>>98309844Did they buy the rights or did GW asked someone to take it over? How does this work?
>>98315017Do you mean after Necromunda or you're unaware of the Necromunda reboot?
>>98315705Just a question i had after Necromunda got rebooted, new 40k edition. In general what system does GW eye next to be updated. Some say BFG, but i cant see that they do that. Too many have their fleets or 3D prints.
>>98315864I have no idea how paying for rights really work. I guess you pay once for a certain amount of time?I cant see any violation that could happen. Thats why i guessed that when someone wants to take over they have to buy out the rights. But i dont see if this is any profitable with a Bloodbowl videogame.
>>98316759Kill team is next
>>98315035They are just taking over publishing from Naecon it's a way for the devs at Cyanide to keep their jobs and keep making content
>>98316759If BFG gets a reboot they'll stick it in the Horus Heresy ghetto, unfortunately.
>>98316837Does it need new rules? I cant think that it needs a big update, but i am not a Kill Team player.>>98317289Would makes sense as making some new sculpts. Regarding everyone uses Chaos ship designs, would some even need new models? I mean just use your old minis.
>>98316881So they buy the studio assets, including the rights? I mean you can sell parts but can you sell rights to another company?
>>98317580Not a big Kill Team guy either but GW have started to only add 1 new team per box and add more solo/coop modes. What kill teams are left for them to add? I think they might have to spice it up a bit to keep players (aka a new edition).
>>98317605They ran out of idea, although that sound extremely retarded because even if they do they can just scoop up those oop forgeworld model and remix into new unit
>>98317580>would some even need new models?Knowing GW they would probably change random aspect of the old ships. From layouts, to size of the model. So your older models will look off next to the new ones.
>>98317621GW has been running on fumes from around 20008. Specially for 40k related things. Everything is some old sketch or a random idea from 3rd or the RT era. There is nothing really new.
>>98317637based time traveler take
>>98317583i think they just bought the continued publishing for Bloodbowl. Cyanide is still making those games
>>98315874I am fairly certain, after many years of observation and careful thought, that the combat element of this particular skirmish wargame involves dice, it can therefore be inferred that an element of luck plays a significant part in how the individual matches play out, regardless of unit composition for either player.
>>98317881You jest, but the last new thing in 40k was the Tau.Even the fucking Kroot existed before the Tau.
>>98317988Primaris or the new space elf faction are the last new thing.
>>98318026>PrimarisOld sketch>new space elf factionExodites? They have been a thing for ages.I'm talking about actually new things like the Tau. Even the fucking squats and their Votan spinoff is something that already existed by the time 2008 dropped. The other actually new thing would be Dark Eldar and that is kind of stretching it.
>>98318039>sketchOh yes, this one sketch totally contained in it's image the entire plotline for fabius bile dressing up as a tech priest and creating an entire army of nu-marines that are better than the emperors marines and all contain traitor bloodlines, this to completely subvert every single space marine chapter in existence.
>>98318063No one is talking about fluff anon. No one sane cares about it. Specially after 5th being generousThe conversation is about actually new things to produce as models.Nothing is actually original everything right now is scrapping the barrel from random shit from the past. They can draw new things we have seen it (picture related), but for some fucking reason GW is just crawling deeper and deeper into old shit.Give me the fucking broccoli artillery or the molesting balloon aliens.
>>98318085>Nothing is actually originalAre you trying to say tau were original?
None of these games need updates. If GW wants to release new products, just keep releasing new starter sets. Rulebook, two teams of minis, rulers, Dice, terrain. Make it so every two teams has a starter set. Shuffle lineups every now and again. Add a few new scenarios or something.
>>98318090Not talking about gundam or making soviets in space for a guard regiment.I'm talking not using existing things that GW already had on hand. Tau where made out as a new thing, adding the Kroot that already existed to the new army.Unlike Necrons that by the time 3rd rolled they already existed as Necrons beyond the original Chaos android concept.
>>98318121Nu Necro at best needed something like 40k 4th. Consolidation of all the random shit and some fixes to rules that didn't work properly. For example current necro melee. It clearly was outgrown by the newer melee things.
>>98318126Okay so the bar is no longer "original" which means the primaris shit is back to being the last new thing alongside the 3rd major space elf faction.
>>98318129still what im hoping the /new/ version will be. just consolidation and faqs
>>98318130>primaris original>literally existed before>3rd mayor elf faction>already existedAre you going to call Custodes new too? Or perhaps Ambull are a totally new thing too?
>>98318121>None of these games need updatesthen>shuffle lineups now and then>keep releasing new starter setsSo.... keep making updates?I agree with your assertion btw, just not the rest.GW does not need to touch anything that has the slightest thing to do with rules, they are a MINIATURES company and making game rules was always a secondary concern to help push those models, all they need to do is keep making new models without scale creep forever, theyve been in business so long ad have made so much money that there is no excuse, with their 10,000 marine faction releases, that a marines player can't have a unique pose+sculpt for every single marine in his force.
>>98318142primaris are not pre-existing aspects of the game you fucking asshole.Exodites or whatever you want to call them, may have been a by-line int he fluff, but they were not a part of the GAME.The custodes are similar, though they were more than a by-line.
>>98318121Necromunda basically does need a new edition because it needs content consolidation and and could stand a balance pass on skills, the trading post, wyrd powers, weapon traits etc, and if they're doing that then there are core rules sections that could see a little clean up in terms of verbiage and campaigns and particularly scenarios could use work as well.It may not be strictly necessary, but there's more than enough justification for it even if you assume they have no ideas for how to improve the game, or have product line related goals other than that.
>>98318142>noone is talking about the fluff anonSo now you're backtracking your argument? The goalpost must move to wherever it makes you right?
>>98318183I have necrodamus 2026, I'm good.
>>98318150Again. Primaris already existed within GW, same as exoditesAll I'm saying that the last true new thing for 40k was the Tau. Everything else already existed somewhere in GW. Reason why I've mention squat/votan, they existed before and even have space ship in BFG for fuck sake.>The custodes are similar, though they were more than a by-lineAre you implying Exodites the dino eldar are just a random line? Or you talking about something else.
>>98318200>primaris already existedSource or GTFO.
>>98318200>exoditesYnnari for fuck's sake, how long has it been since you even looked at the game to not know anything??
>>98318193I'm just saying there is enough work to do to be able to justify a new edition. Not that I trust them at all.
>>98318356And I'm saying someone already did the important part of that work.
With how boring and formulated the "new" Necromunda specialist will be, they might as well not exist. Do every house gang need a medic and a backpack robot arm person now? These must be the new "meme" at the studio alongside with the "Everyone get flamer"
>>98318143By updates, I mean new rules that invalidate the old.If rules are finalized, you can release as many new miniatures, terrain, campaigns, scenarios, boxed sets as you want without punishing early adopters. The company gets to profit and the player base doesn't get rugpulled. You could buy starter set with the books, dice, terrain, Escher and Goliath and be set. A year later, I could pick up a starter box with the same rulebooks and dice, but Orlock and Cawdor swapped in, and join in with you without any problems.I dont begrudge companies releasing product that people CAN purchase; I oppose when they release product that users HAVE TO buy to stay relevant.
>>98318183I agree, and im going to pick up the new set because of this. I hope its a consolidation, though, and not the beginning of a repeating edition cycle.
>>98319155>>98316772Generally this kind of rules is a flat fee, plus a percentage and corporate oversight in exchange for (x) years of the license. If you don't pay up, someone else can bid for the license when it expires. Licensed computer games often put a development studio in a bind where they can't really make anything new, but they have to keep expending the same amount of effort on maintaining a game with diminishing returns. So they take a payout from a third party, hand over their codebase and server setups/data, and leave to make something else. New company usually pays less than the original one (because otherwise the licensor gets nothing at all), licensor gets "free" money, and the original dev team gets enough money to pivot off of whale-fishing hell into something actually fun for them.
>>98318979>>98318183Thats the reason why people buy or ask for company stuff. It makes the rules or units official on which the community can agree on. >>98318200I can agree with you. But Votan is barely Squat. So i would say that this is open for discussion if a complet overhaul is or is not new.
>>98319474Thanks. So it really depends on their agreement and talks, which we dont know.I guess since the team is still on board you last point is the most likely thing that happemed.
>wait to finally get put in a tournament>opponent can only play at retard hoursreeeeee
I'm not sure if this is the right place, but there was an old guide for painting the old far harad minis from MESBG. I cannot find screenshots, or the pdf anywhere. Does anyone know where can I find it?
>>98321554>But Votan is barely Squat.still 100x more supported by existing fluff than the asspull that primaris were.
