>>98149417>TQThe pre-5th undead army was a million times more soulful than the post split TK/VC.Chaos too were kino back when you could mix Warriors, Daemons and Beastmen, as well as having to randomly roll for chaos attributes per unit/model at the start of every game.
>>98149452I agree on mixing Chaos units but DAMN those oldhammer WoC were ugly. And not in a good way.
>TQI've sperged about 5th edition Bretonnia enough lately. As for other factions, I have mixed feelings about chorfs. I love their oldhammer look AND the Forge World look. Both are exceedingly good. If I were to actually collect them myself, I'd probably go for the Forge World ones.
>>98149417>TQI genuinely preferred wood elves before they were so utterly generic and ugly. >>98149520I like old hammer chorfs but I think the forge world chorfs are just laughably bad.
>>98149520Oldhammer chorfs are shit. New ones are mid.I've only ever met a single chorf player. The rest were larping secondaries.
Cathay honestly feels like it’s missing something in its range.
>>98149417Dwarfs have gotten better. All the new TOW releases are great, the Arcane Journal lists are fun and fluffy. Personally I prefer 6th ed metals to the 8th ed plastic replacements so in that sense I like my army less, but that's not TOW thats 8th and End Times that was leading into the coming AoS aesthetic.
>>98149692Half the units from TWW3 aren't plastic yet. Most obvious omission probably being crossbow jade warriors.
>>98149528>wood elvesMy condolences. Even bigger downgrade than Bretonnia imo. The oldhammer metal waywatchers and tree men in particular are really wonderful little sculpts. I hate that nu-welves are covered in sprites and hobo twig armour, and I absolutely despise those stupid fucking half-masks. They even put them on the eagles for some reason.
>>98149748>They even put them on the eagles for some reason.I still don’t get this.
>>98149748What's wrong with bretonnia?
>>98149520Something about this image feels off but I can't put mt finger on it
>>98149816It boils down to a significant change in aesthetic from 5th to 6th and a departure from "HYW France with fantasy elements" to "totally ahistorical Monty Python mudcore Ren Faire." Some of the differences that bug me most:>armour, especially helmets, looks less practical in general>knights went from HYW French knights with fantasy helmet crests, magic, magical mounts etc to a cheaper, less refined aesthetic>infantry went from HYW professionals in maille and brigandine to inbred mudcore peasants in rags>6e caparisons on horses are covered in useless ugly straps have an ugly shield shape on them, everything has a shield shape on it, "MEDIEVAL = SHIELDS!!!!" I guess?>shields went from pretty tame and realistic historical heater shields to Ren Faire toy shields with raised edges on every shield6e knights in general have a cheap and shitty look to them that's hard for me to get over, mainly stemming from the helmets, shields, and horses (i.e. the most important parts of a knight model.) Stillman Bretonnia has a certain realness to it that didn't carry over into the 6e Anthony Reynolds iteration. I don't give a fuck about the change in le grimdark fluff or lack thereof, I'm talking pure aesthetic differences, and in that sense there was a huge downgrade.
They should bring back the 5th/6th Edition Plastic Empire State Troops permanently! Those from 2007 are ugly trash
>>98149746I hope those don’t come in. Jade Lions/temple dogs would be cool though.
>>98150075same. I dont really know what role crossbows would fill in TOW.
>>98150075>>98149746Cathay wave 3 WHEN?!?
>>98149588It's a hard army to get into, and both their newhammer and oldhammer models are quite expensive. Not a lot of recasters carry them either, or if they do, it's usually just the Infernal Guard or something. I want to get into them myself at some point, they seem really fun.
>>98150112>Ponderous so not meant to be moved>more strength than bows with Armour Bane 2>some units like BPB can take shields tooIdeally give them Skirmishers + Scouts, plant them somewhere mid-table in a ruin or otherwise in cover, and try to keep them alive while your doods move up table.
What's the summary of the latest FAQ rumours?
>>98150237>>Ponderous so not meant to be moved>>more strength than bows with Armour Bane 2>>some units like BPB can take shields toocrane gunner fill this niche imo
How is our WTC guy doing?I want to see how his 40 Outriders are performing
>>98150243Skirmishers are going to be raped to death (good)
R.I.P john blanche
>>98150405can't seem to find any reports of his death, but I wouldn't be surprised, recent photos have shown he's not a well-looking guy
>>98150405He's still alive you mongboy
>>98149896>tfw the Stillmaniac himself did the same conversion I did on my Warrior Priest–>Grail Monk on his sorceressFeels good man. It is a very intuitive conversion to be fair.
>this is Blanche's idea of warhamsHoly fucking soul
>>98150458For context
Warhammer (and all other settings) desperately needs proper loremasters, just like Bethesda has (or recently had); someone and the head that can unwind this entangled mess of a lore.
>>98150489Who would you want GW to hire for that job?
>>98150489The only people with enough knowledge about warhammer are obnoxious fanboys with no critical thinking and way too many fanfictions.
>>98150458>>98150463>mona lisaimmersion ruined
>>98150575or exceptionally woke RPG writers
>>98150489I pretty sure they did hire someone like that for 40k years ago, and he turned out to be a massive cunt that no one liked.
>>98150489Warhammer was never built by writers but by artists.
>>98150623Warhammer is a game first and foremost, not an artistic collage
>>98150520Really tough to say. Preferably someone who had worked on the setting decades prior.Rick Priestley would have been my first pic, though he's getting a bit too old; Cavatore perhaps, were he not too busy with his own projects.Maybe Andy Hall would be the a decent choice, I think; he already worked for GW a couple of decades ago and is familiar with the more recent lore, working for the Total Warhammer games.>>98150623Incorrect.
>>98150425>>98150420According to some posts on Xitter, he passed away a few days ago, and his family have just announced it today.
>>98150634yeah seem like it's true, RIPCertainly an artist that had an indelible on GW, Warhammer Fantasy, and Grimdark as a concept
>>98150634He'd become pretty ill year last year IIRC. Rest in peace, none of this would be the same without him.
>>98150489Every time they've tried this, at least with BL lore, they end up with a pretentious power-tripping faggot who writes atheist fanfiction about the God Emperor or shoehorns his OC vampire waifu into his work. Just let the old WD articles and rule books stand as canon.
>>98150631It is definitely an artistic collage: the game is an excuse for the models, the fluff is an excuse for the artworks.
>be newfag to TOW>want to get chaos models>battalion box now unavailable>can't even get generic chaos warrior models on the store that aren't AoSI thought those big boxes were meant to be all plastic as-is. Are some of them getting a refresh or some shit?
>>98150793They're supposed to get a refresh pretty soon
>>98150808I see, I'll keep an eye on that then
>>98150793ToW is being discontinued and the unreleasd Nippon models are already leaked for AoS 5e
>>98150793You can grab chaos warriors for pennies on the second hand market. I'm also sure some online store have boxes left.
>>98150870Anywhere beyond eBay you might recommend? I have 16 warrior bodies I'd like to use, so I just need the weapons and heads (And the command sprue).
>>98150868I'd also die if I saw what Warhammer had become.
>>98150963Where are you? Europe, UK, US?
>>98150868Rest in peace JohnWarhammer rests on the shoulders of giants such as ye
>>98150870>one store with two boxes leftTempting. Though do I trust the anon who says more of the models are getting an update?
>>98151006I mean they didn't take em off the site just for fun. It's also been known for months they'd be updated, has been rumoured by a credible leaker (does mostly AoS stuff but briefly talked about new chaos stuff for tow too). I believe the gist of it was new warriors knights and chosen; and then there were some less credible rumours floating around about maybe a chaos dragon or plastic mammoth, but I wouldn't hold my breath for those last two.
>>98151109going by what has been removed from the website in certain countries, things that or going include>plastic Warriors of Chaos models + metal upgrade sprues(UK/US Webstore)>plastic Chaos Knights(US Webstore)>Metal Champion of Chaos with Additional Hand Weapon(AUS Webstore)
>>98151006HAAAAAAAAAAAAANKTHEYRE GETTING A NEW BOX IN LIKE TWO WEEKSHAAAAAAAAAAAAANK
>>98150793You should join the true children of chaos instead of those human turncoat hacks
>>98151461Some people just really like the older plastic Chaos Warriors anon
>>98151461>>98151488I'll probably just wait in the meantime, then.
>>98150968Warhammer is what it always was, whatever the fuck you want it to be. Paint the official models to the best standard you can and make a loving hand-crafted table, take a cardboard box full of old D&D minis and play a game on a kitchen counter, play it with fucking rocks, it's all in the spirit of the gaem. Just remember the most important rule: NEVER let women or minorities feel welcome.
>>98149864They're all 3d printed proxies, not the original sculpts.
>>98151549Its AI you stupid fuck
>>98151736My good, simple anon, the name of the sculptor is in the filename.
Cover got that Adventure book for TOWRPG depicts the Siege of Klepzig, they don't name the artist, which is kinda irritating.Very Ian Miller-looking buildings in the background
>>98151825I love my black trans Empire great sword gf( she tops me btw)
>>98151825>femdorf engineer throwing a fucking anti-tank grenadeThat's pretty sick actually. Still not giving them a pass for fem-knight or nig noble
>>98151769I don't think he's old enough to know about filenames.
Thoughts about the sculpt?
will he return someday?
>>98152546maybe
>>98151825Are they contractually obligated to put black people on every cover and having a majority women on every cover? Who the fuck is this for? I hope people have enough self respect to walk away from this kind of crap.
>>98152576One of the pre-generated PCs is black, and another is a woman, so they have to show to represent PCs
>>98152591That’s like saying your commercial has to have a black person because that’s who you cast.
>>98152613Yeah, but it's the general reason they show up on the coverI don't think the WFRP5e core rulebook has any black people, but it does have women
>>98150733The game, the lore and the art are all advertisement to sell the plastic toys
>>98150311Nobody is playing that list.
>>98150868Rest well, sweet prince
>>98153026the plastic toys and the art are only made because the artists wanted to make them
>>98153209lolno, artists make what they're told to make and GW was created by a guy who isn't an artist and also doesn't give two shits about minis.
>>98153236maybe that's the case todaythat wasn't the case then
>>98153236Gw was created by non artists, but Citadel (formerly Asgard) miniatures was a team of artists who cared about fantasy art. Warhammer was born out of the necessity to move stock because the art team was extremely productive and enjoying it all along.
>>98153240The CEO sent the chorf sculpts back 4 times telling the Perrys to make the hat bigger every time when they made the new chorfs>>98153261Warhammer was born because they wanted to sell the same D&D mini 20 times to one customer
How do you feel about playing against night gobbo spam?
>>98153332i am night gobbo spam
>>98153332It's gay as hell Always three fanatics in each unit, which were one of the worst designed units in TOW. Not only are they too cheap, they deal too much damage, basically cant be interacted with, give the night goblins player too much control over their release, and take too fucking long to resolve.
>>98153278That was Ansell
>>98153332120 night goblins should be available to bring for EVERY ARMY
Wrong thread sorry.
>>98153351aka the owner, ceo and product manager of gw at the time.
>>98153606I think Priestly said he had already sold GW at the time, but still had some say. He apparently lived in Bermuda at the time, so he was literally nowhere near the GW offices
>>98153616NTA but how does that story makes sense logistics wise then? Were they faxing him photos of model prototypes over the Atlantic?
>>98153657Interviews were priestly talks about it, but the Chorfs had a long incubation period, so by the time they released, Ansell was long gone from the companyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xwl2QKEyFHg&t
>>98152644So did the 2E corebook.
TOW brettonia arcane journal isn't in the gofile. Any chance one of y'all has a pdf of it?
>>98154032Brother, Google it.ToW is accessible online
>>98149588All they've had since 4th edition is a Forgeworld release (with all that entails). Fucking fourth edition, you retard. Of course there's way more people that like the idea of the army than actually play. Plenty of posters do this same routine for any army that's been abandoned for multiple editions, making yourself look (even more?) ignoring all the lack of support so you can pat yourself on the back and pretend you're special for playing GW games on the GW board. It's sad as fuck.
>>98150793The AoS warriors work fine but you need 2 boxes for a 20 man unit which makes them bloated. If you dont like their aesthetic as the others have said you may as well wait till they get a proper refresh which looks to be happening soon.
>>98154391I certainly don't mind the AoS Chaos Warriors aesthetically, but if it's more cost-effective to wait then I don't mind. But speaking of that range, I also heard their Chaos Knights are apparently a real bitch to build. Are the current ones for TOW also older sculpts?
>>98154412I got a unit of the AoS knights and it made me not want to do a knight army for chaos until they make a new kit. The kit itself is good visually but as you say its annoying to build due to the shield being weird with what its attached to. But mainly its fucking awful to rank up especially with lances. I use it as my chosen knight unit but if you want a proper knight unit youre better off waiting for a refresh. The old kit Ive used but they do look a bit small. Pic related is WIP of chaos warriors so you can see what they look like. Ive got loads more but few pictures and I wont get round to painting faces anytime soon as Im shit at it.
>>98154542I see, I don't have a lot of frame of reference for building cavalry other than maybe Vertus Praetors for 40k, which were a bit mildly annoying (and still are with how high the lance is on one pose) but manageable to build and clean one in about three hours. If they do new knights for TOW, hopefully they're more manageable since that's still a lot of time if you're fielding heaps of the fuckers. Also neat vibrant colors. I'm thinking about silver contrasted with black and something else to bring it together.
I am going insaneeeeeeee
