I wish lightsaber colors had no meaning
Yes obviously from a viewer’s perspective Red = Bad and Blue = Good.
But in universe, it shouldn’t matter. Tell me what sounds less retarded?
>Vader had a blue lightsaber but he later made an evil one by taking a crystal and torturing it with darkside magic until it bled and turned red as bloood
>the jedi Anakin Skywalker owned a red lightsaber, which he kept after joining the Empire
“Jedi Weapon” my ass, now everyone has one
>>
>>98146231
I still like the idea of them changing colors, but I hate Bleeding as a special ritual.
Anakin's lightsaber starts out as blue, or maybe purple, and every time he is tempted it flickers red. Just a flash, then a moment, a whole scene, after the final battle it never turns back again. Also, if every jedi can have blue or green now, give sith a second color. How come every color is good except red. How come magenta, purple, and pink are all good and red is 100% evil. I liked it better when green was implied to be Luke's special color, instead of being a sign of a jedi having a melee or ranged build in a video game.
>>
Hey, you, yeah you! Give different lightsaber colors something unique. It can be whatever you want. Personality traits, ideology, whatever.
>red
>purple
>blue
>green
>yellow
>orange
>>
>>98146296
Behold my OT purism / autism
>red: Rare natural color. Used by some Jedi, now famous due to Vader. Future Sith use it to imitate or pay homage to him
>violet*: Rare natural color. Used mainly by Jedi.
>blue: Common natural color. Most Jedi wield blue blades.
>green: Common synthetic color. Jedi who make their own blades without the full resources of a Jedi Praxum often wind up with green.
>yellow and orange: Rare synthetic colors. Common among Luke’s students due to the difficulty of acquiring naturally-occurring lightsaber crystals
Despite these differences, Jedi rarely ascribe meaning to their lightsabers. They are weapons first and foremost, the ornamentation is rarely worth mentioning

>>
>>98145770
What do you think about the Imperial uniform redesign in RotS?

Also, TQ: the DC-15 but as shown in concept art before it got turned into less of a merge of different WWII guns
>>
>>98146501
Yeah, OT purism considering that Maul, Dooku and Sidious all use red sabers lmao
>>
>>98146231
eh, I disagree, i feel that space monks/space-goths would formalize colors. It just being “what you like” feels too lacking in ceremony and snowflake-y to me.
>>98146501
going pure OT I like the idea of green being a synthetic version of blue, but I dont feel like Vader would be one to intentionally sithify/dark-jedi-ify his sword. with that in mind maybe red is the dark hedi color and yellow/orange is basicly like how green operates, made by dark jedi who are not initiated into the sith/dark jedi tradition of red light sabers like how green is made by those not fully initiated in jedi lightsabers
>>
>>98146501
I kinda hate synthetic crystals as much as I hate bleeding. Synthetic crystals just don't feel as magical enough to me to be used in wizard magic, like making a lightsaber.
>>
>>98146725
> but I dont
meant to say but I DO.
vader would def put as much dark jedi symbology as possible.
So I would assume red is connected to the dark side, just by the ot.
>>
>>98146792
Bleeding is one of the cooler Disney ideas. It actually makes crystals feel connected to the user
That's why the colors = roles idea is so popular, because it gives characterization towards characters unlike just being cosmetic choices that don't matter at all
>>
>>98146296
Jedi see the force physically, so they get blue as a main color, as well as green and purple
Nightsisters see the force emotionally, so they get red(maybe magenta), as well as purple and orange.
A third group, like maybe the Baran Do, see the force mentally, so they get yellow, as well as orange and green.
Other force groups exist and get whatever colors best match their philosophy. Luke gets green because he's more heady than most jedi, Anakin and Mace get purple because they allow some emotion. Plo Koon still gets orange, since he would have a lot of cultural connections to the force outside the jedi. Green Jedi are all literally green. I feel like the saturation of your color is based on your commitment to your ideology. Most are more of a cyan or magenta instead of actual solid blue and red.
>>
Ill do you one better
>Red: Jedi Knights (Sword Masters)
>Blue: Jedi Knights (Diplomats)
Chill Jedi chose blue, Knight Templars went red.

>The rest: DIY colors. Since Luke’s students follow a new tradition, you can grab any color you want. (but red has a bad vibe now)

Fallen Jedi are more likely to switch to red since its old fashioned and aggressive

Some kind of attunement ritual, that would be cool.
I'm never sure what to think of lightsabers. Sometimes they are depicted as being super-important, like an extension of the jedi using it what with "this weapon is your life" or the deference Vader shows to Luke newly-built lightsaber and how it shows Luke's growth as his own person rather than someone following blindly into his father or Obi-wan's footsteps.
But they are just as often treated as mere tools, and not just by darksiders.
I think I prefer them as something symbolic and important.

All this talk of lightsabers' colors remind me of Ninth Jedi. I'm hopeful about it to be honest, but it would be nice to get some news.

Bro, look at her face, she looks like she's 12. The California slut outfit for a 14 year old was already weird in the show but it's whatever, weird glaxy with exotic pagan cultures and all that, I get it. It's aight because the artstyle and her design made her very clearly just a teenager. She looked and acted like a teen. She just had a weirdly skimpy outfit but that was it, we all saw and did that type of stuff when we were 14 if not worse.

But when you make her hyperrealistic and for some reason you choose to give her some weird gerber babyface and bigger boobs on top of that that she did not have in the movie forgive me for thinking that it looks like something Epstein would have loved on his desk.

Just adapt her movie artstyle face into a more realistic one if you really want to keep all your overpriced toys hyper photorealistic. What's the need for the weird ass face? I know they were trying to make a homage to Ariana Greenblatt I think but nobody noticed when they were making it that it would look this strange? They finished it and thought it was perfect? In fact, isn't it worse that they chose the face of a real girl when she was a kid a few years ago and played the character? What gave Ahsoka the pass was that other than the outfit all of her design was very modest and normal and even the outfit was quickly replaced as well in the show anyways. She had the face of a random normal 14 y/o and barely any chest so people wouldn't get creepy on her. Why not just adapt that og design to a "real" flesh and bone look? It would look completely different and not like you like to hang out near elementary schools suspiciously often for a single man with no kids.

Buy the thing if you want, I'm not the police or your mom, I don't give a damn. And if you can look at that ugly thing that looks nothing like Ahsoka and not see anything weird then unsarcastically good for you, but I ain't got no benefit of doubt left in me. Somebody jewish made that thing.

Just started a 900xp Jedi game, the opening days of the New Republic, PCs met up after coming together to help in the assault on Kuat Drive Yards. One PC is a Mandalorian team that showed up to find and secure any beskar the shipyard still has, another is an archeologist that wants to search the galaxy for Jedi relics to rebuild the Order, the third is a pilot that crashed the assault shuttle on purpose so he has an excuse to steal a brand new ship for himself before the NR claims them all.
>>

Capeshit fans ruined Star Wars. >>98148666
yah, thats what I mean, Orange sabers either come off as red or yellow to me.

Weirdly green seems to be usually pretty distinct from blue.
>>
>>98146296
>red
Corrupted or synthetic. Only the sith tradition can create either. only the highly force sensitive can tell the difference. The former are more attuned to dark energy and particular powers, especially that of their corrupters.
>blue
Standard. Just a good solid resonate crystal.
>green
Same as blue, higher floor, lower ceiling.
>yellow
Decaying crystal. Often synthetic in origin, or just improperly created or corrrupted by people not properly part of the sith or Jedi tradition. Becomes potentially more sensitive to and so aids in certain force manipulation as it decays, based on its degradation and use.
>purple
Someone versed in Sith teachings but still a jedi. Aware and steeped in it but not tempted by it.
>orange
Same as yellow, last surge of power before more rapid decay.
>white/gray
Ion. Training saber.
>black/invisible
Either an uber saber with the weight and heat of a thousand suns, or an illusionary catalyst that mind fucks people into believing they’ve been cut and so being cut. Basically a force dick measuring contest where you die if you lose.

So, you have a plan to save Star Wars for me?
>>
>>98148950
Yup, Luke uses the time travel dimension to change the past and erase the sequel trilogy, when he gets back he finds himself targeted by a former Imperial, Mara Jade, and her ally Prince Xizor. She tries to seduce him to make him open to assassination, but he dicked her so good she can't go through with it, they team up to fight Xizor and his crew of former Inquisitors.

In the sequel Luke leads a group of tweens and a preggo Mara to find Jedi relics, stuff happens, adventures, he has to fight the Jensaarai and an NR spec ops trooper/pilot that's obsessed with showing up Luke because he hates always being second best to a guy that hadn't ever been part of the NR military to begin with, along the way they discover a new source of kyber crystals since even eliminating the ST doesn't restore Ilum.

You now remember the traffic control stormtroopers
>>
>>98149113
Why do they have their own armor? Why are they right next to regular Stormtroopers?
>>98149115
Army Troopers = Beat Cops, Stormtroopers = SWAT. We see a Stormtrooper guarding a starport, as well. I figure the Empire is a lot less concerned blurring the lines between military and police, plus I still remember IMPS that had Stormtroopers be like police on long-range deployment. Even a peacenik planet like Naboo has their 'security forces' practically be both military and civilian.

Alternatively, Shoretrooper got rebranded as like the actual police units.
>>98149137
This actually kinda makes sense, lightweight armor for police work.
>>
>>98149145
>Why do they have their own armor?
You think the real life Coast Guard doesn't have their own uniforms, bases and ships?
>>
>>98149106
They're called that but to me they're tropical troopers, even where they appear they're alongside standard Stormtroopers. But looks like they are moreso meant to get their feet wet and be outside among the trees. Course if andor is saying they're specifically meant for shores then there's no saving the idea.
>>
>>98148950
Cash in on what's left of Mandolorian enthusiasm, we're going back to the past and fleshing out the Mandalorian Civil War. Animated movies with big budgets, I'm talking money that will let us match Spiderverse's production quality. Shadows of the PT plot elements, Plagueis and Sheev are making the most of the crisis, hell, maybe this is how Sheev makes his way to or first makes his name in the Senate. Padawan Obi-wan and the not-yet-Duchess Satine meet, fall in love, but their commitment to their respective destroys their chance at happiness. Raid the EU for any good ideas, Jaster Mareel will return in some capacity, and Jango must be included.
>>

I judge trooper variants purely on aesthetics. I've soften some on Shore Troopers over time, but I still don't like them much. Something about these helmets (as well as R1's Tank Troopers and the Death Troopers) just doesn't do it for me.

>>98149137

>>
>>98149145
>Why do they have their own armor?
Presumably because it provides some benefits when in tropical or coastal environments. Maybe it's more water resistant, maybe the visor on their helmets helps keep the sun from shining in their eye lenses. The Empire can afford to build ships the size of Manhattan, but not produce a bunch of specialized gear?

They clearly have prop designers who want to do that sort of design work with the patchwork droids in the gotra in the mando movie, I wish we could see more of that for the remnant troops instead of all these masterfully maintained units under rich warlords, the closest was s1 of the mando with slightly dirty stormtroopers

More they effectively purchased his death estate from the CIS.
So, everything he had associated with being the Head of State of the CIS (Subject of course to them being able to actually get to it, hold it, ect).
So I've decided that includes his estate on Secundus, as well as any other holdings in the CIS held worlds. His estate on Serenno is going to be a plot point later though since technically they bought into that can of worms.

I'm looking more for artefacts or interesting bits and pieces he could've had that can become plot hooks. The Sith Holocron is 100% going to be in the pile for example.

what's the thread's opinion on SW D6 systems?
WEG SW 1e? 2e? 3e? Reup? Mini Six? Hyperspace D6? Opend6 Space?

Just saying, my pet houserules are:
-Static defenses for each attribute, total pips x 2.
-Second wild die's 1 doesn't count.
-In Mini Six, Force is a 5th attribute, compensate by giving extra skill dice at char creation, +1D / +2D is fine, +3D is a little OP but ok.
-Body Points are better than wound track, strength total pips x 4(or 5 if you want OP)
-No Soak, instead Damage Reduction (DR) = armor stat.
-Skill pips can't go over the double of stat pips.
-If you didn't declared a second action and the first action was without penalty, second action is -2D.

That's why I said 'Alt-history'
Basically the long and short of the campaign is "What if Palpatine failed to stick the landing on Order 66."
So, everything prior to Order 66 is as canon, everything after it has gone to hell and the entire galaxy is descending into a sort of Sengoku period where there's an Emperor but he's got no legitimacy outside of the core worlds. The CIS survived, Skywalker has set up his own warlord state centred around Naboo, ect.

So, Dooku is still dead as that happened pre Order 66, but the CIS are still a state entity, one that is fully aware that Sheev was mere hours away from tying up loose ends on them and wants exactly nothing to do with the Force going forward.

What's the right amount of people for a "tight knit" smuggler's crew? Is this ship In Swtor, the Smuggler has a crew of 7 in this ship, even though I only see 4 beds in the crew quarters, and 1 bed in the captain's quarters. For an EotE game I'm going to run, I'm thinking of having players find the Swtor Smuggler's Corellian XS Light Freighter, and take it as their own. Despite being 3500 years old, it had illegal modifications to make it one of the fastest ships in the galaxy. I think.

do people legitimately not like the clone wars movie? The one with the baby hutt?

I just rewatched it and it was pretty entertaining, not great, but completely fine overall. The only stand out negative is the animation, but most of the worst of it is background stuff, for most foreground things, and especially the lightsaber fights, they are pretty good. In fact, I would say the action scenes in particular are pretty stand out. Oddly enough I feel like its one of the things that shows captain rex in the best light. In fact, both the clones and droids have some good characterization in it. The first city battle, the one climbing up a verticle pillar, obi vs Ventress, and Anakin vs Dooku are all great.

Plot itself is nothing to right home about, but anakin learning to embrace the roll of a mentor as a hot head himself is a good dynamic. And while ashoka isnt fantastic, it is nice to have that over-eager padawan energy.

Overall I think its a very good encapsulization of the clone wars as a whole. I remember there was a lack of actual front lines battles in the series proper.

>what's the thread's opinion on SW D6 systems?
>Mini Six
I specifically tried out mini six because I thought it would be more aproachable for solo play. Havent played it with a group yet since mine has a set dnd schedual, but I did use mini 6 specificly in a star wars setting for a solo campaign to test it out.

I really did enjoy it. I liked the distribution of the d6 system with pips chipping in as a nice way to introduce incrementality where a straight d6 system would feel too boom or bust. I felt like there was a good balance between chance with riskier things and being pretty secure when you roll something you have high dice bonuses with. I especially like how its combat really pushes you to fight in a more modern-ish style skirmish and cover gameplay compared to d20 style distance management and more static positioning. There being 4 defensive options plus the ability to dive for cover really gives it a more star wars blasters and lightsabers style combat flow compared to a premodern swords armor and arrow feel. Cover gives you a big bonus and flanking really exposes you. Being able to split actions is also nice, though you do kind of have to build your character with clear priorities to use it well with the -1d to each action. Its easy to make a very impotent character if you arent careful. I like the stats blocks, I find they are a nice balance between simplicity and characterful.

Seeing as you are also using mini Six, I also got the sense that it could really use a 5th attribute, but force imo is too character specific for that. instead I would personally cut Agility in two to stop agility-bloat. One that has to do with full body acrobatics and coordination, maybe keeping the term Agility, and the other to do with hand dexterity, called dexterity. Han solo is no ballerina, stepped on a twig and alerted a scout trooper in RotJ, but he is handy with a blaster and a hot shot pilot. So he would have high dexterity, but medium to low Agility.

It's fun and full of soul. Yeah, it's junky in a lot of places, but there are many cool things about it. The series also retroactively made it much better, as there are a lot of moments that hit you in the feels, knowing what happens next. Also, Ziro is funny as fuck. Stuff like that is not possible in the current year, only Lucas was crazy enough to come up with something like it.

>Mini Six Combat
I like all that you mention too, I even integrate the fog/smoke/lighting cover modifier from breachworld and it increases the tactical options very nicely.

Light smoke/fog +3 to TN
Thick smoke/fog +6 to TN
Very thick smoke/fog +12 to TN
Poor light, twilight +3 to TN
Moonlit night +6 to TN
Complete darkness +12 to TN

>I would personally cut Agility in two to stop agility-bloat
I like your idea, specially when GMing, (but when I play as a character I like agility-bloat to min-max, lol). I also always thought the word "dexterity" would cover one specific field better, and the other would be agility. So one is fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, etc, and the other is for whole-body movement.

>but force imo is too character specific for that.
My reasoning to include a Force 5th attribute while using Mini Six is not my original idea, is based on Mini Six optional rules (at p. 18), this optional rule called Paranormal Abilities in the Mini Six Bare Bones book, it is for magic users and psionics, it is basically "The Force" if playing SW, of course I limit it to SW lore.

To balance it and not make it OP, no extra attribute die are given. (also characters can have 0 paranormal D), and their skills are "quasi skills": at character creation you buy them with attribute dice instead of skill dice, they don't have sub-skills specializations, and for advancement you can buy their pips with character points at the same rate as skill pips/dice.

My players don't use it that much tho, they are the brawler type or the techie type, so they keep things simple. I narratively give them bonuses when using the force, buffs, etc.

Because they look like shit? Stormtroopers are faceless elite enforcers because that represents what the Empire is, a regime which doesn't care about the individuality of the people but rather consumes everyone together in the same system of control.
Army Troopers just look like average dudes who may as well be Rebels or security staff for a corporation.

>players
holy lucky.
I play at the local library, so we kind of have to get our system in early cause we will be playing that for the next 5+ months. there is 1 and a half tables, one is consistant and its pretty much alays dnd, the other is more intermittent and can be a veriety. Think I played that one game with success and fail dice once thats also star wars, but d6 is more of my taste in terms of crunch to fluff factor. I might try to set up an actual session though sometime.

I like your idea about smoke, could make smoke grenades a really useful item. That paranormal section in the book is interesting, but imo, just to lessen mental bloat I just made it a normal skill. Which tbf I could see really being taken advantage of if I was a dm for players, but when soloing, I tend to have the restraint to only give force abilities to those it would make sense to have them.

I set up a mini solo scenario to test it out. I played as a freelance intel operative with some jedi training, but nearly no aptitude for telekinesis, Coran Horn style, And a Bothan FIghter pilot who knows whats up in a scrap. Hired to take out a corrupt imperial officer who was selling vacationers on a ski resort planet. Was cutting into the resort's profits so we got hired. Did some recon, gave a Imperial DMV officer a flower with a hidden camera, and got a good view of the imperial office interior and codes for the back door. Bothan saw a speeder truck occasionally coming to the office to pick up suspiciously human shaped boxes. We snuck in with the gathered intel, set up secrete cameras for evidence of the transaction, then springed an ambush during the drop off, firefight ensued, Intel officers decent shooting, a nice grappling take down, and a jedi mind trick combined with the Bothan's Great shooting and a flank did the job and took the imperial official alive. Thats where I stopped, but I think a get away chase will be in order.

>Previously you'd have a patchwork of planetary cops and some military here and there. Empire comes in, and it's all Imperial Army.
My critique wasn't the system, it's the design. The Imperial Army troopers look lame as fuck and don't fit the consistent, faceless and scary look the Empire should go for.
>>
>>98152710
I prefer the version presented in Maul, where local systems have their own deal, and call the Empire if something is serious enough, and the Empire shows up with stormtroopers. Maybe some specialized units for specific things, but there is no generic Imperial Army, there's troopers, officers, and ship crew. No traffic cop troopers like in Solo, no "shore" troopers, just the standard guys, and maybe extreme/unusual environment teams (Hoth, Endor, Tatooine etc) and SWAT, the guys with the heavy repeaters, rocket launchers and sniper rifles.

The Empire isn't the UN, it is a nation-state. It should wholly and completely erase local identities where it can. Of course, not the entire Empire is like that. The Maul planet is more like a third world shithole getting police actioned.
>>
>>98152832
>It should wholly and completely erase local identities where it can
Which is what local authorities were afraid of in Maul, they didn't want to call the Empire because they didn't want them to set up a permanent presence.

C'mon man, Mace got off his ass the first time when he whipped Palp's ass, it's not his fault that he was so into the moment that he got snuck by Anakin. If anything, if Anakin had stepped in to help deflect the lightning, and if Anakin had taken the final stroke to kill Palp, Mace probably would've formally named Anakin a Master on the spot. We could've had the future with Anakin as the future Grandmaster of the Order. Where the Council sanctions his relationship with Padme because the chosen one's bloodline should be preserved. Everytime I watch RotS, that's what I'm hoping that part changes to.
>>
>>98152947
You're right, but the failing is mostly Anakin's, he didn't understand the Jedi's ban on attachment, if he did he could have been openly married to Padme and not had any problems. But, you can't give away the answer to a lesson like that. Yoda almost did, but Anakin was too thick, or just too caught up in his problems, to hear it.

The OT trillogy really deserves props for how well it lays out the mechanics of things in this universe. It really conveys how things work with minimal attention. The amount of stuff that outlines how fighter combat works during just the trench run is really staggering. Changing where you put your sheilds, targeting taking a bit to take effect, crafts having different combat and flight modes, etc.
>Same here, good balance
Yah, hits that balance between crunchy enough that you can make a fleshed out concrete feeling character, but flexible enough that you can easily spitball situational things without having to think about all the run-on mechanical consequences.
>That sounds like fun, why did you stopped it?
Well, It wasn't too long ago. I was like 40 minutes in and felt tired with it so I stopped to not burn out. I'll probably pic it up when the mood and mentality strikes me. Members of the 413th Armored Penal Legion operate on remote or highly dangerous worlds. Resupplies are rare, so smart soldiers learn to make do. Many kitbash their armor by scavenging from other legions who fled or were broken before the 413th arrived.
They typically act in a delaying capacity: Penal soldiers arrive en masse and stem the bleeding while the brass decide on a course of action. Due to their inferior discipline and unusually cruel tendencies (even by Imperial standards) it is rumored that the 413th are deployed to simply punish whatever world they occupy.

This happened to Sharpe, way back when. With "shiny" troops you only need as many uniforms as will be displayed at once, especially if faces are covered. The same 12 guys can appear onscreen again and again. If you have kitbashed or uniquely weathered costumes then the re-use is obvious, and so the number of unique pieces needed goes up precipitously. Continuity gets harder too.

The Prequels were infinitely better movies than the shitty OT, OTard.

That is certainly a take, whether it's born out of boredom or is a sincere point of view remains to be seen

Funnily enough I thought the mud troopers and imperial army troopers looked amazing.
That’s all I remember the best from solo.

He's mad because we pointed out how he's wrong and he has no way to refute it, so he just turned to insults.

OTrannies will never live down that their shitty trilogy is inferior, and that Lucas left them behind in the last century. No matter how many times samefagging is done, the OTard/OTranny trilogy will never be as good as the PT.

Buddy, Star Wars hasn't changed. It will never have the tone you want, it's been the same the whole time, not even Disney's shitty writing changed that. That space opera genre you dislike, is in everything, even Andor. Because the end of the Andor storyline is Rogue One, where a climactic battle decides the fate of the galaxy and featured a mystic blind guy and an evil cyborg space wizard that lives in a lava castle. You can try to talk shit about people who prefer the original trilogy all you want, but the franchise never moved away from it. You can prefer the prequels all you want, their tone and genre were still dictated by the original films anyway.

But I know you don't actually mean anything you're saying, you just want a fight.

to this day, i wonder why people want an army of AT-ST drivers thats somehow larger and more important than the entire stormtrooper corp

legion got the hierarchy right, with stormtroopers as basic units, specific-environment troopers as elites, and death troopers as hyper-elites

He’s baiting anon.
He will bait harder until nobody responds and he will leave on his own.
If he doesn’t just don’t respond and let his screams yield nothing.
