tbf it works better since he's not at the forefront leading armies or directly interacting with anyone, he's just scheming and manipulating things from the shadows, which works better for a WFRP antagonist.
i was surprised by the amount of Dungeons area's the writers put into this book

Have they done MTOs on Forgeworld models before?
>>
>>98399671
I guess the last question that deserves discussion is CharGen; the concept commands a specific type of person, which means players would be pigeonholed into things like Survivalist, Conquistador, Translator and the sort. There’s an appeal to this, but if there’s an excuse why, say, a Villager is in Lustria than that’s worth exploring too.

The easiest solution is to start in Marienburg. The PCs hear about a fabulous chance for adventure, no questions asked beyond competency. Which gets back to the prior issue but offers some chance for adventures in Marienburg to cut their teeth.

What I think I need to do is a bait and switch. First book of Enemy Within ending with the PCs being hunted by basically everyone, and they catch wind from the rare ally in Bogenhafen (one of the Wastelander noble families) that they’ve got safe harbor in Marienburg.

I don’t know! There are a lot of ways to skin this Skaven.

That is incredibly helpful to know, thank you once more Anon! Fantasy has been very cool to look at as more than a line of interesting miniatures.

As for your other comment, narrative, charm and cool are my eternal preference and first pick.Otherwise I would not be running my Greenskin lads as The Elector-Boss of Morkenberg and his Magnificent Menagerie, let alone writing so much fluff for it. Also will have some Ungor and possibly a Ghorgon as part of the menagerie as allies, since I already own the models. It is all sorts of silly.

You're game is dying again chuds.
I went down to my local game's workshop where I saw a 50 rich families wanting to buy age of sigmar. The children were excitedly looking at the stormcasts and saying, "They look like me!" (some of them were eggs ready to crack like i was at that age) but then some evil chuds said "That game isn't very fun, try whfb or ToW" with his problematic bretonnians (the glorification of catholics is how we get nazi games like trench crudade). And then his skaven playing incel friend said "We'd be happy to teach you a demo", no doubt to groom these kids into neo's like them.
All the parents who were going to buy spearhead boxes backed away and were looking at the ToW games. I could feel the misogyny and transphobia flow through like chud aura. I was shaking my hands that nazis could be in this sacred safe space we bipoc LGBTQIAA+- people founded could be so desicrated. Thats when I knew I had to do something. So I shouted "DRUMPH IS A CONVICTED FELON" at the top of my lungs. This woke the parents out of their stupor and half of them bought 3 boxes of spearhead each joined my discord and are even started subbing to my twitch @kittenrancher690w0

Hows this list?
Is the big lector alter wagon worth it? I just kinda want it because it looks cool. Are veterans good?
The lore idea is that these are Ostermarkers from the southern town of Nachdorf. Many of them are descendants of Sylvanians who fled durring the vampire wars and others of Mordheim survivors.

You need to go way bigger than 20-21 state troops and you need to take the Griffon Banner, again, because State Troops win on resolution not by killing.

I 100% agree with that at least, OP is not getting trolled when people are telling him to bring at least 30 state troops. But if he is dead set on bring 2 units of 20 instead of 1 unit of 40 or whatever 7x3 is still better than 5x4

Add some desert dogs to the mix and you have the basis for a kino army.
I took the liberty to decimate the files and fix some ugly geometry that could cause some print issues. The filesize went down considerably at less than 1% detail loss. Most of the files were ridiculously large, a couple of them were particularly egregious at nearly 1gb for a single infantry figure without having nearly as much detail. The dangers of voxel remeshing, with no cleanup, I suppose.

They added a wife and children to Karl Franz in WFRP 4th, alongside some bastard he got with a cousin, since some jerk off wrote a novel and added those randos in it, what a fuckin waste of paper and ink, all that recton is stupid as hell.
And for those who want to run TEW, the 5th book is complete crap, the PCs spend the first half doing nothing, only reacting when NPCs ask for their opinion on mundane matters. Another one I'll have to mod 90% of the content to fit my players and actual logic.

And on a side note, the last Dragon in the Empire was slain by the 3rd Emperor, which was from the Darkwald, hence the Horn being made from one of Dragon horn

There was also a concept art about a woman noble, the daughter of the Bernhardt the Brave, who took upon herself ot leat the knights after her father's death. I cannot find it, sadly, it was actually intresting to have a Empire noble lady take charge (and agian being alone i her situation makes her badass, as the Bretonnian Joan of Arc , no need for 23534653 women fighting for the Empire.)

Exactly. Ukraine are "de-Russifying" because they live fucking next door to Russia and have a significant number of Russian speakers, which has left them historically vulnerable to Russian influence ops that have - in the view of Ukrainians, YMMV - distorted their own history and culture.

Kislev are a fictional faction in a fictional world made by a British company, conceived as a culturally insensitive(as all Warhammer factions were, and should remain, because it's fucking funny) mashup essentially based on "everyone East of Germany who have fyunny acksyents". >>
>>98404779
definitely don't go 50/50, 30 is a minimum size for a block of state troops. It's up to you what to build them with, halberds or spears are the most popular, generally it isn't worth trying to make them survivable with shields so getting more attacks with spears or more damage with halberds as you tarpit enemy units is considered more useful. The missile units are very much a preference thing, against some armies you'll want the range of crossbows and won't need any AP like elves and TK, whereas other times you'll want AP and don't need range when facing stuff like chaos and handguns are better. You can even kit some missile guys out using the state troop weapons since it's usually not worth fielding 32 of them, two units of 10 for detachments is probably enough.

>>
>>98404880
Typically? Very poorly. There are some advantages, especially if your character doesn't want to be in b2b contact, but generally speaking you want your characters to be in the thick of it.
If you can use the same base for your character as you do for the models he'll be fighting with, try to do so.

Lore question for a Warhammer Fantasy fanfic I’m writing:

How badass and capable is the average Witch Hunter in the Empire of Man supposed to be?
I want to portray one as a major protagonist, but still within realistic lore limits.
>>
>>98405137
Depends a lot on the individual
Most will have quite a few years of experience and will probably have survived some harrowing ordeals because those who don't really have what it takes for the job don't make it far before getting killed, quitting or going mad
Even those who manage to become veterans all have to some degree some sort of mental trouble due to the things they saw and they had to do
You might want to give a read to the book series by Darius Hinks and the Witch Hunter's Handbook he also wrote
I'm sure it will give you some inspiration
>>
>>98405137
It's a very dangerous job. Competency correlates with life expectancy. A veteran Witch Hunter is on par with any other combat oriented character from any other race.
>>
>>98405161
I'm much more of an audiobook kind of guy but if it's on a computer I can usually get by with the internet reading the text also I'm perfectly fine just listening to people on YouTube read story events to an audience like the lead in you the book do you know a YouTube place I can listen to this or PDF I could read?
>>
>>98405137
It takes time
Like for a budding one, you are best getting exp working under a veteran. You should do small things like hanging gypsies or burning synagogues.
Once your and your master manage to survive an actual vampire encounter in a single piece, then you can call yourself experienced

>>98404928
I'd mostly agree with this, remember that State Troops are literally weaker than clanrats, so run them in one big block. Right now I don't think spears are worth the point cost, with the hand weapons getting parry and the press of battle, you're paying an extra point for 1/3 more attacks and losing +1 armor in melee. Although you can choose to fight with their hand weapons and shields. However I would just go with what you like, I don't think it's going to make a huge difference and you don't want to kit them out based on what's the current rules set that'll change in a few years. Honestly I just picked mine based on what province I choose. Poor regions are more likely to field spears, and crossbows are more popular in the south.

Not my experience at all in northern Europe. I've gone to four TOW tournaments since the game launched. Around 18 people each event. About 1/4 bring meta lists cranked to max. But the majority are just there to have a good time and talk about the game/hobby.

Most are 30ish years old with some older guys. No fake names. The older guys are definitely more chill. No morbidly obese people either. Although some clearly have autism.

If you like the game and not a sperg I definitely recommend going to a tournament to at least try it

What would your Bretonnian novel be about anon? Personally I think a story about a great rivalry between a Bretonnian marcher lord and a Beastman warchief plaguing his lands could be kino. You could have all of these symmetrical scenes where both have to struggle to manage their rebellious vassals/underlings, while also keeping on the right side of increasingly esoteric demands from religious authorities (local shaman/damsel). Add a slow burn, barely implied homoerotic undertone to their relationship and I think you just might have a gemerald on your hands. Ends with one of them impaling the other and choking him to death, with which being which dependant on what sort of tone you wish to give your story. Could also pull the classic warhammery twist of the knight winning, but the beastman curses his bloodline with his last breath and the book ends with his wife birthing a turnskin. IDK just throwing ideas at the wall.
>>98405265
So has anyone managed to track down what the new victorian gothic inspired monster/plotline is supposed to be? The only thing Vera revealed about it is that she wrote in a previously not yet warhammerified shelley/poe reference.
>>98406025
Random question, how hard would it be to convert this model to have a rider? I think the Armorcast cockatrice which was pretty much custom made to be converted into a mount is now permanently OOP so I'm going to have to find something else.

Thanks! Like the other anon correctly pointed out, they're Medieval Knights from Conquest games (supposed to be roughly barons war era) with a bunch of Bretonnian, DElf and Deepkin bits mixed in to warhammerify them. I originally bought them just around the time TOW was announced, back when I had no hope whatever that we'd ever see any sort of Bretonnian re-release so I just resigned myself to using pimped up historicals. I now use them as Errants, what with their lack of barding and plate armour.

I feel like raised bases really do so much for the minis though, they provide an excellent frame for the mini to stand on & make them work as stand alone little objects.

Well if you're into the classic warhammer look, there's the ex-citadel Time Warped Wizards series by Warmonger. IMHO all of them except the Legally Distinct Gandalf(tm) don't look particularly trustworthy, though you'd need a good evil-coded colour scheme to make it work. Otherwise you might want to look into the Reaper PF minis collection, it's full of shady looking magic users. To cite a few minis there's Ilnerik Sivanshin (60161), Khalib (60098), Zayafid (60154), Meligaster (60197), Mystic Theurge (60063), Sheila Heidmarch (60138) & Cleric of Mammon (60132). Reaper does have a very different house style to warhammer though, so not sure how these would line up with Empire minis.

Had a 1500p game today against Warriors of Chaos. We rolled and got the Tower scenario (with a monument of glory terrain piece) and I went first after deployment.
I moved my Gors 12” up the field with the help of Travel Mythical Pathways from my Bray Shaman and baited his demon prince into a failed charge before next turn charging his warriors with my Gors and Preyton.
I lose that combat after his demon prince had just enough line of vision to declare a charge.
My Razorgor however on my next turn solo charges his demon prince and dealing 2 wounds to him leaving him with only 1 wound left after the previous combat.
Then my Ghorgon sweeps my right flank while my Beastlord and his Bestigors mops up his chosen, then fights and kills his DP before sweeping up the remaining warriors leaving me victorious.
It’s only a brief and not in detail report but it conveys the important points.

Unless something changed in the newest book, Volley Fire only lets the first full rank fire, then half of each successive rank (rounding up). So you'd get 5 shots from the front, and three from each other ranks for a total of 14 shots.
Unless you were on a hill, in which case the full of the front two ranks can fire; with the same formation, it's now 16 shots.

I'm reading the Mattias Thulmann novels right now and there's a fair bit of attention paid to Knights of Morr. Apparently they've got armour of "obsidian color", apparently a treated/painted steel? They also are uniformly described as wearing black shrouds, stylistically similar to a funeral shroud, over their helmets and across their shoulders. I think it should be pretty straightforward to replicate if you wanted - there's great brands doing colored metallics now, including metallic blacks, and the shroud could just be a tiny square of real cloth dipped in glue

Group wanted to do 500pt battle march day to try out the new mode.
It is horrendously broken. I did two matches, I won on turn 2 both games. The board is way too small. Games were too quick to even make a narrative out of. Neither game I even got my ambush guys.
The first my opponent scooped with only his general on board, the second I tabled my opponent. The board is simply too small to fight against a beastmen list and I thought I brought a middling to weak-ish list. Went up against Wood elves and High elves. Pig ran around a building then turn 2 charged a 5x2 unit of archers killing 5. Warpgors annihilated a unit of 9 dryads down to 1 who fled and I rolled to catch, right into his cav unit that had used fire and flee from my primal herd.
Against the high elves, he had a unit of 8 skirmish archers with scout he put in front of the pig figuring he could shoot it down with stand and shoot. 6 killed archers, they fled past his 10 man wide unit of regular archers, which the pig crashed into for another 5 wounds. Warpgors on turn 2 charged his last unit and did 8 on the charge. Both units fled, both got run down, his general was in the one the warpgors charged.

Wild Herd, Battle March
Bray-Shaman, Braystaff, Wizard [Level 2 Wizard], General, On foot, Lore of Primal Magic - 95
Primal Warherd, 10x Gors [10x Two hand weapons], 10x Ungors [10x Thrusting spears + Shields], Full Command - 147
8 Gor Herd, Additional hand weapons, Ambushers - 56 (the free ambush for wild herd)
1 Razorgor Herd, Hand weapons (tusks), Light armour (calloused hide) - 52
9 Warped Gors, Shields, Standard bearer - 150

warhammer fantasy in general has always been a came with fucking awful balance that requires 10 different levels of gentlemens agreements and handshakes to keep it from devolving into an unplayable mess, and small format games are that on steroids.

i really think its just meant to be a couple units of doofus infantry and some basic characters with no magic items walking corially towards each other and having a fistfight, and anything else will bend the format over its knee and spank it

Wonder where the helmets and horses are from
>>
>>98410456
The helmets are from the previous Chaos Knights or Warriors. I have a bunch of them from my army.
>>
>>98410456
chaos warriors and chaos knights
>>
>>98410444
I called that the games just a waste of an effort to try and chase. I get they want to sell it to new players but the game just doesn’t lend itself well for that. It’s simply the nature of the beast.
>>98410456
The helmets are from the now oop chaos warriors. I don’t know if the horses are from chaos knights but the barbed armor is similar to them at least.
>>
>>98410456
The helmets are from the 2004 chaos warriors kit and the horses as well as the sickle-axe wielded by the unit champion are from the 2007 chaos knights kit. I do not recognize the lances for certain, but they look a lot like the ones from the bretonnian knights of the realm kit.

A are elties, B are regular, and C are low quality troops, numbers are a single soldiers. but I,d assume there's dozens and dozens of undead just below the surface ready to burst out at their masters' command.

Girlfriend surprised me with a box of the Gloomspite Troggoths today, "so your Goblins will have some big friends!" according to her exact words. If I can make them fit on 40mm squares, will I be safe running them in WHFB/TOW? If not, I guess I am starting a Gloomspite Gitz army in AoS.

they do fit on 40mms pretty well. gloomspite are one of the few soulful aos armies (because gobbos are always cool) but if you already have a goblin force for TOW they should be great for it
>>
>>98411564
I often regret getting a box of trolls I saw for age of sigmar because I don't follow the game. Don't know the name of the box, but I think it had a troll character, 6 stone trolls and 6 river trolls or something like that. Didn't get it because I've been looking for the 6th edition stone trolls at a decent price since I was a kid and getting the box seemed like cheating

I'd recommend building all state troops with swords and shields. 10 handgunners, 10 crossbows and then convert 10 missile troops to halberdiers (really easily done) if you ever want to run halberdiers (just place them in the front ranks of your swordmen unit).

In the current state of the game state troops are there only for static combat res. They're still somewhat overcosted for that as bretonnian peasants (and every other horde unit) does the same role for half the cost.

You dont want to run big missile units anyways as the back rank doesn't get to shoot unless you put them on a hill and even then their damage output just sucks.

>>
>>98411845
Thank you and congratulations, Anon! I have some time. Girlfriend and I both work from home, so we have time to spend with the kiddo. We alternate and help each other with chores and cooking meals and tend to wind down the day reading to the kiddo and/or doing painting of miniatures and breaking out coloring books with him before he goes to bed. Energy is not always at max, but it comes with getting into my 40's.

Reminds me of when I lost half my warhammer in a fire my gf spent loads of money trying to by me replacements of them but she knew nothing about warhammer so she just had to go on the stuff that didn't burn down still in the house. So I just got an exact copy of all the shit I still had, one of the most heartfelt things she's ever done (like £700 spent on me) and I never had the heart to tell her that it was kind of just a bit useless.
