Similar to how manga and comic books are a short form. CYOAs are not roleplay manuals and should not be the same length as them, just like comics and manga should not be the size of books. And you are making the core mechanics of the CYOA yourself, you make everything in the CYOA your self essentailly, graphic design, point value balance, everything except for the images. The images that you "steal" are for giving the viewer a visual representation of the world and the powers and options that are offered. I believe in the future AI art will replace all "stolen" art, but that's that. So in a way, the images build on your work. It is an addition.When you edit an existing CYOA. You don't have to do any of the hard work yourself. You get to piggyback on their work, and then you can add some new options here and there and call it a day. Now, unlike the "stolen" images the work that you add to the CYOA you stole builds on that work. Your work is an addition and cannot stand on its own. The work you put in is minimal in comparison to the work you stole. While a text-only CYOA with no images can stand on its own. That is the difference when it comes to stealing.
