I'm convinced numk4 was designed way after the fact and so has the worst of both worlds: too similar to the old one to be interesting, and too different to be a straight upscale.

I always prefered the GW mk3, before the FW redesign. I don't dislike the FW design, that said.

What ruins numk3 for me is the trim. They should have forgone the trim altogether. I got a box of mk3 to test that out, it's just gonna be a long and tedious process to remove it.

Straight upgrade, literally perfect

>Nu Mark III
Body is an improvement but the head looks weird, unless you're playing death guard, then it's perfect. Otherwise a simple head swap makes it great.

Haven't got them yet, but overall looks good. The lack of bonding studs is easily fixed with a drill and some ball bearings (something I already add onto my other kits). >>
>>98377784
At this point, anyone using AI, if they are smart, will just lock the comments right from jump street and not respond to the bitchers and complainers. Like it or not, AI is being used for EVERYTHING in some way shape or form, even if its just a filter to add some sharpness or something to the finished piece. So the "anti" crowd will NEVER win. This is like when digital art hit the scene, people bitched and moaned back then, but eventually they had two choices.

Adapt.

Or die.

yeah except i'm fine with that
after all, it's a tool
the issue is when people use it to replace anything they could possibly learn or attempt to do (i.e what he did)

I could probably make a good-ish looking logo for orks in HH in an afternoon, even without AI using GIMP or pirated photoshop

the issue is that he made shitty looking logos without even attempting to make them look good (looks like he used chatgpt's free image generation, can't even be bothered to pay for the better one), got called out and acts like he's right and everyone else is wrong

my issue isn't AI
it's AI slop
>>
>>98377818
>Like it or not, AI is being used for EVERYTHING
Then why isnt everything getting the backlash?Much to think about.

If people can tell youre using AIits because youre using it poorly, as a crutch rarther than a tool. The quality ultimately speaks for itself, "everyone is doing it" isnt something you need to defend yourself with when you end up with something good.
>>
>>98377890
>why isnt it getting the backlash

Because some people are using it subtly instead of just full on auto generating shit with it. Using it as filter layers and shit instead of saying "grok, generate me CP". I wouldnt be surprised if script writers have been using it since before it even got released to the public, but thats just my own little paranoid theory.

And im not "defending" anything. I am perfectly fine with fucking AI, ive never had a problem with it. Are retards flooding shit with AI slop? Of course they are, its a birthing pang. Every time some new tech comes out, it starts with a flood of useless, degenrate or trivial bullshit until it gets refined and all the retards and gooners get filtered out of it (or at least get filtered into their own containment lane) leaving nothing but those who know how to use it properly. Jesus, every major version of physical media got its initial boost by getting adopted by the porn industry, and AI is no different. Itll take some time, but soon enough no one will be able to tell if its used or not.
>>
>>98377784
It's a "content creator" issue. They're all people with over-inflated egos who only want to hear others say how amazing they are.
>>
>>98377818
Your stocks in ChatGPT not paying dividends, buddy?
>>
>>98377973
Nah, its not even that, its artists who have spent their lives doing commissions (and ALWAYS without fail, ultimately bitching and moaning about because like 90% of their commissions are shit like diaper fur toddlercon) realizing that the slop that they (supposedly hated) creating can be done at industrial scale by ANYONE now. They are scared that their bread and butter is now gone. And the sad part is, it really isnt, it just means they would get more commissions for doing the things they always wanted to, but they are so USED TO doing the "easier" shit that its just become a self loathing feedback loop for them.

The smart ones are the ones learning the tools and figuring out how to blend it all together instead of whining and bitching to their little bubbles of yes men and paypigs online about it.

>>98377992
Nigga I aint got no cash for that shit.
>>
>>98378022
Dude, this is about people calling out bad artwork that happens to be AI. Doesn't matter how it was made, if it art looks bad it is bad. And rather than accept the criticism and improving it, the creator locked comments.
So why are you sperging out about muh sloppa bottom tier artists whining about AI?
>>
>>98377932
So in other words: my point. If everyone is using AI, but only some people get shit for using AI, those people use AI poorly.
>>
I want a leader for a detachment of outriders for my sons of horus. Doesn't matter whose leading it, as long as it makes sense for them to be on a bike. Any suggestions?
>>
>>98378152
Like a commander of some sort? Probably as simple as a centurion on bike. But a chaplain or herald on bike could be cool.
>>
>>98378077
NTA but the opposite of this is also true.
>Doesn't matter how it was made, if it art looks bad it is bad.
If art is good, its good no one cares where it came from and this is why some many twitter artists are losing thier shit over AI.

Fact of hte matter is, like 90% of the work commission artists do, the commisoner does not give a shit about how they get the product they just want the product.
You can think of it like mini painting.
If I pay someone to X amount to paint me a unit of white scars i dont give a shit how long it takes them, how they did it, or what they had to go through in order to make it look to the quality they are offering, i just care about the result and end product.
If some one else is doing it for Y, and its the same quiality, ill go with them if Y is less then X, and i dont care if they use an airbrush instead of hand painting, if Y is less then X ill go with that and i dont give a shit if the guy who charges X thinks air brushes are not real art work in minitures

Most of the rage against AI is from people who dont want to accept they are not artists they are just producers of a product, they rent their artistic talents out, and they are pissed a machine came along and can do it.
>>
>>98377818
>the "anti" crowd will NEVER win

well short of some kind of prolonged global energy shock

or the datacenters not getting built before users decide the increasing costs aren't worth the limitations of the models

or an artificial chip shortage that makes even replacing existing equipment prohibitively expensive for consumers and businesses, so they end up running old junker models that can't run next gen ai enabled features that come as standard, so everybody who makes software ends up getting hosed on products they can't sell, or even give away for free like, I don't know, operating systems, or AAA games they spent billions developing

or something dumb happens like, I don't know, a guy trying to save his own ass from jail because of all the stuff he did on pedo island released a whole bunch of fake ai ufo vids as part of a scam even scooby doo would see right through and suddenly the public want ai manipulation outlawed and investors simply divest themselves of ai overnight and the whole thing basically ceases to exist as the money dries up

i mean did you really think thiel or smurshk or whoever was really gonna bankrupt themselves for your right to shit in your hands and smear it on the walls? the only way shartlink starts sending cp gens to space is if someone figures out a way to live on mars without dying of radiation poisoning and the old martian slave colonists dream they all had somehow comes true, putting the dom in freedom

but the chances of that happening are remote right
>>
>>98378254
>Data center
Anon you dont need a data center for AI generation, you can do it at your home on your computer its not hard you just need a card that is of or better htne a 3090 and you can do it on a local model.
Data centers are for running massive models for things like chat, and generation of programs and shit, not image generation, image generation is fairly low power/useage.

I would say most of them are about roughly equal sidegrades rather than upgrades, but I'm fine with them overall.
My bigger issue is the choice of order. They should have left updated mk3 and mk4 for last and hit all the ones without a plastic kit first.
That they all do the exact same 5 poses is also a little lame, but that comes down to preferring the old way of separating torsos and legs, which is a ship that has sadly sailed.

Does anyone here have experience setting up events?
I think the biggest issue besides the venue and attendance is probably the terrain. Do you just have to have a massive amount of terrain to furnish the multiple tables necessary or are you expected to ask people to bring stuff to supplement your own? Obviously I'd prefer not to use cheap slop like mdf but even scratchbuild terrain takes a ton of time to make and more importantly, storage space and along with the logistics of transportation.

>Do you just have to have a massive amount of terrain to furnish the multiple tables necessary or are you expected to ask people to bring stuff to supplement your own?
both
ask around see if people or other stores can lend you some, have a lot of your own
if you're doing events get your crew together (you're not doing it solo right?) and have a terrain making night every other week for a couple months, spend one night making toothpick cactus trees, one night making hill, one night making bunkers, etc.
you'll have a shit ton of stuff, just stack it in milk crates or something
>>
>>98379593
I do have a handful of close buddies and I'll ask them but I feel that as we get older, the less and less time they're willing to put aside time for anything besides their wives/girlfriends.
It's a struggle to get them to come to the monthly meet ups or to even paint their models much less help me spend a weekend day to glue together foam into cacti.

Sad news lads, I emigrated to a Central European country with hopes of finding a HH scene upon arrival. >ZM has to be corridors.
I really wish this idea would die already.
ZM does NOT need to just be narrow hallways, ZM is meant for any area that is high combat high attrition rate.
Fore example, you could set up a town square, big foutain in the center, Buildings around the edges of it, and then like 3 pieces of big LoS blocking terrain like a LR as a disabled land raider, toppled building, big ass pile of rubble. That makes for a great ZM board.

You can honestly play on like kill team stype boards you just need to treat terrain as LOS blocking to create kill zones.

>>98379700
It doesent need corridors specifically, but it needs a lot of terrain very densely packed. And terrain is generally harder to come by, especially for a new player, than models.

>>
>>98379750
Terrain is not that hard to come by, you can drop like 200 bucks on Pegasus hobby gothic sets and boom there you go, a 4x4 worth of stuff. Or if you wanna turbo splurge you can buy 2 of these and have enough for a 4x4, if you bought 3 of them you could easily fill a 4x4 with more the nyou would need and honestly, spedning 200-300 bucks on terrain is not that much.

Fresh leaks!
>The next journal tactica covers the second half of the dropsite massacre, ZM’s changes to vanguard become a regular rules change. Rumored tartaros refresh as well, expect to see the “Siege Squad” codified in the same way veteran breachers were. Less emphasis on line units squatting objectives. Pardo and Valrak will have more.
>>
>>98379782
no one is saying terrain isn't accessible but to tell a new player that they also have to spend the equivalent of a starting army on just the terrain to play ZM is asinine
>>
>>98379799
Anon you are gonna spend that much if not more to set up terrain on a full 4x6 board, you cant escape the fact you gotta spend money on terrain.
>>
>>98379782
>you can drop like 200 bucks on Pegasus hobby gothic sets and boom there you go
Yea, thats quite an investment.

Not impossible of course, but between "spend 200+ on terrain" and "just get a full size army instead" many people will choose the latter and play with LGS terrain.

Saturnine command seem kinda nice in zone mortalis. 3 man popping out of deep strike should melt power armour pretty effectively, and thunder hammers striking slower, only wounding on 3's, and needing 2 unsaved to kill mean they are awkward for normal termies to deal with.

assuming they don't change any more than vet breachers did, the options are power weapons as standard or chainfists

They are worth it, in normal games i run them with auto cnaons, 2 axes, 2 chain fists, and a power fist. They make a WONDERFUL thorn in your side unit.

They do just enough damage to bull Vet and MEQ, and just enough to be a threat to things that are value able. BUT Becuse they are terminators, you cant just plink them down with bolters or even Heavy bolters, you gotta turn AP2 weapons on them, and thing is, it feels bad spending AP2 on a unit that is just really fucking annoying.

I march mine center field next to my rapiers as body guards and just start laying into MEQ units and push them off points.

They also make great cheap AA, 15 Auto canon shots hitting of 5s i think, and doing 2 damage is great, you can intercept with them, and with how thin Aircraft are they are a reasonable threat.

I think what it really needs isnt even "more damage" or "a way to cripple (it should kill).

The issue with the glaive is that it has effectively one gun, and that gun is meant to kill whatever it fires at, but it fires at cheap infantry. Cool, you killed 10 tacticals or whatever, big whoop!

The glaive needs a way to do damage beyond its main target. Have its deflag hit all enemy units within 6" of its target, so that it has a chance to do more than overkill one unit of marines.
>>
>>98383728
How about this instead? “Sweeping Beam of Death” (name subject to change) any models within 6” of original target take a hit at weapon profile. This showcases the glaive slot turning and cooking things in a general direction. Maybe give suppressed and pinning as well? Or one of them?
>>
>>98383755
>“Sweeping Beam of Death” (name subject to change) any models within 6” of original target take a hit at weapon profile.
This is called "blast" anon, you are looking to make it a blast weapon. Which kind of gets back to the issue im talking about.

Imagine if instead of 12 shots or however many it has (18?) it just fired a 6" blast. Does that change anything? Not really imo. It still kills whatever unit it fires at, but so does a conversion beamer. It will kill whatever it fires at (if the proper target) and then thats that.

You need to find a way to let it have an effect beyond "remove a unit of tacticals a turn" without also just making it either "removes any unit a turn" or "removes a quarter of the battlefield".

I do like the idea of making the status check AOE though, something something "blinding scourge", anything hit by the deflag/deflag AOE has to take a suppressive(2) check.
>>
>>98383790
It has damage 2 though. It won't just vaporise a tactical squad, any flavour of 3+ save veterans will get annihilated too. And those can easily be two, three times the amount of points tacticals are.
>>
>>98383790
It struggles to kill terminators or 2+ saves. That’s why suggested it be breach 5+. With 12 shots it can do some work but breach 5+ keeps it from being too much. Good against infantry and not just tacs. Maybe slap on the status you suggested. What do you think?
>>
>>98383807
>It struggles to kill terminators or 2+ saves.
That is part of its identity though. The glaive has always struggled to kill 2+ save infantry, but absolutely decimated MEQ and light infantry. This has always been part of its lore as well, with the glaive seeing the most use against Orks.

Gotta disagree. It was AP 2 in 1.0 and had a beam profile. In 3.0 the glaive is absolutely the fuck not worth 650. It should have a chance to be smoking models at AP 2 in the least. The fluff said it was used to kill apex xenos as well as hordes. It should be AP 2 but I’ll throw a bone and say AP 2 sometimes. Did you not play 1.0? The fellblade is miles ahead and even has status for its Anti infantry cannon. The glaive would be better with breaching (and perhaps suppressed) but too much with native AP 2. Matches the fluff more and does what it should a little better.

>>98384666
I think it should have suppress. We have precedence for it.

>There were no Tyranids in the great crusade.
No, there were simply various nondescript "apex xenos", which would have been high toughness, lots of wounds, 3+ armor.
>>
>>98384746
You have no evidence to back this up. I do. 1.0 sets the benchmark and to that we shall make adjustments in spirit of. I’d argue the opposite. Some of the xenos were so nuts in the crusade that it requires the most devastating arsenals known to man. AP 3 breaching 5+. Pray I don’t set it to native AP 2.
>>
>>98384760
>You have no evidence to back this up.
Except the stats for what passes for apex xenos in 40k, nids. You mean.

As opposed to "idk, probably required Ap2, trust me guyz"

2+ armor is rare, especially outside of space marines (the "armor" faction).
>>
>>98384765
I’m done arguing with you about tyranids you 40k tourist. We won’t get off topic from 1.0s rules. The fluff is there and so are the rules. I will be making the glaive AP 3 with breach 5+. Don’t like it? Tough. Don’t worry, I’ll reduce your fellblades cost as well.
>>
>>98384782
You tried to argue on the basis of fluff and failed, so you moved to "well in the edition of overtuned vehicles it was X" as if that matters. May as well argue land raiders should be immune to melta because of armored ceramite.

The fluff explains my point well. You’re just a retard. Now shoo 40k 3.0 tourist.
>>
>>98384796
Wow, a weapon thats bad at killing literally anything.
>>
>>98384799
>The fluff explains my point well.
Which it doesent, because we know what "apex xenos" means and its not 2+ armor.

Go on, show us the 2+ armor xeno beasts.
>>
>>98384828
You’re the prosecutor here or at least you’re trying. Burden of proof is yours and no, you don’t get to use 40k codexes. Nice try. Now it’s native AP 2. Shall I alter the deal further 40kiddie?
>>
>>98384841
>you don’t get to use 40k codexes
Of course I do, especially in reference to 1e which is just functionally alt codexes for 7th.

You tried to argue from the basis of fluff and failed in spectacular fashion. Youre arguing the profile is correct because "well the fluff says its meant to kill big monsters" while ignoring what "big monsters" means in context (and that the profile given is NOT good for killing big monsters, or monsters of any kind. Because the S8 Ap2 beam attack was terrible in basically every way.

Youre stuck in a pathetic feedback loop of wrongness.
>>
>>98384866
You wanna talk Ulanor orks? Fucking massive in comparison to modern day Orks? The amount of elite nobz etc? An ork warboss almost killed the emp and there were a lot of big ones. Yea AP 2. Go fuck yourself inbred. You’re in a feedback loop of sucking dicks.
>>
>>98384866
Fluff says kill tough aliens. 1.0 gives it AP 2. So you’re wrong or 1.0 is wrong. You know who I’m gonna bet is the idiot here?

>or 1.0 is wrong
Go find a monster or "tough xenos" the 1e glaive is good at killing. Ill wait.

Fluff says "good at kiling big xenos monsters", which defines a target area for "what the gun should do and be", and guess what, the 1e gun does not actually fulfill that targhet area. Xenos monsters are high toughness and wounds and not particularly good saves, because that is the design dichotomy that existed back in the day, there was more than one form of durability, not just "good armor save".

A gun good for killing big xenos monsters would need a high strength, enough shots to eat through their wounds, and something around Ap3, because its targets are defended by bulk rather than armor save.

Conveniently that also makes the gun good for killing swarms of dudes. Which is also a thing the 1e gun does not do with its 1" thick beam.

>You know who I’m gonna bet is the idiot here?
You, you fucking moron.
>>
>>98384828
>>98384841
Ruinstorm daemon lords, greater daemons, and arch daemons were all 4+ save base and could not improve their save beyond a 3+.
>>
>>98384902
And the guy who did the strawpoll was wondering why so many people just buildan/paintan/loran with their models instead of playing the actual game.
>>
>>98384918
We have rules for rangdan? Didn’t think so, so how could you know? But the fluff says they are scary. So AP 2 is necessary. Demons weren’t fought during the great crusade. Doesn’t count. Try again 40kiddie. You’re just embarrassing yourself. You aren’t beating the allegations.
>>
>>98384943
>the 2+ armor save xenos go to a different school in canada so you wouldnt know them
>>
>>98384930
It doesn’t help that the grogs got pushed out to a degree and you have all these fucking tourists that think they know better. You have the retard arguing about xenos and comparing them to 40k when some of the xenos mentioned in the great crusade were fucking brutal and downright terrifying. I guarantee he’s part of the 3.0 crowd who endlessly sucks it off without any sort of abstract deconstruction of some its worst parts. He hasn’t refuted the claims and should be treated like a tourist.
>>
>>98384961
Blighs team should be the guide here and not some random fag tourist on 4chan. They wanted it AP 2 then we use that instead of your retard dribble of…
>LOOK AT THE TYRANIDS AND HOW THEY PLOW MY 40K TOURIST BUTTHOLE
comparisons he loves to make
>>
>>98384981
>They wanted it AP 2
Blight apparently wanted it bad in literally every situation, because thats what it was. The cargo cultism is pathetic.
>>
>>98384970
>when some of the xenos mentioned in the great crusade were fucking brutal and downright terrifying
As opposed to the nice, docile, and gentle xenos of 40k?

The quality of aliens in the galaxy has not gone down, there are literally lots of the exact same aliens still around. Hrud, Eldar, Orks, etc. Except now you have existential threats like Necrons and Nids coming in too.

inb4
>nooo you dont understand the megarachnid were actually ws10 s20 t20 2+++ with 2000 wounds each, the orks on ullanor were LITERALLY 80 foot tall and there were 1000 billion of them and also they all had mega armor!
>>
>>98384988
You’re joking right? It was never considered bad and worst case scenario is was a situationally hard hitting hammer. This thing fucked way harder in 1.0 than today. Average case this thing was scary and demanded some respect. I can’t believe I’m reading this. 3.0 glaive sucks.
>>
>>98385020
>worst case scenario is was a situationally hard hitting hammer.
But it isnt. There is literally no target into which it is good. Its one S8 Ap2 hit on anything big (haywire so it will at least do A (1) hull point to a vehicle) and its too thin to hit significant numbers of infantry that just doesent line itself up for you.
>>
>>98385012
Arguably the xenos back then were far worse and that goes to show how strong humanity was. We literally were poised to take over the galaxy because we had the strongest fighters and some of the deadliest tech known to living beings. That’s before we get into the crazy stuff the dark angels had. So yea the glaive AP 2 was necessary in the fluff before they nerfed it like everything else for stupid reasons. Even if the beam rule didn’t play out well it was something you literally had to work around or you got fucked. I can’t believe you’re real. Get out of here. We should have gatekept you out before you picked up your first Horus heresy 3.0 box. God, your kind are the worst.
>>
>>98385020
It fired a 3" beam in 2e and was still bad. What the fuck are you on about?

Go think back to your previous couple of games and try and imagine a situation where the glaive would have been good, where there was this lovely line of models for it to shoot at. And then consider that this is WITHOUT a glaive that your opponent is positioning around.
>>
>>98385058
>Arguably the xenos back then were far worse
Youre right, the xenos back then WERE worse, they got a lot better over the years.

>So yea the glaive AP 2 was necessary
Rather shitty xenos if they die to one Ap2 S8 hit.
>>
>>98385035
The literary skills of this people blow me away. The og rules literally make you roll an extra d3 for hits when it collides with a gargantuan creature. Worst case it’s doing two points of damage. You are a newcomer and it shows. I don’t expect you to cede ground because you’re too entrenched in your bullshit but man you need to read a book.

Magnetized my predator gun. Was surprisingly annoying. Now to do the pintle/hatch and maybe the ammo box thing.
>>
>>98385097
>with a gargantuan creature
Oh wow it does d3+1 hits to SUPERHEAVIES
how scary!

It does one hit to normal vehicles and monstrous creatures dipshit, it doing slightly more to the much tougher gargantuans and superheavies is fucking irrelevant and wont make that gun any less of a joke.

This is 2.0 rules that you claim. Tell me where the number 3 is, in inches, in this rule for the beam. You need professional help. This level of retard can’t be fixed by common man.
