Delete the codex

Replace it with 5 soup codexes: a Slaanesh, Nurgle, Khorne, Tzeentch and Chaos Undivided codex.
Add Dark Mechanicus and Traitor Guard.

For example in the Khornate Codex you would have:
>Khorne Daemons (Bloodletters etc)
>World Eaters/Khorne warbands
>Khorne Cultists
>Dark Mechanicus
>Traitor Guard

In the Chaos Undivided codex you get:
>Black Daemons (Be'Lakor, Furies, 30k Rainstorm Daemons etc)
>Generic Chaos Space Marines + Red Corsairs and Renegades
>Chaos Cultists
>Dark Mechanicus
>Traitor Guard

I do like the new asymmetrical mission structure, but I did run into this problem >>98348072.

I eventually landed on playing Prio Assets (so my only choice is Hallowed Martyrs, which is not one of the detachments I like but at least it's strong mechanically) and came up with this list
https://www.newrecruit.eu/app/list/ZlVWF

I feel pretty good about it and look forward to testing it. I like that the two dogmata's abilities synergise, and both Freye and the Exorcist trigger battleshock tests every turn, so I look forward to seeing how attacking leadership plays out. Especially since this disposition wants to gum up the center and just hold the center objectives, so you know exactly where you're placing those auras every match.

I did some research online, and I found this list that 5-0'd an event recently, and his strategy is similar in the broad strokes (gumming up the center of the board with sacresants and insidiants) but our lists differ in that I love tanks and he tends towards infantry. But it's still nice to come up with an idea and a general list, and then find out the same idea is doing well.

https://spikeybits.com/battle-for-the-capital-gt-2026-army-lists-sisters-run-it-back/

SoB's win rate in general right now is abysmal, one of the lowest, but I love them no matter what and I'm excited to test this out and see how the differences between my list and his list play out. Exciting!

You know something is wrong balance wise when 92% of your playerbase only plays one disposition. Hell, we have more recon players than any other army just by absolute numbers and not even relative ones.
>>
>>98358027
>>98357978
I think it's just Marines having main character syndrome.
There was a video on Votann where it's at 50% winrate overall, but that's because some of its detachments are pulling 60% and some pulling 40%.
Farseekers is pulling the winning stuff down, and I don't know if that's just because Votann can't really perform recon well enough

Why isn't there a 40k version of the Trojan War?
>Mythical level seige where the very best warriors are all overseas trying to take the richest most sacred citadel of the gods (the Emperor)
>Story is about the uneasy alliance between the massive egos, of the different Achean kings, and what is their right take in terms of treasure and wealthy and women and what isn't.
>Distinct peoples with storied pasts and histories fighting each other on a dusty plain to win everlasting glory
>A doomed city trying to stave off the destined day of its death and sack
Honestly a huge chaos army seiging a wealthy holy citadel to the emperor and how the emperors champions fighti off a horde of foreign edo driven chaos heroes would be really cool.
I only bring it up becayse the Odyssey has released and has me thinking about this period

Chaos didn't win through some brilliant subterfuge like the Trojan Horse though, and they didn't win and get free reign to sack the palace. They were beaten then hounded and pursued across the galaxy to the very worst part of it to hide after their defeat.
Maybe we can have a second seige of Terra in M42 and Terra becomes a forever war battlefield we re-visit at times like Armageddon is

Unironically got into Orks because of the whole "they think red is faster so it becomes faster har har har!" meme.
Turns out that's my least favorite part of Orks, everything else from the aesthetics to their nature having everything to do with fighting all the time and nothing else is what kept me here. Orks being fun-loving hooligans always looking for a good time and a laugh (which just so happens to be made at the expense of beating the hell out of everyone and everything around them) is such a fun twist on fantasy orcs that are just bodies made for war (ironically, orcs in any other setting are usually my second most hated faction due to this trope boring me to tears).

I'm sad that rangers are neither aspect warriors nor guardians, so they don't benefit from either detachment. Dire Avengers benefit from both lol. I'm sad that they ranger detachment just gives detection range, and not even in an amount that would allow them to shoot at max range.

Rangers infiltrating onto midfield objects to start scoring right away, before being reinforced by guardians, while the two big guys fight over the middle/far objectives is a cool theme I feel good about.

Yeah that's a fun part of them for sure. You mentioned the mad max theme, which is something I grew to appreciate even more after watching all of the movies (especially the new ones, if you colored the people green in Fury Road it'd be an Ork movie no questions asked).
I wasn't originally a speed freek fan but those movies sold me on it. I even made my own nod to the series by recreating the bike chariot.

You can have that as a Khorne worshipper but it would be his own interpretation of the god and not something that would actually last if his brain gets corrupted enough. The most fundamental point of Khorne is that Khorne doesn't care if your enemy has been cut down by a single slash practiced a thousand times or if you are bashing his head with a rock.

Like, in AoS we had a major Khornate character obsessed with giving Khorne the skull of a particularly strong good guy as a worthy offering, and after decades of failing he finally, realises they his god never cared about a "worthy" offering, kills the first guy he finds, reaches Khorne Nirvana and instantly gets elevated into Daemon Princehood.

You'll need more light, also as you're shooting small stuff where you tend to get close up, the depth of field gets very narrow so only some of the stuff gets in focus. If you're using a phone, try installing a photo application that allows you to change your aperture, the smaller it is the wider the depth of field for putting everything in focus. You should also try to align them next to each other on a horizontal line.
I'll borrow some proper light and shoot mine now that I have a force of 2000pts all painted and shit.

From my old Chaos codex:
"Champions of Khorne are unpredictable warriors, as they believe that any day spent without death in the name of Khorne is a day wasted. For this reason, they are prone to attacking friend and foe alike, especially when a true adversary is hard to find. Champions of Khorne are fiercely competitive and, unless they are convinced that their God has gathered them for some grand future battle, the meeting of two such champions almost always ends in bloodshed and the death of one or both."

Funny typo in the faction focus article for SoB. The person writing it suggests pairing Chorus with Bringers because they're both short range shooty detachments, but he forgot that Bringers costs 3dp so this is illegal.

But I don't blame him, since it's an easy mistake to make, since the Marine version of Bringers, Firestorm Assault, only costs 2dp. So he was thinking this style of detachment should cost 2 and he might even play marines so is used to that.

Let's not mention that Firestorm is also strictly better than Bringers since it works up to 12" while Bringers is 6". That's beside the point of it also being cheaper.
>>
>>98358766
have to wait to see the codex, but seems good. dakkarig has an excellent profile that covers a great spread of targets although its not really made for punching high T.

also they fact that they merged boyz with shootas and choppas into a single profile means you can still bring some melee without sacrificing dakka
>>
>>98358766
https://listhammer.info/?faction=Orks
Two out of five of the 5-0 Ork lists in tournaments were running More Dakka so I'd say it is pretty viable right now. Orks are real hot in general, but going into the codex everything might change.

How so? Where are you from?
Here (with 20% discount) they cost 160€ - the 10th edition "ultimate" starter set was 140€.

Both include 2 combat patrols each, the same kind of books, and dice and the measuring sticks.
The new set has (apparently) 2 gaming boards, compared to 1 of the old set (who cares), but i think the new terrain is just more/better than the old hab bunker and boring walls.

And while the Landspeeder sucks, and the Terminators were super cool, having a vehicle (or big bug) for both factions in the starter set is pretty nice, and the old set didn't have that.. And considering all of that, those 20€ extra are actually worth it compared to the old box.

Yeah, its kinda weird they do not show it. You could argue that its a taste thing, and the box designers thought it as worse than the others, but then i would say they should always show all the available head options on a box/in their online store, and not just a selection, because there will always be someone who would like another one better.

AI will stick around
Not all of the current companies will succeed but there will eventually be an industry Schelling point where one LLM stands above the rest with some small satellite competition like google compared to other search engines
But yes too much money was dumped into this shit too quickly, its not as big of a deal as the people profiting off of it are pretending it is
the bubble will pop and industry equilibrium will eventually happen

You are right with your overall assessment, but depending on your job or your branch, it really is a huge deal. Real time translations and picture creation (not the usual slop you get with a single prompt) is huge.

I found my box of old witch hunter stuff and I'm seeing what is still in the game and some of it is Legends of course, but some of it isn't even in the listbuilder as an option anymore, Legends or not. Like I have a deamonhunters inquisitor who I used to put with crusaders in a land raider, crusaders are Legends, inquisitors have been rolled into one, and there is no way at all to get a land raider in the Agents book.

A few years ago when I got back into the game, I got about 4000 points of the new plastic sisters and it's great, love the new stuff. I also got some of the new "agents" stuff like the new rogue trader unit.
But now I have like 1000 points of old guard stuff laying around, so I might do a refresh of that too. But I don't really like mixing old and new, not to mention old paint jobs vs new paint jobs. So my sisters are all new, and the ~1000 points of old metal ones are just display on a shelf. So I would essentially be starting fresh on guard and my old stuff would be stowed.

It looks like inquisitors are still good. All the named ones look good, and the "Inquisitorial Agents" unit is essentially the new "retinue" replacement even though it has less customization than the old retinue system. I had a shooty one in a chimera and a melee one in a land raider, lots of good memories.

Literally just run it like the initial Third War for Armageddon. Big website with an interactive campaign map that has a region tied to every real-world region (US, UK, Canada, AUS, Central Europe, etc) with a bunch of different zones without it that are tied to different mission types and you can click on them to read the lore and report results for your region and mission and there are weekly updates collating the results that talk about who is winning where with a proper lore write-up and once a month have special events that happen with a narrative scenario (rescue the Titan pilot, raid the orbital station with boarding actions, etc).

It's really not fucking hard man. They did this incredibly well over 20 fucking years ago with a fraction of the manpower and budget, they just had people who were actually passionate and not corporate DEI hire faggot drones.

>Announce each GT winner and their factions as they win, the golden ticket will be locked to that faction they won with but they can trade them among other winners for the big tournament
>Craft a narrative about the major belligerents fighting over the new warzone based on what the most common armies are showing up to the tournament.
>During tournament weekend have every faction win count towards pushing the warzone progress for their faction even if they don't win or make Top 8
>Top 8 players on the last day get a narrative story article published about their factions showing up to fight for the largest conflict of the warzone and the warzone will persist in lore with those factions still battling it out
>Winner gets their faction to push a major narrative milestone
>At the end of the edition get the narrative written around the three factions that won each warzone and new releases for each.

LLM’s are notorious for fucking up playing basic games like chess, so a warhammer game would result in a schizo hallucinogenic nightmare. I think it has something to do with AI being trained on precedent repeated to it, so when presented with a game with twists and turns it short circuits.

if I were them I'd make a second hekaton class thing with huge guns to be towed by the land fortress, a not!dreadnought (ideally an ironkin and/or living ancestor connected directly to a votann), and a spiritual successor of the gyrocopter piloted by an ironkin

I know he wrote that they hammer the skulls of their dead brothers onto their armor so they can keep crusading
I know he wrote that they had an abnormally large chaplaincy to ensure their loyalty internally

I only had one game with Host of Ascension with Take & Hold and it was super easy to score. I was playing vs. Blood Angels that could advance and charge who basically can move 25"+ with ease in a turn, I just put smaller units on the objectives with my gunline behind them. I basically held unto my side of the map, and put pressure on the sides and back to keep my opponent from getting too close. With that, holding three objectives in a turn was easy. I even got to my opponent's home objective in Round 3, which basically forced him to not get too close. I don't remember what his disposition was but it wasn't purge the foe for some reason, which would have made things easier for him.

Saw a convo about large models that dont have frame, or just lost it. Basically if your LoS crosses, partially or wholly, obscuring and neither base is within it and opposite sides then the overhang isnt visible.

This makes sense, end of 10th was like that so wings and barrels etc didnt penalize you. So Vault B isn't visible to unit C.

Vault A? Visibility line doesnt cross obscuring to the model, but does for the base. That is OK because visibility is any part of the model unless interfering obscuring is in play. So it is visible to unit C?

>>
>>98361108
Its not just that model, but its definitely the worst part. The whole line is based almost entirely around 2 kits with characters and alternate units builds shared across sprues meant to make 5~ marines. All of their other characters, dreadnaught, and specialty wargear came from FW or older metal/resin models. Most of their non-plastic options had been legend'd or removed entirely with no real replacement. All other rules supported models are just repainted older space marine vehicles like rhinos, LRs, dreads, preds, etc.
On top of all that their rules have ranged from garbage to OP and having great options with lots of builds to being locked into a single playstyle with little variance.

The galactic core is pretty inhospitable to regular humans, so I imagine the Imperium just figured the area was uninhabited/not worth investigating at the time and left them be.

>Have Kill Team tournament last month
>Finals
>Wrecka Crew vs Raveners
>Ork player crashes out, yelling and cussing over the Tyranid player beating his army and being able to go under ground
>Ork player leaves upset that he lost and Tyranid player gets the prize
>Ask this month if we're gonna have the Spearhead tournament
>GW store owner says he's not gonna be doing tournaments anymore and just gonna have it be events instead as he doesn't want another crash out like that to happen
So much for brackets and prizes

Ranger detachment is mostly just to strengthen shroud runners unfortunately. If you're shooting with rangers, you're better off not having rangers at this point. Better to just pay for 10 felreavers

Learn to drill small holes for paper clips or brass rods to hold the weapons in place with magnets to attach anon. But I get it, magnets aren't for everyone. I've magnetized all the models I've built, but I build extremely slow compared to my friends and have yet to start painting.
> star cannons
I like the profile, but everyone still seems to just slap brightlances on everything they can. I think I'm going to try a war walker or two with star cannons

I had final turn and I had the game won 94-88, but to get my final 2 points I had to charge farsight into mortarion to take the final wound and kill him.
Farsight fucking wiffed.
But then a crisis suit did it. Fucking hero, Instant Shas'O field promotion.
Posthumously though, because mortarion fought on death out of spite and killed everything.

Since the Tau don't have Warp drives that cause Warp accidents that send you to the opposite side of the galaxy like the Imperium does, what's the best way to explain Tau being really far from their space in order to fight Space Wovles or Votann or whatever?
>>
>>98362224
>Since the Tau don't have Warp drives that cause Warp accidents that send you to the opposite side of the galaxy
The Fourth Sphere Expansion is literally this. They aren't close to the wolves specifically, but they are to the blood angels if that makes you feel better :D
>>
>>98362224
I use a warp drive that caused a warp accident to cause my sept to be lost during the 4th sphere. they got separated from main fleet early and got lost elsewhere

I always see everyone say Paragon Warsuits + Multimeltas + Morvenn Vahl is mandatory in every Sisters list, no matter what. Why?

An InSv means you never roll worse than that for your saves, right? What does it mean if you have an InSv of 4+, but a Sv of 6+?
>>
>>98362121
Nice job on the win. Love the camo on your armor too.
>>
>>98362372
I believe you would get to roll your 6+ save and then if it fails you would roll your 4+ however if they modified your 6+ into a 7+ you go straight to invuln
I am no expert however
>>
>>98362372
You always choose which save to use for the roll.
>>
>>98362415
>I believe you would get to roll your 6+ save and then if it fails you would roll your 4+
No, absolutely not. You roll for every attack, then check the saves of the models in order of allocation group, checking off the lowest rolled values first. The only saves you get to roll separately after the initial save roll are Feel No Pains.
>>
>>98362372
You choose which save you use for your saving roll. Yes, there's no reason you would ever pick the 6+ armor in this case over the 4+ invulnerable. The only real units that work like this are stuff like daemons who are supernatural in nature.

Read about the Starside Nexus, the Tau opened a portal to the other side of the galaxy next to their capital worlds. The Killteam boxes centered around the 'big gun' narrative was a planet under threat from tau annexation.
>>
>>98362224
Off topic, but Mordian is dead now right? They had those narrative campaigns last year, and I think I heard the thousand sons 9/11'd an Eldar city out of the webway into the planet? Does anyone know the specifics?

Having two characters probably massively inflated the price. They probably overvalue the vyper as well despite being a glorified jetbike.

That's actually not true anymore in 11th edition. You always use the better save.

The Emperor isn't a Turk he's a Hattian from ancient Anatolia.

Turks showed up in Anatolia about 4000 years after he was born

The emperor is actually just Conan the Barbarian crossed with Vandal Savage.

Modular armoured battle train land fortress that you can stick a huge cannon or huge drill on

Thanks, I hate it
I would rather it be a blocky norse themed silver saucer UFO with an underslung BFG
I just wanna get rid of Iron Master, Grimnyr and Cthonians. I plan to take the Miners off my Earthshakers and just have the ironkin and maybe some converted Warriors.
Also Berekh sucks, 0/10 and Buri is a 3/10. The nid cape doesn't look good, and looks even worse if you're vs anything other than Nids.
>>
>>98362711
I hope we get the giant floating ZARDOZ heads they show in all the art. Not even memeing, they're fucking sick.
>>
On the current issue of Combat Patrol you can get a heavy weapon squad for 11€. Seriously considering getting those.
>>
>>98362816
Next issue you get these mad max looking niggas. They seem to be even more bang for your buck, even though I'll probably never play them, opposed to astra militarum.
>>
>>98362819
GSC get to take some IG models, I wouldn't be mad if my opponent in a casual game did the reverse and took some GSC data sheets like the jackals and used them in guard (assuming they matched the army paint scheme)

i love psykers and yet i feel stronger and stronger pull to start black templars army since chaplains
but i also love techmarines and dreads and heavy teams (despite gravis) and aggressors
maybe i should reconcile with some csm warband
>>
>>98362800
I think most of those are just fan art based off of some of those giant heads showing up on the sides of their structures in some official art. It is a very cool concept and feels very fitting for their aesthetic though.

It's a mathematically sound unit that is good at both shooting and fighting and has special rules that make them very reliable. It's just a good reliable centerpiece unit, which SoB are short on.

Here's a guy who used bolters instead of meltas and still won. That particular choice is less important, since even bolters do get the rerolls and bonuses so they can do work. The cost of bolter unit is 180 compared to 210 for meltas, so it's just one of those things where if you have the points snag the meltas, but if you don't have the points then some paragaons are better than no paragons.

https://listhammer.info/list/69da0ac01e9735f412

The other SoB centerpiece model is the Triumph, which makes a good one too since you can attach it to a battleline unit, then also attach a hospitaller to that same battleline unit thanks to the changes to the leader/support rules, and then also take an upgrade like the hagiomanifex so the superunit also has -1 to wound against it, and you can just sit this in the center of the board in your Priority Assets list and never worry, which is another thing in that linked list.

I'm testing out this list.

I still think we need a second battleline unit of Hearthkyn with shields and shotguns/axes. A proper dread equivalent too, obviously.
