I read through the quickstart and I liked the concept of it. It seems good for getting new players hooked.

After Symbaroum, I no longer trust Quickstarts or previews or samples.
>>

oracles seem a bit too specific in concept

>>98021559
I thought the same. Doesn't really seem right to me that they grant knighthood.

>Symbaroum
Not familiar with that game. What did it do wrong? Mythic's seemed fine, it had all the rules from what I could tell i needed to run it.

Is symbaroum that bad?

It is superb for pickup and play. My favorite TTRPG book I actually bought so far (obviously because of Quinn). Run about 3 sessions for randoms and 6 sessions for friends, but would like to make it into a Western Marches style campaign for the local community.
Negatives:
- Oracles are just weird. You need to be a master improviser for these to work. They are hit-or-miss for me.
- Some moves are overpowered. I nerfed the gambit that makes a weapon d4.
- You need more prep than it is implied. You probably need to think about your lore, NPCs, and construct more sights in advance.
- I made my own character sheets with the main rules on them. This way, onboarding is seamless. I don’t know why authors still make minimalist character sheets for such games.
Positives:
- The only type of hex-crawl I liked so far. Playing hot-or-cold, having a simple cheat sheet about how the quest unravels.
- Clear frame of how the world works that can be built upon.
- Story can go unpredictable for you and players.
- Comments from the author about how the game suppose to work instead of vague GM advice.
- No minmaxing charbuild bullshit, but still some meat to how things work, not just nogames improv.
- The game easily creates a certain atmosphere. It was cool to add quests based on The Green Knight and The Seventh Seal here. I doubt I could make such pieces of media work in any other game.

>Oracles are just weird
What are they?

I'm interested in this, I head good things about the one that came before, and it looks like this is pretty hyped up.

Se energy as a classic

By orcales I mean different randomizers, "spark tables". They should help with improv, but no so much for me.

If you thought I talk about Seers, NPC who help knights, they are just wierd content in a good sence. But they are hard to role-play and it may be hard for players to opt in.

Game even has them in colontituls. Looks need, but I kind of find them useless. Maybe I need to try and play this game more.
>>
>>98022510
Ah, so they're random generation charts? I thought the game had some sort of NPC influencing what happens in the game like ryuutama with dragons or something.
>>
>>98021534
I tried to read though it, something about it my brain bounced off of.

Bait and switch?

It has Seers.

>SEERS
>• Those who understand the nature of Myth enough to glimpse into our future.
>• Their visions grant legitimacy and direction to a Knight’s quest.
>• They know when a Squire is ready to become a Knight, and when a Knight is ready to seek the City.

and

>Seers know the rules of all Myths, their secrets, and their locations. They know their weaknesses, and cures to their maladies. They know all Landmarks in the Realm. Such vast knowledge isn’t given freely.

>For example, take Myth 6, the Goblin.

>Omen 2 describes “A lost lad, full of stories. Claims a little old man called him into the woods.”

>All locals know about children going missing, and stories of a strange old man in the woods off to the north-east.

>A Seer knows that this is, in fact, the Goblin, and would know that he can only claim lost things, unable to steal for himself. They even know where to find his lair.

So, they kinda serve like Gaze into the Abyss in Monsterhearts, an always-available "I'm lost, halp" thing, but Seers are all a bunch of messed up weirdos, who - as noted - won't help for nothing. For example, the first Seer in the book is The Rotted Seer:
>• Their withered touch is only contagious if they will it.
>• Sees the way to live on through any amount of physical decay.
>• Wants to become even more rotten, filthy, and diseased.
