Is GW even creativly able to create a fifth chaos god whose soliders can match and fit in with the other four while also being distinct in design at a glance like them

Well, they made six in fantasy so I guess it's possible.

Horned rat doesn't count, neither does Hashut, those are race/ faction specific chaos gods

its so sad, it feels weird how between the two main ways of skaven-human relations, neither the enslaved humans who bow down to skaven, or the city folk who see rats everyday and act as servants to skaven don’t think to worship the horned rat while the big four get worshippers as soon as someone gets a whiff of them.

The ideal of Tzeench(fuck Tzangors) is a bit amorphous though (fuck Tzangors) it is a thing in flux (fuck Tzangors) that should all be horrifyingly not one thing nor another (fuck Tzangors) and really, for lack of a better expression Lovecraftian horror (fuck Tzangors). I think that's where the trouble lies since once you have the one blob unit, Horrors (fuck Tzangors), it does become far harder to express clearly something in flux without it being too blobby (fuck Tzangors).
P.S. Fuck Tzangors.

No. They'll be part of a 30k release, they'll get digital rules for 40k like all the other 30k custodes stuff. They'll have no bearing on the schedule for the 40k codex, beyond the fact that they might feature in it now that GW is committing to making the custodes range valid for both games.

Played my first game of 11th, admech recon vs. custodes disruption. Had to use a 3rd party website to figure out the mission rules.

Pretty funny as recon you get 4 points a turn for an action where one of your units just looks at an enemy and says "yep, it's fucking right there," which won the game.

Probably fucked up the terrain rules since we used painted gang boxes instead of GW standard compslop terrain setup but overall just seems like a variation of 10th ed. Still had fun.

>A new edition in July 2025 provided some never seen before miniatures from this deep, rich story along with an updated version of the
rules. Ongoing sales show that hobbyists are busy bolstering their armies with new additions to take advantage of new tactics that come
with the new rules.

>Another stand out moment was the release of the new Custodes miniatures in the last quarter of the year. Ever popular amongst hobbyists
the new miniatures were received exceptionally well. We are only three years in - just getting started with our Horus Heresy offer.

does combat parol magazine come with models or does it give discounts?
>>
>>98431884
Normal version gives you models and paints sometimes, like it'll give you half the Rockgrinder sprue and then the other half in the subsequent issue. Rockgrinder is like 69 bucks now on the gw website and each issue costs 15 bucks so that's 32 bucks for a rockgrinder, absolutely mogging GW's retarded prices. Eventually you will receive all the models in each of the 9th edition combat patrols. The premium version apparently gives extra models but costs 3 dollars more per issue, unsure if worth it.
>>
>>98431890
shame it's not avilable in eu. As for model prices, don't LFGs give you discounts?
>>
>>98431896
it depends but because of scalpers a lot of local businesses now have exceptions to the discounts.
>>
>>98431896
LGS (should) only cap at about 10-15% discounts. Any higher than that and GW might pull their deal.

That is not going to beat a $32 Rockgridner.

Even if we disregard the entire stone age and only start from the metallic age, the Tau still would have advanced to exceed humanity's own tech in less than 6,000 years while humanity had a 'mere' 44,000 year head start.

So I decided my current army to build/play would be Tsons, but ever since I started I’ve had an undying fascination with Emperor’s Children. I have almost everything I need/want for my Tsons lists, so I’ve started purchasing EC models.

The issue: obviously James Workshop wants my every last penny so I’m trying to save some money while doing 2 armies at once (kinda).

The idea: for the shared models (rhinos, land raiders, forge/maulerfiends, etc.) I want to stylize for both armies. Obviously I could go the generic CSM black, gold and and silver route, but I don’t like being too generic. I was originally gonna do just a straight divide down the center of each model, Tsons one side, EC the other. I’m thinking there could be other, more creative ways to do this though. Any ideas?

No, this is not canon, and yes you're projecting because the same accusation moved towards the tau as a created speedbump race also applies to humans and that fact triggered your outburst >>98432538

It doesn't though as the emperor created the imperium himself. The Tau do not move under their own will, did not become civilized or united under their own will and their technological development is mostly spurred as a result of eldar tampering with their development and genome to create a credible threat to distract the imperium from the eldar.

And that suggests the tau were made, but not that they were made as distraction or speedbump or whatever for the imperium, that's the part that's being contested, because it's a baseless fanfiction; the same book has the eldar doing the kidnapping saying that the point was to create a race immune to chaos, so you can throw your homo-centric view out of the window.

>euthanizes humans to keep their population down
>despite being confirmed repeatedly by GW itself
that's not been said repeatedly, it happened once, and other instances show that it isn't a standard practice.

if you want to seethe and moan at the tau, use actual canon instead of using fanfictions, because it only shows you don't actually have a reason to seethe and moan at the tau.

>And that suggests the tau were made
they already existed, their genome and development were tampered with to accelerate their civilizational level 10 times faster than humans in order to keep the imperium occupied and unable to advance further into the eastern fringe of the galaxy where the Maiden Worlds are located. A number of other alien empires exist here, conveniently between the imperium and the Maiden worlds. What a coincidence!
>that's not been said repeatedly, it happened once, and other instances show that it isn't a standard practice.
GW literally confirmed last week the tau are a totalitarian empire, not a happy fun multispecies utopia, that looks good only by comparison to everyone else and you are still in denial.

>where the Maiden Worlds are located
the maiden worlds aren't clustered specifically in the eastern fringe, they're hidden everywhere

>GW literally confirmed last week the tau are a totalitarian empire
reread the previous post, the part that's been contested is the culling/castration of humans, not that the tau are totalitarian

AoS cannot stand on its own feet as long as it's built on the end times, as long as it keeps parading DEI shit instead of actual characters, as long as they don't cram a pair of autists on drugs in a room to obsessively make sense of the realms, and as long as the online reception of the setting is filtered firstly and mostly through the lenses of retarded 40k loretubers who can't get the first or second shit right even if they were paid to do so.

They are addressing the last two points by scrapping the realms and making it another normal world, and by making the misconceptions retards have had for the past 10 years into the actual canon, but they will never address the first two points.

So AoS is doomed forevermore.
>>
>>98432931
>Will an Age of Sigmar animated show done well make the popularity of AoS soar
Honestly, no. A good videogame MIGHT, but these shows are more for people who are already fans than for onboarding newbies. If you watch the Secret Level with Teedus, it explains precisely fuckall and leaves you completely in the dark as to what's going on if you don't know 40K and especially if you don't know Titus. I watched it with some friends who only have a passing knowledge of 40K and they were mostly lost on what was happening half the time.

AoS ironically kinda has too much going on that no singular piece of media can capture the full "vibe" of the setting with all the Realms and shit. You'd either need to hard focus on the little guy (my suggestion would be a -Tidelike that focuses on a new Cities of Sigmar settlement with a basebuilding element where you build up your settlement in between missions to survive sieges by various foes) or something that captures the realm-hopping scope of the setting (my suggestion would be a Soulslike with Realmhopping like Remnant where a Sigmarine is hopping between different realms to fight different enemies and get Realm-aspected weapons to better fight enemies in other Realms)
>>
>>98432966

In the short it's showing Titus is literally a psychopath incapable of a fear response.
It's always said that Marines know no fear, but in all media it's shown that they do know the fear response but have trained themselves not to give into it. The daemon invaded the minds of the marines and poked at the most primal fear centers of their minds, beyond all their training and safeguards, and when they struck out against what they thought was a threat, it turned out they struck themselves in fear.
The daemon couldn't provoke that from Titus because there was no fear response to be found. And we see Metaurus proctoring Titus's initiation and even then, Titus' lack of fear response as a child disturbed and frightened him.
It's pretty fucking shrimple.
But you're too stupid to even spell his name right, so I don't know why I could expect you to get what's right fucking there in front of you.

Honestly it's a perfectly fine model and I'd have no problem with it if the Goliaths were more like CP2077's animals. But the fact remains the Goliath's whole fucking shtick is being the hypermasculine mirror to Escher's hyperfeminist punk amazons. You can't add musclecunts to Goliath without adding shamanistic femboys to Escher, which they'll never do because GW are weak idpol queers.

I always found it a weird phenomenon when authors try to write inserts of people they hate and they end up looking cool when they try even without such context.

This happens not just for Warhammer 40k but also for lots of media. The Empire from Star Wars is a big one.
I'm not sure if Warhammer 40k counts as it tries to maintain an "everyone is a bad guy" thing but people love the Imperium of Man when it seems a lot of BL authors try their hardest to make the audience hate it.

You reminded me of the Exodite Warhammer+ show. How did that wrap up? Big nothing in the end? I think it was animated by the lads who took those 3D models from that Warhammer 40k chess game (yes that one) and modified them and made GMOD models that got used in SFM animations.
Yes SFM is still used today somehow. I like the look of it and want to replicate it in Blender but I fear bricking my PC with it somehow or James sending hitmen after me if I make a 40k animation as supposedly GW was stopping fan animations.

>I always found it a weird phenomenon when authors try to write inserts of people they hate and they end up looking cool when they try even without such context.
It's because most modern writers are largely unprincipled materialists who think they're inherently morally correct and think that morality flows forth from whatever they tell you is correct via "the protagonist is Good, therefore everything they do is also Good". Conversely, their villains tend to be a strawman of someone WITH actual principles and ideals (even if they're flawed ones or ones you might personally disagree with) so they end up coming across as heroic, or at least believing in something and acting with conviction in those beliefs.

A great example of this is how Alan Moore intended for Rorsach to be a loser who everyone was supposed to hate and be glad when he died, and seethed endlessly at people seeing him as the only hero in a world gone rotten.
>The Empire from Star Wars is a big one.
Empire is a bad example because whatever you can say about George Lucas he understood thematics and aesthetics. The evil guys HAVE to look powerful and cool for it to be impressive when the good guys overcome them.

A better example is the Empire under Disney, where they have to be a stand-in for the alt-right or neonazis or chuds or whatever, but also are heckin wholesome and diverse and led by tons of mixed race girlbosses. The Imperium runs into a lot of this too, where BL writers want you to hate the Imperium but also can't help themselves from giving it gender equality and free trans-affirming surgical healthcare.

I like some of their stormtrooper variants but that's about it. I thought the First Order was wasted potential from the name alone as it contradicted them. Should have been "new Empire" or maybe a made up word followed by "Empire."

What author's BL book or Codex portrayed the Imperium right in your opinion?

For me the proper Imperium portrayal is just showing the Imperium as a necessary evil in the current time. Maybe it was at fault back then, but this is now. Humanity stalls the end together or perishes sooner divided.

>I still found the Empire cool when I was a kid.
You're supposed to, that's the point. They're cool and scary and powerful, a legitimate threat to be overcome. And while Lucas can say they're a stand-in for Nixon or whatever, he either by intention or by accident made them a very classic, fundamental sort of villain that everyone can relate to. He also gave them actual values so you can have someone legitimately believe in the Empire's message without being a mustache-twirling evil for evil's sake villain, even if that's arguably what the Emperor was.

Andor is a great example of this. Syril is just an autistic guy who earnestly believes in law and order and ultimately gets broken by the Empire's corruption and power-seeking for this, but he was a willing and faithful cog in the machine up until that moment.
>like some of their stormtrooper variants but that's about it.
Not really what I meant, but yeah. Funnily enough Disney's best creative work has been in the OT era. Shoretroopers, Deathtroopers, U-Wings and TIE Reapers are all very cool additions to Star Wars.
>I thought the First Order was wasted potential from the name alone as it contradicted them.
Even when they go back to the Empire they also can't help themselves (outside of Andor). Like that Kenobi show and how it was actually about a black girlboss who killed children but dindu nuffin wrong.
>What author's BL book or Codex portrayed the Imperium right in your opinion?
Admittedly, I haven't read many BL books but of the ones I've read almost all of them kinda stumble here or there. Even the ones I like such as Ciaphas Cain feel the need to tweak it to their own personal tastes. Which with the Imperium being so vast and inefficient you can kinda get away with having your own "take" on how it runs in certain regions.

Of codices and such, the Wrath and Glory setting docs are actually a great take on not just the Imperium, but how it operates under duress, since it's on the darkside of the Rift.

Warhammer 40k is about as niche as Harry Potter books are back when Harry Potter was in it's heyday before JK Rowling said something that may have gotten blown out of proportion.

I wonder if Harry Potter was genuinely good and people just say it is bad now because of what Rowling said.
Remember those old annoying clickbaits and posts always using Harry Potter as an analogy to the point "read another book" became a meme?

That hasn't happened yet for Warhammer 40k where Canada is Ultramar and America is the Imperium of Man and North Korea is the Tau Empire or a stupider equivalent.
But it is gonna happen soon and sooner than we think because Russians are genuinely compared to orks because Slavs love Warhammer 40k and I think there is a military company that uses Khorne as a symbol. I found that weird, but I think GW execs love that.

I now know why so many people play space marines; it's because the players are old and want to have an easier time painting.
>>98433590
The tabletop game is still niche, yes; it's largely down to the high cost of entry and the amount of things you have to keep track of.
The lore and video games are very much a slice of the normie zeitgeist now, even if only in the "video game/sci-fi nerd" space. Said "video game/sci-fi nerd" space is a not-tiny part of normie culture, and since Star Wars went to shit, a non-zero of them came to Warhammer.
There are a LOT of people who played a 40k video game before (and have no models or desire for models), and there are a LOT of sloptuber consumers that put on HH audiobooks and pretend to be big fans of the games and setting despite never actually playing it. 40k is an "I'm a big fan, but I've never played it" thing for normies.

It is a serviceable series for 13yo and younger readers. It tried to grow and get more serious with the original audience but it failed since Rowling can't write a consistent world so plot holes were everywhere. When you were 10yo you didn't care. When you were 18yo they were baffling at best.

This is the most hilarious thing about big corpo medias. I wonder if the normie sphere has caught onto this pattern and mocks it.
>Wrath and Glory setting docs are actually a great take on not just the Imperium, but how it operates under duress, since it's on the darkside of the Rift.
How does it operate? I haven't read those yet. How does Wrath and Glory compare to previous 40k TTRPG books?
>>98433627
>there are a LOT of sloptuber consumers that put on HH audiobooks and pretend to be big fans of the games and setting despite never actually playing it. 40k is an "I'm a big fan, but I've never played it" thing for normies.
I mean I think I was like this until around 8th edition when I first got a job (got out of high school) to afford 40k. If I got models earlier it was probably from birthday/Xmas money gifts and even then I looked at models and paint and thought it was the next step from Legos. I was an autistic teen but at least I stayed out of trouble. But I still ended up here so maybe it never mattered.

Anyways that "I'm a big fan, but I've never played it" thing you're describing I think has already been covered maybe decades ago in the skateboarding community where normies came in and dressed like skaters but never did any skateboarding so they were called "posers." And "tourist" to me seems to be the nerd equivalent of "posers' but I think the word "tourist" fails unlike "poser" supposedly succeeded because I think poser carries a harder hitting insult "weight" than "tourist" does.
I think.

I know that this is arguably going to be me doing a "weeds.jpeg" but the arguing about asmongold being posted is more annoying than asmongold being posted, purely because the arguing is eating up more of the thread discussion.
The alternative discussion topic I'll suggest is: for a xenos model with a dead/dying terminator, what are the best/lowest effort models for this? I think terminid HQs are good shoe-ins because you can pose them around half-eaten limbs. Maybe some ork vehicles too. You could stick a bag of looted terminator armor pieces on one.

I read quite a bit of Warrior cats novels and I find it to be quite similar to Horus Heresy 30k/40k books because they both have lots of novels and both have some violence and conflict in them with factions fans side themselves too.

It makes me wonder what Warrior Cats got right that the Horus Heresy novels got wrong.
I think it applies applies to the Warhammer 40k Dawn of Fire books too. I'm not sure what the Horus Heresy book series equivalent is but for Warhammer 40k.

I had a big steampunk nerd phase and read the Leviathan trilogy, and Mortal Engines, and Larklight series. I enjoyed those books even if they were slop, but I struggled to get through the "Legend of Sigmar" book and struggled with the BL Celebration books and even the Gaunt's Ghosts novels.

I haven't read many novels in a long time, only the 40k novels interest me but I didn't make it very far in any of them. They just didn't hook me. Same goes for the rules. Maybe it is just the models for me. But I feel the reality is that I fried my attention span to not even be able to stay focused on Warhammer 40k rulebooks.

Maybe the secret was that the writers of cat novels actually cared about their cat novels more than the BL writers cared about their demigod primarch writings.
I mean at the end of the day they're doing a writing job for money, but cat fight novel writers probably cared more about the story quality than the money. Not that they didn't care about the money.

>How does it operate?
The first edition goes into good detail on all the local major players like the regional Space Marines, Forge World, SoB order, etc and what threats they face. The post-Riftening second edition goes into detail on how all these groups are coping with being stuck isolated and with diminishing supplies since they're cut off from the Imperium at wide. It's been awhile since I've read them so I'm a bit fuzzy on the details, but some that stuck out to me are
>the local Space Marine Chapter has seen drastically reduced numbers and forced to take on more of a Joint Force structure by embedding more directly with Guard Regiments rather than operating on their own
>they also only got minorly reinforced with Primaris and still rely predominately on Firstborn marines
>the local Admech has tried to withdraw itself from the rest of the Sector due to dwindling supplies and wanting to only arm and reinforce their own holdings, leading to much friction with other Imperium branches
>the SoBs conversely have seen a massive swell in support since people are turning to them for salvation in this time of darkness, giving the local Ecclesiarchy a dangerous amount of political sway
>also there's a shitton more psykers everywhere causing problems
As for
>How does Wrath and Glory compare to previous 40k TTRPG books?
Sadly I've only gotten to play WanG thus far, but it's a fun game. Certainly not perfect and I personally think it kinda falls apart above Tier 3 play (it's separated into Tiers 1-5 for gameplay, with only Custodes and Primaris being T5) but it's pretty good for a generalist 40K game that allows you to play as any faction. Especially with the Abundance of Apocrypha homebrew supplement that adds a shitton of new Archetypes for every race/faction and some abhumans and such, as well as factions the official content never got to yet like Votann.

If we're being totally unironic and not making a preface to make fun of SWs:
I'd suggest you just buy the space wolves combat patrol (400-500 points of models and is a prefabbed list for the half-baked practice games at a low cost), but the wulfen are such rancid models that I wouldn't wish them on my greatest foe. But assuming you're starting at a combat patrol level, you're probably gonna need somewhere in the ballpark of 20 dudes.
>>
>>98433809
I figured (and it'd fit my regiment aesthetic better), but wasn't 100% sure
The extra attack die on autocannons seemed tempting, and the idea of a Centaur RSV with 6 mortars in it firing from the back corner and running away from any threats was funny.
>>
first time really committing to the hobby, went with what a poster suggested and just built what I wanted- so I started with some imperial fist terminators.

is it usually so hard to get the transfer sheet logos onto pauldrons? nothing worked until I started using tamiya micro softener but it kind of ate away at my paint.

I would post models but they need basing still and I don't have any lightbox to shoot them in.

I've never actually done decals myself so I have no in-practice knowledge of it, but you need to have a varnish layer over the paint when you stick a decal on.
>>98433835
True enough. I don't know what the points would come up to, but I reckon you could have a 5-man of hellblasters in place of the wulfen and have an okay time.

Just looked at the price of this hobby and yikes. I have to build this stuff and paint it? Why do they even show like that if that's not what I'm buying? I'll just stick to total warhammer, thanks.
>>
>>98433829
You need to varnish the surface before applying any decals to protect it so what happened to you won't happen. Gloss varnishes are often recommended for they're sturdier, so you paint > varnish > put the decal on > softener > varnish (matt or however you want your finish to be) again to seal it down.

My man that's the whole point of the game. Playing at 1000pts is legit but you need to look at the bigger picture aka 2000pts of a proper army. I know jackshit about Tau but check if fielding everything in the box is a viable option. I grabbed two of the old GSC combat patrol and currently fielding a total of 110 models like a madman. If you want a 1K list using the Combat Patrol as a base, and if you can find the Farsight Cadre box for cheap locally (Under $250) here's a list for you
>Commander Farsight (70pt)
>Coldstar Commander (95pt)
>Breacher Team (90pt)
>Pathfinder Team (85pt)
>Crisis Battlesuit team (Build how you want, 90-125pts)
>Broadside Battlesuit(75pt)
>Riptide Battlesuit (190pts)
>Devilfish (75 pts)
That alone puts you close to 800 points. Grab a second Battlesuit team for the Coldstar to lead and then spend the remaining ~100 on something to fill the gap in your list (Stealth Suits maybe?) and bam, a 1K list.

More stores carrying warhammer models
More GW stores to get free models from
More people to play against (ymmv)
That's about the only genuine boon to the larger audience I can think of

>gateway drug for newfags
True
My most "normie" friend got it free with his GPU and has full sent on HH books (never owning them to read, always audiobooks) and bought ~500 USD of SMs he's set up into a 1k point Salamanders list.
He doesn't own a codex and doesn't pay for the app, so he doesn't know how to play. He asks chatGPT to give him the rules. I don't play with him.
I got in when I was like 10 (almost 30 now) from going to a hobby store with my brother and seeing the art and models while he was after model rockets or something.

>3rd party retailers with discounts
I also do, the point was that with more people buying WH, there's more people selling WH, meaning there's more retailers of all kinds, including 3rd parties with discounts/at-cost pricing.
>store to store
No, but it's the difference between driving 30 minutes to get a free dude or three vs driving an hour to the next large town to get a free dude or three. If there's more stores that's less driving because the stores will be more spread out.
>game gets more dumbed down yet complixified in the worst ways possible
Yes, that's what ymmv meant. Some people who come in fresh (or were already around) are actually interested in the "older" rulesets and playstyles and trying to have fun, and you're more likely to find them if there's more opportunities to play/interact with them. Yes you'll find newfags who refuse to do anything but MtG-tier shit, but the others also exist and it's easier to find them if there's more of them and more events to weed them out from the crowd.

>I use 3rd party retailers with discounts (and so should you)
I don't, but it makes me wonder:
Why does every LGS sell stuff at MSRP when they can use the 15% discount GW gives them to move more product? Buying a $250 battleforce is pants on head retarded, but selling it for $212.5 and suggesting the buyer use that $40 savings to buy paints or other models lets them move even more stuff. Otherwise people will look elsewhere for a better deal and they sell nothing at all.

>>98434094
>the prices are rising anyway
The price issue is on competition in games people are willing to play. If people en masse decided one day to play Bolt Action or Konflikt '47 instead of 40k, GW would then have to consider competitive pricing, but no matter how many people say "try other games" or play those other games with their 40k friends, it never sticks. This isn't an argument on stores selling 40k minis, it's an argument about GW not having ample competition in the mini wargame space (largely due to consumer laziness and "comfort brands").
>going there once a month
Yea, but making a drive that's 30 minutes is more doable and convenient than an hour. I can take 1.5-2 hours out of a Saturday no questions asked every month, I can't do that with 3-5 hours that a trip to the next city would be. Some of us have lives, responsibilities and families who have their own schedules we have to work around, removing friction on this means more chance to take advantage of it.
No, I don't want sympathy or anything, it's just a reason for this being a positive for some.
>at some point regardless
Goalpost moving, but I'll engage it
The chance of your "regardless" being sooner than later increases if they are introduced by a larger spread, as well as there being more old rules people as a whole due to the total population increasing.

Training isn't something you deposit into people like water into a jug.
Cadians and Kriegers and trained to be competent and then continually drilled on that competence, same with fire warriors.
Scions are trained to be exemplary, those that fail to meet that standard don't become scions.
Cadians and Kriegers that prove themselves exemplary are elevated to Kasrkin or combat engineers.

I think it's probably a contract thing. I'm wildly guessing really. Maybe they don't do the discount because they get a bigger margin? Would need to ask a store owner directly

>>98434167
The problem isn't the game, it's the miniatures. People play shit games all the time. If you look at video games, for instance, people play some of the most garbage, badly designed, purposefully exploitative and draining shit ever. But you know what sells? Graphics and story.
Nobody cares about WW2, that's still proper nerd shit. If you look at other miniature sellers, it's either historicals (again, normalfags always hated nerd shit); or utterly boring. It's actually depressing how barren the miniature landscape is.

I fully understand why GW has an effective monopoly when you look at other miniature sellers and they are not even trying. And that's not even mentioning the "we're selling warhammer proxies for people who just don't want to buy GW shit" which are also extremely shit and derivative.

My personal reason for disliking much of his part of the political spectrum, but streamers and Twitter journalists like him specifically, is they hardly make anything. They'll bitch about politics on stream for donations but when's the last time they made anything? Any actual product? Even indie projects they try often fizzle out or become never released scams that still take donations. There are many successful indie projects out there but they take talent, commitment and skill those guys lack.

On the other sci-fi minis games, people don't play SW Legion either despite being the biggest IP probably ever, but I guess that's down to Disney nuking SW's popularity instead. People never played the older SW tabletop games either, it was always 40k (or historical games if you were an old man) IME. 40k is DnD for wargaming unfortunately, only hipsters, contrarians and enthusiasts even consider the other options.
>how the fuck is that a goalpost move?
I said that increasing the amount of newfags would increase the amount of people wanting to play older rulesets by simply having more of them and more interactions in all relevant ways; you then moved to "they'd get into the old rules regardless" which is a goalpost move ignoring the fact that a non-zero of "good" fans will not have been made aware without the growth of the game as a whole. Yes it's a trope, but entirely discrediting the "not like the others" latecomers by making an assumption of how and when they'd get into the game is just side-stepping my original claim on that front.
I'm not looking to start an argument, just how it seemed to me reading it.
