▶Previous edition: >> 98272086▶What is /gwsg/?A thread to talk about Games Workshop's specialist and spin-off games which fall between the cracks.Battlefleet Gothic, Blood Bowl, Epic, K*ll Team, Man-o-War, Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game, Mordheim,Necromunda, Shadow War: Armageddon, Titanicus, Underworlds, Warcry, Warhammer Quest, Warmaster......and any other GW system and board game are welcome.▶Helpful resources (feel free to suggest additions!):https://pastebin.com/qq9N8V0V▶TQ: What gamesystem re-release/reboot will happens next?
>>98309844Did they buy the rights or did GW asked someone to take it over? How does this work?
>>98315017Do you mean after Necromunda or you're unaware of the Necromunda reboot?
>>98315705Just a question i had after Necromunda got rebooted, new 40k edition. In general what system does GW eye next to be updated. Some say BFG, but i cant see that they do that. Too many have their fleets or 3D prints.
>>98315864I have no idea how paying for rights really work. I guess you pay once for a certain amount of time?I cant see any violation that could happen. Thats why i guessed that when someone wants to take over they have to buy out the rights. But i dont see if this is any profitable with a Bloodbowl videogame.
>>98316759Kill team is next
>>98315035They are just taking over publishing from Naecon it's a way for the devs at Cyanide to keep their jobs and keep making content
>>98316759If BFG gets a reboot they'll stick it in the Horus Heresy ghetto, unfortunately.
>>98316837Does it need new rules? I cant think that it needs a big update, but i am not a Kill Team player.>>98317289Would makes sense as making some new sculpts. Regarding everyone uses Chaos ship designs, would some even need new models? I mean just use your old minis.
>>98316881So they buy the studio assets, including the rights? I mean you can sell parts but can you sell rights to another company?
>>98317580Not a big Kill Team guy either but GW have started to only add 1 new team per box and add more solo/coop modes. What kill teams are left for them to add? I think they might have to spice it up a bit to keep players (aka a new edition).
>>98317605They ran out of idea, although that sound extremely retarded because even if they do they can just scoop up those oop forgeworld model and remix into new unit
>>98317580>would some even need new models?Knowing GW they would probably change random aspect of the old ships. From layouts, to size of the model. So your older models will look off next to the new ones.
>>98317621GW has been running on fumes from around 20008. Specially for 40k related things. Everything is some old sketch or a random idea from 3rd or the RT era. There is nothing really new.
>>98317637based time traveler take
>>98317583i think they just bought the continued publishing for Bloodbowl. Cyanide is still making those games
>>98315874I am fairly certain, after many years of observation and careful thought, that the combat element of this particular skirmish wargame involves dice, it can therefore be inferred that an element of luck plays a significant part in how the individual matches play out, regardless of unit composition for either player.
>>98317881You jest, but the last new thing in 40k was the Tau.Even the fucking Kroot existed before the Tau.
>>98317988Primaris or the new space elf faction are the last new thing.
>>98318026>PrimarisOld sketch>new space elf factionExodites? They have been a thing for ages.I'm talking about actually new things like the Tau. Even the fucking squats and their Votan spinoff is something that already existed by the time 2008 dropped. The other actually new thing would be Dark Eldar and that is kind of stretching it.
>>98318039>sketchOh yes, this one sketch totally contained in it's image the entire plotline for fabius bile dressing up as a tech priest and creating an entire army of nu-marines that are better than the emperors marines and all contain traitor bloodlines, this to completely subvert every single space marine chapter in existence.
>>98318063No one is talking about fluff anon. No one sane cares about it. Specially after 5th being generousThe conversation is about actually new things to produce as models.Nothing is actually original everything right now is scrapping the barrel from random shit from the past. They can draw new things we have seen it (picture related), but for some fucking reason GW is just crawling deeper and deeper into old shit.Give me the fucking broccoli artillery or the molesting balloon aliens.
>>98318085>Nothing is actually originalAre you trying to say tau were original?
None of these games need updates. If GW wants to release new products, just keep releasing new starter sets. Rulebook, two teams of minis, rulers, Dice, terrain. Make it so every two teams has a starter set. Shuffle lineups every now and again. Add a few new scenarios or something.
>>98318090Not talking about gundam or making soviets in space for a guard regiment.I'm talking not using existing things that GW already had on hand. Tau where made out as a new thing, adding the Kroot that already existed to the new army.Unlike Necrons that by the time 3rd rolled they already existed as Necrons beyond the original Chaos android concept.
>>98318121Nu Necro at best needed something like 40k 4th. Consolidation of all the random shit and some fixes to rules that didn't work properly. For example current necro melee. It clearly was outgrown by the newer melee things.
>>98318126Okay so the bar is no longer "original" which means the primaris shit is back to being the last new thing alongside the 3rd major space elf faction.
>>98318129still what im hoping the /new/ version will be. just consolidation and faqs
>>98318130>primaris original>literally existed before>3rd mayor elf faction>already existedAre you going to call Custodes new too? Or perhaps Ambull are a totally new thing too?
>>98318121>None of these games need updatesthen>shuffle lineups now and then>keep releasing new starter setsSo.... keep making updates?I agree with your assertion btw, just not the rest.GW does not need to touch anything that has the slightest thing to do with rules, they are a MINIATURES company and making game rules was always a secondary concern to help push those models, all they need to do is keep making new models without scale creep forever, theyve been in business so long ad have made so much money that there is no excuse, with their 10,000 marine faction releases, that a marines player can't have a unique pose+sculpt for every single marine in his force.
>>98318142primaris are not pre-existing aspects of the game you fucking asshole.Exodites or whatever you want to call them, may have been a by-line int he fluff, but they were not a part of the GAME.The custodes are similar, though they were more than a by-line.
>>98318121Necromunda basically does need a new edition because it needs content consolidation and and could stand a balance pass on skills, the trading post, wyrd powers, weapon traits etc, and if they're doing that then there are core rules sections that could see a little clean up in terms of verbiage and campaigns and particularly scenarios could use work as well.It may not be strictly necessary, but there's more than enough justification for it even if you assume they have no ideas for how to improve the game, or have product line related goals other than that.
>>98318142>noone is talking about the fluff anonSo now you're backtracking your argument? The goalpost must move to wherever it makes you right?
>>98318183I have necrodamus 2026, I'm good.
>>98318150Again. Primaris already existed within GW, same as exoditesAll I'm saying that the last true new thing for 40k was the Tau. Everything else already existed somewhere in GW. Reason why I've mention squat/votan, they existed before and even have space ship in BFG for fuck sake.>The custodes are similar, though they were more than a by-lineAre you implying Exodites the dino eldar are just a random line? Or you talking about something else.
>>98318200>primaris already existedSource or GTFO.
>>98318200>exoditesYnnari for fuck's sake, how long has it been since you even looked at the game to not know anything??
>>98318193I'm just saying there is enough work to do to be able to justify a new edition. Not that I trust them at all.
>>98318356And I'm saying someone already did the important part of that work.
With how boring and formulated the "new" Necromunda specialist will be, they might as well not exist. Do every house gang need a medic and a backpack robot arm person now? These must be the new "meme" at the studio alongside with the "Everyone get flamer"
>>98318143By updates, I mean new rules that invalidate the old.If rules are finalized, you can release as many new miniatures, terrain, campaigns, scenarios, boxed sets as you want without punishing early adopters. The company gets to profit and the player base doesn't get rugpulled. You could buy starter set with the books, dice, terrain, Escher and Goliath and be set. A year later, I could pick up a starter box with the same rulebooks and dice, but Orlock and Cawdor swapped in, and join in with you without any problems.I dont begrudge companies releasing product that people CAN purchase; I oppose when they release product that users HAVE TO buy to stay relevant.
>>98318183I agree, and im going to pick up the new set because of this. I hope its a consolidation, though, and not the beginning of a repeating edition cycle.
>>98319155>>98316772Generally this kind of rules is a flat fee, plus a percentage and corporate oversight in exchange for (x) years of the license. If you don't pay up, someone else can bid for the license when it expires. Licensed computer games often put a development studio in a bind where they can't really make anything new, but they have to keep expending the same amount of effort on maintaining a game with diminishing returns. So they take a payout from a third party, hand over their codebase and server setups/data, and leave to make something else. New company usually pays less than the original one (because otherwise the licensor gets nothing at all), licensor gets "free" money, and the original dev team gets enough money to pivot off of whale-fishing hell into something actually fun for them.
>>98318979>>98318183Thats the reason why people buy or ask for company stuff. It makes the rules or units official on which the community can agree on. >>98318200I can agree with you. But Votan is barely Squat. So i would say that this is open for discussion if a complet overhaul is or is not new.
>>98319474Thanks. So it really depends on their agreement and talks, which we dont know.I guess since the team is still on board you last point is the most likely thing that happemed.
>wait to finally get put in a tournament>opponent can only play at retard hoursreeeeee
I'm not sure if this is the right place, but there was an old guide for painting the old far harad minis from MESBG. I cannot find screenshots, or the pdf anywhere. Does anyone know where can I find it?
>>98321554>But Votan is barely Squat.still 100x more supported by existing fluff than the asspull that primaris were.
Does anyone use fumbbl? fucking Kek at that one drama threads that's just 4 pages of people calling the OP a bitch because he brags about how good he is and refuses to chat during games and only ever plays vs new players to farm made up internet points. He's got like a 47% win rate in black box with like 9 games and like an 87% win rate in ranked with like 2,000 games from farming n00bs
>>98325826Got a link?
>>98325962https://fumbbl.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=33574
So what's all this about an Inquisitor reboot?I've gotten multiple emails about it from both reliable and unreliable sources saying almost the exact same thing.
>>98325986My thanks. Damn, what an eejit.
>>98326015Nope
>>98326019any time
>>98324156If you don't get an answer here, ask on the /WIP/ thread. They have a lot of painting guides.
>>98318150>Exodites just a byline. How New R U? They got quite a bit of fluff in Space Marine Renegades, Eldar 2nd Edition Codex, Codex Craftworld Eldar, got unofficial rules for 3rd edition in Citadel Journal, and have been one of the most consistently requested armies for over 20 years. They probably would have been added in 8th edition if GW didn't fuck up so badly with Ynnari.
>the board game of the miniature wargame of the movie trilogy of the epic fantasy serieshttps://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/mnlml6ai/board-games-coming-to-america-germany-and-australia/
>>98315017Why do people want reboots so much? It'll be a new edition every two years, changing up shit and making you buy all the books again. If the game is not in production, James cannot ruin it and if the game is good, the community will keep it alive.
>>98318143>they are a MINIATURES companyWhy do people keep making that mistake. GW is a Publisher, anon. They have to pump out new stuff all th time
>>98326630Unless their public listing is a blunt lie. They are a miniature company.
>>98326607Because they are addicted to FOMO.They have nothing in their lives and need to fill the void in their hearts with something they can pretend it is engaging into a live community.
>>98326607Monkey pawn.Rules and mini consolidation. Maybe some updates, new models. But with every rule or mini they make better they destroy one.And reboots keep the game and community fresh. When a game is completly finished, noone talks about it and it gets forgotten. Thats what some fear, sunken cost fallacy or fear noone wants to play the game you like.
>>98326630They are also a publisher. But mainly thats a side quest because the fandom lusts for lore or rules to use their minis with.
>>98318577Luckily it seems like there’s an alt-build for each specialist, as we saw a Goliath alt build already with a renderizer and bolt pistol.
>>98318577GW is creatively dead. Having different factions is too much work. So they'll make everyone equal and maybe change some stats around.
Reject Nucromunda, return to Necromunda
>>98326067YNARRI YOU STUPID BITCH
>>98326971What models are those? They look awesome.
>>98326996They're old old Scavvies, technically Confrontation which was pre-Necromunda 1995
>>98326559Isn't this just a reprint?I'm kinda surprised they didn't do a Blitzball board game or a Necromunda one
>>98327165Sales for LotR must be a lot lower than those two.
>>98327037I do really hope we get new Scavvy sculpts soon. Not really in the market for paying 300usd+ for the classics.
just had a turn that went >other guy blitzes with block ball carrier >both down skull>he both downs without realizing it's to a wrestle guy>my turn>try to do a 1 die push for the scatter with a block player>skull>reroll>skull>his turn>first action>dubskulls>reroll >push skull
>>98326559Moria goblin models are so cute. Peak design.
Anyone that can show me where I can download the Bastion of Law PDF? I've been out of the loop for Necromunda in a while and want to check it out
>get blitzed on in the one single spot I didn't put up blitz defense>proceed to get compensated via comedy mega dice where I remove 9 of his players over the next 3 turns
>>98326607>Why do people want reboots so much?New models in plastic mostly, I don't particularly care of LI but the tanks and planes that came out of it are really neat.
>>98326716>When a game is completly finished, noone talks about it and it gets forgotten.Chess, Go, Checkers, Poker, Billiards.
Is there a reason for why the meta changed to much for defensive formation in blood bowl? It seems like no one does the boat rule of 5 shit and everyone now sets their defense up on line 2 instead of line 3 I guess cause quicksnap got nerfed and no longer allows you to quicksnap covered players
>>98326971I whish I could be the original escher gang from Necro first edition, any escher since then, is horrible.
>>98326559Where's the terrain? Wew lad.For 30€ it's a maybe.
>>98327845who won in the end?>>98328730were you playing against snotling or something?
>>98328660https://litter.catbox.moe/wt2u56ixzdhjosui.pdf
>>98328901Those games are in the public domain and they are cultivated over generations as a gaming system/genre not a game property. When you want to compare those, you would compare chess to tabletop gsming or P&P not 40k or Pathfinder.Noone is talking about checkers anymore. The rest are only viable because everyone can produce such a game and there is a grown competition/gambling from a time when you had 3 different leisure games.
>>98330279>who won in the end?he did. he scored on that drive. I scored turn 5ish I think on mine. I should have and could have stalled for another turn. there was overtime and I could have forced overtime by blitzing his blitzer out of range but I took a 1 die on his thrower, got the pow but then he got a super good scatter and his bub caught it on a 6+ and he was able to hand off to the blitzer who was in range. if I had blitzed the blitzer and gotten a push it would have gone to OT and if I had gotten a less shitty scatter it was like a 3+4+3+ for me to score instead. I wasn't confident about OT. If there wasn't OT I would have gone for the draw>were you playing against snotling or something?Rats. I removed like 4 rats in one turn.
I think it's funny how people used to claim Undead, the bash team, was a hybrid team. The steam started with 2 mighty blow.
>get matched up vs some fag who has like a 70% win rate and a way better CR on fumbblhonestly cyanide was right. concessions are good. it's a waste of time to play unfun shit like this
>>98331009updategot blitzed on, again. managed to score a 3 or 4 turn, idk why he didn't stall. paid zero attention during the second half because fuck this shit, playing vs someone with that kind of win rate with a 12 win 2 draw no loss team that guy had wasn't going to be any fun and then I got a timeout and tied the game which was funny
>>98330284Oh I see, to you a game only matters if it is currently a corporate profit generation tool.
>>98331009>>98331080oh and apparently I permed 2 of his guys. I got a lot of SPP for that. 22, I skilled 4 guys. even though I really didn't play outside of my 2 offensive drives
I didnt see a Kill Team general, but my LGS just called and said that my preorder of Nemesis Operatives came in today. So if you were waiting on it, check with your LGS
>>98327165Germany gets a Deutsch!!! Version ofcourse but maybe it's a license thing because it's three countries. I remember seeing that game in stores in Dutchland a few years ago. Also Good News! Got an email from Fanath that my stuff is ready to ship. I ordered a big lizard to kroxigor in my team and a big frog as a coach.
>>98331009These must be the zoomiest post I've read in a while.>oh no is that some adversity? This the worst day of my life!
>>98331517i wish i cared, but i do not. kill team a dead
>>98326015>emails from sources lolwut? People have been playing =][=28 for decades.
>>98333095it seems like the faster people flock off to "dead" games the more GW is interested in bringing them back to gut them.
>>98332572>have to play a neck beard with over 9,000 games played>make a mistake turn 2 or get blitzed on or something>have to sit there for a fucking hour having zero fun.nah, fuck that. it's one thing if I enter a tournament or something and am seeking it out. but when it's match making and you don't really have a chance it's boring as fuck. better to not waste your time and to deprive the neckbeard of his ability to play fucking chess has ELO based matchmaking.
>>98333101It seems increadibly unlikely they're not remaking =][= Buddy has no sources or emails.
>>98333458It makes sense, the timing is right.I get into blood bowl? a few months later they relaunch 2016.I get into necromunda? Hey guess what! A new edition for the first time in a decade! So now that I've got an inquisitorial warband half painted for a few months of course GW will then start having quiet internal talks about rebooting inq.
That ELO shit is weird. Played a guy and won (and he thought he got diced, fuck him) and he has way more games played than me and a better winning percent and I have a higher fumbbl ELO and had one before we played and after we played
In case the Warcry players here haven't heard, GW talked about the game for a bit in the Q&A. They mentioned there will be Warcry news "quite soon" but they can confirm rules for the new Ogor minatures.
>>98333677Use this power responsibility.
>>98333677Have you ever heard of Vor:The Maelstrom? How about Crimson Skies?
Which is currently the most bullshit op Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game army?
>>98333677.>It makes sense, the timing is right.Tell you what, you hold your breath until they release =][= again. The timing is right, should be any day now.
>>98334098The only way to do that would be to never play a game GW has touched ever again....Which does have some merits.
>>98330348When it had 4 ghouls + 2 wights it genuinely was a hybrid team. And it used to get manhandled by stuff like Orcs. Genuinely dont know what the fuck the team is supposed to be now. With just 2 ghouls its so much worse. I dont see any reason to play it over Necro.
>>98336448how about you just keep playing the version of the game that was tested before changes were made?
>>98336456Is season three no good? Surely James would not ruin a perfectly good game.
>>98336448It was never hybrid. Rats, underworld and arguably new high elves are hybrid. Undead always won by removing other players with those 2 mighty blow mummies. there are different types of bash. there are str bully bash which is the old orcs and current Khemri and nurgle. they don't really win by removing, they win by strength bullying. and there's removal bash. see clawpomb chaos and undead and current orcs >>98336456>>98336590good morning, saar!>>98336505some of the teams got fucked up in certain formats, but undead, rats and dorfs are still good in progression

The Q&A for Necromunda is fucking weird. Why do gangers have a sv characteristic on their profile when they usually buy different kinds of armour? Range modifiers only affect cover?
I will play as Enforcers in the next edition and there is nothing you can do to stop me.
>>98339849WarCom accidentally revealed James' plan to turn Necromunda into a Kill Team type game with fixed lists/equipment and they were asked to try to calm down the community. Simple as.

had a fun time with a buddy on TTS playing Blood Bowlhe was playing goblins and i was playing Bretonniansthe most memorable was when I had 2 guys in his lineman's tackle zone he rolled a 2, rerolled with dodge and got another 2 and the ball bounced and deviated to my squire.Squire runs, hands the ball off to a catcher at the line of scrimmage who runs for the hills to make it 3-0.So many good laughs and we a good time!

I am not buying to sell now, everything I have I am holding and having it all reinvested with the aim to use it to fund early retirement.
>>98342558>>98342428>>98342322>>98342258>>98341907Do you people not have 401K accounts? I believe the guy who says he has $53k invested because it would be weirder if he didn't. how the fuck would someone retire unless he or she had stocks and or a house?
>>98333095I've yet to see anyone actually play Inq28 using the original rulebook or anything even approaching it. Usually it's just 4+ rules lite narrative stuff with cool toys.A shame. I bought an =][= rulebook and think the system is really neat. I have no interest in playing modern 40k but would love to get down with some Inquisitor.
>>98339658Once you get comfortable with the game I highly recommend trying out local league or especially tournament if possible. Great way to meet new people, to play against different teams and to improve in the game if you have the keen sense for it. Even though I consider myself to be a decent player I'm still amazed whenever I get paired against the top coaches of my cunt and see how small subtleties in positioning etc. can warp the field. Also even though the game-to-game or even turn-to-turn events can be huge salt mines in BB the people have been generally nice and decent folk, both in my scene and abroad.>>98340999I really like chaos chosen. One of the most honest teams at low TV that requires good fundamentals from the controlling coach and doesn't rely on excessive gimmicks. The addition of thick skull for goats in the new edition also makes the team surprisingly durable now. They are really disgusting team at high TV too if you manage to build them up. Not a top tier roster outside of ridiculously high TVs but still a solid and enjoyable option to have.
I gotta start protecting my players more. I got one orc blitzer hit one time and I remembered to not expose the Big 'uns and Blitzers and I guess Mr. Throw but the playing as OWA, Humans and Undead I expose the fuck out of my positionals, especially on defense because I can't orc wall and guard bully
>>98342796We don't have 401ks, it's called superannuation and it's forced, your employer needs to pay it, currently it's 12.5% or so. But you can pay extra into it which is great for tax reduction which I do.The 53k in shares is on top of my super which is around 150k. I want a comfy retirement because I can see the pension being gutted if it even survives
>>98342809It helps if you ignore all the poofters on instagram. I dunno if the original Inquisitor forum is still floating around out there, but that's where INQ28 originally came from before the ponces got hold of it and started making their shitty "zine" musing about the homoeroticism of space marines or whatever, and back at the beginning it absolutely was about just playing the Inquisitor rules with 28mm figs.I drifted more towards Inquisimunda(the original one based on classic 'munda) over time simply because I have too many cool conversion ideas for the small warbands of proper Inquisitor.
>>98342258Picking individual stocks is for mugs, it's essentially casino gambling. All the other "nerd culture" staples have either plateaued or are in freefall and the covid bump won't sustain GW forever - I'm not making any dumb ZOMG GW R GOIN TO COLLAPSE TOMORROW predictions, but if you're buying them as anything other than a reliable dividend stock you're retarded, line will not go up forever. 9999/10000 you could take the same money you're pissing about with picking individual stocks, dump it all in a global index fund, and make at least as much if not more gains with none of the effort and faff.
>>98342997Most of my money is in ETFs, I was thinking just buy 1k worth, so it's not a huge amount, but fun to say I am a GW owner
>>98342997It doesn't need to go up forever anyway. They pay dividends as you said for yourself. Those 70-ish euro every couple of month I get from them are a nice cashflow and not that much worse than other dividend payers. And as a hobbyist, I don't think it's too bad to own a couple of GW Stock, even if it's not the best of the best. It's cashflow is solid.

>>98342984You hit the nail on the head. I really wish I could get a game together for something like that, but the 40k people I know out here are more into the competitive bullshit than the true spirit of wargaming. Maybe I'll have to just put together a couple of warbands and some more terrain to browbeat my friends into playing with me.I at least get my weekly tabletop in, but that's all with my /hwg/ club.

My local TOW scene is 7 guys all with badly painted chaos warriors or Cathay. Not a single classic staple like O+G or High Elves like I'd see when playing WHFB in the 2000's. Historical gamers here just seem to randomly get everyone to buy a new game(Cruel Seas, Saga, etc) and then drop off the face of the Earth. We're in a bad parallel timeline, Matrix simulation, or purgatory type situation for sure. Ever go into a place on a whim and it felt oddly thrown together form scraps(no other customers, random products that couldn't be enough to pay for the lease/electricity/staff)? People who seem like they're running a script on you and don't have actual thoughts? Found places weirdly deserted(beach to yourself on a sunny summer weekend) or weirdly crowded(places swarmed during the day when you'd assume everyone would be working or in school). People just seem to want to be in the way all the time.
>>98318085The reason is simple anon, whilst old-heads grew up on a wide variety of media, the new guys are selected for being GW fanboys that will take any amount of shit in order to hold on to the ''dream job'' that is working for GW. It's like ai, they can't create anything new, just regurgitate the old in new combinations or straight up nostalgia bait (which I honestly dont mind because at least the older stuff had fun designs).
>>98344794What? No, the hiring policy explicitly excludes anyone who is a fan of the games, working for GW needs to be your priority, not loyalty to the community/lore.
>>98342979never thought id saygod im jealous of aussies
>>98344842I've seen press releases for job positions and I can see who actually works at gw (the former being explicitly aimed at fans) so you're full of shit.

>>98318090>>98318126Tau were fully developed *after* GW went public, so there's a pretty strong argument for them being one of the first truly soulless designed-by-executive-committee things in 40k.it didn't happen all at once. the shareholders took years to fully purge the company of anything creative or interesting and replace all the gamers with corporate zombies. there was still scraps of worthwhile shit being made across the board as late as '02, and a few small departments (like FW and SG) weren't completely annihilated until the late 00s.
>>98345210Part of the reason I draw the Middlehammer line at 4th edition rather than including 5th 40K as many seem to is that 5th seems to have been the last straw for Rick Priestly who quit a year later. Pretty much from mid-RT all the way through to sometime during 4th Rick was either writing the fluff or overseeing the people who were, so when he hits the point of Fuck It on top of all the other old guard types who left in the few years before, that seems to me the best time to point to as when the corporatisation finally went so far that the creativity of the people who made Warhammer what it was couldn't handle it anymore. Except the art guys, apparently, JB just wanted to draw cool grimdark shit and didn't seem to care about anything else, and Jes was happy to wipe his arse with his own Marine designs while pensionmaxxing for his apparently forthcoming retirement. Most of the other big name art guys seem like they'd also have been happy enough to continue working for GW if they hadn't gotten so stingy in that era.
>>98345267I'm pretty sure the only reason why 5th edition got true line of sight, was because corpo figure out they could sell additional shiny junk in the form of the laser pointer as some marketing thing. Can't remember which edition got the grey templates with some blue lighting inside. Maybe 6th? when they introduce the psychic phase.

I’m gonna try to stay optimistic about the new edition of Necromunda. The FAQ made it seem like the changes weren’t foundation-rocking, and frankly the game needed a bit of clean up.Worst case I have 9 years of content to fall back on if I don’t like it.
>>98345687>It might be up to you to be the change. Make some demo forces and terrain. Not that anon, but in my personal experience the culture has shifted way too much towards competitive game. Even historical have faggots optimizing the shit out of armies. Best thing I've manage to do so far is people playing OPR and even that is catering to the tournament mentality.Guess that wargames are the cowboy movies of the table top world. Used to be popular but the newer generations are not interest in them and the older guys just want to play something even if its not a proper wargame.

>>98351368How much does judas goat shilling pay?
>>98348234That FAQ was still loaded with marketing platitudes and half promises. They also make it sound like the rules kept changing in N17/N23 which wasn't the case as the core ruleset was basically locked in once the House books started coming out with the only major change being the addition of Vehicle rules later. Even then the changes from N17 were mostly just around relabelling and better defining existing stuff to hand the transition from singular boxed set rules to an ongoing edition. E.g. 'Pistol' Trait becoming 'Sidearm'. The only reason it was a pain to get the rules prior to N23 was because GW didn't have an actual rulebook in print and you had to get one of the boxes. There could have easily been an N20 (maybe even N19, can't recall exactly when the gang comp stuff from the House books became the norm) book that would have covered all of that. With N23 (or whatever year it might end up) just being the addition of the Vehicle rules from Outlands.
>>98351419I never said it will be good. I'm buying it because nee gangers are always useful. If the new one is shit, will just play the old edition
>>98348701Its okay that you fell for bait bud, it happens to everyone. Smile!
>>98351446N23 changed a fair amount of things. Not nearly enough to call it a new edition, but it wasn’t just the addition of vehicle rules. But in any event, yeah, GW is gonna GW, and I’m not believing everything word they said in the FAQ or anything, just that nothing seemed particularly egregious and I’m willing to give it a shot I guess. The new save mechanic seems odd, but I’m waiting to see it in full before I pass judgement.
>>98351566N23 was a collation of everything that had been done to date. The vehicle rules were the last significant change to the actual ruleset. Everything else was just putting the rules that had more or less been finalised since at least 2020 into a single book for purchase outside of a box set.
>>98351752I'll stick to the Necrodamus 2026 pdf.
How do you play defense without just basing all mens and then cage diving? Like I'm winning, but I'm winning by basing all mans and then break tackle cage diving. I have no idea how to play defense without doing that and I have no idea how to play offense without either removing players or getting into a shoot out and then basing everyone and taking the ball off of him. I have a 60% win rate in match making doing this and I'm sure it's not the best way to do things cause some coaches just destroy me.
>>98351752N23 rulebook had changes to the capture system, the wound table, serious injuries, multiple skills, and template weapons to name a few.I’m not saying the changes were groundbreaking, but it definitely added changes past compiling rules.
>>98353669>>98351752It was basically the change from 3rd edition 40k to 4th edition 40k.4th was just 3rd, but will the changes, faq, errata and random rules baked in.

Blood Bowl question How do you set up to mitigate the Charge! kick-off event? I'm pretty new to the game, and am commissioner for a small league of players that are even newer than me. Charge! has now come up many times, and players are starting to grumble about it, and I don't know what to tell them besides "eh, it happens". I think the key has to be offensive setup but I don't know what specifically to do. Any tips?
>>98356905eh, it happens, it's a non-serious dice game with overt variation of power between varying factions and a large reliance on random "quirky" outcomes. If you want balanced competitive meta where the players own tactical intellect makes or breaks the game, then blood bowl is not for your group, do not let the aesthetic keep you playing a game not suited to you.
>>98356905you have to put like 9 of the guys on the line or like a square off the line and risk a perfect defense so the other guy has to at least roll dice to get the ball. I get charged on like every fucking God damn game but I don't get scored on. I used to when I was new, but not now. Jimmy Fantastic claims he will make a vid showing how to set up soon. You have to have 2 players on the line or 1 square off the line in each wide zone and a decent number of guys in the center on the LoS. I usually only have the ball carrier and 1 or 2 other catcher/blitzer types off the LoS. Sometimes it means you can't get great LoS blocks or you need to move your guys who were on the LoS after kickoff to give you the assists>>98356511I was watching a Jim vid and I think I have to do the thing he said, pressure early and then like learn how to elf screen or those chevron things for turns 6, 7, and 8 to stop the score without pressuring and make him roll dice. I'm not very good at the incremental turn the thumbscrews shit. Diving is nice because you don't need a multi turn plan. Plus break tackle blitzers dive so fucking well if he doesn't have a good or full cage
It's crazy how war dancers used to be able to leap anywhere on a 3+. Even assuming a both down doesn't jar the ball loose a 2 die up hill with strip ball vs no sure hands is a 44% and 69% with a reroll.A 3+ and then a 2 die up hill where you can't roll a skull or both down is 56% with a reroll.even now is you are vs strip ball a ST4 carrier can't help you, you need to make the dodge or leap in at least a 5+, preferably a 6+wood elves used to be so fucking OP in res style games where people had a limited number of skills and no one cared if the dancer died because he'd be back next game. the only good thing about was they would RAPE the shit out of Lizards3+ and a 2 die where you just need to not skull is a 65%, 88% with a reroll. a 5+ dodge with dodge and 1 die strip against someone without block or surehands is literally a coin flip, without a reroll
>orc linos have S access>chaos renegade orc linos do not >as though someone would take the time to make a block claw mb orc lino and that that wouldn't be a pain in the ass to build with the current rules >claw mb isn't even as bullshit as claw pomb was
>>98356905It's 1/12 chance to happen and it can happen to any or both coaches. Sometimes you'll just have to risk it; say you just have to be greedy for a 1-2 turn TD. It is one of the many whacky things that just happens sometimes and these perfect storms just are something that you'll have to learn to live with. I won my very first EurOpen game 3-0 thanks to back-to-back T1 and T2 charges. It was bullshit we both knew it, but in the same vein I had really easy 1D block vs. no-block blitz into open access to the mid and backfield both times. And I have had the privilege of playing against skaven who got 3 charges in a single game. Thankfully I played elfs and was able to match their bullshit with my own and we manage to get a decent game out of it. I have also experienced and seen games where the charge has turned out to be a negative thing when the things didn't turn out so well for the defence and suddenly their team is way out of position for a long time.If you are a slow team against a fast team, don't overcommit on the LoS, protect your flanks and don't leave easy open lanes into your backfield, maybe even have an extra player or two for ball securing. You don't need an enemy charge to ruin your offence, just some bad block dice or a 1/9 pick-up fail with a too greedy full frontal formation and the elfs just run past you.If you are fast team against a slow team, plan for a side swap if the enemy overcommitted on one side, or just plan to forfeit your LoS blocks if they reinforced it too much.Slow vs slow? May the best man with better positioning win.
>>98357872It's a real shame they didn't FAQ that in. Goes against their streamlined statblocks (necro&UW getting the shambling/skaven postional buffs, wights getting thickskull due to being a skeleton AND tackle due to being a human blitzer etc.) and renegades wouldn't break because of a 1 extra guard access.
>>98345354I liked that set, but I wanted to use the small and large blasts for terrain, like a stargate-looking centrepiece would have been cool. Obviously I never actually got around to making that happen.
So... I got Necromunda's fat rulebook before it goes out of print and replaced with the new WarhammerTM Necromunda Skirmish. Is it enough to play? Does it contain the previously published books? Why is it so thicc?
>>98358169No, use rule from herehttps://www.necroraw.com.ru/You need>Core rule>Gang rule>Campaign>Trading postIf you're new to the game, it's best to play without all of the items that said "originates from Book of Judgement : Black market trading post" from the website. Then you can bring them in once you're more familiar with the game, but many of them are broken, or just not very fun to play against.
>>98358169Its enough to play as long as you then get the book for your gang of choice. Its so thick bc it incorporates previously spread out rules (mainly the ash wastes stuff).
>>98358169>Is it enough to play? Not at all. >>98359220you can, but only for leagues>>98359251how is black box fucked? it's less bad than it was >>98359262no, some of the rosters like the orcs and humans were different, there was a 150k treasury cap, you could just buy inducements, not every inducement was in the game, they had a weird berts team that wasn't the plasmoid fanfict and wasn't what we got >>98359302they never added pact because it wasn't an "official" roster. it came out after GW abandoned the IP and also back during the LRB6/CRP era people only ever played pact to make degenerate 1000k tv kill teams
>>98359369you can make custom rules packs for fumbbl leagues and you can make a lrb6 rules pack
>>98360035Shalom.
Could a necron overlord model act as a stand in for one of the newer necron caster like models? The Cronomancer etc? I don't have the new models like cronomancer etc. Also, what about the Despotek unit? Basically the one that looks like an immortal on steroids? What could act as a standin for him?
>>98361061this is in relation to kill team btw.
>>98361061>>98361097you're playing a GW meta munchkin competitive, if you don't have exactly the box GW sells no one is going to play you.
Can someone post the van saar book
>>98361061Talk with your opponents, nobody can answer this for you in here.
What are the rules for determining a tie breaker in a Blood Bowl league? in our current league we have 2 spots left on the ladder to make it to the elimination bracket for finals but 3 teams with a 3-2-2 spread of matches.
>>98362728Ask your league commissioner, it should have been decided when the season was started. For example our tabletop league has the following: 1.Points 2. TD difference 3. CAS difference 4. Net TD+CAS difference.
>>98362762I basically am the commissioner, just kinda retarded/new to this and didn't account for a 3 way tie to happen in this instance. Will probably go off that
>>98362776Well now you know. Don't sweat it too much we all make dumb mistakes on our first time. If your coaches are really competitive it is good to have these set up beforehand as it might affect their decision making (try to win big or be satisfied with the 1-0 etc.) tho the SPP and cash rewards should be a reason enough already.
What are good color themes for Dark Eldar ships?
>>98363350I seek some inspirations that are still within the Dark Eldar logic.
>>98362776If you dont post like a fag you might get more help.
>>98362728depends on the league
>>98362728Give each player three beers, then give a lineman from each team knives and turn them lose on the pitch. First one to die is out of the bracket. Other two keep the knives.
>>98364854I mean the first set of replies I got were helpful enough so I don't need schmucks like you
>>98365392>give players beersNewfag, players are the game pieces, the IRL humans are Coaches.
>>98367036>>98365392>>98362776>>98362762>>98362728the way that makes the most sense is like 1. points, obviously2. head to head3. strength of vanquished opponents4. wins5. touch down differential6. cas differential 7. TDs allowedthough, I'd probably do1. Points2. head to head3. strength of vanquished opponents 4. wins5. TD allowed (this discourages players from just straight dabbing on people)6. points vs common opponents7. wins vs common opponents8. (TDs scored + Cas made) - (TDs allowed +cas received)
>>98366975>schmucks(((You))) slipped
I'm gonna play my first Mordheim game in like over 10 years tomorrow Curious to see how well it holds up
>>98367103Are you winning, son?
making my inquistorial agent kill team for the upcoming league, and i don't like to have have unpainted minis. breachers or exaction squad first? I have sisters and kasrkin already to go. importunately i don't know my opponents teams yet.

>>98370326Breachers, because the storyfag in me likes the idea of an Inquisitor comandeering a ship and going "also, fuck it, gimme those shotgun dudes. And a beer."
>>98369989Yup>Marienburg Mercs vs Cult of the Possessed >Simple one-off battle >Mercs pretty much just advance down the streets in a group>Cult beastmen encircle them while the Possessed and Cultists approach head on and wait until they're in charge range >Magister draws first blood with a lucky bow shot (fucker didn't get any good combat spells, only wings)>The Merc group catches one of the cultists of guard and attempts to change him into a porcupine with like 5 bow shots and one pistol shot, somehow only manages to stun him>Soon after charges roll and everything pretty much changes into a huge mosh pit >One of the Beastmen is late to the party due to falling down from a roof like a dumbass (was hoping there would be a diving charge opportunity)>End result: 3 mercenary Champions, 1 Marksman and 1 Swordsman taken out on one side, 1 Cultist, 1 Beastman and 1 Possessed taken out on the other (fucker was formidable, but had terribly unlucky rolls), Mercenaries fail their second rout test and retreat>In the post battle sequence (not a campaign, but still did it for fun) the Possessed somehow became even more insane, and in effect stupid, while two of the Champions got a hand and leg injuries respectively. The Cultist died, but he didn't do shit so good riddance. Also one of the Beastmen found a poisoned well and got a tummy ache Overall pretty fast, simple and typical Mordheim battle I suppose, nothing special.I had fun, but after playing some other skirmish games lately I definitely think Mordheim rules show a lot of jank and some undercooking. But WHF vibes and aesthetics are unparalleled and do a lot to carry it
>check gw news>URUK-HAI MENTIONED>frantically scroll through article>made to order characters that can already be readily had on ebay if you don't already have them even though everybody does already have themmy balls are so blue
Any idea when the new Necromunda box will be up for pre-order?
>>98371911no one gives a fuck, shill, buy an ad
>>98371968Yes because no one is interested in a buying these products, it's unknown how GW is a multi billion dollar company
Super League Rules, no mascots, Chud.Orcs are yurobowl orcs where you can only fit one guard.>1 troll>2 Block Big un's >1 tackle blitzer>1 guard blitzer>1 leader thrower>5 line orcs >1 goblin>3 rerolls >1 appois 1200 TVI'd want at least one more guard. No stack on the humans is also gay as fuck. >1 block Ogre>1 mighty blow Blitzer>1 guard blitzer>1 block catcher>1 wrestle catcher>1 leader thrower >1 wrestle lineman>5 rookie linemen>1 hafling>3 rerolls>1 apo>1 dedicated fan is 1270. I'd rather have a mascot than the wrestle on the lino and the dedicated fan. I also really want break tackle on one of the blitzers so I can cage dive
>>98372310Stacking doesn't cost extra? Dayum.
>>98372472tier 1 can't stack on any players who start with block, dodge, mighty blow or guard and no one can stack with block, dodge, mighty blow or guard as skills picked for the stack. So no mighty blow tackle, no mighty blow break tackle no block guard no blodge.you can basically put wrestle strip ball or wrestle tackle on a guy. like you can't stack block and surehands. I guess dorfs could do like wrestle leader on a runner for 40K instead of a wrestle runner and a separate leader runner or a block leader runner for 50kyou could also do like juggs break tackle on one of the blitzing big guys
this might be the play
>>98360365>>98360357Can you make custom rules packs for one-shot games as well?
I want to start playing Isengard in MESBG but their Battlehost box confuses me. Do I really need 20 Warriors and 24 Scouts? Is Isengard such a model-hungry faction? Their army lists are rather odd as well. Army of the White Hand having no access to Uruk-Hai Captains is quite puzzling.
>>98371013Thank bb. It didn't have the van Saar book though.
>>98373225The other one shared ITT did.
>>98372894yeah, but you would have to play them in a specific group/league you made. you don't have to play a whole season or tourniment, you can use gamefinder within a league
>>98371614
Does anyone play Inquisitor? Why not?
>>98378132I feel like Inquisitor is in an somewhat awkward spot where you'd be better off just playing a combat heavy Dark Heresy campaign. Also the non-standard mini scale probably makes it harder to get into
>>98373225Oh shit, Im sure that where I got mine. They must've trimmed it. Sorry lad
Warhammer Bloodbowl and fumbbl really need ELO based match making. when you get matched with a normal person it's fun, but if you get matched with some grognard you just know you are going to be bored a shit for an hour. cyanide at least has it right with the conceding. those grogs shouldn't be allowed to have fun or play the game
>>98380894>play 30 year old game>waaaah why are all these grown men beating my ass?!?!Figure it out kid, try a game more your own age.
>>98381384I have an over 50% winrate, faggot. they have ELO based match making in chess. when the ELOs aren't matched it isn't fun. why should I wast 45-60 mins being held hostage by a gayass unfun game?
>>98381397>50% winratethat's sad, that literally means your wins are entirely luck based, no skills, get gud faggot.
>>98381485no, I win more than I lose. that's not just getting lucky.playing with an ELO gap isn't fun and it's why BB2 and 3 have zero players and such a high concede rate
>>98381509You'd lose more more with elo MM and would end up here bitching about elohell. Ladder already tries to match your rank and arena is is akin to a tournament so anything goes.as far as pairings go. Maybe try to learn something from those free coaching sessions.imstead of stroking your ego here.
>>98381651fumbbl blackbox doesn't do ELO match making and ELO match making would make the game more enjoyableyou sound like a fucking faggot for seething about skill based match making. conceding on grog so they can't play is basedevery game is improved by skill based match making
>>98381651oh and most tournaments use swiss style which is a skill/elo based match making thing to make it more fun, you gay retard
>>98373225>>98362153you can download it from pdfcoffee.
>>98372931The current edition of MESBG is a complete travesty. The listbuilding is frankly retarded. For Army of White Hand you need a shitload of wildmen. The battlehost box works far better for Muster of Isengard. You dont need scouts there but they can at least be used. You want some berserkers though for that list.
