Another progress update on the chinork scratchbuild. Meant to hold off until I'd reconciled the side guns and nose gun housing but it's been slow going. I'm paying the price for rushing the fuselage a bit, I'd planned for the rattler kannons to be at the front doors but didn't leave holes for them or build in the swivels before closing that area off so now I'm having to cut it in after, but it should work out fine.And the nose gunner turned into a happy accident. I hadn't completely settled on where I wanted the twin-linked big shoota to land, I was originally toying with having it sit on the roof between each rotor, and having a hatch and ladder in the passenger compartment leading to it, but as you can see that would have been quite cramped. But eventually I realized I built the nose a bit too high relative to the passenger compartment, and then it clicked that it should be accessed as a crawlspace under the pilot cabin, which has an elevated floor so the position of the viewports is sensible. A grot goes it, either through a hatch inside somewhere, or through one of a couple emergency hatches I'll be adding as details on the exterior, and controls the gun in a prone position.A question, for anyone following along who cares. I will have landing components of some kind but I am still waffling on which direction to go - the chinook has a set of small wheeled landing gears, so that would be more authentic to evoking its design. But I'm also considering a set of skates instead which tie it more to the design of the deffkoptas, giving it a bit of "big brother" energy compared to those. Can't decide which, so feel free to weigh in.

These previews, just like the 10th ed ones, really prove that there ARE protagonist and NPC factions in 40k and it’s just part of the game. In fact I’d go so far as to say there are protagonist, rival, supporting character and NPC factions and they all get a different level of rules support and favouritism.If you pick and play an NPC faction you literally only have yourself to blame when you get garbage and limited rules support. You chose it! Sometimes things can change, like Eldar were formerly a rival but are now a supporting character faction (worse for them) but you have to know Tau, Votann, Sisters, etc. are ALWAYS going to be NPCs.
