For real. It looks like they got someone who's entire portfolio up to that point was covers of trashy novels for women in they're 40's. For fuck's sake we KNOW what Ghal Maraz looks like exactly. What the fuck even is that hammer?
>>
Well this was a huge disappointment. I expected better sculpt quality based on the reveal trailer. What the fuck is this giant block of plastic pretending to be a loin cloth?

that is 'we want to make these as cheap as possible and fit as many as we can in a sprue'
the actual skull wich is the most important part on skellies it's also ugly and boring
>>

Okay but what's the cost and for how many?
Because that's an old 30mm beveled base and that makes me think of Anima Tactics and Malifaux.

Really I expected better from Duncan based on the quality of his paint range. The slightly wonky skulls I could look past, but that just screams low quality model.
That sucks ass because they looked like they would make for good Sylvanian skeletons or Grave Guard.

The one where they introduced aspiring champions to ride dragons? The one where they completely neutered wood elves and any faction that relied on poison? They walked around the whole monstrous mount issue as well, its not as much of a problem before the 1.5 faq, sure, but its still the best thing for most factions internal lists before anything else, and no, im not counting legacy factions. I could go on. Also fuck off with calling me a doomer, its standard gw fare with their balancing, im not gonna pretend the game is perfect and suck James cock.

The FaQ was fine and made Infantry playable.
Chaos is fine as long as you aren't a retard.
Poison changes were fucking gay to be fair.
Cathay did much more damage IMO.
>>
>>98070391
>The one where they completely neutered wood elves and any faction that relied on poison?
Wood Elves are really good if you use a lot of waywatchers and bows. Keep up with the meta, instead of quoting things as they were almost half a year ago. Wood elf poison with bow spam is still very good. It didn't break anything.
>>
>>98070358
Slaanesh models are great. I plan on getting all the Juan Diaz Slaaneshi stuff, hopefully I get to expand my collection with time. Got one Daemonette on Steed by him and that's about it for now, lol.
>>
>>98070411
Surely there must be better skeletons at some point. If GW released a skeleton range based on these guys from Underworld they would be a great replacement for the old Fantasy skeletons IMO. It's possible. Someone just needs to do it.
>>
>>98070336
best I can do is give you a wishlist of things I want to see.
1. a reason to take level 2 and 4 in spell casting. I suggest something light like allowing a single die re-roll on spell gen, or only allowing a signature spell if they aren't level 1.
2. Return frenzy to every turn, or at least allow it to work on the turn they get charged.
3. Stupid causes the model move its movement characteristic directly forwards. If it touches an enemy it counts as a charge.
4. Change Press of Battle to be units in Close order only.

I dont think I want to. Im not playing the meta, im trying to play the game, and if the army I like needs me to play "the meta" to see any dynamism, then the faction has been failed.
Yes I know we were talking about wood elves so you likely need to play the meta to begin with.
>>98070412
>made Infantry playable.
Made SOME infantry playable, and some more than others. It pretty much just buffed what was already strong to be stronger and everything else is still not worth your attention for most factions. The only thing I can think of that benefited from the new changes that actually made it spike up harder from trash tier was like, empire spear-men?

half of those look silly, and those already evolved into the aos breakdancers and the other warband wich is passable at best

> It's possible. Someone just needs to do it.
sure they 'tried', yet here we are, nobody seems to want to capture the same aesthetic, it's either too cartoony or plain bad
>>
>>98070540
"Good lists" and the shit im looking at is msu archers that somehow makes list building in 40k look better. This is worse than pre faq, people at least seemed to have the liberty of taking sisters of the thorn beforehand. Hell there was even a consideration for rangers. At least people are sometimes taking treekin, but again, msu.
>>

That should be the ideal. Mantic has the best skeletons on the market, better than the dogshit that are grave guard and the fb skeletons.

Valid when it comes to the modern GW skeletons, but the Velmorn warband are Grave Guard, which have always been heavily armored.
Hence why the Sepulchral Guard should be a full kit of lightly armored and naked skeletons.

I'm here for the game, but now with 3d printing (even shitty FDM cause its what I got access too), I can have custom shit for everything. I'm having a great time.

the HH range is extremely limited with no plastics so it isn't really the same, plus they are extremely niche in HH compared to fantasy where daemons are inclusions in the biggest faction and are a faction in their own right with five iterations. Also summoning is a playstyle that thus far has been basically omitted from the game but many would want to return.

Question for 7e grogs: if the champion has two hand weapons can he use them even if to the rest of the unit can't? For example when a dwarf thunderer uses two pistols that count as two hand weapons while the rest of the unit would use a hand weapon and a shield or when a dwarf engineer uses the same two pistols while the rest of the warmachine crew uses just hand weapons.
>>
>>98071241
Ngl anon, those look really bad and don't jive with the whf beastmen aesthetic at all. They're just too clean and consistent looking from model to model, making them look like a coherent homogenous race rather than a bunch of mutated chaos rape monsters which is what beastmen actually are.
And they'll look even worse if you try to do more than one rank of them, looking even less like whf and more like raid night on moon guard.

Been working on my Longbeards, they have the exact same protrusion. Old metal Hammerers too. What I do is go case by case. Sometimes I leave it alone and stick the shield on and it fits properly, other times it sticks too far out and I cut it down a little or completely leaving it smooth. Just depends.

Hammerer. A few of these I've cut the nub down completely so that it *mostly* just blends in with the back of the sculpt, as I simply don't have enough of the old shields that came with these OOP models. Also fwiw these are 1996 meaning there is a little lead in the blend, so keep that in mind if trimming.

Aha thanks a bunch anon. So as I suspected these originally came with fitting shields to slot on, good to know. I don't have anything like that though, so I guess I'll just cut it off entirely then.
>Also fwiw these are 1996 meaning there is a little lead in the blend
I did noticed the metal was way softer than what I'm used to with white metal minis... Good to know.
>>98074990
>whaa are you overthinking this anon
Yes constantly, both with hobbying and life more generally really. Decision paralysis is my no1 demon.
>i had some old shields with a little circular divot in the centre
Ah yeah that's the thing, my mini came without anything like that and I also have never seen shields like that before (I'm not much of an oldhammer collector) so I wasn't sure what the purpose of the nubs was.

>I'm planning to do is sculpting a full set of arms playing a lute onto a torso (for the unit musician), which is a big step beyond in skill I think.
That would require some sculpting skills, such as making a wire armature for the arms and then adding weight to them using epoxy putty of your choice and then adding details, which isn't something i've done but if you just modifying an already existing model, it's probably easier to hand-sculpt it than learning to use 3D Max and then printing your pieces
>>
As a newfag to miniatures, I'm getting one(1) singular metal model soon and wondering if I need any special tools for it. Would really rather avoid buying anything for just one model if I can make do without. Mainly wondering if the metal is soft enough that I can carve into it a bit with some cheap knives I don't mind ruining, and if a metal nail file will suffice for filing some bits.
It's an older GW character model in about 5 parts if that makes a difference. I know you can reinforce bits by drilling holes and adding little pegs, but this model is pretty small so I would assume glue would be enough? I don't really know.

you guys think this is worth 50 of my finest shekels?
>>
>>98075479
Just tell us which model anon, vagueposting like this doesn't really help. *Generally* though, a good superglue and a jeweller's file should me the only tools you'd need for most metal minis. Also don't get what you mean by "carve into it."
>>98075121
Yeah, the whole wire armature thing is going to be a complete PITA I can see it from here.
>printing your pieces
For what its worth I have a good friend that's really into 3d printing and has like 2 fdm and 1 resin printer, so that part at least I wouldn't need to learn to handle.
>>
>>98075479
Depends on the size of the model and whether it has multiple parts or not. Larger models in multiple pieces will require a pin vise and two part epoxy glue (or super glue) to hold.
>if the metal is soft enough that I can carve into it a bit with some cheap knives... and if a metal nail file will suffice
Anything you normally use on plastic will work on metals. Even sandpaper.
>>98075495
You're a fucking FOOL if you don't buy these at that price. I recently paid $100 for Lucrezia Belladonna there alone (NIB, but still)
>>
>>98075495
50 usd? great deal, love those big booby damsel models.
>>
>>98075479
Clippers are a better bet than a modelling knife imo

Some price estimates for you
>5e plastic KOTR
$5 each
>5e sorceress on foot and mounted
$50
>5e paladin
$70
>5e QK metals from their main box
$200
>Louen Leoncoeur, no hippogryph
$50
So yeah, any one of these alone would be worth 50 smackers.

You don't need anything special to work with metal miniatures as opposed to plastic ones with the sole and hopefully obvious exception of needing to use superglue instead of plastic cement.
Pinning is a slightly advanced technique that's only important for big or stupidly posed miniatures. You'll be fine, just remember to keep an eye out for wormies (little strands of metal that got shot out of the mould during casting) and remove them (carefully!) before you prime. Some of them can be sneaky.
Semi-related, I'm working on a metal model that will serve as a sorcerer of Tzeentch.

>fucking LUCREZIA BELLADONNA
50 dolluhs would genuinely be cheap for these if they were recasts

Cheers anons, I'll just use what I've got lying around for the metal fella.

It comes with 30 bowmen too.

Hey guys I'm a first timer, currently I'm playing in a campaing with some dudes, as the campaing progress the army point gets bigger. Today I got a 250 points boost.

So for a lizardmen army which is better to add a troglodon, a stegadon or a bastiladon?
>>
How likely are we to see Vampire Counts come to the Old World with all of the bloodlines represented?
>>
>>98075719
Bastiladon is basically a tax every lizardmen army pays it's so essential- boosting your entire army's initiative so they can hit before great weapons at least is extremely important, and the laser when it goes off is pretty much your only decent artillery option (unless you run renegade Salamanders, they're ok also.)
>>
>>98075757
lmao
>>
>>98075757
Maybe, but not anytime soon
>>
>>98075757
>Vamps come back as a proper faction
>Sylvania is still fucked up from the failed vampire wars, so narratively it's a bunch of minor Von Carsteins and the other Bloodlines being more active
>New plastic models for each bloodline
>New skeletons and grave guard
>Models for new units like Patchworkmen, Knockers, and Wicker Man
Not soon enough that's for damn sure.
>>
Haha, beasts.
>>
>>98075719
>>98075769
Ill agree that bastilodon is practically a must. Also, a stegodon is borderline WAACfag depending on the current point limit because its close to being the lizardman dragon equivalent. Against some armies in a low point game it could single handedly win the match.
>>
>>98075857
You forgot an r

Those monopose plastic bowmen are literally worthless. Metal archers, on the other hand, are practically gold.
>>

>>98075606
Oh yeah, and Lucrezia Belladonna is easily like $100 alone. I'd price that set at like $400.
>>
>>98074670
I think maybe it was designed for the old shields with the hole in the middle, so that it slots in
>>
Imagine if Warhammer fantasy has such passionate and immersive tables such as this?
>>
>>98075757
The YouTuber Pluckee who lives in Nottingham claims to have friends at GW who told him that Dark Elves and Vampire Counts are the first two returning Legacy factions.
>>
>>98076223
>it's another nottingham grifter
That being said those do seem like the two most likely armies.
>>
>>98076223
>"my buddies dad works for GW, he told me..."
>>
>>98076223
He also said we would be getting plastic grail and questing Knights at some point in the nearish future, but that seems pretty unlikely
>>
Decades after pouring over the Tomb Kings supplement from WHFB 6ed that I grabbed via Limerwire as a teen I will be getting the TOW box for the army. Incredibly happy with this, having spent dozens of hours over the years reading and re-reading and all but drooling over the beautiful miniatures pictures with my imagination running wild. I feel stupid buying into the KoW NotTomb Kings army now.
>>
>>98076319
You read like a homosexual. Not even a joke.
>>
>>98076319
Interesting,.care to share your painted Tomb Kings army?
>>
>>98076319
>I will be getting the TOW box for the army.
Hasn't it been discontinued recently?
>>
>>98075874
>Also, a stegodon is borderline WAACfag depending on the current point limit
That's wild that you apparently don't have a single dwarf or empire player in your group- one or two cannon shots & a stegadon is iced
>>
>>98076325
I should warn my wife in that case. Thank you for your vigilance, Anon!
>>98076326
Easy Anon, I need the box before I can paint the army. Unless you mean my KoW stuff in which case I will not be posting it out of shame and thick paint.
>>98076327
LGS has a few in stock, the owner has one held for me.
>>
>>98076188
There is literally not one single TOW player on planet earth who has the dedicated and enthusiasm to build a table like that, let alone play an actual game on it.
That's the difference between an actually HOBBYist whose hobby is playing Warhammer, and a TOW fan whose hobby is buying products, and occasionally playing a low effort low reward "game" to justify further spending
>>
>>98076319
Based. It’s a really really good box in terms of value. The Rulebook is really nice too in terms of quality. Feels nicer than the 7th/8th edition ones I have. Or sturdier at least.
>>
I sense an angry midget who own no models.
>>
>>98076347
It looks like close to 1500 points in TOW, which is great. I normally do not visit the LGS it is at, but I was buying the Wood Elf Battalion for my Wife for her birthday.
>>
>>98076352
Closer to 1250 iirc. But you can play around with lists and builds on this website. https://old-world-builder.com/. Whatever you do, make sure to build the cavalry as horse archers and not horsemen.
>>
>>98076330
I did mention "against some armies". Dwarfs and Empire can deal with it sure. The point being, its like taking a dragon. A bastilodon feels like adding a fun thematic unit to a good roster. Adding a Stegodon is straight up arms escalation. Which is doubly sad because it's not even on the same level as a dragon It's close though
>>
>>98076359
Thank you, I will do that. I am a sucker for skeleton archers. That site looks very helpful!
>>
>>98076319
>beautiful minis
>Tomb Kings core
Bless your heart.
Also beware the rulebook is horribly formatted/organized. It's a known issue. I hope you have someone that knows the game to start off. Also don't prime them black, Wraith Bone or just white would be ideal.
>>
>>98076373
>the rulebook is horribly formatted/organized. It's a known issue
Mind-blowing considering GW is the biggest wargaming company in the world with the largest staff and highest budget. There are literal boomers creating solo project wargames in their sheds who get the formatting right first try on an old Windows XP computer
>>
>>98076384
GW isn't a wargaming company.
>>
>>98076373
The miniatures have a very regally Harryhausen look to them. Hard for me not to love them, even if I ignore my nostalgic yearning to have owned them. There are a few players at the LGS I mainly go to, I will try to grab a PDF of the rulebook and make a spiral bound printed version of the rules for daily use. I was going to grab some Vallejo khaki or white primer, thanks for the warning!
>>
>>98076223
Everyone who isn't totally fucking retarded knew this already.
>>98076313
>plastics for one of the (now) best-selling factions which desperately needs a range refresh
Literally NEVER happening, NEVER!!!!!!
>>
Tomb chads will always be welcome here. May Brendan Frasier smile upon you, alimony warrior.
>>
>>98076384
TOW originally was given to the D team retard interns whose only exposure to history/fantasy is Warhammer and shitty MMOs. This is why the rulebooks are formatted like shit, half the new miniatures look like WoWslop, and the sole new BL book was a laughable total embarrassment.
>>
>>98076427
>half the new miniatures look like wow slop
Outside of the foot knights I cannot think of another example. The releases have been very good.
>>
>>98076384
>He thinks GW allocates any budget to rules writers
The games exist to sell models, not the other way around. Making rules for the games is barely better than a minimum wage job

Beasts/Warriors/Smattering of Demons and soon Kings. Not sure if I am a chad, but I have armies I love and adore. Thanks Anon.
>>
>>98074291
Ok.
That is the design I was wanting after all. The army I'm going for is a wood elf sorceress who gets blessed by Slaanesh to get her wish to be a terrorist and torturer. The army is a mix of corrupted woodelves and slaanesh beastwomen.
>>
>>98076188
is that lut gholein?
>>
>>98076361
Can you guys explain how the stegadon is good with the current rules? I’ve been away for a while and I love Lizardmen. I thought the army sucked for ToW?
>>
>>98076408
Useless fantasist.
Stop speculating on things you have literally no data on.
>>
>>98076577
It can do rampant fuckery with the way the rules are set up involving challenges/stomps, a really heavy statline, and the ability to have 2 guarenteed (possibly 3 with a good roll) magic missles on top of a few shots of poison javelins for good measure. Also giving the +1 to cast to all nearby spell casters means you can have a couple naked skinks doing good work with spells.

The army does suck in ToW though. Their few positives aren't aligned with their negatives. They need a point cost decrease on many things, and the poison nerf in 1.5 really gutted their power. Their core tax is heavy even though its a decent unit. They're outgunned, out maneuvered, and out performed in basically every manner.
The best way to fix them without making a big change is replace every scaly skin with the actual light/heavy armor and give every unit in the army armored hide 1 (maybe not skinks).
>>

Does Games Workshop have the copyright on their skull sculpts or something? Why do Games workshop skeleton heads just blow everyone else away. Very fortunate they just sell a box of skulls.
>>

>>
>>98076427
Sorry but that's not an excuse. GW employees are professionals by definition, there is zero reason their rulebook should be worse than some boomers Word doc, D team or otherwise

No, it was a game at Partizan 2026, set in the Siege of Lucknow during the Indian Rebellion
