>walk into game store
>this guy is behind the counter
>he has been chatting with his friends who don't shower for the past 45 minutes
>trying to buy something from him is a traditional game itself, you have to figure out subtle untold rules to get him to actually cash you out
>he's dripping with contempt the entire time ("elitism" but find the elite, 404 lol), can't run a single mile
>any item you buy is guaranteed to be gay casual shit that will provoke a remark

why are "F"LGS like this? it's like they hate money. and no i'm not just posting this to seethe about a single experience it's been like this for many years. they're like gun stores but even more fucking lame and deserve to be in the red they constantly are.

The people working at my flgs are relatively normal, but there’s always some pokemon or magic autist that ties up the register for 15+ minutes looking at the expensive cards that are kept behind the counter.

Going to mine is a stressful experience. The shop is tiny, which is fine. It's always full of the same four people shouting at each other over MTG disputes, which is less so. My hobby small talk with the proprietor is always interrupted by 'helpful' suggestions by his friends, which is slightly irritating. However, he always refers to till receipts as 'The Ghost of Moneys Past', which is quite funny.

I'd always go to his shop rather than GW, as he's a decent chap running a small local business.

i'm just shitposting because i'm unlucky enough to never have experienced a store with normal people/staff. what the fuck do you mean you're a clique, you're five dudes who play with toys and pokeyman cards, why would there be an agenda or outgroup. but like i said idk maybe i'm just unlucky.
>>
I guess the process is
>I'm a nerd
>I know a lot about nerd shit
>why don't I make it my job? easy money
>what do you mean you need social skills to run a shop?
>>
Never really got this stereotype. Even back in the day, the owners and employees of Game stores and Comic shops were among the nicest people you’d meet working retail. Were some of them a bit spergy? Sure but they were nice and polite, eager to help you if you had a question. Some of the clientele were….eccentric let’s say, but not rude. Now Record stores….thats a WHOLE other story. They always had the worst attitudes.

See what you need to grasp is that to a normietypical, there is no greater crime, no more heinous affront, no more despicable an affliction than being an autist who doesn't instantly grasp that the normietypical is the super awesome witty gigachad they see themselves as in their own mind. Other normietypicals will humour them because the totality of normietypical existence is existing in their collective mutual self-delusion that they're all super skilled social animals, rather than just people who're all so NPC minded that they can safely assume that what any one of them is thinking, all the others are also thinking. Encountering ensoulled people with the capacity to exist outside their NPC norm horrifies and disturbs them and they'll project all sorts of bullshit onto you in order to justify their delusion-protecting confusion and revulsion without acknowledging to themselves their actual reasons.

Why do you want people to take showers every 45 minutes?
>>
My FLGS is super nice. I think you were just cosmically sorted into a shitty one because you have a rotten, irredeemable soul.
>>
>>97986955

I take your point, I often wonder how he keeps going with the same 4 people in there, plus one actual customer. He seems to be a one man band, which is a tough way to make a living. That said, it's the only FLGS I know of outside the city so he's got a mini monopoly.

My flgs fucking rules. They were having a giant sale this weekend for free comic book day and I got a copy of mutant crawl classics and some dice for free because I had a bunch of credit saved up there. How did I have credit? They give you back something like 10 percent of your purchases there in store credit.

So, yeah, I don't know what to tell you. Sucks to suck, I guess.

the guys at my place are nice but their clientele is 99% pokemon cardrippers, they only have some token warhammer stock which I'm pretty sure I've been the only customer of (at least for the past year or so)
whenever I come into buy some paint or models they treat me like I'm some kind of endangered animal which is petty funny
>>
>>97986525
Going into a small game store if you're not a regular is so awkward even if they're very friendly and nice. Its like you've just walked into someone's house. Its too intimate to just stop talking and browse without being super aware of them and yourself.

Avatar posting is a bannable offense.

I know those movies aren't that good but do the mods hate Avatar that much?
