I just realized all of the xenos factions all have the same theme in that they’re not a threat to the Imperium right now, but they may become one in the future.
>The Necrons are too asleep and dormant to be a serious threat currently, but if they wake up, they will be
>The Tyranids are too scattered and small in their hive fleets to be a threat to the Imperium now, but if they’re allowed to eat and coalesce, they will be
>The Orks are too divided and disunited to pose a threat at this time, but if Armageddon falls and they’re able to be unified under a single Ork warlord, they would be
>The Tau are too small to pose a threat at this time, but if they’re allowed to continue technologically advancing and expanding at the rate they are, they eventually will

The only faction that currently, right now is actually a major current threat is Chaos, and that’s because they achieved their win condition of taking Cadia.

Ngl I have no clue how the fuck they're gonna unfuck eldar lore without a shitton of retcons and a massive string of Ws that would make Matt Ward jealous.

Shit, eldar always losing in lore was a meme back in 4E.
>>

Elves back then didn't have autism, so they focused on living in their fully automated luxury space communism with magic and reincarnation society rather than hunting down and destroying some washed up soulless robots
>>
>>98434321
Nigga said infini-gooning instead of living a balanced lifestyle and actually eradicating the only existing threat at that time is somehow not autistic
>>
>>98434319
They're not going to fix Eldar lore. Not unless they do a 40k end times and allow the Eldar to go out in a blaze of glory. Which they probably wouldn't do even in that case.

So they were lazy fucks?
You'd think 65 million years they'd done something more amazing then just coom and complain about having nothing to do.

GW doesn’t actually force authors to write outside of a select few shill campaigns the authors pick

>>

The Necrons were no threat at all to the pre-fall Eldar.

Also, the gooning only started in like M18-M20, and not all of the empire at that. On some worlds pleasure cults appeared only a few decades before the fall.

Wars of extermination are too boring. We need mass-rape wars instead. That's a proper horror setting. Imagine being chased by horny humans trying to fuck you to the point killing one will just have their zombie corpse continue. There should be plotlines where the humans have hijacked the xenos race afterlife that way xenos who try suicide to escape human penis just find themselves raped in the afterlife instead.

DaoT humans have been written about and wanked into the stratosphere but we have minimal knowledge of the 'good shit' eldar had pre-fall resulting in a weird lore conflict where two super xenophobic races lay claim to dominance of the galaxy during the same time period and you have to kind of make your own judgements on how that actually worked.

The most reasonable assumption imo is that eldar were descending into pleasure cults during that time and didn't give a fuck what happened outside their borders. Still doesn't mesh with the whole DaoT humans being infinity billion times more OP but at least that solves one faction. You can say the eldar ruled only their local region since most of the eldar homeworlds were around the eye of terror and there's no evidence of major eldar planets outside the region since uhh, they don't have any other than exodite worlds. That's probably the best excuse but you're still left with why maiden worlds are all over the galaxy other than eldar incompetence and half finished projects which there isn't any evidence to support.
>>
>>98434272
I remember Tyranids being presented as the likely doom of the Imperium and possibly the entire galaxy. Their invasions would get defeated but not before several star systems were stripped down to bare rock, you can't just recolonize that. Leviathan switching strategies by attacking from below the galactic plane to appear pretty much anywhere was also described as something that would mostl likely break the Imperium's defences.
>>
>>98434444
>Orks are still around and still a problem.
Orks are nowhere near krork level. Imagine btfoing your enemy so hard they devolve back into apes.
>They had 65 millions years to find them all and still didn't do that.
We know they explicitly did hunt them down. There are about 200 billion stars in the milky way and probably trillions of planets. It's not exactly easy to find EVERY SINGLE NECRON EVER especially when they're doing loony toons shit with reality to hide their tomb worlds, and have no souls so can't even be targeted by psychic means.

Besides it's not like GW could have them wipe out necrons or orks. They wouldn't be tabletop factions otherwise...

The problem is that the Imperium only has 4 planets that matter, Cadia, Armageddon, Mars, and Terra. Cadia already fell, and Armageddon only matters because it’s the first line of defense for Terra and Mars. And Terra and Mars only matter because the Golden Throne and Void Dragon are there.

The irony is that despite being the largest of all the factions, you only need to really conquer one world to destroy the Imperium entirely. It’s the faction with the biggest weak point. Obviously this is easier said than done since the Imperium keeps 20% of its entire galaxy’s military around Terra but the point stands that nobody else is so reliant on one world.

It still seems like the first experiment you'd do if you're the Imperium
Send a single guy back in time to a morning before Spazz Maticus the BBEG wakes up to blow him to bits before Spazz is able to siege the imperial stronghold on Whothefuckcares, preventing the fall of Whothefuckcares and saving the Whyarewehere system in the process.
Points vary of course, but the principle is what I'm trying to convey. Time travel needs a billion caveats to not be an insta-win in any setting, and then why even include it if you can't use it?

Am I being overly autistic about not wanting to use Krieg heavy squads or artillery in an army with Cadian or Catachan infantry and vice versa? I know compfags do whatever the rules allow and there's no rules about "picking a lane," it just feels wrong to have random Krieg heavy flamers surrounded by Catachans backed up in the rear by Cadian heavy arty. It hurts the whole "unique regiments" thing.
It feels like running Blood Angels alongside Ultramarines to me.

GW was planning to soft squat Steel Legion with the newest Armageddon lore. They only relented due to the shitting and pissing that guardfags did over this (pic related) paragraph that was put out after the original Return to Armageddon video.
Those Krieg models in particular were painted as a tutorial on the Warhammer YT channel titled "Painting Death Korps in Steel Legion Colours." The comments are more guardfags mocking the decision before GW walked it back.

you are seething then, taking this personally for whatever reason, in a completely unrelated topic

Necrons lost, Eldar accepted their surrender and left them be, because they are not hellbent on genocide. No point in bullying a defeated enemy. Eldar could finish them off at any point, they didn't because they are not inherently evil. They knew where all functionally defenseless Necrons are, but since they were not a threat anymore, there was no point in murdering them in their sleep.
Exactly this same like Interex did with Megarachnid
>>
>>98434675
No, anon said that the enemies of the imperium were weak and needed to be so because the alternative was trying to justify how the imperium wasn't dead.

I countered by pointing out that prior to 8th the imperium were in dire straits which is a radically different tone from the present day and also wasn't an issue at the time.

I could also add that regardless of how close the Eldar get to their "wincon" it has 0 impact on the imperium so fucking them out of their potential win is really stupid because even if they got their w they'd still not have the forces, industrial base, ambition, and population to seize control of the galaxy so having them be ascendant doesn't mean you have to justify why the imperium isn't dead yet.

Also people wanting the protagonists to have nothing challenge them have garbage taste and make me think of isekai power fantasy slop.

Dawn of War 2 Retribution campaign
Ronahn (Illic Nightspear copy) is brother of Taldeer (from Winter Assault and Dark Crusade). She dies in Dark Crusade and Kyras (Chapter Master of Blood Ravens) keeps her stone as a trophy. Her brother retrieves her spirit stone in Retribution. In DoW3 they are piloting WraithKnight

Never played fourth edition but the rules look fun and I hear it's the best, however I've heard that necrons are annoyingly strong. Would it be considered unsporting to try and get friends into making fourth edition compatible armies just so I can play necrons? If not I suppose I can make an eleventh edition list that only uses old units. I hear flayed ones are quite strong this edition.

What do the chaos gods really want their adherents to be doing in their name? I am curious. Like is Khorne truly about COMPLETE wanton destruction and killing or is it more sort of?

Example, what would Khorne find more based if an adherent did it. Fought 1v10 against worthy warriors in melee combat and won? OR Head crush 10 defenseless orphans in a hive city or something. Next, Khorne finds spell casters apparently disgusting. If someone warp fireballed a building of children in Khornes name is that based or not based?

Second, Nurgle, I have no idea what the fuck Nurgle wants his followers to be doing. Like yeah spread disease and what not but that seems about it.

Slaanesh, I have little idea as to what pisses it off. I know it is more about dragging shit out to get every ounce of pleasure or satisfaction so obviously shit like torture is in. But does it necessarily hate if you were to kill something quickly in its name?

Tzeentch seems like you could do anything in its name as long as you tricked someone into doing it. So instead of you killing a orphanage full of children in a hive city, you tricked someone else into doing it.

the gods are schizophrenic amalgams of concepts and emotions and thoughts, they are not discreet personalities, they only appear to have one in the same way you can build an average phenotype of a nation by superimposing a large number of people's faces, they don't follow strict rules, they only reward certain things sometimes and cults to these incomprensibile entities just pop up and start preaching their own tenets that may or may not actually produce effects because the cults also end up projecting an idea of what the god is and so the god is also that additional schizophrenic aspect sometimes, maybe, and they can and do appear to have contradictory goals or nonsensical means to their alleged goals

the best way to understand what a god is to understand what it is NOT:
khorne and slaanesh are not enemies by happenstance, they are fundamental opposites; khorne is violence for the sake of violence, the point is the act, not yourself, not the result, khorne at its extreme is complete ego death and just physicality. by contrast slaanesh is not about the act, because any act can be slaaneshi, once brought to its obsessive extreme, and that's what drives slaanesh, the spiral into obsession and that unreachable perfection, the inflation of your own ego to new heights, at the end of the day slaanesh is exclusively about yourself and your experience and your mentality

nurgle and tzeentch are also each other's opposites; tzeentch is about change, the desire to change, the willpower to change, and the planning to bring change, it's about the solution, the shortcut, the trick, the hope that you can be the master of your own fate. meanwhile nurgle is about stagnation, the embracing of it, the acceptance of the status quo, the wallowing in your place in the universe, in nurgle you accept fatalism, you revel in it, you spread it, you solidify it, you gaslight yourself that it's the true way, the most benevolent and fruitful way, everything else is childish tantrums

NTA but power sword and pistol is better than rifles. I would only take rifles on a bodyguard unit with Kharseth. Voidscarred are only good in a 10 man brick with Yriel, and only in the Eldritch raiders detachment.

If you are taking corsairs by themselves, they are decent as chaff/action monkeys but not amazing. They all have the grenade keyword and the skyreavers are pretty mobile which helps.

They are. But the caveat is if you attrit them down to 1/4 of their starting model count they immediately fuck off and you win. Some players would try to get around this by hiding a squad of warriors or scarab swarms behind cover all game. What most people remember is that Necrons had a special Gauss rule for their weapons that did 2 things - If you rolled a 6 to wound, it was an automatic wound even if the target toughness would normally not allow a Str-4 weapon to wound it. When attacking a vehicle, if you rolled a 6 to 'wound' in the common phrasing, back then it was called armour penetration, it was an automatic roll on the glancing hit table regardless of armor value. This is significant because normally a common Str-4 weapon doesn't have a chance to harm anything other than a light-armored vehicle with the lowest possible AV value of 10, but now here comes your basic-bitch squad of Necron Warriors that can spam down a Land Raider or Leman Russ from the front and all you can do about it is cope and seethe. Taking vehicles against Necrons was just giving them free points. So you may think "Ok, I'll just take all infantry" - "lol" said the Nightbringer, "lmao".

Old lore Khorne had a "Warrior's honour" thing, new lore Khorne doesn't really care, but fighting enemies that fight back is still better.
Old lore khorne could have sorcerers, where using magic to enhance your fighting is ok (basically not much worse than using a magic sword), but using magic to avoid fighting is not ok (e.g. casting fireball when you could be stabbing). New lore Khorne has a full prohibition against sorcerers (but not magic weapons or demons or blood rituals).
The other posters have it right for new lore, the chaos gods can't avoid embodying their core aspects because they ARE those aspects, there's no ego to Will otherwise.

That wording means that you consider Ghaz+Mak as if they had started unattached for the purposes of determining starting strength (and therefore, the battle-shock threshold). You don't actually give them back any HP or resurrect either.

i.e. if the boyz get blasted then you don't have to roll battleshock for solo Ghaz+Mak, unless Ghaz/Mak are also at or below half of their solo starting HP

so coming from fantasy, are there any armies which can field enough powerful wizards hucking lightning bolts and fireballs to actually make a decent magic themed army? who can pull this off?

bonus points for humble guy in robes wizards and not something thats just a big monster like tyranids

i noticed theres no magic phase, and i havent seen any spell lores or casting rolls or wizard levels. but i know psykers are supposed to be like 40ks wizards, so whats the deal here? or is it just really downplayed in this game?

>so coming from fantasy, are there any armies which can field enough powerful wizards hucking lightning bolts and fireballs to actually make a decent magic themed army? who can pull this off?
Unfortunately no, not anymore. They dumpstered the Psychic Phase and psychic powers as a whole, so the wizard thing is pretty much dead forever in 40k. Also no factions really fit that vibe. Closest you can get is Primaris Psykers for IMperial Guard, I guess, but you can't spam them in your army, they aren't very good either, and again, no psychic powers anymore

I was such a disappointment when it turned out it wasn't knight sized
>>
>>98435338
I was hoping this thing would've been a knight sized bug, but nah, it's just slightly bigger hive tyrant is all.
Also in general I think the fluff for the Emissary is just shit.
>here's this obvious hive tyrant esque leader monster for your nids
>actually no, it's a fucking assassin bug that fucking contorts itself and breaks the laws of physics to fit into places it has no business being in
>oh btw, it's also psychic and it is also independent like the Swarm Lord too
Like just why? This should've just been a hive tyrant +.
The whole assassin bug thing makes even less fucking sense is pointless because the fucking Lictor and Deathleaper exists, so why does it need to be an assassin too?
Not like the psychic powers matter either because literally made a psychic lictor species as well in the very same update.
It's like those neurogants which are also pointless whose entire fluff gimmick is that
>"neurogants will attack anything that is attacking the synapse creature near them"
Even though this is already behaviour that ALL "species" of gant exhibit as an instinctual response. It's even mentioned in the codex iirc.

Rant aside, my point is that Emissary/Assimilator should've just been an actually knight sized bugs whose only purpose is to assume a leader role, like hive tyrants do.
That's all they needed to do, but they just tacked on all this random shit.

The Eldar and Dark Eldar lack the ambition to even be a threat. The Tau, for how small they are, at least are constantly advancing and expanding and have the ambition to take over the galaxy. The Eldar and Dark Eldar literally just want to continue existing in their own little enclaves, same as the Votann. Even when they wipe a planet clean of life they don’t really expand like the other factions.
>>
>>98435427
not making the norns the new top tier of leader beasts means not undermining the role of the hive tyrants

while making them vanguard beasts means little timmy will buy it together with the other vanguard beasts released during that wave, which were quite the number and the most pricey
>>
>>98435440
>Even when they wipe a planet clean of life they don’t really expand like the other factions.
Yeah, about right.
Eldar are basically doing that is like you pulling out a can of bug spray and using it on a wasps nest that wasps started to build on your porch.
You don't really want to do it, since you know they are just insects, animals doing what they are genetically programmed to do.
But you aren't really opposed to just scorching them, since you are also aware that it is better to get rid of the problem now early before it becomes a big problem. But at the same time you aren't gonna go around hunting for wasp nests to exterminate them.
>>

>>98435458
I don't care that the Emissary undermine hive tyrants because they really don't.
They can easily just play the same card as they have done with the fucking Swarmlord. Aka it's a very specific speciality bug that only gets made in certain conditions by the hivefleet and making it will take quite a lot of resources to do.

They could've just done the same with the Emissary/Assimilator, they are leader beasts who only show up when the situation calls for it and rest of the time the hive tyrants are enough.
Hell, they could've even made it so that Emissaries really ARE just tyranids that were originally hive tyrants as embryos but then due to certain hivemind stimuli or whatever the hive tyrant embryo further evolves into an Emissary/Assimilator.
And the only reason why they are only showing up now is because tyranids haven't previously met enough resistance to warrant creating an Emissary to overtake a battlefield.

Chaos gods aren't individuals with particular goals or the capacity for true reasoning, they're self perpetuating psychic hurricanes embodying agglomerated ideas.
The blood/skulls/violence hurricane doesn't have any tier list of favoured deeds or make any assessment of the relative quality of devotional acts, it just has tendencies. Combat against the worthy in Khorne's name is good. Crushed orphans in Khorne's name are good. Sometimes, while acting in devotion to the wind that is Khorne, you get caught in an honour draft and will be favoured more for that, sometimes you get caught in a skull draft and all that matters is the head count. Sometimes the wind doesn't even care about the devotional intention. Sorcery inherently runs against the direction of the spiral of the whirlwind that mortals call Khorne, so it is bad.
There is no logical assessment. Each is a force of paranormal nature. Worship is contributing more of a physically manifested idea into the storm. Favour is the storm imbuing you with physical manifestations of the idea.

Unpopular opinion but I think the Kroot are really creative for an alien race. They're mainly humanoids but all the different forms from dog to roided angry gorilla ape, T-rex, winged kroot is really cool. I really like their fire warrior cyclop-like helmets. I almost wish we didn't know what the face of a tau looked like and had some mystery there. But the helmets are truly sick, making sleek elite solider armour for aliens is hard not many sci-fi IPs pull it off but the Tau nail it.

Can some explain this pic to me. I thought space marine squads were 5 men. But this implies each squad has 10 men. Or is 10 man the codex standard and then it can be broken off into two 5 man squads for game balancing reasons.

It’s just the acrylic suspension that the paint pigments are added to. You can use it to make your own paints, but more likely you’re going to use it to thin down already mixed paints. Unlike thinning with water, combining paint with more medium will slow down the drying time and give the pigments more time to settle into a tight consistent film over the surface you put it on. If you’re having problems with visible brush strokes or uneven drying you can thin your paints with medium.

There could a a clarity of purpose type deal, like with Abaddon in the >HH Siege of Terra books. As he's fighting for his life with no hope of escape, he realizes in the end he doesn't care about the Imperium, or Horus' ambitions, or even the Legion, all he ever wants is to keep fighting and measuring himself against others. Someone falling to Khorne could do something like that, have a very zenlike sense of "Yes, all I want in life is to fight enemies and get stronger". After all Khorne is a very straightforward and almost magnanimous God, all he wants is tribute via skulls earned in combat, preferably hand to hand, and in return he gives you gifts so that you can give him nicer skulls.

I like some painting hobby channels.
The youtube channels about miniature painting that only use as much as time is needed and avoid general Youtuber clickbait shenanigans for ad revenue are becoming very rare these days.
Most of them are sponsored in some way by a hobby paint company. Sonic Sledgehammer is pretty good. Even when sponsorship from ArmyPainter is obvious, he handles it well.
Dr. Faust I don't think is sponsored by anybody, and is pretty good for painting tutorials. His layering vs glazing tutorial still blows me away.

What is a "grifter" in social media slang among the Warhammer 40k social media spaces? Is it exclusive to anything deemed right wing?
How to not be a grifter as I ummm well...
I want to make miniature painting tip tutorials. But I won't voice over them and wear gloves to hide my eczema hands and limp pale wrists. Won't even play music.
At most there will be on screen subtitles edited in explaining tricks and I want the vids to mostly be less than 5 minutes long.

Fair enough. Is the bar for what makes a good miniature painting channel very low though?

I don't have a good voice. I don't have good narration. I have gotten a few voice cracks even over the age of 25. Life's been bad lately so if I did have a good personality, it has been corroded.

I'm surprised Warhammer 40k analogies haven't been repeated made yet to the point where they get meme'd to death from all sides.
The first sentence sounds a bit like Harry Potter analogies meme.
The 'fictional character agrees with me' meme is mocked. Saw a number of pics.
We've already had Avengers analogies being mocked and I think Star Wars got it too. I'm sure it happened with Game of Thrones and Lord of The Rings as well, but that orcposting meme probably doesn't count as it was more mockery than meant to be taken seriously I think.
But that was mostly left leaning so by what you said being a grifter isn't exclusive to right wing.
This means that if there is a Warhammer 40k youtuber who puts a 'woke' spin on his takes would technically count as a grifter too.
I'm assuming you aren't a false flag /pol/er acting like a bad lefter.

>>98436752
I wonder if I should make my channel an "anti-Warhammer 40k loretubing channel" with deliberate unprofessionalism like eating chips while narrating wikis to the point where it becomes endearing. Probably already done.
I think inside jokes run their course too quickly even in miniature painting channels. I could try absurdity while being a helpful painter. But I need to learn how to be funny first. Might be a good research thing while I pass the time while job hunting for a better one.
>>98436762
Is it really that bad to be associated with /tg/? Neckbeardia did harm /tg/'s fun making threads as anons thought they're Neckbeardia content farming so /tg/ shot itself into not being fun anymore so normies can't profit off it.
I'm talking more about bad phases I went through. Never been 100% on board with pre-porn ban tumblr so hopefully that explains my concerns. And I was still in the phase in my early 20s it was more so mocking conduct and being bewildered by seeing validations of so many stereotypes.

First one is a humanoid shapeshifter, who makes guns from his bodyt and change his body plan. Great thats fine but he does look like he's based off of a Ben10 alien but concept could work with tweaks/
The centaurs with the man and longears just look like some WoW aesthetic to me. Same as the two legs, four arms and two torso designs, just feels childish and uninspired in execution.
>2nd down, 3rd down 4th down on the left andthird down on the right
All these designs have an unbalanced bodyplan. It to looks like they can't hold their own weight and would be fighting their own bodies just to move, the rib tusks would easily impale his own legs, elephant and seal tusks come from the mouth not the torso so it just looks bad.
Bottom right as an insectoid centaur is interesting, with some tweaks could work since insects do have six limbs, making them gaint with guns is peak 40k.
I also don't mind the four armed alien in an alien space suit, second down on the right. That could be cool the egg helmet reminds me of the Sontarans which isn't a terrible aesthetic.

Just compare to the random unamed xenos from pic related, all these are peak 40k aesthetic. 40k needs to be over the top but in an in universe beleviable way

Alfabusa chose a good time to stop his Warhammer 40k show.
If it is true that GW did go after and cease and desist fan animators. Did GW really do that and why?
And I read somewhere that Warhammer Plus may have been intended for GW to hire fan animators to pump out animations and allow themselves to make money, but didn't know about the reality of fan animators and their animations and so they quietly changed directions.
Probably because of monetary reasons related to contracts that they just had to keep Warhammer plus going.

I would like it to apply to the more powerful models rather than universally, but overall I think it is a right train of thought. A tax for just taking 3x defilers with their busted data sheet is rightly, a tax for taking 3x Invictor warsuits is banditry.
>>
>>98436900
Operation Imperator is a pure narrative book, it has a fold out map and everything. It’s so you can paint your guys in line with the new war on Armageddon and know where their battles take place. Missions and how to set up a game are tied to the decks in 11th so far.

Then defilers should be more expensive, full stop.

Any unit that has a 20% tax on multiple units is either robbing you of points, or that unit isn't expensive enough baseline. A basilisk at 115 and then any others at 135 is highway robbery.
>>
>>98436930
I would stick to new recruit or other digital services. Physical data sheets are for casual games where you don’t care about whether your army has the latest balance update or not.

Not the most knowledgeable of how tactics of 10th/ going on 11th work but watch some battle reports weekly and keep an eye on tourney lists to see what is being played/winning.

Of course, more ork boyz. Maybe some Pain-boyz/boy for your Ork boyz to give that Feel no Pain, and also some Ork kommandos for taking objectives. Theirs that named Grot-herder Hero that could work if you make a big enough blog of Gretchin. Ghazghull Thraka also is great with a big unit of boyz or Meganobz.

Other than that you have a list close to what competitive Ork players use, but with far less Ork boyz. Your main objective will be how you choose what heroes to lead what units and in what transports. And maybe try to see if a different detachment could work better for what you have since you really dont have alot of models that benefit Dread Mob, from what i see.

Who are these guys
I was looking for shit to buy and found a GW distributor?
Can I pretend to be a small business and order in bulk and then sell the extras?

I mean yeah, you accurately described those designs and then posted some other designs but I was hoping for an actual aesthetic analysis of what makes these guys 40K and those guys not. Especially since a lot of people like to levy the same complaint at tau without really describing what they mean. Is it the weird bodyplans? Are they not dirty enough? What "it" factor are they missing? Because personally I feel like the four armed not-Fimir in the bottom right would look perfectly at home in that spread you posted. The rest I sort of agree with on various levels, though I could see the four-armed Moltar ripoffs also making an appearance in some obscure Deathwatch blurb about a mysterious unknown xenos force

Says what it does on the tin, they're a distributor - The companies that own and run the actual warehouses where stock is kept and shipped out to stores/clients. It depends on the distributor but you can try it and see if they accept you but usually you need to supply verifiable proof that you own a business, there will at least be a zoom/phone call conversation. It's not illegal (do not quote me on this I don't know every state's licensing or tax policies) but most distributors aren't going to be interested in selling to individuals unless you're buying bulk. There would likely be a minimum order you need to fulfill. So, if you are a whale buying entire army lists every month you could be good to go, if you only want a kit now and then it's just not worth their time because you're not their kind of customer.

That's an easy thing to ask but a hard one to answer. I'm not a designer I can only goo with my gut feelings.
They just don't look right. They aren't inspired by fantasy ideas and tropes since 40k isnt real sci-fi but space fantasy. Space orks work, space elves, dwarves, humans, Admech are space vampire counts with undead being cyborgs that might be alive. These creatures have no design based on irl fantasy beasts or folklore, they're just designed to be sterile 'alien', Kroot are the noble savage aliens, tau the foreign people but aren't a joke in a fight. Those designs are just a nothing

Yeah I know, that's why I'm trying to muddle it out for myself. Like I said I by and large agree with you, I'm just trying to logic out WHY I agree with you. Some certainly look too clean, like the ornate bugmen near the bottom. The cat centaur at top right feels like something out of oddworld rather than 40K. Pic related is cool with its weird second torso sprouting out of the "neck" of the first, but it feels more like something you'd see on the cover of a 1950s space opera than in 40K. And a lot of the rest feel less like something you could extrapolate a whole army out of and more like one-off enemy types from a B-grade scifi FPS if that makes sense.

Hell, even the not-Fimir I like so much I don't think has the makings of a whole faction without some serious workshopping. It feels more like a one-off character model for Necromunda or something, or at best a small squad of tau auxiliaries/DEldar xeno mercs

They're magic the gathering players who pivoted their podcasting hobby towards 40k to find an audience. They just don't really know what they're talking about most of the time due to limited knowledge and experience. Terrible taste in aesthetics is forgivable, but hearing guests give up arguing with their braindead hot takes about rule changes after 15 minutes of a 2 hour pod is sad.

"Ork shoota" is a very fucking wide category of weapons anon. It can vary from ork to ork from a simple chemically propelled slug thrower to an actual railgun.
Also, the marine armor is as durable as the plot needs it to be.

How true is this?
>>
>>98436844
>If it is true that GW did go after and cease and desist fan animators. Did GW really do that and why?
They did.
>Why?
Because they were in direct competition to GW's own WH+ streaming service.
GW's paid service wouldn't be able to compete with people who make shit for free. It's the reason why GW first poached all of the youtube channels who were making any sort of content.
It wasn't because GW wanted to hire fans out of the goodness of its heart, no it was purely done to buy them out and then bind them with a contract that will prevent them from being competition in the future.
Their contracts 100% have a non-compete agreements written into them.
Alfa himself didn't get any cease and desist, but he decided to stop while he is ahead before GW comes knocking. And it made sense too because he was the biggest 40k animation channel at the time, but he also had become a father shortly before GW did the community guideline update where they threathened cease and desist action.
Obviously, Alfa doesn't want to risk his own livelyhood or being dragged into legal bullshit when he has a child he needs to raise and provide for.

Also lot of the cease and desist thing exists as a deterrent to scare away any new potential animators, to prevent any future competition.
Also remember, GW is at this point a multi-billion dollar corporation with a yearly revenue of 200 million british pounds.
If GW takes you into court, you will lose for the simple reason that you are a plebian citizen and have less money and they will drag out the court procedings until you're penniless and in poverty.

Would it be an overkill to bring a Deamon Prince to a 250pts game? My LGS wants to start an escalation league and to my surprise there are no additional listbuilding restrictions. I have a Daemon Prince model that I had no chance to use yet so I thought about making it my General and keep it for the whole span of the league until we all reach 2000pts.

The fun thing is that GW actually puts the preorders up 5 minutes before you can buy, so you can add it to your cart on their website.

Some 3rd party sites also 'lock' your cart for 10 minutes once you've added the stock so it doesn't get raped like it does on shitholes like ebay.

Also LGSs which don't have a section showing the warhammer products they carry/don't do delivery usually end up with Relics like Indomitus or Kill Team Hivestorm boxes left over years later simply because it's too much of a pain for scalpers to go through every train and magic card and funkopop store to find the ones which also have a warhammer section they never advertise.

this is what discontinued looks like. GW don't keep much stock of their range because warehouse and distribution costs are so high (higher than manufacturing). the whole business relies on selling >60% of every print run to trade partners before release, their stores are secondary.
