I found Labyrinth of Evil in a used book store and bought it since it comes up pretty often when people bring up good prequel-era novels, along with the RotS novelization which I already own. It was a solid story, though I'm surprised that despite being part of the CW multimedia project and directly referencing the CW microseries, the part in the novel where Grievous abducted Palpatine played out completely differently than in the series. Like not just the same sequence of events told differently, like the difference between the RotS novelization and the film itself, but the whole thing unfolds entirely differently with at most a few similar setpieces. That surprised me since I generally hear people complaining about TCW (the CGI animated series) contradiction CWMMP, but it seems to me that the CWMMP was already contradicting itself well before TCW.

Modern Hollywood is also extremely risk-averse so they really like rehashing old brand names, (fucking Faces of Death got a new entry this year). OT has extremely strong recognizability and kids who grew up with the PT era are all part of the work force and have some level of disposable income; a 10 year old who watched TPM in theaters is now 37 and a 10 year old who watched the TCW movie in theaters is now 28.10 year olds who watched TFA are maybe graduating college in the next few years, and it's all but objective that the advertising/multimedia push the ST had was less effective at capturing hearts and minds than the OT's and PT's campaigns. So ST fans aren't a feasible demographic to market to (and may never be), so Disney are incentivized to keep pandering to the OT and PT eras, like a cover band only playing greatest hits.
What do you guys think of my idea for what a Post-Endor Star Wars should have looked like? I have surface level knowledge of the EU and incorporated a little of it into this. Basically the galaxy balkanizes after Endor and enters a new Cold War between the New Republic, a restructured Empire (Imperial Union) and a 3rd new faction which is a Coalition of different independent systems led by the Hutts
