Now I just have to make sure all the minis and the 3rd party minis' eyes are recesses for this to work. Maybe a black contrast then a black wash over it. I'm not quite sure yet.

Around midnight some of these boxes were put up for 165 bucks, someone instantly added them all to cart and bought them
Now I see this guy posting this

Here's the thing- GW doesn't allow official partners to scalp boxes like this. This guy isn't a third party LGS, I'm pretty sure he's some faggot buying boxes off ebay and then flipping them to resell for more, cornering the market jewishly.
>>
>>98403235
A lot of SM players see them the say way insane autists see Primaris Marines as "newer better Batman who replaces my Batman" so I think that's the bulk of it.
The other stuff comes from them only ever being painted one way, and also their stat checky nature
>>

A kid on the playground says nuh uh my dudes are even more special and enhanced than your space marines, then asks Donald Trump for advice on aesthetics. They're tacky and gauche and have no flaws that would create and interesting conflict or story. They attract the worst sort of player, one who wants to make the smallest investment and still insists on being seen as the best (and will throw a tantrum when the illusion is shattered). The type of child who leaves a brush in paint water while they take a photo.
>>
>>98403235
It never makes any sense for them to join our fights. We always have to come up with super convoluted reasons when my friend's little brother brings his golden boys.
>>
>>98403235
People feel like Custodes players didn't "earn it" whenever they do well because they spent £150 total (plus £5 on the gold car primer from amazon) on their army instead of a couple of grand.

Why do "My faction is the good guy" fags always moralfag about the other factions while ignoring the equivalent shit their's does?
Also why can't they be happy with "Oh Imperium, Eldar, Votann, Tau are the good guys/order compared to everyone else" they go "nuuh uuh only one of them is only good because *insert shit reasoning here*"
>>
>>98403354
if they're delusional enough to think 'their guys' are good they are proving they don't care about lore, and will say whatever they want to believe is true
>>
>>98403294
>how dare you spend less money on this hobby than me
Weird to think there are people who think like this in the world. Just bizarre.
>>
>>98403359
>>98403354
It's just right-wingers/chuds identifying with the Imperium and projecting onto it, so when they insist that the Imperials are good guys they are actually saying that they themselves are the good guys.
On the other side of the coin are the woketards and leftists who adopt the factions that oppose the Imperium as a counterculture move.

Both groups of retards don't care for the setting or the game. They are just using it as a vehicle for the culture war.
>>
>>98403368
There are some people who genuinely act like your moral values have to align with the faction you play. Which is insane logic for a silly little murder sports game. But some people make their hobbies a big part of their identity and have trouble separating the banter between factions with insults levied at their players.
>>
>>98403368
Also, notice that most of them are fucking American. The toxicity of their cultural discourse is infecting many fandoms, and it's getting unbearable in 40K.
We need to nuke the US....
>>
>>98403354
Because they are stupid and fundamentally don't understand the setting, it's that simple.
Every guy who unironically goes "imperium is the good guys because they are human" is entirely missing the forest for the trees and missing the point.
They are unironically the types of people who say that any of the objectively inhuman and evil shit the imperium does is justified because they are "human", to them it doesn't how horrific the shit gets it's "preferable to extinction".
I'd rather have humanity become extinct than discard my morals or the morals of the human species down the drain, because that thinking eventually it just leads to a society like that of the dark eldar or even chaos. Which are objectively evil.
>>
>>98403354
>"nuuh uuh only one of them is only good because *insert shit reasoning here*"
This is the part which annoys me. I have 0 problems with people saying Imperium is one of the good guys, they are imo.
But the imperialfags saying they are the only good guys because they are human is shit logic. Self-inserting isn't an argument that decides what is good in a setting. If elves were real they could say the same for Eldar etc.
Te good guys in 40K are the ones who are not trying to slaughter the galaxy of their own, but trying to survive and forge a future for their species. They fight each other, but that isn't good vs evil it's just one group's interest vs another's. I'm an ethno-nationalist and I will support my ethnic group's interest, but that doesn't make my ethnic group the objective good guys of planet earth. Other groups have their own interests, and we simply choose to prioritize our own groups over the other. When it comes to good vs evil, you can do the previously mentioned shit in a good way, or an evil way, that's the morality part, but in-group prefrence is neutral & natural, just different interests.
>>

I always thought the appeal of 40k was everyone was shitty. It's the epitome of like... my faction is awful but you can root for the anti heroes... who basically are heroes anyway because the other guy is always worse.

Take marines, they will kill a million innocent people if ordered too but on screen they rarely are shown doing it. So you can root for the Titus types, or enjoy being a scum bag like the Minotaurs.

The sisters are fanatical monsters who will torture anyone who shows a lack of faith, and burn down functional wars of trivial issues of religious doctrine. But they also can heroically stand against demons, that same faith a positive quality in a different light.

This applies to almost every faction except chaos and tyranids really, who exist to just be plainly evil/antagonistic and that can be fun to roleplay as well.

The great success of 40k was that by stealing everything from pop culture and distilling it into a soup there is something for everyone, and everything is multi-faceted.

Retards/newfags to 40k will read one short story that depicts their faction or favorite character heroically and that's where their brain stops. For them that's the final answer. Its simply a case of them being inferior people, which is not a moral failing so much as it is annoying. Nuance is beyond them. Ironically, this nuance is part of why 40k actually IS a satirical and hyperbolic setting by its nature but often these are the people who screech its satire while completely not fucking getting it.

I am not "terminally online" as the youth say.
I just got shown this preview, I do not know how long it is public. I never meant to disrespect the anons here.
I just wanted to say two things, really.
1) I do not know, if I am very late with this information, but here is my opinion:
2) An Eldar riding an AOS style seraphon is so incredibly lame, I genuinely fail to put it into words
This feels like a bad fanfiction. The fact that, apparently, the kit is already sold out is just mind-boggling.

The Exodites hate the Dark Eldar because they're like the best quality slaves in the galaxy, being able to both work at higher skill levels and experience deeper lots of despair, and they constantly prey upon them. Because something like the IA battleforce box initially had high sales due to scalpers then sat on shelves for years. Selling out initially isn't really a good gauge because of scalping, they are retarded and auto purchase all stock immediately. What is really a good gauge is how much the scalpers are selling them for, and they are selling REAL high this time even by kill team standards. Which is kind of incredible because they are bundled with a bunch of orc models most people dont want. So we can infer the demand for the dinos is actually some of the highest we have seen for kill team ever.

tl;dr not a flop

The mount looks like shit, and I honestly think it's a repurposed Sylvaneth design that didn't make the cut for AoS. Those arms look like they were designed to be holding a weapon and shield. The rider looks good though, minus the feather plume. The feather and fur GW slaps on everything looks terrible, I blame it on incompetent and lazy digital sculpting.

Or his '''friend'', the female clone of Macharius, who decides she's going to murder him over a misunderstanding. Characters were allowed to be complete scum and assholes who would murder each other over the smallest inconvenience.

NTA but I'm sorry to tell you this but the idea that wargear are these holy relics handed down got abandoned back in 8th edition with primaris coming out. Now everything exists in as much abundance as they need. The whole scarcity due to society failing theme is just completely gone in favor of horus heresy style ultraviolence. Remember how for 20-30 years of warhammer history fluff talked about how the rhino had served humanity for twenty thousand years? Yea, thats not a thing anymore. Now cawl just shits out a superior design because superhero Girlyman said so. Thats just the way it is. Sorry to break the news.

Take me back to the period of time when Primaris were introduced in real life and lore. I wasn't into Warhammer in the period of time before Primaris. What was the general sentiment towards them player wise? What is the general consensus towards them in the lore? To me, Primaris seem weird because do chapters even make "regular" marines now if they have the ability to make Primaris marines? Even more weird, Primaris have all this new gear associated with them that was apparently made 10k years ago. Is that correct? I am more curious about player sentiment at the time of release because I didn't experience it. I imagine people were hyped for new stuff but not hyped because they would have to buy a lot.
>>
>>98404674
I think the whole edition is slanted towards more elite teams so anything elite is probably pretty heavyhanded.
>>
The biggest problem with bladeguard wargear is the neo volkite pistol. Why the hell did they randomly bring back volkite technology just so these guys could hoard it in exclusively pistol form? Where are the bigger guns? Why did we never see this stuff again? It's exclusive to the shield lieutenant and bladeguard sergeants, not even captains get it why?
>>
>>98404098
>prioritize safe homogenized decisions over interesting innovative ones
This is all part of it. Artists are treated as another employee, expected to put in the bare minimum in order to cater to the lowest common denominator. AI will be a tool artists end up using to keep up with increasingly mind-numbing demands alongside increased output.
>>
>>98404698
Obligatory vanilla vs French vanilla jokes. For non-marine players, it was somewhere between laughter at Space Marines potentially being squatted and unhappiness that Marines get so much attention they have a form of infighting others can't even do.

It's because they stole volkite from ad mech the same way they also stole heavy stubbers from the guard.
>>
>>98404674
I have not played killteam in a little bit but for a short period of time every new team that was released was considered extraordinarily strong upon release
I believe sanctifiers dominated the meta for a period
If you’re just getting into it, some of the best starting teams are angels of death and plague marines
They are strong without being overpowered, and their rules are pretty simple
Honestly, though just play what you want
>>
>>98404701
When you say "elite" what do you mean? In the context of kill team isn't every operative an elite of some kind?
>>
>>98404719
By elite I mean smaller teams compared to more numerous teams. For instance, raveners are hella strong.
>>
>>98404698
Universally negative, we all saw it for what it was, a blatant attempt to oblige all those marine pigs who already had full marine armies to buy another one

Designwise it was when they were at their wackiest and the team was making a clear effort to separate them from manlets for the replacement, whereas they have clearly since made a choice to totally reverse that direction

No elite teams have a small number of operatives that are individually stronger
This is contrasted against horde teams which have a large number of units that are individually weaker
If your individual units have seven wounds but have like 13 units on your team for instance, you are most likely playing a horde team
If your individual units have 15 wounds or 14 wounds, then you are most likely playing an elite team that has like six units
They also recently introduced super-elite teams that only have five units

But you can give an iron halo as a badge of honor. Or just have a halo design as a decorative element. The same way the iron skull is a badge for leadership but skulls are also found all over Imperial designs. Or how the Imperialis went from a badge of heroism to mark of loyalty to just being a design element plastered everywhere.
>>
>>98404750
>So is GW still making new models for regular marines then?
Terminators and Scouts were new updates to old Marine units that didn't change them to be Primaris, so yes, they finally started going back on the Primaris replacements a bit, but then they just did the new shitty Landspeeder with Primaris elements for 11th so it's all a bit of a coin toss.

Like I said, it’s been a little bit
I know that they have both heirotek and cryptek
If I recall correctly both teams rely very heavily on their leader unit and they throw their little disposable guys forward, infinitely respawning them as long as the leader unit is kept alive
So basically you keep your leader unit safe and use him to turtle and buff your other guys who just run forward infinitely fighting dying and respawning while you secure objectives behind them

"primaris" and "firstborn" are marketing terms that games workshop felt would help placate fans while they slowly replaced the entire space marine line with (closer to) truescale marines that people had been converting in rising numbers for years. they had the black library hacks write a few disposable novels to make it feel like more of an event.

it was and continues to be an enormous financial success. milking the replacement and redesign process over ten years while still selling the most popular old kits (tactical squads, rhinos, land raiders) has made the company rich beyond its wildest dreams. against all odds they've kept boomers clinging on to the idea that they'll reverse course any day now rather than quitting entirely. primaris units outsell everything else they make, even the stuff that gets made fun off (phobos, go-kart, hover tanks etc.)

but now we're nearing the end of that 10 year cycle. the marketing terms are being retired. there's no mention of any distinction between primaris and firstborn in the next codex. it's just space marines with no visible difference between newer and older.

The old stuff is mostly all still allowed and has rules. So its more a slow updating/phasing out with the newer stuff being much more nostalgia baity and using old armor marks in the new primaris scale.

They will NEVER go back to manlet scale (a good thing)

The scale was not the issue, it was that they were entirely new units with different options (or really lack thereof) and equipment on top of being in a new scale, so they were completely incompatible with old units.

>it was and continues to be an enormous financial success
This has never been proven, 100% of the time you fags rely on claiming that all the money made at the launch of 8th edition must be Primaris, when in reality 8th was the biggest reset of the rules 40k had ever seen and players who had been out of the game for 5, 10, 15 years or more all came flooding back at once and they bought out almost GWs entire stock of every faction, not just marines.

Yeah almost no one agrees with you. The scale is better but it doesn't matter because they fucked the designs so hard. Then Horus Heresy got new upscaled plastics showing what we could have had instead and mogged them into the dirt, and they realized they fucked up and walked it back, giving us upscaled Terminators instead of, as said before, some bullshit like Gravis Destructators with Omnishit Fagrifles.

Dude you can read the financials. They're a public company. "Never been proven" to dipshits who refuse to listen.

The reason they did new units first was so they could keep selling the most popular mainstay units as long as possible. If you take the blinkers off it's completely obvious why we only got new terminators in 10th, and tacticals remained on sale into 11th. It was a great chance for them to try weird shit, have their cake and eat it too.

I genuinely don't even believe Space Marines sell more than other factions once you adjust for the fact that they get auto-included in every starter set and almost every versus box and have half a dozen subfactions all getting their own releases. They rely on the crutch of combining the sales of Generic Marines, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Black Templars, Deathwatch, and Grey Knights all into one and then will compare that to something like just "Orks" and go "look we sell more!" but it's doubtful it's actually that much more per kit. Everyone owns space marines because everyone buys the launch boxes and can't all be assed to sell them secondhand, they just sit around on the sprues in a backlog or eventually get built and painted because "I already have them fuck it" but the popularity of the faction compared to the others is way overblown. Imperial Guard frequently win polls on most popular faction, everyone I personally knows plays xenos primarily, xenos are more highly represented in some of the latest tournament data, etc.

Interesting. This is actually different from back when I played. Back in the day it was one unit, now it's any number of units and they just have to cumulatively be within the transport capacity.

So I think I will test out placing a squad of Eradicators in a Repulsor Executioner, and then a techmarine unattached as a second unit in the transport so he can hop out and buff the Executioner while the Eradicators do their own thing.

> scalpers make assumptions on future demand by buying as much as possible
> this, alone, indicates how popular a release is
Anons, you're forgetting the "future demand" projection that scalpers (at least the smart ones) make when deciding which product to load up on. It's an educated guess, at best. Here's where your logic fails (it's simplified to illustrate my point):
> 1) GW produce 1000 units of the Exodite KT box
> 2) Scalpers buy all 1000
> 3) Actual end-buyers (I.e. players) only buy 200
By your logic, it was a great success because all 1000 units sold instantly. But only 200 actual players ever purchased a box, meaning 800 (or 4/5 of total stock) was never truly purchased. By using the scalpers listed price OVER TIME, it helps indicate whether the boxes are selling quickly or not, a metric for interest. Like a home seller dropping the price incrementally over months, it indicates how much interest there is in the product. GW selling to scalpers does little to explain actual interest and success in the sales specifically because scalpers aren't the actual players, they're middlemen trying to take a little for themselves before the product gets into the hands of the actual player. There are many more metrics you'd have to consider to get an accurate number, but looking at Scalper purchases alone doesn't prove anything. If the scalpers collectively drop prices periodically to below MSRP (we've seen this with scalped boxes in the past), that is more accurate indicator of interest. By no means is this me suggesting this box was a flop or success, I personally like Eldar (except Ynnari), but the point stands on itself.

Yeah, our largest data set we have available that measures everyone that ever used the tabletop battles app during 10th edition (casuals and tournaments) shows that something like 37% of all games played were by xenos players, 38% by Imperium players, and 25% by chaos. But space marines only account for a little more than half of all Imperium games played. Which is still definitely the most of any single faction but probably not by much and definitely not if you count it as five seperate factions like it actually is. I think the actual most played single faction was Necrons in 10th.

Pretty much. From a weapon perspective, they're literally shining spears, but also from a model perspective. I just want an Autarch Skyrunner refresh so I can finally lead shining spears again. Also, their ability rule is pretty meh considering they're only saving 2" of movement over TAKE TO THE SKIES. Pretty lackluster if I'm being honest. Hoping the codex changes it perhaps

why do all these stores have online stores if they don't ship out of their local area

Sometimes you'll google for a product GW no longer sells since 2016 and find it in some random ass "Wargames and Mead, New Independencetown, Statesota" a thousand miles away but they're so far from fucking everything no one bothered to travel there to buy and scalp the box.

>>98405664
my FLGS mostly maintains an online store so locals can browse available stock from home

shipping destroys margins, so if you arent doing it at high volume its usually not worth it, it can eat an extra $10-20 off every order. you can make the buyer pay shipping but that will often deter customers who can just buy from ebay from some major seller with free shipping.

if it is a legit little mom and pop shop, you can actually try calling them and seeing if they're willing to ship if you pony up the shipping costs. small stores like that you usually get the actual store owner on the phone and they're very often willing to deal with someone actually talking to them

quit throwing buzzwords around. I said the old model was bad as well, and that Aethon Shaan (an even newer, near universally loved model) looks cool. unlike the skinny jean wearing, training wheel booted, completely horizontal purity seal waving, undrilled smoke barrel shooting, flap steering, warframe mask covered, fledgling claw slicing, thigh jet traveling abomination that is that model.

>resents his daddy (GW loves this plotline) for not loving him enough
>maybe he's a bastard son of the dragon emperor with a human woman who was kept quiet
>emperor and several dragons disappear or go into hiding/go overseas for some adventures
>lord takes advantage of the fragmentation of the realm to take control of the major cities
>romance of the three dragons
In a certain sense cathayan lore would probably make more sense if the dragon emperor was just the first emperor and was asleep along with the dragon kids and his descendants are human-dragon hybrids who run the realm, then you can have actual CHING CHANG CHONG ATE 20,000 HOSTAGES TO SURVIVE THE SIEGE OF BING BANG BONG shenanigans.

GW cares about money first, market fairness/availability second. They only care if boxes don't sell AT ALL, scarcity (even artificial scarcity via scalping) is directly in their best interest as a company. Scalpers buy first runs of boxes no matter what to scalp them, so then it surmises that GW won't notice a problem until the 2nd run of boxes reach stores when real consumers in the local market can see them and decide to buy or not.

https://www.newrecruit.eu/app/list/WzDNK

What do we think of Calgar joining Aggressors instead of terminators? They match his weapon and toughness profiles better. He loses deep strike but deep strike makes him miss out on CP generation for a turn or two anyway so I like deploying him on the board and walking him into the center objective.

What do we think of Greyfax joining one of the shooty squads? She grants the unit anti-psyker 4+ and +1 to hit against half strength units which could be funny.

What do we think of techpriests riding along inside repulsors separate from the main unit in order to heal it and boost their shooting throughout the match? Would a third one sitting back with the dreads/gladiator to heal/boost them too be worth it?

What do we think of Titus leading a 10 assault intercessors for sustained hits on like 40 attacks in melee? With the new rules that you can disembark into combat, them riding in the repulsor keeps them safe and then direct deposits them. There are pros and cons to transports in this edition, but one of the positives is the rule about disembarking directly into combat, and this set up takes the most advantage of that. It might even be reasonable to add a Support model to that unit, like an Ancient or something, just to make it more super.

I think there are some cool little synergies in this list and it comes out to 2k exactly at the moment.

This month's theme was "heavy" and was left to your own interpretation.
I'll try to post an anchor every thread but if you can't spot me write"here is my july collage submission" and it'll be way easier to find you in the archive.

I have 4 of these. One with nids, one with eldar, one with sob, and one with marines, all 4000+ points, and it accommodates all of them despite that many models and weird shapes and sizes like a wraithknight and a trygon and such. Wheels means you don't have to carry it, and you can see which box is which, etc. Lots of cool stuff. Use magnets glued under the models to keep the still on the tray while driving
