Female marines when?
>+3" detection range>+3" detection range>+3" detection rangeI just don't understand how GW knows they will do a new edition in 3 years, we know they will doa new edition in 3 years, and we still end up with all-or-nothing mechanics like this which are 1) crazy boring and duplicated in every faction's design space 2) will either be useless or completely necessary. Why are they so fucking lazy with the rules side of things?

>>98115555I'm constantly surprise about how boring this editions are.The focus in this esport mentality has removed all the fun about 40k.

>>98115519>>98115524The goal of every WAACfag is to reproduce Magic the Gathering from first principles.
>>98115563Why does it feel like reading the info cards in a video game?
>>98115563Why do people dislike this? This is perfect. It's really clear. I know exactly what can or cannot be done with no ambiguity.

>>98115533>tqNot bad.People aren’t assholes. So it kind of puts pressure on me to not be the asshole. But then again I didn’t go to the lgs much.Mostly because I can’t find a good single case to store and transport a whole 2k-3k guard army.
>>98115573I bet AI formatted this. No human being talks or thinks like this.
>>98115533Thinking about starting an Alpha Legion CSM army. Do CSM have stealthy units like loyalist SMs? Loyalists have phobos, reavers, scouts, snipers, etc. but Im unaware of what CSM have
https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/x94potly/warhammer-40000-faction-focus-leagues-of-votann/The sagitaur one is passable, the others are dogshit. Hearthband has been gutted.
>>98115533>TQThe only current one in my city isn't even a year old. Overwhelmingly marines if not Imperium with a side of Chaos, but it's generally friendly. The only model kit stolen by a crackhead so far was an AoS one, and the owner only stocked it because of GW.>>98115573Either they are probably getting rules designers more attuned to video games, are intentionally designing them around people who play them, or like the other anon said, winging it with AI.
>new detachment>+1 buff to your favorite modelthis shit fucking boring cuh
>>98115572I think this is going to backfire heavily on GW. The WAACfag crowd from Magic is not going to want to spend time painting, and all the people they're attracting from videogames and youtube lore shit are D&D theater kids who hate complicated rules.
>>98115625new detachmentsame as the old one+0 buff to your favorite modelfuck you- eldar rules team
>>98115602Any legionnaire and or cultist unit can infiltrate depending on points level.Their other scouting can be in the form of turn1 reserves with beastmen. Deep strike en-masse with daemons/terminators etc among other units that are +reserves because of special rules.>can have a free leader model by turning another dude into a clone of your warlord
>>98115595But anon-San…Ai can be good because /3dpg/ talked and has shown images to 3d models. Now I can get stl recreations of models from official to passable third party remade into stl form.Especially the third party before gw whacks the producer of the passable third party stuff.I’m surprised Kromlech is still going.
>>98115588I use one of this and add some metal sheets that you can slide in a out.Depending on the kind of models and bases sizes I can usually fit 2k of GSC infantry in one or two boxes.Since I can add and remove levels I some times go and play with just the top and few boxes while leaving the rest at home
>>98115602You could reinterpret the Red Corsair Raiders as CSM trying to pass off as more loyalist marks, and Nemesis Claw as CSM trying to run disruption/distraction. The Alpha Legion is supposed to be the cultist one so you could also do that.
>>98115625It's not even a real +1 since LoV get "+1 to hit against models on objectives" as a faction rule, and this doesn't stack to eliminate the cover penalty because GW engineered it so only the Hekaton gets to ignore cover. The Kapricus is already getting a +1 to hit from Heavy if it only moves 3", the Yaegirs don't want to be within 12" because they'll evaporate, this really only benefits Pioneers. And that stratagem is ultra retarded. Why would I spend 1 CP to remove cover from a unit when I can just hit it with a Thunderkyn?
>>98115567>"I'm Roboute Guilliman and I disapprove of this message"

>>98115662Run your IG as Black Templars for extra points.
>>98115668Cute. Now let me see it painted.
>>98115613Preview core rule blurbs actually have readable human format so the flowchart ones are probably app-specific.
>>98115577You are an autist, most people don't enjoy reading something written like it's for a fucking robot.Rules text should be easily parsed in conversational language, written as though your friend is teaching you how to play the game, using examples of fluff to explain what is happening within the context of the universe, not like a dense fucking manual for code monkeys in entirely abstract gamified rules jargon. Every edition this shit gets worse and worse.
>>98115691>>98115577That format is fine for a summery or a cheat sheet. Not for the actual explanations of the rules.4th and 5th are kind of the middle ground, having a proper separation between fluff and rules and some explanation before saying the rule outright
>>98115691>Rules text should be easily parsed in conversational language, written as though your friend is teaching you how to play the gameNo it shouldn't this is what leads to garbage rules and ironically WAACfag interpretations where people try to cheat to gain advantage.
>>98115707>WAACfagThose will happen regardless of the format. The solution is to bully them into suicide, not writing rules for AI chat bots
>>98115707>this is what leads to garbage rulesYou're retarded, the quality of the rule has nothing to do with how it is presented.>and ironically WAACfag interpretationsJust don't ever play with those people. It's that fucking simple. They are a detriment to the game experience no matter what. It doesn't matter how much you try to ruin the experience of reading the rules for everyone else in order to prevent them from being dicks, they will just find another way to be unpleasant to play against. The solution is not to write your rules like an inhuman autist that's never spoken to another human being before, it's to identify who those WAAC people are as quickly as possible and make them completely unwelcome.
>>98115613The Hernkyn one entices me since I wanted to build my army around Yaegirs/Pioneers already. It might not be great, but it fits the fluff I want for my army.
>>98115718>It doesn't matter how much you try to ruin the experience of reading the rules for everyone else in order to prevent them from being dickslmao>your too clear rules are RUINING MY EXPERIENCE
>>98115602Not quite in the same manner; the obligatory AL detachment in Deceptors has you infiltrate up to a certain number of Legionaries and Cultists only (as well as their leaders), so like 60 mortals and 30 MEQ in no man's land in a 2000pt game. That said, Red Corsair Raiders infiltrate as well, possibly diminishing the appeal of that detachment specifically unless you consider the idea of being able to infiltrate 60 MEQ in total. Mind that with cultists on board, that's roughly three-quarters of your points. Soul Link is a pretty cool enhancement too.Cypher also exists as an obligatory Lone Operative, you could convert some other idiot or impersonator in his stead. Apart from that, you still have a fair variety of deep strike units including Obliterators for sudden big guns, which you shouldn't skimp out on.You'd think they'd get something vaguely representing the Seekers/Headhunters of old at some point (the Alpha Legion pioneered the Sternguard predecessors), but maybe they'll do a thematic Kill Team in the future if they don't just do upgrade kits or Operators instead. They're popular enough anyway, one of the more played 30k legions as well since they actually have fluffy rules there.
>>98115613Hearthband will still be the same thing and cost 2 detachment points, all the detachments being featured in these articles are worth 1 point out of your max of 3 at 2000pts
>>98115720Honestly this is a good point, and I'm glad you're getting something out of these, but it is staggering how few of the detachments previewed for any faction stimulate the imagination or make you want to build a unique or themed army in any way. Especially compared to the subfactions and rules of yesteryear which were all about that.
>I want all of the models. Is it anticipation of getting new stuff or is it a problem?

>>98115746That's not how they're supposed to work. You're not supposed to be picking units to suit the rules. You're supposed to be picking units you think are cool and then the rules facilitate them.

>>98115737They aren't clear, that's the issue. They're precise, but extremely dense. Reading the rules is part of the experience of the hobby and the hobby is meant to be fun. Old editions understood this - you're obviously too new to know, but reading the rulebook in 2nd or 3rd was never exhausting or unpleasant it was actually fun to do on it's own, because the writers back them were wargamers with soul who cared instead of the homunculi hired by modern GW from the tournament crowd. Reading the rules isn't supposed to feel like a job you have to get out of the way first to start having fun playing the game. If that were the case then rulebooks wouldn't have lore blurbs and art. In fact if you prefer it like that why even play with miniatures? Just use tokens with the unit names written on them.
>>98115795Nu Guardians, Rangers, and especially Warlocks look like ass, and most of the new Aspect updates were lazy and mid.

>>98116103Still one of the dumbest decisions GW has made and I live in constant terror of the day they announce a new Battlefleet Gothic and it's also Horus Heresy slop and it just dies out immediately too.
>>98116099Thanks anon.>>98116103This kind of proves my point because a good number of opinions share that specialist games studio is made up of better rules writers because they just are better at their craft and have more incentive to write better rules so that their games sell.

>>98116016I'll take playing against a dim player all day long. I enjoy teaching the game and helping people figure shit out. I don't have any real stand-out stories. The tournyfags just have to play every game as if they were at the final table of an event and I'd rather have a casual "beer and pretzels" game most of the time. The real bad ones are just people with shitty abrasive attitudes or people who don't know how to bathe. Although there hasn't been a stinky in a long time so I think they all got ridiculed away or staff spoke to them.
so im gonna try to get my hands on the ork starter half, and ive also got 20 more boyz and 10 gretchin (the older ones with the herder)so apart from that, what else would you guys consider fundamental ork units i should get to start a collection?absolute must haves for me are ghazgkhull and at least some kommandos, but beyond that im not really sure whats essential and whats more niche or a waste of time. im not broke but i've got a total of around $800 to get this army on the table, so i need a decent game plan to get the most bang for my buck.

>>98116040The flipside to "Epic Armageddon" is "Epic 40k", where the rules were so bad it crashed one of GW's most popular games.Armageddon only came about when the rules were repurposed into Battlefleet Gothic and they had to ask "What made this well liked when Epic 40,000 caused projectile vomit."The Epic Armageddon playerbase still was only ever a small fraction of the playerbase Space Marine/Titan Legions had had.

>>98116164Yes but the edition is also going to have new points values for everything, and there's some discussion as to whether or not some datasheets will get rewritten. For instance, almost every penalty to hit (Such as Stealth) in 10th is -1 to Hit. But Cover is -1 to BS. That means things that ignore hit modifiers or give +1 to hit are much weaker due to the +1 bonus limit.
>>98116195
>>98116191speaking of, the fuck was with gw and those ironic ultramarine videos and articles?did they mean to release this BEFORE the wave of models or did they make these specifically to damage control and mock whatever potential pushback there was from the wave of ultramarines? or was there some other ultramarines releases coming that was then delayed?
New to Warhammer in general (just started painting minis in January) and was wondering how good/supported Kill Team is? Girlfriend and maybe one of my other friends are the only people I have to play with and I'll largely be supplying all the models so things like Spearhead and Underworlds over in Age of Sigmar seem really appealing since full on 2000 pt army Warhammer just isn't gonna be feasible. But because 40K has so much content, including all the video games I can play by myself, that's appealing. Seems like Kill Team would be my only option for tabletop play if I went that route though.
>>98116222The Ultramarines reveals got pushed up by like four weeks because the Marneus Calgar model leaked from an internal meme going up on social media.
>>98116225By far the most supported specialist game at this point. KT alone outsells several 40k factions, probabl most AoS factions and all of TOW. It's not likely to go anywhere over the next few years although they will drop another edition at some point.
>TQMixed bag of characters including the Classics™ - About half are the stereotypical: Fat, balding men ranging from 20 to 50.- A knights player who brought 3 lancers to his last game against me (GW play the only usable in HH please).- A school teacher who seems to win at every competition he is in- One guy who works high up in local government (but isn't a politician)- A tranny (Classic)- A woman (Female) who is so autistic it makes mine look tame by comparison.

Love fantasy but the level of support for 40K just makes it difficult to resist. Hard to be on the outside looking in at shit like Rogue Trader, Space Marine 2, Boltgun, Darktrader, etc.
>>98116248I think if you want a low investment entry then Kill Team and Spearhead make sense. But it kinda sounds like you're being FOMO motivated too, which is never worth it.

Why do they add women in male factions? Women have their own thing like Adepta Sororitas. And then there are female inquisitors and other cool stuff. Why do they have to rewrite the lore?
>>98116225the other anon already gave you a good answer but I wanted to share that the other day i randomly came across a youtube vid of some dudes who run a store and shared the numbers of sales on their store over 2 years and KT was at number 2. >>98116254Definitely an element of FOMO and I probably prefer the aesthetic and fantasy setting of Age of Sigmar more but it's also that I'm a big lore/worldbuilding autist so 40K having a ton of secondary content to the tabletop game really has its thumbs on the scale.

>>98116339It's a game that pretends to be a tight competitive game while utilising the worst of GW gimmick rules and design flaws.Current Kill Team doesn't have listbuilding. The game is solved, with Teams being played the very same way every single time since with no listbuilding it's extremely easy to work out the most optimal setup. There are operatives that are never worth taking, same is true for gear and equipment. It has extremely and unnecessarily convoluted cover rules while still using the absolute dinosaur of wargaming rules - True Line of Sight.Everything is a gimmick and a keyword salad. The bloat is real and rightfully makes many people think about the 7e.This is simply the worst iteration of Kill Team we ever had if you consider KT21 and KT24 to be the same game, since they pretty much are. The fact they resigned of using fucking shapes in place of number values is hardly an upgrade when everything else stayed almost the same at its core. There are dozens of better sci-fi skirmish games that let you use your Warhammer minis.
>>98116048It seems way too consistent and free of logical contradictions to be AI slop. But I don't think the anons suggesting it are doing so in bad faith. Technical language is not something everyone is used to, and many people are overly focused on catching AI in all forms.

>>98116727No. Games of chance and dice belong to the Devil.
>>98116523>Got any source on that? Because Beaurocratic incompetence is kind of the Imperiums thing. Not him, but when you look at the population numbers GW does give for some stuff, like hive city populations. It is said that an average hive city can contain anywhere between 10 BILLION to 100 BILLION humans within them. And according to the fluff at least 85% of Imperials worlds all have at least ONE hive city cluster on their surface.Mind you that 10 billion number itself is already bigger than current day population of OUR Earth. It's calculated that there's around roughly 8 billion humans on the planet currently. So with these numbers alone, say if the Imperium decides to conscript at least 2% of the hive city populace into guard regiments. So even at the low end of 10 billion, so 2% of 10 billion, that'd still amount to like 200 MILLION guardsmen conscripted. This alone is an insane amount of man power to have. And if we go with the 100 billion number, so 2% 100 billion, that's about 2 BILLION guardsmen conscripted into the Imperial service. Which is even more ming bogglingly massive number, since 2 billion is roughly ONE FOURTH of the current population on Earth.Imagine 1/4th of our entire planet getting conscripted and getting sent to war.

>>98116733They dont actually have the logistics and manpower to conscript 2% of a Hive at one time, and even if they could, the Guard is still only the top 10% of the armed forces under usual conditions, with the other 90% being PDF. Of course, that's still a fuckload of bodies so you're kind of still correct, but it's not to quite the same degree you're suggesting. The biggest bottleneck is actually in providing troopships to transport Guard regiments off-world, there are only so many Warp Engines, Navigators and so forth they can build and train in a given time, the Navy is always stretched thin.
>>98116744>Mostly sending the unlucky to the front lines. You can get off frontline duty with a good blowjob. Meaning those who give good blowjobs survive, while the bad blowers get frontline'd away. This means the average Hive City dweller is a superb blowjobs machine, explaining their extreme population growth

>>98117123It happens to every big immortal "badass" at some point. Swarmlords, Demon Primarchs, and Phoenix Lords are just as notorious for this. If you can get killed in a fight without staying dead permanently, GW will use that out to have a confrontation to prop up their hero without altering the setting significantly.Has that ever happened to a CTan shard? I feel like they might try it with them too.
>>98117098Best Eldar lore/fluff came from the Imperial Armour books because they made them scary to fight because they utilised their advanced tech so much. Eldar these days seem to only be advanced as the Imperium with a bit of magic sprinkled in. They're meant to be leagues ahead of every other race in the galaxy bar the Necrons and maybe DaoT humans. You're not meant to be able to hear their vehicles, they run as silent as the wind and they're on you and gone again before you even know they're there.
>>98117112Be that as it may they've always been closely associated with the Craftworlds in lore and in terms of codexes/army lists. They might occasionally fight on their own but not enough to justify getting a separate codex.
>>98117138>Has that ever happened to a CTan shard?Constantly, yeah.

The authors literally have to call the lore department to ask how to interpret things in their books and the editors also go through it with a fine comb to make sure it's lore accurate. If things don't ass up in a BL book it's because they haven't decided it as hard lore themselves or they simply don't give a shit.

You're training and fighting 24/7 until you die like a Space Marine. This isn't the guard where you get shore leave and random hookups in downtime. You're training and praying. Why would your Cannoness suddenly let you go off with someone else to settle down? The only time a SoB is let off is when she gets so old she goes off to tend a small sanctum or library and I highly doubt romance or bearing children is on the cards at that age anyway. There is literally one mention of a SoB in a relationship in the entire BL and Codex lore and it's a passing observation from a Ciaphas Cain novel that was written before SoB were even properly established as their own faction with real fluff outside of Witch Hunter footnotes. It's as ridiculous as a space marine settling down with a wife and kids half way through his career.

>>98118153My impression is that it was live action, cavill is an actor first, hes not going to produce an animation.
>>98118159>GW can now enforce copyright in ChinaB-bros James workshop is too powerful.
>>98118167I figure he won’t too.40k is just so over the top that live action may not work.I’m not sure how lord of the rings worked in live action but that’s rare. And so much cgi is used it all might as well be fully animated.Michael bay might be perfect for directing the action and war scenes though.
>>98118170I mean, its more that IP law is a scam to enforce neo feudalism. It disproportionately empowers major companies (who have used the power of the corporate lobby in the US specifically to enlarge the legal power of IP for over a century).Medical IP is one of the most sick things ever created by mankind, but IP in general just exists to maximize wealth extraction by pay piggies. There is no moral IP law, its literally just gentile mind control. Everytime anyone criticizes disney or monsento or eli lilly, these companies ripped straight out of the cyberpunk RPG, 1000 retards will leap to those companies defense in the name of obscure porn artists on twitter (90% who make copyright enfringing work anyway).
>>98118189Disney adults are weird. They make me stop and ponder if I’m a Disney version of such a term but instead of Disney it is warhammer.

>>98118291A nigga at t6 2+ 5++/3++ that's chucking down a str8 ap2 pie plate was definitely doing a bit back in the day, it's why the riptide wing formation was such a meme because even after 7th nerfing of tau's allying ability you could still chuck it in pretty much any army and you've got a very solid firebase.Kinda unrelated but the 7th ed allying adjustments were kinda hilarious because I remember when people were cheering that Orks won a GT, which was a big thing for such a weak codex, but if you actually looked at the list it was really just an ork warlord and weirdboys and the rest was daemon's and more daemon summoning.
>>98118305Have you considered a time machine?
>>98117269The other part is that Owlcat has a noted tendency to write romances that make you feel like a cuck. The lack of Argenta romance would have been less significant if the base game female romance options weren't "Eldar that considers sex with humans bestiality", "Silent trader that will constantly cheat on you and steal from you.", and "Fishwife that's perfectly fine but if she stays with you instead of taking over the Navigators the game calls you a bad person."A lot of it is really resentment left over from the Pathfinder games which were even worse with the romance options.
