Do you include gooncore species like Asari, Drow, Twi'leks and T'au in your settings?>inb4 no, whyAlmost every mainstream scifi and fantasy setting has a waifubait race
>>98004199Yes, but I ensure the PCs never get any. They universally treat the PCs as sexual non-entities, or as their gay best friends. This is because I like to make players feel small, grubby and helpless on a personal level. Think of it as a slap of reality in the face, to contrast the big hero fantasy of a campaign.I justify this by saying "Guys, I don't do romance, that would be creepy and gay, you don't want to be cringe, right?" but have everyone around them fucking.Case in point, the Esaal (A/S/L), gorgeous technopath space elves. Their female navigators pilot ships by immersing themselves, naked, in a nanite bath and interfacing with the controls. They spend weeks to months in suspension, making them really horny when they come out. After rescuing a crippled Esaal ship, one PC helped the female Navigator in her recovery. When he visited her in her quarters, she was naked except for an open shirt (they have no nudity taboo, see) and casually discussed her recovery while thanking him for the food he'd brought. Then one of the ship's Vigilators, a big, muscular jock of a provost, came out of a side-room and asked if she was ready for "Round six". He was embarassed when he saw the PC, went "Oh sorry Sir, I didn't know you were..." and the Esaal told the PC "We'll talk later, I have something to get back to. Thank you for saving me, you're a great warrior and a worthy friend."He was so pissed, and (even better) he couldn't articulate why. I made sure that the provost had nothing but respect for the PC's heroics, and worked closely with him the entire time.
>>98004199>T'au>gooncore and waifubaitSecondaries.
>>98004199Yes because I like them. In my Spelljammer it's Reigar 'cuz androgyny does it for me.
>>98004208>Yes, but I ensure the PCs never get any. They universally treat the PCs as sexual non-entities, or as their gay best friends. This is incredibly funny and even though I know you are memeing, I really want it to be true.
>gooncore>not races that would be good Mafia LegbreakersDisappointed.
>>98004199You mean like in original settings? If I'm playing a Star Wars or D&D game it's more work to write out the gooner races. At least if you're writing a setting from the ground up you have to go out of your way to make a gooner race so I can question if you're fapping under the table or not.
>>98004229>ReigarI hadn't encountered these before but honestly that's kind of interesting fluff. They have a Spartan-like 'limited number of true citizens, who have only one focus, supported by many slaves and second-class citizen specialists' but having the focus be on art and all the militaristic stuff devoted to one type of those second-class specialists is quite novel. You wonder if the Reigar/Lakshu alliance was originally a more equal partnership but the Reigar came to dominate not through military but through an overwhelming cultural supremacy. It is definitely more interesting if the Lakshu have diverse forms modified to suit the particular Reigar they serve rather than all being sexy green punk space babes though, as against the thread topic as that might be.
>>98004199I don't call it "gooncore" because I'm not a puritanical weirdo who thinks if you enjoy seeing attractive women you must be jacking off for 16 hours a day.
You have to have sexy blue babes in any self-respecting sci fi. Putting in some myself for a game, I just have to choose between either spacemaster or just using GURPSFor fantasy you always have elves if nothing else.>>98004307This is sensible.
>>98004258I like them. Mine is a captain who the players think is their carefree buddy, flying around on her ship full of ladies (she's got 2 lakshu and a helot who appears to be perfect "damsel in distress" bait but who is, of course, just a soulless automaton). They run into her in various ports. They haven't yet figured out that she's the one who assassinated their first captain. That she's intentionally following them. Because she wants to blow up the sun, as her great work, and the PCs are unwittingly on a course to do so (the Astromundi Cluster has a sub-plot about the Arcane trying to destroy the sun in order to create a gateway into the Abyss and my players are unwittingly collecting the magical treasures required to build the artifact that'll do it, and Brighton wants to see it pop).
>>98004258>It is definitely more interesting if the Lakshu have diverse forms modified to suit the particular Reigar they serve rather than all being sexy green punk space babes though, as against the thread topic as that might be.Sorry to disappoint. Mine are sexy space babes.
>>98004351It's fine, it's fine. The little blurb I read made them seem into body-modding, lots of tattoos and piercings, so I think a fun extension of that would be to have them into magitech cybernetics and really extreme changes of form as an extension of the Reigar's love of art. But I can't deny they are clearly meant to be sexy space babes at heart.>>98004339This sounds very fun. They'd be a good PC race too honestly, very open motivation for just about any shenanigans you can imagine. And fun antagonists, because the tendency to crafting magical devices really lets you run away with encounter design if you want to.
>>98004199Dont care. How about them games? How did your last session go?
>>98004479Make a thread, or if you really want to derail, post about your own
>>98004479I described mine right here, anon: >>98004339Stop trying to police what other people talk about and being paranoid about "no games." It's pathetic.
>>98004514He just wants to shitpost
>>98004199>gooncoreit's called cheesecake, you massive faggot
>>98004643Calm down, unc. Times have changed.
>>98004199Okay, I’m sold on adding one to my next setting now, lol. But seriously, how do you include such a race and do it well, and how does it vary between science fiction and fantasy settings? Are there any other examples worth looking at besides the aforementioned ones?
>>98004238I mean, that IS kind of the point. I ain't up for playing someone's imaginary girlfriend, but at the same time it makes sense for the NPCs to hook up. So the PCs can't have sex, ever. Everyone else can.
>>98004760>I ain't up for playing someone's imaginary girlfriendUnderstandable, but you can just gloss it over and fade to black when needed.
>>98004760>the PCs can't have sex, ever. Everyone else can.Hey, it's about time someone ran a realistic campaign.
>>98004797Yes, obviously, but it's the emotionality of it that would be weird. With NPCs I can just give it 'broad strokes' since it happens offscreen, but I think a PC trying to woo an NPC would be super-gay.
>>98004199>woman>BUT BLUEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAGHHI'M GOOOOOOOOOOONINGWHAT KIND OF SICK MIND WOULD MAKE WOMEN BLUE IF THEY DIDN'T WANT ME TO GOON ALL DAY?!
>>98004814OK but your original post is like you are trying to suggest that emotionality but then enjoy cucking the PC out of it, which is a different thing.
>>98004807Not a fan of self inserting in escapism fantasy to be honest
>>98004849Oh, I very much enjoy rubbing it in the faces of the players. There are some players I cannot fucking stand, this is a way to work off my frustrations. Sure they can be the big heroes, but I don't have to pretend they'll be romantically successful too.
>>98004867I think maybe you should just get a normal group of like-minded friends, my man.
>>98004741Honestly you just need to make them attractive women with some sort of differently human trait like an odd skin color or cat ears. As absurd as >>98004825 sounds this is pretty much how it works. In the OP Asari, Drow, Twileks and Tau are all wildly different from each other but people still end up gooning over them just like that post describes. Tau aren't even attractive outside of fanart.
>>98004877I don't run campaigns for my friends, perish the thoughtI appreciate my players, but sometimes they annoy the fuck out of me. So this is the way I get back at them.
>>98004893That can just make things worse in the long run anon, maybe you should settle things outside of the table so that you all get a better time.
>>98004208What system? The space bits sound like Traveler but I could also expect Genesys.
>>98004975Mekton Zeta!
>>98004893I’m >>98004975 and I just got to this post. Why are you doing this? You sound miserable, you shouldn’t run campaigns with the intent to torment your players. Release them and let them find tables that will satiate their interests and then you can find players more amenable to your interests. You’re literally cucking them, anon. It brings you pleasure to see them romantically suffer. That’s netorare, which makes you the slimiest piece of shit I can imagine even if the source of that behavior is sympathetic.
>>98004999Ooh, that’s a good system though. Never played it, though - when it came time to choose between Mekton and BCG my friends chose BCG.
>>98005005I mean, *I'm* having fun. Also, I'm a fair-play guy, I tell them right from the start I don't do NPC romances.
>>98005017So… If I said my character had a fiancé, how would that be resolved? She cheats on my character or never comes up?
>>98005027Never comes up, and I would discourage you from having a character with a fiancee in the first place.
>>98005039NTA but if a character plays a hooker or literal android sexbot or something?
>>98005060C'mon man, no hooker or android sexbot. This ain't an ERP game, I told you.
>>98005084>>98005039I strongly disagree with your method of GMing, but I recognize I have no authority to judge you as I GM and play primarily over text with Discord gaywads. I only hope you can find a group that adheres to your sensibilities. Have a good one, gamer!
>>98005102Honestly the game sounds fine and the objection is reasonable so while this is a kind of bizarrely adversial way to approach it I think anon seems alright and the people in the game are probably having fun. I actually can get not wanting to GM for close friends because it's more interesting to GM for relative strangers, too. You can be more objective and are more likely to be surprised.
>>98005060Why would anyone allow you to play a hooker or a sexbot in a normal RPG? You're going to get weird looks from the others at the table.
>>98005119it's just a what if for a game supposedly including "gooncore" space babes
>>98005143Anon, the race of SM matriarchal bondage elves is for the party to encounter, not to play as. It's not about your AGP fetish
>>98005117I think anon’s approach would have been broadly accepted in 2010 or even 2014, but there’s been a very overt trend towards scrubbing “titillation” from tabletop and being reminded of that will poke many raw nerves. That’s why people generally seem to be turned off by his explanations. It’s the state of the world we live in.
>>98005157It's not really about 'titillation' and more about 'emotionality'. A lot of modern games are supposed to be 'safe' in that they don't make you feel negative emotions. Even losses are somewhat padded, so it's interesting to see the opposite, more old-school approach.
>>98005172Except this isn’t the opposite approach, it’s a flat ban on it - in fact, he’s flaunting the content in the player’s face and “enjoying” the frustration it causes. If this really was an old-school approach, there’d be an avenue for getting one of the waifubait aliens.
>>98005172Yes, although I think this is kind of an outgrowth from the 'player control' or GM-less systems that started to become popular in the indie scene. For instance even Apocalypse World and its many spin-offs, which does have a GM, restricts that GM's actions to specific, known moves like the players' and allows for a great deal of player input. In a good group those players bring negativity and problems on themselves when it's good for the story. In a bad group, or probably more specifically with immature players bent on wish fulfillment, that 'player control' is just exerted to avoid negative emotions.
>>98005153There is a weird thing I'm noticing with waifu races in that they seem to often be technologically advanced. Even Drow have robots and cybernetics in their lore and are very magically accomplished. Asari are the dominant governing species in Mass Effect when they are introduced. Tau are a unusually hi-tech race in a schizotech setting. Elerians are advanced with unique psychic technology.I wonder what mental link makes colour skin space babe = advanced tech.
>>98005195Adding onto this because I’m Phoneposting due to being at work, but If you really wanted to be old-school about it then you’d want to make it a whole slew of prerequisites to get a sexy alien babe GF. Like how it’s tough as hell (and actually impossible if you roll poorly) to become a Paladin in, say, HackMaster. This of course is all ignoring the fact the GM explicitly says he does not want to roleplay PC relationships, but a proper old-timey approach rewards player effort while still making much of it down to luck and skill.
>>98005213Space babes are cultured, and the easiest way to denote culture in sci-fi or fantasy is with technological superiority.
>>98005213elerians are feudal and therefore always lag behind in technologytau are only a "waifu race" in memesI'm not disputing your overall point, which is kind of interesting and deserves exploration, but a couple of your examples are bunk.
>>98005213If you spend your day strutting around looking sexy, you are either advanced enough to afford it, or you're leechng off someone else that is advanced enough to cater for you.
>>98004199Not only does my system have monster girls, my favorite type of monster girl is exclusively female (though they can reproduce via parthenogenesis as well). Of course I generally prefer any species in my system to be conventionally attractive if your inclinations are fitting for the gender of that species you're looking at, or if they're in the Funny Little Guys category they should look whimsical and aesthetically appealing. It's fantasy, why shouldn't the standard be something you want to look at rather than something revolting?>>98004246My system has those too, except they're dinosaur italians with a dinosaur mob.
>>98006698>My system has those too, except they're dinosaur italians with a dinosaur mob.Super Mario Bros (1993)
>>98004199Pretty-looking exotic species with brightly colored skin is a classic space opera trope, so I felt it was mandatory to include my take on it in my SF setting, along with other stock species like the proud warrior race guys and bugs in space.
>>98004199Which game?
>>98004208(the players have never actually noticed or cared, since this doesn't affect killing monsters or finding treasure. they were all just kind of confused when the DM randomly mentioned not including sexuality for no reason.)
>>98004514No. You will do as you are commanded.
>>98004867Why are you playing with people you can't stand?
>>98005153nope, everything that exists is an option.
>>98005157that's not why we're making fun of him kek
>>98004199I think Mass Effect is massively overrated across the board, but I also find almost zero sexual appeal with the Asari. Genuinely have no idea what peoppe see in them; they look idiotic.
>>98004199The conventionally-attractive-by-human-standards race is a staple, so I don't see any reason to leave it out. Bonus points if you have multiple, if not the majority of other races, fall into this.
>mothfuckas itt need their alien waifus to look like humans.YOU ARE WEAK
>>98007201Bro you can't be saying this shit and posting something that still has a human body with big tits and a fat ass. That is ridiculous. What's nonhuman about this? Cute little anime hooves? A cartoon face with no discernible features except big eyes? If you're calling people weak you need to be gooning to 8th dimensional unfiltered saya no uta type shit.
>>98007201>>98007271
>>98008663The afterglow smoke and extraction is key to affection.
>>98007121This isn't to say that every member of the race must be an attractive model, but rather that, given an average specimen of the other race, an average human can reliably be convinced to be attracted to it. You must not be required to pull the "hear me out" clause when explaining why you are attracted to one of these races.Calling them "gooncore" is cringe as fuck, though, and I rebuke that label.
>>98004199>>98004208>One minute differenceYou just wanted a thread all to yourself to flex on how you cuck your PCs out of pettiness, just to get a rise out of the board. You're not clever.
>>98004199>Do you include gooncore speciesI feel like DnD Dragons should count as gooncore/cheesecake because the females always assume sexiest form imaginable whenever they decide to play with humanoids.
>>98008904
>>98008908
>>98008922
>>98004199>gooncore species
>>98005213being highly magically or scientifically advanced is an easy way to justify walking around naked. You can also have naked barbarians and cavemen, but they're not usually major threats and are looked down upon, races like Asari and Drow are the ones looking down on YOU as the stupid cavemen barbarians, not the other way around. A drow matron mother walks around with her tits out in a spider-silk bondage getup because she's dripping in enchanted jewelry and layered defensive spells that make it so you'd have a harder time slicing through steel full plate than scratching her naked vantablack ass. Decadent, advanced, beautiful, and cruel societies like Melniboné are a big influence.
>>98004199>gooncoreI hope you lose your testicle in a tragic badger accident
>>98006720FUCK GOD DAMMIT THAT WASNT EVEN THE INTENT ITS THAT THEY WERE GRECHOROMAN IN THE PAST AND ARE BASICALLY ITALIAN IN THE MODERN DAY BUT YOU'RE FUCKING RIGHT FUCK YOu

>>98009649This Ain't No Video Game
space babes are good for you and should always be included
>>98010069ai is bad for you and should never be included
>>98004214There is more waifu art of the Tau than official art.
>>98009737Surprisingly they love itThey feel that the campaign has a lot of verisimilitude
Anon, all my races are gooncore. Even the orcs.
>>98010069I should go to that guy's palpeon to see more.
>>98005157Funnily enough there's recent precedentThe most recent G-Reco movie has a scene, right at the there, where Aida (the love interest) is missing her hair scrunchie and is looking for it. A crewman, Kerbes, casually passes it to her (since it was left in his room). This causes Bellri (the protagonist) to go insane and decide to fly off in the Gundam, leaving the ship to embark on his new adventure. This is real, by the way. It's a Tomino work, so the characters behave in fucking weird ways.
>>98004199Elves are very sexy and also incredibly promiscuous in my milieu.
>>98010181Lineage 2 orcs can get it.
>>98010096AI is a godsend for space babe art albeight, barely anyone made/makes it otherwise
>>98004760What will you do, cuckanon, when the PCs fuck each other?
>>98010351I mean they're all dudes, and none of them are homos. I guess they could cyber-fuck each other on their own time if they want, but it's really not my problem.
>>98010207Forgot my clip.
>>98005213>>98005229>>98009043It also plays into the romantic fantasy of being good enough to"marry up." Princesses, magical elves, advanced technology space babes, ESPers, female genies, beast girls, etc. are all forms of "better than normal" romantic interests. >>98010436>>98010207The G-Reco situation is weird. Aida and Bellri are actually biological siblings.
>>98004199nocause thats retardedi only include a bunch you probably dont wanna fuckand the bara husbandobait kronk himbo race.
>>98004199>>98004208Should have waited longer before replying to yourself so it would be more believable.
btw I'm one of that guy's players, we all make fun of him in the GC (he doesn't even know there is one, it's never occurred to him to ask lmao) for trying so hard to "cuck" us in an imaginary game thatv we barely care about and completely forget exists the instant we're not playing lol. he's the only one of us who isn't happily married too. kek
>>98005039>I would discourage you from having a character with a fianceeThat would be a big red flag. What kind of GM wouldn't want a player character that actually has ties to the world? You would come off a s really suspicious if you tried discouraging someone from making a character with a family.
>actually player characters shouldn't have relationships or ties This is from the 1% of the board that even claims to play games btw. No wonder you get the dumbest takes you've ever heard here.At least we can post hot babes
>>98011612Trying too hard
Yeah, the OP definitely is LMAO
>>98011640NTA but I sort of get itSometimes you want players to build up their relationships 'on the table' rather than having elaborate backstories. When running the old Pathfinder Adventure Paths, especially Age of Worms, I generally preferred the PCs to be COMPLETELY new to the setting i.e. They're just novices with no ties to anyone important. Anything like that should develop organically.
>>98011892Who are their parents?
>>98011907They don't matter for the purposes of the campaign, no?
>>98011924Oh, so they do have ties.
>>98012052I mean, how so? Their parents aren't going to be important and will never show up, presumably. >"My dad was a hedge mage and my mother was a seamstress."
>>98012072You don't know what the players will do, and you don't know if their parents will be important to them.
>>98012128But isn't that the point thoughThey're entirely irrelevant, so they're a non-factorIt wouldn't make sense to drop something like "Oh you're actually the King's bastard son" on a PC
Huh, not a single porn goblin yet.
>>98012145No. The players decide what's relevant to them.
>>98012240The DM's the one running the game, though. It's like, it's fine if you want to find another game, but I think it makes more sense if the party doesn't have any backstory that complicates matters.I've always felt that "This current adventure is the most important thing in the lives of the PCs", nothing before that is as interesting or as relevant as the campaign unfolding right now.
>>98004741Just make them beautiful as that what matters mostI had a race of elves known as royal elves in a older setting of mine who were pretty much the gooncore race and they actively encourage such behavior for a rather depressing reason, it somewhere in my old notes but I can remember some of it by memory The Royal elves or Children of the Sun as they call themselves, were described as tall and beautiful race who that live within majestic marble cities, viewing all the other races with arrogance and disgust as royal elves were known for their intelligence, their arts and culture were advance and their arcane was unmatched. It was said due to their massive ego and arrogance that they constantly refuse to help the other races in times of need for why should they help the shorter lived races? but it was due to this that it was said their very own gods punished them by causing great devastation upon their homeland, plagues and invasions from outsiders, gnolls and orcs being the most common had decimated their numbers to a near extinction but they fought back the invaders and found themselves low in number, so low that any offspring among themselves would be inbred within a few generations no other choice the last members of their ruling council made a rather desperate edict, to reproduce with non-royal elves, humans mostly being the most suitable candidate, I took a idea from the elder scrolls where interspecies offspring be the mother race so naturally this edict was for second and third born female elves, first born had to marry a another male elf and male elves were outlaw from marrying and reproducing with a non-elf (although there was a loophole by classing them as a "slave" though) and so female elves went out to find anyone suitable they could find by any means In recent times of the setting this was over as their race has return to more stable numbers but it still remains in memory and a few rather dirty jokes about female elves and sex pests
I found out there's a mass effect homebrew of WEG's star wars which would be cool to play. When you remove reapers and associated elements it's a pretty generic setting, so it's not difficult to do classic space opera plots in it while still keeping the right flavor
>>98012986there's also a Genesys hack if you're into that sorta thing
>>98010313Looks like shit
>>98004238Xhe's been posting variations of this exact copypasta for at least three years. Kinda sad that xhe's never played a game in all that time.

>>98014079Genesys is built on the bones of FFG Star Wars, and people like that system. You can ask around in the Genesys general if you have questions.>>97841240
>>98014122I know, FFG's star wars was how I first learned about genesys. The proprietary dice and incredibly segmented presentation of the rules (want to look up alien race X and class Y? Better break out book A and B in addition to the main rulebook) makes it more difficult to play than I suspect it actually is if you have the information and tools you need collected and accessible. Can be done and I've seen some good spreadsheets, I just haven't done it yet
