i like it but i haven't played in years
No.
I've never finished a game of it.But, it's managed to occupy a good number of hours amongst cousins and the like.I remember playing it in a small ski cabin during a blizzard with no television and barely any electricity, with nothing really else to do except make hot chocolate or popcorn with the small wooden stove. I wouldn't have thought of it at the time, but it's turned into one of my fonder memories.
>>97989541Fpbp>>97989447> Picture: "Pick a game better than monopoly!"It was fine when it came out, but a game where everything is down to luck, scamming your friends, leveraging debt to build just in the face of a rival, having someone lose and wait on the wayside for 1+ hour, and everybody knowing who will most probably win during that time but still rolling dice because technically there is still a chance? Not today. If there's elimination, I want rounds to be fast, like Betrayal at the House on the Hill. Otherwise, big fan of deck / engine building, like Clank! (In space), Architects of the New World, and Wingspan.

>>97989447I actively dislike it. I'd rather play pretty much any other board game.

It can be... tolerable, if you ACTUALLY PLAY BY THE RULES. This means no bullshit like:- You get double money for landing on Go- Fines and fees and so on go on the Free Parking space, and whoever lands on it gets all the money.- Players in jail cannot collect money from other people landing on their properties. These three rules in particular can extend the game by HOURS. if you play the game with the rules as they are actually written, a game will generally take around two hours, by which time everybody's bored with it anyway.

if you are reading this thread and you come across this post, please stop playing with the following rules, because theyre just made up nonesense:tax win on free parking - this is not a real rule. taxes and fines go straight to the bank, not in the middleno purchases the first trip around - i cant believe this is a real one, but it is. it does nothing but prolong the game for literally no reasonmaking more houses/hotels - there is supposed to be a finite number of these, and there is actual strategy in keeping them out of the marketuneven building - you are not allowed to make a death trap on one single property and no others. you have to build evenly across all properties, as in, all properties in a colour must have 1 house before they can have 2.you cant trade in jail/until your turn - people always ALWAYS argue with me that you have to wait your turn to trade, or that you cant trade/earn money in jail. you can. you can always trade at any point in the game.no auctions - if you land on a property you dont want to buy, it goes to auction immediately, and yes, you CAN bid on it, even though you didnt want it initially.add any retarded rules youve seen or heard, monopoly is so so bad for it and i have no idea why
