>MtG's UB art getting lazier>artists get paid low commissions and can't profit from the work due to licensing issuesWizards needs to change this fast or its going to get worse
>>97990956"Worse" sounds good in this case.
>>97990956A good reason to draw for real sets and not the Fortnite things.
Good. Accelerate.
>>97990956this is worded bizarelly. so by signing the contract they will never work as artists ever again? or are they not allowed to create original work based on the IP?
>>97994368The latter, presumably. The former is completely unenforceable.
>>97990956But...why?What's the point of taking all that away from them? Seems very bully-ish and short-sighted losing so much goodwill for...well I can't really see an upside!
>>97990956Their workers are trying to unionize too, so I expect them to purge a lot of their staff soon.
>>97994440Presumably so that Marvel doesn't need to worry about random artists infringing upon their copyright just because an artist once drew one of the thousands of Spider-Men for WotC's beloved Spider-Man set and such a job is not supposed to be a carte blanche to allow him to continue to sell Spider-Man fanart and bootlegs.
>>97990956Daily reminder that avatar was basically screenahots from the anime and on top of that it was all compressed because original spource was lost by the studio. Death to UB>>97994368Since wotc is not ip owner of the ub fuckery i assume this was put in by some corpo lawyers
>>97994440Seems kind of obvious: since the work is being done on properties WotC doesn't own, they have to be careful making sure that only the material the license authorizes gets made, or else it's Disney lawsuit time. The artists that are specifically licensed to create Marvel or Star Wars etc images have to have those specific rights themselves.
>>97990956>MtG's UB art
>>97990956GoodAn Artist that can live off their art isn't an Artist
>>97996022Sounds like you coping for being bad at making things.
>>97990956>Thought UB=unbirth artThere goes all in my interest in the thread.
>>97996022>deciding things for others because he wants to "create a saying"You're a special kind of bad person that has to 'allow people to feel good' around them.
>>97996022Based. Imagine calling yourself an artist and devaluing the concept when you're actually just a less efficient, more expensive version of AI image generation.
>>97995979This shit drove me away from MTG permanently. Haven't bought a eingle card ever since.
Do people not understand how this copyright stuff works? This shit is standard. WotC is covering its bases. If they hired people to make a Spiderman art and then that person could start selling Spiderman merch, it'd be a lawsuit from Disney for sure. Go take it up with the House of the Mouse.
>>97996593It's okay I've bought twice as many to compensate.
>>97990956Just tell AI to make them
>>97997333WotC keeps trying and keeps getting caught doing so
>>97997350Why hide it? Make AI art and tell the piggies to eat it.
>>97997353I genuinely can't tell if you're baiting or not. However, WotC keeps creating more tempt contracts and eliminating full time employment. So AI created content is probably their goal to spend less and sell more cards
>>97997373>I genuinely can't tell if you're baiting or not.I'm being genuine, but in a bitter way. If they want to feed slop to their audience than just do it already. We already know they crave it.
>>97997375So I have a friend that takes their crap contracts, its completely unsustainable unless you have have a spouse with a real job. WotC and everyone else pays legal minimum with outsourced contracts. In the case of WotC they gave up long ago about their lore that no one read and embarked on temps for it al
>>97997375>slopTheir art is absolute dogshit and those "artists" dont deserve a penny for it, might as well have a computer do it. Theater kids can suck it, sorry not sorry, the computer is now taking your freelance "artist" and voice acting jobs.
>>97996022>An Artist that can live off their art isn't an ArtistThe romanticizing of the struggling artist is just a cope by people that are bad at marketing themselves. You're just seething because other people are better at business than you.
>>97997388Say the thing they told those poor coal miners in West Virginia. Throw the spite back in their face,>Learn to Code
>>97996022>An Artist that can live off their art isn't an ArtistI hope you end up living in a dumpster with all the other trash in your hive mind, corpo drone
