Why aren't there more(or any at all) games about being a knight at a medieval tournament?>Melee where you win gold and glory for maiden's honor>jousting>archery contests>ring contest(lance through rings for points)>getting banged up and cool scars with less risk>taking losers equipment
>>97976546Too limited for war gamers, too mechanistic for roleplayers.
There was a GW minigame published in WD, there's Pendragon, an RPG dedicated to all things chivalrous, and you can set up a tournament session or mini arc with whatever other system you want. Do you really need more? Honestly a game dedicated to just that is probably more boardgame material.
>>97976546Its too limited in scope i think, many games have full on rules that fit all of that. Also i think a boardgame for a joust would be really fun
>>97976546Pendragon has that starting in the Boy King Period but it really ramps up in the Romance and Tournament Periods.
>>97976546There's half a dozen or so jousting games. Some of them are more fantasy than others, including at least one based on the idea of halfling knights.
>>97977574>halfling knightslmao what are they gonna fight? Fearsome rats?
>>97977574Which is to sayFull Tilt (old White Dwarf game about Bretonnian jousting from the 90s, recently republished by GW)Half Tilt (pastiche of Full Tilt, but with halflings and more fantasy stuff)Hairfoot Jousting (similar idea, different rules)I'm pretty sure that there was a game from the 70s that was kind of in the same wheelhouse as Chainmail, but just focused on joustsAnd there's a couple of print and play games meant to use whatever tokens you have lying around and a sheet with distances and speed charts.
>>97976592>roleplayersNot all of them, just the ones who hate games.
>>97976546According to BGG there are no less than 57 released products under the jousting/tournament theme. Even discounting various expansions and stuff published before 1990, you still have ~25 jousting based boardgames. So I don't really understand what you're talking about. As you yourself noted, it's clearly a concept that can very easily be adapted into a board game format.
>>97976546The scope seems incredibly small and retarded. That's like making an RPG about shopping for groceries or something.Just play bannerlord dude
>>97976546>Why aren't there more games about [Insert obscure nice genre].
>>97979171>obscure nice genreAt least your typo saved you from pleonasm abuse.
>>97976546Because that's more of a board game than an RPG, but even for a board game you have three paths:>Unplayable historical autism that's so accurate and bloated by the time you have it set up, nobody sane wants to play anymore>Gimmicky game with overpriced and easily broken physical props>Lazy game with effect cards and basic dice that satisfies nobodyAs for RPGs, well, those are more things you'd do as part of a larger campaign and/or a subsystem than the focus of a campaign or a full system.
