Yesterday I got some groceries, but when I was in the parking lot, somebody put a piss bottle next to their van's wheel. I recently reread this old CYOA, and holy shit, some of the drawbacks are so insanely crippling that it feels like playing Russian roulette when you roll on the drawback tables, and for some reason, there are always 1 or 2 drawbacks that are "end my life" bad, like slowly becoming mad. All while some other drawbacks are free real estate, like enemy spawns spawning into your realm, and if you kill them all, then they are gone and won't come back, or your dream realm is structured as a labyrinth, which is hard to navigate if you and your minions can't fly. This drawback can, of course, be solved by taking the power that allows you to change your own realm in your sleep, or by simply smashing down all the labyrinth walls and rebuilding. It's a problem that is not permanent and can be solved with time. The balance is all over the place.Not just the drawbacks, but also the powers. You have Fleshwarper that allows you to shapeshift anything you look at, an enemy, a friend, or yourself, you can turn the target into a living weapon or turn them inside out, as an example of applications. Then you have the vastly inferior Shapeshift, which you can only use on yourself and allows you to partially shapeshift into any creature and gain any non-magical abilities they have. No matter how I look at it, Fleshwarper is just way better in every single way. It's an instant kill power, that can kill on sight, with tons of utility, and it can even solve some drawbacks. Like, if you roll and get any appearance drawbacks on yourself or your spawn, you can just fix it with Fleshwarper, maybe not the cosmic one where you become a constellation of freaking stars, but all the others are fixable.Any thoughts on this?

Since apparently saffron is the rarest herb on Earth, and that shit can be bought in a convenience store like all the other rare herbs of Earh. Was just scared that some freak plant disease or disaster would wipe out the herb if I were forced to select 1, and then having to endure eternity in sickness. Now, the only drawback on that table that makes me second-guess myself is the slave to desire drawback. I really hate stuff that fucks with my mind and personality. Why do authors feel so inclined to include personality death and soft personality death?
