Fun with their mates as they work to build their armies and board, not everyone has access to fully complete terrain and such, most start from the bottom? Perhaps you can show examples of your own minis on how it’s done.

That's a realistically proportioned eagle pulling a magic boat occupied by elves that have proportions consistent with their species without exaggerated caricature. The concept of the hover boat is silly, but the aesthetic is appropriate to Warhammer Fantasy.
Furthermore: it's literally a Warhammer Fantasy model and so is something that (partly) sets the aesthetic.

That's a retarded mini from 8e, there's no justifying it. Many additions from 8e were retarded and a sign of what was to come.
>>
>>98082692
Hawk then.
It's a bad mini that came at the tail end of the game and was a sign of the decline and so few want to remember it. But it's got the aesthetic, just not the logic of other warhammer models.

>>98082688
It's their fun. They're like pedophiles or scat fetishists or something, they're just wired wrong. Our impulse to talk about Warhammer in an appreciative way is just as inscrutable to them.
I think the best course is to talk around it. On 4chan you can do whatever, you can simply not reply to posts you don't like, make your own, pick which posts you do want to engage in.
These can be slow threads so it might look like the thread is only full of shit for a while, but it'll usually pick up.

Yeah, Battle of Atluma was just a digital version of Warcry, no thrills, not even a campaign.
wonder why they chose to make it PSP exclusive. I would guess it was to appeal to the Japanese card game market, but I have no idea how popular Warcry was in that market, We know MTG barely scrapes by, and it's an incredibly competitive one compared to NA or Europe.
>>
>>98082711
>But it's got the aesthetic
What aesthetic? Tow contains like 6 different aesthetics, and so did whfb back in its day.
If foot knights, cathay, and the bird chariot can exist under the same aesthetic umbrella as old ass imperial dwarfs or the beastmasters, I don't think the big aos troll is suddenly a bridge (heh) too far.
>>
>>98082766
It's 2 high elves of the same design they had in 6th ed riding on a boat like the preexisting bolt thrower they have pulled by a hawk similar to the wood elves had from 6th.

Something from Warhammer Fantasy by necessity looks like Warhammer Fantasy.
Something that isn't from Warhammer Fantasy does not look more or even as appropriate as something from Warhammer Fantasy.
>>
>>98082841
I feel like if you lined up a bunch of available models from tow now + the big aos troll and then showed this to people not familiar with either game, most would not be able to pick up on the fact that the big troll is from a different game (assuming you put him on a square base)

Post your FaQ wishlist.
I will start:

Remove skirmish and make all skirmish units open order.

Shugengan Ward save is now 6+ and he costs +60 points

Revert poison.

A spell can only be cast successfully once per turn (no more spell scew)

press of battle on charges but it is disabled when charged by a unit with a first charge rule.

Frenzy works when you dont charge

remove light cover

Remove swiftstride
>>

Gay. If someone wants to bring 3 pyromancers or 3 goblin shamans, let them.

Skirmish as it is now has no place in a rank and flank game. On the top level of play it is, and I am not joking, ruining the game.
Light cover is the easiest to abuse rule ever. As long as only a milimeter of unit is not visible you suffer a -1 on shots. This makes no sense.

Bretonnia is currently playing 100%% skirmish avoidance to get anywhere. removing skirmish and swiftstride would make up for them semi ignoring press of battle.

>>98083083
So because I want to remove skirmish from a rank & flank game I, according to you, would prefer a 100% skirmish game?
>>
>>98083134
I don't think you can do much good with them, but sure, you could carve out bodies for a slayer, a king with shieldbearers, a rune priest and a banner bearer, at the very least
>>
>>98083195
Removing skirmish on cav is reasonable, especially monstrous cav. Removing skirmish on infantry (especially archers) is retarded and would remove a lot of flavor from the game, and skirmishers immediately go into rank & flank once combat begins anyway. It makes no sense for an archer or gunner unit occupying a building to be in fucking ranks and not spreading out to maximize visibility and rate of fire.
Light cover exists to encourage use of terrain and make movement and deployment more interesting. Without cover or hazardous terrain, there's no point in positioning your units any differently than some pre-planned optimal layout every single game. Maybe it could be improved by specifying 50%+ of the unit must be within cover to benefit from it.
>>
>>98083122
As an actual autist: bullshit. Autistic women dislike autistic men even more than regular women do, because their whole existence revolves around masking and so they abhor anything that makes them appear abnormal or even the type of person who associates with abnormality. If you want to recognise a female autist, you look for the most aggressively normiecore women, the kind of women who will devote half their life and multiple rooms of their house to "normal" things like canning or sewing, and who always want to talk about how they're doing normal stuff that everyday normal people do.

Goth chicks are just either attention seekers or BPD slags, and the latter glom on to autistic guys because they're often easy to manipulate and will assume their GF's heinous behaviour is somehow their fault or that they're being oversensitive.
>>
>>98083195
It seems like you want so much changed/removed you want a different game is why I said that anon.

At "top play" there is always some thing that ruins the game, meta fags are gay, dont be one.

>>
>>98083134
No. It'd be a complete waste of money for tow.
>>
>>98083241
Actual autist here as well and I sort of disagree. You're right that autistic women try to mask more (and are better at it than autistic men) but there are still clear autistic behaviors which sometimes manifest as "alternative" in some form in women, not necessarily goth, but often some flavor of abnormal subculture in which they feel more at ease. Just beware of the "quirk chungus" Jim Carrey impressionists, they are NOT autistic, they're actually deranged normalfags whose idea of being "le quirky nerd girl" is casually watching hyper-popular easily accessible Star Wars/Marvel level "nerd" (lmao) media, acting like more of a sperg than fucking Rain Man, and spamming faggot plebbit humor from like 2012, totally insufferable.

>>
>>98083241
>>98083314
I think you're both kind of right. There are definitely some autists (men and women) who find it easier to deal with an autistic girlfriend/boyfriend because they have more insight into their behaviour. But autistic men are likely to be more desperate and less choosy about this and so can fall for the kind of demanding/walkover gf the other anon describes.

BUT imo there's also a kind of anti-autism field that can occur between two autists where they really fucking hate each other, usually where one autist is perceivably worse than the other or where they are about as autistic as each other but one copes/masks/hides their powerlevel much more than the other. I think autists are drawn together by their special interests, not by inherent traits.

>We'd absolutely love to! We're such fans of the World of Legend that there's no corner of the setting we wouldn't be excited to bring to the RPG eventually - the challenge is working out what order to do it in. We're currently concentrating on supporting our core setting of Talabec with adventures, campaigns, etc before we expand elsewhere. It's important to provide a satisfying depth to game locations - we don't want to risk covering too wide an area shallowly, as that can limit its usefulness. Dom's already gotten overexcited and mentioned Nuln in an interview though, so watch this space for more!

Doubt it- they'll stick to their guns on keeping the 'AoS factions' locked to pdfs, so this is just wishlisting when Orgre refresh is already rumored for AoS.
I personally don't mind it since squarebase rules have done a decent job fixing the legacy factions, most communities have warmed up to them, & they've honestly warmed me up to the idea of a 3rd party fixing rules since they won't have a vested interest in trying to make me buy some pushed hypercompetitive model.

I don't think an engineer be an option for them. Perhaps an Ungol super horse archer?

>>98086141
It'll probably be Boyar as the general purpose, well, General of the Empire equivalent. With a Druzhina as the Captain equivalent (with BSB)
Probably have to wait for a Kislev Army of Infamy to get a specialist beatstick equivalent to a Grand Master or some such.
Two levels of Ice Witch, Lord level and Hero level (Frost Maiden) with two schools of magic (Tempest and Ice) to choose from.
A Patriarch to be a hero-level priest providing buffs. Maybe a choice of Cult of Ursun, Dazh or Tor for different prayers. Maybe bring in minor god Salyak like TWW did to have some healing.

The hags and their beasts of the forest would likely also be and Army of Infamy since all the beasts were Forgeworld models.

Lord and hero versions of most heroes are obvious, didn't need to bother mentioning that. Oh, and maybe instead of the golden knight hero it would be an ice guard hero.

As for the armies of infamy they'll probably be:
>cult army
>hag army
First Kislev wave will probably be the "main" Kislev (regular army, casters and priests) while the hags, monsters and woodsmen/trappers will probably come with a second wave of Kislev minis.

I've played a few megabattles and they either devolve into a couple certain patterns.

first of all, they're never 1v1. it always has to be a big group so that's the first assumption

second. when people deploy there's two major patterns, either people take up sectors or people spread their shit around.

IF they set up in sectors, this is the more optimal outcome, but it also means that generally you're fighting the guy across from you. but instead of an interesting battle you have to wait for the slow players on both sides to finish up before you can keep going with your spicy 1v1 that will probably have zero effect on the overall objective.

OR if you spread out, then it means every turn every combination of players has to resolve every possible attack meaning that rounds take forever.

Either way is actually gay as fuck.

I'd rather play the 2-3 regular games then play the 1 mega battle.

And in playing 2-3 regular games then you can make a narrative campaign for example a pitch battle, that sets up a defensive battle that leads to a siege.

which allows you to play quicker more varried games.

If you want a war experience, instead of a mega battle, have a campaign, with each battle contributing to the next battle in some way. Make it more creative than

>Battle but big (and slow and boring)
>>
>>98086774
>campaign
Nta, but I've been having this idea in my head of a map based campaign, where there is two copies of the same map with hexes and each player has one, and each move their armies at the same time but without seeing where the other is, almost like Battleship. And you can either keep your army all together in one big army, powerful but risk your enemy going around you and capturing a city or something, or split it into smaller corps so you cover more hexes but are weaker. You can send out cavalry if you have any as scouts to find your enemy, otherwise you only see them when they are on an adjacent hex.
The only problem I haven't figured out is, how do you keep the players from walking right past each other, since they can only see their own map? You would have to have a GM to tell when you're next to another players army or your scouts found them. I am trying to find a solution to get rid of the GM but I can't think of something.

Also I read about so many real life battles where the entire army isn't present at the start, but they keep arriving through our it. So imagine your army is split it two, well if it's one hex away maybe you can roll a 3+ to have it join you starting turn 2 or 3 or something, if it's 2 hexes away you have to roll a 5+ to have it join you, if it's 3 hexes away it's too far to make it in time

Idk I haven't fleshed it out yet. All the other hex map campaigns I've looked into are way too autistic and complex and simulationist, or too simple you might as well not use them
>>
>>98086806
one game that does hidden sequence orders really well is warroom.

the game is like axis and allies, except you only have 9 moves in a turn, and they are all written secretly and revealed at the same time. In that games moves are done in order of priority (which is bid on in a secret ballot using resources at the start of turn (using dice to resolve ties)) and in that case if an army moves into a square with an army then the army that was defending has its move cancelled since it has to fight (in reality the game has a pinning mechanic so that small armies can't just pin much larger armies so that small skirmishing forces can only reduce how many forces a larger army can then move but that's not really as important in this case.

So in that sense I'd experiment with a rotating turn order that's fair, or you could randomize it, or If the campaign has resources (like many map campaigns do) then some of those resources could be ones that boost turn order or be spent on turn order, this is especially good if it becomes a choice of maybe having a free and extra 25pt banner in the next battle or ensuring that you have the initiative and are the attacker in the next battle.

I played a big map campaign once and it was cool since each tile had a buff or bonus in some way, some were campaign buffs that helped with mobility (can move twice, but taking a neutral or enemy territory always stops movement) or battle buffs (can spend extra 10% on special, etc.), or even magic items (access to free items, or access to powerful items that still have point cost but would otherwise not be available to that army, or one my favorite ideas was having a cheap generic magic item that is found by a unit champion so as long as you're using that unit that champion gets that magic weapon.) you know things to add flavor to armies that aren't game breaking but can be thematic and allow for different builds or heroic stories.

it is its own complex board game,

here's a picture of the last game i played. While its a campaign map game, and its focus is mainly strategic and not tactical, the battles still require you to choose your forces stances which can change depending on the organization of the enemy force so they are interesting in their own right.

but how this game handles movement is
1. People can bid oil in secret
2. bids are revealed all together, and order of movement determined
3. Oil is an important resource for building power units like tanks and battleships and carriers so the trade off of gaining initiative vs building bigger armies
4. Armies are also moved in order, but since a player can only move 9 armies in a turn and as you can see there's lots of navies, armies and air force units, you write you 9 orders in secret on a paper (so in this picture fleet 2 off the coast of Los angeles could move from p-4 to p-5 as one of the moves)
5. since armies are moved in order the people who spent resources on initiative have an advantage since they can choose to be more aggressive and if against a neighboring army, can force the battle to happen in the enemy territory, allowing them to take territory faster and on their terms, however the trade off for going last is that you get more resources for a more powerful army. and you can see how moves play out and then you can choose to cancel bad orders or not.

this turns an unfair advantage into a game mechanic that gives players interesting choices in the campaign map.

Now the difference that I would say from a game design, is that this game is a campaign map mainly game, and the battles are secondary, so when making rules for a warhammer campaign you should actually do the opposite, make simple and small campaign maps with simple rules, because its the battles that will be complicated and be the focus. So for me I'd make the map small, 4-5 territories per person at most.

I do a escalating narrative campaign with some buddies. For a lot of the macro level stuff, like the map movements you're talking about, we use a GM, but we also do something similar to what this anon >>98086857 is talking about.
The only things shown to all players are world events, large events (like battles), or declared actions. Declared actions are sort of what that other anon was talking about. Certain actions are written down by players and those actions get revealed at the same time. Not all actions players take have to be declared, but every player has to do a certain number of declared actions every turn.
As an example of what I'm talking about, I'm running beastmen, so a declared action I might make would be raiding a village, desecrating a shrine, or doing a larger character action - like a ritual from my greater bray-shaman. Conversely, one of my buddies, who is playing a Border Prince/Empire deal, might place an order for mortars from Nuln, a begin a general march, or a start a levy/muster in a town as a declared action. The idea is to leave a breadcrumb trail for people to follow which can be used to figure out what other players are doing.
That being said, depending on what faction people are playing, there's different ways to see the actions people don't declare. As an example, scouts or spies can be used to learn about otherwise hidden army movements or locations. This is sort of where having a GM comes in handy, since they can facilitate who gets to see what at all times.
>>

I had considered giving them a mark, probably either Tzeentch or Khorne, and painting them appropriately, but I will most likely just paint them in the colours of Chaos Undivided and treat them as the capstone to my big Undivided project. Once they're done, I'll have two regiments of 20 Undivided chaos warriors, one with hand weapons and shields and the other with halberds (metal and plastic ones!) with a couple extra models just in case, five forsaken made using the mutation sprue, five knights, and a chariot, all in black, gold, and silver and from 1997-1998, and I think that'd be a good stopping point. Then and only then can I get back to making marked regiments or some daemons, not that the latter can even be used alongside my warriors in TOW right now.

What happened to the distinctive forgeworld style models used to have? Back in the day before they shut FW as a seperate thing down they all had a very distinctive Blanchean style that was really fucking cool and grimdark, now all their shit looks the exact same as any other NuGW shite. I know the stores have been combined but specialist games still survives as its own independent team, right? Was there a big designer who left?

Where should I start with WHFRP? Is Old World basically just a new edition?
>>
>>98088236
Old World is a new RPG with different rules set in the same period as the Old World tabletop wargame (a few hundred years before the standard Warhammer setting).
If you want to play WFRP specifically, I'd go either 2nd or 4th edition, or wait for the 5th which is supposedly coming soonish. 2nd and 4th are both good in their own ways and it's easy to convert material between them (there are free conversion tables online too). 5th is supposedly going to be a cleaned up and streamlined 4th.
>>
>>98088236
>Where should I start with WHFRP?
Just go 4e (or wait for 5e to come out if you're patient), while I'm about to say the various benefits and drawbacks of each edition, 4e can do all of the things previous editions can but better it just requires you to actually GM. E.g. if you want a more mudcore experience just tell your players to not pick the high fantasy careers. That said here goes.

If you're getting into WFRP because you enjoy the Warhammer setting from the tabletop/games like Total War or Vermintide, then 4e. It gives you the ability to play things like Ogres, Skinks, cool Elf careers that you'll see on the tabletop like Swordmasters, etc. and is just generally a much better "This is roleplaying the Warhammer Fantasy universe," vibe than previous editions.

1st edition is the best if you want the gritty mudcore shit that WFRP is known for, it's basically a fantasy version of Call of Cthluhu in that you're in a vaguely historic world. 2e is similar to 1st but it's set after the Storm of Chaos event so everyone knows about chaos and there's more magical shit about, making it less of a pseudo-historical world.

3rd edition is based on the FF Star Wars system but they also tried to merge it with WFRP and so it's weird. Also it was designed to be played out of the box that had all the special dice and tokens and shit so, while it can technically be played now through various downloads and crafts, it requires a lot of work which I wouldn't reccomend to a first time GM.

>Is Old World basically just a new edition?

No. It's advertised as a "simplified WFRP" but it's not. It's only simplified WFRP in that it's a more simple game to play that is also set in the Warhammer World, every other mechanic in the game works completely differently, and it's more like a simplified lower fantasy AoS: Soulbound. They also say "It's compatible with WFRP 4e" but this is also complete bullshit and if you try to use their conversions you'll be left with a broken mess.

>What happened to the distinctive forgeworld style models used to have?
it was from handscupting, now models are digitally sculpted, but you still see it in models that are handsculpted, for example the engineer that was included with the war wagon, who was only handsculpted because the artist did it on his own and then later pitched it to the team
>>
>>98088265
>it's basically a fantasy version of Call of Cthluhu in that you're in a vaguely historic world.
Does this mean the focus is less on combat and more on mystery solving, or that the PCs are underpowered and the system is very lethal?
>>
>>98088284
Both
>>
>>98088280
Yeah but a ton of the old Forgeworld stuff was also digitally sculpted right? Like the Tamurkhan stuff and Fimir, they were digitally sculpted but they still had a very Blanchean look to them.
>>
>>98088294
I dunno about every single model but 90% of Forgeworld's stuff was handsculpted back in the day. Again don't know about everything but I looked it up and yeah they were all hand sculpted. I imagine that 'Forgeworld Style' is them still using handsculpting unlike now, but also having people with actual skill so you don't get the abominations you did in the 80s and 90s
>>
>>98088284
WFRP in general is more of an investigation game than a combat game regardless of edition. There is combat of course, and it is quite brutal. The deadliness has slightly been toned down in 4th edition but it's still very easy for PCs to get in over their head and end up killed or badly maimed.
>>
>>98088294
>they were digitally sculpted
I don't think so, fw was still showing greens at the time
>>
>>98088309
I'd say it's more than slightly toned down in 4th with all the powerful careers, advantage, and fate/fortune/resilience/resolve points.
>>
>>98088329
Yeah I looked it up and you're right, I guess it's what >>98088302 said in that they look really good because they're sculpted by hand by people who actually know how to sculpt by hand.
>>
>>98088335
Well, 4th edition is very modular so it sort of depends on how you play it exactly.
>powerful careers
If you're randomly rolling and only advancing as suggested, you might never even see them.
>advantage
Can actually make the game deadlier if your GM isn't letting you get the drop on every bad guy.
>fate/etc
Yeah, though that system has been around in previous editions too.

TOWRPG is kinda od since it's a different game mechanically from WFRP, but not thematically since you basically end up doing the same thing in both games
>>
>All the pissing and shitting about games being posted without a proper table
Yall can kiss my ass- sometimes people just want to play a game with frens, and sometimes frens don't have a proper setup.

Absolute kino model btw, it actually takes the piss they didn't sell this seperately, I'd have bought one (for the right price obviously)

it was also apparently one of the more successful MTOs they did

No, there's a reason that Trish Carden and a bunch of the other old school sculpters were working at FW towards the end of their careers
>>
>>98088551
Oh fuck I forgot about that model, Christ why can't they just release all the old and unreleased Forgeworld shit in Old World. Give either Beastmen or Warriors Fimir in Special with some rule like 1 Fimir Warriors Battleline if the General is a Balefiend or some shit.
>>
>>98088704
They should combine Warriors, Demons and Beasts again like back in 6th anyways.

>Got any hobby related plans for the end of the weeks Anons?

Got my spoils from last weekend based over the week, also the Knights I got for cheap from ebay arrived.
Was planning on painting at least the Warriors over the long weekend, but I unexpectedly found someone to play some Dropzone with in my neck of the woods. So I might paint a bit of that instead, we'll have to see.

I gave it two images from Total War of than both standing up and told it the following( Okay these two man the first one is a Warhammer fantasy ogre shaking hands with the second one who is a dragon in his human form it's complicated but the two seconds hands in a ogre camp the first one noticeably higher in high than the second one reach into Bellybutton height.) do you think it did a good job ?
