I have a tremere guy who wears all kinds of different clothes. He does stuff like changes up his routes, wardrobe, car, etc. Not only is it good paranoia, but doing so gives him a sense of time & change, he thinks it might help save off the stagnation of undeath. If he never gets used to something then it means his mind is still malleable. On constant though is he wears a lot of bangles torcs, rings, amulets, pendants necklaces & other jewelry & accessories. He does this to obfuscate the handful of foci, talismans, & such he wears. He does run a cult & he has a "cult leader outfit" that he uses for his cults activities. Its a red robe & golden leper mask

In official channels, the most vocal feedback seems to be:
>Your character becoming unplayable because they are too moral and human is stupid, especially if it involves your character deciding to kill itself in a moment of human clarity.
>The Drama system is stupid and really limits the creativity of the ST and will either be ignored by STs or end up shackling them and really limiting what they're able to do in games.
>I'm really upset that eight years of V5 is almost entirely being reversed and that we're going back to the 90s status quo, it makes everything that V5 did feel meaningless.
So expect a lot of redesigning of the Humanity Scale and the Drama system, and maybe expect the preservation of some V5 stuff, like Giovanni being reverted to Hecata again.
>>
>>98437344
I feel like drama points will work fine and people are just upset about change. Since people feel they're too ridgid, maybe they could be tied into that character creation difficulty thing? Like, if you make Eldars you get more drama points, and neonates get less drama points. That'd give you some options and guidelines for shaking things up. People universally hated Hunger Dice when they came out, and now people only half hate them. Some people are even ride or die super fans!

Also, besides the Giovanni, what about V5 is being reversed? The announcement literally mentioned the Beckoning as having happened.
>>
>>98437344
No bitching about how retardedly crippling the Lasombra weakness is? It basically makes them reliant on ghouls, when its been established that Lasombra's in general don't do ghouls.
>>
>>98437348
The Beckoning happened, but is no longer ongoing.
The Second Inquisition happened, but is no longer ongoing.
The Hecata happened, but have reverted to the Giovanni.
Everything that V5 did to push the setting forward, even if we don't like how it pushed the setting forward, has been solved and no longer influences the setting, except as historical events that happened in the past.
Lots of V5 fans apparently hate that and "I don't want to go back to the 90s" is one the most common complaints.
>>
>>98437360
>when its been established that Lasombra's in general don't do ghouls.
Hasn't it also been established that they have a tendency to beat the fuck out of their ghouls because they do stuff like comb 53 times instead of 52?
>>
>>98437363
I personally didn't mind the lore changes apart from the Beckoning. Stuff like the SI in a world that becomes more and more surveillance state made sense to me (as, to be honest, does vampires figuring out AI slop to flood the zone with fake shit to confuse them). Hecata was...okay, my only gripe was that initially everyone just had the Giovanni bane, which was retarded. Also the Tremere deserved everything that happened to them.
>>
>>98437366
Lasombra have always been likened to cat people to the Ventrue's dog people.
>>
>>98437370
>Also the Tremere deserved everything that happened to them.
If the Pyramid remains broken, I'll be happy.
>>
>>98437379
Didn't one of the V5 blood god books have Saulot still pulling tricks forcing "Goratrix" to help out Salubri antitribu to counter it?
>>
>>98437057
>Also, Brujah being "anti-authority" is so fucking stupid.
Well, Ventrues are currently in control of most high offices of power so of course Brujahs will claim to be against all that while also trying to establish their own rival power network (see Sparta/Athens and Rome/Carthage and USA/USSR conflicts that were controlled by these two clans).
>>
>>98437363
>Everything that V5 did to push the setting forward has been solved and no longer influences the setting
Really? Where'd they say that? The way I interpreted it is that we'll be dealing with the fall out of those events and rebuilding after a great deal of loss. The Giovanni thing you've got me on. Besides that though it seems like we'll be picking up the broken pieces of the world.
>>
>>98437399
The complaint is about the fact that Brujah are now mechanically anti-authority, not just anti-authority because they're not the ones in charge.
>The Beast inside you demands that you challenge authority and break the rules that bind you. You satisfy it by challenging leaders, disobeying orders, destroying symbols of authority, and any other action that defies or sabotages structures of power and hierarchy.
>When you frenzy, you act against whatever or whomever you see as an authority figure in the scene. This act can be as simple as refusing to do what you were sent there to do, or as elaborate as actively trying to undermine an authority figure, such as urging a crowd to heckle the person giving a speech. All your other actions suffer a dice penalty equal to your generation modifier.

>>
File: v6 slideshow.jpg (347 KB, 1518x952)

>>98437402
V5 fans seems to be interpreting it differently. Second Inquisition has collapsed under its own weight, the Beckoning has ended, the Giovanni are back for some reason and are no longer Hecata, everything is just back to the 90s with a 2020s coat of paint. That's the V5 fan's complaint.
>>
>>98437408
Wasn't that always part of their curse where they wouldn't be satisfied with any status quo even if they were the ones who made it.
>>
>>98437425
What is The Promise of 1528?
>>
>>98437428
No, their clan curse was originally just uncontrollable anger and a higher propensity for frenzying.

V5 and V6 has turned this into uncontrollable anger specifically towards authority figures and a higher propensity for frenzying against authority figures.
>>
>>98437432
Brujah have finally become the Based Retards they were always meant to be

But what happens if a Brujah Prince/Archbishop frenzies?
>>
>>98437432
>>98437447
Brujah should have an innate drive to challenge the status quo, not necessarily authority itself. A clan of former warrior philosophers can do more than start marxist revolutions.
>>
Hey, I'm looking at the V6 playtest. Specifically at character creation, page 27
Is this implying I have the option to distribute 7/5/3 among physical, social, and mental attributes, OR to distribute them among power, finesse, and resistance?
>>
>>98437430
the non agression pact between the giovanni and camarilla that promises the giovanni their neutrality and makes them the only kindred that the camarilla isn't considering either citizen or enemies

in v5 there been rumors that the promise would end after 500 years, but back there the implication was that it was very likely just that rumors, rumors that the capuchin was using to scare the giovanni to the negotiation table after he and the cappadocians assassinated the elders in clan giovanni who knew the details of the promise. however i guess the current team has decided it's real
>>
>>98437457
>change for the sake of change

>>
>>98437399
Brujah are impulsive and violent, with strong tempers and emotions. As a result, they have a general tendency - by no means something that will override their fundamental beliefs by itself however - towards extremes, and to radical solutions (and subsequent situations).

It has absolutely nothing to do with beingn"anti-authoritarian" at all, and countless Brujah have in fact been enforcers of hierarchy and order and authoritarian structures since before the fall of Carthage, and most since the dark ages have been a pillar of the Camarilla, especially since most of the lower nobility (i.e. knights, etc.) of the Ventrue missed the merchant class gravy train and became a part of the Sabbat.
>>
>>98437460
> physical, social, and mental attributes
This. You can confirm by looking at the distribution this PC has:
>>98436932
>>
>>98437466
Maybe the Giovanni do join the Camarilla and the rest of the necromantic bloodlines that were going to be in Hecata leave the Gios for the Sabbat?
And the reason the Tremere can pick up Necromancy now is that the Giovanni offered to teach them the Sepulchre Path as part of the Promise of 2028?
>>
>>98437147
I've recently come to accept that they don't really have a serious plan, and the plot increasingly exists only to facilitate giving pity jobs to their ever-widening cohort of amateur voice actor friends and to satisfy SpeakerD's desire to blab about his autistic headcanon. And/or they just decided fully committing to a whodunnit was too hard and went to this since it's abundantly clear there's a widening power gap between the animation team and the writing team.

Ghoul was probably Grimal, her (probably) being killed off before it's even revealed to the audience is a baffling move, and an unsatisfying way of closing a plotline they had already practically abandoned for the foreseeable future. But really the writing of the last episode shit the bed the moment the actual fight against the werewolf started. Which was a shame, since there were flashes of good what with Brock stepping up to the hero plate and D finally seeming to lock in.

Also the sheer stupidity with which everyone approached the fight undermined the emotional weight of Grimal's (very by the numbers and cliche) sacrifice.

I find the in-story advertisements increasingly jarring and annoying. Holy shit just shill your overpriced plushies normally.
>>
>>98437586
midnight siege had a highranking camarilla member (i think it was a justicar?) state that they would like the giovanni to join but that their reputation is so bad that the can't sell it to the average camy... which is hillarious given that they have the tremere as members

but midnight siege is a revised book so i don't know if the current writing would consider it
>>
>>98437602
>which is hillarious given that they have the tremere as members
Everybody needs wards for their havens. They don't need a fleshlight with two weeks before it finishes rotting.
>>
>>98437588
I've always thought their venture in WoD was just their desire to show off everything they love or find cool about the setting, and they never had any meaningful plans or drive for a strong narrative. It'll be like TTS where the "story" is just an excuse to show off some awesome visual they made up or make a joke about a thing in the setting.
>>
>>98437588
The entire plot arc is symbolic of the War of Rage. They werewolves are doing wrong, but believe they are right, so they just continue to do wrong until the Rage takes hold of them and they fuck everything up for everyone. There can be no reconciliatory outcome now. The Leopoldites will never stop coming for the Black Shuck and the Arcanum is honor bound to destroy two of the werewolves at this point. The Werewolves will die, and probably only the Glass Walker will walk (lol)
>>
>>98437363
I think a lot of the angst about this shit is because the playtest is for testing the game bit of the game and has 2 pages of fluff. So they're treating the fluff as all the fluff because they've never heard of a playtest or an alpha and expect this shit to be magically finished.
>>
>>98437602
>>98437605
would you say the gios have a worse reputation than the lasombra? those are in the camarilla now after all
>>
Potentially a hot take, but the Giovanni are probably the second worst clan in general, with plot armor even thicker than that of the Tremere's. They got away with usurping a far larger (even after the Feast of Folly) clan, despite getting a later start to it than the Tremere, and not only did they manage it, but they also somehow convinced the Camarilla to give them a special exemption in this ludicrously one-sided treaty in exchange for... nothing at all from what I can tell. At least the Tremere needed to join the Camarilla outright in order to deal with the amount of enemies they made. They're a textbook example of a Clan that really works better as being a practical bloodline, even if they can technically claim clan status. Especially since everything they do other than necromancy is done better by Ventrue, Lasombra, and Tzimisce.

And for what it's worth, I genuinely prefer the necromancy balkans. The desire to force them all into one thing is understandable but misguided. I want a messy, indecisive usurpation. If it goes the same way every time, it feels boring and unrealistic. I like the idea that there's a bunch of shattered, fragmentary bloodlines of the Cappadocians running around, and also the genuinely unrelated Nagaraja. That way, you can use whichever necroid best suits your chronicle, and don't feel obligated to include the incest wops because they're a "Clan".

Some things being messy and complicated is important to making a setting feel realistic and lived in. I don't think the people writing VtM have understood this for a long time.
>>
>>98437645
giovanni are weird to me because they have like retroactive plot armor the cappadocians didn't exist in early vtm they got retconned in with the first dark age book and the giovanni chronicles before that the ancient clan of death was just called giovanni

i think it's because the giovanni needed a hook as they always been the least favorite clan when it came to book sales, but white wolf's only idea was the just copy the tremere's homework instead of changing the clan itself to be more interesting and in doing that they accidentially made a clan people liked more with the cappadocians
>>
So does Obeah/Valeren have an extra curse associated with focusing on it too much like the other disciplines or did God decide that giving you a third eye for learning it was enough drama already?
>>
>>98437602
>>98437631
The Giovanni have a history of playing the Prestation game with the Camarilla better than certain Cammy clans. The Camarilla lost the Brujah to the Anarchs and they need all the help they can get. They just have more reasons to keep the Giovanni inside than allow the Harbingers and Capuchin to steal them. The Giovanni have invisible ghostly spies.
I just think that, whatever comes to your mind when you think of "the Giovanni's reputation" matters little here, maybe the Elders are being pragmatic for once.
>>
>>98437612
Perhaps it was a mirage, but I was sold hard by the Probing of Kevin and especially A Life Well-Lived that they could do serious writing well. Everything after episode 4 has been downhill for me.

>>98437620
You have far more faith in them than I do. Besides which, you can have a strong theme and still fuck it up in execution. I'm struggling to really take this hunt seriously with how mind-bogglingly hard everyone fumbled against Stig. >>
>>98437651
Fair take. To a degree, all four independent clans suffer from this problem. They're all bloodline tier concepts, but created before the clan-bloodline distinction was invented. Thus, by virtue of being a Clan, the writers tried to retroactively give them more importance, gravitas, and power. Of the four, I think the Followers of Set work the best precisely because it's just accepted that they're an evil cult that everyone hates but nobody can ever fully destroy. They're ideal villain fodder. The others try to rise above their narrow concepts and largely fail, all for different reasons.

Also, I don't like the notion some writers have that all clans must be more or less equal. The inequality makes them interesting. Ventrue, for example, hold an insanely disproportionate amount of influence, wealth, and power over institutions mortal and undead. They should also be the least numerous of the Cam 7. Because they're undead aristocrats/oligarchs. Small in number, disproportionate in power is the name of the game there. As a clan Malkavians shouldn't outwardly seem that powerful politically or physically, but as individuals they should be terrifying. Not because they can tear someone apart, but because of their prophetic insight.

I think, in the struggle to make them "hang with the big boys", the indie 4 were ultimately done a disservice.

I want to vent about WTA V5 absolutely retarded ruling over the Crinos form.

Part of the appeal of being a werewolf is being a fucking big ass dangerous werewolf. So why limit it so much where its just a temporary power for a brief moment and that requires some form of violence??

Oh I've been presuming that Pentex is gonna third party everyone at the end since the coalition was revealed to be an actual joke. seriously, an alliance that doesn't actually come to the aid of a member when attacked and robbed. Wtf?

I'd still like for the actual Hunters to get at least a single kill on the dogs. Your heroes can only fuck up so hard before people won't root for them no matter how unreasonable you make their enemies.

Also, I don't even like the Society of Leopold that much, but I keep having to defend them. One of the writers must've had a really bad time in sunday school. That, or none of them have read the Inquisition book. A lance is three hunters. Gladius Dei are the elite troops of the Society. I was expecting a lot of the leopoldites to die as cannon fodder, I just wasn't expecting something as stupid as "not bringing any silver, and just mindlessly shooting in every direction until three of them remember they have true faith."

If they wanted their badass fight in the field, they could've just had other Garou distract and kill off SoF troopers while the fat greatsword guy could give Stig a beating and hold him off for our heroes to think of something.
>>
>>98437762
V5 is about being a wholesome chungus Thinblood trying to survive in the harsh conditions of le capitalismo and retarded Cammie overlords, with your inevitable fate being death by an SI squad, some elder or other unfortunate circumstance. The "horror" of V5 is balanced by being a cocksucker. Older editions actually allowed you to be a hunter and prey in equal measure as you tried to survive being a fucking scrub for your blood mafia masters.

Maybe he would have actually run when the wolf spirit told him to. His leap toward the Wyrm-Christ is what will ultimately doom him. It's not just his honor that's tainted, his Rage might be tainted now too.

Kinda wanted to have their cake and eat it too. Want to show the werewolves being cool and badass but also knuckle dragging retards, this creates a problem, because the kind of ooga booga werewolf that Stig is, is also the kind of werewolf that rushes in before checking if his enemies have silver weapons and then dying from it.

They still could've established him as a threat without making the society stupid, though. They gave him a gift that scrambles guns. He could've used that as an opening move, forcing everyone in a desperate melee scramble while say, Occam tries to unfuck someone's gun with magic so they can blast him.

Btw, found this in the Inquisition book.
>>
>>98437731
I think it makes sense, the pop culture idea of werewolf is not a furry, it's a human that sometimes transforms into a monster and goes on a rampage.
>>
>>98437712
>Fair take. To a degree, all four independent clans suffer from this problem. They're all bloodline tier concepts, but created before the clan-bloodline distinction was invented.

it's kinda sad to think about because just one release later with the storyteller book the baali are called a bloodline of demon worshipers and it's made clear that those guys are not a clan. And although technically they do have a "clan book" and sub-bloodlines i don't think everyone ever expected the baali to carry a entire clan worth of design space like people do with the independent clans do so they didn't get stretched out as much and could just stay evil demon vampires for most of the wod's run (v20's true black hand book sucks)

>Part of the appeal of being a werewolf is being a fucking big ass dangerous werewolf. So why limit it so much where its just a temporary power for a brief moment and that requires some form of violence??

it's yet another case of wod5 copying cofd without understanding why it works in that game

the werewolves in that game are different creatures who have to really work to keep their spirit and mortal sides in balance so going all out should be problematic for them while garou are murder machines meant to murder their enemies so going all out should come natural for them

He is, ironically, even more retarded than the Red Talon. She listened when someone told her to have restraint. This dumb asshole got himself silverburned because he doesn't know when to stop just like every other retard Garou that thinks everyone is a combatant in his primordial war against everyone who isn't furry.

I don’t think they were actually cut from WoD6. Mage, Vamp Dark Ages and Changeling were already on the pipeline for WoD5, but between it and Bloodlines 2 bombing and (if rumors are correct) their failure to make MtAs work on V5’s version of the storyteller system they decided to go forward with a new edition and are repurposing the work already done for those splats for it too. Most likely, if V6 actually survives long enough so M6 DA6 and C6 get released, we will see W6 soon(tm)
>>
>>98437645
Id rather the Harbingers reclaim their clan status & Gio get bloodlined. Having a group of skull faced necros in the Cam trying to pull themselves back into power when they were pretty much completely replaced would be interesting. And Nossies get some fuckugly buddies to be fuckugly with. Harbingers would be looked down on for loosing their place but respected for taking it back a little, the other clans would be catty about it, Harbingers would have a chip on their shoulders, they would want to make strong power plays so they could make themselves strong. Meanwhile we get to quietly bin the Gios while keeping enough of them around that you could still use them if needed

Best that could happen is the IP gets sold to someone else. & instead of rebooting a dead corpse a third time, they just stick with legacy WoD20 stuff. The problem is they completely diluted the IP & slit an already tiny player base.

70-80% of players play WoD20 or older, & prefer its setting. Theres also CofD/nWoD which had done a great job of catering to new players who didnt want the metaplot & setting of oWoD while still feeling familiar enough to old players. If they had continued with WoD20 for legacy content & CofD2e for those who weren't interested in legacy, it would have been perfect. Many people played both, & as evidenced in these threads almost everyone loved HtV. They could have milked that for years with an avid fanbase. But Paradox wanted new bullshit to back their new video game which they thought was gonna do gangbusters. If youve been paying attention to video games recently youll find a LOT of triple A dogshit being pumped & dumped for a culture war. Hell Halo is getting roughed up right now.

So they made V5. V5 destroyed the legacy setting on multiple fronts & they changed the mechanics as to be nearly nonfunctional within the setting. It also had the problem of destroying everything happening with CofD. Its even the reason we call it CofD instead of nWoD. V5 died on the vine because it appealed to a market that doesnt exist. So now we have WoD20, CofD, WoD5 (which isnt even all gamelines), & now V6+shit they were working on with stuff like the half finished notes of M5 which is up in the air with whatever theyre gonna call it. Not to mention CofD dying & trying to make their own WoDlite with Curseborne. Its a mess. Its a shattered mirror that no one wants

The weak will be purged and the strongest will thrive — free to live as they see fit, they'll make the Camarilla great again! ... In my new Camarilla, Kindred will die and kill for what they BELIEVE! Not for Domain. Not for vitae! Not for what they're told is right. Every Cainite will be free to fight his own Jyhad!

I'm even more of a mixer than you, only I definitely give CofD primacy over oWoD in most cases.
>Vampire: 80/20 in favor of Masquerade. It's got better bones, but adding things from Requiem help break up how rigid Masquerade can be. I drop most of the metaplot and adjust a few setting fixtures to my liking.

>Werewolf: Haven't settled this one yet. I've definitely come to prefer Forsaken in most respects, (I struggle to take the Garou seriously), but Apocalypse has a lot of interesting villains/ancillary elements worth salvaging/adapting. Trying to square that circle, since before I actually looked into Forsaken, early NPC werewolves were implied to be Apoc wolfs.

You should. Their worldview is something that's supposed to be alien for you to explore. Your best lens is through the eyes of a radical ecoterrorist. No connection there historically. Allegedly Canaan was Noah's grandson and the progenitor of the Canaanite people. Canaan is what Palestine was named before the Israelites rolled in, killed or raped everyone, and declared the place their home. Under Roman occupation it was called Judea. It became Syria Palestine later when the Judeans failed three consecutive revolts against the Romans and Hadrianus curbstomped them for it. You probably know the more modern Post-1948 bits that will only be fodder for political bullshit so I won't speak of them.

When the white-roomers talk about mages always being hyper-vigilant and prepared for anything, they aren't talking about them hiding in their bunker dimensions and being terrified of stepping outside of them. impossible how exactly? According to the mechanics it's trivial for a hermetic to have a mage-armor esque effect going and more or less a no-brainer.
You keep portraying this shit as immense fucking burdens on them when it's the work of a few days of ritual for a months long effect with no further maintenance that doesn't inhibit them in any way. Why wouldn't they have a mindshield (mind1) a forceshield (force 3) and an anti magic font (prime 3), if they have those spheres?
>>
>>98439423
And so far, they've only made contact with one werewolf. And he still slaughtered almost all of lance 2. Even if it's only one werewolf, it's a horrible strategy.

Besides which, I'd question the decision making skills of a hunter that assumes they're dealing with a lone werewolf without good cause. They're well known to come in packs.

You need to have high Correspondence and Spirit on top of whatever you're using to kill someone in the real world, and you need to have some sort of connection to whoever you're targeting otherwise the spell's is extremely difficult. We're talking 10+ required successes before we're even talking about the successes required to deal any damage. Unless you've got stupid amounts of Arete, such a remote-kill ritual is going to take days, provided that you don't botch it.
>>
>>98439445

>>
>>98439384
I think it's sort of because VtM is so steeped into culture war nonsense as it's foundation that it's hard to move the goalpost at all. What can you even add into it?
>Gays
Already part of Vampire shit because of fujos like Anne Rice and the writers
>Trannies
Tzimisce
>Class Struggle /Ageism
Already a native part of the setting
>Nazis and communists and genocidal maniancs
Literally every clan has a few of these somewhere
>Pagan religions and larping
Gnosticism is a bit pagan as it is and there were vamps around for Jesus

Where do you even go from there to seep in more culture war situations? Civil rights? No one actually cares about that anymore, for instance. Maybe you can have some Rudi-tier abortion NPCs but they're kind of just there. Werewolf just had the misfortune of having the factions in it based on real world historical ethnicities, which is probably going to be a heated topic when writers and execs discuss what to do with it to help it appeal to more people. Sort of like a
>How do we get more people interested in werewolf
>Well we remove the Fianna because that's an offensive term and turn them into the Hart Wardens and make them less Irish

Fans of any media notoriously have a lot of inertia against accepting changes to what they enjoy (often for good reason,) but those fans aren't who the game is for anymore. You can't really make vampire appeal to more people by making it less racist or weird, but you could *in theory* make werewolf more appealing by doing the same. Of course, they overcorrected, made a frankenstein abomination, alienated most of the original fans, and couldn't get much interest because they somehow didn't consider that maybe ecoterrorist furry is already an ultra-niche subject.
>>

I'd assume the original plan is to capture Matilda and hope Marcus was alive, they were completely unprepared for any combat gifts (which normies can't see) but that makes some sense since Matilda didn't use any. Afaik only Occam, D, and Marckus can see gifts (sorcerer, whatever the fuck is going on, and the eye)
>>

>>98439471

>>
>>98439471
My pet theory is that Lance 2 was willing bait just meant to slow down some of the Garou while Lance 1 is the one equipped for hunting. The lack of silver on lance 2 could lull the werewolf(s) into a false sense of security that can be capitalized on later. I'm not saying that it's not a pretty stupid plan though

and extended casting will only be a few hours and with arete 5 getting to 20 guaranteed successes is like only 4 hours with 4 willpower and 12 quint used

>>98439479
Absolutely nothing the leopoldites said would imply they wanted to capture the werewolf. They've been characterized as overwhelmingly shoot to kill, which is the one part of their characterization which has been tabletop accurate. Even then, the NO SILVER is still too jarring.

Let me put it another way, police officers are expected to attempt to nonlethally apprehend a suspect in the overwhelming majority of calls. They still carry firearms for if they are confronted with unexpected threats that require lethal force. This is not a crackhead, this is a werewolf. Even if, for whatever fucking reason, the goal was to capture rather than kill, not having a lethal backup option is a more negligent standard operating procedure than the fucking cops.

Anti-magic requires a full-turn action and Quintessence expenditure. Innate countermagic requires shit like Primium, that demand way more than just Prime 3. I can assure you that you absolutely cannot erect a month-long anti-magic effect that protects you from the spells of others with Prime 3 alone.
Most Forces effects are instantaneous, you're going to need other Spheres if you want to create a ward against projectiles aimed at you or if you want to lock the forces involved to the living thing that is you.
This isn't even going into the narrative side of it, in the form of foci and paradigms, which might not allow your character to just erect these shields free of charge. Then there's the question of Paradox for the force shield, which would almost definitely be vulgar, if you're somehow able to pull off a month-long protective shield against anything trying to physically harm you.
There's a lot more to it than "just have Mind 1 Forces 3 Prime 3 and you're immune to everything for a month lol."

>anti magic requires a full turn action..
Doesn't mean Parma Magica isn't something most mages should have, if they can.
>most forces effects are instantaneous and need to be locked to something
Duration is duration according to the rules. I mean, I guess you could argue you need to lock it to clothing (matter) or your pattern (life)? Meh. Besides the point, really.
>Paradigms
Most paradigms should allow versions of these. The mystical paradigms, like Verbena or Hermetics, 100%, which happen to be what most people think of when they say wizard. Paradigms generally aren't supposed to make a given effect harder, just flavor it differently.
>vulgar
Depending on strength when cast out of a sanctum, I suppose it could be vulgar. But why do I give a fuck about the singular point of Paradox generated on a successful ritual that's gonna be running for 6 months. Either way, realistically all mages have a sanctum.
The mindshield is just straight up said to be always coincidental and really is as shrimple as lol mind 1 fuck you have fun beating x successes.

>>98439565
I was curious about the math, since the cap is -3 with a final DC of 5, it would be:
5*[(0.6 * 1) + (0.1 * -1)] = expected 2.5 successes per extended roll.

On average,
10 successes: 10/2.5 = 4 extended rolls
20 successes: 20/2.5= 8 extended rolls

Anon was wrong in that m20 does not use willpower expenditure for extended rolls which are instead capped by arete + willpower. This means that for 20 successes an arete 5 mage would only need 8 hours of casting time, to have at least 3 permanent willpower, and no quintessence required.

Po-tay-to, po-tah-to

2nd edition adn Revised have a Tremere house that dealt with Necromancy and voudoun and included members of other clans, presumably Samedi since they're voudoun necromancers

V20 Lore of the Clans has "the Covenant", which plundered Cappadocian strongholds for necromantic knowledge after the Giovanni betrayal and supposedly held secrets the Giovanni wished to see buried, but no complete understanding of Necromancy or how to incorporate it into Thaumaturgy

then there's the stupid ass Telyavs with their suspiciously necromantic Thaumaturgy that's kinda koldunic-ish?

Maybe after all these centuries of dilly-dallying they at least managed to get the entire Ash, Bone and Sepulcher paths...

Speaking of, Maturation makes me thing maybe simplers plaths could be adapted as a single power for the sorcerous disciplines.

Like Lure of Flames is a Blood Sorcery power that deals more damage at higher levels, Movement of the Mind lifts heavier things, Conjurations makes more complicated objects, etc... back to the good old days of 1st edition Thaumaturgy

The only lengths of time given for how long a ritual takes are given by an optional rule, but according to that optional rule, if a spell requires ten successes or more, it counts as a great work and requires five hours per Arete roll made in order to complete it. Combine this with the rules for ritual exhaustion and how a stamina roll of difficulty equal to the base difficulty of the spell is required if the ritual lasts for longer than a number of hours equal to the mage's dots in stamina (with the difficulty increasing even if he succeeds and a failure requiring Willpower expenditure to keep going), the mage will be forced to take breaks, with each break requires a Wits + Esoterica roll that starts at the base difficulty and increases by 1 per break taken, which the ritual failing if this roll fails at any point.

So yes, this ritual to nuke some asshole from your own private horizon realm would take days, if not weeks to complete, unless the mage has a bunch of other mages of equal Arete to assist him as collaborators.

true but 10+ successes are totally unnecessary to kill most people. 5 successes deals 12 agg (for a forces effect) and kills the vast majority of things. It also takes a minute to five minutes according to the very same optional rule.
So if you aren't a mage, and the mage can already hit you with fireballs of this level, nothing stops him from spamming them at you until you are dead.

I genuinely don't know what a non trememe vamp, a garou or even most other mages caught in the open would do.

>Doesn't mean Parma Magica isn't something most mages should have, if they can.
Explicitly just a Hermetic thing.
>Paradigms generally aren't supposed to make a given effect harder, just flavor it differently.
Paradigms absolutely are meant to influence what spells a mage is able to cast and how a mage casts them. A mage with a certain paradigm literally might not be capable of certain spells if they don't have what their paradigm asks for. For example, most Verbena use physical spell components in the form of blood, herbs, semen, whatever. Even the example of a spell that you gave, Parma Magica, has a spell component that it cannot be cast without.
>Duration is duration according to the rules.
But lots of spells are instantaneous and don't have a duration. What does adding a duration to teleportation do? Without locking the effect to a particular pattern, why would it have a duration at all? What's to stop it from just continually casting in that particular point in space if you increase its duration, instead of attaching itself to you?
>But why do I give a fuck about the singular point of Paradox generated on a successful ritual that's gonna be running for 6 months.
Because the ST might rule that it should be permanent Paradox for the duration of the spell, due to the fact that your mage is evidently being protected by a supernatural force that repels things away from them.
Then there's the fact that having multiple effects up and running will make your other effects more difficult. A force field is a specific example given of a running effect that raises the difficulty of other spells that you might try to cast while you have it up.
>>

My idea would be that God or the Demons created the "thing" that would later be called the God-Machine to be the janitor of Creation, or like control panel. It would regulate Creation & keep the gears turning while God was away or while the Demons were jailed, etc. Now the Wyvr, finds a way to hack into the thing & fucks it up & is able to siphon some of its power or something esoteric to that nature. This is what let's the Wyvr have an edge against the other Triat to capture the Wyrm & subjugate the Wyld. But the G-M is now damaged or running haywire. It sees Mages who can create using power that doesnt come from it as a huge threat. It wants to kill all reality deviants. It wants a surveillance state over the entire world, etc. Its also gotta grease the gears & keep the weird esoteric spirit world/underworld shit running too, so it has cults & stuff that do weird esoteric shit like the CofD G-M does. The Technocracy would then be moved to be more akin to the Mage equivalent of Glasswalkers. Any of the truly evil lobotomy conspiracy shot would get moved more into the G-M's territory.

Tldr I dont think so but a clan's ante dying has canonically fucked with their clan.
>>
>>98439938
>Clans are just a social categorization
The Camarilla, Anarchs, and Sabbat are social organizations that recognize some bloodlines as The Real 13 Clans and others as offshoots or lesser. Clan is a labels given to certain individual bloodlines that do enough important shit, like eating an Antediluvian or conquering a holy land.

>>
>>98439898
>Does eating an Antediluvian actually fuck over a bloodline, like, magically?
I dunno, I mean I'm sure it can. There's this very long-running implication that older vampires - especially the supposed antediluvians and *especially* Caine can influence their childer and their bloodlines via the blood, and that no-one is free of these chains that bind. It might be bullshit, but I believe it. The blood carries a lot of power, and from an omniscient observer POV (the most boring POV) we know that some antes may even have let themselves be diablerized just to assert themselves over the diablerist later and force their consciousness out.

Cappadocius cutting Giovanni and his bloodline off from himself as Giovanni is drinking his soul is certainly not unimaginable, neither is it that the loss of Cappadocius would affect his childer negatively, and take their "Deathly palor" into the territory of "Literally rotting".
>>
>>98439920
>So, that's not a clan then
Its part clan part political alliance. iirc there was a ritual enacted at the Family Reunion that amalgamated the bloodlines into a unified clan. Its part of why bloodlines turned into loresheets and you have the ability to purchase your bloodline's unique discipline as a 4 dot merit or trade one of the standard Hecata disciplines for your bloodline's discipline.

Rank 5 Silver Fang Gift

With a glare and snarl, the Silver Fang strips her foe of any supernatural power. Many servants of the Wrym have tried to employ their putrescent magic against the Fangs, only to realize that they face a mighty foe with only mundane methods of defense. A falcon-spirit teaches this Gift.

System: The player spends a Gnosis point and rolls Gnosis (difficulty of the target’s Willpower). Each success removes all special abilities/magical powers for one turn.

>Parma Magica is just hermetic, Paradigms influence what spells you can cast etc.
A mage should generally have access to an effect based upon the spheres they control. A fireball is Forces 3 Prime 2 no matter how you justify it within your paradigm, and generally you should be allowed to justify it within your paradigm. I'll admit there's some muddying the waters going on in regards to some things, but this is generally the intent the rules put forth. Thus an ecstatic or an akashic should totally have a differently flavored but mechanically equivalent Parma Magica.
>Duration etc.
Yes, but obviously a personal forceshield is within the purview of forces and I don't know why you are arguing about this, frankly. You can reinforce your skin with life or your clothes with matter, or combine all three. Increase the difficulty of enemy attacks via Entropy. Broadcast distracting psychic messages into the minds of those who mean you harm. All of these are feasible long lasting defensive ritual effects. A mage might have any or multiple of these.

>A mage should generally have access to an effect based upon the spheres they control.
Parma Magica has very explicit Hermetic requirements, such as saying the Incantation to Welcome Strangers backwards. I think the assumption that anyone can do anything within any paradigm and that a mage's focus is nothing more than a coat of paint really spoils Mage as a game.
>A mage might have any or multiple of these.
At the cost of raising the difficulty of other spells that they cast while these effects are active. Anyway, these rituals will already require at least five successes, which means the mage has only four more successes that they can spend before the ritual becomes a great work, something which is going to be borderline impossible for a mage fresh out of character creation to complete. Even as a standard ritual, completion is still far from guaranteed.
So any mages fresh out of character creation who do walk around layered with protective spells that last for six months have earned it by succeeded at rituals that are far from guaranteed to work and are also gimping any other spell that they might want to cast while they're keeping their protective spells running.

>Parma Magica is hermetic
A Verbena can achieve the same effect by invoking whatever Gods associated with magic their personal Paradigm requires, taking whatever actions their paradigm requires. The Spheres ARE the magical abstraction of what a mage can do within his paradigm already, there is no need to double tax it. You need to justify things within your paradigm, yes, but you can cast effects within the spheres you own.
>difficulty penalty
Wrong, first of all. As long as an effect has a duration, it does not add to difficulty. At least in M20. This is only for effects you actively maintain beyond the duration. I do vaguely agree that this is bad and what causes a lot of the bullshit, but not nearly all of it, like magical items.
>Great Works, Mechanics, Rituals..
Assuming divided successes optional rule&the ritual works time rule. Either way a 9 success ritual that is done in a day but lasts for months or even weeks and very significantly increases the difficulty to kill you is a no-brainer for mages. There is fucking people out there trying to slime you out at every moment. How you achieve this ritual is secondary, I can promise you every tradition likely can. Either way, the mage is not botching this. They are reducing the difficulty by -3, casting in a sanctum and spending WP on every roll, because those are all trivial things.
>>

>actually participate in the Chronicle instead of locking himself up in a Chantry for several weeks
The answer to this is to have a sense of urgency in the game and a problem that they need to deal with as soon as possible. A runaway killer they've got to catch before they get away, a captured mage who they have to rescue before they're killed or converted, whatever.

Sooner or later the PCs will need downtime to spend their EXP, progress individual agendas, or just to have time reasonably pass between major events. You can't keep telling the preplanning autist that there's no time for prep work indefinitely.

It's a lot better to have legit limitations to buff stacking and have PCs do rituals for grand effects rather than casting +12 Aggravated Soak on their underwear.

Giovanni are an actual single bloodline that can fit it's lore summary into a beginner's guide. Hecata is an unholy amalgam of three or four bloodlines that calls themselves a single clan. It's just too much baggage. I wouldn't be surprised if the Hecata get bumped up to organization status, like the Camarilla and friends.

Why isn't every other mage in the setting just as smart? Why isn't every Technocratic Sleeper goon enhanced with multiple 9 success rituals and wielding guns enhanced with 9 success rituals? After all, the Technocracy has loads more resources at their disposal than you.
That's the sort of game that you end up with if you want to try and be this optimal. Everyone has a -3 difficulty modifier to shoot you to make up for the +3 difficulty modifier to shoot you that you've applied to yourself.

actually makes more sense the Giovanni got away with it than the Tremere soloing 3 clans, a tradition, and like 2 tribes of garou at the same time

>>

This is why you lay low and do street tier adventures until you've earned the right to challenge the shadow government. That sounds cool as hell, for the end of a story. It suck to just start out like that.
>>
>>98440294
So you're casting a ritual to teleport a hair to you, that you have no connection to and that is on the other side of the Gauntlet and that is anywhere on Earth...

Once again, that's twelve or more successes required. You're casting a great work to make another ritual not a great work. It's pretty self-defeating.
>>
>>98437855
It's because they're using W5 as the base for their Werewolf stuff, then supplementing with cool stuff from the old editions. Matilda is a W5 Red Talon.
>>
>>98440299
>Why isn't every mage in the setting this smart
Well, they kind of are implied to be but it's handled very inconsistently. Between books saying mage x should have y dice in prepared rituals in any given moment or just saying things along the lines of "they should generally be assumed to have cast z effect with their spheres, up to ST". So it's not like they're portrayed as defenseless.. Though sometimes they are. But then again, sometimes Methuselah die to Flareguns.
>Technocracy
First of all, the effort to do this shit escalates exponentially with the amount of goons you have, with the majority of goons the technocracy deploys being just that. If you do go against things they've got money invested in then this is the case, is it not? You're talking about the equivalent of HIT Marks or Void Engineer technicians in Hardsuits& cybernetic augs with laserguns.
You ARE gonna get fucked and you WILL lose if you make this an open fight.
>The difficulty modifier thing
And by your logic nobody will have better, worse or different preparations than another. A technocracy goon has his enlightened science gear and a hermetic has his mage-armor. Not every Mystic has the mage-armor, but the vast majority of mystics have, well, something. Many things, even. And they all work differently.
>>

>>
>>98440333
Anon do some more thinking. You can do it in the real world safetly with 6 successes required and no other spheres, since no one is realistically constantly keeping track of every single hair folicle. Then you can just go to your horizon realm and have only the gauntlet plus one successes.

The Technocracy are exponentially more powerful than the Traditions. There's nothing stopping every Techie facility from having an Enlightened engineer who does several rituals a day buffing the local goons and their equipment.
>>
>>98440358
ah but this one stops them from giving a homeless man 20 dollars to stab me. you know they always ward against magic but they never ward against the methhead special
>>
>>98440282
Nah, a Methuselah's cult incited a rebellion within the Giovanni by promising the younger members, a better position after killing their parents, support to get it done, and secret techniques they had gathered from other necromantic bloodlines.

In exchange for that, they would follow the Capuchin, who's probably just Lazarus, and do some magic bullshit to bind them all together into a new clan, but they fucked up, and most of the bloodline members ended up becoming Giovanni instead, only keeping some minor traits from their previous blood if they got anything at all.

[Giovanni] is probably perma dead, but we have no confirmation, and there's a decent chance the new version is going to do something with how things are changing.
>>

Aside from all the other thousands of things they have need for, yes. Like controlling the entire consensus, world governments, shaping reality and so on. They could and they would produce an unfathomable amount of supersoldiers if threatened. But this damages the timetable, consensus and their other plans. But the point is they do. They do this. Usually by producing hyperscience and handing it out, or having that hyperscience attack directly.

>>
>>98440429
Very, very strange argument Anon. They can't by definition. There is finite resources, and they can merely allocate spending them. An engineer that casts a ritual to keep the cybernetic enhancements on a supersoldier running for the next year is not casting a spell that advances the timetable. Simple as.
>>

Thats the one I was thinking of. So obviously the opposite would be true cause if anything the Tremere are more devious & underhanded. Either way I feel like you're being ridiculous at this point. Your assumption can not be true because otherwise the setting could not function, whilst hermetics having mage-armor or akashics dodging bullets does not break the setting and follows neatly from mechanics.
>>
>>98440500
>NPCs being optimal breaks the setting, only I am allowed to minmax!
>>
>>98440512
No one's allowed to minmax. It's not fun mechanically and basically illegal narratively. Come, party with us in the streets. We get to win sometimes, instead of never.
>>
>>98440512
These are not equivalent statements as you have portrayed them. I could literally flip your statement about alternate dimensions and say tradition mages do this too and are thus infinitely powerful. This is obviously not true and doesn't function for the setting provided.

"Hermetics have mage-armor" and "The technocracy is manufacturing super-soldiers" are roughly equivalent statements and well supported in the lore and mechanics.
>>
>>98440527
>I could literally flip your statement about alternate dimensions and say tradition mages do this too and are thus infinitely powerful.
The Traditions are known to be retarded, whereas the Technocracy are literally responsible for maintaining all of society as we understand it for the last five centuries.

This would leave two slots for new tribes to help add some worldliness to the Garou too if needed. Keep the TMNT gonzo elements. If anything lean into it more. Dial back on the apocalypse so Garou have some room to breathe culturally. Dont dial back the futility on their mission

Mages

I honestly think Elise is a Sluagh and they didn't include her because they don't want to add another type of supernatural so soon. They probably think it would be too much for the sleepers in the audience to keep track of, and that's the same reason why they won't include Kevin. For some reason everyone assumes the audience is retarded nowadays to the detriment of the product.

I think we should refrain from assuming that all just because effects are possible, effects are similar. There's also the whole thing about Zapathsura basically being a blood god of deception and illusion, so it is entirely possible that he's not dead at all, and at least one ante is speculated to have had itself eaten on purpose knowing beforehand the diablerist would not be able to contain him.

It is also entirely possible that the Cappadocians were *already* decaying as a result of their studies or Cappadocius transgressions, and that Cappadocius was actually just holding this off. If so, sawing off the Govanni branch became an unintended blessing to them, and the final(?) death of Cappadocius didn't fuck up the bloodline, it just removed his protection.

And if there's an ante that'd just straight-up live on as a fucking ghost or something, its Cappadocius, and who knows what curses he'd get up to or what effects that'd have, even if he cannot affect his childer through the blood anymore. And that's without going into the whole subplot of the last parts of Cappadocius vitae still being kept away from Giovanni, maybe, which could also explain how Giovanni is just Giovanni, and cannot assert influence over the others, since the diablerie was never finished.

Man I hope Paracock never touches any of this. I know gWoD is a different setting from oWoD but it's just fun to speculate and demystifying shit is always unsatisfying retardation, and things from one setting would leech over into the other since one is wearing the other as a skinsuit.

Caine was new to his powers in the mythical past. Remember he had to consult the Crone to develop the Blood Bond & such. He was also probably tired of killing. By the time he curses the Antedeluvians hes given up on trying to control vampires. He just wants to fuck off & be alone. So the Antes run loose & propagate the blood creating new powers & finding new disciplines all of which Caine benefits from, & when he finally grows tired of letting them run amok he will slay every last one of them. He can call his blood back as easily as he can send it forth.

Capitalism has never been codified either. It is used with three almost completely different meanings, minimum, and literally started as a pejorative defined by its opponents.

Fascism is at least partially defined by virtue of having proponents that espouse specific beliefs, even if, it being an evolutionary ideology that rejects an end of history utopia, the specifics are debatable. Things like third-positionism, integralism/biopolitik, corporatism/syndicalism, etc. are not optional features, but core concepts.

I hope v6 gives us some longer stories that take advantage of the vampire's l9ng life. I know the setting is kind of locked in place by the metaplot, but I feel like you've gotta have some wiggle room there.
"Oh, I remember reading about this one NPC three editions ago was in this situation and made this decision. But for this story we're the main characters and I'm the one making the decision. I'll do something different instead."
Let players actually build their own "world of darkness" that still follows the broad metaplot and just also allows for more options too. I think it'd be the best of both worlds.

>Mage - Never touched either of them, Ascension and Awakening making the same acronym is stupid.
>Changeling - Never played either of them, can't comment but maybe skew towards oWoD as it seems a bit more grounded?
>Demon - CofD. I loved reading Descent, but I'd have no clue how to actually run a game of it. I get the appeal for classically Infernal demons, but I don't see how it'd be a fun game.
>Mummy - No clue, oWoD probably has more context and lore to make it more engaging.

>After a while, strange things start happening to the Caitiff that are out in the wilderness, assuming they don't get ripped apart by Lupines. They start changing. It's never the same way twice; some grow more animalistic, some start losing cohesion and just roam around as a fog that grows solid when it feeds. I've seen a few myself, and I've talked with others that have seen them. Devolvers are what I call them. They aren't human anymore, and whatever it is that they become, it's more of a demon than anything else. When you're that far gone, I figure anything that ends your existence is a mercy killing, not an act of violence.
>There was one Caitiff I knew.... Her name was Veronica, and she just wasn't strong enough to take the grief she got dealt. She took off into the woods, and that was the last that anyone saw of her. At least, that's what I let everyone think. I ran across what was left of her about five years later, and she had devolved into something that just didn't deserve to suffer. I was traveling from Fort Worth, Texas, over to Phoenix, Arizona, and I came across her in the hours just before dawn. She sort of slithered along in a trail of her own slime. I wouldn't have recognized her at all, except her face was still partially human and these tattoos from her time before were still visible, even though the rest of her had just sort of merged into a giant snake-like... thing. She was a good 10 feet in length, and her arms and legs looked more like what belonged on a tadpole; they were just residual stumps, useless. She still had the same almond eyes and the same little pug-nose, but her mouth was just a hole filled with little hooks, like you see on a leech. She wasn't very strong from the beginning, and being in the wilderness hadn't done much for her. I tried to make her death painless.
Huh, I was expecting this to be the usual Wight deal not a slug monster. Guy also spitballs about if the clans have the same problems away from human contact.

Another WtF question. Spirits innately consume Essence available to them, if it matches their concept/umia then that's good and they grow stronger from it, but if it doesn't match then they devolve into Magath. I'm trying to understand a dynamic for a short introductory piece to explain the ecosystem of the Hisil to both my players and myself.

If a small spirit court in a burned out apartment building, spirits of smoke and fire etc suddenly find that their building is being restored and renovated for habitation, would these new spirits of construction and habitation etc constitute enough of a change to the Hisil ecosystem that either the Burned court or this new presence of Construction and Homes would clash? Would the Burned court be starved of their suitable essence and fade away, or would they be eaten by the new arrivals (who are presumably stronger as they have more Essence being generated in the real world?) and devolve into Magtha, making a new home that is suspiciously prone to gas-leaks and stoves being left on?

>It's literally in the rules anon.
Yeah but it takes a lot of concerted and deliberate effort and it's fairly easy to avoid. So if you're not gunning for it then it's not really that likely. It's in the rules but it's not something you'll just accidentally do to yourself. You will have to make that choice as a player. It doesn't seem like it'll come up unless you make it come up.
>Why are you so dishonest? You know that's not what we're talking about. All the Vampire games have you engage with your humanity; only V6 treats high humanity as a forced failstate. Retarded shill retard.
It's not dishonesty, we just have different opinions. I don't think there is much different on a design level to retire a character at "0" or "10" in the context of V6. It's equal work on both side and will require effort on your part. You have to hit the end state 5 times without recovering a circle from the other side to become a wight which gets you retired. The same is true for humanity. If you don't want to have your character retire the game won't force it because of the effort you need to engage in that loop and avoid backing off of it, but if you do choose to do that then I think it's generally just fine because it's the same level of disengagement as turning wight is. It's not something that breaks the lore of the setting so I'm not really bothered about it. It's just a thing to focus what the game is about and if the core book wants the struggle to be a struggle then that's, I think, is well in line with Vampire as a franchise.
>>
>>98442204
I don't think it's gonna let you make your own setting or advance time into the future, but it does seem like DAV6 is on the docket and Elder rules do seem like they'll be core (or at the very least future proofed for), so I could see some sort of progression from DAV to Modern Nights

I think that most people never give a crap about caitiff because of power gaming, but as I write this that cannot be the entire story. The Tremere, Lasombra, and Dracul clan exists and people power game with them as well, but when it comes to caitiffs I see a lot of gms go on defensive mode about them.

I guess they might see them as being potentially breaking. The silly part is thin bloods were rarely played because it was bad mechanically. Although the crazy shit is that thin bloods can make their own disciplines, but i've never seen a gm allow someone to do that or have npcs do it as well. Thinblood alchemy in V5 is supposedly powerful but never looked at it. I guess the reason caitiffs never took is because everyone is just there for the clans and to claim a social space, but not actually be forced to make one like a caitiff and thin blood has to.
>>
>>98442436
>Although the crazy shit is that thin bloods can make their own disciplines
caitiff had that in the book of outcasts and even merits that would allow them to found bloodlines if they manage to finish a new discipline and i think that's what kinda doomed them

Nobody said that they were, retard, but just to be clear, Druids traditionally absolutely are. Either way, however, it is a common D&D motif in regards to both of them. I am sorry you're new to the hobby as a whole, but if you don't know the differences between Neutral, True Neutral, and Unaligned, you should probably shut the fuck up.
>You can't claim it came out of no where though.
No-one said it came out of nowhere, the issue is that in regards to the previous WoD settings that V5/V6 insists that it is part of, this shit makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It is not about "personally not liking the new addition", you blithering fucking mongoloid. The RAW is literally forcing out characters that are too good at staving off the Beast, even if they are in no way dedicated to ideals or beliefs that would be conducive to such a stage exit. You even trying to defend this - for whatever reason, it is truly a mystery - just makes you seem increasingly desperate and pathetic.

Tell me, you dumb fucking faggot, what does this actually add to anything? What does it actually *do* that makes you want to defend it? It doesn't make any sense, and every invention of increasingly specific scenarios has just been cope that cannot be said to universally reflect characters that would become subject to the rule, easily pierced even by the most basic of midwits. So what gives? Answer that so that we can laugh at you some more.

Babies keep complaining about how world of darkness is just edgy super heroes nowadays. This is a mechanic that adds consequences to being a goody good super hero. It encourages people to do fucked up evil things in exchange for staying in the story and getting to wield awesome power. Sometimes restrictions exist to encourage specific behaviors. "Why bother with health points at all? It's just bullshit abstract mechanical consequences instead of letting the Storyteller narrate what happens when I charge twenty SWAT officers fangs out!" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neopronoun
Singular they had emerged by the 14th century as a third-person pronoun, about a century after the plural they,[9] and is first attested in the 14th-century poem William and the Werewolf.[10] Neopronouns were not coined until the 18th century.[3]

One of the first instances of a neopronoun being used was in 1789, when William H. Marshall recorded the use of "ou" as a pronoun.[11]

I mean, new bloodlines do evolve and drive each other to extinction. I feel like it has to exist in the world or there would only be one bloodline for all vampires from Cain. the panders are not a bloodline they are just a name given to seperate them from the caitiff outside of the sect in way that is meant to say that they are given more respect in the sabbat than outside of it

every caitiff no matter if they belong to a new caitiff bloodline (not that any of those ever showed up in canon... but acording to lore of clans the panders at the very least pretend to have several of those) or are fully unbound would be considered "panders" in the sabbat

>Babies keep complaining about how world of darkness is just edgy super heroes nowadays
Oh, so you call people complaining about World of Darkness being about edgy superheroes these days "babies", yet you're spending an inordinate amount of time defending a mechanic that you insist exists to curtail that very thing? Why would you defend a mechanic that enforces something you suggest would appeal to "babies"? This comes across as deeply dishonest, and suggests that you're in fact just desperately looking for whatever way you can find to defend this, regardless of qualitative value or even your own opinion, which really can't be anything other than the most genuine display of autism on /tg/ right now.
>It encourages people to do fucked up evil things in exchange for staying in the story
Oh, so you should act against the interest and characterization of your character - a characterization not uncommon within the universe as it has traditionally been presented - or else the mechanic will swoop in and delete your character.. in a roleplaying game? A mechanic should enforce characters doing "fucked up things" in character, OR ELSE? Because that's exactly what you're suggesting here.
>That's you right now.
No, equating HP to this is actually psychotic. Health is an abstraction, and with its full expenditure YOU LITERALLY DIE. No, it has been implied countless times that vampires are developmentally "stuck" at their time of embrace, have have intense difficulties changing over time, and this only gets worse (or more apparent) as they age. The idea that a vampire would become a pronoun-collecting retard looking for ways to label themselves just because they become stuck in their physical appearance is idiotic.

Also, fun fact, this part about the appearance is true for humans, too, psychologically, just not physically. People's idea of themselves tend to calcify in their late 20's/early-to-mid 30's and then remain constant bar trauma, with people soft-retconning their own memory of themselves as they slowly change.

"Oh no I can't have a tattoo anymore, I better self-define as a demisexual powerbottom and insist others change the pronouns they use to describe me as an expression of my personality." - mode of thinking that can only have been dreamt up by the clinically insane.

We really need to bring back school uniforms and bullying as a social mechanism, so that children can relearn that there are genuine ways of expression that are not about social media-induced attention whoring. And you? You're one of those babies? Because you just raised this complaint, little baby.
>now the babies are too fussy to eat what they specifically asked for.
Literally no-one asked for this, liar. No-one. Not once in the history of any WoD setting, not in oWoD, not in nWoD, and not even in gWoD; not even once has anyone asked for the nonsensical forced retirement of characters based on an arbitrary metric that measures a facet of engagement with the setting as presented.
>Why make a character that refuses to engage with the systems and universe as presented?
No-one suggested anything like that, but rather that the system is shit, and you know it, you dishonest little faggot. The universe as presented has always allowed for these characters, and your attempt to enforce elsewise is pathetic.
>And yet, you are hating on a mechanic designed to move the stories away from power fantasy super heroes.
You attempt to go "MIRROR MIRROR!" because you do not understand *why* a mirror was held up to you earlier. The opposite does not work against me, because your equivalence is once again false - I am not arguing against this mechanic based on the fact that it is designed to move stories away from power fantasy super heroes, I am arguing against it because it makes no fucking sense. You see, there is this thing non-autistics with an IQ over 80 can do where we are capable of identifying and criticizing multiple different things at once, based on their own individual merits (or lack thereof) in isolation from eachother. I can say "I dislike TTRPGS being characterized as vapid power fantasies" while also criticizing a mechanic that by your own presented logic *forces* characters to do "fucked-up shit" "just because" just to not run afoul of it, in a manner completely antithetical to actual roleplaying, and risk having your character deleted because.. uh.. he.. walked off the stage? Because.. he just did, OK?! Retard.

Pentex just receives part of their funding from the Technocracy. They obviously don't tell investors about what they do or how they do it; they have their own employees.
>>
>>98442979
There's a significant branch of the Syndicate called the SPD, which is devoted to cooperation with Pentex and played an important part in funding it in the first place. As long as Pentex gave the Syndicate their substantial dividends, the SPD protected Pentex from Technocratic reprisal.
After the Avatar Storm, everyone in the SPD vanished, and everyone who investigated the SPD's disappearance also vanished. The Syndicate eventually decided to cover up the SPD and the disappearance of an entire major branch of their convention, along with all of the significant resources that they had accumulated, which included heaps of Pentex techno-fetishes. Pentex continues to pay off the Syndicate despite the SPD being gone, so the Syndicate isn't that interested in investigating. Better to not bite the hand that feeds, right?

Clearly they don't become calcified at embrace in V6 because they can get a nostalgic decade that isn't the decade they were embraced.

Which makes the nostalgic decade thing doubly fucking silly. We had that, it was called 'the decade you were embraced', because everyone sorta collectively agreed that it makes sense a vampire gets a bit locked into when they died. Who wasn't running that? Who was playing a Vampire that loved the 1930's but was embraced in 2010?

... actually one of my players did run that, but the point is that he didn't need a little sheet to say that, he just looked up a lot of 30's slang and described his character being dressed for the part. So it's triply retarded.

It's not a matter of it being stupid; Tzimisce are solidarity creatures that do their own thing and don't feel like they are beholden to other vampire rules. On top of that, they have their own inner society outside of every other kindred, with the whole revenant bloodline ghoul families that cater to all their whims and needs.

Where the fuck would a Tzimisce Camarilla come from? All of Tzimisce come from carefully planned siredoms with a child in a revenant family commune/estate that has been groomed and cultivated to be accustomed to the life and eventual embrace.
>>
>>98442419

>>
>>98442436
Tremere, Tzimisce & Lasombra players might powergame, but they powergame within the box. If they want an out of clan Discipline then theyre gonna have to work for it & they have some pretty significant Clan Weaknesses, that can be leveraged against the individual powergamer.

Caitiff can theoretically pick all the "best" disciplines. Like vicissitude, thaumaturgy & the like, all at once. They can cherrypick & if they can bluff & lie well, no one will no they're Caitiff, so no upfront downsides.

So the "Theoretical Caitiff" is a challenging type of power gamer to an poor or fledgeling ST, hence the general consensus of banning any Caitiff that is anything other than a mix of Physical Disciplines & maybe some Presence/Dominate.

Now from the player side, if youre a Caitiff that means you have no support structure, no on-group to give you safety, no tribe to fight for you on general principles & close ranks against outsiders. This is a huge deal in vampire society. Even gangrel stick together when they need to. It means your ST is gonna constantly fuck you over socially, making it much harder to play kindred politics, & on top of that, they will be much more wary of letting you pick an interesting Discipline, because they fear you powergaming, meanwhile the Tzimisce in the group picked "just one Out of Clan, tee hee" & is a suped up fleshmonster hiding in the shadows with Obtenebration, or maybe he picked up Serpentis & has Typhonic Maw.

So with just the unrealized fear of being able to cherry pick, Caitiff characters die on the vine most of the time. I think that sucks. I also go out of my way to add a Caitiff NPC to my games. Theyre rarely powerful. But I want to show players t hat its okay to have Caitiff around.

Never understood the devolution they wanted to go with in Outcasts. Those all scream Gangrel that lost its humanity to me, Protean/Animalism & their Curse gone wrong, not Caitiff falling apart. I do like the idea that Caitiff are vampirically adaptable. Like, if you shove a Caitiff in a bad position for long enough, they might develop a Discipline they didnt normally have access to without a teacher. Like if a Caitiff kept getting exposed to the sun & the elements they might develop enough Protean to protect themselves. If they had to hide in the shadows for long enough Obtenebration or Obfuscate would come bubbling uo to the surface unbidden. Or if they just kept getting their ass kicked they would naturally develop Fortitude. But even still it would be less "slug monster" or "bug thing" & more just a natural knowledge of the Blood changing to protect them.

There's a difference between a single midget "house" of Tremere Antitribu spurned by the rest of the clan being present in the Sabbat, and the Tremere being the #2 of the Camarilla. Would you really want to join a group run by your oldest rival, and seconded by the disgusting wizards who stole vampirism from your lineage? All so you can enjoy the perks of gossiping in a trendy night club while being forced to kowtow to some Prince?

>All of Tzimisce come from carefully planned siredoms with a child in a revenant family commune/estate that has been groomed and cultivated to be accustomed to the life and eventual embrace.
Why would you make such an easily falsifiable statement with such certainty? I don't understand. You don't even leave the door open by saying "It is my impression that..." or "Correct me if I'm wrong, but...?" or anything. You just flat-out state something so wrong that it just takes me aback.

Picture related. These were pretty much randomly chosen. Characters like what you describe do also exist, but they're in the minority.
>>
>>98443460
More broadly, the Tzimisce are presented as hardcore artfags that Embrace on the spot when moved emotionally. Maybe Old Clan does careful grooming, but most of the Tzimisce (including the actual older members of the Clan) are emotionally driven and fickle.
>>
>>98443354
This makes me not want all 13 clans in the v6 base book. Have all of the, like camarilla clans in the base book. Then do a sabbat expansion, and so on. I'm gonna assume I can mix and match all the options given to me in a single book. You're telling me that, out of how many vampires there are in the WHOLE WORLD, that camarilla Tzimisce number less than six? That's such a specifically small number it might as well be a hard rule against the concept all together.
>>
>>98443300
>The Tzimisce dont "select worthy mortals" for embrace. No such thing exists. Family name, education, and status remain considerations, but they are no longer the prerequisites you remember. The fiends pick mortals with the potential to do something great in undeath - to become a leader among their kind, tear down the Camarilla or uncover a new principal of metamorphosis. Fiends embrace for the same reasons other cainites do - companionship, assistance, prestige - but most of them require that spark, that predestined ego.

I understand that the older Tzimisce would be beholden to the Tremere rivalry, but I've always found the implication that more recently embraced ones would give a shit aside from paying lip service to their sires funny. And it just gets extra funny when the Sabbat has (or had) its own substantial and influential Tremere faction.

>>98443420
There's a difference for sure, but it's still fucking funny when the quote paints it as if the "very presence" of the Tremere is enough to make all the Tzimisce not want to be in the Camarilla, which doesn't really leave much room for interpretation regarding being pissed that they have too much influence or whatever - the mere presence is enough.

Meanwhile the Goratrix Tremere has (or had) a major Chantry in Mexico City, with the Tremere running most of the Sabbat's magic alongside the Lasombra abyssals, because the majority of the koldunic Tzimisce are loner loons that refuse to cooperate with anyone.
>>
>>98443460
While anon is wrong, I think he mixed up sabbat tzimisce with Old Clan tzimisce. The Old Clan koldunes genuinely doo spend decades grooming ghouled revenants into proper members of vampire society before embracing them.
This also means Old Clanners have a frankly rediculous amount of fiscipline dots even as neonates.

What do you think the split between shitposters trying to start an argument and simple newfag ignorance is? The "Old Clan" is pretty much a meme. It can refer to several, completely unrelated things. A vicissitude-free bloodline of the True Black Hand that hates all of the vicfags, apolitical old world elders of specifically the Carpathian brood, basically the remnants of the side that lost the Tzimisce civil war, and sometimes it's used to refer to Kolduns despite Koldunism not being exclusive to either of the two aforementioned groups.

It's easier to understand old world Tzimisce in terms of "broods" since they're so commonly geolocked due to their clan curse. Originally the "canon" Tzimisce broods were:
>The Carpathian Brood, which is the "stereotypical" Tzimisce everyone defaults to. Highest density of potent blood due to being so close to the Eldest's original resting place. Likes to LARP as nobles while delegating the actual responsibilities (what little there is) to revenants, loves spamming ghouls.

>The Greek Brood, sort of an offshoot of the Carpathian brood but formed its own identity. More concerned with the mystical and esoteric than dominating space, still a lot of hardcore metamorphosis types.

>The Sub-Saharan brood, or the Naglopers. Far less concerned with pretense than the Europeans, Naglopers wear their monstrousness openly and border on the pragmatic as far as Vicissitude is concerned. Enjoy terrorizing mortals as much as the Carpathian brood, but do it in a different style.

>The Indian brood. Very little is known about them, because like everything India not immediately related to the week of nightmares, it's a lore stub.

The decentralization and chaos of the Sabbat means a true "new world" brood hasn't really formed, meaning the "typical" Tzimisce these nights are something of a new beast compared to their ancestors.

>Where the fuck would a Tzimisce Camarilla come from?
I mean, all it takes is a single Tzimisce sire that's honest and not seethingly coping. I am not arguing for normalizing Camarilla Tzimisce, I am just saying that it is not beyond imagining.

Really, the biggest hurdle for Camarilla Tzimisce is encapsulated by one of the first lines in the second paragraph. The Tzimisce is largely defined not by how much loner they are or how angry they are over the Tremere, but by how inhuman they consider themselves, how much different or better. They are very transhumanist in their beliefs, their bloodline and practices and discipline compliments that, and they are more autistically arrogant than they are necessarily loners, which results in loner behavior, and they tend to embrace along these lines too.

Overall, it just makes for a spectacularly bad fit for the Camarilla, which for all its flaws is an incredibly "human" institution by cainite/kindred standards, and that deliberately try to make vampires embrace the masquerade and the act of "staying human". But with that streak of arrogance and individualism it isn't really that absurd that singular Tzimisce here and there would find their way into the Camarilla - I could even see some of them flaunt it as a "Look at me, I am overcoming myself and the limitations of my clan" as a dab on other seething members of their clan. Or something. Shit like that.
>>
>>98443581
One third grognards who genuinely believe the stereotype and try to push it on others, one third falseflaggers taking an obviously retarded stereotype and using it to shitpost, and one third fresh-faced newbies who assume that every clan is just what you see in Bloodlines.
>>
I like how vehemently against Camarilla Tzimisce the old writers were for a very simple reason. It forces people who want to make one to actually justify it, both to themselves and to the ST.

They allowed for official Lasombra Antitribu, and so no matter how much they stressed that Lasombra Antitribu were very rare, you had hordes of dipshits making Cammie Lasombra. Eventually, the V5 fags felt enabled to make them a core Camarilla clan.

It's not that I want there to never have been a Tzimisce Antitribu, it's that I want someone who makes one to actually justify the character, how they came to this place, and the overwhelming difficulties they're going to face as a result.

>Old Clan tzimisce
But Tzigger Oldfags doesn't really involve themselves in sect politics if they can avoid it, do they?

>>98443556
Yeah, but that's the Tremere, who doesn't do half the seething over the Tzimisce that the Tzimisce does over the Tremere. It's literally one of those
>In the Tzimisce we think that you Tremere are filthy usurpers that stole the blood of our blood in order to steal the gift of Caine, and that you all deserve to be purged for it, and we will never, ever forgive you. What do you Tremere think of the Tzimisce?
>We don't think of you at all.

>>98443563
In all fairness, the books sometimes do tend to make these sweeping statements too, especially in regards to clan loyalties, only to walk it back much later and complicate things because vampire society is a web of personal loyalties and individual wills rather than monoliths, even though the sweeping descriptions always describe each clan as a monolith. It's honestly a bit jarring.

The Lasombra is called the heart of the Sabbat, but I bet most people have no idea that Giangaleazzo, the Archbishop of Milan, got tired of the basic bullshit of the Sabbat, invited almost all of them to a party, locked the doors and set it all on fire, after which he defected and became a Prince of the Camarilla, making all of Milan a domain of the Camarilla, which is analogous to the Sabbat losing Mexico City in America, with Milan being the city where the Sabbat was fucking formed.

And the Lasombra is far less individualistic than the Tzimisce, with a clan structure and leadership that rivals the Tremere.

The weird part is that there already were Tzimisce Antitribu, because that's what sabbat Tzimisce ARE.
The sabbat Tzimisce are the antitribu of the Old Clan. The proper "sect" for proper Tzimisce is "Independant".

Not quite. Pentex is like the greatest hits of all the other villains in one place. >It's not that I want there to never have been a Tzimisce Antitribu, it's that I want someone who makes one to actually justify the character, how they came to this place, and the overwhelming difficulties they're going to face as a result.
And that, this part right here, I can 100% agree with. The Tzimisce and Lasombra should be treated as the extreme outliers that they are, and their presence in the Camarilla should always have to be justified, and any such presence should either be hidden or flaunted - there is no middle road, because everyone will know that this is fucking abnormal.

I want to run (play, really, but I have relented and decided that I will have to settle for running, because no-one else will ever run the exact game I want to play) a game that is deliberately set in a shit-show where non-standard loyalties and bloodlines are allowed, and I'm *still* going to need a good explanation for Lasombra/Tzimisce.
>>
>>98443690
It's a fustercluck. Everyone who uses it (True Black Hand Bloodline, Carpathian Oldheads, etc) is basically making an appeal to being the "original" Tzimisce. However dubious.
>>
>>98443702
Yes, but the Eldest is a big proponent of being an inhuman monster and using Fleshwarping to surpass mortal limitations and ascend to divinity. It's really his entire identity, even, and you can't get more Old Clan Tzimisce than Tzimisce the Eldest, founder of the Clan.

>>
>>98443690
Because the Sabbat Tziggers were described first. That's genuinely it. It only makes sense as a term for the original clan members from the perspective of the Sabbat Tzimisce.

The Old Clan itself should probably (I am speculating) refer to the Sabbat Tzimisce as the Tzimisce Anarchs, but I think that would get intensely confusing to a lot of people very quickly. The "Old Clan" are just the ones that did NOT join the Anarch Revolt or participate in the supposed killing of the Tzimisce Antediluvian.

Which is, by the way, the reason why the Tzimisce and the Lasombra came to lead the Anarch Revolt and then the Sabbat that it became after the majority of the Anarchs joined the Camarilla (and became the Anarch Movement within the Camarilla) at the Convention of Thorns - the Lasombra and the Tzimisce were the two clans that (allegedly) killed their own antediluvians, which endowed them with enough big dick energy to take command, and the reason they are still in command today.

Yeah King Tzigger is the ultimate fleshfreak. Which makes the Tal'mahe'ra Bloodline's claim incredibly dubious. I guess the handful of eastern european elders have something of a claim to it, given how they're the remnants of the side that lost the Tzigger Civil War.

The way I see it. Clans should break down like this

Cam
>Ventrue
>Tremere
>Toreador
>Brujah
>Nosferatu
>Malkavian

Sabbat
>Lasombra
>Salubri
>Antitrubu of all Clans

Independents
>Tzimisce
>Gangrel
>Giovanni
>Ravnos
>Assamites

I would want to go so far as to call the Sabbat Tzimisce despite being numerous in the Sabbat to be largely Antitribu to the majority of the Tzimisce Clan who really & truly just sit it out doing spooky weird shit away from people, surrounded by inbred ghouls
>>
>>98443694
A Lasombra Camarilla is actually fairly easy to justify. Montano and his childer Malaii aligned themselves with the camarilla. All you really have to do is say youre descended from one of them.
>>
>>98443709
I don't want to wait for more lore. I want them to stop making lore for their slop setting. If the Giovanni just "took over" the Hecata makes even less sense than it ever did (it made no sense to begin with), and the constituent bloodlines are, what, just fucking gone? Because if they're not gone, then it's still not just the Giovanni, and if they're actually gone, all this whole retard backflip lore has done is double-kill the Cappadocians and also for some reason the Nagaraja even though they never had anything to do with the Giovanni or the Cappadocians to even begin with.

And if they all just fled into the night, it still again begs the question as to what the fucking point was.

It just keeps going, I can think of more and more issues every second I'm even contemplating the abortion that is gWoD.

I always assume that was to make sure the caitiffs don't check out of vampire society if everyone was trying to hunt you and what not. Being able to learn disciplines cheaper overall is not worth being killed on sight. But a smart player just doesn't try to get entrenched in vampire politics. If you're a low generation caitiff i'm not sure if it's worse, because often you won't have the depth to give you solid protection.

You can pretend to be just a vampire and do alright, but auspex, path of blood, and other powers make it pretty easy to figure out you're a caitiff. So, if you could just not deal with vampire politics and fuck off into the wilderness without getting eaten by werewolves and Gangrels? That's just another reason to force you to play with others. That or they just wanted to give a stealth weakness to caitiffs.

Because they are tired of their faggotry. They don't really know about wyrm corruption or whatever at the Syndicate, but they know that Reality Deviants CONSTANTLY attack them and so whatever they are doing is clearly fucking wrong. Better set up alternatives that cause no reality deviance, even if we have no idea what causes the increased incidence of "lycanthrope events" in the first place.
