now that I think about it, isn't the "Adeptus Titanicus" title inaccurate for a 30k game? the Adepta are labels for the different government organizations as they exist after the various reforms of the scouring and such, aren't they?
>>98297389the original game was called Adeptus Titanicus, it's a remakethey probably wanted to use the title to hook in nostalgic older players
were there literally any news about next scouring book?

I am in the proces having to build some centurions/pretors/champions. And I have seen the new w40k venguard kit, especialy the two handed sword guy. What do you guys think wouldn't it look cool on a 2.0 ax pretor body?
>>98297623kys
>>98297623No, it would look bad. Just don't use those bits, there are shittons of other bits to use
Man why are fire drake terminators so weird looking? Did they have a choice between cataphractii and tartaros in 1.0 and that's why they're an indescript mixture of both?
>>98297741From the rear it is very obviously cataphractii. The only design feature firedrake armour shares with tartaros is the slightly rounded top plate, nothing more.
>>98297726>>98297631are there any two handed swords held like that, I like the kits GW makes, but their power armoured stuff looks very similar even if it is different type of things. Do you think I could take the two handed eviscarator, cut off the blade thing and mount a large long sword blade on it or would it look wierd too?
>>98297623Bait but you get the rope anyways.
>>98297623>>98297631Modern 40K Space Marines (which are almost exlusively seo-called primaris now) are quite out of scale with Horus Heresy counterparts. If you still want to use some 40K bits, I'd ask you to first consider why you feel the need to do so since they usually don't fit the setting - but I'd also recommend that you put the parts on third-party bodies. Tortuga Bay is notorious for making very wide and bulky marines, and primaris arms actually work quite well on those. I saw a great simple kitbash at my LGS that had Tortuga SG with plastic SG arms.Another thing to consider is the oversized helmets, which look downright comical on a HH body and vice versa. 3D printing is the obvious solution to most of this. Save money, get the pieces you actually want instead of just making a kinda-cope.
>>98297332This, once I get back home from work I'll post some pic of my armoured company.

>>98297979Anon, If I am a retard then I don't know what you are. I want a broad swords, held in a two handed grip in plastic. If the primaris one is not okey, then I asked if I took the two handed grip eviscerator and replaced the blade with a broad sword blade, from lets say the 2.0 HH sword pretor model or any other large broad sword bit that is in plastic. My confusion comes from the lack of knowladge if saber or basket hilt style hand protection was used by marines in the era of Horus Heresy. and what ever it would look okey, as this is the first kitbash or conversion I am making. Plus what If I took a blade from w40k that is known to be from 30k times, like the sword that the Lion has or the blades from the previous sanguinary guard model kit? From what I understand the original Sanguinary Guard are wearing and using weapons, identical to the unit that existed in HH?
>>98298029To give an example. Would this sword be okey on a centurion. Probably the shoulder pads too, maybe the jump pack also.
Has GW painted themselves into a corner? If they revert back to 2.0's system they'll alienate all the new players and the ones who like 3.0If they stick with 3.0 for the next edition, all the grogs will just stick with 2.0What can be done?
>>98298053I've both yet to meet somebody who has only played third or seen somebody play second after third came out. Heresy players are heresy players. I don't think it matters much either way.
>>98298053>all the grogs will just stick with 2.0I'm playing 1st edition hh and will keep doing so until I get bored.
>>98298029You literally asked if you could up use a primaris two handed sword from the new sternguard kit for your 30k praetor. The answer is fucking no. Then you accused me of saying the two handed eviscerator chainsword from the 30k melee weapons upgrade sprue isn't 30k. You're a fucking retard.Either use 30k bits, print something, or convert something.
>>98298090the two handed swords from w40k are swords from Horus Heresy times though. That is why they are called relic blades. So he is kind of a right.
>>98298029Oh man, just do whatever you want. Why are you even asking thoughts on 4chan if you are not willing to accept them? People here mostly buys recasts, some throws shitload of money on original resin, some fags buys nu plastic shit, someone event likes the nu cata-strophe-phractii, but all of us autistic retards here have a consensus: do not fucking use primaris bits. >>98301976Which is actually what they should be in lore, and also exactly why they never should've been given rules other than like, a 3-5 man squad as a 0-1 allies choice for loyalist armies.

>>98302077I think it's cool how they have some unique vehicles and dreads in 30k, but they really should be a more limited army
>>98302085Maybe could’ve been balanced out with SoS units. Fragile units with some hypothetical benefit that makes taking them not only viable but good compared to even more Custodes. There’s gotta be some special weapons or units they could come up with for SoS.

>>98302175SoS had an entire armylist in the previous two editions. It's criminal that those rules weren't ported over, and an even bigger crime that we still don't got proper models for all of it.

People post all these beautiful images of wonderful places, but whenever I've gone hiking in nature it's just endless fucking bugs everywhere.
>>98302689London is just fine besides all the immigrants and nonces.
>>98302077>they never should've been given rules other than like, a 3-5 man squad as a 0-1 allies choice for loyalist armies. You greatly overestimate the value of a single Custard unit. It's their use en mass that may cause severe balance issue, not a bunch of pseudo-Tartaros that can be handled by any decent list around. Beside, this is a tabletop game made to show your lovingly painted models and Custodes historically have had enough units since Visions to justify a decent range of miniatures. There is no reason to artificially force people to keep most of their collection on a shelf, as long as you can keep the game balanced and won't rape the lore. I think the current ally detachment is a good compromise, as it's flexible enough to allow a few iconic units to take the field alongside regular Custards without being too oppressive.

>>98303993Yes, as of legacies. Theyre HSS with two wounds and the options to take heavy disintigrators. They also have Implacable Advance iirc. Somewhat situational unit imo, besides being elites they cost more than HSS (already expensive) without any increase in damage, and 2w while nice vs small arms means little egainst the bigger guns you could see pointed at that. That plasma executioner or Cbeamer doesent care. Very cool concept though.
>>98304003Very cool, so they have access to all the regular heavy weapons?
>>98304038Yes iirc. All the normal heavy weapons ones and then also the heavy disintegrators.
>>98304038>>98304042Here we go.All special weaponsAll heavy weaponsSome D guns. 20ppm base
>>98303999Ik, i just like way it looks that way more
>>98304042>>98304051Thank you anons!
>>98303445I hadn’t thought of them for it, but after seeing how good anon’s heavy autocannon guy looks I may snag a box for some veteran despoilers.
>>98304059There are veteran despoiler 0__0. wtf
>>98304073Yeah, as of the Zone Mortalis book. Thinking of a squad of power axes and thunder hammers for my IW
>>98304073Theyre just normal melee vets. As a combat unit theyre just worse than a command squad, centurion command are 3ppm cheaper and praetorian command are 2ppm for for 2+ armor. But theyre in a different slot and have vanguard, and they can take heavy chainswords iirc. So thats cool. So theres now a dedicated "veteran" equivalent to tacticals, assault marines, breachers, despoilers and HSS/TSS.
>>98304091I swear the aussies made a fan supplement with all these veterans back in 1.0
>>98304103Well, tactical vets and vet despoilers are basically just the two halves of the old "veterans" unit. But yea, the others seem like natural enough units to include.Veterans shouldnt be a unit, they should be an upgrade other units can buy for +1W and improved LD stats
>>98304103Mournival only ever made vet recons and termis
>>98304110Basically: You wouldnt be buying "veteran X", you would take a normal breacher, or outrider, or destroyer, or assault squad, and you would pay Xppm to make them veterans increasing their stats. This would represent the fact that veterans are just that, marines that have done their job well enough to be better at it.
>>98304117Yeah it was the Mournival
how do you make siege armies that aren't boring?
>>98304235Try making an actual siege army, rather than an artillery army and pretending it's a siege army. Get some ranged heavies and then a bunch of stuff for actually breaching the target. Mastodon, termites, leviathans with siege drills, ironclad castraferrums, etc.
>>98304235Make the guys who enter the breach and massacre the defenders. Assault & despoiler squads, cqb configured dreads, support squads with assault weapons.
>>98304235Logitstics
>>98304235By taking more than just "artillery". By all means, take those basilisks, medusas, mortars and so on. But then also remember that sieges are very much infantry affairs and that you need someone to actually attack the enemy position. Assault elements that try and break through (which is what the artillery is in support of). Siege armies are "Boring" because people just take the same 2/3 units in large numbers, and those units are not very interactive. So dont do that.If youre SA/Militia take aggressive infantry to try and make a breakthrough, veletaris and ogryn, maybe massed human waves to represent the actual bulk of the siege force, if youre marines take breachers or despoilers, termite drills and whatever else you would actually use to go in once the defenders are softened up. Your infantry elements arent likely to be super elite (terminators arent going to be sat there in a slogging siege for the most part, theyre made for shock armored breakthroughs) but rather hordes of more basic units slogging up the field under the cover of heavy guns, seeking to take ground from the enemy. An army of nothing but artillery guns isnt fluffy (it would just be overrun and be unable to hold any ground), isnt interesting (it looks ugly, doesent represent anything interesting from a listbuilding perspective, and plays the same every time) and isnt fun to fight (it, like all other gimmick armies, are a binary win/loss based on whether the opponent knows what sort of shit youre up to/has the proper units). An army featuring artillery does not have to be those things.
>>98304726Basically, as with every "army concept" its about finding ways to make your army varied and interactive, rather than just spamming a single unit.
>>98304726Also: When in doubt MSUTwo squads of 5 autocannons are more fun and interesting than one of 10.
>>98304235Vindicator, Breachers, Despoilers, Ironclad Dreads. Pretty much what that special list from badab did on 5th/6th
>>98302798I will summon trips unless perils, in which case pushups. World Eaters.
>>98304051hate that they're not locked to the same weapon like a normal HSS
>>98305023Theyd be a bit boring if they were. Besides, theres new heavy weapons which HSS cant take loads of.
>>98305023That wouldn't be very veteran of them now would they?
>>98303584I'm still pissed they went out of their way to make female bodies for 50% of the base unit. You're already expected to make an army out of six fucking poses, and now they make three of them female not because they *needed* to be for GW to do their "female custodes have always been real" retcon, a few extra heads in the box like with Cadians for those who wanted to use them could do that, but because they absolutely wanted to make it impossible to get the better new minis unless you accept the retcon.
>>98305527Which ones are the female bodies? Maybe I'm blind, but it's impossible to see any real difference on pics online.
>>98305564Plus shield captain.
>>98305527Yeah, they went for the worst of all worlds.>Female Custodes>No male only bodies with some token heads>Female bodies are only slightly different, not feminine enough to look good.Just blunder after blunder.
>>98305712It does seem like even GW realised how much of a mistake femstodes were. After the shield captain and base infantry there hasn't been a single femstodes model.
>>98305754They weren't a mistake they were a stunt. GW gets to pretend like they're being inclusive and get attention while getting people to rebuy their army. Any bitching can get written off easily. It's all just money to them.
>>98305778But people didn't have to rebuy their army. Heck, GW themselves still sells the old custodes models. All it did was create a lot of bad PR and alienate a good chunk of the customers. People that are feral about "muh representation" never buy anything, this has been proven countless times.
>>98305778Not so much a "stunt" as it was a shit test. They had their finger on the trigger for femme marines ("OH, one of Cawls other experimental successes with the primarishit project was now the ladies get to play too, you silly goys....I mean boys....!"). I would bet fucking money on it, and once they saw the mini shit storm, they realized "....ok, not just yet...."Its going to happen, just now hopefully later, MUCH later, rather than sooner....
>>98305839If that were true they would have but femstodes in 40k first since you have the lore about Khorne attacking Terra and killing 4000 custards. They don't care about integrating lore which is why they just dropped femstodes in a twitter post
>>98305845Holy shit nigga I cant understand your post. They dont give a shit about the lore, they just wanted to add femme marines, and they used the shitty little golden boys as the dry run test. The test caused a mini shit storm/exodus, so I guarantee they shelved them (for now....). They had the PERFECT thing to introduce them (primarishit), where all of a sudden marines get basically primarched up in the lore to 90s style "EXTREMEEEEE marines", and they could have very easilly just said one of the side effects of it is, now women dont just fucking die or become a mutated blob of cells if they get gene seeded. Be thankful that enough people bitched, because I guarantee it would have happened if everyone had just kept their mouths shut and conSOOOOOOmed.
I want to start an Iron Hands force. Is the maximus battle group good?
>>98305874It's a good box to start your first army with. Decent number of infantry that you can turn into different units with upgrade kits, contemptors are quite flexible with all the ways you can equip them, and the sicaran is a decent all-round tank with above average durability. Some people turn it into a sicaran arcus by putting the scorpius turret on top. Hopefully you didn't mean "good" in a competitive way, because HH is not the game for that.
>>98301841It pops up for less from time to time, $500ish.There's also the softcover version, obviously not as nice, but I got it for $235 shipped.
>>98305564They have like 10% larger pecs
>>98305754There's only been the Venatari and they look like they were designed before the foid retcon
>>98306184The upcoming jetbike riders don't have foids either
>>98305857It's pretty easy to understand, they could have used the retcon to ad femstodes to 40k since the imperium is running out of male nobles to juice up but instead they went with 'there has always been women custodes'
>>98305644I've seen obese redditors with more obvious tits than that.
>>98306190>running out of male nobles to juice up>thinking there's ever an end to the nobles to sacrifice
>>98305712New to Games Workshop huh? The fact there're retards out there living in delulu land thinking Femstode gonna look like big tiddies "fan project" artwork is hillarious, despite the face that GW just straight up show people what a femstode would look like in their animation, or really just speak to anyone who've been seeing "GW females" for the past years.
>>98306190why would they be running out of male babies, but not female babies? anyway, it's not like enough custodes are being made to even put a dent in the potential recruitment pool. there's only 10 thousand of them, and they live for centuries to millennia, so probably only a handful are recruited every generation.

>>98306190Yes brilliant idea when you're running out of the male nobles to take the only nobles able to produce more of them into warriors, so they cannot make more. The whole troonstodes concept is a sham anyways to push woke marxist politics into the setting.

>>98307021Yeah, terminator armour never should have gotten special rules for each mark. The armies are way too large for shit like that, special rules for each specific pattern of armour needs to stay in skirmish games.
>>98307034Imagine power armour rules in the style of 2e HH shattered legions. It would un-ironically kill the game, that shit was unplayable unless you took half a week for one game.
>>98307021Cata and Tartaros shouldn't have different rules. It was obsolete rules favouritism to sell more resin during the FW era, but it's nonsense now. >>98307468>is it usually a problem? If you're talking about dry pigments, I haven't experienced it personally, but I've always purchased them in person from my local shop. You might have lucked out and bought a bottle that didn't have the lid screwed on 100% at the factory.>can you achieve it with black drybrushing?Yes. The main difference is that pigments will look extra matte compared to acrylics. The problem however is that pigments don't like to stick to smooth surfaces (like metallic paint), so you often need varnish or fixer (which can end up changing the finish of your metallic paint). An acrylic drybrush or glaze therefore is usually the easiest option for achieving this particular scorched effect. There are more involved methods that combine the best of both worlds (shiny metallic paint and ultra matte pigments that won't flake off), but it requires more steps (varnishing, applying pigments, varnishing or fixing, then reapplying metallics in some places).
>>98307693>zero out of ten>There isnt a single flavorful legion in the whole traitor line up (idk about loyalist I dont play them)>Every trait reaction etc is simply borigLol>Still too many, named legion units should not exist yet they brought them back in legacy>The only difference between various legion should be the wargear they will use and the legion rules, not made up bullshit.Lmao
>>98307619>granularityLower than in previous editions, rather objectively. Especially for characters. Some units got more options (reavers and night raptors getting thunder hammers) but for the most part there is just less "I give my guy X and Y" potential. >flavorActually very good. The traits/legion rules are probably the best they've ever been for conveying legion character and "living the fantasy" . There's still some stinkers (IF are still boring as fuck and pushed towards monobuilds, sallies have two traits for some reason even if both are individually fine...) but on the whole they do a great job of doing their job while remaining simple and elegant.
>>98307747Handheld vexillas are kino>>98307619I fucking hate army building. I hate detachments. I hate the HQ tax. I can never fit what I want into an army list. Prime advantages are all boring.
>>98307805Ultramarines and NL are particular winners on that front. NL went from a mechanically interesting but functionally wonky trait that encouraged them to play a very specific style of gunline and had no impact on melee to a (still mechanically interesting) trait that makes them the best "bullies" in the game bar none. If they get their ideal engagements they feel invincible, but its entirely reliant on the enemy failing a status check. UM went from having tau markerlights (dumb) to having a very simple but effective trait that helps show that their thing is tactical flexibility and utilitarian response, rather than simply "being better shots". They went from trash to up there with alpha legion for best legion trait. Just slightly better in whatever way is needed without being "objectively better" in any given field.
>>98307824>I can never fit what I want into an army list.Yea no shit, thats the point of limitations. If you can simply take everything you want lists are boring. You couldnt take all you wanted with the limited slots either, which was once again the point.
>>98307094prime advantage for BA diviner that lets him save against his Base Willpower with a Check, instead of normal saves or damage mitigation; it's a 5/6 pass at WP9, it would bypass AP and other rules that modify Saves entirely, and if Sanguinius (or Jenny, even with cross-faction penalty) is in the unit it actually improves but in return for successfully making the Check he gets Fear (1) and it works the way the old Blackshields/Militia warlord trait did, where it affects friendlies tooAxe Diviners are already fairly monstrous in Challenges since they can hit on 2+ and get a focus roll bonus from Duellist's Edge (2) just for being great guys, so a guy who's just shrugging off love taps from Horus because "it's not time yet" is extremely funny, but you've got to have a downside, so Fear (1)or shit call it "Uncanny (X)" and have it do what Fear does but to all Units, friend or foe, instead of making an exceptiongoodness knows if we're having proper daemons from now on they'll need something like thatbut also prime advantage for BA because fuck AL soup

>>98307619>FlavourAs a Custard player, I must say 3.0 is by far the most flavourful edition I have played so far. It's not perfect and the very nature of the faction makes it difficult to balance against some armies, I won't deny that. But at least the internal balance is great, almost all units and weapons have a use and we got funny stuff like Ides of March'ing a Praetor with misericordias or Valdor having Hatred (Paragon). Building a diverse and viable army has never been so easy, Guard spam from 2.0 is over.

The latter forms the bulk, of which they didn’t specialize in the siege itself but going into the breach when it was made and clearing out any defenders with brutal efficiency. In other words it means I got 20 Breachers and 20 some jump troops. I’m gonna finish this army with that MKIV box, 2 Whirlwinds, a Fellblade and maybe a Vindicator or another Dread. Ignore the 40k guys on the right, they’re for when I play 3/4th edition with friends, just wanted to see how much I’ve done
>>98307845It's limitation with no fucking benefit, it just shoehorns you into a template and then taxes you whenever you try to take anything to balance out or diversify your army. Rites of War put limitations on you, yes, but they also gave you something more interesting than "this tactical sergeant over here is slightly more brave".
>>98308620>it just shoehorns you into a templateAs does any force org system, because thats how "finite slots" work. >b-but theres no mechanical benefitThe benefit of taking a unit is the unit. The benefit of taking a unit over another unit you might need to unlock a slot for is that you do not need to take a character to unlock the slot.>but you cant take things to diversify or balance out your armySure you can, centurions unlock two aux slots and logistical benefits exist. It is literally just a skill issue if you cant make a balanced list.
>>98308544>Its a mechanically unworkable it's a Willpower Check>We know what divination and the powers of foresight do mechanicallywell we actually don't because they're a grab bag of special rules, Duellist's Edge (2) and a conditional 2+ to Hit and a Blessing for Precision5+, which are only linked thematically by the concept of the diviner "looking ahead" but Duellist's Edge only works in Challenges (and is built for force axes) and the Gambit too, and Precision5+ is worthless in a Challengefor a melee-focused legion a conditional 2++ makes sense (and if a Rule or Special Rule can reduce his Base Willpower, it's not even a 2++); thematically it's a doomed individual stuck on a path to the inevitable end of him>you cant batch roll that shit since specific pairs matter. use pairs of dice, you know, coloursare you not doing that to make Fire Groups go faster? are you not doing that to speed up resolving Effects? you're probably retarded thenit's a simple rule that would also confer a fair disadvantage as a -1 on all friendly Advanced Characteristics (except his own, obviously) within 12" in return for making this one guy a decent melee prospect, even though he can't even get AP2 without the axe which reduces his potential to win the Focus significantly lock him to a Primary Detachment if you're worried about him being spammed in Allied Detachments
>>98308655>it's a Willpower CheckIts a 2++ you retard. >>well we actually don'tWell we actually do, both curze and sevatar have rules to represent their premonitions. You should learn the fucking rules before pulling some out of your fucking ass. >because they're a grab bag of special rulesAlso wrong, and irrelevant, because they show the scope of premonition far stronger than "vague knowledge of ones death".>use pairs of dice, you know, colours>just buy 20 different colors of dice to make my retarded idea work
>>98308655>it's a simple ruleThat slows down the game, makes no sense on a thematic or narrative level and which is also wildly imbalanced, yes. >fair disadvantage of fear, a special rule everyone else has to PAY for lmaoYou get heedless, bitter duty, a 6+++, and nothing more.
>>98307747kino, pic?
>>98308650>muh logistical benefitShitty game design. Further evidence prime benefits are meaningless. They couldn't be bothered to write fluffy, interesting benefits or detachments, so they include HQ tax officer spam as a workaround for their cookie cutter templates.
>>98299401All these GK melee weapons are force blades only suitable for Librarians, Esoterists, and the like.
>>98308743Too bad I've already used plenty of them as power weapons.
>>98308741>Further evidence prime benefits are meaningless.>as evidenced by the really impactful prime benefit discussed>They couldn't be bothered to write fluffy, interesting benefits or detachmentsThey did both of those.
>>98308704Nta, but my friend have one kino vexila haha, everytime I see it I chuckle
>>98308704Love me vexillas, simple as
>>98308853Was better and fluffier in 1.0 and 2.0
>>98308704I've done a couple myself, they're cool AF. Currently painting up the left guy as part of a 20 man despoiler mob. No progress pics but I'm about halfway done with the squad.
Here is mine "vexilla"
>>98309196So /yourdudes/ are inspired by seeing a guy getting impaled?
>>98309262You could call it that.
I just use little Iron Halo type bits for my vexilla, and some antennas for the nuncio-vox
>>98309119Are those printed parts?
>>98309262Exactly. Ten times better then being expired by a hanging piece of cloth
>>98309674Yes. The vexilla parts I made myself in CAD.
I'm thinking about starting Solar Aux. I just think they're neat.
>>98310070I like them too!I've just finished building bunch of aethons.
Moritats. Fancy officer trim, or regular "I'm not like other officers" trim?
>>98310331Moritat aren't really officers, just killers. Even their rules reflect that now, they got the specialist sub-type instead of command.
>>98310347Yeah, that's why I was on the fence. Also, shit, maybe I've built my list wrong. They still get to take a detachment, right?
>>98310387Yes, they do still allow a detachment. Specialist just means moritats are allowed to join units, but none of their morale stats are used when that unit has to make a check. And the errata gave them back Bitter Duty, so which units they can join is also limited.
>>98310401Ok, cool, I can still run him solo. Not as optimal, but means I don't need to reconfigure my list. Thanks, anon.
>>98310416You can but i would not advise it. REason being he is gonna get shot to shit. If you are running him up the board solo, he is gonna take a lot of fire, and if you DS he is gonna get over watched fast.
>>98310070RIP solar aux legate marshal, you had a hell of a run in 1.0 and 2.0
>>98310434It's for ZM, so I'm hoping he'd be more okay. I'm not sure what other officer to put in, is the problem. Could probably slot in a herald and have some fun there, or go for a champion, but I'm not sold on any of the other options.
>>98307782Thanks. I think I had the leakage with the second jar I’m not sure.I checked and didn’t see any available dry pigment stuff available at the hobby shops on their webstores. What pigments did you use and what brand and was there really any difference?First time I think I got a defective hobby product that was the container so I’m still a little miffed right now.
>>98310464OH its for ZM, yeah that should be fine
>>98310434Nah, running characters solo is totally viable. I do it all the time with my AL. A single character model is very easy to hide, and it always takes a much more expensive units to kill even a 95 points moritat. At worst the opponent wastes a turn of shooting for one of their more valuable units.
>>98310540>>98310540>>98310540
Deep strike is cucked in 3rd and melee is kinda mediocre. Tried out a jump pack focused list and got demolished today. 15 sanguinary, 10 dawnbreakers, 10 assault marines, 5 angel's tears + some termies, a land raider, and a deredeo.Dawnbreakers seem overtuned, and I'm sure running 30 would be somewhat effective. What else is to be done without spamming?
