>Whats the largest game of 40k you have ever played?I've played a few ones with 2k points each but 4 players, either 2vs2 or a free for all, plus some 3k 1vs1s, nothing too crazy
>>98092818fuck off, secondary
>>98092790Honestly, white n red would make for a good admech scheme. I've git a pack of skittles I nabbed for cheap a while back that I've yet to do anything with, maybe I should make em mikoskittles and try my hand at painting white
>>98092837>Try my hand painting white.Prepare to suffer. Seriously.
>>98092837>white n redI mean, that's pretty much metalica

>>9809279040k ? 2000pts30k ? 6000pts
Has anyone played a match with the vehicle damage tables? Doesn't it make them way too strong, they last the entire match especially with subsequent attacks against them being cancelled once you roll on the chart. Am I missing anything? Feels wrong
>>98092847Yeah, I knew one of the subfactions already did white with red accents in a "FF white mage" look, but I would ideally be bisecting the red/white horizontally while making the bisection look natural
>>98092869I've heard enough. Nerf the rogal dorn 20 more points
>>98092869Last the whole game with what? Immoblized and out of the fight? With your main gun knocked out? Stunned?

Hurons done. The rest need a red highlight, decals, freehands on the screens etc etc.
>>98092952
I like orks :D
>>98092941Same :)
Orks.

What's the point of bolt pistols if good 'ol carbine can be used one handed?
>>98092956where’s the gator?
>>98092790Been playing since 7th, never played more than a thousand points.750 is where its at. Fuck an 45 min long movement phase

painted a backpack for my johnnyhe's complete now (:
How many Detachments are we expecting 11th edition codexes to come with?10?15?20?
>>98092982Yet to paint it. Im doing a xenos squad of the goat shaman, votann, tarellian, ork kommando boss, and eldar corsair.
>>98092837>try my hand at painting whiteIf you mean pure white paint then just forget about it, not worth the money and effort.
>>98092837The trick with white is that it’s a blank slate, talking like irl, when it comes to specular reflections. You have a red cloak with highlights and shadows on it, its red color isn’t being modulated by the environment much, so it’s not hard to be consistent. With white though the ground, the horizon, anything the light bounces off of is going to cause slight changes in the colors of the highlights and shadows, it’s almost like you’re painting dull chrome. The reason most white looks like crap is people can’t maintain consistent environmental coloring in the shadows and midtones, and often you don’t even want pure titanium white as the highlight because you rarely see that from a light source outside of high noon clear sky daylight on Earth.Even something like a slight cream is 10x easier than white.
>>98092990Le le le LELE XDXD XD Please paint my wazdakka for me, i really couldn't be fucked
>>98093000You realize space marines already have 20 Codex Detachments right now, don't you? Not even counting supplements. So probably at least that many.
>>98092989at this point we've had more edition without true grit than with it

>>98093059I wish they would stop with the fucking marines. Im probably gonna buy one of the mechs just out of spite.
>>98093059No thoughts.

>>98093058Nice reference, I quite like the art in Endless Legend.
>>98092952I like the scratched fist on his leg, looks good.
Gonna do a 2000pts game. Black Templars infantry spam vs pure deathwing.

>>98093059Even if I cared about these kinds of things, they haven't made any for any factions I actually care about yet
>>98093075Which two did you get?
Lore accurate NL armor btw. You may not like it, but this is how your favorite sadistic nostradamus of first claw looked like.
>>98093085what, are the night lords too broke to afford blue paint?
>>98093092They get their assess beaten blue so they dont need it.
>>98093085>two hours into burning crusade
>>98093059They cost roughly around the same as the actual mini, but painted and articulated.I don't care for them but they expose GW pricing.
>>98093100don the short cloak once more old friend
>>98093085Crayon eaters chapter
>>98093085Unfortunately anon you have implied that Night Lords have managed to kill enough marines to make a clone suit which is more inaccurate than the clown suit itself.
>>98093108don't need to, just use the others to finish the group project, then come in and reap the rewards, think smarter, not harder
>>98093081a custode shield captain and terminatori thought they'd be neat to have sit on my painting desk and mess around with while i wait for paint to dry but they mostly just sit on a shelf because they take up a lot of space
>>98093076Which faction you waiting for, little faggot? HRUD?
As per popular demand, I shall stop posting sloppa detachments. But can James please make detachments which are thematic and fun?
>>98093119When scaled up so much the metal armor texture takes on a bit too much of that plastic quality imo. Almost similar to this pic>>98092818 but far less worse ofc. Still.
>>98093123You ask questions you already know the answer to
>>98093108>>98093112Only case of a canon clone suit from scavenged armour btw
>>98093129that's cool, but I distinctly remember Talos talking about his scavenged clown suit
>>98093123no enjoy bonus to detection range copy pastes that invalidate the core mechanic of the edition before it even fucking releases
>>98093137I thought he had his normal NL imperial armour, with the damaged aquila he kept when he turned traitor. and then had a BA captians power sword. He also had some relic NL bolter ABD was pretty tame with his OC super special shit with him than he would be Khayon the yugioh, founder of BL, twin sister is special to pilot the BL captial ship, slave loyal friend demon (whose a wise woman) and Deldar GF, and being some super assassin who made Primarchs kneel.God I fucking hate Khayon
>>98093129I don't like terminator armor. I hate how it takes up so much of the setting and how it just becomes the default veteran armor. Those stupid looking named characters looking out of their porthole without their helmets. Just get it out of here.
>>98093139I think only like 5 of 70 new Detachments so far have had the detection bonus thing. It is funny they highlighted a bunch in a row but it's not actually all that prevalent.
>>98093142What do you think would be a cooler default veteran armor? Artificer armor? Those are all bespoke sets though and not mass produced in any form.
>>98093142I'm sorry for your GayAIDs related loss anon
what do the resident marine bros think of the eradicators with heavy bolters?
>>98093142>>98093159>be peerless sword master guy of a 100 battles with perfected footwork>get promotion>relegated to walking slowly side by side with other geriatrics of the chapter>one of them smiles at you out of his school play tomato costume from the head-sized hole>you're one of them now>can't touch your hand with the other hand>still get storm bolter placed on wrist >told it's so I can get up using both my hands to if I fall which they say will happen more when you get up in the veteran years>feet hurt>"just fence 1h brother"
With what we know about 11ED, will it be still possible to run an army of Leman Russ variants only?
>>98093162A goes pretty hard.
>>98093164See, this is why Emperor's Children and World Eaters don't have Terminator units
>>98093164skill and taste issue also more seriously they're rarely the default with piles of veteran and commander characters not using them so you're essentially making a mountain out of a molehill
>>98093172
>>98093123Short answer: Fuck you, deal with rules and buy more modelsKindly, James Workshop.
>>98093176
>>98093085i have this theory about night lords being just a huge fucking joke of a chapter in both HH and 40k
>>98093188elaborate
>>98093164ENTER KRISTOS
>>98093176why this looks ten times cooler than actual crons?
>>98093148Yeah I like that. I want tac dread to just be a situational slow thing that function as moving cover for other marines and where armor is necessary, not this venerated mega upgrade that it's described to be. Every time a story comes up where the marines heading into some hive world and they have it as some go to for swarm enemies or exploring unknown environments I just die a little inside. >>98093174you prob right, I can't pretend to know exactly how the ranks work, but I was under the impression that you advance linearly to first company and once you get there you get one and can't really refuse it as it's seen as a pure upgrade
>>98093195It doesn't. it's veering into korean mmo aesthetics. All you've done is reveal that you're a weeb. Check out Shadowsun and eldar jain zar for flowing hair if that's your thing.
>>9809300030 for space marines, 8 or 9 at the most for each other faction. It was bonkers how little GW gave a shit about some of the factions while writing codex detachments in 10th. Adepta Sororitas had one overpowered detachment and three dogshit ones, then they nerfed the overpowered detachment to be just as dogshit.
>>98093190The Emperor built them to fight wrong on purpose as a joke
>>98093173They teased Red Butchers with the new WE terminator detachment
>>98093004>squad of the goat shaman, votann, tarellian, ork kommando boss, and eldar corsair.kino especially the inclusion of an ork merc. I love the gator, and I’m having a guy 3D print one out for me, so I’ll likely have her be a military advisor to my ork boyz. >>98093123I honestly appreciate you for respecting the requests of other anons here. very considerate.
>>98093024>paint my wazdakka? HELL NAH
>>98093231lol lmao
I have a few old Drop Pods that are unfortunately glued shut. Since only the hull matters for LoS shenanigans, they should be fine and I don't need any kind of extra footprint for them?
>>98093240"We don't quite call them Red Butchers... yet"It's essentially confirmed.
>>98093162it shows that necrons haven't managed to build their own unique aesthetics yet, it all looks like a vague reskin of silhouettes you'd create for imperials or eldar
>>98093217Yeah, 10th had a couple of actually good Codexes and then lots of mediocre or flat out awful ones. Detachments wasn't a bad concept but the execution is just so lazy and bare bones minimum effort trash.
>>98093173Based. I wish I never read any HH slop so Angron would remain some mythical figure in my mind instead of a whiny crybaby who does nothing for his legion. WE would be top tier in my eyes if that were the case.
>>98093246This chart seems garbage
>>98093247I will always prioritize my headcannon over what GW writers can do. ALWAYS.
What is this bullshit I'm hearing about bringing wargear costs back?Is it real or some retarded "leak"
>>98093263Not real. They're just continuing to split some units into different data sheets. i.e. "eradicators with heavy bolters" vs "eradicators with meltas".
>>98093268Then why I'm hearing the guard assholes talking about taking the guns out of their tanks and troops?
>>98093246Only problem is that 11th looks like it's going to be this but worse.
>>98093246>>98093284Can really be worse? Will they not evwn make at least a minor improvement?
>>98093246I lost counts of how many rules changes GSC had. 3 or 4 I think I lost count after endless swarm became finite swarm.
>>98093290I mean, the deldar preview the other day was pretty much their 10th detachments all chopped up; they didn't even update the flavor text.
>>98093284you mean you aren't excitied to memorize the mechanics of another 70 ai generated detachments?
>>98093256It's not a power level chart, it's a "how much thought and effort did GW put into the codex detachments?" chart. T'au have been strong this edition but only having 4 detachments in their codex was weakass.
Dark Eldar refresh is coming. I can feel it.
>>98093298A lot of them will be like Librarius and not even include stratagems, it won't be as bad as some are making it out to be.How many times have you encountered DEldar at your tables? Most of the sweats couldn't even buy the army for a year since everything was sold out both at Warhammer and my country.I expect it to be the same, just look at the New defiler, most can't even afford done right now.
>>98093169I can’t see GW being dumb enough to remove leman russ tank variants. But this is gw.Leman russ punisher is my favorite tank variant based on looks alone. It is the right kind of silly sci-fi in my book.Any other models that have silly sci-fi “vibe” as the kids say?I’m not sure if I should keep the minigun or commission an stl sculptor to make a “multilaser mini” variant of it.
>>98093298I'm about as excited for that as I am to see the same lazy, poorly designed rules for my own army, sure made 10th playable and a lot of fun.
>>98093161>what do the resident marine bros thinkmarinefags don't think
>>98093263They did a Q&A where they said some weapons would increase a squad's points rather than attempting to balace weapon options and winding up with a shitty short range lascannon. People heard this and immediately started planning to run their boring ass no-squad-weapon squads again.
>>98093322You are giving us to little credit, sometimes we think about buying 3 or 6 for our other marine armies.
>>98093161not a marine bro but they're fine
>>98093325What's wrong with guard? It's always these guys that immediately minmax the fun out of everything.
>>98093326Thanks for your service, marinebro.
>>98093295It's too funny man. It's like verbatim just a chopped up version of their three new codex Detachments. And DEldar didn't even get any extra dataslate or campaign book Detachments all edition besides grotmas. Which means they've only written 3 Detachments for DEldar in 3 years.
>>98093274Probably wilful misinterpretation of a Q&A response.>Will we see a return to granular points?>A: Yes, a bit, not to the extent of points for bolt pistols. Big pieces of wargear will have costs, example is Riptide's weapons options will have different costs. Battleline boys probably won't. Other units will be split into multiple data sheets with different costs the same way leman russes are already split up into different data sheets with different costs based on their turret. Basically nothing is going to change for IG because they're already set up like that.
>>98093325Do you have a problem with people who like Bolters or something? Or that enjoy a whole squad all having one weapon type without a bunch of oddball profiles to roll through every turn?
>>98093339It's even funnier that most detachments seem to amount to>Give unit you like [Some Rule]>Give unit you like +1 to something>If bad guy has X, you get +1 or somethingVery exciting wargame.
>>98093325>People heard this and immediately started planning to run their boring ass no-squad-weapon squads again.Game is probably too lethal for people to run special weapons, I remember dropping many of them from my ad mech because they just got erased from the table regardless.
>>98093315>not even include stratagemsI read it a lot here, but the article from WaCom that shows the detachment doesn't say anything about not having stratagems. Source?
>>98093347the only way GW knows how to shrimplify things is by sandpapering off all flavor
>>98093344Not that guy but since I run a lot of intercessors, heavy intercessors and sternguard I'm literally a bolter guy.I'm precisely worried about this shit because I prefer the auto bolter over the more optimal viants like the stalker or the regular one with doctrines.I dread this nonsense returning, or having to optimize builds for damage.Just because you can run a squad naked doesn't mean other squads aren't affected by becoming buil locked into it's optimal cost damage ratio. It's cancer for minimal boring units and maximum damage units with hero hammer shenanigans.
>>98093354Librarius is used as the example, because it lost it's stratagems and it had fun ones like giving hazardous to your opponent, wounds, battle shock or reducing movement.
>>98093359But... If both options cost the same because wargear is free, then you already are locked into the optimal damage to cost ratio. I don't know what you think you are describing as a problem here.
I miss GSC shotguns
>>98093361Ok, but GW didn't say it won't have stratagems, they simply didn't say anything about that detachment stratagems. It could have new ones.
>>98093362When all the options cost the same there isn't an incentive other than playstyles or how you run the unit. Most people just slap plasma and power fists but I found it way more reliable to delete scoring units with chains words or powers words because of my own playstyle. I'm going for the least powerful option not because of its cost but it's purpose, same with my rep executioner or onslaught Gatling cannon's being more useful that people give them credit for in a game about screenings and movement.People just became obsessed with killing tanks and catan in a game where you can just mob them and outscore them.Free wargear is a boon without the immediate need to create dedicated naked units to screen and even more costful hammers to centralize balance around.
>>98093368https://youtu.be/bV_5PhpI8Pk?si=GL8YY7AXG5apWslAAt 6:10 they talk about Librarius Conclave in the video saying it doesn't have strategems. There's more info in several of the videos than just what the articles contain.
>>98093372>leavesNar? He leads the vanguard of the invasion.
>>98093374Okay, you are talking about units that have multiple options that serve different purposes. But there are lots of units where the special and heavy weapon options are strictly better than their basic guns in every aspect. You said yourself in that there is no incentive other than playstyle right now, but for lots of factions other weapons don't offer another playstyle at all.
>>98093372"After pledging themselves to the Black Legion, the Gloomtalons would act at the vanguard of any raids, attacking first and weakening their foes and instilling fear before the Warmaster's main force arrived."
>>98093374>People just became obsessed with killing tanks and catan in a game where you can just mob them and outscore them.To me it seems like this is the case because largely they're the best. Didn't they have to restrict the number of c'tan taken in games because people were just running trains on their opponents?
>>98093394>>98093404My bad I messed up on the leaves part.Sorry lads thanks for correcting.
>>98093391so why wouldn't i just stick with the ones with actual strategemsor are they also neutuering the good detachments we already have
>>98093391Thanks anon

i dont even want to paint, id rather just shitpost in this thread instead
>>98093452>Custodes, Deatwatch and Grey KnightTo Imperial Agents>Knights To Admech>Chaos KnightDark Mech
>>98093399Want a better example?I prefer fleshborers over spine fists on termagants for positioning and scoring reasons, I'm one of the few people around that chooses this weapon over the more optional pistol with rerolls and I still win games merely because I'm good with positioning and basics to a point assault is a ridiculously great boon to have and I feel my unit is nerfed if I try the commonly accepted "better" choice. You can also delve into math hammer with power swords vs power fists on Captain's and lieutenants when engaging with ctan as >>98093399 has cited, it's a matter of number of attacks vs number of wounds Ina model and modifiers you can get, the only time I can clearly see the power fist as a better choice is the captain once per game boost to attacks or blood angels charge bonus. For the rest there's a toss up, there's equally funky math when looking at Tyranid anti tank when you deal nothing or one shoot a ctan. And I gotta say it's not because they are the best, it's just that most casual remember being stomped hard then overcompensate for tanks to a point their armies look like a fine assortment of hammers to break tanks but have to rely on two gay scouts and Mr combi lieutenant to score and if those 2 die they lose badly.
>>98093241That's the way I interpret the rules.
>>98093451Primaris are cool, anon, marine improvement.
Lmao fuck primarchs. Left is my casualty pile and right is my opponent's.Lionel killed a sword vrethren squad, an assault termi with shields and a termi captain, and 10 crusaders and the chaplain. Each with just one round of attack without me swinging back.Couldnt do jack shit all game since if my men didnt get blasted off by the land raider, plasma dearhwing, or plas dred, they got one shotted by a teleporting Lionel.
>>98093176An Overlord with a greatsword seems like an easy win for GW, surprised they haven't done it already.
>>98093462Is this sarcasm?Like anons saying the grey knights baby carrier dread is cool?>>98093463Are primarchs genuinely overpowered for maximum sales?
>>98093463And this is why flights first gets the boot next edition.I must say I'm going to miss humiliating both the bladeguards with sang priest and judiciar, it was very funny to see people that thought they were unlikable see it explode to focus fire.
>>98093471>Are primarchs genuinely overpowered for maximum sales?Balance may as well be random. Lion was unplayably bad most of the edition and has spent more time in 10e tournaments proxied as Guilliman than run as himself, even if he's been perhaps over-buffed in compensation more recently.
>>98093471>>98093472I usually do the same with Fights First, but I cant shoot Lionel because he has Lone Op when near a friendly. The dude is hard enough to target, hard enough to avoid since he teleports, hard enough to tarpit since his sweep can one shot most units, AND he provides buffs to nearby units.Serves me right to not use a named chatacter, I guess.
>>98093422Realistically it should be this>Make a Lost and the Damned codex with all the non Marine Chaos stuff (Cultists, Traitor Guard, Dark Mech, maybe Daemons)>Knights in AdMech, Chaos Knights in Lost & The Damned>You can take one big knight OR two armigers/wardogs for every 1k points in non-AdMech/Lost & the Damned lists
>>98093480>>98093487How overpowered are named characters?Like votann when first released that some big tournaments banned them?Or iron hands back in I think 8th?
>>98093456Judging by the usual quality of this general this is probably a common sentiment
>>98093456I felt that. How do I get back into painting and finding it fun again?
>>98093492Fuck no. Leave Dark Mech separated from cultists and mongrels. Superior technology enjoyers and daemon engines apart from stinky cadians with spiky bits.
>>98093176>you are a necron phraoh >your c'tan shard is a Tomboy>you want that but don;t have a dick>despite the torture she knows it>every move feels like she taunts youI would want to eradicte everything too

>>980927904th edition apocalypse I guess it was 4th, I forgetit wask 20k points a side, and I wiped out the side I was fighting with my black legion
>>98093487And that's why hero hammer sucks balls. The problem is the stupid rule that protects it from being treated like a regular melee beat stick.I would love for this game to be balance around basic units instead of epic characters.
>>98093532But "Muh Primarch" hero anon! Think about narrative!
>people that have several named characters in their army listquite cringe desu
>>98093532I wouldn't be surprised if they squat unnamed characters at this point
>>98093539I'm thinking about sisters and admech that can function without epic characters, lord solar and the horse he rode it on or Uriel Ventris and Calgar raising a bunch of marine units costs by at least 20 points each edition in some cases. But yes, we gotta sell primarchs!
>>98093549half a problem if they are their own characters. Worse if it's >>98093552 then it's Cringe merry go round. Hey at least you can prove GW writing is shit because the mighty primarch can be taken by a Tank.
>>98093549Tournament tactics eventually drip into casual play.Even fluffy lists that claim to not have canon characters now have instead a proxy of a named character.

>>98093260I wish I could compartmentalize like this in my mind. I can only retain it for some things. >>980936002 player out of the 12 were trans so yes.
>>98093503It varies a lot. The problem at the moment isn't that named characters are specifically overpowered, but that there's basically no customisation, so a lot of rules that you'd like to have to your army are often locked to a named character datasheet. In Votann's case, it wasn't named characters that were the problem at all and I'm not sure they use them much to this day - when Tyranids and Votann got their pity characters this edition, both were basically useless.>>98093554>I'm thinking about sisters and admech that can function without epic characters,I assume that was meant to be "can't", because Vahl: the Army and Cawl: the Army are currently two of the most named-character centric armies in the game.

>>98093896They get mindfucked during their training and live off in the wastelands secluded in a monastery who drill into them how superior they are to regular mortals and get indoctrinated into their own ideology. At the end of the process they're not really human, they don't have the same urges or intensity of certain emotions, they can live on for thousands of years and they have have other senses heightened. They don't spend a lot of time with them, mostly just alone with their brothers and being dropped down into hell to fight insane things in lightning strikes and then promptly leave again to live a monastic lifestyle with their fellow monks again. And if they do spend time with humans they find that humans aren't very relatable to them anymore.Honestly I don't get how the salamanders meeting their families make sense unless it's literally like the ghost of a person you once know who show up as some demigod to exchange some words with you for ritual's sake but little else. If it's depicted in their lore as heckin chungus wholesome family time then I don't get it.

>The Thunderhawk roared down thunderously into the midst of the battlefield on it's powerful hellfury engines, firing stormrage missiles into the midst of the foe. It's armoured front ramp crashed to the ground and power-armoured space marines stormed forth, their boltguns spitting death. There were many foes, Brother Skullstorm Deathrage noted, his twin hearts thundering vengefully. "We are the Emperor's Vengeance!" the commander cried, and it was taken up with wrathful passion by the power armoured warriors. Primaris Aggressors raised their twin boltstorm gauntlets and their stormbolters spat double death into the foe. As they charged forward like a storm of vengeance they struck their foe like lightning, tearing them asunder with chainswords revving with wrath. Brother Skullstorm stomped upon a foe's head crushing it under his powerboot, bringing swift, one could almost say lightning-fast, death. He was reminded of his issues with his father, because he is written by Aaron Dembski-Bowden.>"This is truly wrathful deathbringing we are delivering to the foe!" Cried out his brother-marine, Homosexus, written by Mike Brooks. "I could not have imagined we would commit this much furious helldeath on the enemies of the Emperor before I transitioned!" Xe continued, casually referring to the Imperium being accepting of sexual deviancy. "Now we can deliver so much helldeath furiously to the foe with our Primaris Bolt Rifles spitting death!"This is every black library book about marines and I am only exaggerating by like 20%.

I'm new to the hobby and wondering what the etiquette is on bringing unpainted minis to play. I have about 750 points ready, all primed and want to start playing at my local LGS. Would they all beat me up and laugh at me since they are all white?
>>98093995No need to dream. Total war, x-com and CSM shooter is all we ever need from 40k vidya. The first two are in the bag, and SM2 devs are holding off on doing chaos skins for multiplayer missions because they clearly have planned to either do them as dlc or for SM3.
>>98094066It entirely depends on your scene. If you see most people playing with fully painted armies then yeah people might not be as enthusiastic to play with you.If you see more people playing with half-painted or gray-tide then you should be fine.
>>98093847Remember when you could get 20 cadians for like $35-$40? That was great.
>>98094083Yeah but the new ones are way better. Just buy 3d prints if you dont want to buy GW's.
>>98094040Other than just fucking everything in the production chain getting more expensive, they've massively shifted their model design ethos; from primarily functional game pieces, prioritising getting models on the gaming table, to increasingly complicated figurines with more parts, more fine details, and an overall larger size. The way GW design and produce their kits today wouldn't fit the old style 'cheap & cheerful' boxes like AoBR and Dark Vengeance. Even the closest equivalent, the current Starter Set, is priced at £70/$114, and that's with a smaller overall model count (38, Vs AoBR's 46) and not even including the proper 10th Ed rule book ffs
>>98093847what went so wrong since then?
>>98094065One thing I think Eldad is good for for new players is the CP generation lets you "play" a bit more. You dont have to be as efficient with such a limited resource which lets you do the fun things more often. In higher 2k games hes something you usually keep hidden until the very end of the game because you never want to lose him early so he can generate those sweet points for you. With that list your preliminary strategy before you get more experience should be using the Wraithlord as a bait to pull out your opponents pieces (think of it like a pawn in chess). Its your most durable for the points unit, and your opponent will have to dedicate something serious to actually kill it so send it right to an objective and start contesting it. Whatever he sends out to kill it with is now vulnerable to your hyper mobile shooting, so you kill in return whatever hurt your Wraithlord and secure the mid field. Your elite glass cannon shooting have some movement shenanigans where they can shoot and hop back in a transport which makes them decent at holding objectives once the board things out. Your guardians + Eldad should be holding home objective and head out once the board is thin to score points. Basically your gameplay should be to use rangers to bait the enemy, kill what kills the rangers, use Wraithlord to bait the enemy, kill what kills the wraithlord, try to hold primary against what lives after the first few rounds and score points.Your weakness will be high OC trash infantry like swarms of nids or masses of guardsmen. These units are pretty good into your very elite shooting because you want to be shooting elite stuff not trash. Your strength will be into elite infantry armies with things like terminators or big orcs and such.
>>98094066I'm relatively new to the hobby also (1 army, working to a 2nd one) and my experience is that some people will be fine with it but tournaments subtract points if your army is not "battle ready".Battle ready - army has primer, layer paint and very basic detailing and doesn't look like a featureless Gray blob, it doesn't have to be amazing. My advice would be paint your minis, it's half the fun of the hobby
>>98093458But anon, spinefists are also assault.

>>98094043Oh hey, are you the OG metallic blue BA guy or someone aping the scheme? Haven't seen you post in a minute.
>>98094066If you make it clear you are a noob thats learning? It shouldnt be a problem. Just work on it as you go. If you are entering a tournament or bigger hobby day you should make an effort to progress your painting %. Eventually with just a small amount of consistent painting you will get there, a few painting sessions a week is fine.
>>98094088Better as models, but not as game pieces.
>>98094088>Yeah but the new ones are way betterDue to economies of scale and CAD modelling it's also easier and cheaper for GW to produce them. The reason they got pricier is greed
>>98094120I disagree on the cadians at least. The base cadians are not really offensive at all as game pieces and have a better details / scale. Just over priced. But to be clear I consider shit like boxlocked loadouts, fixed wargear, and lack of possibility as seperate issues, thats not a game issue its a modeling issue.
>>98094134Overpriced for what's supposed to be a horde army is my main point of contention. I would argue that being way more detailed could contribute to that but all models have been going in that direction anyway.
>>98094154Oh true. From a price point horde armies in general are suffering from the cost inflation the most. Ironically, as much as it hurts to buy something like a 140 USD knight kitit will end up being almost 1/4 of your army.
>>98094162It's also a big factor as to why WHFB died, every army became a horde army and the models were ridiculously expensive. They tried to turn my army, ad mech, into a horde army and it made me fucking miserable.

Finished the Crabnaught this morning.
>>98094415You must get no attention at home
>>98094416Dude it looks fucking incredible, well done.
>>98094365You play Recon Element since it gives your guardsmen more or less always a 3+ save and tons of tricks.stra MilitarumRecon ElementStrike Force (2,000 Points) CHARACTERS Cadian Castellan (55 Points) Cadian Castellan (55 Points) Cadian Castellan (55 Points) Cadian Command Squad (65 Points) Cadian Command Squad (65 Points)Cadian Command Squad (65 Points) Gaunt’s Ghosts (100 Points)Ursula Creed (85 Points)BATTLELINE Cadian Shock Troops (120 Points) 20 man Cadian Shock Troops (120 Points) • 20 man Cadian Shock Troops (120 Points) 20 man Cadian Shock Troops (120 Points) 20 man Catachan Jungle Fighters (65 Points) 10 man Catachan Jungle Fighters (65 Points) 10 manDeath Korps of Krieg (65 Points)10 manDeath Korps of Krieg (65 Points)10 manDeath Korps of Krieg (65 Points)10 manDeath Korps of Krieg (65 Points)10 manDeath Korps of Krieg (145 Points) 20 manDeath Korps of Krieg (145 Points)(20 Man) OTHER DATASHEETSAttilan Rough Riders (120 Points) 10 man Attilan Rough Riders (120 Points)10 manScout Sentinels (55 Points) the is one of the strongest lists to ever see play. The literal only weakness of this list is that you have to be a god to play it and not run out of time.
>>98094372I can't tell if this is a meme or an actual autist.
>>98094430That's a list that makes me wish blast templates were back. It would be impossible to miss.
>>98094430Thanks anon! >20man guard squads Oh lawd I need to stop gathering info and just start printing.
>>98094416beautiful kitbash, out of curiosity because you’ve been painting sallies for a while, do you have any other armies outside of space marines? >>98094434there are plenty of well documented lolcows who’s identities are known and post about their lives everyday who have pretty much 1:1 behavior with him including doing the same shit for years, so its definitely real.
>>98094443>>98094454to put things into perspective, the guardsman generic profile has them as a 5+ saveIf you order them with take cover, it gets cover (-1 ap), take cover (+1 save) and recon element bonus +(+1 save) so you can shoot at these guys with an AP-2 weapon and they'd be at a 4+ save. AP1 or lower and they're at a 3+There are so many guardsman that you physically cannot kill enough of them to win. Are you a melee army? They've got two strats, one for a flat 6 reactive and one for -2 to the charge. Your 2 inch charge becomes a 10 inch charge.
>>98094394I'm gonna file out the bumps and leave one or 2 deep hole for battle damage.
>>98094474I plan it to be a ranged army meme.Movement trays seem necessary now. What kind of inconvenience would I encounter using them if any?
>>98094490Literally running out of time
>>98094483Good luck!I wish you all the best in this!>>98094505But movement trays keep squads separate and save time moving the models.Am I missing something here?
>>98094514you've got 5 reactive strats and it takes forever to shoot
I'm going to finally finish building the last of my victrix honor guard today chat
>>98094516Fair enough.Thank you though.
