Why do Eldar get more detachment combinations than any other army outside space marines? Did they really need 4 new 1DP options just for two different Harlequins variations? Surely Tau shouldn't be stuck all the way down at 9 total play options.
>>98254050>has no squire accompanying him>has no horse for a mount like a broke peasant>has no manor or a castle to call his own>OWNS NO LAND>has no peasants who work his land>has no wife and no children to keep family lineage going>owns no spices>not even part of nobilityThat's not a knight, it's a fucking loser ass peasant in a fucking a trash can posing as one.An actual insult to knight is what this is.
>>98253987>TQHaven’t played yet. Hoping to this Thursday.Gonna post fluff in the meantime.1/?>Saint Alvarehs Folly Early M42.009:>Saint Ahlvarehs’ Rest lay on the northern edge of Segmentum Obscurus, near the border with the Ork empire of Bork. Named in M37 such during one of the last great wars that saw the greenskins driven out of imperial space thanks to his liturgical urging. Though the name was soon shortened by the planetary natives to simply Sar. It would prosper for some 2000 years despite repeated attacks by small Ork raider forces that led to the growth of considerable orbital defence systems.>Designated a combination Shrine world and Cemetery world it soon grew to house a large Astropathic choir beacon as further waves of settlers arrived from the core of the imperium. The formidable defenses built up by Alvarehs’ successors proved sufficient to guarantee its safety. The much needed beacon allowed Imperial Navy forces to better coordinate against the Ork menace and keep their raiders away from the system and confined to the fortress worlds in the region. >The world itself was a misty, damp place, vast oceans and an extremely mild axial tilt resulted in almost no seasonal variance. It was also extremely geologically stable and as such vast tomb complexes were carved into its carefully drained wetlands. Its many small continents soon became filled with the sacred dead of Mankind’s defenders. A middling population existed on the world, subsisting off of fishing and stipends to tend to the graves and temples as they grew. A large PDF was formed thanks to careful investments of those stipends and generous donations from the Ecclesiarchy when its members occasionally visited the planet, the foggy tranquility aiding their meditations. When the Great Rift opened Sar quickly became much more important as an astropathic beacon to aid navigation and its defenses were reinforced by sector command.
>>982540632/?>This would prove a prescient but ultimately futile act.>The first sign of danger to the far flung planet came when it’s normally gentle tides were suddenly disrupted. A series of tsunamis devastated its populace while Magos Geologi searched for a possible cause. Soon astropaths throughout the s region began to report the steady darkening of the beacon as though something was constricting it. Before long a cult arose across the world claiming the Emperor was displeased by their ruler’s weakness and had allowed the Rift and rescinded his blessings. The resulting turmoil led to even more confusion and destruction. As the violence reached a fever pitch the true cause became clear. A number of unknown vessels were detected by Navy pickets in the system’s ecliptic asteroid belt. When they investigated the threat all contact was suddenly lost right as they neared the anomalies. A larger, more powerful detachment then carefully investigated.>To their horror they found abominations, a small flotilla of imperial vessels riddled with horrific alien growths. Seemingly controlled by the biomass that filled them. Then slowly coming out of the dark behind them, a vast shoal of Tyranid biovessels. The Hive Fleet that would become known as Hive Fleet Anansi was small by the standards of the tyranids. Once a splinter of Behemoth it had grown fat on the accumulated biomass of worlds beyond the imperium’s borders and it quickly showed an unusual cunning. The Navy leapt to action, attempting to stall their foes in the outer system until order could be restored on Sar. Astropathic messages out of the system proved impossible as the full might of the tyranid fleet began to drift out of the swirling void beyond the galaxy and the weight of its psychic shadow blanketed the system.
>>982540663/?>Quickly it became clear that the Navy detachment present would be unable to stop the alien menace. Anansi’s biovessels proved cagey, carefully maneuvering around the Imperial fleet to try and ensnare it without simply destroying the ships. A final desperate breakout action was mounted and several ships escaped the system to spread warning. Without the guidance of the Choir they were slow to arrive in neighbouring systems. In the meantime Anansi began its slow consumption of the orbital defenses of Sar.>Recognizing the danger once word spread, sector command dispatched all available assets and sent a request for aid to all neighbouring sectors. Many of them already beset by the rising tide of chaos, failed to respond. However Lucium and a few others still had some strength to spare. In total almost 300 navy vessels of varying size and nearly a thousand astartes from different chapters, as well as 4 regiments of Astra Militarum troops were assembled and dispatched to relieve Sar. The Coal Hearts sent elements of the 6th and 5th companies as their contribution under the overall command of Captain B’o’fa. Despite distorted warp currents the fleet was able to arrive mostly intact. They found Sar in the process of being devoured. The orbital defenses had been largely subdued and large swathes of the planet tainted by tyranid swarms. However, much of the planetary defense forces had managed to rally around several key locations and hold against all odds. One of them being the Choir and another being a large crypt complex on a small continent near the southern pole that contained Alvarehs’ remains.>The combined fleet, dubbed Battlefleet Siberus, fought its way into the system with the bulk of the hive fleet retreating before them into the asteroid belt. The void battle was a nasty close range clawing struggle. While the void war played out Imperial reinforcements made planetfall.
>>982540744/?>Initial efforts were markedly successful and provided some relief but the Tyranid presence was profoundly tenacious. Just as one region would be declared cleansed a new infestation would appear, rising up from subverted crypts or corrupted waterways. The hallowed dead of the imperium being converted into more biomass in underground charnel hives. Disturbing reports began to filter through to command of voices in the mist, misdirections, faulty orders, and sudden spates of madness grew worse the longer the battles wore on. Most worryingly were the new bio forms encountered, chief among them the Soulbreaker Wyrm. A dreadful Neurotyrant of incredible power. Reports of the creature describe its gnarled bony plates as shifting and changing into faces that were all too familiar to its attackers. Confirmed slain at least four times it was simply resurrected by the hive mind again and again. Psychophagic monstrosities and Zoanthropes also appeared with regularity. Bizarre new lictors that seemed to feed off of the fear and confusion of their foes haunted the mists endlessly. Eventually even the Tomb of Saint Alvarehs was consumed by the swarm when its defenders were driven mad by the psychic onslaught and turned on eachother. The Coal Hearts launched a desperate attack in an attempt to salvage something, but were only able to recover Saint Alvarehs’ bones and a handful of lesser relics. The brave guardsmen were left to die.
Why is he so based?
>>982540855/?>In the void things had taken a turn for the worse, despite their best efforts more and more Tyranid vessels streamed into the system with every passing day. Soon it became clear that they would overwhelm the Navy regardless of their skill and careful tactics. The darkest hour came when Siberus was finally pinned by Anansi against the asteroid belt by a fresh wave of biovessels that managed to slide undetected past their pickets. The fleet only escaped thanks to the sacrifice of the Meteoric Reprisal, a Coal Heart vessel. Driving into the enemy formation it deployed several boarding forces onto the largest tyranid bioform before ramming it, impaling it on the cruiser’s shattered prow. This combined with a series of Vortex charges planted by the boarders managed to kill the biovessel and stun the Anansi swarmships nearby long enough for most the fleet to pull back towards the planet to make their final stand. >On the planetary surface Captain B’o’fa led a series of daring but ultimately futile strikes against the largest Tyranid hive burrows. Nearly dying following a duel with an acid spitting lictor that managed to almost decapitate him with its saliva when he closed in for the kill. He was rescued but taken out of the conflict, not fully recovering until after it was all over. Saved by the company apothecary, his throat and lower jaw have since been replaced by carefully crafted augmetics. Lieutenant Ut’erehs would see his first combat here as an officer. Collecting several trophies as he proved resilient to the psychological attacks of Anansi. Hunting its synapse creatures in much the same way Anansi tried to eliminate the Imperial command and break their morale. His actions would culminate in the third confirmed kill of the Soulbreaker at the cost of his left arm and almost a dozen marines.
>>98254086Who?
>>982540916/?>It would prove a temporary victory as the Hive Mind quickly resurrected its fallen champion yet again. With every day the swarms of tyranid bioforms grew more numerous and vicious and the imperial defenders more tired.>It was then, as both sides stood battered and the Imperials prepared for a futile last stand that something unexpected happened. An enourmous Ork fleet crashed into the system, landing right in the middle of the coalesced Hive Fleet Anansi. Drawn by rumours of the Imperial fleet having been deployed to the system they had come looking for a fight. They got their wish. In the turmoil, the Imperials took their chance and began evacuating all they could. Fully half the Astropathic choir, most of their equipment, and seven million civilians were crowded into the battered vessels of Siberus and the fleet fled the system at maximum power, leaving behind a world well along the process of Tyranid absorption. Unable to even perform exterminatous in their haste.>The Orks proved successful where the Imperial Navy had failed. The armada had been forming for quite some time as part of a new Waaagh. Already weakened by a full year of non-stop combat, Anansi was broken by the Orks, with smaller splinter fleets scattering in every direction. The Ork victory was not without cost however. The vast majority of the Roks and Killkroozers the Orks had brought with them were also destroyed. With no one left to fight, the remaining Orks bombarded Sar out of frustration and left. Leaving behind a dead system filled with only faint psychic echoes of the calamity that had occurred there.
>>982541017/7>In the years since Saint Alvarehs’ Rest was devastated Anansi has sprung up repeatedly, feeding again on the undefended worlds of the northern fringe. Curiously the fleet has shown a preference for attacking Mechanicus and Ecclesiarchal holdings. The Ordo Xenos is watching these developments with concern but given the isolated nature of the Imperium Nihlus little can be done even if some understanding could be found for this unusual behaviour. The Coal Hearts have taken up much of the effort to try and keep the fleet from regrowing. The chapter’s Master of Sanctity Nubari Sangar himself frequently participating in such operations. A common tactic being lightning attacks on weakened splinter fleets to deploy ever newer toxins and mutagens onto the vessels and thus contaminate or destroy the tendrils. These missions also harvest new tyranid material to be tested as the Hive Mind continually adapts. In response Anansi has begun using ever more elaborate ambushes to try and ward off their tormentors and developing unusual defensive biomorphs for their vessels to counter the boarding attacks.
