If so how did it go?
>>98230663>If so how did it go?Badly. We were ill-prepared and arrogant and while we plowed through the legion like a wrecking ball, those sneaky wyld hunt fuckers cut off our supply lines and waited for us to try and retreat, at which point we were caught in a trap and slaughtered to a man. Next chargen I made sure to put points into War and read some wikipedia articles on battlefield strategy. Next time those Realm bastards won't know what hit them.
Is it possible for the Primordials to rebuild their Souls?
>>98230704What were your characters like?
>>98231043Not their 3rd circles. If they get Ghost-Eaten then they're gone forever
>>98231161True, but given some of the Fair Folk Charms something along those lines sounds possible enough that something would at least imply a reason why they don't do anything of the sort.Maybe that's covered in the oaths they did to surrender but I honestly don't know how that would work given the true name bullshit.
>>98231306I think it's mostly that their idea of themselves is too rigid for them to think that they can, in much the same way that a fair folk noble can't just decide to be unshaped for a while and go for a swim out in the true primordial chaos past the deep wyld (well, unless there's a charm to do just that added since I stopped keeping track...) not really because their being truly can't do that, but rather because their sense of self is built on ideas like "I don't do that".
>>98231306The can use Akumas/warlocks as new souls, and it was implied that Malfeas was growing a new 3rd.
>>98230663Lyta is based NGL I have always wanted to have a game where I help her build an island kingdom to fight against the realm.I might eventually do it as a Solo game, one day...
>>98231055I was a Gorilla totem Full Moon who was too angry to die. Regrettably lack of willpower meant he eventually became chill and died
>>98231367>...their sense of self is built on ideas like "I don't do that".True, Auto was the only guy who thought as broadly as humanity because he modified himself to be able to.

>>98231370That's pretty neat. do we know what the dealis with it? like who is, basically, becoming a demon prince and what sobriet would they be working with.

>>98231586>>98231591Just take Bravo & let the fodder and civilians fuel your advance.
>>98231604There's definitely ways to be such a turbo-combat-autist the means the Realm has to put out to deal with you personally become gratutious, but most Exalts ain't him. Different era but my ExWoD Circle had a hell of a time with the Technocracy and survived less on sheer combat prowess and more on the Eclipse's ability to raise the cost of victory progressively higher until the Union *had* to withdraw. Of course the very next arc they beat up 30,000 demons and took over a planet so you know, everything's relative.
>>98231616Since you have experience with Eclipse casts in ExWoD, how did you use them? I have this character idea and I want to know how viable that is when the dice fall or if I would be better off just making a twilight.
>>98231658ExWoD lacks a social system so it depends entirely on your Storyteller. In theory they should be spectacular given the vampire elders who hold the world in their thrall with webs of intrigue and social dominance have 10-14 dice typically and you can have 20+, with Bureaucracy Charms. I took the effort of writing my own social system that was largely an adaptation of Third Edition's with some twists, but you'll just have to talk to your ST. My general assumptions which I built into those systems were1) A social character can potentially get any other major, non-PC, character to do or think anything, no matter how stupid, provided it does not go against who they are and what they want fundamentally. So getting an NPC to drop their reason for being? Not happening with infinite dice. Getting Caine to attend your sister's quinceanera? Dumb, but nothing about Caine says he wouldn't do that so he agrees, at best he Complicates the influence.2) A social character who addresses a large group can convince the majority of that group of anything, period. If you want to make 51+% of people in NYC decide lolita fashion or togas are in, or that cannibalism is a reasonable solution to homelessness the only thing stopping you is the logistics of getting that message out [the Union hitting their social media was a recurring issue they eventually solved] and a stronger social character saying no [there were none given how gung-ho our Eclipse was].3) Bureaucracy Charms require you to either be ranked in an organization or have some vector of influence. Something as subtle as a mole or a strongly worded email is all you need to 'aim' Foul Air of Argument or Speed the Wheels at some group, but it is not a 'spell'. It is super-powered bureaucratic action.
>>98231712So how did he affect the Technocrats to slow down?
>>98231712Something about Caine not being an end game threat but some kind of comical set piece is really one of the reasons I can't get into ExvsWod. For fan wank it really doesn't do the wanking right.
>>98232051He always was, really.Vampire end game, or was esoteric spirituality or you deal with apocalyptic antes.Caine was more of a plot device.
>>98232051It is a meme given you have to reach the fucker, and apparently his defining Intimacy post Ravnos is "let me sleep & fuck off" To be fair, I'm very partial to this version given the Charm Ranks really solve my main gripe with Exalted.
>>98232075>>98232095Going from the games were even one Ante is considered a world ending threat and where Caine is basically the USC of Exalted to... well, to seeing how some of the fandom sees World of Darkness is just a trip. I still remember when people mocked you for saying all the splats should be in the same universe, ahhh how the times have changed. There is a version of Ex vs Wod that has actual fun progression where you go from city level to country level to world level but it will never exist in this universe. It's always just going to be a different, even shittier version of Mage.
>>98231367Ah yes, the house hippo
>>98232113All splats being in the same universe, is similar to "exalted is a prequel".The 5 original splats were intended to be, but they changed so much in development, that mixing them became a mess without head or tail.>Cain in Vampire vs outside of it.It is because of how messy the lore is, another notorious example is the ante Seth, in Vampire he fights against mathuselas, in the wide setting he becomes super vampire god super vampire.
>>98232113Its just that Cain and the USC have lost any sense of "weight" after 30+ years of the fanbase not remembering anything they did. Cain is specifically depicted as a fuck up in WoD as he his main defining traits are turning everything he touches to shit and deluding himself into thinking he has a more noble reason to kill Able. The USC is on the same boat but thats because the cosmic fleshlight has his balls in a vice and he doesn't have the same "multitude of self" Luna or the Maidens have. All of this is third hand info.
>>98232133Hippo Lunars... Yeah that's a nightmare in the making.
>>98232147He will always be a cab driver sending emails and making my vampire capable of fighting whatever the fuck was working for the local venture lord. Ore No Kuro Otou-chan.
>>98232146>The 5 original splats were intended to be, but they changed so much in development, that mixing them became a mess without head or tail. You can still work with it weirdly enough. Gaia did fuck off into the Wyld for god know how long and luna comming along for the ride sounds plausible if creation does shatter.
>>98232146Can't remember all the details but I remember a lot of the antes being really huge let downs when they came out. A case of the lore just not matching with the hype. Eh. I don't want to shit on wod, it's the only reason we have exalted.
>>98232157Still better than whatever the books had going on.
>>98232171wod go from really cool to really basic and I haven't read many of the new ones. Trying to tie everything together into some marvel universe was a cool idea but everyone else did it too and now I just wish WoD never did it at all.Like some kind of monkeys paw. Not that I hate WoD, I've had fun games with it, just way more unfun ones.
>>98230663I'm happy to see that there are more anons that appreciate Lyta.
>>98232208The splats were always joined at the hip, but they were never... functional(?) as a collective, especially when the later games threw coordination to the wind for their own premises.
>>98232402It is because despite 5 splats (vampire, mage, werewolf, fae and ghost) being planned to exist in the same world, they changed a lot during development; the garou aren't the lupines mentioned in Vampire, and Dreamlings definitely aren't the fae mentioned in older splats.
>>98232430Scope creep and revolving door of writers would probably do that to any game world.
>>98232509It is less scope creep, and more lack of planning, even when Mark●rein was giving orders, it just didn't have any kind of foundations.

>>98233522Thank you!
>>98232051>>98232095>>98232113I only chose Caine as the example to point out how I handled social influence. I did flesh out how I'd stat Caine or an Antediluvian [the Eldest was going to be the final boss of my game before it ended] and neither was a comedic set piece. Caine is, or should be, whatever the Storyteller needs him to be. I do however like the idea of Caine's motivation being specifically to avoid the responsibility his awful childer have forced on him. That he could help, but refuses to instead just drive a taxi and offer cryptic advice in LA. I had a tentative plan for Caine to show up in my game though. He was going to act a lot like Jun Guevara from Baki and appear as an IDF soldier [I *swear* this is not a political statement, I just wanted Caine to dress like a paramilitary and having a Jewish character be in the Jewish military sounded appropriate] wearing an Israeli flag on his head. His motivation was going to be testing the party's motives as they tried to stop the Eldest. They want to stop Gehenna? Why? What are they protecting or living *for*? Any answer not just based on power or ambition would have met his approval.
>>98232039Threw factions at them. The story is a long one and I've told it before but the short version is the Solar caused the biggest oil spill since BP on a whim and ended up buying out Endron Oil in the resulting market clusterfuck, getting him invited onto a late night talk show run by what was obviously a vampire if you knew vampires existed. He attacks him live on air while heavily insinuating 'Hey America, vampires exist' as a throwing down the gauntlet to the Camarilla. But the immediate response wasn't the Camarilla, it was a HIT Mark trying to kill him as he exited the studio in the chaotic aftermath. The party had made a lot of small masquerade violations up until this point and this huge one really set the Union off, so they declared a Shockwave Clause and gave orders to every agent in NYC to find and bring in these RDs. So they ended up getting chased over the next 10 sessions by 30 HIT Marks in three black ops helicopters, five enlightened Agents including a girl who was an Iteration X android running a brain scan, the local Technocrat head [big black guy who I based on the Kingpin Michael Clark Duncan played] who was a cyborg and the android girl's father, and a crap ton of Extraordinary Citizens.[1/2]
>>98235476The Solar's reaction was to just keep calling in favors and dragging factions and upping the ante. He called in>The Dusk Caste>PENTEX>The Kuei Jin>An elder Solar the party knew>CNN>And through a callback to stuff he did several sessions ago, the NYPD. Given the sheer depth of influence over world affairs the Union has, *calling the fucking cops on them* and it *working* really set them off. After the party won and Chinatown was wrecked the Union head decided that his options were to escalate further and call in even more resources, or withdraw for now. He didn't know if the Solar still had more options to throw at him either, so while the Circle *looked* exhausted, it was always possible he had more in the wings to call in too. So the Union offered a ceasefire and to work together on clean-up and coverup. So Endron and the Technocracy disguised the whole fight as a terror incident caused by the Abyssal, who also had all the party's prior public incidents including causing the oil spill pinned on him, making the Abyssal the most wanted man in America.
>>98235419I'm just being that guy because the last few days have been a bit rough anon. I don't know much about mage either. One thing that is curious is how ex vs wod always seems to have a preferred splat, either mage or vampire or furrys or whaev.
>>98235511My prior experience was running a long Mage game but I know all the splats. ExWoD usually focuses on one splat because it takes a doctorate in White Wolf to accurately present the entire World of Darkness. Which I have, so my game used all the pre-Revised splats since that's my preference. So the party met vampires, kuei jin, changelings, etc. The main antagonist of my game was PENTEX since the game was an homage to Saturday Morning cartoons. Power Rangers, Sailor Moon, Street Sharks, Mummies Alive; teenagers with attitude sort of thing. Tonally it was closer to Venture Bros. Changelings probably showed up most often as a splat besides Werewolf-related stuff just because two party members had Kithain in the family.
>>98235511>. One thing that is curious is how ex vs wod always seems to have a preferred splat, either mage or vampire or furrys or whaev. Most people can't be bothered tracking everyone at once so they avoid "rendering" unecessary factions and cosmologies.
>>98235534>because it takes a doctorate in White Wolf to accurately present the entire World of Darknessdesu yeah. It's better imo to just say one splat is canon for any one ex vs wod game. They just tend to overshadow each other if you don't. Otherwise you're just larping like those people who made the Warhammer 40K videos. Which isn't bad but it's not really what I'm in it for. I get loving it but damn if it doesn't feel like a cartoon every time all their played together.
>>98235511WoD is actually N different game lines with different, and a lot of time incompatible, lore, cosmology and mechanics haphazardly stitched together; instead of trying to make sense of it all, STs prefer to use the usual crossover method of using a single gameline as the focus, and build around it.
Where do I find the rules for sacrifices in 1e?
>>98235755>>98235770I am autistic and enjoy tying the whole mass together and running it as one thing, mechanically and lorewise. I ended up going so far with it I eventually wrote my own oWoD-like just to further facilitate such monster mash action. Shameless plug, apologies I never got around to fixing the formatting. The game grew out of my ExWoD house rules and most of the Exalt types are mirrored in certain supernaturals down to Charm names.>https://files.catbox.moe/8y9z3j.pdf

Are there any good analysis of ExWoD Sidereal Charms? Or Sidereal Charms from any Exalted version, really. They look fun, but half the time you feel as if you are missing a lot, and not getting the ways to exploit the theft of someone's name or dreams, or the true amount of information that Efficient Secretary gives(what even counts as lost or hidden information when there's info common among certain groups or beings but hidden from outsiders, whether they'd be willing to speak with your current identity/disguise?)

>>98236586Caine the Father of All VampiresGeneration 1stBlood Pool: 100 [5/Turn]Attributes:STR 10 DEX 10 STA 10INT 10 WIT 10 PER 10CHA 10 MAN 10 APP 10Abilities: 6-10Disciplines: Animalism 10, Auspex 10, Celerity 10, Fortitude 10, Potence 10, Dominate 10, Obsfuscate 10, Presence 10, Protean 10, Thaumaturgy 10 [All commonly known Paths and Rituals]Special Powers:Discipline Manifestation: Caine begins each Story with a pool of 30 'Discipline Points'. As an action on his Turn Caine may spend up to 10 of these points to manifest a new Discipline up to the level of points spent. This Discipline may be a Discipline resulting from his childer's innovations, or it may be a completely new Discipline. While completely new Disciplines must somehow derive from vampire themes or folkore [regardless of culture of origin] those created by his offspring in their grotesque evolutions need not obey this limitations. Caine has grown strong in learning to imitate all the forms his blood has taken over the millennia. These manifested Discipline points last until the end of the current Story, at which point they sink back into the protean nature of his blood unless he re-expends the points necessary to create them. Produced Disciplines should not notably increase his existing combat parameters.Discipline Cancellation: As a reflexive action Caine may spend 5 Blood Points to completely negate any or all Disciplines currently being utilized by a child of Caine. This use need not be in his presence but he must be aware of it at the time of its use. For instance if Caine was aware a fourth generation Brujah Methusaleh was presently using Celerity and Potence to fight all a pack of Garou, Caine could use this ability to nullify these powers and prevent the Methusaleh's doing so. This power has no effect on Kuei Jin, Risen, Ghouls, or other being utilizing Disciplines that are not vampires partaking in his curse. [1/3?]
>>98238080It also does not effect vampires who have artificially lowered their Generation to First.Fortitude 10: As a Reflexive Action, any time Caine would take damage he may spend 5 Blood Points to perfectly defend himself against the attack and set the damage to 0. This Discipline may not be used if Caine is in sunlight, against attacks incorporating fire or sunlight [including atomic fire or redirected or mystically produced sunlight, it was by this exception the Ravnos Antidiluvian was slain], or against attacks launched by characters possessing True Faith [or Charms calibrated to destroy creatures of darkness].Celerity 10: As a Reflexive Action Caine may spend 1 Blood Point. For the rest of the scene Caine may roll his full defense pool against any attack made against him that he is aware of and which is not Undodgable.Mark of Caine: Any time Caine takes damage, whether he is aware of it or not, the target of the attack suffers seven times the total damage suffered by Caine [before Soak, maximum 25 Aggravated Health Levels]. This is considered a perfect attack with no range limit.Immutable Blood: Caine is immune to all effects that would alter or control his mind, body, spirit, or traits unless the character performing such an effect possesses True Faith or a Charm calibrating for destroying creatures of darkness.
>>98238082Antidiluvian Immortality: If Caine is reduced to 0 Health Levels he immediately regains 1 Health Level at the start of his next turn, provided he was not slain by an attack capable of piercing Fortitude 10 and he possesses 1 Blood Point or more. If he does not possess any Blood Points he still survives, but falls into Torpor until he acquires one. Even if Caine is slain by such an attack, he persists as an impotent spirit in the High or Low Umbra [his choice]. At some point in the future, which must be at least one year and is usually much, much longer, Caine may resurrect himself by possessing any vampire who shares in his blood who is not of the First Generation. This is considered a perfect effect. Thus the only way to permanently end Caine's existence against the will of the One is to slay him in the prescribed fashion and then destroy his fleeing soul with Ghost-Eating Technique, or a Sphere Rank 5, Gift Rank 6, or Discipline Level 9+ Effect created for such a purpose.Accuracy: 30 [Difficulty 5]Damage: 25 [+10 Automatic Successes]Soak: 30B/20L/20A [Difficulty 4]Health: 30Note: This is an outlining, not a finished sheet. I'm choosing to have Discipline 10s have specific effects like in the Player's Guide, not open-ended ones such as in Gehenna. He has 'only' 30 Health Levels because I prefer to represent extreme durability through other means then just turning them into health sacks, so any time a character or vehicle has more then 30 I restat it. Through my house rules and his other Disciplines Caine is also capable of lifting any object that would fit within a 1-mile by 1-mile area and moves slightly over the speed of sound for long distances.[3/3]
>>98238080That should be 25 Blood Points/Turn*
>>98236790>>98237048It is slop yes. I made this project for me, my friends, and the community and I wanted to make it look like the old WoD books since the whole game is a love letter to old school 1990s World of Darkness. If I was to ever publish I might get a guy, or at least get better quality AI slop.
>>98238082>Immutable Blood: Caine is immune to all effects that would alter or control his mind, body, spirit, or traits unless the character performing such an effect possesses True Faith or a Charm calibrating for destroying creatures of darkness.little chungus hunter hitting caine with 'get thee hence to hell' will never not be funny
That's fun and all but holy shit do I hate the way wank is handled in wod vs exalted. I'm also not sure how, mechanic wise, you're supposed to run that guy. If you want to run a Caine that might be cool to fight, maybe look at Conkies write up that Inkmonkies did. I have been told that for a puzzle boss he's actually fun to fight. Also it's funny because your Caine stat page is just pure 2e energy.
>>98238082>mystically produced sunlight, it was by this exception the Ravnos Antidiluvian was slain]Also from what I know about WoD this isn't true. It wasn't magical sunlight, mages tried magic and got their asses kicked. It was literally normal sunlight because some asian priests or whatever killed themselves.Magical sunlight via satellites very much failed to do shit to him. I'll double check the sources in a bit.
A breakdown - it seems to have been a group effort because Ravnos can flat out block out the storms and rewrite reality to never have been around. I still go with the VTMB lore of "No, you can't cheat sunlight you fucking moron. Use your brain.""In the end, the Technocracy launches three spiritual nuclear bombs at the Antediluvian and the three Bodhisattvas, but they still fail to kill the vampire (while killing one million people). Then, a Technocratic Archmage named Schiavelli decides to aim a powerful solar shield at Bangladesh, gathering and tripling the sun’s energy. The Kue-Jin manage to dissipate the typhoon just in time for the rays to strike the Antediluvian, who, after being hit by three 2-megaton atomic bombs capable of annihilating even the spirit realm, begins to regenerate. The power of three concentrated suns finally kills the creature, which, upon its death, releases a powerful psychic wave that wipes out the majority of its Clan. "It's amazing how dumb World of Darkness is when it starts merging splats into the canon. It's like bruva alfabusa wrote this game. I hate it.
>>98238546Well, sometimes the messengers are outright angels working for God, it makes sense.>>98239255>releases a powerful psychic wave that wipes out the majority of its Clan. The writers were really ashamed of the independent quartet.
>>98239531Ravnos and his 10 dots of whatever his clan power was is literally just "Make things that aren't real, real. Make things that are real, unreal."I have noticed that the authors of WoD seem to fight with their books. One thing will say something lore wise and then the next book, written by someone else, will call that thing out specifically as being stupid and just a bit of propaganda. It's fucking weird.Caine as a puzzle boss akin to UCS. Your mark of caine hits that spot pretty well. If you're fighting Caine, you will be taking silly amounts of damage and need an endgame build that can handle that. That seems pretty fun for a group to work together with to solve.
>>98239552I know, I was comment about the clans introduced in the pg getting the short end of the stick.>I have noticed that the authors of WoD seem to fight with their booksSome times, they do it in the same book, but it is because of the collective novel format and their pantser ways.>will call that thing out specifically as being stupid and just a bit of propaganda. It's fucking weird.>propaganda.Talking about it, a funny bit is the garou blaming the other shapeshifters for the war, saying that they caused it when they rose their claws and wings against the garou, after the garou did their "holy duty" and killed the other shifters kinfolk.
>>98239614Thinking about Caine more btw I'd avoid the true faith stuff. It's a fun idea but only attracts the dumbest ideas and you're going to have Exalted. I swear I've read a True Faith character who really believed in farts. It's just dumb and you have exalts anyways, focus on that. Just seems like it'd save a bunch of work and potential useless theory crafting.I'd avoid the magical sunlight thing and instead focus on trying to fight Caine under direct sunlight. Not a solars aura or anything, but actual sunlight. Punch Caine into space, punch him to another timezone, that sort of thing.Have some artifacts/items that let you avoid death so you can hit Caine with some big attacks even though it'll one shot you, figure out a way to ping him for damage. Offensive wise I'm not sure what he could throw at you that would be cool. Make it so if you perfect the damage from his Mark of Caine then Caine also doesn't take damage. Caine is the literally end boss of end bosses so... If you can kill him it can be assumed you can kill literally everything.I guess I'd also work out what his gameplay plan is in combat. Caine never really fights, because he can't lose a fight, so he should be properly arrogant and surprised when something actually hurts him. That's him at his weakest - when he thinks nothing can hurt him. Don't lose that advantage, ectect, because he's more then willing to hide.I'd avoid the "Has all disciplines" because that's just bookwork and boring and instead just mark down what you yourself would have him use. Just to speed things up I guess... Maybe look at Legacy of Kain for what an endgame vampire can do as well. I don't know........

>>98239829The rote is both non-canon and for Chronicles of Darkness rather than World of Darkness. The former matters because it means that no it is not real content for WoD, the latter matters because the discussion was about WoD in relation to ExVsWoD not CofD.
>>98239726There's still nothing else even worth attempting.
>>98236628You mean the best line.
I think what makes ExVsWoD so compelling is it has a single author and coherent process for power levels (the game part).Yes Holden gets wankier as the Companion goes along and his mix and match approach to combat rules make it a pain to reference. But it’s a vision that delivers.
>>98239899Blessings things are the result of a specific charm line. Spirits can give people good luck while most Exalts give people part of their powerset until they recall it.So for example, a Dawn Swordsman can give his Thrown, Archery & Martial Arts to their retainers.
>>98239978Not unless you already know what you want to do with the game.
>>98240713>I think what makes ExVsWoD so compelling is it has a single author and coherent process for power levels (the game part).I see where you are coming from, it's a lot harder to fuck up in terms of coherence when there's one one person writing the material. But hey that's what the actual table is for so you can fuck it up on your own.
>>98240713I like it, I just think it works better when you follow the lore of a single line or two max instead of all of them. High powered world of darkness isn't exactly bad. Also it's very much a project from its author and you can really feel that.
>>98240723So ghosts have to take charms in order to be worshiped by an ancestor cult, the sacrifices aren't enough on their own?
>>98241888Most ghosts can get offerings with minimal effort, they can't give you supernatural rewards for it untill they learn the right power to do it.In other words you can leave some fruitcake and booze at your friends's grave site and the ghost version of those items will find their way to them.If the ghost friend wanted to repay the favor he would need to buy like 3 different charms to give supernatural luck for a while or something along those lines. (There are no ghost blessing charm rules but you can just mirror shit from the gods)
