Why are aro cyoas so brain numbingly bad? I can feel my iq lowering whenever I try to read them

>>98073914I can only find one in her last 13 CYOAs that fit that description, are you sure?
>>98073965Yes, I don't have time to point it out and I may have missed a couple of her cyoas but it's very common. The only one I know doesn't have one is the one where you mind control a super heroine, the NSFW one, all the others I read by Aro have at least 1 if not more.
>>98073987There's one in Nexus: Gateway and a possible one in Eigenweapon I believe, but I can't find one in any of the others that I'm looking through. Nothing in Demigod, Ultimate God, Timewalker, Borderworlds, or Nexus so far.

>>98074186
>>98074177Nah. You can self insert more than once. Kind of like how Miyazaki self inserted as his old self and his young self simultaneously. When you self insert, you’re inserting a point of time.

Aromage has this trend of making fictional worlds that nonetheless use the names of irl mythologies and gods and nations. Almost like Danmachi……
>>98074656Lol.If Aromage made Crapmachi she’d be a level 8 Amazonian. The only black person in the world in fact. She’s also the only token lesbian. Also her deity is her lover. Also no one else is in her familia except for her. Highly exclusive scissoring action.
>>98074822
The best thing about /cyoag/ is the authors. The worst thing about /cyoag/ is the authors.
>>98073764>Why are aro cyoas so brain numbingly bad? I can feel my iq lowering whenever I try to read themThe vast majority of Aro CYOAs are not bad at all. She has done some bad CYOAs, most authors have, and I'm not fond of her remaking every single CYOA she has made on a regular basis. She should just move on and make new CYOAs, and the stunt with turning Hermione black in Demi God was fucking retarded and very unnecessary. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy trolling and shitposting more than most, but that should never spill into your CYOAs. If an author doesn't take their own CYOAs seriously then how can anyone else? I may joke around about wanting to rape Aro and give her a lot of shit for remaking her CYOAs, which are perfectly good as they are and don't need remaking, but I recognize that she is a great CYOA author, one of the greatest in fact, and to say anything else is to fucking lie. And Tok's don't lie.

>>98074398The advantage of two low tier magics is that they don't have to do the same thing.
>>98074398Lol. The magic system in Fairy Tail is the worst part about it. It’s like whacky wavy x-men. It’s inconsistent, and the power of friendship and spontaneous asspulls get to save the day, no matter how powerful the foe. Mushoku Tensei’s is better. Harry Potter’s is better. Danmachi’s is better. All for the simple reason that Fairy Tail is an up and down mess.

I’ve been out for a few years. The last big cyoa release I can remember was some sort of necromancer/lich-lord/evilbadguy focused thing where the author would assign a power to everyone who made a build for it. Has this thread produced anything I should go digging into the archive for since then?

>>98075749Actually I wouldn't I gave up on women along time ago, not because I couln't get one, but because I realised that real women simpy cannot compete with fictional women, fictional are perfect in every single way, they are idealised forms. Human women are flesh puppets with every concievable ruinous trait imaginable, and they age.
>>98075761Unfortunately, the one flaw is that we can't have sex with fictional women... yet

>>98075761>flesh puppets with every concievable ruinous trait imaginable, and they ageBut we also fall in that category.I like imagining romantic scenarios with fictional beings too, but it's masturbatory on some level. If everything about then is curated and they're literal puppets to your fantasies, it's love from yourself towards yourself.Puppets are worth less than the real deal by default.
>>98075299>I’ve been out for a few years. Aromage is updating Ultimate God (again.*A new author, Rake, has released a number of oddball gems. The thread was pretty obsessed with Luminary (a magical girl cyoa) for a while*PCA stealth-released Spirit Conscript, a cultivation cyoa that derailed the thread for quite a while.
>>98075793"Puppets" You don't understand what you're talking about, what's wrong with loving something that can't phsyically love you back, it's no different than dealing with real women whos psychology demands they look for another mate when you can no longer fulfil their wants. Forget it, love needs no feedback, if you love someone then you love them, how dare you imply that to be narcisistic masturbationWho says dreams and fantasies cannot be just as real as reality, do you not feel joy, sadness, hope, gratitude when you dream of various things? If dreams produce tangable emotions then the love felt for fantasy women is real the same.
>>98075814>what's wrong with loving something that can't phsyically love you backYou misunderstood me; I don't care about that aspect at all.I'm saying than people conjured out of your minds are also yourself, hence it's just yourself loving yourself. Even if I dream of eating a cake, I'm not deluding myself into thinking that dream cake is equal in any shape or form to the real cake. There is nothing wrong with dreams, though. Believing they're superiors to reality is where problems start happening in general.
>>98075850anon it's the escapism general
>>98075850In what way is eating a dream cake less than eating a real one if you feel the same emotions eating either one? I feel love towards fictional characters not solely from my own mind but books, anime, movies becasue what I see when I think of them is without flaw, but when I look at a real woman all I see are flaws.
>>98075408The Scientist, Rake, Scottishanon, Zuranon, and MiCha
>>98075883>In what way is eating a dream cake less than eating a real one if you feel the same emotions eating either one?I'm not sated after eating the first one.I can duplicate it, change the taste, expand it, make it neverending - but somehow, because of the absolute control I have over it, I won't look at it with the same consideration I'll have with the real cake that will disappear forever once I eat it.We're kinda getting off track. For me, at least, love is a harmonic conversation between two recipients. It doesn't even have to be another human - I love the sky, and the grass, and my pets, and you to some extent. However, if my love is directed towards a mental effigy, then I'm playing music with myself, and there is no conversation at all.

>>98075795>oddball gemsOddball?
>>98075814>love needs no feedback, if you love someone then you love them>doesn't think of his partner's feelingsNo wonder real women scorn you.
>>98075902If you feel it in your heart, it is real. Thank you for engaging with me I suddenly had a flash of realisation while forming my conclusions. I've never felt love of any kind from real people in my childhood not that I was abused or anything, no I just never once felt it, only from fictional characters. Only fictional characters have made me feel the recognisable emotion of love, while real people make me feel nothing. To you others may be vital, but for me because of my childhood experiences only fictional characters are capable of making me feel anything. It has and always will be that way.And I only feel gratitude to the fictional image of you I have conjured in my head, of a cute anime girl wearing glasses gazing serenely at the clouds. And since I have imagined you as a cute weak little girl I have won this argument.
>>98075968I'm happy our discussion brought you some kind of revelation, even if we don't have the same outlook.
>>98075985W-why are you posting my wip?
>>98075883Bro has advanced from imagining an apple to imagining the cooking and consumption of an apple cake
>>98075985>>98075987Because I saved everything they did, up and including this WIP? I had a few stories based around them.
>>98075995It's a funny coincidence.
>>98075985Wish I knew what to do with this, it's such a waste of so much effort. I desperately tried to make a CYOA I'd want to play multiple times
>>98075998...also, cyoas like this are heavily marked with their author. A bit like Heart Adrift! It feels...comfy, to immerse myself in such fantasies. It's like a secret hangout between me and the afterimage of someone else.
>>98075902>I love the sky, and the grass, and my pets, and you to some extent
>>98075161>I kinda dislike Ultimate god for making u way too op with no real threatsI think there are plenty of threats out there in the early stages. You become 'almost' untouchable only if you have a strong combat build and survive to become a monad. Though in the WIP, arseholes like Absurd Bridge are still a threat even then.
>>98075179Sparsity is the best way to include threats while still retaining the power fantasy. The trick is to make the reader understand that there are rare entities out there that can rival them, but that the reader is still far stronger than almost anything they will meet. That lets the reader enjoy the feeling of power tripping while at the same time forcing them to plan for and think about threats. Balancing and game mechanics can still be done around uncommon potential danger.
>>98076009>CYOA I'd want to play multiple timesDo you have existing examples?
>>98076057I only ever played Tankista's Worm CYOA more than once after countless years of being here..
>>98076059Tankie's OCs have a good replayability, true.Perhaps Heart Adrift and its kinda-sequel? A kitchen sink setting ala Witch Awakening? Something more emotional like Stupid Girl Feelings? What kind of world do you want to disappear into forever?
>>98076080I don't know, the reason I liked Worm so much was that it was a pre-existing setting I'd read the whole story for and that the powers Tank made were so unique I could imagine so many scenarios with each of them.It would need to be a franchise CYOA but beyond that I don't know.
>>98076096Have you tried his LOTM cyoa then? It's also based on a pre-existing setting. The original work is massive and pretty opaque on a first read, but having the CYOA nearby to explain things helped the experience.
>>98076031Do any of the choices actually help you with threats early on though? It doesnt matter if you have a combat build or not if an acient one decides to eat you.
>>98076108Furthermore I consider that tok must be destroyed
>>98076102I can suspend my disbelief that a random self insert can if not thrive then survive in Worm's world, but nothing can make me believe that I'd be able to survive a single step in LoTM, there's just too much fate manipulation and it's not really an enjoyable setting to be in, the powers come with too many downsides like the constant battle against madness
>>98076111A shame.Well, I might not be able to find something you like, but I'm sure you'll find it eventually. The CYOA sea is vast and new things are produced every week. Perhaps it just doesn't exist yet.

I use Druidic Magic to grow herbs and plants rapidly then use my alchemy skills to potions with a variety of effects. Fortune telling allows me to avoid dangerous situations I don't need to involve myself, combined with my lucky perk I shouldn't be in much trouble. I start with Wizard Saint level magical power, enough to be quiet powerful in the world. For longevity/immortality, I took the fountain of youth quest, druidic magic grants longevity and might allow me to create longevity potions when combined with alchemy, and I even have Mateo for immortality knowledge which might help in my own research there.

>>98076186It made one guy really mad.
>>98076137
>>98076108I was thinking about exactly that yesterday. The highest power you can wield at the start, when you can't access any of your true power, seems to come from the angel. The angel can bind with and become an autonomous ultimate weapon (grand relic), IF it has an inanimate form. The angel can also borrow a single power from you with celestial borrowing, and can apparently use them competently at the start (unlike you). I was thinking of taking mercury's speed as a secondary attribute. In combat that should let the angel move with crazy speed and do crazy damage. It's imperfect, and loses to ultima-tier threats obviously, but it still beats a lot of cosmic entity type stuff, and makes things far less dangerous. The ancient ones can't actually attack you within a multiverse because of the pact. I actually think that other ultima are a bigger threat, if they decide to kill you off. It seems like you just have to roll the dice on that one.For the ancient ones, specifically, having companions like Daoris or Zoe by your side could (maybe) dissuade them from attacking if you're caught in the void for some reason. Daoris is one of the oldest, and probably has a lot of influence out there.
>>98076159Have you tried making cyoas? It might ease your boredom.Furthermore I consider that Tok must be forced to marry BTG
>>98076241BTG doesn't deserve that.
>>98076241I think it's a retired author.Futhermore, I consider than Tok must be forced to apologize to every person he ever wronged.
>>98076226Now that I look at it, there do seem to be some things that you can do to protect yourself from other ultima, like taking Ash'Rah as an ally in the peers section. Being favored by her would probably dissuade ultima from attacking you recklessly, for fear of triggering her anger. You lose that protection if she decides to scatter herself. She is a monad at the end of her life, but hopefully by then you've grown enough to fight back.

Socrates had a fear that writing shit down would cause forgetfulness, which is a lot funny when people like Einstein famously said “why bother remembering it, if it’s already in a book somewhere?” since he preferred to “save up space” by not remembering any unimportant little details (…including his phone number, train tickets/destinations, etc, lol), and Socrates’ fears of cognitive offloading are more so exemplified by modern day technology like phones and AI, which are 1000x worse than books in regards to forgetfulness and cognitive atrophying.

>>98076993>It has been proven that writing things down causes people to forget quickerIt’s also proven that writing shit down helped secure information, education, and proliferated knowledge and put the white man ahead. The western printing press mogged Chinese calligraphy, and disseminated information a lot faster for the public. Geniuses suck at communication at times and this is why you have scientific orators to get their discoveries across.
>>98077002>It’s also proven that writing shit down helped secure information, education, and proliferated knowledge and put the white man aheadYesIt's much better for a civilisation but worse for the individualIt think we (As in you specifically and me specifically) have already argued and agreed on this specific point and agreed on this specific point
Skeptics who can only speak for knowledge rather than think for knowledge are also the people holding us back. “No, there’s nothing else to look for, stop it!”. How about no?
>>98077016>It's much better for a civilisation but worse for the individualNot really. It depends on the individual’s ability to learn. If they’re shallow learners who can’t beat information into their head hard and deep enough, then they’re just typical normies. Or they’re adhd brained.

>>98077050
>>98077054b-but think about the sex
>>98077049It’s worth pointing out that education in the classical sense (…..no screens…. lots more writing and reading…) is proven to install deeper levels of learning and memory than what we’ve done in the modern day and age. Power point presentations and computer screens and AI are not the way. People value a breadth of knowledge now over a depth of knowledge. It’s sad. This is the consequence of an over abundance of information in the world that gets increasingly and increasingly harder to sift through and micromanage and assess for truth/bullshit. This also prevents people from trusting sources, even genuine sources, even genuine experts. The age of information quickly became the age of misinformation and confusion. Not all information is good information. Even art is being diluted. The magic is lost, traded for another kind of magic. This trajectory was unavoidable. I wouldn’t blame humans too much for it. It’s just raising the bar for individuality. It just sucks when individuality and creativity is what put the white man ahead, and now uncreative infrastructural races/cultures like China will thrive off of the hard work of the white man who built the modern world and allowed for any of this to occur.

With enough effort and focus there will be a solution, and when it's found the sythysis of old and new will almost certainly be greater then the old(Although there are some ai risks before we get there, if we don't hit a compute limit. >>98078336nta but when I was in uni studying this exact topic they did teach us that oral traditions are usually better at maintaining a 1:1 copy of information than written records. It's because of the way you copy oral texts. You have to memorise them syllable by syllable. You can't easily edit them. You have to memorise each bit exactly as you were taught it.Meanwhile, when written texts are copied, scribes can literally just fuck up or they can misread a word or they can make deliberate edits for ulterior purposes.Writing is still very useful though because frankly it's a pain in the fucking arse committing things to memory in such a way that you'll remember it in five years' time. Meanwhile you can just write something and it'll be there for you.
>>98077718How else does it draw in the style of that artist without using that artist’s information, idiot?
