>Knights in cloaks covering skeleton armour (or maybe its their real bones) stealing peoples souls for human sacrifice
Why isn't there anything this edgy in 40k? Why no cloak skeleton swordsmen whose left hand (sinister) ripping peoples souls out of their body?

How fast is James gonna rush out a traitor guard army to “deny sales” from wga?

In all seriousness Thank you anon!
I hope the heavy infantry come out soon.
So I can make a chaos stormtrooper army with tauroxes.
Assuming that guard variant army doesn’t get squatted.

all these things are in 40k, but not on thing specifically
the good thing about this hobby is that you can kitbash it yourself
>>

I’m joking but I can see James doing that.
People joke that GW does nothing and wins like China.
But the thing is games workshop pays attention to the competition as they are paranoid of losing their number one spot.

Played a game earlier using the new 11th rules. We sort of muddled a 10th ed mission with one of the new layouts. Overall it definitely feels like a better game, not that it was very hard to improve on 10th. Terrain feels better and it's great that we used no L-shaped ruins.
>>
>>98144163
I like it too, but its a crime they did not use the "standard" cadian neckjoints for them too. Sure, you can fix it with a bit of cutting and/or greenstuff, but there was simply no need to give each of the 10 bodies in that set an unique neck opening, so even switching between heads from the same set is more difficult than it should be.
Still, one of the best sets they released in the last years.
>>
>>98144182
That's good to hear, i think the biggest balancing hurdle the rules team will have to overcome is not be retards and price detachments appropriately.
>>
>>98144151
There is a type of Necron called "Flayed Ones" who wrap themselves in the skin of their victims.

Alternatively if you wanna be a cool og sicko you run SM but paint them as Legion of the Damned.

Would elder consider this to be bestiality? Which would mean there is a chance that some dark Elder got their rival raped by a bunch of humans as an ultimate humiliation.

>>
>>98144204
i really hope now that GW makes the most out of multi detachments this edition, even if they're just for casual play it'd be cool to have unit restricted detachments for stuff like LotD and other stuff.
Honestly i wouldn't be surprised if agents of the emperor get the ability to go in other 40k codex armies by mid edition.

I just want to say that Rick Priestley was pretty clear on adding medieval christ motiffs to rogue trader and 40k when he concocted the setting.
However he's british and therefore conflict avoidaint in parley. Thus his theme: bored public school boy day dreaming whilst enjoying classical education is too subtle for the proles that infest society in major.
Really at the end of the day people who take this lore seriously are caught in a teenagers fantasy to make school enjoyable.

the points, overall have changed shockingly little since 3rd edition. most models rarely increase or decrease more than 10-20% from their core amount, despite what other people may say in hyperbole

so depending on balance, a 1k might end up swaying to 900 or 1100, but i wouldnt expect it to lose or gain half its value, even over the course of multiple editions. very very very rarely does this happen. the only recent example i can think of in the last 10 years was the leagues of votann redesign that took them from an elite low model count army to a more midsized trading army and cut their points in half, but that almost never happens, certainly not with something as long established as marines

>Emphasis on making Ork Core "space barbarian"

>Emphasis on Ork hierarchy; boyz choppas are sharp metal, Nobz & boss get cooler stuff. They decided what each could and couldn't have
>Reporportioned the boyz, not much rescaled (Boyz are the same size as beastsnaggaz)
>Grots are inspired by 2nd edition grots to look like they'd fight along the orks (gorkamorka grots too different). Grots are a bit "soldier like", with combat boots & such.
>Boyz got both shoota & choppa because they saw people only taking the melee option for the extra attack since the boyz didn't shoot great, shootaz are cool
>Wanted to have some hierarchy, so banner boy & bigboss
>brought back cloth banner & flat armor for "eye relief" and transfers/colors/etc.
>"Diorama in the box", hence psyker duel, banners for each, etc.
>Kept the Dok simple. Didn't imagine him sewing people back together, so gave him a big scary stimulating syringe. "Not patching you up, keeps everyone fighting"
>Wanted to show the Dok's skin so you could see the many stitching he's done on himself. Went for a "creepy" guy.
>Trakk was designed to look very sturdy. Designed after Wazdakka. Late decision to put a Nob on top. Chieftan on top of his chariot.

Quick anon hide! Hide from the nudity and the female nipples!!
Since the Imperium is built upon the idea of humanity being beatiful and the most perfect and a celebration and literal worship of the human form, their really should be nude statues of great heroes, and servitors made from good looking peoples bodys, painted gold and worshipped by the filfthy throngs. Their whole skull obession is from the idea that
>even at its most basic humanity is beautiful
yet we don't see male or female nudity being celebrated anywwhere un universe.
>>
>>98145691
The top one would be tasteful if it was a wych instead of a regular spiky dark eldar with the breastplate removed. It does emphasize the neck and the line of the shoulders better, which make the head stand out even more, but the fur offers a natural place for a complementary color.

Yes, but there are three LEADERS (Warboss, BigBoss Kept you waiting, huh, Weirdboy) and two SUPPORT units (Painboy, Bannernob) in the Ork army. So you still have one unit left without bodyguards.

Adding insult to injury, the three LEADERS are all ones you'd absolutely want to attach to a unit.

I know this place can be a mess so anons would rather avoid this general because of it.

Stupid ass, it's beyond obvious you were nowhere near aosg in its first years, it was shitposting central and while the new armies caught heavy shit (deservedly so), the old stuff did too.
And no I didn't say anything remotely resembling everyone was playing fyreslayers or khorne, some WHFB players made the jump to AoS but that doesn't change the fact that WHFB models were attacked up and down those generals. I was there and I saw it. So you can shove that narrative that you aosfags are noble wargamers straight up your fat ass!

Yeah that's fair.
But we all know the only reason for that is because Calgar actually has a model that people can buy, unlike Tu'Shan.
Who is still modeless after all these decades btw.

There's only 2 Salamanders models currently, He'stan and Adrax Agatone.

The white male fighter archetype of WHF is Bretonnian knights.

And Stormcasts don't work because the entire AoS setting is soulless as fuck shite designed by committee instead of feeling like it was created organically by bunch of different creators.

The reason why WHF works and AoS doesn't is because WHF was created by historical nerds who intentionally took inspiration from history and ancient kingdoms and then applied and mixed it to create their setting. It makes the setting feel more grounded.

AoS doesn't have this because it's all vague fuckery about "muh realms" and "muh planes of existance" that are fuck huge, bigger than planet type things. Ad still on top of this, there's also at the same time an infinite amount of these "realms" out there. Which makes the setting feel way less grounded or even "familiar".
So people instantly go "What the fuck?" and then don't bother.

Warp beasts aren't actually demons. They're biological creatures adapted to living in the warp. They're not made purely of warp energy. Like Enslavers who are definitely not demons.
>>
>>98147549
the no psychic shit is first of all a personal rule, and only secondly a societal rule for the structural integrity of commorragh.

being a psychically active eldar makes you an extremely visible and tasty target for demonic attentions coming your way, so each and every dark eldar individually chooses to atrophy their psychic nature to lay low and not attract demonic attentions, which also makes them longer lived because slaanesh is syphoning less out of them, so they revel in more shit and need to feed less and can feed for longer with fewer issues.
If an eldar were to choose to cultivate psychic powers without a way to shield its soul somehow it would either live an extremely miserable short life as slaanesh drains it fast and hard, meet an extremely gruesome end at the hands of a different demon in a more direct manner, or would require ungodly amount of "soul food" to replenish their withering soul and actively push off predatory demons.

the richest of dark eldar could probably afford it.

Anyway, nope. 40k was just more popular than fantasy almost right out of the gate. The decline of fantasy can not be solely attributed to bloating army sizes, because 40k went through the exact same thing. Again, symptom not disease.
There's an interview with alan merrett on youtube (by jordan sorcery I believe) where he talks about this quite a bit. They invested a lot in fantasy to try and bring it back up but it just wasn't selling anywhere close to 40k, and at a certain point they just couldn't justify it anymore financially. Keep in mind this was in the dark days of 2006-2016 where gw was stagnating hard, even 40k itself wasn't doing too hot. Apparently there was a real consideration of just cutting fantasy entirely and shifting to "becoming a 40k company".

I avoid buying armies I don't already have even if the deal is good because otherwise I'd be spending liek 400 bucks a month buying random shit like the Lizardman army spearhead for only 100 dollars or the entire Nachmund Fronteris terrain for only 108 dollars.

But I guess if you want to plan ahead to buy a Drukhari refresh box in 1 year and have the ravager there, or use it as terrain or a prop where your army has blow it in half or something that's good too.

What is it with imperiumfags seething so much about Eldar specificially? Any time you talk about the Eldar be it on /tg/ or fucking /v/ some retarded fag starts trying to stir up an argument. I don't get it.

GSC is a bad horde army because the fodder units are far too detailed. Anyone who has painted them knows what I am talking about.

Eldar fans are frequently the ones to point out "Erm, akshully the Imperium is BAD!" when other people are talking about parts of the Imperiun they like. They're insufferable retards, driven by the fact their favorite faction has been relegated to unimportant background roles after an entire existence of failures.
The major irony of this being that Eldar were the ones who spawned Slaanesh, which is what directly led to the current situation in 40k. They're so desperate to point out the flaws in other factions despite being fans of the most blatantly and abhorrently flawed faction in the setting.
They're petty, obnoxious, and ignorant at best, and when you point this out they get just as haughty and defensive as the Eldar themselves despite having no ground to stand on.

>Eldar fans are frequently the ones to point out "Erm, akshully the Imperium is BAD!"
I've literally never seen people say that outside of contexts where retarded imperiumfags are making unironic claims about imperium being morally righteous or some retarded shit like that.
And even then it is usually Tau players who start arguing about the moralfaggot shit.

I for one, don't feel any need to argue who has the moral highground in 40k because everyone being giga bastards against each other is the fucking point. I love my genocidal race supremacist space elves very much. Mon'keigh vermin deserve nothing but wholesale eradication from rightful eldar maiden worlds.

The Imperium IS morally righteous.

>Eldar were the ones who spawned Slaanesh
But aren't CWE and Exodites the eldar who didn't want to partake in the hedonism and noped the fuck out of the ancient eldar empire? If anything the dark eldar should be the ones shouldering the most blame for gooning slaanesh into existence, since their society basically is just a unbroken continuation of that culture. Yet it always seems to be when people are talking about craftworld eldar that they say "Erm, akshully the elves are BAD because you made slaanesh!"
>>
>>98148176
Kek faggot
>>
>>98148131
Craftworld Eldar specificially are not the eldar whose behavior spawned Slaanesh. They are the ones who told other eldar that this shit was bad, tried to save as many of their people as they could and then fled when it became apparent that there was no stopping the doom of their civilization. Dark Eldar are the descendants of the culture whose behavior spawned slaanesh.
>>

All of them were responsible, either from neglect or ignorance. They ran away instead of fighting it.
It's like if the Siege of Terra occured and the loyalists simply ran away. They would be just as much to blame for what would have happened next.

>Dark Eldar are the descendants of the culture whose behavior spawned slaanesh.

>>
>>98148177
>>98148179
Blaming Craftworld eldar for Slaanesh is standard behavior for disengenious imperiumfags. They either don't know the actual lore of the setting or just don't care as the primary reason for that blame game is so they can justify their retarded and unfounded feelings of moral superiority.
>>
>>98148179
>>98148191

>>
>>98148186
You are the one pretending that imperium is somehow morally righteous when the lore of the setting explicitly paints the Imperium as a horrifying dystopia. I am not the one trying to portray the eldar as something they aren't, I fully own the fact that they are arrogant race supremacists, it is imperiumfags like you who for some retarded reason have to pretend that "um actually, the imperium is good!" when entire point of the fucking setting is that the Imperium is a horrifying shithole where human life has zero fucking value.
>>
>>98148197
Dark Age of technology humanity could have wiped out the Eldar and prevented slaanesh from rising but they chose not to, so really they are at fault.
>>
>>98148186
>>98148197
You literally do not know the lore. It has been stated for ages in Eldar codexes that the Craftworld eldar descend from the ones who warned about the impending doom, and how the ruling classes who were part of the hedonistic pleasure cult shit ingnored those warnings, seeing the ancestors of the Craftworlders as foolish moral puritans.

You are essentially complaining that the Craftworlders didn't stick around and die with the rest of their race when Slaanesh was born.
>>
>>98148186
>All of them were responsible, either from neglect or ignorance.
Does this also mean the emperor is responsible for empowering the chaos gods by neglecting or ignoring the warlords and armies he created get corrupted? He ran away to go work on his science fair project instead of micromanaging 18 dudes.

Why waste time fighting with prey when you can just go for the kill on the easy targets? The Dark Eldar don't need wage war on lesser races for territory in real space, they raid to harvest and the imperium is the great larder with nigh endless supply of prey for to sustain the apetitites of the Dark City.
>>
>>98148232
Incorrect. The Eldar did not fight against rhe pleasure cults to stop Slaanesh. The Emperor did fight the Traitors to stop Chaos.
>>98148233
You fundamentally misunderstand the setting, like most Eldar fans, and that makes you unworthy of arguing with any more. It ceases to exist as it's 'melted' down by the Hive Mind, empowering nearby Synapse creatures. The Doom of Malan'tai shows this best, as it consumed an entire Infinity Circuit before murdering every Eldar on that craftworld with impunity.
>>
>>98148247
In what why am I missunderstanding the setting, dipshit? By not buying the retarded tourist bs copium about how Imperium is totally justified in it's actions and everything it does due to muh xenos and chaos? The only people who spout that nonsense are fags that hate the idea of Imperium being just a legitimate dystopia, that is kept aloft solely by the inertia of it's sheer size. The horrifying dystunctional retardation of the imperium is the fucking point, tryign to blame the state of the imperium solely on muh chaos & xenos is missing the fucking point. Humanity in 40k has degraded and regressed into a state of ignorance, superstition and fanatical dogmatism, and the imperium is just as often to blame for it's shit state than it's foes are. It is a dysfunctional and tyrannical dystopia, where 99 percent of humanity lives in absolute squalor, and are ruled by noble families who have basically no checks and ballances on how they treat their subjects. The very structure of the imperium itself creates massive suffering for the imperial populace, and no xenos or chaos influence can be blamed for that.
>>
>>98148268
anon you're arguing with a tourist shitposter, just let it go
>>
>>98148247

Nope. By your own standards the Emperor is still responsible. You said:
>either from neglect or ignorance
>ignored the issue until it was too big to ignore
The emperor knew chaos existed, he knew that some of his sons were dysfunctional retards. He was either ignorant of what his creations were up to or simply ignored it until it was too big to ignore.

I kind of want a sect of chaos worshipping eldar THAT ARENT DRUKHARI that decided to serve one of the other 3 gods as a way of protecting themselves from slaanesh

Like they serve tzeentch and in return he prevents them from getting slurped up or something.

Well we already know some of them worship Khaine, who is just Khorne. Or he used to be. I don't know if that was retconned
>>
>>98148283
The Emperor knew the threat of Chaos and also knew that revealing it could have disastruous consequences. Do you think Kurze, Angron, or Lorgar would hesitate for a second to cast their lots in with the Chaos Gods, even if only to spite him?
And all signs now point to the past 10,000 years having been part of the Emperor's plan, to cast out the Dark King and establish a new path of ascension to save Humanity.
>>
>>98148289
The Eldar didn't create men of iron, nor did they force DAOT humanity to act like cunts towards other alien races which exacted their vengeance of humanity during the age of strife.

Also, the craftworld eldar tired to warn the Emperor about Horus but were ignored.
>>
>>98148298
DAOT Humanity collapsed because they became unable to traverse the Warp since it was becoming unstable leading up to Slaanesh's birth.
And why would the Emperor EVER trust the Eldar?
>>
>>98148292
Khorne and khaine were never the same in 40k that's different from fantasy. In fact khorne "saved" khaine from getting eaten by slaanesh because he wanted to claim him for himself. And from both chaos gods trying to snatch him he was teared to a thousand pieces, thus getting shattered in a thousand avatars.
>>
>>98148297
So now you're saying that half his armies turning to chaos, his empire falling apart, mankind being thrust into a dark age, and his own state of living death were all according to keikaku? So he willfully empowered the dark gods and fucked the whole human race right in the ass on purpose. Very impressive.
>>
>>98148302
DAOT humanity's collapse began before the warp storms. The rebellion of the men of iron preceded that.

There are like 3 kinds of Chaos Eldar
>Chaos Eldar who have devolved into bat like monsters
>Crone World Eldar who are straight up worshippers of Chaos, either undivided or one of the major gods
>Crone World Eldar who during the Fall became Daemon Princes
Remember in Asurmans backstory he spends several years after the Fall in some temple and outside there are eldar cultiusts who sacrifice people and just mad people just in the streets so it wasn't a 'everyone died all at once on every world' but a more drawn out event.
>>

I'm still kind of sad the Yannri and Croneswords plot got shitcanned. Eldar and Tzeentch both famous for not keeping up their end of the bargin and trying to manipulate each other, could have gone a lot of ways and having chaos gods war with each other would be cool.
>>

Ynnari as their faction has all the elements to become a cool shit... But James and Gav killed them without remorse and I suspect they are planning the complete annihilation of the subfaction too.

Like, they poised them perfectly to make established Craftworld, Harlequins, and Dark Eldar players all hate them and did nothing to try to set them up as their own thing instead making them borrowed assets with some weird leaders. No generic leaders is a fucking sin, too. They did it again with Corsairs and I don't know why they ever think it's a good idea to tie an entire faction to a single named character.
