>>98379247I say A Game of Armoured Combat
Has anyone ever played Age of War-era games? I think it sounds interesting. An era of crude AF mechs and tanks and conventual infantry beating the fuck outta each other witch tech so crude it makes the most slapped together piece of shit Succ War-era mechs look like Word of Blake Celestials.
>>98379299I've always kinda wanted to do some kind of big campaign following a whole mechwarrior house that starts right at the beginning during the Proliferation Era, but I dunno if anybody else would be interested.
I can report that the Havoc P7 is (unsurprisingly) pretty good. It runs a little hot, but it's not hard to juggle the heat after the OS launchers are empty.
>>98379299It's peak comfy IntroTech. Sometimes it's nice to have a simple game of Mackies vs Firebees and tanks.
>>98379299Direct Age of War? No. Reunification War though yes which I find interesting as a standard tech design isn't always going to be necessarily an upgrade to a primitive.
Guess we now know that Wolverine pilot souls are weighed down by gravity!
>>98379064Is that William with a back shot? Make that gunnery count, kick his ass. Not literally, you have pilot skill 6.
The year is 2499. What is the most appropriate Great House for the Terran Hegemony to be fighting?
I was bored and decided to roll up a random force.Would you lead these 3rd Succession War era shit boxes onto the the 3050s battlefield? Would you actually play this force in a real game?
>>98379825Yeah looks fun, I'd play that
>>98379682On that turn? William was running a bit hot and everyone was jumping. Had to make a choice about heat management. The previous turn however...Anyway, that picture was of the start of turn 6. Turn 6 has now been completed. And with my new larger table, I can just leave the game setup there so it's easier to come back to later, which will encourage me to do more turns more often.
>>98379907Has there been a head destruction fatality yet or have all the kills just crippled the Mechwarrior?
>>98379767Taurian Concordat would be the power they're most afraid of at this time but if they're likely to come to blows with anyone the most likely target would be the Draconis Combine even if neither side has that much to gain from a confrontation at that point.
>>98379767>>98379953I second the Dragons. The TH and DC fought quite a bit and the DC was even among the last of the nobles in the IS to join the SL
are there any notorious tanks in the game with some hull mounted weapons? been dipping my toes into combat vehicles recently and been having a lot of fun with them, was just wondering if there's anything besides the hetzer that has some formidable hull mounted stuff, since those are always cool
>>98379922I'm not sure how strict I should be about enforcing potential pilot death. Are people okay with possibly losing their pilot for good? I will reveal this much, 3 units have been eliminated so far. Taking the unit total from 18 down to 15. It isn't much, but on a personal level, I appreciate how each turn gets just that much quicker. But holy crap am I feeling the crappy gunnery on some of these pilots. If the pilot has 6 gunnery and can make a shot needing 10s, I consider that good and take it every time. Heck, if 12s is even possible, I take it.
How does initiative work in a game with more than 2 teams? Worst case scenario being Free for All
>>98380221Despite their appearance, neither of the generic _RM Carriers actually have turrets. They just have fixed protrusions mounted on a circular base that hold all of their weapons.
>>98380221Demolisher for more of the same.SRM.LRM carriers, and before you quibble, yes, they are.LT-MOB-25, Mobile Long-Tom, for when you want to kill a guy three hex sheets over.
>>98380224It'd open up room for new anons to participate, but since this is supposed to be training and we're not Clanners I can accept only doing pilot damage via melee.
>>98380224>>98380307While it is supposed to be a school, I do think an "accident" or two wouldn't be a bad idea. Maybe add an extra bit of lethality or chance for injury with a headshot or something fitting.
>>98380294>>98380301thank you for the recommendations anons
>>98380391On the clan side, the Aithon has an Elongated Thomas (Enshortened) on its front arc and an itty bitty baby turret with some lasers.
>>98379247ah go ack
>>98380383damn that's some gnarly art. where's it from?
Are there any audio troves? Audiobooks, soundtracks of the various MW and other vidya. Was there ever an OST released for the cartoon?
How rare was the crockett in 3025?
>>98380307I don't think we need to worry about opening up room for more anons. Considering how long it took to fill all the slots, I think everyone that is interested has already rolled someone. If someone is really interested in joining in that hasn't already, I can always find a way to make that work.>>98380307>>98380383As for pilot damage, I'm still counting wounds from head hits and yes, there have been several head hits already. I'm also including a house rule that incorporates Mechwarrior wounds to make things more interesting. I'm not playing that the mechs are fighting to destruction, but I'm not adhering strictly to forced withdraw rules either. Instead, when a mech meets the conditions for a forced withdraw, it will make a PSR at the start of every turn with a modifier of +1 for every Mechwarrior wound. If the PSR is passed, the mech gets to move and fight like normal. If it is failed, the mech tries to withdraw at full speed. I like this idea because I feel like it gives the pilots a bit more personality and lets the piloting skill stat be more involved. A better pilot is more likely to think that they can push their mech further, but wounds will naturally unnerve them a bit. Thoughts on this house rule?Another house rule I've thought about before, but is not being used for this game, is to make MachineGuns more interesting. It would also use a PSR. When firing the MGs, the mechwarrior gets to fire them in a single turn equal to (2d6+1)-Pilot Skill, to a minimum of 1. Again, it would emphasize the skill of the pilot in being able to better utilize the MGs. Might add a caveat of +1 heat for every shot beyond the first. Thoughts on this house rule too?In general, I find that I'm in favor of ways that utilize the piloting skill more.

>>98380221not sure if infamous, but the saladin (AC20) and gladius (AC10) have that solid hover tank destroyer vibe. Plus with sideslipping you can drift them into firing position for style points
Is bringing a King Crab to fight outside urban environments as stupid as bringing an Urbie or Hatchetman?I haven't made/bought building tokens or anything like that so all my fights are in the middle of nowhere
>>98380859Barely. It's not a protected class like mercenaries are, but there are references to privateers in the age of war. There are of course "totally real pirates we swear", but privateers don't try to hide what they are while suspiciously well equipped and biased pirates do.
>>98380945Thats what hills are for. The gauss ppc sniper faggot clanner cannot shoot you from the opposite corner of the board with all those hills and woods between you.

>>98380997>open sightlines to the objective from halfway across the mapohno
>>98380945If you properly support the King Crab with other things your enemy can't ignore then the KC can plod toward a good area to fight in. If you're in a large, open area it will be difficult, but on maps with hills and woods you can use your faster support mechs to bait your enemy into The Claws. Or just put Gauss Rifles on it. Either way works.

Unchecking the Comstar filter makes it appear, so clearly the exclusion doesn't work the way I thought it did.My temporary solution is not blocking via faction, but via component. I just forbid DHS / ferro fibrous / Artemis IV / CASE / Endosteel / ER ... but that has collateral damage in that it does not see some select few cases where IS does have mechs like that early on

>>98380859For the Dracs, yes. They're notorious for having pirates being payrolled by Kuritans to plunder shit; especially if it ends up being against Davions. If you want some good examples, check the Ghost Regiments (made up of Yakuza and other unsavory sorts) and the ALAG (Who go from Mercs/Corpos to House Kurita's lackeys and back, IIRC they're still technically independent, but the Dracs just pay em' so well that they're on their permanent payroll.) >>98380945Depends.
