The weaknesses in Millennial design and concept art are quite obvious.

It is a generation whose inspiration stems from *Warcraft*/*StarCraft*, *Overwatch*, and *League of Legends*, rather than from real-world elements.

Pieces of hyper-detailed plastic that are not only tedious to paint to a decent standard but also result in units that are indistinguishable from one another on the tabletop.

How do we fix this? Do Zoomers plan to change this, or will good taste die out with the Perry brothers—now relegated to the ostracized realm of historical wargaming?

And no, it's not only a GW problem, most companies and 3d designs look like shit.

Yeah, millenials are the strongest generation in history and have destroyed classic and immortal concepts by being cringe about it. You're so right.retard
>>
Also it's literally just because plastic sculpting and 3D printing tech is as good as it's ever been. There will be a trend away from overdetailing once people are more used to the facility the tech allows. You are genuinely so fucking stupid to make this a generational thing.

I think the “less is more” rule needs to be enforced when it comes to 28mm scale models.
Just because you can put a lot of details on models doesn’t mean you should. And just because plastic is a sturdy material doesn’t mean the model should look like it is a hamster’s yawn away from having bits fall off.

Yes, OP is trying to troll but this is clearly the actual root cause. People will get better about this with time, and honestly you can go buy less detailed models right now they just aren't the GWslop everyone consumes and sees.

>or will good taste die out with the Perry brothers—now relegated to the ostracized realm of historical wargaming?

When you grow older, you are supposed to migrate to historical wargaming yourself. It has always been that way. First you should get some WW2 miniatures, and once you hit 50, you should have found some niche in the history of mankind that is yours. And then you should build armies for that.

>>
>>98307531
I’m surprised “greebleslop” isn’t a term yet.
So many models are overly detailed like they were meant for cgi for a movie or a 3d sculptor’s portfolio instead of being a 28mm mini meant to be painted.
It is okay for detailing. There shouldn’t be detail added to the point where the stl model looks like 10 greeble details were crammed onto every polygon.
>>
>>98307600
Those look lovely and the rust effect looks really good.
Best I can do is use a deviated rust paint or water rust colored paints into a wash consistency. Then water some more to be safe and apply.

Not all details are greebles. Greebles are non-functioning details to add complexity. Segmented plates on parts that are suppose to flex, different types of maille, flutes, holes for venting, ribs, studs, etc. aren't necessarily greebling.
>>
>>98307644
One modern design element I could live without is that fucking trim with the little triangles sticking out of it. If they got rid of like 90% of that, I'd love modern Chaos models way more. Just make it a plain trim or remove it completely.

5e warriors best warriors.
>>
>>98310160
I had a unit of 8 bronze-painted warriors back in 5e. Halberd and shield, chaos armor (wasn't automatic back then, dunno now).
They were legendary. In one battle they went through Big'Uns then Black Orcs. In another they defeated the Har Ganneth Executioners and Black Guard. All units larger than then. White Lions and Swordmasters. Hammerers. In another they put down an High Elven griffin.
They were strong and also always rolled above average.

>>
>>98310979
Yeah. The archetypical millennial is essentially a redditor or tumblrite.

What's funny is that millennials also pushed hating those exact people through places like 4chan and agreed with the sparklewolves about the boomers. I think gen z is just looking for footing in an alienated world so they're basically aping that so they can grow their own thing.
>>
>>98311328
Literally this. We see a whole generation of (now) old guys, who somehow refuse to move on to historical games, like everyone else before them did. When you turn 40, you are supposed to find historical stuff more and more interesting. If you turn 50, and space marines are still more intriguing to you than painting Romans, Napoleonic french or Ww2 Germans, then there is something wrong with your brain.

>And just because plastic is a sturdy materia
I believe this is the actul root cause. GW is competing with resin printers, so they try to focus on their strenghts. They make models with details a plastic printer would have trouble replicating, with leverages and bits which would break easily in resin.
Its a market thing, just as described by "How does digital piracy affect innovation? Evidence from software firms" by Wendy A. Bradley and Julian Kolev.
GW must innovate in ways that differentiate against competing printers. reason they also are focusing on making recognizable factions and trademarkable names and models.

>>
>>98307491
No, the thing destroying fantasy and scifi is the noisy minority of closeted fags and edgy beta males who let their likes and dislikes be tied to perceptions of 'wokeness'.

The death of fantasy and scifi is the percentage of people who would like OP pic if they were sculpted by a fit, attractive white male who posts pictures in a suit talking about Christian values, but would vocally hate them if they learned they were sculpted by a woman, a black, or a transexual.

That's what destroyed fantasy and scifi.

Is that a reference to that one scene from the king arthur and the knights of the round table movie? It's been a long time and I don't recall the name but I remember being really disturbed by that scene as a kid.
Anyway I really strongly disagree, I think detailed models are really fun. One of my favourite points is getting a model in my hands and noticing things that I would never have seen in the box art.
