>>98154844For bonus points, a really good 40k art piece expands into the lesser known parts of the setting and gives them life, expanding on the world without breaking its themesThere's one edgy 40k art piece I saw here that's really stuck with me with horrible scenes from hive city life, e.g. lynch mobs stringing up mutants. It took the logical conclusion of "bloodiest regime imaginable" and ran with itOn a non 2D art note I also really liked the Necromunda FPS, it depicts every little mundane aspect of hive city life right down to the huge piles of paperwork in an Administratum office and the workers slaving away in Basedlens Viridian factories to fill shipping containers of corpse starch, which then get thrown into a crevasse because someone forgot to turn off the production line
Picked this up recently. Excited I found it
>>98154857I would consider using it to inpaint/erase, or upscale something you're photo bashing, as acceptable and not too different from using the "fill" tool in MS Paint, but that's where I draw the line

It took the logical conclusion of "bloodiest regime imaginable" and ran with itIf you can find it please post it.>necromundaIf you’re actually referring to the fps game and not the turn based one then maybe I’d say they both somewhat do a good job of representing the atmosphere of the underhive.Has there ever been a story of a guard regiment moved to an underhive for any military objective related reason? Also oddly enough video games tend to have good music even if they are terrible games. Is that with kill team that got taken off steam? The rest? Both necromunda games?Has any autist compiled all the soundtracks of every Warhammer vidya game including the bad ones and the ones that got taken off steam?I need some music for when I paint.
>>98154426Does anyone have a pdf of the Reign of Iron book?
>>98154823>What are the things that makes a warhammer 40k art piece a good art piece?Nailing the aesthetics. The appeal of this game is, mostly, aesthetic. Painting your minis, seeing them on the table, the entire rules, they are all in service of the power fantasy of /yourdudes/ doing whatever it is that /yourdudes/ are meant to do.Note that be aesthetic I don't just mean art style. I mean the atmosphere, the subject and composition. A good 40k piece has to immediately feel like 40k.Take the image you posted. The gothic buildings in the background as well as the obvious futuristic crusaders immediately tell you what kind of setting this is. The whole painting is framed by this dark and overbearing smoky sky, where explosions and fire take up most of the middle. There are hundreds of men all piled up fighting over a giant mount of blood, rubble, and their fallen comrades. The nature of the setting, characters, and and the battle is immediately obvious. And it just feels cool
Thinking about using some sacrosanct stormcast bits to kitbash with emperors children, mainly just heads. I think there are some passable female heads in here, so I could probably turn the flawless blades into femboys, maybe giving them womb tattoos is an idea as well. Also maybe incorporating the actual helmets onto noise marines as well? Idk. Also trying to figure out how to make a sorcerer for emp children with one of these bodies too.
>>98154876>rat>fag
>>98154890stormcast heads are tiny compared to marine bare heads
>>98154888Also, David Gallagher's art is underappreciated. I only ever see the same few pieces from him posted.
>>98154849He's a little sloppy but I'm working on it. I am no professional.

Do combat squads have a marking? I imagine they have markings of squads I through X, but when the two split, are there like X-1 and X-2? I don't recall reading anything about it in a codex but I could've glossed over it.>>98154927Good looking gent
>>98154849Working on my corsairs. Pretty happy with how the power sword is turning out. Photographing black minis is impossible though.
>>98154942In the 2E codexes for marines and the divergent chapters the answer is no but that the guy with the banner (the squad leader [not to be confused with the sergeant]) leads the combat squad. Realistically he'd be like a corporal or something but rank minutia like that isn't a marine thing imo
>>98154942No, units of 10 splitting into two units of 5 is an operational gimmick aimed to adjust to the current battlefield situation - it doesn't alter the organisational structure.
>>98154849not really working on anything after finishing up these. my thunderhawk is somewhere over the pacific right now and that is what my mind is focused on, getting ready to mod that.
>>98154958>that is what my mind is focused on, getting ready to mod that. Can't wait to see it
>>98154942Not really, it used to be a thing way back in ye olden days with banners and markings, but I don't think they actually flesh any of that out anymore.
>>98154888Well said anon
>>98154955>>98154957>>98154962Gotcha, I won't worry about it then.
>>98154849Just starting with the base layer on some lychguard, but maybe I'll switch over and do my BT Marshall in JB's honour.
>>98154959thanks anon, I'll be basing it off this old ass sketch of an inquisitor's gun-cutter. obviously removing the main gun is part of it, but also scratch building the nose and cutting up parts of a blackstar for cool bits.
>>98154967If you want to get into the uber autism of chapter/company structure, check out the old second edition codexes, they're a treasure trove for this stuff that I also eat up
I was thinking of a daemon price whose form is a flower made from hundreds of its bodies as it looked as a mortal, inspired by this pic (might be AI or ai touched dunno but its cool trippy imagery that inspried me)But I'm worried having some daemon prince who is motionless like a plant is at total odds with what daemon princes are as evil daemons actively leading dark armies for their god. Thoughts?
>Finally managed to turn 9th edition basic rules into a raw .docx fileJesus, what a hassle. Nevertheless even a small milestone is still a milestone. Are you working on anything hobby-related that is not building and painting?
>>98154985Give it tentacle-like roots so it can move.
>>98154823>What are the things that makes a warhammer 40k art piece a good art piece? It still needs to look like bashing action figures together.
>>98154993fair point, but the crhacter of the daemon prince was that it is some mad prophet who predicts the future, but is highly schizophrenic and babbles nonesense from most of its heads and prone to bouts extreme emotional switching. So you have to sit and listen to it crying, raging, babbling to try and find some truth. I dunno might work better as just some type of Chaos Spawn than a full daemon prince. It's just useful enough to tolerate the time you need to appease it.
>>98155001How about his main flower-body being planted on a very specific soil transported in the flagship while his splinter bodies act as his drone-avatars and commanding Chaos Champions?
>>98155002That's an interesting idea. Would the splinter bodies be smaller flowers or just like, his normal body? Obviously I like anything that would make it more plant like, so individual 'prunings' that are just one or a few of his body being planted that grow into other flowers would be really creepy and strange as daemons should be.
Any other dwarf niggas here? How do you do your ironkin domes? Is it inaccurate to give them different colors?
>>98155008I think they should be more human-like to actually perform their combat-oriented tasks but nothing stops you from tying them up in a unified aesthetic by making them share 1-2 common elements related to the main body. Perhaps they all should have helmets or shoulder pads shaped like the main body's flower petals? Possibilities are endless.
>>98154875which one was your favorite, anons?

Hopefully the DP cost of the chaos detachments you need to take to use daemons will be cheap. I can't see them cost that much since their benefits are situational.

Why can’t GW write a good ruleset?
>>98155285Because their good game designers keep leaving. It's GW's fault.
>>98155285game is secondary to the hobby of minis and painting
>>98155285If rules are bad, you can just change the rules yourself to be more balanced if you're playing with friends
>>98155285because GW is a model company, not a games company, silly.
>>98155314GAMES workshop
>>98155285because at the lead of projects there aren't competent people but people that have been connected with the company the longestbecause the company is selling too much to risk making changes too drastic, even if they could be good, so they only do very minimal shiftsbecause the rules are to be written with the lowest basic consumer in mind and cannot be complex, or require additional tools or hobby work
>>98155285Because they do not need to. People buy the miniatures anyway.
>>98155320They still sell games. >>98155285They sell good rulesets. You as a player might think they are bad, but they as the salesmen would tell you they are great rules: because they make you buy lots of miniatures. Whenever you look at wargaming rules by a company who also sells the models for the game, you need to keep in mind that selling as many models is their biggest motivator. So rules are written with "sell many models"-focus first, and "is it fun?" is only asked as a secondary objective. - Some games and rulesets can achieve both, and others can't. But that does not necessarily mean they are bad rules for the company that makes them.
>>98155285Poor balance equals more miniatures sold
>>98155320Yes, GW argued in court they are a miniatures company, not a games company, during the chapter house case.
>>98155285Brits aren’t capable of making good games. Leave game design to the Asians.
>>98155194I got it from pinterest, 99% sure its pure ai but based on the artstyle of Gustave Doré, who did all the super famous depicitons of Dantes Inferno and biblical scenes
>>98155358Name one good asian wargame
>>98155285Because bad rules sell better. 40k was never a good game - even pre-5e editions were okayish at best compared with other well-written games. Bad games get a lot of traction though, much more than good games. You barely see people praising great games compared with the constant flood of more-or-less unhappy opinions.
>>98155367Obsidian protocol is a wargame I’m closely keeping an eye on, granted it’s Chinese. Also wasn’t battletech an Asian thing at first?
>>98155358>Leave game design to the Asians.I think you meant Japanese.Chinese can only make casinos disguised as games, and South Koreans can only make grindan simulators. None of the rest of the continent has made vidya of note.
>>98155376>Obsidian protocol is a wargame I’m closely keeping an eye onThe question was to name a good wargame. Is it a good wargame or not?
>>98155361I don't think it's AI. Look more like a collage.
>>98155376>Also wasn’t battletech an Asian thing at first? No.
>>98155376I'm not saying Obsidian Protocol is bad, but its not out yet, so what exactly makes it good? And more specifically, what makes it better than anything from the UK?
>>98155381>vidyaWe are not talking about video games. Warhammer 40k is not a video game, so whenever we discuss "games" in /40kg/, we are talking about wargames. And if the answer to >Why cant GW write a good rulesetis>Leave game desgin to the AsiansThe context is pretty much very clear that its about rulebooks for wargames, not video games from asia.

>>98154823>What are the things that makes a warhammer 40k art piece a good art piece?you need to have everything cranked up to 11. thats it. thats the only requirement. drawing space marines? alright, those should be the most heroic, desperate last stand, bolters blazing chainswords revving emperors chosen heroes standing in the face of oblivion space marines ever.drawing the imperium? cool, show me the hyper techno medieval europunk meatgrinder cybernetics with castles and ships so large its difficult to comprehend how they even exist while untold billions march their streets as humanities wretched squallor clogs every crevice of the galaxydrawing eldar? i want gleaming gemstones and impossibly beautiful alien architecture, a landscape dreamlike and organic yet hauntingly artificial, a world and a people with such poise and grace that they flit through the skies and dance on the tips of blades just whatever it is, make it the most it can be. a lot of the new art, especially the primaris promo art is just so fucking tame and flaccid, here's two corporate products in a fistfight. it lacks the detail, the scale and scope, the excessiveness, the over the top bombastic and all encompassing awe and horror that 40k is meant to inspire

>>98155544nothing quite illustrates the loss of ability to portray that "crank it up to 11" factor in my opinion than stacking an old rendition and a new rendition of a similar scene next to each otherthe new stuff is so god damn clinical and clean, you can practically feel the suits standing over the artists shoulder breathing down their neck "make sure it looks like the product. make it on model"
>>98155569In your anus?

>>98155580100%, there's small attempts to getting back to the old wild messy/filled with small detail look. Pic related, but now that guy doesnt make art anymore and is the director of mini development. Maybe if we get refreshed/redesigned daemons we could get some really cool shit
>>98155587in a way the decline of 40k mirrors the in universe setting, of the old civilizations being the shining peak and the modern version being decaying, full of ignorance, forgotten techniques and lost artironic
>>98155599>>98155580The new art looks like it was done with contrast paint. Lost all vibrancy and color for a more "smooth" finish.
Is dark mech more advanced than admech or are they more regressive?
>TQYou need to do something different. Why should I look at your artwork? What's special about it?If your artwork is just a picture of a miniature, it's pointless. If your artwork retraces what's already been done but worse (like >>98155580), it's worse than pointless.Warhammer art pieces are a window into the universe, and I don't want the window to show me a concret façade, I want the window to show me a forest far away after the hills, beyond the ruins of an old windmill.
>>98155624>advancedIn what aspects? Demon fuckery and forbidden (xeno) tech? Yes.
>>98155460The Casino Cannon brings something Nids badly lack. The Exocrine is nice and you'll want it too, but on the Tyrannofex that big gun will be a game saver (if you're lucky)

>>98155624I always thought that like CSM, they are poor equipped and worse supply lines that they compensate with daemons.
>>98155637This can be one aspect, but at the same time, they have no artificial restrains. They would openly experiment with xeno tech, fuse demonflesh and literal demons into that, and combine it with a demolisher cannon or a bolter. And sometimes, the end result might actually work.
>>98155624Demon engines>Da Vinci designsSimple as.
>>98155632Just curious if they’re technological ceiling is higher than the imperiums, I’m not expecting them to compete with something like Eldar or necrons.

>new detachments don't have their DP cost or dispositions in their entries. So GW is keeping those for the MFM then, eh? I guess that means they plan to change and adjust both of those as they go.
>>98154849Now that defilers make emperors children a functional army I actually want to play them
>>98155624After 40 years of being totall ignored in setting its hard to say. Individual forge world rulers in admech probably have some of the most advanced tech in the setting, that can rival dark eldar and necrons and other super advanced races. But its all hoarded away and secret because their whole religion is hoarding knowledge. Darkmech is probably the same, hoarding great daemon binding techniques, AI, captured alien AIs, daemon Ai fusions and tech they just invent themsevles. I do think dark mech should have scary freaky shit never seen before when you face them, which is quite demaning creatively because they should have so many tricks up their sleeves you don't see the same shit twice
>>98155700>I do think dark mech should have scary freaky shit never seen before when you face them, which is quite demaning creatively because they should have so many tricks up their sleeves you don't see the same shit twiceThe problem is, GW will settle for one theme for them, out of the 100 possibilites. Similar how AdMech is DaVinci styled, or Genestealers are all Miners. For sure, there might be some forge worlds with Da Vinci looking vehicles, and for sure many Genestealers settle in mining worlds, but its not 100% of them. And the same will happen with DarkMech if they ever get a miniature range. And sadly, since 30k already has some stalk tanks for them, this direction is no longer available for 40k. So they will find a different look for them.
When do you think gw will pay people to test their game
>>98155708>And sadly, since 30k already has some stalk tanks for them, this direction is no longer available for 40kThey'd have a different design (probably following the same fleshmetal design as the daemon engines) but I doubt they'd get cut entirely.
>>98155708thisalso the line will be tiny (1 walker 1 transport 1 "tank" 2-3 different kinds of infantry and some characters3 years later they'll get a another bunch of minor characters and maybe some jump infantryBut we added the defilers and forgefiends to the codex so you can just paint those in dark mech colors!

How do you feel about painting your dudes as one of the official Chapters but giving them custom squad markings and numbers? I want to paint my small 1st Company army as the White Scars 1st Brotherhood but I am not a huge fan of their squad markings. You think you could get them to sit down for even an hour and learn about soldering, and the difference between ohms and watts?

>>98155839I imagine they would have a similar set up as deldar Haemonculi and wracks. Anything technical would be left to trainned dark tech priests and people trying to impress the boss to get taught shit

>>98155869a single squig likely wouldn’t cause any trouble. it simply isn’t be able to spread enough spores to cause an infestation, and its even more unlikely because the noble will keep the squig indoors where everything would be regularly cleaned, so even if lone spores could grow into orkoids, they would be immediately destroyed by routine cleanings.
>>98155898Black Legion is a prime example of my point, they are constantly fighting other Chaos warbands to try and bring them into the fold, Abaddon regularly fights upstartsIt's not that Chaos can never get anything done, but infighting, treachery and general retardation does hold them back from their full potential (even more than it does for the Imperium)

>>98156511Most chaos armies being able to use them just leads to lots of people wanting to pick up a box or two. Not only that but the spawn box has tons of left over stuff after you build them. If you want a whole bunch of extra spikes/tentacles/whatever for kitbashing the spawn box has plenty extra chaosy bits that are nice to have on hand. Plus for being such old models I don't think they look that bad personally. Updated models would still be nice though.
>>98156591same but I still need to get the heavy skittles and that tech priest lady first
>>98156477red corsairs definitely aren’t that. their leader is a servant of chaos now, and they employ the help of tarellian dog soldiers. night lords are a bit closer, but still aren’t really. the problem is that chaos worship is so prevalent among traitors that outright spurning them is pretty much a death sentence, so they still have to play nice with them, and because they let chaos worshippers get their foot in the door, there are many night lords in majority agnostic warbands that worship chaos and spread it around which further complicates attempts to distance themselves from chaos. and they are also liable to dabble with xenos because they are so undersupplied.
>>98156579Would a Helbrute or Chaos Rhino/Land Raider work?

>>98156567>>98156679What's funny to me is that there's some scene with C'tan that said it "recognized" humans as Old Ones creation. So either the C'tan is mistaking humans for eldar, possible since it's been repeated numerous times in the fluff how humans and eldar are remarkbly similiar. Or the C'tan has become senile as fuck and hallucinating humans as some hairy squirrels.
>>98156709or the ctan knows what the creations of the old ones have in common and look like regardless of their distant originsand that ctan in particular was fully aware of everything going on in the galaxy despite being locked in a basement
>>98156679But not the "Old Ones created mankind" bit, not the way people like to regurgitate it as if humans are in the same boat as Eldar or Kroks. It's just stupid; are we really going to sit here and say that they created cute little tree rats just to check the sci-fi trope box of an ancient progenitor race being responsible for EVERYTHING in the modern setting? Why? How does the Old Ones jacking off in the primordial soup on earth improve the setting?
>>98156736This. They should do "Humanity are actually Old Ones" instead. ESPECIALLY "Human cavemen created everything and are the Old Ones all along" Could you imagine how awesome it would be in 40k if they revealed the Old Ones were human cavemen? We could have fucking psykers with power clubs riding dinosaurs. Human Lord Kroak equivalents beating people with stone axes and spears made of necrodermis or some super metal.Even better, make them Space Marines. The War In Heaven was actually a battle between several Chapters and Warbands of time-displaced Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines sent sixty million years into the past. These battles were witness by the primitive Aeldari and Necrontyr, who the loyalists and traitors found and gang-pressed respectively. At this time the Aeldari were much more similar to Humans physically, which led to the Loyalists seeing them as abhumans instead of xenos. The CSM simply didn't care and enslaved the Necrontyr. To this end it becomes evident that the Old Ones and the C'tan are not actually xenos, but are Marines deified by the primitive xenos.Biotransference is, in reality, a Warp plague concoted by Vashtorr and unleashed by the Traitor Warpsmiths upon the Necrontyr. The Aeldari were tought to harness their Psychic potential by Loyalist Librarians, while the Aeldari 'gods' were merely the various Marine Captains as well as the leaders of the attached Imperial forces.Could you imagine a 40k where everyone is a Space Marine? Every human. Every Xenos. Every Chaos God and Daemon. You know what I want to see? Some VSM kills an Eldar or Ork. He grabs the head for a trophy and underneath, he finds somehow that there's a Space Marine helmet underneath the skin. Then he looks to his men, realizing he can see vague Astartes patterned shapes in their skulls. He looks in the mirror, realizing the same. Then he one day through some method that let's him see his patron Chaos God.The Chaos God is a Space Marine too.
>>98156462That's the iconoclast route in the rogue trader videogame. There's multiple places like that in the setting, the galaxy is vast enough that a rich noble, rogue trader, rogue warlord, etc could feasibly create a little empire if it's small enough and self-sufficient enough to not be noticed. If you go rogue, the imperium destroys you, but it stands to reason that some people could remain hidden. In the rogue trader videogame, if you go this route, you have to fend off a retributive campaign from the imperium, and that can go a few different ways. But in some endings, you succeed, and you get your little free-thinking utopia (and some variations therein where some things aren't so great).
>>98156763We get it, you played Halo.

>>98156736>in the modern setting? this shit has been the case all along, anon, since 40k was made connected with fantasy, because fantasy had old ones that made humans.you just don't want to understand that the old ones are characterised as being the kinds of fuckos who plan multidimensional millions years long topplings of dominos such as throwing a random artifact at some cavemen to kickstart their cultural development only to grab a piece of a telescope they would construct shortly before their civilization collapses thousand years later.
>>98155497Base bright red, then orange highlight, then yellow. Choose a very bright yellow, is so sensitive a thin orange wash will blend it together.

>>98156763>Stone Age MarinesInteresting. So do they make weapons and tools from defeated enemies? Do they ride mammoths?
I now realize that Exodites will be Space Amish and never cavemen no matter how many dinosaurs they have.
>>98156736Yes, that's what the lore says. The Old Ones seeded mankind on Earth, but died before they could fully uplift them from animals to humans.Look here. The mural is a depiction of the War in Heaven. Notice the human baby among the created reaces of the Old Ones.

Hello anons,I have been thinking of making more faces with tattoos/war paint. However, I have run out of ideas. I would like to request inspiration. I do not mind whatever theme they are. Thank you.
I always thought it was funny 40k operates on the premise that the average person is a moron. They'll say the imperium is in rough shape as their justification to join chaos, but chaos is the reason the imperium is in rough shape, and chaos only is powerful when people join it and help it. It's this stupid, short sighted, and completely unnecessary self-fulfilling cycle that retards feed into. And that's not to even mention how it's almost always worse. Whatever complaint you had about the imperium, even the valid ones, chaos plays with you like a toy and then eats your soul. And for what? For all of his sins and flaws, at least the emperor's goal was humanity ruling the stars. You can address whatever minor societal flaws you want once that goal is accomplished. Meanwhile chaos's goal is to eat everyone's souls. If the emperor wasn't betrayed by morons who fell for chaos's lies, he may have accomplished his goals, and the very bad situation people cite as their reason to betray humanity for chaos wouldn't exist. It's so stupid.I know people get mad whenever you point this out, because the imperium is supposed to be one of the bad guys since there are no good guys in 40k, and that's true to an extent since the Imperium is indeed very fucked up, so the "there are no good guys" is mostly intact, but the cause of the imperium being fucked up is still chaos and the morons who fall for chaos, so there's sort of a "well that bad guy is worse" or "that bad guy started it" sort of situation. In other words, the Imperium is bad, but they're bad was a direct response to what Chaos is like, and they didn't need to be bad if not for what Choas does that makes them bad. They've sort of written themselves into a corner. They really want to say there are no good guys, but then they write something that explains or justifies the imperium's bad behavior since everyone else is worse, or started it. Pretty much only the tau and votann aren't worse or did something to start it.

>>98157167> but the cause of the imperium being fucked up is still chaos and the morons who fall for chaosThe Imperium massacred or practically glassed human worlds that refused to join it's empire. Not chaos worlds, not xenos worlds; human worlds who when approached by some armoured door salesman saying "join us or we get angry" obviously were a little hesitant. It's one of the very first things Loken has a problem with in the first HH book. The Emperor's policy on deliberate ignorance was also incredibly stupid that given that galactic infrastructure relied upon knowledge of the warp in order to do shit before the webway project was finished. Yes, humanity encountered aggressive xenos, but a good portion of Imperial violence was against humans who simply didn't want to be shackled under the rule of a distant world and empire they had little or no connection too in the thousands of years of isolation during the Strife.

Then they can move-shoot-move themselves back down and out of sight. Enhancements that give a unit deep strike and free ingress like Cartel.Transports being death-traps isn't ideal, but it's not the end of the world or anything.
The problem is that there is genuinely just no upside to posting your models here. You'll get a couple responses saying "nice work bro" and that's it. And the potential downsides far outweigh that. Your army is semi-identifiable information if you've ever posted it anywhere else. You'll get one of the mentally ill schizos here finding your other posts, or worse, the slim chance that someone recognizes you irl.I go to tournaments, I enter painting competitions, and I post on various discords. My army is recognizable since it's well painted and is a custom scheme. So there is absolutely no way I'm ever going to post my stuff here. And I don't blame anyone else who has the same policy.
>>98157364no
>>98157478I'm never posting my models here for that reason.I don't want to fish for compliments, and there are better places to get feedback. It's a forum, it's mainly for talking. It's anonymous, it's not meant for a "community". We have fun, we (try and fail to) dodge the trolls, and in the shitmine there are gold nuggets. The only time I'd break that rule of "no posting models" is for that one anon whom I'd like to show my custom krieg model once it's printed & painted. No, I do not believe that posting models, or having models, change how truthful or retarded a take is. I've seen the worse takes about hobbying, warhammer and miniatures from people who spent a lot of money and time on models. Your skills as a miniature painter do not translate to your wisdom.

I bought an eliminator squad today as my first models to work on before the space marine starter kit comes out but I have choice paralysis gluing them togetherI don't even know how to play yet how am I supposed to commit to a weapon forever

>>98156783They need a good rival. Alpha Legion vs GSC would be cool.
What makes the Wave Serpent by far the best model Games Workshop has ever made? The thing is from 2005 or older yet is better than most kits to this day. The only update it needs is the pilots but that's it.
>>98158381I hope he pulls through. Rooting for the little fella on this.

>>98158589I mean they're still around, and always will be by the grace of GW, so no
>>98155460the correct answer is probably both but if you HAD to pick just one, it's between a big gun that makes the rest of your shooting stronger and an even bigger gun that doesn't really have an equivalent anywhere else in the roster. cant go wrong with eitherthe exocrine is probably the strictly "better" pick but the tfex is a lot cooler, if a bit feast or famine
Why does he hate imperial fists so much? is it just to bait valrak?Space wolves and ultrasmurfs are the lame chapters

>>98159105>8th edition is now unc/boomer/grog Anon no please no.
>>98159130Are you using superglue, newfriend?
>>98159150No I bought the citadel plastic glue along with the paint and tool set and black primer
>>98159156You may have used too much of the plastic glue. It can take a long time for it to try and the melted plastic to harden again if you use too much
>>98159156Plastic glue is what I use and generally recommend, just in future stay away from citadel hobby products, they're both more expensive and yet worse than other companies' stuff. If you're finding it fiddly to keep pieces glued together, put a bit of plastic glue (small bit, if you go overboard it'll spill out and melt your model when pieces are pressed together) on each side of the join, let it sit for a short while. The glue will start melting down the plastic, then when you press the pieces together they instantly start bonding together and should be somewhat firm within moments. Then leave those pieces aside as you work on something else to fully set.
>>98159110uh oh larper melty
>>98156354Yes, it sucks. There is a reason they released a smaller thinner square edged ceramic blade that fits in a design knife handle. That also chips easier but at least it might be usable. It is cool looking, but the steep bevel on the thick blade makes it a gouge happy meme, and really only useful for scaping big flat planes on mecha models. Save your money.

>>98159166Marinepiggy with no arguement.
>>98159156Yeah like the other guy said, put a small bit of the plastic glue on both sides and just let it sit for a minute or two before joining them together. The pre-dissolved plastic knits together straight away and you don't have to hold the join manually for anywhere near as long.
As an aspiring Marine pig, what units are always useful to have regardless of exition? How much of the new starter box stuff realistically would you ever use in a competitive list?
>>98159254Nothing beats having 3 units of intercessors. Being able to toss out 40 dice on shooting, then 30 dice in melee(you packed them tightly to respond to being charged) and maybe 40 dice on overwatch, that's 110 dice tossed by a single 160 point unit with CP use. Three of them is enough to wipe out a 240 gaunt horde if used right.Just let the wounded gaunt units charge into melee so you don't have to split fire and shoot less dice because of their special rule.40 shots standing still is about 20 dead gaunts a turn. One unit can wipe 60 gaunts before they die off if left alone. With support (like a dreadnought stopping them from being surrounded/piled onto) they can pile melee attacks in at 3 attacks each. Which in older editions having over 2 attacks a model was khorne berzerker tier. IDK why they were allowed 3 melee attacks each.
>>98157604The exact text in the rules for Take To The Skies is:>Ignore all vertical distance for the purposes of how far it has movedThe exact text for Heavy is:>No model in that unit has moved morethan 3" this turnThat sounds to me like all vertical distance is counted as 0" until the end of the turn.
>>98157637This. Also you get GW taking what should be a standard unit leader and turning them into a unique piece. Why do I have to run an ugly dude holding an ork head if I want a champion for my Cthonian Beserks? Why can't I run a regular Fireblade in my Pathfinder squads?

What's stopping GW from expanding upon other Chapters, Warbands, Orders, etc that aren't the main ones?
>>98159030A weapon with the [HEAVY] keyword is one that benefits from being braced or left stationary in some way. Obviously a knight has no need to brace its guns and can remain mobile while firing. That said, I would love a knight with a huge fuck off two-handed cannon that had to be planted into the ground to actually fire

>>98159550After the first founding chapters get expanded to have a bunch of extra units and there are no more kits to update then they'll be forced to make new shit. We're going to get there by the end of this edition, predicited GK refresh, Salamanders expansion, whatever new unit they have planned for SW and each of the monogod factions. How to fix 40K:>Imperium: Remove all Primarchs. Having things be about Primarch power levels is shit. At the very least, don't add any more>Chaos: Have the Warp just be a magical emotion dimension that drives you crazy and shits out daemons with no scheming gods (though people might believe there are)>Tyranids: Have them be the only existential threat>Tau: Focus them on the 'alliance of many races' element instead of Gundam; add units of humans and weirdo races that don't justify an army for themselves>Orks: Remove Snakebites and 'gross animal' stuff from them, make them purely about ramshackle Mad Max technology and looted weapons. If you need a 'primitive animal-user' faction, have it be Exodites>Votann: Focus on the rune magic-using psykers and 'repurposed mining equipment' elements>Sisters: Add more 'magical faith daemons that look like angels' like Celestine as more normal units>Thousand Sons: Make every unit a psyker with psychic powers (or a daemon)>Grey Knights, Deathwatch, Imperial Knights, Imperial Agents, Harlequins, Chaos Daemons: Make them just allied units for any Imperial/Eldar/Chaos army>Chaos Knights: Cut them entirely
Votann need giant drills.
