I miss the era of big pauldrons and that unique Lodoss-esque aesthetic (it's in Slayers too). There's something really classic about it.

Not a visual medium, retard
>>
Yeah, it looks a little silly but much nicer than the Space Marinesque pauldrons that everybody started using after World of Warcraft came out.
>>
>>98071250
I'm pretty sure they were drawn that way to make them easier to animate.
>>
>>98071250
I don't
90s anime is cool but that particular element never looked good

How much would they weigh?
30lbs?

Is there ANY possible functional explanation for their size?
>>
>>98072147
Deedlit's probably weigh 5lbs at most.

I like it too
I think it probably came from mecha anime or something, or both adopting real life fashion senses(big 80's shoulder pads on women)
>>
>>98071321
Realizing Warcraft's stupid aesthetic descends from Warhammer explains everything
Both suck
>>
>>98071250
I used to hate pauldron core.
I didn’t know yet that I would get succeeded by game of thrones mud core and later 5e Alphabet soup core.
We didn’t know how good we had it.
Muscle chads and booba stacies with stupid ass armors
The armors didn’t get any more realistic either since then just lamer
>>

You’re skipping like
Decades

Probably because you weren’t alive but still
>>
>>98071250
Traditional games?

I don't. Away with pauldronslop
>>
>>98072758
Isn't the vast majority of fantasy obsessed with nostalgia or "looking back"
>>
>>98072500
How did your last session in said game go?
>>
>>98072932
What game?

Realms of Terrinoth went for the heavy pauldroncore.

Not at all. Even Tolkien was more interested in the discovery of the past, not the worship of it. We have been in cultural decline for the last two decades. The best we can hope for is something will break as the seats give way under the weight of those who have feasted on suffering.

>We have been in cultural decline for the last two decades
Six decades, you mean.
>>
>>98073189
Five centuries, you mean
>>
I guess I don't hate them, I just hate the way Warcraft did them for some reason
>>
>>98072147
Is there ANY possible functional explanation for not working on your art?
>>
>>98076699
You lost. It's all about "post your minis" and "traditional games?" now
