In the end. The author’s best work was Danmachi. Or maybe Mushoku Tensei since it’s literally just two pages and any cyoa that can manage to fit all of its content into as few pages as possible is a sign of dominance - sort of like Black Magic.

>>98241553Im already living this reality
time travel is always pretty lame in cyoas
>get isekai to fantasy world>humans are fantasy creatures there just like elves are back on earthcyoas like this?
Rolled 6, 3, 2, 4, 4, 6 = 25 (6d6)>>98241544>>98241533I kinda messed up the roll on my previous post. I rolled 2 dice instead of 3, and I got the same number 2 times which was 1. The result will count towards my image build, but now I will roll the remaining 2 rolls in this comment. I will roll 6 dice in case I get the same number multiple times. The leftmost rolls will the the ones that count and the rightmost are the extra rolls if I need to make rerolls. Here we go!
>>98241568Most isekai cyoas treat humans like they do for all races.
>>98241541It actually just means you have to construct your own experiences. Time travel doesn’t work that way? Obviously it’s all an illusion. Something is making it appear to work that way despite the logic not adding up.Imagine if you wanted to experience Back to the Future in Marty’s shoes. You would HAVE to be ignorant and naive of how spacetime works, for that fun little story to play out. Ignorance is required. Ignorance is enchanting.
>>98241568I recall one where elves were the default and if you inserted as human, you were the only one in existence. I don't remember what it was called though.
>>98241501Time travel works however the author wills it. Now be silent.
>>98241496Someone who just ignores multiplayer. If you think you'll feel lonely, go for Duo Loop with Zach. He's a bit of a dumbass, but at least he's a relatively nice guy.
>>98241605But then what's the point of being on the list? No one will interact with a solo build.
>>98241612It's fun to read other peoples builds anon
>>98241612We can still determine which solo build "wins" by looking at their quality.
>>98241617I want people to focus on my build. To talk about my build the most. To create stories about my build. To feel inferior to my build and rewrite theirs. To feel superior about my build and tell me how shit mine is. I want my build to be remembered by the thread and the author years later.
>>98241576>>98241576>Result: 1, 6, and 2.I would have liked to be a dragon. I fucking love dragons, but I'm very happy with the Mad Love drawback or should I say perk? Nitur's Blessing is just whatever. I guess I can attune it to smell a source that can grant true immortality and sniff it out. Slave to Desire can be worked around. Like my control is lessened, and I will be more impulsive, but my discipline is still iron, and so is my will. Overall, not a bad roll and I'm not dissatisfied with the result, as the points that I gained will be well spent. Nitur truly has the best drawback tables, and I would roll on his other table too, but I'm afraid he has no more powers to offer that are of interest to me.
I’ve noticed that you guys don’t actually like common sense or logic. Which makes complete sense. This is an escapist general for people who hate real life, and thus logic.
>>98241637Yup yup.
>>98241568I like when there are different identifiable races of humans. Like in Elder Scrolls for example, black people are their own thing, separate but equal to white people.
how is eldritch supposed to work with any of the other personality changes or color attunements if you accessed colorless via devoid as an omnicolored, like if I'm not supposed to think like a human anymore, what does me choosing being tolerant, ruthless or racist mean in terms of my character since there's nothing proscribing having "normal" attunements with eldritch on the same character
>>98241652How is this eldritch? All that is normal for me.

>>98242510I've gone that route a few times, but it's just too... clean? Sterile? I like it rough, feeling the lil hellions kick inside just does something for me.>>98242529One of the things you have to balance for is how much heat you generate, larger is generally better because it gives you more surface area to radiate from, but building in some kind of liquid or air Cooling will really let you set your gestational organs into hyperdrive.
>>98242510To expand a bit further, the insectile style broodmother typically has a sperm repository that is drawn from throughout the life cycle. When you're not able to go that route by having a twisted mammalian form, you constantly need to have men fed to your hungry wombs. The look of horror on their faces when they realize what they've signed up to sacrifice themselves to is priceless. Or when some sad schmuck just gets captured when traveling alone and realizes why no one travels the roads alone at night anymore. But a few doses of aphrodisiac and the haze that comes over them is delightful, as you can see them fight their own disgust until they finally give in.
>>98242640This the exact sort of thing that makes scorched earth and permanent bloodline curses so appealing(Note that it is better to leave them alive with a permanent curse so that they still compete with similar entities while being non-threats themselves, scorched earth is done either before they become a problem or after they've been studied)
>>98242612>>98242640Yeah, this is all beyond me. Sometimes, when I'm in the right mood, the idea of having lots of babies and a nice big happy family is appealing, but having to incubate them for 9 months, twisting and stretching my beautiful body before painfully squirming out, is awful. Even as a fantasy, I can't get into it. So, eggs! Fertilize 'em, pop 'em out, birthing without the mess. No periods either, as a bonus. Harpy builds are especially fun, but I can suspend disbelief well enough for non-avians too.The idea of becoming just a squirming, bulging sack is just icky to me.
>>98242656Different strokes for different folks. I do enjoy some harpy-fication, watching the intellect drain out of your victims until all they can chirp about is their next clutch.
>>98242685You disturb and disgust me. Harpies are all about freedom, flying high above society and its shackles, the sun at your back, wind in your hair. And, sometimes, eggs.
>>98242697Harpies are all about becoming such a bird brain that all you care about is your next clutch-producing lay.
>>98242703No. Gross. Intellect loss of any kind is an instant appetite-ruiner.
>>98242707You're the perfect target for it though, the more the victim resists, the more they think they can handle whatever curse/disease/magic is doing it to them but making it worse for themselves. The building up of tension as the internal soul struggles against the external body forcing foreign ways and modes, until finally there is no more ability to resist and it bursts out in a massive climax of catharsis. Then you just reset them and run it again.
>>98242712

It isn't 'good', it didn't say what it needs to improve to become 'good'. Everyone has 'potential' but you need to point out where it failed. The rest is 'don't use AI' which I agree and actually gave examples of where to get (I disagree on Pinterest but then I would be repeating the guides on OP).Tok's >>98239817 is saying that it's 'bad' but not elaborating. What's the problem with 19 pages? Too long or bad page count for the amount of choices? What's wrong with the AI art (this one I get, but some people somehow need explanation)? What's the text-to-image ratio? And so on. He's honest, but doesn't say how to improve. For most that he said that he's 'helping' he's just saying that something is 'bad'.See it takes 2 seconds to say that something has fault, but explaining why can take a long while, and doing it in a way that helps can be a skill on its own.

>>98244673The timeless option exists for a reason and the 100 points you get make it very, very tempting. Sure the loop gives you training time, but some of the things in the CYOA you cannot train for (some of those spells are world changing). Also once in the loop unless you're the original you are trapped inside and will need to pull off seriously impressive feats to escape or else final death. So for my part im far more interested in just taking the 100 points. Except that I'm paranoid you'd be dropped off just as the Big Bag is bringing his army out and you'd have to fight with whatever powers you happen to have with zero prep time. Now I think about it maybe that's just a previous name. I assume being over a thousand years old he just changed it at some point since his entire civilization is long extinct, but its not like anyone would know. Also he's a pretty cool big bad. The guy is straight out of the age of myth for the setting and remembers when gods used to walk the earth and fuck with people, even has his own divine blessing (the mana frame). He's like if Hercules was around today and was a brutal warlord skellyman wizard.
Is there an audience for a CYOA based around the supernatural used for combat and support? There is no masquerade as the supernatural is out in the open though limited only to those with the will to use it, but there are family dynasties with unique hereditary techniques and political cliques controlling the government/vying for influence. If you ask about the choices for powers, there are only four classifications, but it is heavy mix-matching or pure focus. A very free-flow system os using what you want and strategizing with it and combing them. There is also an upgrade system for base powers and exclusive specialized powers outside the three classifications.High Supernatural, Low Life is the theme.

>>98246306If you see yourself as a pure combat mage then sure pick the higher option, but generally you're fine with the middle option and don't especially need to take options to raise it. It's probably the least important part of your build honestly. More mana makes actually shaping it - and therefore learning new spells and disciplines - harder, so you might not actually want it *too* high. But you need to have enough to be able to practice without constantly needing to stop to recharge. If you have more time to learn, higher magnitudes become less of an issue for that. Which is why the fact the 100 point option doesn't actually tell you where in the timeline you start is a bit annoying. But unless you get into a war or a fights with a lich or a dragon or something you probably won't need *huge* amounts and are probably better off taking options that will either end fights quicker or help you escape than worrying about running out of mana.

>>98246306The more optimal your build is, the less magnitude you want because you can effectively gain a bigger mana pool through various methods whereas cutting down from starting at a high magnitude, if that is even possible, has no purpose since you would have already paid points for it.By "optimal", I mean doing things like using mind magic, having (via the cyoa or later in-universe) Hijack, and not taking multiplayer (this is the most important part). In other words, make your own mana pool practically irrelevant by using others', maximize the benefit of precise shaping, and avoid competition.
>>98244673I would have not cared. Except that working with biggy P lets me have my own internal hell dimension, thusconverting me into a low-grade primordial, and I will forge of myself a body of pain and ecstasy - and dance reality into motion.
>>98246427All non-loopers are jobbers. Just invade someone else's loop with 5 months left, same points and actual free will.
Do Accidental Loopers have detectable markers like Zorian?
>>98246439I personally would consider the permanent enhancements you can get with high mana to be more then worth it
>>98246453But if you don't make it out of the loop within 5 months you die and the version outside the loop is just a vessel without your memories or soul
>>98246460Yes, though they would not have the extra functionalities that his does
>>98246467Nah, I'd win.
>>98246453Anon, the loop is a pocket dimension intended for training one person. It's like the Hyperbolic Time Chamber from DBZ, except the door only works for one person (the original looper) and when Goku leaves anyone else who is still in there is deleted from the universe. If you don't know shit about the setting you're not making it out in five months. If you do know shit about the setting then you're still not doing that. Maybe five years?
>>98246483Better to give it my all and burn in the attempt. If I intend to rule as our hell-chained Originators did, I must act without fear and without hesitation. Besides the worst that would happen is a man would die.
>>98246500If you dont escape the loop your soul also gets destroyed
>>98246515And? My soul is void already.
>>98246483>If you don't know shit about the setting you're not making it out in five months.Actually, you can, and it's really easy. Just walk up to the MC and say "Hey, can you get me out? I'm an archmage in 10 disciplines btw."
>>98246603The mc can't get you out?Without zorian he's just a moderately powerful mage
>>98246620Zorian is the MC.
>>98246626Zorain got Zero(0) people out in canon and wasn't there for the last 13 restarts
>>98246603...Zorian's escape attempt fucked up. He only managed to squeeze himself out as a disembodied soul, everyone else got left behind. Sure don't like those odds myself.
>>98246635Hmm, copy whatever he does and do it better?
>>98246640What a plan to stake your life on
>>98246645Ok, then mind control everyone to come up with solutions together, blood sacrifice them to power a calculation engine at the end of 4 loops, and enact the optimal solution in the last loop.
>>98246640If you took all three ranks in space magic and the bloodline Mathemagic option you'd probably maximise your chances of getting out safely I think so if that was already part of your build go nuts. But also if you try it you only have one chance, and if you fuck it up and get killed like Zorian did and get reduced to a soul you better have also gotten good enough at soul magic to be able to do come back from the dead. Over all probably better to just take the 100 points or the original looper option honestly.
If I want to post a CYOA on this board how sexy is too sexy for Scruffy?
>>98246518
>>98246682As long as there are nipples, penises, or vaginas in the pictures, you are good.
>>98246682Ideally you should just post on trash, but generally the line here is nudity
>>98241449I was trying to decide on a bloodline, so I went through and ranked them. >Elementalist - 3/5MoL doesn't show these off much but theyre meant to be a big deal for noble houses. I think part of it is just the fact that even low level members of clans get powerful instinctive abilities though. At higher levels I'm less sure on how good it actually is and assume the main benefit will be the low mana use and the passive detection. Still, force lets you kamehameha people so that's fucking sweet. In general force or air would be my picks. Both would get you flight in a setting where that is rare (force more Iron Man esque but whatever) and the ability to sense anything that moves passively. Suspect force would be way better for combat, but would probably pick air just for personal preferences and the romance of being able to sit on a hill somewhere and literally feel the wind. >Hijack - 3/5Ah yes, the old counterspell. As bullshit in MoL as anywhere else so not much to say. Solid.>Twin Souls 1/5Honestly avoid IMO. Another one that's great for a clan to have for granting wide access to an odd ability, but an archmage can achieve something similar with their own simulacrums, except simulacrums are disposable and therefore better. >Membrane 3/5So there is a spell - Barkskin - that does something similar to this, and there is also Powerhouse which also strengthens your body with more options. Still it's a constant always on steel shell and a great last line of defense for the paranoid mage who likes the idea of waking up in the middle of the night to an assassin trying to figure out why his knife is getting blunted on your eyeball.Combining this with Air elementalism you could grow useful membrane wings to fly too, which is fucking rad.
>>98246810>Magic Resistance - 5/5A rare sort of bullshit the PC doesn't usually get to benefit from. Mind (and to a lesser extent Soul, but it's not used much in combat) mages will fuck you up right through your defences unless you happen to just be outright better than them at their own specialty. Even Mind Blank and similar defenses can just be dispelled first. This equalizes the playing field. Except a lot of mind mages or psychic creatures are actually weak in pure mana terms (because that's almost a requirement given how mana shaping works) so it's more like flipping the playing field entirely as some just won't have the power to punch through. The fact it will also fuck up all manner of other magics used on you is just the cherry on top. >Tulpa 2/5Unsure on this one. Basically a support AI I suppose. Neat, but the inability to actually cast your magic means it's not worth that much. With mind magic and other options you should be able to be this yourself. >Biomancer ?/5Purely a research pick (unless you want to be a medic as medical magic is infamously hard) and therefore hard to categorize. The stuff you could do with this is world changing (I can see someone with immortal getting this and figuring out how to make de-aging spells a thing by looking at their own biology), but won't pay off for a long time. >Mathemagic 4/5Basically a magic HUD specialized towards space magic that happens to also give you perfect aim and instantly skyrocket your abilities with warding or spell formula too. With this you could probably become the foremost expert in space magic in the world, or use space magic or wards - which require precise measurements and maths and are therefore almost never used on the fly - mid-combat in a way very few mages would be able to even really conceive of let alone defend against. Good.
>>98246820>Silent Casting 6/5?Potentially the scariest option on this list and we are not even close. By removing the need to chant or gesture, this turns casting magic into something that happens at the speed of thought in a setting where options to massively increase your speed of thought exist. At the same time you are also removing your opponents ability to look at your spells and work out what you're doing, or even that you are the one casting spells. If you plan to be a shifter you need this so you can use magic in your fursona. >Empath 3/5Literally the MC's power so obviously it's useful. However unlike many of these which are unique to the CYOA, it's somewhat common in universe and probably not *that* hard to get a ritual to do it. Pretty much a must-pick if you plan to use much mind magic however, and mind magic gets a lot of scary shit and utility options. Also very good for never, ever getting sneak attacked again by anything that is alive since you can constantly sense minds. >Ghost Eyes ?/5Another research pick. Pretty much a must-have for anyone who plans to use soul or blood magic and get good this century, especially without the usual amount of death/murder, or who wants to poke the mana frame. Still it will do little in combat. >Powerhouse 4/5Pretty great. As a mage you should not be getting into melee combat as a rule. But it does happen and being able to flip the table when it does and start ripping people's hearts out is a useful skill. It also does a lot more than just make you stronger too - combat magic requires a fuckton of cardio, who knew - so it has a lot of flexibility. It's also a much better option than transformation magic for buffing you personally, since transformation magic is noted in-universe to be widely available but little studied as it's fucking dangerous as hell even to an experienced caster. Take with magic resistance to just shrug off this magic shit and become Toji.
>>98241449This is getting a lot of builds with no images. Images are good. If you care for your build, give it an image.
>>98246826>Crystalized 2/5Looks much better than it is. Crystal Mana is very valuable, but it's also widely available and with the options in this CYOA you should not be hurting for money ever. This is essentially paying 10 points for the ability to create something you can buy everywhere when there is a boon for money. It's also explosive, so you probably don't want to stockpile *that* much of it.The only real benefit of this is that using your Archmage abilities to get money will put you in a lot of sightlines and expose you to people trying to spy on you for secrets or involve you in shit. Selling mana is damn near anonymous. So take this if you want to disappear.>Taste Tester ?/5A research option and must have if you plan to seriously go into alchemy and make your mark, as it's an expensive and time consuming hobby. Probably best to hide that you have this: bloodline theft is a thing in this world and House Reid - who are basically a cartel - might assume you murdered a member of theirs to steal this and won't be happy if you start having a bunch of kids with this power.
>>98246830Taste Tester is the 2nd worst because you can just work with a Reid.
>>98246826>If you plan to be a shifter you need this so you can use magic in your fursona. You don't. Just make tiny mouths/hands in your transformation.
>>98246852Huh. Didn't think of that. Good point.>>98246858...That's not how shifters work? You transform into an animal form either completely or partially. Transformation magic is something different and people choose to be shifters mostly because transformation magic is a great way of fucking yourself over permanently (in a few different ways, but accidentally getting stuck in a form that can't use magic is a big one).
>>98246826You're way overestimating silent casting imo. If you prep a staff or wand or whatever with the spell formula for all your combat spells you don't need it at all.
>>98246870You can't customize your transformations? What a shit discipline.
>>98246877We haven't actually seen any master transformation mages in canon, and the cyoa has a chimera option, so it's fairly plausible to think that if you are at a high level you can do that (At some risk of it going terribly wrong and killing you)
>>98246877People in universe agree. The accepted sensible way to use transformation magic is to pay to have some other poor fuck do it and put it in a temporary potion so you don't accidentally die horribly from fucking up transformation magic.Though there is the Shapechange spell at the bottom which seems more like 'this entire discipline if it didn't suck'. >>98246875Dude, action economy is king for every spell caster ever. Casting at the speed of accelerated thought is crazy. And sure simple combat spells can be put in a staff but you notice how little that actually happens? Since spells in objects are flatly worse than spells that you cast yourself? But adding to that, all those spells which are too awkward to cast in-combat because of the long incantations and gestures? They're viable for you!
>>98246826>>98246918I didn't really consider this aspect of silent casting and since I didn't read the books I didn't know there were spells with really long chants, might change my build to see if I can squeeze it in there
>>98241449What happens if you pick Priest and The First Ikosian Emperor? Can you pick any of the past churches to be a part of?
>>98246957Ah, makes sense. So yeah by the endgame the MC ends up using a combo of mind magic and soul magic to be a mind-hive of his multiple simulacrums, with accelerated thoughts and a built-in thinking engine capable of doing complex calculations off the cuff and a perfect memory. That's the sort of mind I'm thinking for Silent Casting at it's most terrifying: you could conceivably have multiple spells being cast at once from one body using multithreading. Course that's a lot of work to get to that insane point. But even with the basics, you'd be a lot faster casting spells in a setting where that matters and no one could tell what you were casting, which is nothing to sneeze at. Many combat spells are pretty simple for obvious reasons, but some magics like Soul Magic is just too fiddly to cast mid-combat normally (which is irritating when your opponent is a Lich where you need soul magic to seriously harm him). There's also buff or defensive spells you normally cast before the fight but which you probably can't re-up normally if they go down. Like Mind Blank (which protects you against mind magic, which can very easily fuck you over in this setting). A bunch of times in the books mages put that on and treat it like they;re immune, which they are but then all that happens is they get hit by a dispel magic, and then just get fucked over by mind magic before they can possibly recast their buff.
>>98247002Also, did the cult of the world dragon exist 2000 years ago?
>>98241449Honestly, Original Looper really fucking sucks. Accidentals easily can get all the points, but you can't even get a bloodline or spells, and barely can achieve competent Skill minimum. What a glorified potential man option.
>>98247002>>98247014I guess yes, and almost certainly not respectively. The cult of the world dragon didnt give me the impression it was an actual ancient secret society but more or a gentleman's club where most didnt take it that seriously. And in-setting cults like that started popping up in response to the silence of the gods, back in mythical times when actual gods were smiting and rewarding people worshipping Honestly with the First Emperor option most boons lose almost all meaning. You're going to stand out absurdly with your abilities if you're even half awake because this is a setting where older is not better and modern magic is explicitly superior in every way. Ancient mages would be the equivalent of level 1-3 D&D wizards, with you being Level 20.

>>98246810Your severely underestimating twin soul it doubles your mana pool as the soul has an extra mana pool, while simulacra share your mana pool. This is essentialy a second mana frame with added multitasking capabilities the only problem that each soul needs to be tought shaping separately, but if you also have silent casting then you can essentialy double cast.
>>98245302It feels awkward to give a proper name to a build. I can't really put into words why. I have given proper names for my builds at some points in the past, but the last time was years ago.
