Hey /tg/ I'm looking to run a game but my work might be picking up enough soon that I'm thinking of running some modules to save me the mental energy of homebrewing an entire adventure. What modules would you say are the most fun you've had playing/running and would recommend to someone else? No specific system in mind either

There are some really good CoC scenarios out there. Masks of Nyarlathotep is a well-designed campaign or you can just string together some of the shorter modules.

I've also had a great time playing in campaigns using Age of Worms and Red Hand of Doom for 3.5e and a bunch of the Dark Heresy adventures (although my GM did say he made some significant changes to most of the 40k modules).

Mork Borg. Easy to get into and easy to run. Have fun

>Too busy to make my own adventures but you are to waste your time recommending to me modules for a game system I won't be playing and which I'll be too busy to convert if they're even convertible to whatever system I may or may not run
No thanks.

You don't need to prep everything at once anon, in fact, you don't have to prep that much at all. If you're that short on time look around, it should be easy to find a copy of the lazy dungeon master. It has some nice things to apply when you are short on time.

Fuck off you idiot

OD&D with chainmail. Generate a random map with a tool of your choise and ad shit to it as players explore with the wilderness exploration rules. Make a starter dungeon that takes them from 1st to ~3rd level so they are a bit better prepared for outdoors. Been running games like this for years and I've never looked back.

i have enjoyed strahd and averness, and phandelver specifically as a DM
for pathfinder 2e i've done bits or korvosa and sandpoint and know bits of abomination vaults, but i personally despise PF2e as a system so i hated all of it
i've done some other modules in other systems and run plenty of homebrew oneshots, but those are the noteable ones

Is it that bad?

well, it works like this. you want to be a healer? there are exactly four healing feats that unlock at the same levels you get more skill feats, and the expectation is that you take at least three (with the fourth being an alt-flavour specialization). there's nothing wrong with that. the problem is those four feats that matter are burried in over 500 useless feats that do nothing and you cant even take them because of skill/feat requirements. this repeats across skill, general, racial and class feats, so you're basically just building a sandwitch from subway out of pre-assembled parts, but you still need to spend hours on it because if you dont the system does nothing to stop you from making an awful inedible sandwitch.
did i mention some feats give you other feats for free, so you cant even plan by level and have to look two or three levels in advance for whatever you're trying to pick?

throw in the fact that something as simple as a rogue backstab has a three step activation requiring a feat to take the intimidate action, which triggers the fear status effect, then a feat to proc the offguard status on someone feeling fear, then another feat to actually trigger the sneak attack, provided your weapons meet the three point eligebility criteria.

i hate the kitchen-sinky videogamesque worldbuilding too, but at this point i think you can see the broad angle im going for. its structurally complex but mechanically simple, making every single action a painful beurocratic exercise in crossreferencing rules and effects less like a game and more like a contract law dispute

There are tons, anon, but what system you'd be using really is essential to the convo here. At least a ballpark.
Like I've got half a dozen Cyberpunk modules I'd recommend in a heartbeat but not if you're playing 5e or something.
>>97997423
Seconded. Pirate Börg and Cy_Börg too.

fair enough. currently I'm interested in cyberpunk, Traveler, Call of C'thulu, Delta Green and Dungeons and Dragons any edition, but 5e is only an "if I have to" because I find myself getting bored of its mechanics very quickly/PF not 2e though since the one time I played it the feat autism really turned me off off the top of my head The WoD stuff also seems interesting but I've never taken the time to take a proper look into them. That said I'm not very picky and I'm one of those autists who can learn a systems mechanics extremely quickly and easily and can even find it fun so if there's a really fun module that belongs to a system outside of the ones mentioned I'd be open to that too.

i know i fell for the bait.

I can suggest/denounce stuff I've run it played.
>PF1
Short: Crypt of the Everflame->Masks of the Living God->Fangwood Keep- City of Golden Death. Fangwood isn't part of the original trio, but it takes place in the same country. You could juice it up and place it after City, even extend the campaign if the PCs claim it and run a little mini Kingmaker micronation between two warring countries.
Long: Kingmaker, though it's old and really benefits from retooling which kind of goes against what you want. If you don't want to futz about with fixing the kingdom building system and a variety of other things, just run Rise of the Runelords, Legacy of Fire, or Curse of the Crimson Throne. These are pre-"silly stapled-on mechanics" adventure paths. Carrion Crown is fine, but amp up the final encounter. We one-rounded him, no idea what he's supposed to do.
>PF2
I did not care for PF2. Abomination Vaults was okay, Quest for the Frozen Flame was miserable.
>Traveller
Traveller rules. We usually do homebrew, but Pirates of Drinax was a good time.
>CoC/DG
Currently playing through Horror on the Orient Express, I've heard good things about all of them. As far as DG goes, check out Charlie Don't Surf.

I can suggest a ton of stuff for FFG40kRPGs if you're interested, not going to fit in this post. Quality is all over the place between published and fan made modules and most of them can be ported from one system to another with a little tinkering.
