In the event you actually play a a game against an opponent with painted models, is it weird to ask them to stage a diorama photo afterward or before the game if the terrain is good for it? Feels awkward but at the same time I’d take it as a compliment if someone asked me to do that. Never seen it done but it seems like sharing one another’s hobby results like that would be fun. Nothing ever seems to actually line up in a cinematic way during the games themselves.

I think Votann should lean more into either "advanced technology" or "repurposed mining equipment." Every other non-Tyranid faction either leans fully into "we have purpose-built war technology" or "we have slapped-together, repurposed equipment," but Votann does both, and I think it suffers for that.

>>98320383>Was never a thingThere's a canon story where the Administratum are just sending guard regiments to a world so they could take 1 city. The planet had like a 95% casualty rate, and the fighting got so retarded and absurd that the was finally taken, but to get over the wall they basically created a ramp made of corpses.Only for the Administratum to realize they had been sending guard regiments to the entirely wrong planet, so the entire war was fucking pointless and nothing but a waste of human life. Then there's that even more recent example of the WH+ animation where the commissar and some kasrkin come to take all the last remaining ammunition from a guard fortress which had already ran out of ammunition pretty much. And left those guardsmen to be overrun and die to the orks because they couldn't even defend themselves due to having no ammo.Only for all that collected ammunition to just be thrown in the trash essentially because the Administratum's had no space to house the said ammo.Meaning the death and sacrifice of those guardsmen meant nothing, it was a waste of life for no real reason beyond bureocratic decision making. Both of these are perfect examples of why the Imperium is self defeating.

>>98320853It's because at the moment SoB are unironically simply worse than marines. They pay similar points costs. Battleline are 100 points, marines pay 80 points for MORE effective wounds. or 100 points for gravis battlelins, which are 15 t6 wounds. sob are 100 points for 10 t3 wounds. And the slap is that the gravis guys all have heavy bolters. So comparing them to the equivalent, Retributors, are 100 points for 5 t3 wounds.Infernus marines do their gimmick better. Infernus marines are also 20 t4 wounds. SoB cannot field anything that is equivalent to 10 heavy flamers. The closest you can get is retributors, which is 4 heavy flamers for 100 points, which is 5 t3 wounds.SoB unironically pay more or the same points, for less wounds, less toughness, and the worst part: less shooting. LESS of everything for the same points.Even the sob units that are good on paper, like Vahl, Castigator, Immolator, are still not that special when you look at the Marine special character roster. I would pay my left nut for Vulcan or And the ultimate slap in the face is when marines have a similar but strictly better version of the same rule. Compare Bringers of Flame to Firestorm Assault. Not only is Assault strictly better rules wise, it's ALSO 2 dp instead of 3.In the past, people would say that there are fewer marine models on the table so sob had numbers, but that's simply not true anymore. Every marine being t4 2w and t6 3w means they are effectively harder to kill. Fewer models doesn't actually matter, the firepower-to-kill is higher for the marines. You also have to inflict 2 wounds before the fist marine gun is removed as a causality, whereas sob begin removing firepower from the first wound.Trend continues with vehicles. I would love to have Repulsors and Impulsors. The Castigator doesn't even match up against the Executioner.Marines are the most popular army, ans whenever you play against them, you're just playing a better version of yourself. Unironically.
>want to buy predator and vindicator tanks for my black templars>need to wait until space marine codex comes out to see if they get sent to legends>rumour of them getting refreshed as wellSometimes I envy fake factions like dark eldar getting 1 model a decade so they don't need to worry about their range getting obsolete.

With that said the problem is that terrain quality has gone in the direction of being bland unstylish L shaped terrain instead of a middle ground between tournament fairness and good appearance to make the imagination of dudes fighting easier and more immersive.A diorama reused for wargaming may not work because there will be limited spacing for models to move about or even room to roll dice. But what’s an example of good wargaming boards that hit a balance between the diorama and the tournament fairness?

The "I have a gun poking out of my chest" chaosfag unit is only better right now because gw wants to sell it, and frankly I'm surprised it has sold so much considering that chaos fans are all race traitors, trannies and hipsters who want to play "the bad guy faction" despite marines looking better in every way and being a faction for honest Christian players. honestly shocked that chaos hasn't been discontinued outside of maybe some new "40k horde mode" gamemode where both players play marine armies and have to kill waves of inferior chaos counterparts that have behaviors dictated by a card deck.
Trying to build an armoured speartip list with a bunch of assault terminators but I'm kind of stuck on how to fill the last few hundred points of the list.So far the core is:>1x5 assault terminators with lysander in a land raider (might add an ancient with tip of the spear)>1x5 assault terminators with a chaplain with the liberator enhancement in a land raider>1x5 devastators with multimeltas with a captain (to get the free purgation doctrine) and armoured commander inside a repEx from reserves>2x5 scout squads for actions and secondaries>2x5 intercessors for ObSec behind the terminator blocks (potentially 2x10 inside rhinos if they remove the dumb restriction?)>land speederThat's 1840 points and I have no idea what else to add.
>>98321584Cut down to 1x5 intercessors and include a second RepEx.
>>98321596Isn't 4 big ass tanks pushing it in terms of physical space? I'd upgrade lysander's squad to a 10 man inside a spartan but james sent it to fucking legends and the event I'm using this list for doesn't allow legends units.
>>98321584Bigger units and fewer action monkeys. Take and Hold doesn't do many actions or spread across the board, there's only a couple of action secondaries and one is about sitting on objectives which you're already doing. Denying your opponent unit kills is more important than in 10th.

>>98322207>So a 40k chaos sorcerer in fantasy world would be a lot less effective than the ones born and trained there? He'd be more powerful, probably. Chaos Sorcerers aren't restricted to the eight Winds of Magic, they can use raw warpstuff although usually aligned to one of the three gods who each have their own lore of magic. The main risk would be that he'd have more powerful that he ever imagined available in realspace so he'd be extremely vulnerable to blowing himself up. He'd also have no idea what the Winds are and if he tried to use them in their prismatic form he might spontaneously combust, turn to metal etc.
>>98322189>Any way to make a drop pod viable in 11th?No. Marine have plenty of options for deep strike infantry without a bulky and expensive pod.
>>98322070No chosen, ngmi/10Also you don’t have to use a 2DP for 1k games, I think that’s something they intended for armies post-codex, but they’ve said you can use 3DP detachments for 1k games.Bikers: GoodForgefiend: GoodVindy: bad, too expensive, no good split firing which you’ll want in 1k. Unless you already own the model, consider switching to a pred destructor, but I think the forgefiend and rhino is enough hull.Terminators: a little points costly for 1kConsider a murderwing box. 5 raptors and a jump lord is good in 1k no matter the detachment.5 chosen with a red corsair reave captain and a master of executions support is a great MSU too if you don’t want to use an epic hero.Cypher goes real hard in 1k too.
>>98322207it depends on how adaptable he is.for one, sorcery, defined as doing warp shit by contacting demons, works similarly enough, so he has a good enough starting ground from learning, but the fantasy world has a lot of wild magic around that normal wizards have to learn to wield and that takes a long fucking time to do well without getting overwhelmed, meanwhile 40k psykers have a natural genetic predisposition for opening mini-warp portals that allow them to bring more warpstuff from the realm of chaos to the physical world, a power that is almost moot in a world already saturated with magic but that is still a special skill compared to the average wizard in fantasy, which can give him an edge in certain confrontations.
>>98322236A funny point of comparison is that due to being able to interface with the immaterium more safely, wizards in Fantasy have a far better theoretical understanding of its nature which you can read in various quotes in the TTRPG books. 40k Psykers are far more unga bunga in comparison and most barely have any academic theories on how shit works.

>>98322037>inb4 chaos corrupted necrons>This could be a great opportunity to bring Chaos Androids for Dark MechanicumI won't rule it out
Good morning anons.Let’s say hypothetically I managed to work at GW in the 40k department about future models and stories. And hypothetically this job was enough for me to have a house and family. And hypothetically I proposed the idea of a rulebook allowing for Horus heresy models to be used in main 40k basically creating a “bridge” for firstborn marines and their stuff to be used in 40k.How likely would I be shot on sight for even thinking of bringing up this kind of stuff?
>>98322291They would tell you, "John, we need to see you in finance. Please come alone."The rumors are that the beancounters don't want cross-system stuff purely so they can track how well each system sells.
>>98322291>Steeeeeeern!
>>98322291You'd be gently reminded for the hundredth time that "firstborn" is being ignored from now on, and 40K Primaris units outsell everything in HH 10x over.
>>98322291>Let’s say hypothetically I managed to work at GW >hypothetically this job was enough for me to have a house and family.might as well hypothetically imagine you gained the ability to fly while your at it. GW pays its employees dirt because of the “passion tax”>hypothetically I proposed the idea of a rulebook allowing for Horus heresy models to be used in main 40k basically creating a “bridge” for firstborn marines and their stuff to be used in 40k.>How likely would I be shot on sight for even thinking of bringing up this kind of stuff?very unlikely, its probably been suggested numerous times before behind the scenes because it makes sense, and it theoretically expands the amount of models to buy for 40K, but its always been shut down for some reason or another like wanting to keep track of how successful each model range is, or not wanting ranges to cannibalize each other, or thinking their slightly different scale makes them look awkward next to each other, disagreements over the lack of aquilas on HH models which would look weird for 40K, ect.
>>98322291I don't think the people making the models and books and rules have any say on the matter, it very much looks to be an issue with whoever is managing budgets. You would have to convince them that there are ways to keep track of what sells for what, and that cross compatibility sells more than separated ranges. Not a good chance.Anyway, my suggestion is always to keep the stuff in separate "apocryphal" supplements, rather than directly mixed with the 40k ranges and their codexes, it keeps things neatly arranged and labelled just like the suits like 'em.You should probably fight the good fight for making the books more compatible with one another, rules for allies and mercenaries and coalitions and whatnot, it would be a good scaffold to have before suggesting the apocryphal stuff as one of the things people can add onto their armies.
>This chapter is elite even among space marines>They have a vast armory with an unheard number of {COOL BIT I LIKE}>Known for their {Brutality/reasonableness}I've had enough of this shit, I want Space Marine Chapters that are absolutely shit and garbage.>The Malice Decided (corruption of Malleus Descendens i.e. descending hammer) Chapter is a space marine chapter that has spent over 7000 years trapped in a small pocket of stable space within the eye of terror, they deal almost exclusively with Chaos Cults that spring up in the solar system of 3 habitable planets they are trapped in. Their equipment is heavily mix and match with both different marine marks and civilian marks adapted for their large hands. With their pride and jewel being 3 civilian grade dreadnoughts originally owned by the local PDF (i.e. sanctioner pattern automatas).Their chapter culture has degraded over the years as a result of pragmatic decisions, as they've had to give concessions to the civilians that support them to prevent open rebellion, as they otherwise see them as a drain on very scarce resources. They perform civilian police duties, frequently co-mingle with the local populaces in social events that are an unholy abomination of knightly jousting and combat tournaments and death races and MMA. A local noble who likes to play Inquisitor is working on triggering a daemonic incursion to make sure they don't get too complacent, but he might be playing with forces he cannot really understand.>>98322194>they have several psychic vassal racesGiven that the T'au are confirmed to operate as space NATO I wonder what happens when a vassal race suddenly becomes VERY powerful. Do they renegotiate a more favorable vassal deal? do they pretend to do that while getting them into a debt trap of some sort?
>>98322291They'd probably just explain to you why they won't do that.Though who knows, they seemed keen to push Custardes as cross game. That's either a sign of changing attitudes or an attempt at recouping for Custrannies torpedoing the playerbase.
WHO HERE GSC AND WHO HERE JUST?
>>98322344>what happens when a vassal race suddenly becomes VERY powerful.what makes you think that can happen? of course they wouldn't be allowed to, either because the tau empire chokes too many resources out of them or straight up rewires their industrial/tech-development sectors to be part of (read: reliant on) the empire's own.
>>98322291If you are called Alan Bligh please see your oncologist with outmost haste.
>>98322291Don't ask me how I know this is the way forward to achieve unity in the ranges, it just is, trust the plan:make one (1) space slann
>>98322291Minis that can be used in two different games make them lose money
>>98322340How do you justify the intent of removing tactical squads even though they had outsold literally everything else for decades?
>>98322386They were replaced with the better selling Intercessors.
>>98322386That's not even what happened, anon. The tactical squad outsold each individual fantasy kit, not the entire range combined. But the game of telephone has turned it into the latter statement.
>>98322385This is literally not true and they just made the new custodes for both games.
>>98322392>Update the range>But not tacticals>Give them shit rules on purpose for 9 years>They STILL sell so much GW puts an investor notice explicitely saying they won't retire the kit because it still sellsDunno man at this point not updating the unit looks counter productive.
>>98322386>how do you justify [what happened] given [my delusional beliefs]?
>>98322386The core kit from the core faction outsold everything (except uruk hai the year Two Towers came out). There are new core kits for the core faction outselling everything now, but sales are less concentrated because the faction design has changed so much and the plastic range expanded. There's nothing extra special about "tactical" squads, they're just marines.
I can't post a link but the dow4 necron/mechanicus gameplay is up. I like how diverse all the factions seem to be in playstyle.
>>98322405Is it that time again to pretend that absolutely no one even in the history of 40k bought or used tactical squads and that's why they deserve to be squatted?
>>98320333Gorkanauts only move 8" and shoot on 5s, you can safely avoid it
>>98322407They are the quintessential marine unit. The core and face of not just the faction but of 40k as a whole. I question why someone would even dare sugest the thought of replacing them. There can't be any benefit from it.
>>98322410Yeah I liked the Dominion function for the Necrons. It gives me some hope that Tyranids, if they get a DLC, will have an interesting faction rule as well.
>>98322411>you are mocking my [absurd beliefs]?>well now I'm going to say I have more [absurd beliefs] but about you!
>>98322422Anon that has been said here time and time again.
>>98322402>>Give them shit rules on purpose for 9 yearsTacticals have been since long before Primaris arrived.>>They STILL sell so much GW puts an investor notice explicitely saying they won't retire the kitI doubt they still sell well. >Dunno man at this point not updating the unit looks counter productive.People forget but marines got a refresh not long before Primaris. The tactical kit is not that old all said, and they've had several Horus Heresy kits you can use as well.
>>98322420If the game doesn't flop and they're able to add more factions with the same flavorful gameplay variety it's going to be quite the cool little game
>>98322424>my [absurd beliefs] are facts!
>>98322418>They are the quintessential marine unit. That's a weird way of looking at things. The "face" of the marines and warhammer as a whole was the Mk7 armour marine. It's now the MkX armour marine. Originally it was the MkVI armour marines.
>>98322431The current tactical squad kit is from 2013. That was 13 years ago. Btw intercessors are getting an update that changes fuck all.
>>98322386If reality doesn't align with your assumptions maybe you should reassess your assumptions.
>>98322431NTA, but they do sell well only because of Deathwatch. Everyone plays Deathwatch with just tactical spam.
>>98322431>>98322456>intercessors removed from store before tactical squad
>>98322229Thanks, chanon
>>98322456>The current tactical squad kit is from 2013.Yeah, that's not long before they changed direction for the marines.>Btw intercessors are getting an update that changes fuck all.Probably they'll just make them look more fucked up and battle damaged like the Armageddon ones.
>>98322465What?They literally don't.Deathwatch players use their unique Veterans, then they spam Indomitor killteams and they spam Deathwatch Terminator killteams.I have not seen a single DW list with Tacticals.
>>98322418They were the quintessential marine unit of your and many other peoples' childhoods, but it's been 9 years since primaris took over. The replacement already happened, they just didn't stop selling old kits to an increasingly small section of customers.
>>98322284I'm printing some cards and kitbashing stuff to make a Space Crusade board, what should I paint the chaos space marines?Alpha Legion because they are always up to some bullshit and would therefore work with orks and necrons? Red corsairs so I can have an unifying theme in pirate dudes?>>98322354We're chillin' the timeout corner is comfy because you know we won't stay here for long. Besides all 1DP together is decent enough to keep our head above water.
>>98322465I don't think Deathwatch sells well. Whenever I rarely do see them it's usually the Primaris kill teams.
>>98322475Oh I thought people built all of those with the tactical kits, my bad.
>>98322469The multi part kit. Two different push fit intercessor sets were just released.
>>98322471>like the Armageddon onesI want everyone who says this to check their fucking eyes because even though GW keeps repeating in all of the marketing the models absolutely do not show it. Having 1 helmet per 5 with a mk7 facemask isn't "bringing back old armour marks" and ir sure as hell doesn't make them a proper sucessor or update for tacticals.
>>98322418Tacticals have stopped being the core and face of space marines or 40k the moment the intercessor was revealed, don't live in denial.
Does armageddon have BA decals? Will the starters?
>>98322478It's also been years since twitter got renamed and it hasn't made the decision any less stupid and no amount of time passing ever will.
>>98322489Oh, you thought they used tacticals as the bodies for their stuff? That's a fair mistake, sorry for being harsh.Their veterans actually are a slightly bigger scale than the tacticals. Back when they came out, we all thought they were a sign of a tactical update, then Primaris came.
>>98322492I never said that though? I said they looked more fucked up and battle damaged.
>>98322505I mean it was. For chaos and 30k. Proving how unnecessary the whole primaris thing was.
>>98322513I play CSM so I do like the scale of the new Legionaries but I wish they weren't so ornate. The old ones were nicer in that sense.
>>98322492nta and I'm not going to argue that they are wearing old marks or damaged armor, but the armageddon guys and the space wolves have branched the potential looks of various bits and bobs of markX to be effective references to some parts of older marks, like bonding studs, fused kneepads, absence of trim on a pauldron, or some other plates removed or replaced on the standard mkX look.
>>98322284Chaos Androids are already back as of Genefather and ArchmagosThey're unrelated to Necrons and are shells built to house daemons
>>98322527>are shells built to house daemonsDeveloped by chaos votann, perhaps?
>>98322452>and warhammer as a whole>warhammerObvious newfag is obvious
>>98322498>armageddonbro, check the store page or warcom.>how about starter setsthe warcom articles for the starter sets make no mention of decals, so you’ll have to wait for the boxes to come out to get confirmation.
>>98322533You think 40k isn't the dominant force in Warhammer?
>>98322526But why would I want mkX cosplaying as old marks instead of the actual old mark pieces like the corsairs?
>>98322531Maybe. I can't confirm or deny that because NOBODY EVER POSTED AN ARCHMAGOS PDF AND MY LOCAL BOOK STORES DONT STOCK WARHAMMER SHIT ANYMORE
>>98322534>Only Goffs, Evil Sunz, and Bad Moonz>A single skull and bonesgood thing I still have the ones from the tankbustas kill team
>>98322537No, you're just a newfag and/or tourist because you call it "Warhammer". This is a very new phenomenon that's only started happening in the last couple years and instantly outs you as having no idea what you're talking about. People who actually play 40k just call it "40k" 99% of the time and "Warhammer 40k" the rest of the time, and have done so for 39 years.
>>98322556It was worty thou you newfag
>>98322561No one ever actually did that, Rick Priestley brings it up as a joke
>>98322556I wasn't referring to 40k though, I was referring to warhammer as a whole, hence why I said "warhammer as a whole."
>>98322564You wouldn't know. You weren't there.
>>98322566Nobody says "Warhammer" meaning 40k and Age of Sigmar together, nobody thinks of them as the same thing. It's just newfaggotry through and through.
>>98322577>Nobody says "Warhammer" meaning 40k and Age of Sigmar together40k, Fantasy, LoTR, and all the other stuff GW sell. It's so common for people to do this that Games Workshop actually changed all their branding to just be Warhammer.
>>98322588they did that to stop boomer karens from harrassing their employees about buying catan or ticket to ride
>>98322544and then some of the imperium shit flows into the ork decals, so you have to do some schizo zigzags to split them. I can see what they were going for because those three klans fill the three main paths for an ork army those being melee footsloggers, heavy dakka, and vehicles, but its still really weird that they didn’t just make two decals to fill out all of the klans, and then use the rest of the space for marines to have black templars, space wolves, and marines malevolent representation.
>>98322588>It's so common for people to do this that Games Workshop actually changed all their branding to just be Warhammer. No it was never common and was an obviously out of touch corpo move that everyone thought was off putting at the time. You're basically telling the thread you're so new you arrived after that gay little hammer with the eagle wings logo was created and the rebranding happened.
>>98322596That would have been an expensive fix for a minor problem, and wouldn't explain why they changed their website.>>98322598It's always been super common to refer to warhammer as warhammer.
>>98322538Nobody cares what you want, it's clear you don't buy shit nor actually like 40k.
>>98322598>No it was never commonWhere are you from?Serious question, not trollingIt's very common here to call it that here
>>98322490>multipart kit shelved in favor of push fit:^)

It is like the closest example of a personal experience with this inglorious basterds meme I have ever had.
>>98322628Astartes is technically on warhammer +, but you can find it online. It's nicely done, not sure if it's a must watch. Fairly sure it was remixed for WH+, so it's better on YT anyway.
>>98322354hello broodbrother
>>98322648>no one anywhere ever said Warhammer when referring to 40kBut no one was referring to 40k. But also it's extremely common to refer to 40k as simply warhammer when speaking to people who don't give a shit about wargames.Like if you were speaking to your mom about what you did at the weekend, it wouldn't be strange to say I played some warhammer.
>>98322648>usaThere's your problem, it's very common in the UK and has been since I started playing (we had a Warhammer club at school in like 2003)I'm not doubting your experiences but it's not the same where you are and it's a British company, of course they would follow British trends.
>>98321958kinda wished BL would do some other books in other settings besides 40k at this point or just some Necromunda novels
>>98322679As a TOWfag I would simply like a second novel. I still can't believe they didn't release one with Cathay.
>>98322672I believe you there's a cultural difference but even still I think it's odd that everywhere on the internet I discussed it with people from the world over it was still so regularly called "40k" for decades that seeing people just say "Warhammer" is immediately weird to my eye and I've only even noticed that happening on the internet since around the time Space Marine 2 came out.

>>98322684As a wee young lad in Scotland, around since around the Eye of Terror, we'd always refer to it as warhammer, and then specify '40k' or 'Fantasy' as necessary. If you and your friends were going up town to Games Workshop it'd be to buy some warhammer. With the advent of the internet and most communications being text based, and being old enough to not want your friends to go shopping in the town with you, it's probably rarer to use just 'warhammer' though I probably would do so if referring to GW's games more widely.

Some games (such as against EC) you might even need to sacrifice them by placing them right up against their deploy just to stop a T1 charge on your deployment. The Alphus, cool sculpt as it is, is pretty useless, and you don't need the rockgrinders as the only thing that really benefits from them are 5 man abes, flamer acos want to deep strike to do missions and take out backfield picks, it's host so get more neos, at least 60 is good. Make sure to have 5 Tool acos or at least a clamavus in your home objective.

So, the Sanguinor is now pretty useless, because it no longer fights first, so when the opponent charges one unit of yours, it can DS in engagement, then the opponent just kills him.BUT.Pile in requires that you pile in towards the closest elegible target and is 3 inches, so maybe the sanguinor can ds 1.999 inches away from the most lonely marine in a squad and mess up with their pile-in?

>>98323181>But what if the Custodefag wante to be an unfun sandbag in TWO game systems?I'd look down on them all the more.
>>98323209That shit was retarded
>>98323209Yeah, it was fun.
>>98323209I don't miss the rules, but I do think it was a good idea for the sake of increasing marine customization.Sad that the rest of the marine isn't as customizable as betore. They could have made swappable breastplates and greeves, for instance.
Should I get a 3rd dunecrawler
>>98323188I just want to not be a normie and playing custodes seems very normie but they're basically an army for two game systems at the same time that look very easy to assemble and paint and that's very tempting...
>>98323220The real question is why don't you have three already?
Space Marine changes I would make.Combine Intercessors and Assault Intercessors, then make it so the ability they get is based on whether you choose a ranged kit or a melee kit.Combine Infernus, Hellblasters, and Desolators. Do the same - their ability is determined by the kit you choose.Once more, we combine Aggressors, Eradicators (Melta and Bolter) and Heavy Intercessors. Same as above, with Heavy Int making the unit gain Battleline.Basically, I think a lot of the datasheets should be condensed and made more modular
>>98323224wait, you’re talking about yourself? the fuck are you doing? just start off slow and work your way up. the game sucks, so a lot of the appeal is hobbying and lore, so you’ll want to thoroughly enjoy those aspects too. believe me, custodes is a noob trap to get you in, then when you want to branch out of the golden boys, you’ll have to buy a second army. just stick to the army you genuinely enjoy 90% of, and go from there.>it’s compatible with horus heresy thoughyou’ll have plenty of 40K games to play, and with way more variation in armies.
>>98323255>Basically, I think a lot of the datasheets should be condensed and made more modularBut why?
>>98321974Twice Dead King is at least true necron suffering kino
>>98323255These are extremely boring and pointless bookkeeping changes, why bother?
>>98323260>>98323285Space Marine roster is too crowded.
>>98323297This does nothing to make it less crowded in any way that matters. It's just a different way of organising datasheets.
>>98323255Okay, but why? You're creating some cluttered datasheets for no real gain so far as I can see.How would these interact with the rule of three? What characters can join the units, what stratagems can they use? What if GW decides this is going to be an edition without points? The juice is absolutely not worth the squeeze.
>>98323255>combine intercessorsAs it should be. Tacticals could be given melee and assault squad could be taken without jumppacks>combine special weapon squadsGood, devastators 2, let's go>combine gravisGoodSo far so good
Would you ever get a 40K tattoo?
>>98323323Absolutely not.
>>98323318I will admit this was my real intent, I think Devastators should come back and take over what Hellblasters, Infernus and Desolators do. Then add in an inevitable las and grav option.
>>98323323I'd hardly get a tattoo in the first place
>>98323332I mix primaris models with HH marines into oldhammer squads

>>98323360There was an official pauldron in the Kill Team Cassius set if you feel like wasting money on an old Firstborn-sized set of different random marines.I got one on a discount and split it up into characters.
I hope phobos marines get restructured in the new codex, there's too many units and the use cases are all fucked up. Spreading random abilities and equipment out around 4 datasheets might have made sense before they updated scouts and made them elite (why can they teleport for free lol), but now it's just dumb.I want eliminators in units of 6 and reivers to not be shit tia.
>>98323369I'd rather spend 100 bucks on a few custom pauldrons to print
>>98323368Trust me they don't want to play against custodes either. They're a shitty skew army, annoying to play against unless you gun up for them, in which case they fold like a cheap suit. Either way not very fun to play.
>>98323323I’ve had a lot of conversations with people who get tattoos, and from they say they pay for the more advanced ones like in your pic, I could literally buy another army. so why would I want a tattoo of a bad moon when I could buy a bunch of models to make a dread mob for my bad moon?
>>98323350Shit, thanks for reminding me that I wanted to order that one
>>98323377are eldar fun to play/play against
>>98323323there’s a dude at my LGS who shared this tattoo, and I often will show it to other people (including here) because I think its funny. so no, I likely will not.

>>98323420this is painful to see
>>98322614Not liking how they've replaced the things I liked is not liking 40k?
>>98323373You can say that about every single primaris infantry squad. It could all be condensed into the same core squads 30k has. Tactical, despoiler, assault, tactical support, heavy support, recon.
>>98323398>fun to playthey have a very high skill ceiling but the rush when you pull off a match is better than any other faction except drukhari.the downside is that all their units fold like tissue paper, suck at everything except their one designated role, and their success depends on using movement tricks that have been slowly given to other armies with more durable and versatile units so the eldar are slowly losing all that made them stand out>againstagainst a bad eldar player it's a fun shitstomp where you mow down their weak effeminate gay elves in hordesagainst a good eldar player it's extremely frustrating when their ubermenschen genetically engineered hypersoldiers dodge every move you attempt and cut down your coolest units by combining crazy movement with fifty billion stratagems and other conditional rules that only work in very specific situations except the good eldar player always knows how to force such a situation

>>98323479can you post any of your firstborn models? with a timestamp, of course.
>>98323617I can when I get home. Would that change anything about the point? Why would someone that likes older armour marks want mkX modified to look like them instead of the actual thing? >>98323634because generally speaking the people that complain the loudest about armour mks are the people that don't actually play the game
>>98323658If you're not doing this for the people that do care about those armour marks why do it in the first place? The people that don't care about them are still not gonna care. It's just half assed and in poor taste.

>>98323517Drukhari really is one of the most exciting armies to play. You have just enough speed and damage and you have to pull off everything perfectly or you just bounce and get your shit stomped but dancing that razor's edge is exhilarating.

I also like the purple for the little minions. thanks doc
>>98323517>>98323679>they suck but that just makes winning more funyou could say this about every faction that sucks
>>98323713NTA, but it's not that they suck (that is currently the case, but that's by no means assured for someone starting a collection now), but that they're very all or nothing in a way that also makes their balance skew to either broken or awful just like their results.
>>98323709thanks ! i was going for old man head, but toned it a bit down as it got excessive

>mutilators ended up being a barebones kit with no options beyond swapping arms between each other>obliterators are still stuck at an awkward squad size of two and are bundled with an unrelated modelWhy oh why did they not just make oblits/muts a dual-build kit and make a separate multibuild venomcrawler? God damn. I would buy three venomcrawlers if they were a solo kit.
just realized all land speeders have the marines without backpacks, are they never expected to get off in a hurry?do they have them in a hidden compartment and have to install them on each other slowly and sluggishly as they're gonna be wearing a totally unpowered ton of ceramite on their backs?
>>98321029That would be amazing
>>98323767He's been feeling it for years. I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Bolt rifles are for fags.Tacticus armour is for fags.Phobos armour is for turbo fags.Gravis armour is kinda faggy, too.Especially 8th (GAYth edition) Gravis.Your vehicles don't use treads? Gay fag.Redemptor dreadnoughts are homosexual. No special/heavy weapons in squad? Faggot.Repulsors are for queers with extra faggoty taste.Suppressors so gay they don't even sell them anymore. It's very simple GW, we bought Leviathan because of the Terminators. We didn't buy Armageddon because it's all primaritrannies.Just remember this simple rhyme - !Only Primaris in the box? Better sell off your Games Workshop stocks!
>>98324112Nobody cares

Anyone else find the 40K spaces are infested with leftists, transgenders, and woke weirdos? It's getting hard to game or enter spaces with normies. It's frustrating.
>>98324140Literally just release a Mk 7 squad, assault squad version with the classic square-ish style jump packs, and Castaferrum Dreadnought for Horus Heresy and publish 40k rules for all the 30k units. And of course the new weapons have copyright-friendly names. And I'll never forgive GW for turning Space Marines into human Aspect Warriors with all the mono-weapon squads instead of the superior and tactically flexible squads we used to have.
>>98324327The lore are at the mercy of the kits GW sells.Roboute has a big, expensive and very well selling model for the space marine army.GW doesn't even sell a plastic generic inquisitor model. From this, you should be able to immediately intuit how the conflict will go.
>>98324327If something ever happens it will be like a mini war between inquisition and marines and then will be solved. Like the inquisition vs space wolves one. Besides, Guilliman is not controversial enough to cause a civil war unlike the star child
TIL deathwatch dont have astartes pilots or drivers. They mod humans to become vehicle cyborgs whos body is the vehicle, and they use the cream of the crop from navy veterans to do it. Neat.
Would a bolt-action bolter be too much bolt?
>>98324327Someone should tell this inquisitor that Bobby has the express, psychically screamed into his mind permission of the Emperor to serve as full regent of the Imperium. I'm sure she wouldn't throw such a fit if it was Malcador doing all these things.
>>98324327This is from the Indomitus crusade, and it was successfully resolved peacefully with Guilliman disbanding the greyshields and sending them as reinforcements to the chapters. So... there you go.Completely solved.
>>98324421This really should be all astartes vehicles. A marine's potential utility is absurdly wasted on the job of piloting a rhino.
>>98324426This was before that happened. This was when the Primaris where a legion strength force 1 shotting Imperial threats one by one instead of split up to die as drops in a bucket in a million war zones.
>>98323779>it's 250lb with the backpackwhat the fuck? i could easily bench a suit of power armor? that doesn't seem right
>>98324436a reminder that an actually custodes pilots their vehiclesincluding this shitbox speeder
>>98324436I've been saying it forever, but people come with all sorts of excuses why it has to be marines. I think it should at least be an option. I can understand marines being the primary choice, but in certain situations you could imagine chapter serfs to extend their services to such support roles. At least in indirect combat roles, like piloting transports and fighters (we know legions had some fighter support with human/servitor pilots), but at the same time some fighters like the Xiphon had marine pilots even though originally they were piloted by augmented humans.I, at least, just put cultists operating my CSM vehicles. Makes sense for a warband with limited resources.
>>98324327> We are going to go against the literal son of the emperor and his space marines and all other space marine chapters that recognise his divinity.are the inquisition retarded? The black templars alone would be a headache not even including all the other chapters that would side with guilliman over the inquisition, i cant really see any first founding chapters siding with them
>>98324444Y'know how time is fucky in the warp? Well, equipment stats and other numbers are equally fucked in real space.
>>98324462It's just one random inquisitor with a bee in his bonnet, not the whole organisation. There's a lot of conflicting opinions and radicals with stupid ideas in the inquisition at the best of times.
>>98322860Dont be discouraged anon. It's just summer and people are lazy. I'll comment on your next model.
>>98324456I can see the case for things like landspeeders, where the open-top is necessary for keeping it light, and so anything less than an armoured marine would create an intolerable vulnerability.I can see the case for the Xiphos, where it's taking advantage of marine reaction speed and their tolerance to g-forces or something. It's not a good case when you consider that you could get these same advantages out of something equivalent to a specialised skitarii, but at least there is a case.I can even see the case for marines as gunners, with power armour letting them stick up from the hatch and still be reasonably protected from small arms fire. But for any role inside a fully enclosed tank or APC, this really should be serf/servitor duty.
>>98322860im too lazy to post my models. Also often than not despite all the good comments the one comment critiscising your paintwork will stick with you.
>>98322860I've been checking the general threads daily but haven't seen the June collage yet. Did it not get posted?

>>98324486what's funny is that, in 30k, the planes used to be manned by humans and then upgraded into servitors
>>98322860Post it in the next thread, I want to see if I missed it and why.
>>98324272That's because when it comes to Space Marines, old ACTUALLY good and new ACTUALLY bad. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
>>98324490It did. Check next thread.
>>98324380>Primarchs have only gotten stronger and more numerousThere used to be 20 of them, now half of those are dead, you are delusional.
>>98324436>have human driver pilot the rhino.>his inferior human senses fail to notice a landmine>lose the 10 generically engineers super soldiers riding in the back
>>98324436I am 100% certain there is lore somewhere that most Astartes vehicles are just piloted by servitors. At most it's one single techmarine with a few servitors assisting.
>>98324427It's not. It's about the 500 Worlds Project, which is very recent and current
>>98324436don't techmarines do that? they don't count as astartes so it's fine
