Empire and more Empire. Era appropriate civil war starter box, you can split it with a friend into two Battle March forces or use the entire thing as one army, like the Heresy starters

It legitimately baffles me. Not that paypigs exist, but that paypigs can exist that are so deranged, depraved, and deprived of reason or self-control that they will willingly pay ebay scalper-tier markups directly to GW for ancient models that they could have gotten at any point in the last 20 years for a couple of bucks from a recaster - yes, even in metal - and in most cases printed themselves from scans practically for free at any point in the last 2-3 years.

Fucksake I saw a guy locally spending so much on this shit during a previous MTO that he could have started up his own little recasting foundry for half as much. It's lunacy.

"Rats in paradise
A loose corner piece illustration, sometimes there was a story behind some of these images hinted at by the inclusion of the other visual elements, I cant remember the specifics here but I’m fairly sure it was influenced by the marginalia on medieval manuscripts and books, some of which were rather subversive.
I noticed that some of these stylistic border frames have blank escutcheons and others are plain, I seem to remember these to deliberately show some page numbers as part of the design when we planned the book layout, though without looking at it now I cant remember whether this was a consistent feature throughout.

Interesting topic came up the other day while playing 8th edition. When playing regular non competitive games (narrative or just for fun) do you tend to use named characters because you enjoy the official lore or do you create your dude and give it a backstory? A new guy turned up with his bretonnian army and the dude had researched his family's coat of arms and used the same colors and crest/blazon on his general. It was fucking kino

>>
>>98437721
My dudes are always my dudes. The very few times I've used a special character I've rewritten them to fit my army's backstory and just used the rules. I like official named characters as part of the world and background lore, but not on the tabletop itself.

Has anyone else noticed that the new Chaos Warrior kits don't have any bare head options (except for the sorcerer lord on the dragon).
They're all helmeted, unlike the SoC and AoS kits.
>>
>>98438038

That's what train originally meant though, the raily choochoo kind came later. WFRP often uses a slightly older registry of English because it fits the warhammer empire better, i don't care if illiterate/esl morons like you get filtered by it.
>>

I can explain the existence of female Knights of the Realm in Bretonnia, using my own experiences as a basis for the following example.
>I have three children, all girls.
>The first born out of wedlock; she is provided for from my estate (child support), but does not bear my name, she is of her mother's father's house.
>The second is true born to my wife and I, she bears my name and lives under my care. She is a child of unusual talents and we expect a call from the Fey Enchantress or her maidens before she reaches age (autistic).
>The third is but a babe, also true born, and will be the last of my children.
The question then rises of who stands to inherit my lands?
>My younger brother perhaps? But he only has one child, also a girl born out of wedlock. That only delays the issue.
>My eldest is of my blood, but not of my name, furthermore I shall not allow her mother to lay claim to my estate.
>My second will no doubt do great things, but they will be her own, and she will have no need of my name, she will be above the concerns of mortals.
>The last of my daughters then. But why should she marry into another family and have them take my estate, ending my line in the process.
My youngest therefore shall takes the Knight's vow and inherits my lands, her children will take my name and any husband she has will take my name, as his wife will be not Lady but Lord.

>>
>>98437801
Yes, each of the major cities is the capital of its local province. And the collective of provinces in each region make up the domain of each of the dragon children.
>>
>>98438478
It was harder/more socially condemned to do this in the medieval period than it is now. Marriages were far more permanent and everybody knows stories like Henry VIII because they were extremely rare, controversial, and significant.
>>
Is there a book in the megas I should look for if Im wanting more information on the Border Princes and the Badlands?
>>
>>98438715
It was really only more condemned amoung the nobility. There is significant evidence of medieval couples breaking up and living separately.

Even among the nobility it was not uncommon to see aside a wife and take up a mistress while not officially remarrying. Quite a few bastards took a place in lines of succession. William the conquerer was William the Bastard.
>>
>>98438478
I don't want a new wife, why would I stain mine and her honour? I already have one bastard prior to marriage, I don't want that reputation to worsen.

>>
>>98438622
Why are there no gates or passes on the eastern side of Ulthuan?
>>
>>98438840
because dark elves tend to have men at the helm of ships so they are less likely to get lost or meander.
>>
>>98438776
>I have one bastard, I do not want more. Before long I'll be known as Sire of Bastards or something
You want more than one backup son that's competent and smart. Your legitimate son is a drooling retard who will just be a figurehead for whichever one of your brothers offs the rest.
>>
>>98438776
>I don't want a new wife
yes, you do, for a heir
your reputation would be even worse if you have no heirs at all or try to parade a daughter like a son
>>
>>98438852
But aren't there also zero passes through the mountains on the eastern side as well?
So if you wanted to go from the White Tower in Saphery to Tor Yvresse, you would need to go all the way to Lothern and go northeast to get to there
>>
>>98438853
I have no sons. That's the point of the explanation.

>>98438862
In real life medieval history, probably yeah. But in Bretonnia it's all romanticised (compared to history and fiction, not real life) and it's perfectly okay to simply love your wife and be happy with her, like I am. Bretonnians lords dote on their wives and are generally decent people.
Again, not real life, it's just an explanation for the existence of female KotR.
>>
>>98438884
There are passes in the east but the only things coming from that direction are big stupid humans who don't pose a real threat to the center of Ulthuan. The west is constantly under attack from the Delfs (who are too stupid/lazy to sail around to the other side) so they put up the gates to protect themselves from the Bitch King and his incest mother.
>>
>>98438901
Oh, I forgot, it's not just humans, but one time there were goblins. But they didn't make it very far after they pissed off Eltharion.

None are really mentioned either in BL books or WFRP sources, and if they are mentioned, it's generally a very perilous route that would only be taken in desperation, like the Chasm of Sorrows, which isn't really used for trade or military traffic due to it's small width

NTA but I think some legacy faction will return. I don't think ogres will return until all the old kits are gone from their range, so years still. I think the first legacy faction that will return will be either Dark Elves or Vampire Counts as they have all their older kits free
>>
>>98439960
I'm convinced they'll squat the old kits and sculpts as soon as they have established enough new products for the respective ranges, and in terms of orcs&gobs I'm sure they'll unceremoniously discard the night goblins and make up an excuse as to why they aren't at the forefront in this time period, and focus on normal goblins and/or hobgoblins.

No. +1D3 M is not how they march, they march by casting the reserve move spell.

Their healing isn't done on 9+ (leadership are not X+ they're X or less) and in the case of arise it's 8 or less for the high priest or 7 or less for the regular priest.

There are things to point out regarding undead in general but you don't even understand the game so you don't have any right to bitch yet. You most likely lost because you suck.

Howdy WFG, I'm seeking some fellow hobbysts'advice.

I will soonish receive several of picrelated.

I love Nick Lund's dwarfs and cant wait to paint these and add them to my collection.
I play 8th edition, and will incorporate them in my games.
Now, i could just run them as filler in a unit of quarrelers, or use them in lieu of a bolt thrower.
While the easiest solution, it's also pretty boring.

I was thinking of making sone rules for them.

I could run them either as individual units of light artillery (a S5 shot with no armour save maybe?) or as an upgrade for a unit of quarrelers (counts as a sniper?), maybe some sort of anti-air defence. Or something similar to skaven's weapons team. Any idea/suggestion?

Idk, they're pretty cool looking and i think they deserve their own rules.

140 pounds for a battle march army
Comes to 265$ Can.
maybe it's because they're new sculpts, and they wonT' charge as much for the other battle march boxes, right?
Right?
>>
>>98445431
Those are euros dummy. It comes out as 5 euro more than a combat patrol. So probably $10 Canadian more than a combat patrol.
>>
>>98445375
I was hoping for slightly less but I guess it's to be expected. I'll still probably pick up the O&G one, but only one for now.
>>
>>98445434
226 instead of 265
Still maddening.
Althought better bang for buck than buying a battaillon box for both my armies (beastmen+Empire)
>>
>>98445460
No it's going to be $215 at most. Currency conversion doesn't matter, relative pricing does.
>>
>>98445375
Man thats gross. I dont see myself getting these boxes anymore.
>>
>>98445143
These are great, thanks!
>>
The O&G BM box actually addresses some holes I have in my army, but the amount of each unit is a bit awkward. I'd definitely want bigger bricks of boys and pig riders, so the options are to either buy an extra box of each anyway, or a second BM box. But it comes with THREE characters. I don't want duplicates, especially of that goblin shaman. And if I'm not using them, the value drops fast.
>>
>>98445522
Coming from someone who ended up with 5 bray-Shamans I understand.
They should fall back to selling units in groups of 10 or 20 instead of 30 for 3$ a pop
>>
>>98445522
Two goblin shamans can be pretty useful though. The only real issue with doubling the box is the second BSB in my opinion. If you mod him somehow for like a choppiest choppa or something that would be good.
>>
>>98445375
Damn that dragon must really be massive
>>
>>98445540
I guess, I just don't love the model and I don't want two characters that look the same. Guess I could use a second one for bits, or some kind of conversion down the line, but it still feels like a waste. And I already have like 15 different goblin character minis.
>The only real issue with doubling the box is the second BSB in my opinion. If you mod him somehow for like a choppiest choppa or something that would be good.
I do kind of like having multiple versions of BSBs actually, for different flags. Wouldn't use both at the same time though.

Crazy how good of a deal the Core Set is. Surprised it isn't a fomo box at that price.
>>
>>98445637
Historically, 2 players starter set were always priced very aggressively.

I remember the manager at the GW i used to go complaining about o&g being in 2 consecutive starter set (6th and 7th) because it meant that many players would just buy a set or two and trade parts with friends without ever buying much else. He was upset about there being a troll in the skullpass box because then basically no one would be buying the metal ones.

I remember him making passive aggressive comments to a kid (couldn't have been older tha 14) about his scratchbuilt goblin artillery, some snide remark about "starter players".

Or he'd be going on a tirade about space marine players who coudl get aways with just buying a tank and a dreadnought and the living off starter sets miniatures forever.

Long story short, i stole multiple dozens of skullpass dwarfs from the store (there were hundreds just piled unpainted in a cardboard box under a table) and never went back.

Now, 20 years later I'm almost done painting them and have not given a dime to GW and instead always only bought used miniatures. I guess he was kind of right, after all.
>>
>>98445782
can we see the dwarfs
>>
>>98444670
Just impulse bought another $4000 precision hunting rifle a few days ago. I assure you I can afford some toy army men. That doesn't mean the price is reasonable. Getting ripped off and buying something that's blatantly overpriced doesn't mean you have money, it means you're retarded
>>
>>98445845
>Getting ripped off and buying something that's blatantly overpriced
Nigga this is a luxury superfluous hobby, comparing GW sculpts to shitty historical sculpts is silly. If people wanted to save money buying cheap historical sculpts, you'd see it widely adopted. But almost no one does it, because people want Warhammer miniatures and enjoy Warhammer miniatures not gay ass histslop.
>>
>>98445375
Fucksake. Nearly 3 quid per warrior, more than a tenner per knight, and that's after online retailer discount. They're nice minis but not that nice.

No one mentioned historicals, you just outted yourself a having PDS (Perry derangement syndrome).
It's not just historicals that are more reasonably priced, it's literally all miniatures in existence outside of GW. Willingly spending 10x the price of any other miniature manufacturer simply because of Brand Name™ attached to it just means you're a slavish bugman. Same type of nigga that's obsessed with apple products for other reason that the logo attached to it
>>
>>98445918
You're the only deranged person here. You literally spend your free time (and have for over a year) in a place you hate, because you are upset that people enjoy Warhammer/TOW/Fantasy. Instead of moving on and spending your free time playing by yourself with your historicals you spend your free time in a far larger and more successful games community. You are genuinely pathetic and have used that image before in your melties.
>>
>>98445782
Aggressively sure, but at these solo prices you're basically getting the Cathay half of the box and the rulebook for free even using discounter pricing. Even at the bargain basement rates they're currently going for on ebay thanks to the set, you can probably make back a third of the value selling that Cathay half, maybe even push it above 50% if you also sell the rulebook. If you collect Chaos there's basically zero reason not to buy at least one, and if you collect Cathay you'd have to be mentally crippled not to pick up a couple of them since the Warrior half will go for much more, you'd probably end up with most of an army almost for free.

It's bizarre to me that they'll offer such huge discounts in the combo boxes when they would still sell with a more reasonable discount, and regular kits at a slightly better price would shift more units overall. And the usual "they're maxed out on production capacity so they can set whatever prices they like" line doesn't work when they're putting those same brand new minis in the starter box.
>>
>>98445794
I was about to post them, then i realized that having my miniatures (painted in a style that's fairly unique and easily recognized) associated with a story of me stealing stuff from a store isn't the best course of action, since it's kind of my side job (hobby focused instagram account and YouTube channel).
>>
>>98445895

The new Necromunda bundle seem a pretty good deal
So I'm not sure why the Battle March Boxes are priced like Combat Patrols.

Numunda players don’t typically buy the models from the system and usually use third party. Only space cops and votann really get sales.

desu I'm completely okay with bitching about things about people having a love and investment in. I see it as a mark of caring about the subject, as long as it's not mindless vitriol.

Friends and aquaitances have come to me about buying gdubs products despite bitching about them because I'll still help them shop for what they want. This has only got worse however because my LGS manager and some store goers (including post Critical Role crowd) drank the political kool-aid of the past decade and see any criticism, no matter how small, as a great offense. And no I don't bitch loudly and in front of customers or all session wrong. Had plenty of customer service in previous jobs and often help with some of the customers during busy times with permission.

Speaking of dwarfs, i remember back in 2014, before the 8th ed armybook came out, there were talks of dwarfs getting a brand new monstrous infantry or monster kit in the form of runic golem.
I always imagined them being the dwarf version of what the cathay sentinel ended up being.

Nothing ever came of it, but I'm surprised the idea was not explored in AoS by GW.
