As the resident WAG ballwasher, I'm not even going to pretend that Cubicle 7 has a satisfactory release schedule. That has me thinking that they're not selling much product, otherwise they'd be making more product to sell. Is it due to lack of interest, thieves like me stealing everything, or both?
>I actually bought their core rulebook because I'm old school enough to like having a hard copy of the rules at the table
>no way that I'm paying for their mishmashed them/they lore blind half-written adventures though, they should be paying me to make them playable
>>
>>98357148
WANG was a left over from another company, also why it always sucked and now with strange splat books (like the Space Wolves ones), IM is basiclaly DH just dillutted with flavour packs sold as pairs of books (Inquisitor, Admec for now)
Really, get DH and be happy in 815.M41, forget the Fall of Cadia, the plsitting of the Galaxy and whatever the fuck is happning in M42, like the whole sector being in the Emperor's lights,. but mere astropatic jamming turned the whole place into shit somehow
>>
>>98357172
I've done DH, DW, and RT. I prefer the way WAG runs. My group does too. That's basically the end of it.
>setting stuff
Is plug and play. FFG had better adventures, so I port those over, along with anything else I need. That's easy, although Cubicle 7 arguably did the right thing in making their setting a sandbox that's completely detached from the rest of the universe and I'd be inclined to do something similar in a FFG campaign.

Silly homebrew questions about Rouge Trader anons, is there any good source books I can use to have my party visit Armageddon for a deal and be able to implement the important NPCs with proper stats?
>>
>>98357730
The FFG line deals with the Calixis sector, which is about a third of the galaxy away from Armageddon, and the Jericho Reach, which is about two thirds of the galaxy away from Armageddon.
If you want to stat the relevant characters, you're going to have to do the job yourself.
>>
>>98357730

If Solitares don’t have souls, does that mean they can travel through the Warp?
>>
>>98357476

>>

Harlequins in general have been seen traveling through the Warp on human ships. They're not in the same "at constant risk of getting their souls devoured" category as other Eldar

>Weirdest alien technology or wargear your party has ever found?
It was this weird-looking machine with a bunch of tubes coming out of it. If you put a tube up your nose, a thin and flexible needle pierced up into your brain and put you in a trance. It then allowed anyone connected to it to experience a shared lucid dream which was 100% lifelike.
We found out the hard way that if you don't disconnect the person correctly, they wind up lobotomized. Whoopsie.

What's the range of a Broodmind/how do interplanetary Genestealer Cults work? I'm running a DH campaign soon and one of the ideas I'm tossing around is to have the villains be a sector-wide Genestealer cult. The idea being the Patriarch and/or Magus is basically planning to infiltrate most planets in the sector and just have the revolution bring the entire sector down at once when the hive fleets arrive, rather than just one or two planets a time. Figure using either homegrown Magus-Astropaths or some indoctrinated Astropaths to coordinate. Is this plausible? Astropaths despite their binding to the Emperor aren't above corruption, right? I mean RT the game even has the cult from your ship spread across multiple planets across the Expanse.
>>
Can someone please explain the relationship between Dark Eldar and Craftworld Eldar? I'm new to this setting, only really played the games, and I'm confused as to why the two don't seem to hate each other. In every other setting Dark/Normal elves seem to hate each other. Don't the Normal Eldar blame the Commorragh for their fall?
>>
>>98360981
They DO hate each other. The difference is they hate each other like family, compared to hating the neighbors or people from the next town over.
>>
>>98360981
It's mainly that they don't compete with one another, so there isn't really any basis for them to fight. The Craftworlders live on their ships in the void of realspace, while the Darkies live in Commorragh, their hidden city in a pocket dimension of the Webway. Neither side has anything that the other side wants, so they're not likely to come into conflict except under the most unusual circumstances.

hey guys, im working on my next session of only war and i want to have a sort of conclusion to this little mutant arc and a boss fight
any tips for how to do a proper boss fight, especially when I have a guy with an autocannon and a guy with a long las

if i make the boss too tough, the other members of the team won't get to do much, but if i make him too weak he'll get cut to shreds quick
im thinkin' a psychic shield sort of thing they have to overload or maybe taking out the boss' important goons before he's vulnerable
or maybe it won't be a frontal assault on their part at all and they'll be able to sneak around and drop something on the boss' head
>>
>>98362305
Don't feed the trolls.
>>98362325
What were the major beats for this arc, what were the primary enemy types and what were some more unique enemy types?
I advise against gimmick fights, if they want to focus-fire the main guy while the adds chew on them they can lie in the grave they've dug. At minimum you should have suicide-zerkers dosed with Frenzon, Slaught, and Stimm, if you want to be cruel borrow drugs from other lines. Cold Fire for Battle Rage, and Barrage to scream 'fuck your shit forever'. Apply chainaxes as available.
You don't need to use that examples specifically, but generally be aware that a boss fight isn't a boss fight without adds - you need something there to either soak up attention as the boss does boss things or shiv the players in the knees as they focus the boss. One singular guy should NEVER be the source of more than 50% of the encounter's combat potential.
Other advice: Give the guy shitty power armor and probably unnatural toughness to prevent instagibs, or just make him one of those weird skinny slippery types with super-high agi and multiple dodge talents, or make him a Davy Jones octopus man with a flurry of long envenomed whiplike tentacle attacks, or add all these guys in as lieutenants for the real boss that you've already thought up.
>>
>>98359876
Yeah but is it any different for Solitaries since they aren't protected by clown god?
>>
>>98360981
They do hate each other. They just kinda de-emphasised that in the video game so you can have one of each in the party.
>>
>>98360981
In the video game, I assume Rogue Trader, Yrliet is an Outcast and was kicked out for basically not being able to fit in, and even she still hates the Drukhari, just is willing to work with them from time to time for plot reasons. Dark and Craftworld Eldar still definitely hate each other, but there's not numbers for true full war and you have Corsairs and Harlequins that go between them both occasionally.

What do we know about T'au ships? Do we have any canon information on crew sizes or what the interiors look like? Do we know if shipboard security is the duty of the Fire Caste or Air Caste? I assume there are Earth Caste engineers on board and suchlike. Do larger ships always have an Ethereal on board or is the Air Caste left to their own devices more?

Kind of been tempted to run a Rogue Trader campaign for my friends but with the gimmick of it being T'au Star Trek. Only my autism makes me a stickler for verisimilitude/lore-accuracy.

Security is handled by Fire Caste. Each ship has an ethereal on board, but a minor one, like an Aun'ui, which can override the other castes.

Are there any references to renegade Knight houses? I mean renegade as in the same way you have renegade Space Marines; not Chaos, but also not Imperium (or Mechanicus in this case). Like presumably cut off since the DAOT and then recently rediscovered and decide to tell the space jackasses to fuck off and that they'd rather go it alone.
>>
>>98368301
Sort of. I think the closest you'll get is the Anglo-Saxon knight house in HH4, but even they were considered traitors in the end. Because of the effects of the Throne Mechanicum, Knights tend to follow a more binary path compared to Astartes.
>>
Speaking of mecha, O'R'myr, you're probably the best person to ask this: how do battlesuits work within the Fire Caste? I mean I know about the trial by fire and whatnot and how the right to pilot one is attained, but what I mean is how are individual suits in terms of relations to their pilots? Is it like Gundam where each battlesuit pilot is going to have one specific suit (or perhaps a few if they are versatile and the mission calls for it) that is theirs to pilot and perhaps customize? Or is it more "you pilot an XV8, here is an XV8, you will pilot this one, try not to spill anything on the inside because the next pilot might complain." I imagine more the former? Do we have any examples of one pilot with different suits?

Also I knwo the Stormsurge is tank pilots, but what about the T'aunar. I can't find the datasheets for it that originally came out back when. Who the fuck pilots those?

Your basic guy unlocks a battlesuit at Shas'ui level, and gets a basic bog-standard suit, very little customization outside of weapons. It's not technically theirs, it's shared. Shas'ui team leaders get some limited customization options, but only basic interchangeable systems like drones, multi-trackers, target locks, and so on. When a guy becomes a Shas'vre, he gets access to special issue systems. It isn't until Shas'el level that you have "your" suit, but even then it's a modified standard model. You need to be a Shas'o high commander, or hero of the Empire, to get an ace custom suit, like Farsight, Shadowsun, R'alai, or the Twin Lances.

There's not much said about the T'aunar because it's Forge World and that makes Citadel mad, but I do believe that the Ta'unar uses similar pilots to the Stormsurge (They both share the designation KV/KX for ballistic suit) with drone/AI assistance, such as for the Vigilance Defense System. It can't take TOO many guys - after all, the inaugural battle of the T'aunar was its Earth Caste creator taking it for a solo joyride into the middle of a battle with a hive fleet.

Hello my fellow dorks. For our Rogue Trader game on roll20, I utilized the magic of AI slop and assembled this enormous ship "map". Obviously I use the word map pretty loosely, this isn't accurate to the scale or shape of the ship, or the relative location of the various rooms to one another. It's more just a collection of wherever I see us feasibly going on the ship, so we don't need to change maps constantly, and can have people off doing their own thing wherever.
So far, we have:
>our lovely star trek inspired bridge
>conference room
>a joined navigator/astropath/science room
>cogitator stack
>officer's bar
>royal armory/firing range/small workshop for our little tau slave bitch
>large lounge area/restaurant
>a church of course, with little rooms on the sides to store relics
>gritty engineering room area, representing part of the deep interior of the ship
>ballroom
>officer's rest and recreation area, a pool, gym, spa, accompanying locker room, etc
>concert hall for entertainers
>unique living quarters for each of our four current players
>hospital
>pleb barracks
>pleb cafeteria and accompanying kitchen
>brig with an interrogation area
>cargo bay
>vehicle bay
And I've left lots of open space to add more rooms in the future. Can you lot suggest any additions? Anything you would want on your own ship that's missing here?
>inb4 ai complaints
You find me real artists willing to make me something like this for free and I'll accept it gladly

Somehow both muddied and overdetailed at once, filled with senseless and useless shit devoid of purpose.
No artist would do this for pay. Why would you do this with your own time
>this isn't accurate to the scale or shape of the ship, or the relative location of the various rooms to one another.
So it fulfils no purpose other than existing. You slop retards are the fucking same;
You could have used your mind and made something, but you care so little you ask someone else's machine to do it for you then pass its useless output as your own work.

>a collection of wherever I see us feasibly going on the ship, so we don't need to change maps constantly, and can have people off doing their own thing wherever.
It feels like you're just looking for things to get angry about, and are probably nogames
>>
>>98371903
Not gonna be negative like the other anon, but AI generated maps have the problem of having lots of "noise". Rippling reflexes, muddy textures, lots of little doodads, whatever; they all come from the same source: the clumps of white/black in the white noise seed that served as the base of the image.

Those clumps are of course horrendous for the purpose of making a battlemap, you do not want unimportant details or patterns that make tokens harder to see.

ChatGPT images are really bad at this, maybe other models are less plagued by the clumpiness. I'd tell you to check the sloppa general for tips, but last time I checked it was just people playing doll house with their "O"Cs. But I do remember they had a battlemap OP once, so maybe there's someone who can recommend a better model.
>>
>>98372083
Talking to a computer to get slop can't possibly be fun, no amount of ALLCAPS spongebob posting will cover that.
Are you genuinely retarded or esl? You can't even be arsed to arrange the list of room a computer made for you, that another computer drew for you into a general layout; hell you can't even ask either computer or any other to also do that for you. You are helplessly useless; Why would anyone with the ability to lift a pen do that for you? Never mind one of any sort of talent or experience, let alone for free.
It's not to scale, not to shape, not even the general layout. This is your own evaluation of this "work".
I have no doubt you intend to present this abortion of an idea to your players, and if they tolerate that I have no doubt you'll even insist they use it as one after shitting on it in your own post. All it'll have done is waste your players time, stiffle your and their creativity and then be forgotten.
Whether it ends up ignored or unused you would've been better off with nothing -which is what your made- you even list the reasons why; and yet you are Degenerate Cumsoomer that must have a map, and it must be enormous, and it must post about it in reddit tier self deprecation begging for feedback. Either make the damn whatever you think you need or stay silent.
Even the Sloppers in your containment thread put at least some level of effort sharing and crafting prompts.

They're Shas'ri, which seems to be a specialized offset of Shas'vre like Shas'yr. It means "exemplar", and since they're being propped up by the Ethereals as the new Farsight, and are basically an HQ unit, it seems that it's a title equivalent to command ranks so they get to skip to highest rank possible. Hard to say, the codex doesn't say too much about it, but the rules stop applying when the Ethereals push for something.

Well, you're missing the weapons batteries. There should be some very large open rooms with rows of macro-cannons and ammunition loading equipment. But aside from that, I'd mainly suggest working on fixing this part:
>this isn't accurate to the scale or shape of the ship, or the relative location of the various rooms to one another.

You seem to have a very modular thing going on here, so it shouldn't be too hard to cut this up and lay it out in a way that makes a bit more sense. Not that you need to actually make a 1:1 fully realistic map, but suppose you cut the map in half, making two separate decks. The top deck would represent the "cathedral" that sits on top of Imperial ships, and would start with the bridge at the front, leading onto a corridor connected to the various "fancy" rooms and officer's quarters. Then the lower deck would be very linear, with the hangar bay and cargo at one end, a corridor flanked by several copies of the gun batteries and crew quarters, then the prison, the cafeteria, and hospital more towards the back, and the engineering space at the very rear.

It shouldn't take too long now that you've slopped up most of the rooms already, and having the rooms placed roughly where they belong will be very helpful if you ever need to use the map for a boarding action.

John Blanche isn't "canon" though. Are we supposed to say that any concept art made by Jes Goodwin or Adrian Smith is also canon? Though at the rate GW pilfers through unused art to turn into models since their current team is too uncreative (or perhaps management is too cowardly), maybe we'll be seeing these in a killteam soon. Depends on how valuable the planet is, they're more likely to treat important planets well. I'm trying to establish a proper chain of careers to represent all roles in a marine chapter, so Aspirant > Scout > Devastator > Assault > Tactical then branching out into Sergeant > Captain > Chapter Master, Lexicanum > Codicier > Epistolary > Chief librarian, Initiate Apothecary > Apothecary > Chief Apothecary. Veterans probably fit in there somewhere between Tactical and Sergeant. If I want four ranks for each 'elite' career path I can stick Apothecary Biologis in there, or steal Primus Medicae.
Trouble is, I'm having a devil of a time figuring out any kind of internal hierarchy for Chaplains. They kinda just exist. There's some primarislop lore about 'judicars' who take an oath of silence before being initiated into Chaplaincy but that's more about selling a new model and less about tying stuff in to the actual chapter cult.
Where do I fit these guys in, and what internal variations should I consider? I'm discounting first founding special nonsense like forgefathers and sanguinary priests at the moment, I just want to get the barebones heirarchy down.

It's called soul.
Do you by chance gobble up the overly designed husk of current GW?

It wasn't canon in third or second edition, either. There has never been a canon description or depiction in official labeled art or models that corresponds to that cumbrained goonerbait.

You're cooked if you think that's goonbait.

Your arms must be tired. The goalposts don't look too heavy, but you've been moving them around an awful lot.

Not my fault this board doesn't do a better job at gatekeeping the most simple of roasties.

Hey, some of us LIKE boob armor.

How do astartes chapters deal with members that get amnesia? You can't tell me they don't get memory loss due to the sheer number of times they get knocked around in battle. And what about other mental illnesses like PTSD? Do they use hypno therapy to "fix" them should one of those things happen? Can hypno therapy be used to replace/fix memory loss?

Lore question: Is Malcador really dead? I remember something about a Psyker facing off against the tyranid hive mind and only surviving because Malcador helped him. Is there any lore about Malcador's survival?
>>
>>98381165
its my understanding that malcador is super fucking dead
he used up his whole soul powering the golden throne when the emperor was busy fighting Horus

Part of being a marine post heresy is getting your brain rewired via hypnotherapy so they don't process emotions the same way as normal humans. Getting a photographic memory from becoming a marine is actually pretty common too.

First Dark Heresy session is tonight boyz, wish me luck. Finally got the other guy to get back to me and he's a feral world "literal caveman" guardsman. So we've got a spread of
1x Arbitrator
1x Imperial Psyker
2x Guardsmen
1x Tech Priest
1x Cleric/Mindcleansed.

Running with Edge of Darkness because people recommended it to me in the last thread, any other quick advice other than "Have notes for all of these things and be able to quickly improv a map" or such? Using Roll20 so at least I could just throw out a few lines if need be, the maps I saw in the book tended to be a little spoiler-y except the one hostel.

Good luck.

As long as he has no radicals, he should be fine.

I'm prepared for it being not the best balanced going through the existing adventures, but I figure I can throw a few extra goons around, another one of the fucked up medical golems or servitors, and make it a bit more challenging for them. Plus they're really not good at actual investigation work for lore and such so they should still be challenged and struggle a bit that way.

>>98383660
The most radical is the Tech-priest that wants to turn the non-caveman guardsman into a combat servitor. Given that their Inquisitor is a psyker himself, I wasn't planning to go full puritan for them (I know my players, they want to fuck with weird things and I can probably play with the sliding scale into getting killed cause of it) anyway.

How do space hulks work? I mean, I get how they form, and how they re-emerge in realspace, but how the fuck do they pop in and out of the Warp? Shouldn't they pop into realspace and just, like, stay there? Unless someone on-board is actively activating one of the warp drives, the hulk should remain in warp space. And we're also even told that warp drives have to be proportional to the vessel being moved, so one would assume a single ship's warp drive isn't remotely up to the task of plunging a hulk into the warp again.

And I can't think of any other examples of the Warp randomly pulling shit in from realspace without someone or something in realspace deliberately creating a rift or whatever.

>but how the fuck do they pop in and out of the Warp
Sometimes it's a broken warp drive that activates randomly and sends the whole mess into the warp. Other times the powers of the warp FEEL the hulk should be drawn back, so they cast FEELS BEFORE REALS and the hulk goes back into the warp.

Feel like it’s A Falling Cow because he’s deleted everything. Probably got on that influencer bucks. But the circus music made it memorable, instead of just slop ranking shit.
