No Angron is the correct size, he's got that manlet rage.
Actually all primarch models are grossly over-sized according to size descriptions, especially in older (correct) lore. But hey that is heroic scale means I guess.

then you haven't seen any of the models in person, the detail is extremely low definition so that you can barely make it out, the limbs are too thin, the cloaks are really thick and rough textured, many limbs are actually different proportions to eachother, for example Lokens left leg is longer than his right.

I've forgotten the kit's name, but it was essentially a build-your-own Space Marine captain box. Characters on the table make for boring storytelling and predictable games. Praetor Donut Steel fighting and dying on some backwater shithole against my dudes over a 4.8mm rivet manefactorium is far more engaging.

I can't really think of fitting World Eaters tank names or even a theme or angle for the names even if it can be eclectic

Maybe I should avoid names and think of some other way to distinguish individual tanks like slavoid hull numbers or something or stripes or something. Does anyone have the world eaters tank illustration from the moonman Body black book?
>>
>>97997210
Give them numbers to start, but then give them names based on deeds they accomplish in battle.
>>
>>97997210
Yeah, it doesn't really seem likely that the World Eaters gave their tanks names, the Black Books don't seem to have any. Makes sense too, they weren't really sentimental about their tools. Sicarans and Predators would probably just be hull serial numbers, and larger super-heavies might have nicknames like >>97997219 suggests.
>>
>>97997210
Maybe WE would be the type of guys who give their vehicles slightly silly names, like:
>Angron's steel butt cheek
>Imperium Diplomacy
>The Legion's greetings
>Khârn's lunchbox

a Rhino named Pardus (leopard), a Fellblade named Parabellum ("prepare for war" from sī vīs pācem, parā bellum: if you desire peace, prepare for war; this is what all them bullets and guns are named after); Djem ("leader") a Deimos Vindicator, from The Horus Heresy: Legions game, there's probably more

Book 6 doesn't name any WE vehicles afaik but they are all marked with the Devastator/Heavy Support chevron

Aeronautica has a WE pilot cadre called Red Hunters, who are pilots, so maybe check the aeronautica book for Xiphon names

I've warmed to the hull numbers. I'll definitely use them whether or not I end up using tank names. It's a lot easier to quickly make up a hull numbering system than agonise trying to think of thematic names.

It's 3 digits with the first representing the hull type like 9 for a Rhino, Vindicator etc. or 7 for any Sicaria then a 2 digit Battalion hull number. Assigned non sequentially and slowly reusing destroyed hull numbers to prevent enemy using them for intel. That seems perfectly fluffy since Master Shellsmith Jareg (WE chief techmarine) might be a cyborg crab but he's always been dedicated as a crustacean who is highly capable in his role.

>>97997920

These names are ok but they aren't very thematic in the same way as World Eaters ship names: Bestiarius, Galerus, Death Cut, Gladiator, Pit Cur. Just dab a little on your pallete: monkey head stew, Uma delicia
>>
Is it very detrimental to add Solara Auxialia basilisk or two to a space marine army ? I am trying to build "siege company" style army.
>>
>>97998234
you could always get a recast legion basi/medusa, theyre like $45
>>
>>97998496
I thougth more in the case of list viability. they do sell them here for 5$ you are right. No medusas though(as in the short barrels), no idea why.
>>
>>97998496

>legion basi/medusa,

Why did GW make the legion basilisk anyhow? Since they've been enforcing "separate but equal accommodation" for Marines and IG/SA ever since Brother Plessy of the Space Wolves lost his legal right to a Leman Russ Exterminator.
>>
>>97997210
I'd actually give them regal and noble names
like some manufactorum pencil pusher read the sanitized history of the XIIth legion and started naming the vehicles "Pride of Angron", "Exemplar of Justice" and other bullshit, before delivering them to the World Eaters
meanwhile, marines just call them by their model and hull number while the noble name slowly gets hidden underneath dried blood and gore
>>
So are knights the "these are bad this edition" unit, kinda like how last edition they made mechanicum walkers armor 3 so they were vulnerable to krak grenades? Knights have a limited number of WS4 attacks and melee hits their rear armor. Was the intent to make knights worthless in melee so Astartes players could experience muh power fantasy?
>>
>>97996445
>all primarch models are grossly over-sized
The Orkification both in lore and on tabletop has been out of control for a long time. I get that they're great centerpieces but each time I see someone discuss the size of the Primarchs I am just reminded that black library writers are borderline retarded when it comes to a sense of scale.
Yes regular marines who are jacked in power armor would be extremely intimidating and fearsome opponents (and stand quite a bit taller) and yes Primarchs should in comparison be the size of a small giant. But actually turning them into house sized characters is just fucking dumb if you ask me.
>>
>>97998705

Yeah, outside of demon primarchs I agree.
>>
>>97998705
I wish most primarchs were the size (not magnus, vulka or demon primarchs) the 2.0 pretors were. with some Lorgar, Alf/Ome practicaly the size of marines.
>>
>>97998723
I think I came across some video of a "Lore Accurate Horus" being 3D printed and I kid you not he was bigger than the 1-story he was assembled next to.
I don't know if any of you did the VR Space Marine Experience but IMO that really showed the scale on how it should probably be. Average guardman around 175-180cm with Astartes clearly towering over them and being absolute muscular bullwarks. Primarchs just being a bit over that size. Coming from a country where tall people are relatively common (200cm and above) it's not hard to see how much that height and above contrasts with average humans and especially not if they're muscled up.

Hello guys
I've recently approached Legions Imperialis, got some Questoris and Mechanicum Questoris because I find the Imperial Knights very cool. Now I want to build a small list, something between 1000 and 1500 points.
I've heard that knights have some isses due to the lack of infantry units, so I thought of mixing it up with another army.
I'm thinking of going with Dark Mechanicum because spiderbots and the Thallax looks cool (but why there's no skiitari infantry?) but can't decide if to go Terror Protocol Cohort with extra knight asset, or Barony Guard Lance with some DarkMech allies.
What would you suggest?
>>
>>97998231
WE do also use a lot of punic names depending on which book, I guess because it's thematic of slaves in the gladiatorial arenas of Rome or something. Mago is a character who dies on Ghenna etc. Spekaing of which mythical hounds are a thing also, Gehenna, Cerberus, Cyna Hadum/Hound of Hades, Garmr etc.

Nice Zaku friend. I can't be too helpful as I don't play dark mech or knights. My heart says follow your dreams and go Barony Guard Lance but a lot of people are extreme sticklers for the Allies must be 30% or less of your list rule. If you go Dark Mech you only get 2 knight detachments (or a single befuddled Warhound).

I feel your pain about the Skitarii. The Titan legion faction basically just exists for Narrativemaxxers but you only get tech thralls or murder robots in the support maniple not a single skitarii let alone Secutarii. A sad and tragic state of affairs.

The MoD is more valuable if you JUST need a deep strike assault to work, but the MoS also has fun scoring mechanics attached and works on other forms of reserves (like outflank)

can't believe /hhg/ shat all over that DA combi-plasma last week and yet gives this heap of shit combi-plasma a free ride

first off it has the same problem every combi plasma and combi melta has with heat detonating the explosives and propellant in the bolts in the magazine

secondly it's literally a plasma gun that's smaller than the plasma pistol in the same kit (you know, the plasma pistol with a fucking scope, like you might argue for that on any other gun but the one that's literally described as firing small sun-like blasts that'd fucking blind anybody looking through the scope)

it's the versatility of the kit that you like, you say? it has a bionic sword arm well so does the Legion Command sprue, it has a lightning claw that looks worse than the vanguard vets claws that long outlived it, an unremarkable power fist, four agnostic pauldrons (three if you wanted to use them for HH) and one torso/legs combo that realistically you might have mix-matched with Tacticals or whatever... but did you? or did you just build ol Cap'n Gaycloakus with choice of loincloth or pteruges

for 22 years ago it's not awful but it's long since shown its age and it's nowhere near as bits-full as a modern Tactical box in either setting

NGL I really like them, they're my favorite legion. But I don't wanna do them in heresy cuz I can't be fucked to do the candy red scheme. I love it in art, but I'm not the best painter so I don't wanna fiddle with that. As to why I like them? An entire legion of wizards. With guns. Also I like Tomb Kings in WHFB so there's overlap there. The esoteric legion just appeals to me. I wish I was a better painter to do 'em justice

shave off and file down chaos iconography or is there a chance it would be permitted for late heresy iron warriors?
>>
Pic unrelated, but is the whole Space Wolves not wearing helmets strictly a 40K thing or is it fine during HH as well? They seem to be depicted looking a lot more tidy and wearing helmets, not the viking-larpers that we're used to seeing.
>>
>>98001288
The fuck do you mean "not wearing helmets" obviously they wear helmets are you retarded? Theyre marines, they all wear helmets, it comes with your fucking power armor.
>>
>>98001295
Calm down baby boy. You must be new here, so let me explain further: Space Wolves often forgo helmets in Warhammer 40,000 lore to utilize their enhanced senses, specifically acute smell and hearing, which are hindered by armor sensors.
This habit reflects their lupine, hunter-killer nature, allowing them to track prey, "smell" fear, and fight as a pack without verbal communication.
>>
>>98001288
Why teh fuck is his head so small?
>>
>>98001288
That has always been a thing for SW. Helmets feel more constraining for them, due to their heightened animalistic senses, even compared to other marines.

They're also kind of retarded.

the leftmost is probably fine for a Librarian

the two next to it would work as Heavy Support, the two next to them would work as Tactical

the four blanks on the top and the five on the bottom would be fine as-is, these models are like 4cm tall, nobody cares about a lil spike here and there

It's the power fantasy, one librarian is a rare and formidable force on the battlefield in 40k yet during the heresy there is an entire legion of them. The force multiplier is insane and really puts the power differential in perspective. It's also one of the if not the sexist legion scheme.

>for 22 years ago it's not awful but it's long since shown its age and it's nowhere near as bits-full as a modern Tactical box in either setting
The idea is to have a customizable, posable, commander with relativley unique wargear that isn't available in other boxes with bits leftover for other models. An HH equivalent would be a base combi weapon with all of the options, a paragon blade, power weapons that aren't the standard bits out of the melee kit, fancy pistols, and fancy decorations.
>>
>>98000182

If that’s the case, then could ya help a fellow elegan/tg/entleman out and point me towards those links to the more recent books? Desuarchive is coming up snake eyes, but that might be because my search-fu may be weak.
>>
>>98001148
You do realize the only HH combi-weapons that exist have the same layout as the commander's plasma with the weapon being mounted under the bolter and being relatively small, right? What's wrong with a special dude having a smaller version of a thing? If they can put a grenade launcher onto a bolt pistol, they can mount a plasma gun under a bolter. Even in real life we had special forces taking machine guns and rifles and chopping and stripping them down into lighter, handier versions.

Yeah, those terminator combis totally got regular special weapon sized parts to them, right? My point was if you want to give your regular marines an official HH combi-weapon, there's only the Tigrus, which has the same style layout with a small special weapon mounted under the barrel. But go ahead and give your marines terminator combis, if you want. Putting the small special weapon to the side absolutely makes up for it, right? Only HH combi (for power armour) where the special weapon is anywhere near the size of the original is the combi-disintegrator.

The watsonian reason for why space wolves are helmetless, to show that they're furries, not only doesn't apply in 30k but requires them to double down on helmets because otherwise people would realize it doesn't make any sense why they're furries in 40k but not 30k when the canis helix is supposedly a thing in both, because they started phoning it in on the models by book 6 and the lore by book 5.

Speaking of DA, I actually really like their current legion trait. Sure, it isn't the strongest and its use cases can be a bit niche. And it needed to get fixed to actually work for assault.
But now that a roll of 6 means DA always pass their check, it actually portrays the first legion's grim determination quite well I think. They have fought some of the most horrifying xenos out there, and no matter how dire the situation they will still disengage in good order and immediately turn around to continue blasting their enemies in the face. Just think it's cool.
>>
>>98003641
In 30k the Canis helix hasn't degenerates yet; they have Russ there to correct it.
SW remove their helmets because... auto senses don't carry smell? Idk, I think they would.
