Katherine requested to be taken as a bondswoman by the Hounds pretty much immediately, since the defeat completely disillusioned her to the Crusader mentality and Clan culture in general. After proving her loyalty in noncombat roles, Katherine was given the opportunity to pilot her old Shadow Cat, restored with the help of Wolf-in-Exile. Over time, she works her way up to lieutenant, and eventually captain; she now commands a company in Second Regiment. When her subordinates discovered (against her wishes) that she was bloodnamed, they immediately began bragging about it, and the command has since been known (against her wishes) as Pryde Company. >inb4 someone doesn't get the reference and says something stupid>>98213859Sounds pretty cool. >>98213597>>98213899When you look at the general price curve of their boxes compared to model count, I'm >95% sure that the biggest reason they don't comes down to shipping costs. Like there's some difference from the amount of plastic or models inside, but the biggest correlation by far of price for their models comes down to the size of the box - with the smaller the box the less efficient per model the price is. If they tried to sell singleton boxes, I'd bet money that whoever they're using for shipping would charge enough that when combined with the tariffs they have to pay for the chinese-based manufacturing, they'd be something like $20 or even $25 a model.Like their website prices are dogshit compared to what you can get at game stores (seen LGS prices be like 25% lower), but even on that thing, you can easily go from $35 for the small Lance of 4 models ($8.75/model) to for their Clan Star and Legendary Mech Warriors $40 for 5 ($8/model) to the Proliferation Cycle's $50 for 7 models and also code for a $5 book (functionally $6.42/model after subtracting the book). It clearly not the plastic holding them back but dogshit logistics. Something that would be way more pronounced, something which would be way more pronounced with singleton models which is why they said what >>98213818 anon said about them not offering singletons but leaving that in Iron Wind Metals hands.
One thing I do like about the Battletech setting is how women's rights have greatly regressed, mostly in the Draconis Combine but also on a lot of the semi-industrial feudal shithole planets in places like the FedSuns that are back to 20th century or earlier levels of tech

>>98215858The TSM whispers to me and says I should hit you in the mouth with this slab of metal.

>>98215579being dead
>>98215901Back when they rolled on the punch table, you actually could.
>>98215932The problem really is that kicks are insanely overpowered. A -2 hit modifier with a chance to knock over (nearly 100% against mechs two size categories down) is absurd.
>>98215950You mean like you can right now, page 146 of Total Warfare?"Alternatively, when the controlling player announces the... attack... use the Punch or Kick Hit Location Table... Apply a +4 modifier in addition to all standard modifiers."Works with Hatchets, Retractable Blades and Swords.
>>98215961Being fair, you're using probably the most powerful assembly of myomer on the mech to assault another mech. It makes sense that a light mech would be on its ass when a heavy mech spartan kicks it center mass.
>>98216007A +4 modifier is pretty harsh.
Why is battletech the only mech game alive on /tg/? I know people dont like lancer because gay utopia setting so that makes sense. But no other mech RPGs?
Fight me.
>>98216066Granted, with hatchet you get -2 to TN so you're basically rolling PSR with +2, which is doable (it's the same penalty as shooting at medium range, which is the most common range for shooting due to most weapons have very small short-range band).
>>98216071Oh fuck this is a wargame thread. Disregard.
>>98215961It's not even merely kicks being overpowered, it's that kicks basically have no limitations placed on them, while virtually every other melee attack does. Having spent a turn running doesn't impede kicking for some reason, but firing a small laser in the arm disallows punching/hatcheting/whathaveyou.The whole system needs a rewrite. Buffing melee weapons by themselves won't be enough.
>>98216095Technically firing leg weapons does disable kicks, but uhhhh... Crusader? That one primitive mech with the exploding knee MGs? Not much has leg weapons.
>>98216114Oh no my Wasp can't use its SRM2 on a kick. This is a true tragedy.Legs in general feel like a bit of a mechbuilding waste, especially when DHS comes into play. Them being so limited in space isn't bad or anything but what the fuck are you going to put in there?
>>98216007Yeah good luck hitting that called shot modifier, assuming your opponent even lets you use alternate rules.
>>98216177The essential, bulky and more forcefully myomer that keeps you upright and moving, as opposed to the lighter arm components which are not required to bear the full weight of the mech? It makes perfect sense that legs are quite limited in this regard. They're already very much preoccupied with their primary duty.
>>98216050I mean sure, but the fiction needs to serve the game, not the other way around. As it stands, kicks are just the most overpowered close-range attack; there's never a reason to use another melee weapon unless you have TSM or the target already has taken head hits. This is a problem for tactical depth.>>98216071People DO like Lancer, they just don't bother talking about it anymore because of the inevitable shitting up of their threads by people who don't even play the game.Contrary to popular belief, /tg/ isn't /pol/.
>>98216177One CERPPC per leg.Make a retarded quad hellstar.
>>98216212They're not really alternative rules, they're listed directly on the physical weapon table. If you hit you have a 1 in 6 shot of instantly destroying a mech depending on tonnage and TSM. I think that kind of difficulty is justified for that kind of payout.
>>98216343That "if you hit" is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Kicking at -2 and getting a better-than-1-in-6 chance of knocking over the target is usually better than axing at +2. Due to the steep 2d6 curve, the accuracy difference is enormous.I like melee weapons as much as anyone (one of the first mechs I painted and keep fielding is an Axman) but it's true that they're very limited in their use case, and aiming for the head is basically never worth it.
>>98216317Preview of the next TR by the way.
>>98216382Here's the errata where I didn't forget to allocate like six tons of armor.
>>98215961Wrong. The kick is what keeps the light mech from pulling MWO retard shit on the tabletop.
>>98216395Well, that, and tarcomps, pulse weapons, lbx, short range bonuses, and so forth. Target moved penalties aren't actually debilitating unless you're trying to shoot aircraft.
>>98216395You prevent that retard shit in MWO by shooting them because your aim isn't controlled by dice rolls. And it's not like anything besides another light in TT is ever going to reasonably be in kicking range of a light anyway. A light that loses initiative isn't just going to sit in a hex you can move adjecent to for a kick, and a light that won initiative is going to run to your biped's rear arc if he wants and without closing to melee if it's a quad.
Thinking of a small project, I always like mechs with shoulder guns and I like heavy cavalry/striker mechs so why not combine them and turn those big shoulders of the archer as bins for storing ultra autocannon ammo?Left is the base variant and right is a clan refit, gist being move fast and keep shooting. Mostly heat neutral, although the clan version will struggle at keeping heat neutral when its moving due to the bigger guns. Design plan is to pretty much remove the missile pods and stick in some autocannons, trying to make the former pod look sort of like a giant gear for elevating and depressing the guns like the blood asp's shoulder guns.
>>98216507Did that flea just tank like 8 gauss rifle shots?
>>98216728Armor is doubled in MWO and everyone maxes it out.
>>98216728It's C-Gauss, which appears to be cluster gauss based on the number of projectiles fired.
>>98216728Base structure values and maximum armor values are significantly increased in MWO compared to TT, quirks and pilot skills can increase them further. The first gauss rifle shot instantly destroyed its leg. Destruction of a single leg is not fatal because that would create an extremely cancerous and stupid leg meta in a competitive multiplayer game where players control where they shoot. The second pair of shots immediately destroyed its side torso and it lived because it wasn't using an ISXL.The next to pairs of shots go into the destroyed side torso which eventually destroy the CT but damage that bleeds through destroyed components is significantly reduced unlike TT.There's a lot more shooting in MWO but it still ends up being much faster than TT. Consider that clip takes place in the span of a single TT turn worth of time.>>98216751Cgauss fires single projectiles, what looks like additional projectiles is just the discarding sabot partially disintegrating.

Battalion: 36 mechs or 40 mechs? I'm trying to expand my company and it's kind of a big deal for me now
>>98216991Literally up to you. Sometimes they have a separate command lance, sometimes they don't.
>>98216082>with hatchet you get -2 to TNSword you mean?
>>9821699140 if you want a floating command lance.
>>98217005>>98217009my problem with 40 is that a fucking overlord is 36 mechs max for some reason
>>98217014I suppose this tells us that whoever designed the Overlord intended it for battalions without a floating command lance.
>>98217030Command lance is too fancy to be in the Overlord with the rest of the plebs. They have their own, fancier dropship with sparkling wine, cigars, blackjack (not the mech) and hookers.
I’m reading the IlClan battle for Terra for the first time, and is it made clear elsewhere that Alaric is a cunt who brought the rabid dog of the clans to Terra so that he’d look like a saint in comparison? Not to mention bitching out the Highlanders by pulling the “kill me and my wolves will completely disregard the rules of our trial” gameplan. Why’s he such an immense cunt?
>>98217039Makes enough sense, Overlord is for the battalion, Leopard or something is for the commander and his staff officers. Overall though that would be a matter of integrated resources if any exist. Could have a commander sitting in a base or leading his own lance or simply be the most senior company commander.
>>98217057>Spheroid breaks the rules of engagement>Wow he is so clever and cunning>Clanner breaks the rules of engagement>Wow why is he suck an immense cunt? It's his spheroid Steiner-Davion genes.
>>98217030Or intended for the tip of the spear to be in something more aggressive like a Leopard or Union with the Overlord holding "most" of the Battalion. The main use case for Leopards and Confederates before a bunch for tramp mercenaries got a hold of them was to insert your nastiest headhunters behind the lines or your biggest brawlers directly into the front line. And the Star League was ready to have as many jumpships as it took to get whatever they wanted wherever they wanted it.
>>98217066More likely the command lance displaces some kind of advance or scout unit that rides in a leopard.
IIRC, Battalions are also where you start to get a bunch of attached elements like artillery and medical teams. And then with that many people you need logistics chains and maybe engineers to build a fire base and probably some extra infantry just for security and who knows how many dropships full of spare parts and ammo, and so on.
>>98216728Yes. Thanks to mwo being coded by giant retards, the faster you move, the less the game bothers to even resolve collisions and hits. Which is why a flea effectively has triple the armour of an atlas. You can hit a flea with srm60 and the games netcode serverside will just delete 30-40 of those srms Its just especially egregious with massive damage single hit weapons like goose.
>>98217039Why not the mech? Ilclan era gives us mass produced blackjack C. Two clpl and 2 cssrm4. Fucking beautiful.
>>98217221They did an event to see if that was true and it was full of shit. Try aiming and using Artemis or switch to Streaks instead of bitching about it in the wrong thread.
Do we have any knowledge of whether the Smoke Jaguars went back to their own colours or still wear the Fidelis scheme in the Ilclan era?
>>98217221The flea was not even moving fast enough for that to be the case even if it were true. The reason shots that appear to hit clientside and seemingly do no damage on fast moving targets is because the game has no lag compensation and all target hit indicators are clientside, only certain confirmations like component destroyed or kills or assists check with the server and give you a definite clientside confirmation something happened.
I didn't realize the metal Yeoman is a single piece model. Seeing it just squared up like that in the packaging is tickling my funny bone.
>>98215950Going back to the games original ruleset, physical attacks have specified if they use a hit location table other than the standard one. Club attacks have never been on the punch table, and hatchets have counted as club attacks since their rules introduction in the Compendium in 1990. The punch table hatchet is just a persistent misapprehension. The only changes have been for targets on different elevations, also added in the Compendium, and adding the aim high/low rule for physical weapons in Total Warfare in 2006.

>>98217606I can see you have not spent much time in Atlanta.
I played aerospace a couple weeks ago and it seemed fairly simple to me. But it was an actual deep space game, so maybe atmosphere and having ground underneath you fucks it all up. But space movement and shooting is fine. Fucking around with thrust and velocity makes movement interesting and shooting is actually a lot simpler than it is for ground units. Range brackets are all shared and cluster rolls aren't a thing, you just do damage based on if you rolled a 7 on the cluster chart.

Is there truly any hope that Clan Main Character will get pushed out of the spotlight and someone else will take Terra? I’m a Marik fan but I don’t care who wins, I just want to see Clan Wolf lose.
>>98218355As evidenced by Sun-Tzu, there's always a chance, but you need a writer to like the character in question.
>>98217867If the 3rd Star League actually establishes itself as a legitimate superpower in the IS and doesn’t just hang on as a rump state, I could see a particularly hungry first lord sending an expedition to subjugate the home clans and get the bragging rights of holding both Terra and Strana Mechty. It would be kind of interesting if this resulted in colonization attempts for the systems in between, to try and make a more sustainable corridor by which Clan Space and the IS can be reliably connected. And if the 3SL then collapses, the systems making up that corridor would be in a very interesting position. They could essentially become battletech’s Silk Road, facilitating trade in tech and materials between the clans and the IS..

I'm planning out my Ilclan-era army. Going to be playing SLDF. I'm thinking of having the bulk of my SLDF be Inner Sphere mechs, laid out in Lances, with a single Star of Clan Omnimechs painted up as either Smoke Jaguars, Jade Falcons or Snow Ravens, acting in support/serving as the elite core of the force. I'm going to have a single Clan Wolf warrior leading them, piloting something powerful like a Timber Wolf, Savage Wolf or Warhawk/Masakari.So basically:Bulk of force is SLDF soldiers.Single Star of elite Clan Warriors acting in support.Single Clan Wolf mech piloted by the overall commander/leader of the force. I think this'll work and be fairly interesting.

Someone upload the unabridged audiobook of Wolves on the Border plz.
A novel where a lance is stranded on a backwater and they're being hunted by an elite mixed cappy lance of mechs and ba. They're sporting some really niche tech and the protagonists are both undergunned and comically racist. The climax is a fist fight in Chad McProtagonist's cockpit as a badly damaged BA claws through the canopy at him and he stabs the exposed BA in the face with his fucksleeve's kabar. He yells ARRRGHHH, sets his reactor to blow, and sneaks into the cappy base camp to steal one of their mechs. War crimes ensue. Sun rises on a bloodied, oil stained sole survivor. That song from the end of Mortal Kombat plays. Mechs appear on the horizon... but they're not friendly. Protag McThundercock is bringing the fight to the Caps in their own machine. And this time, it's personal.
I love IndustrialMechs :D

Would a Clan Warrior use an Ares or Poseidon? Both require a crew of three to pilot it, two mechwarriors and an engineer. Ergo, any honor or glory earned would not belong to a single warrior. Would the Clans hate this idea and assign these mechs only to Freebirths? Some vehicles, like the Carnivore Assault Tank, require multiple people to operate and in Hour of the Wolf it seems like any glory earned or honorable deed carried out is shared by each member of the crew, so would an Ares be the same? I really want a Jade Falcon Ares but I'm not sure how it'd work in a Clan touman.

>>98219021>where dozens of different groups have decided to base their entire society around imitating a historic polity and then never changeThis list seem to start at "K" end at "M". It also contains exactly two entries. It took 6 - 8 months for Stone's Coalition to defeat the Word of Blake. It took 3 for the Clans to defeat the Republic of the Sphere. Therefore, it has been proven the Word was superior to Stone's Dream.Lmao eat shit Republicans.
>>98219221I mean, if you only count Terra. Stone's Coalition was liberating worlds at the edge of the Word of Blake Protectorate 3 years before Operation Scour's push and liberation of Terra and there's several events in the Jihad that predate all of that, while stuff like the leadup to the Fortress Republic and the Wall cause their own odd calculations.

Especially with the collapse of HPGs in Grey Monday being something the Republic did with Clarion even when the Wobbies didn't do that in the Jihad.

Been catching up on some Lore, and I was wondering what your guys Favorite house is and why? I haven't played the table-top but I love MW5. Thematically I really like Steiner, but I hate how inept most of their personnel is due to nepotism, Their color-scheme is great too.Kurita is also sort of growing on me, their incorporation(subjugation) of Nordics make for some interesting diversity in their ranks, and I love that one dude you work with in Dragon's Gambit, he's so mad, and the VA does a great job of bringing him to life. >>98219592I like the Steiners and the Davions, but the sheer amount of glaze FedCom can get generally soured me on them and the component nations enough that I can't put them at the top. The Capellans and Liao weren't an area I was a fan of anyway, but all the plot armor they got due to being kicked in the dick early on soured me on them even more making them my least liked. Rassalhauge was generally created just to fall to the Clans so overall neutral on them. Draconis Combine and Kurita are assholes, but they're fun with their villainy so they place towards the top even if they can't claim the number 1.This overall puts the Free Worlds League and House Marik at the top for the Inner Sphere for me. They're roughly in that right mix of fucking up and getting wins that puts them in a good spot, though I do wish they'd get a couple more good ones. I don't want Capellan levels of plot armor, but after they got completely shattered. I get it was somewhat deserved for Thomas Marik/The Master being the key creator of the Jihad, but they still need to get a solid win after that beyond the ability to just exist again.
>>98219592The Lyrans train some great pilots; they're one of the factions that actually take military science semi-seriously. The nepotism applies mostly to the officers higher than captain, which is why they're similar to the Capellans in having skilled warriors executing shit plans. The great thing about the Lyrans is that they're the only successor nation smart enough to value peaceful leadership, but they're still not smart enough to clock that Katherine is a psychopath. Katrina and Melissa were legitimately the nicest Successor Lords in generations, though. The Combine is actually a lot more diverse than you resize. Actual Japanese people are a minority, with most Asian blood coming from China and Southeast Asia. Something like a third of the Combine, especially near the Davion border, are Indians, and the Combine also has the largest known Arab community (look up the Arkab Legions). And, as you say, all the Nordics near the Lyran border, though they tend to be the least ruly and keep trying to detect or declare independence. The Lyrans are my favorite "good guy" great house for being the most sane despite the corruption (they provide the highest standard of living and social benefits this side of the Taurian Concordat, AKA Redneck Switzerland). The Dracs are my favorite "bad guy" fashion, since they're comically evil but also have the sickest cosplay aesthetics with the whole "Imperial Japan samurai culture" thing. I have painted up both a force of Izanagi Warriors and Ghost Regiments (Yakuza). I never found a Lyran scheme I like, but I do have a force of Kell Hounds, which are basically the same thing anyway.

>>98219655Fuck the capellans now and forever. China sucks.
The Mad Cat MKII and Rakasha both come in that spot of you really want plastic kits, but damn if they don't look really similar to each other due to being Timber Wolf descendants. It sorta feels like you want them each to be the Timber Wolf-esque reps of their own boxes but Battletech isn't big enough for them to do that on a close enough timescale to satisfy people, especially with how long the wait already is.
>>98219837The Regent is a neat worldbuilding detail, since it was created by a collaboration of Lyrans and Leaguers, with the communication being facilitated by the Sharks. I get why it's being pushed as a symbol of the era, even if it's (literally, in-setting) a rehash of older concepts.I do think it's interesting that they're including a lot of Clan Invasion/Civil War-era mechs in the box, though. For a product ostensibly meant for the ilClan, it also helps pad out forces with popular 'mechs from much older eras.I guess they're hoping for players who like the 3060s to pick up the box, and then figure they might as well paint a force for the ilClan era as well.

There's no way that two fifth of humanity is fucking Germans and French.I wonder when this trend started. But by turning them all into the ethnicity associated with the dominant culture and then treating the nations as monolithic, they're increasing visible diversity at the cost of DECREASING the actual diversity of the setting.

>>98220026They removed the diversity they had only to try and shoehorn it in the most hamfisted way possible which typically is how most "diversity" approaches go these days.I still can't get over the Combine having a large section of Arab weebs which frankly is a statement that has aged like a fine wine.
Roughs for the draconic semi-portable, blazer and laser rifle.I really think lasers are the weapon that can actually do corner-shots, so all of them will get the equipment for it. Just the level of sophistication will naturally ...vary... across the IS, with the Kuritas getting the Chinese/Commie take. They aren't the ones who got the 80s "superior japanese electronics"-memes after all.The semi-portable got a Twin Reflex Camera screen for Aliens Smart Gun-style hip-fire from a gyro harness.
>>98220052Even worse, there is an over representation of Scots in Battletech! You got the German-Scots, Chinese-Scots, fucking Scots-Scots!
>>98220052What are English if not Germans who were infected by French?>>98220064Arabs, Israelis, and Latinos are the biggest weebs I've ever met in real life. Does anyone know where the Latinos ended up in the Sphere? North Mexicans ended up in the Trinity, but I don't know about the rest.
>>98219592>their incorporation(subjugation) of Nordics make for some interesting diversity in their ranksBro, they have Irish ninja clans and Tuareg-imitators.
>>98220068Looks a bit like the phaser rifles from the TNG films?>>98220076>Where did the latinos end up?All over the place. Know FWL had a contingent of Spanish speakers but not sure where from as I think they do have more of a Med influence.
>>98220061Sounds more like a lib dem voting anglo to me.
>>98219959>>98219986Yeah, the Combine have a particular vibe in a way that Liao has never achieved with the Space China direction >>98219906 anon has mentioned.

>>98219901>>98219837>>98220006Isn't the Regent/Awesomemann Shimmy's OC? And thus a product of these threads in some degenerate way?
>>98219135No Clan mechwarrior who passed his trial of position will touch that thing. But they are the elite and ideal, the five-ish percent of sibko cadets who make it. Washouts with a particularly developed skillset, say a god-like gunner who can't keep a 'mech upright and another who's the reverse, would probably take the second chance at being a warrior even over something like driving a tank.It certainly won't be glorious, but then again the Ares does not exactly fit with the Falcons' favored modes of warfare either. To Clan eyes it's a third-rate machine crewed by third-rate personnel doing slow, shitty jobs true Falcons are too fast and valuable for.
>>98220187I swear, this website is just as obsessed with celebrities as any normie, except that the celebrities are obscure and you hate them. Yes, the Regent is a hybrid, as explained in >>98219901. And it's a great bit of environmental storytelling, so I don't give a fuck who wrote it, but it's a good thing regardless.
>>98220179>>98219906The Cappies should lean into the Command&Conquer/Red Alert memes.
Clans are a bit cringe
>>98220330They're also kind of based.
>>98220255>I intend to escape to the place not yet corrupted by Davions, space!
>>98219135>Multi-user mechDo you think Hell’s Horses would be more likely to try using their Tankwarrior phenotype for this? They’re pretty used to working in crewed vehicles anyways, no?
>>98220596Possibly. Maybe tankwarrior-mechwarrior teaming.
Still waiting for a hells horses superheavy hovercraft for mongolmaxxing
>>98220661Alaric would shit himself

>>98220966They decided to have them job to two different nothingburger jade falcon remnants instead including the one led by merchants, completely destroying any sense of them being a credible threat to anyone.
>>98220966>>98221011The Horses were NEVER a threat to anyone, and anyone who thought differently was coping out of their mind. They have two shticks: tanks and failure.
>>98221073This. The Horses are a dumping ground for unit types that will be removed from play in the future.
>>98221073That's the issue. The idea of the star league "going to war" against Hell's Horses is a joke, you dont go to war a against a coughing baby.

what's a good hetzer refit?I've got a few configs and need opinions:1: ac20 replaced with a salvaged mrm40 with 4tons of ammo liberated from a Combine storage facility, a machine gun in a sponson turret on right and left side with a half ton of shared ammo2: ac20 replaced with 7 Rocket Launcher 20's
>>98221300Give it a B-Lazer
>>98221304binary or bombast?
>>98221258It looks like a sewage tube, which is a threat to septic tanks everywhere in the Federate Suns.
>>98221300cUAC20, XXL engine for 5/8 movement, 11 tons of vehicular stealth armor, light active probe.Costs merely twenty times as much as a baseline Hetzer.
>>98221331Bombast
>>98221336If people imagine that they require proper sewage and sanitation to live, they should just buy a ticket to the Lyran Commonwealth and leave the good, honest, hard-working citizens of the Federated Suns to live close to nature, as god (and their noble overlords) intended. We pay them enough for a ticket, right?
>>98221300It's not a Hetzer if it has more than one gun. Give it a TB20, Blazer, Snub+Cap, or a LVSP.

>>98221162Space habs are so underutilized in sci-fi.It feels like only Gundam of all things really has them in any significant number
>>98221258Would WoB drop them on planets though?
>>98221661You aren't going to bother with space habs when most of your planets have between one to three continents untouched by man.
>>98221728That's not realistic thoughever
>>98221683No, that's House propaganda and projection. My guess is that more than half of the shit WoB is accused of was Successor Houses doing but they had scape goat to blame everything for.
>>98221661>>98221728This. To my limited knowledge, Gundam doesn't have the wealth of real estate that the Spheroids are working with.
>>98221801Think about how much empty land there is on earth now, then remember that even very high population planets top out at half our numbers. There are plenty of planets with fewer people than a modern mid size country.
>>98221851Exactly. Most planets like the early English settlement in North America--a few farmers clustered together, and a mining company on the other side of the planet.
>>98221192He was saying this is what's going to happen and that everyone else was coping by denying it. You're retarded.
The space habitats just don't really matter to the plot. They're there though. The belters are entirely space based and there are places like Gulf Breeze.
>>98221998There's also places like Butte Hold :D

>>98218736Gotta say Comstar and the Word of Blake were done dirty being destroyed outright when shit like Smoke Jaguar and the Eridani Light Horse make a comeback so I always love hearing of remnants. Also implications of possible infighting are fun.As an aside, the guy who first proposed the questions I'm heavily leaning towards the "Death's Head Hussars" getting all bondsmaned. Gist of the aftermath currently being>Entire regiment with four "squadrons" each on different worlds>Can't make an escape with assets divided and Hanseatic League won't help them ditch them>Fight well, suffer over 70% casualties but end up as bondsmen>Scorpion Empire throws them all into a single cluster, the 11th Hussar Cluster "Death's Head">Keep some heraldry and outside of Scorpions to fill holes in the aerospace and battle armor roles pretty much no outsiders at first>Add a handful of bloodnames to the breeding program partially because former SLDF and good fighters, partially so they can stock the cluster with trueborns raised to believe in the Scorpion Empire and not a bunch of resentful outsiders and their freeborn kidsAlso due to background and the fact that I named the first gen members of the regiment after commanders of the 11th Armored Cavalry regiment the three bloodnames added to the breeding program are Abrams (One of Creighton Abrams' sons led the 11th ACAV), Patton (George S. Patton's son led the 11th ACAV), and Truscott (captured and integrated some Star Adders in a failed raid that canonically resulted in two clusters being annihilated).
>>98222155>Word of Blake were done dirty being destroyed outright when shit like Smoke Jaguar and the Eridani Light Horse make a comeback so I always love hearing of remnantsNeo-Blakists and Mot's Manei Domini still exist. Don't lose hope!
>The SRM-6 is upgraded to 3 x Streak SRM-2’s with a single ton of ammoWhy the hell is this an 'upgrade?'
>>98222166>Same damage>More likely to hit>Won't waste ammo on missesI mean it's practically a lateral move in practice, but there's at least justification.
>>98222166Depending on when it was written, that enables infernos.
>>98222174I dunno, for something like AC2 or SRM2 you'd want to waste ammo ASAP IMO
>>98222166Streaks and LB-Xs only had one variant each when they were added. Streak-6s were Clantech that were reverse engineered post-war.
>>98218870Falcons also exterminated their scientist caste. Only spheroid scientists were spared.
>>98222198I don't care when it was written. I care if it's good now.
>>982224383 streak 2s is much more reliable damage on target than 1 SRM 6. A lot of story happens between the IS getting streak 2s and them getting larger streaks.
Aside from the Jags and Turtle Bay, has anyone warcrimed the Dracs? Did Malvina ever attack the Combine?
>>98222010BUTTE HOLD SUNWON'T YOU COMEAND WASH AWAY THE RAINBUTTE HOLD SUNBUTTE HOLD SUN
>>98222166Battletech is not a very well designed ruleset is why.
>>98222489Sure, the entire first two succession wars, lots of Jihad stuff. The Snow Ravens bombed Galedon's cities and then captured refugees who were carrying a bioweapon that had been unleashed by earlier unrelated fighting, which then also reached An Ting and both worlds are dead now. Galedon would have been dead anyway since that bioweapon is the most powerful one ever made, but compounding a new war crime on top of a self-inflicted war crime doesn't reduce the number of war criminals.
>>98222489During the Jihad, the Ravens Exterminatus'd a whole planet after giving it a mere few days to evacuate. While it was in response to a (perceived) provocation, it was a huge overreaction.>>98222521Yeah, that's not how it's pronounced. Sorry, mate.
>>98222456Technically even 3 normal SRM2s is more reliable damage on a target than a single 6. Even discounting the fact that all three are unlikely to miss, meaning practically guaranteed damage every turn, the 2 cluster table is actually the best cluster table, where the average value is 1.417, or 70.8% of the max value. The 6 cluster table is only an average damage of 4, or 66.7%. Which, while minor, is still 4.25 average damage compared to 4, or a gain of 6.3% for the same weight. Is 6.3% extra damage worth the one extra crit slot? Probably, unless you're already full on slots from endo and fibrous and whatnot, especially since it protects from stray crits.
>>98222174>>98222166In addition to the introduction dates, 3 Streak-2s can be split between targets too; not that I fully recommend it. You also trade your cluster roll for 3 hit rolls. The results are:- Your pilot's gunnery decides the number of hits and never gets fucked on cluster, meaning a better gunnery score improves the chances of slamming your pairs of missiles.- Your Streaks don't fire on a miss, making for no wasted ammo or heat.Would a Streak-6 be better? Maybe. The heat's lower, but the 6 goes or doesn't making it more all or nothing. 3 Streak 2s is substantially cheaper in Cbills though.
