Are traditional games as a hobby populated by people who are aggressively autistic or is just this board in particular?
>>
We've unfortunately collected some of the dregs that have either been banned or are afraid of being banned from other websites. Just do your best to ignore them and not get caught up in their autism. It's a contagious disease after all.
>>
>>98070209
Both, the hobby is inherently attractive to spergs, but this board (really this whole website) is disproportionately autistic.
>>
>>98070209
Both

Most of the people here have never played shit. Didn't used to be that way, but 4chan's misbegotten reputation as being the tough guy edgelord culture warrior stronghold has given us a lot of third world IQ subhumans who think the only way to fit in here is by being as obnoxiously stubborn and antagonistic as possible about the dumbest possible shit.
>>
It is kinda fascinating how a hobby that kinda requires you to have bare minimum social skills and go out and talk to other human beings and cooperate with them can still attract some of the most autistic, dense, anal retentive individuals on this site. It's insane how someone will freak out at someone else for not operating on the super niche and personal definitions he works with, that no one else does. And that's not counting the rest of obviously jobless hikikomori who spam the same things almost daily and try to force something on the board. And so much other annoying retards, I don't know how anyone here can function irl.

I think a lot of people like who you're talking about have never played a game and instead saw someone else playing it (like Critical Role) and read up in the comments that they were playing it incorrectly, so they learned all the rules for a game that they'll never play so they can be rules lawyers to a social hobby despite lacking the skills to actually participate in the hobby themselves. Then, after enough people complained, they got banned from wherever they were and came here to argue with similar people with no intention of actually discussing or playing a tabletop rpg.
>>
>>98070560
>and instead saw someone else playing it (like Critical Role)
This is a miss. CR and 5e threads barely stay afloat.
>>
>>98070575
Now they do, but /tg/'s downfall started around the time Critical Role was first becoming popular, along with Stranger Things.
>>
>>98070209
>>98070242
There are some actual good users on /tg/, but the chronically online schizos who like to LARP like wanna be jannies are one of the worst on the site.
>>
>>98070627
There's a laundry list of things that caused /tg/'s downfall. Not sure if its feasible to narrow in on specifically just that.
>phone posting
>2016 beacuse of /rpol/
>2016 because of /leftypol/
>covid
>nazimod
>zoomers
>CR
>5E
>Warhammer 40k
>Quests
>Removing quests
>Neckberdia
>CREST
I'm sure there's more.
Not sure how you'd link CR popularity to persistent shitposters.
>>
>>98070665
/tg/ was definitely dead before COVID, quests and their removal were definitely a part of /tg/'s decline but I wonder which lead to it more, the people who left because there was so many quest threads, or the people who loved the quest threads and didn't want to use /tg/ anymore since they were removed?
>>
>>98070698
Obviously removing shit from something will result in a decrease higher than just leaving it there. Unless the shit there is a black void, like the janny faggot posting which is never banned for some reason
>>
>>98070698
>/tg/ was definitely dead before it had the most posting for several years.
...when do you think it was good? It feels like the 2016-2017 era was peak content posting, numbers and game discussion. 2010-2014 was good but different, closer to old internet exploration.
The quests thing has always been funny to me, along with in general arguments that xyz floods the catalogue, but its possible the poorly focused and weak willed can't just look at the catalogue and find what they want and get overstimulated.
>>
>>98070209
You don't have to be autistic to play here but it helps.
>>
>>98070560
I don't mean just rules, I mean the definitions of everything, down to the most abstract concepts. It does feel like bots sometimes
I agree that there's a lot of no games here but a lot of them can easily just stick to lore and stay quiet when talking about games
>>
>>98070819
>everyone else is so autistic why can't the nogames just stick to their category?
lol
>>
>>98070560
>I think a lot of people like who you're talking about have never played a game
Bingo! The most virulent, aggressive retards talking about the "real" way to play TTRPGs either don't play or cannot keep a game going to save their lives. I think some of them are chasing the high of unchecked social authority that comes from being an "old school gygaxian" DM, so they love to bitch and seethe about storyshitters and narrative games, because they think the hobby should be a table full of white alpha male chads who are also wholly subservient and accepting of one guy being a powertripping dickhead who cannot be questioned, because that's how they think RPGs are played.
>>
Since when did this cohort of subhumans talking about "no games" and "games" like if was an award winning price shit came here? I feel like I started to see this dumb idiocy very recently, maybe from the same discord of spammy wanna be jannies. Would be interesting to search the archive to expose them.
>>
>>98070665
>>98070698
>starting with 2016
Real downfall started in 2010 with MLP. Got far worse with GamerGate where nearly all of the oldfags exodus'd, then the board was sold off the Hiroyuki who is verifiably a malicious retard who replaced all the staff with tranny redditors who hate this entire site and everyone on it, and then the 2016 election happened, flooding the site with more redditors, shills, disinfo agents, foreign agents, and so on. And right around the apex of all of that shit, quests were finally given their own board. After everyone left. After all activity that wasn't astroturf political shitflinging was at an all time low. When the average user was a malicious newfag surrounded by other malicious newfags.
>>
>>98070209
I have said here that it takes some level of being on the spectrum to care about imaginary characters and make rules for make-believe.
>>
>>98070896
I said that
>>
>>98071242
I know. You fit in just fine don't worry.

janny application get denied?
>>98070209
fuck off, newfag
>>
>>98070665
>40k
/tg/ was made for warhammer
>>
>>98072916
And that's a bad thing.
>>
>>98070819
You also have to be extremely precise and detailed and explain every little thing you mean or someone on the spectrum will argue with it, especially if they are actually agreeing with you
Autism should be treated as dangerous as schizophrenia, it really makes someone worthless to society
>>
>>98072916
That's apocrypha
>>
>>98072916
True enough, but it was also, from day one of its creation, called "/tg/ - traditional games" and not "/wh/ - Warhammer 40k", and nearly 20 years later we're still arguing about it because 40k spergs feel like they have total dominion of a board that was always meant to be shared with other games and topics
>>
>>98076616
>True enough,
There's actually zero evidence to support the warhammer fags claim that moot made /tg/ because of them beyond more warhammer fag claims based on similar zero evidence.
