thats not a question
Favorite model I own, or just favorite model?
>>98184311My exterminatus hand is acting up!
>>98184311>TQThere should be more whip wielders in 40K. The Deldar shouldn’t hog all the fun.
>>98184324>what’s your favorite model you painted you’re willing to show off? better?
I miss this box aesthetic
I like orks :D
>>98184348yes
>>98184350could be worse, at least it isn’t like midhammer boxes which took place in THE VOID.
>>98184311>TQThis guy and his crew
>>98184357good, now with that cleared up…what’s your favorite model you painted you’re willing to show off?
>>98184374Anything on my Instagram.
>>98184311>TQI love this sculpt so much
>>98184350Same, I think it's charming to show the models plainly.
>>98184398please tell me that’s a shoe and therefore foot. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
>>98184417No, it's a wooden spoon for whipping my subs.
>>98184374only thing ive got on hand is an ogre slaughtermaster. Is fantasy kosher
>>98184417Fucking retard
These threads feel slower and deader than ever lately, I honestly think 11th hype is not at the levels of previous editions.
>>98184422I was going to ask if you mean sub as in submissive people or subs as in subscribers if you're a streamer, but then I realized there's no difference, and the question was redundant.
>>98184350I miss that brief period when they used to ape historical model kit box design, it added to the feel of the game being just another historical re-enactment wargame but for a fictional war that hasn't happened yet.
How is cadian fleshtone in terms of plaint quality compared to similar paints? I want AK Beige Red but it's out of stock. TTC Dwarven Skin is also a good substitute but it seems to have worse coverage.
>>98184440This, the boxes with art on them were the fucking best
>>98184440>feel of the game being just another historical re-enactment wargame but for a fictional war that hasn't happened yetI read a post in this general once that posited that all the 3rd ed era codexes art being in scratchy black and white and most of the fluff being written as in-universe documents made it feel like you were someone from year 50k discovering archaeological remains of a dead civilization from ten thousand years ago and I've never gotten that out of my head, it was so fitting.
New points when?
>>98184374I kind of have to say my most ambitious scratch build project is my favorite.>Chinork Warkopta and Kill Tank were re-added to LegendsOh hey, models really are forever.
What the fuck am I supposed to do as Eldar? Aspect Host is dead and I don't want to fucking play with clowns.
>>98184459No idea kek I have an aspect warrior army and my group mainly plays 1k not 2k
>>98184434It isn't. People have realized that 11th is just barely 10.5 and not a lot will change on gameplay, so the people bored with 10th will be just as bored with 11th.
>>981844592DP seer council opens lots of options.Harlequins and Ynnari might also be legitimately good now with vehicles builds.
>>98184434Really, it's that the lolcow has gone. So those who came here primarily for lolcow drama have no hook anymore, while those driven off by that drama haven't yet returned.
>>98184483>So those who came here primarily for lolcow drama have no hook anymorethat has to be the saddest sentence I’ve ever read.
Let Chaos Idols take this thread!
>>98184465that's me. I was just checking whether they re-added point costs for equipment or at least custom squad sizes. As far as I know they didn't so I couldn't rekindle real interest in the edition
>>98184455on edition release, so probably same as box launch.
>>98184489Wasn't exactly a joy to write it, either. Still, only up from here.
How'd I do on this guy? I know i gotta go over and touchup some stuff but I think the shading went mostly ok. I'll do base stuff after I get everyone else finished
>>98184516why is he a salamander?
>>98184539Wanted to try and mix up the skin tones of my shock troops to add some variety
>>98184516Well enough, you've kept everything pretty well inside the lines. Nothing fancy but it's good for a beginner. Maybe think about highlighting for a next step in learning techniques, then glazing after that.
>>98184516I think the shading on the clothing needs to be a bit darker, and highlights still needto need to be done, but as a simple basecoat it looks great.
>>98184559Yeah I still need to learn to do that... I tried to mix up some on the shoulderpads and helmet, but it doesn't really show up here.>>98184564My current shades are Seraphim Sepia for the BDU and bags, Nuln oil for the lasgun and boots, earthshade for the armor. Then flesh shader on the skinI think I could go over some of the BDU pockets with a light tan just to highlight some stuff though and maybe give it some depth, I'll try that.
I'm not thrilled about Tau detachments. Unironically liked 9E better. You know, back when Enclaves could still take fusion blades.
>>98184558Dumb, you are a faggot
Do the new and old drop pods have the same size? I want to buy the old one instead of the new one for the sake of transport ease
>guy doomposting at the LGS because he can't mix and match because his "main" is 3dpyou could be brave....and not play gladius....
>>98184583It's good, learning to keep from spilling over onto neighbouring bits is an important early step so well done. Highlighting can be tricky at first, if it looks too thick/blobby you can go back with the flat colour and cover where the highlight strayed too far from the edge, sort of being it back that way.
>>98184588I do not understand the idea of taking out one of the most iconic and fan favorite enhancements. I never used it, but I think gw is retarded for axing it.
>>98184583Oh, and for photos I'd move the camera back a little and use the zoom, rather than having the camera physically up quite so close. That helps keep the whole model in focus.
>>98184311>tqthere's only one model that could have that place in my heart
>>98184611I'll look at some vids I'll try not to feel too mogged with all these other models dabbing on my guys lmao>>98184626Will do, thanks everyone!
>>98184591Now that primaris can ride in drop pods, which primaris squad deploy in one? I'm assuming Primaris can ride drop pods, it's been like 10 years already
>>98184603Orbital Assault Force chads rise up
>>98184626not him but on the topic of photos. I post models frequently, but I’ve noticed every time I post them, it always ends up looking really dark and some details are too dark to see. I’ve set up a shitty little lightbox and two massive white bulbs to shine in, but it always seems to have the same issue. is there something I’m doing wrong?
>>98184651I assume you had a stroke after the comma, but I’m thinking either helbladters, infernus, or stern guard out of mine for maximum trollage
>>98184637Getting better is a big part of the fun. You'll get to put old models next to new ones and see the hard evidence of your skill up. Feels good man.
>>98184661I've been doing BGV + judiciar in my drop pod but don't know if I want to deal with the risk of charging now that FF is going away
>>98184626>>98184655here’s a photo of the model up close as well.
>>98184668Your phone camera is probably using an automatic dim setting for bright lights, which kind of defeats the purpose for photographing in a lightbox.
>>98184637two tips of advice i can give you.Wit highlights. less is more, you don't need much to get a good result. and you don't have to highlight every edge, you can focus mainly on the top edges. second ,This may not be a case with you, but for me two other things that I found helpful equipment wise are. 1. Brushes, i found that getting a brush that was a size or two bigger than I thought i needed was actually better for me, (a bigger brush can hold more paint and medium and it dries out slower, What's more important for fine detail is not brush size, but rather the ability of a brush to form and keep a tip.and2. A wet pallet, if nothing else than it was a way to keep my paint from drying out too fast. They're not hard to make, my first wet pallet was a plastic lunch tuperware like container with a paper towel folded on the bottom and a square of parchment paper cut to fit the container perfectly, and then just enough water until the paper towel was soaked and some water could bead through the parchment. That said I did invest in an actual wet pallet eventually, but the dyi one was quick easy and something that you could easily make with a trip to a regular grocer and for less than 10 bucks you have enough parchment paper and paper towel to last your wet pallet for life.
>>98184494Has she shown any interest in 40k at all. Biboo and Mori are the only ones I've seen.
>>98184661I swear I totally wrote "which squads SHOULD I deploy in one", and the phone just ate my words. I blame ai genies for this possibly unrelated thing.
>>98184655If you're doing a whole light box you've put more effort in than me lmao. I have a kind of long-bar lamp on a bendy neck for painting, and I bend that over for photos so there's light coming in from the top and bottom. Pic shows it.Plus I turn on every light I can find in the room for as much ambient as possible. Then I use as much mechanical zoom as I can, but no digital zoom.
>>98184682I don't normally go in for vtubers, but the tyranid-enjoying hag is fun and she likes warhammer
>>98184617>>98184588In-fluff the Ethereals are trying to retcon Farsight and bury his history. That's why the Fusion Blades and the Talisman if Arthas Moloch (that nobody used) are gone from the game
>>98184694Ain't this a pokemon? Ultra beast roach or something
>>98184583A quick and easy highlight method for beginners, is after doing shading, just use a 50/50 mix of your base color and white. it gives you a highlight color, and its an easy ratio to remember, and for highlights you really don't need more than a dab of both colors, and its better especially when starting out than committing to a ton of paints that you might not actually use a lot of.
>>98184696retarded since you can run farsight armies. And fusion blades is perfectly on brand for farsight. if you wanted to make a Dogmatic vs Idealist divide in tau detachments then you could have easily used their keyword system to do it. Though knowing how GW operates I wouldn't be surprised if the melta spacemarine unit gets melta blades as an enhancement since the usual pattern of xenos getting cool rules, is the next edition strips those rules from the xenos faction and gives them to marines.
>>98184694She's a slav and therefore genetically predisposed to liking 40k.
Ive got a bunch of metal aspect warriors are they worth anything?
>>98184672well, I tried fixing it in the settings, and it seems he’s only a little bit less dark, so I’ll have to come back to it. though I did decide to take him outside the lightbox, and he actually looks pretty nice, so I think until I figure out how to do it in the lightbox, I’ll just stick to posting minis next to a wall.>>98184692perspective looks like a big giant looming over some poor scared necrons.
>>98184749If you have a piece of paper and a lamp you have a lightbox. This is how I (>>98184636) take my photos and they usually turn out OK
>>98184749Maybe try bringing one of the lamps down to shine in from the side? There's a lot of light from the top, but everything not directly hit by that top-down beam is going to look a lot darker by comparison. Then your camera presumably tries to even it out and darkens the whole lot to make up for the stark white bits.Might not work but it's a thought.
Got some paint on wazdakka tonight as promised. Actually made good progress, just gotta do some freehanding (or use the stampin' kits I bought) and finish washing up and highlighting the blue.Actually hang on, I forgot the grot. Gotta finish that lil dude too.
>>98184311I think i gonna go with right colour scheme but add yellow to the postules and boils
>>98184749>big giant looming over some poor scared necronsPoor things, they're 'armless
>>98184797really like your leather anon
The Votann are the most communist faction in the game if you think about it.
>>98184818They are legos
>>98184818No they aren'tThey violate plenty of Marx's tenets, enough to get called "not real communism" by the actual enthusiastic commies. It's almost as if Communism is retarded and can't function in a society run by actual sapient beings without breaking most of its rules.
>... Callidus shapeshifted as an Eldar means it's still technically human, so having sex with her isn't fucking a xenos, which means it's not heretical...
>>98184807Thanks dude, leather is a fun material because you can be extremely dirty with your highlights and washes and it'll still look pretty authentic. Very simple yet fun material to paint. All that is is some brown with thick light brown highlights, washed with agrax and not cleaned up afterwards.
>>98184818Isn't GSC the commies?
>>98184712Your scenario is worse, so, it might be more accurate.
>>98184818>>98184859there is only one true low class revolution worth to dig in in this setting...
>>98184859No they're just the oppressed worker revolution

>The only named Harlequin character in the franchise is a Sisters unit>A male xenos can benefit from Sisters faith powers>He can even be the warlord of a Sisters army???
>>98184859The cool ones are lovecraftian witch cults.
>>98184311Is it weird if I don't have a favorite model? It really depends on the day.
>>98184893well whats your model of the day?
>>98184692>>98184672>>98184773>>98184787well I tried messing with it, but I think I’ll call it off for tonight, and try it when I’m not half asleep. thanks for the help anons, and good night.
>>98184311My favorite model is often and currently my newest, which isn’t GW table kosher
>>98184347Whips have a high chance of breaking and they always have tons of sprue gates you need to clean.
>>98184920I painted up a Parasite of Mortrex that came out breddy gud. I don't have it on me at the moment though.Sucker's top heavy though.
>>98184891I mean I'd say she is the warlord and he's just her bodyguard but any ability that triggers off of destroying the warlord doesn't trigger if she dies but not him.
>>98184686>I blame ai geniesSo true
>>98184682Irys also played SM2 with Biboo and Callie but I doubt she'd get into the minis. Biboo and Callie are both so Blood Angels coded it's ridiculous.Of the others:Gigi - Orks and would have the only tourneyfag list.Ceci - Tau or AdMech. Whichever gives her more opportunities to complain about the codex.Kronii - Craftworld Eldar or Harlequins.Kiara - Sisters of BattleERB - UltramarinesNerissa - Would borrow her dad's 4th edition Catachan army.FWMC - World Eaters
Dark Eldar refresh is coming. I can feel it.
>>98184994>Immerhater>TauI don't know. I feel like Necrons would be better.>robots who are secretly also comedy faction, and actually get shit done unlike AdmechBad end, she takes Votann because automata and doesn't realize what she's missing.>ERB - Ultramarines>FWMC - World EatersI laughed at both of these.
My favorite model is the goofy kitbashes I made with my friend, I'm using one as a skitari marshal proxy and the other as a serberys raider proxyanyone have experience with tabletop simulator for 40k or vassal 40k? Are they worth it for playing games with my friends online which one is superior?
>>98185014If you're good at kitbashing or sculpting it would be surprising if your favorite model was a standard one in 2026. You can make it to your own taste, which is probably better than the taste of some of the sculptors.
I've never emailed Jew Dubs about a damn thing but today I've emailed them as to why the rules for Eldar titans are still missing despite not only having points values but also having pages listed for them on their faction pack.Fucking cunts. At least have the balls to tell me to fuck myself instead of pussyfooting around. Can any other knife-eared faggots here back me up?
>>98184891BEC
>>98184994Fauna - SoB. Because at first you think they're celibate, but the you read they're lore and find out there's nothing stopping them from marrying
>>98185024I'm a burger eldarfag so I doubt they'll listen to anything I have to say. what those bastards SHOULD do in addition to giving you titan rules is bringing back all the forgeworld units in plastic, because holy fuck why would they legends the wraithseer and any number of eldar specialist tanks and superheavies?
Can farseers and warlocks join aspect warriors yet?
Any tips on painting black marble?
>>98185118I took the 5 seconds to look up if they can or cannot, I will not share this knowledge.
Any hot takes from the Deldar or Tyranidfags in thread about the revealed rules?
Blood Axes are clearly the most dangerous type of Ork. They're the only ones to understand camouflage, ambushes, tactical retreats, and coordinating a battle plan in advance. If you're like a Tau commander, you're laughing at any ork except these ones.
>>98185187buncha kowardly gitz and imperial bootlickaz da lot of em
Does everyone agree with this list? Because I made it a while ago.
it doesn't need to be a tier list if everything below S is>they are notit could just be "orcs like to fight these factions"
>>98184994Mori bought the BA Combat Patrol
>You get 2 DP in 1,000 point games and 3 DP at 2,000 pointsWhy exclude certain detachments from 1,000 point games? Do tourneyfags even play 1,000 points?
>>98185301they don't even balance the game around 1,000 points so i have no idea what the point is.maybe if they make 1000 point games bullshit, they can force everyone into playing 2,000 point games where they're going to put all their effort?
>>98185255Needs Emperor's Children but looks right to me.
>>98184682many of the earlier holoEN girls are boring and not very entertaining because Omega, a manager (or managers) in charge of hiring was trying to draw from a 'pool of diverse talents' which included many girls who either didn't like streaming at all or who got into it purely because they heard pewdiepie made a lot of money, but were not good entertainers themselves (early adopters of vtuber tech). Ironically, most of these boring wallflowers ended up graduating too. later generations included native streamers and entertainers and tend to have more personality, but the organization itself seems to drag its feet on recruiting new talents.
>>98185301I imagine most people playing 1k games will just ignore the restriction. It seems pretty poorly thought out on GW's part, but then again what isn't?

Why do we never see Eldar losing control of their psychic powers the way humans do? I know that Eldar are inherently more psychic, but surely it still happens sometimes.
>>98185449They do. Look up Corsair psyker rules from FW. They don't bother with the protections that the Craftworlders use
>>98185449They are trained from birth to control it and their minds simply don't function the same way as humans. Seers also use things like runes and ghost helms to protect them from raw-dogging contact with the warp the way human psykers do.
>>98185449I don't know smelldar lore well enough to know if this has been directly addressed in 40K, but I believe it's a carry over from Fantasy. WHF elfs have been doing magic for so long and become such masters at it they can subscribe to and use multiple winds of magic while humans can only ever do one, they have also honed the art to a degree that a typical elven magic user will not suffer any perils. I have to assume it's much the same situation in 40K, eldar are all attuned to the warp and been practising psychic powers for so long, they're essentially casting on "fettered" mode all the time.
Picked the Armageddon box mostly because of orks but I guess I now also serve BigE and have a little primaris force on the side. Don't plan to get much more, at least not until I'll decide on which chapter to paint them, but I have a question for space marines players: from the starter point that the Armageddon box is, which other models would be good addictions to a small (~1500 points) primaris force?
