would a Duskmourn x Innistrad set work? Gothic Horror versus Analog Horror, Valgavoth taking on Emrakul(?)
I am gonam buy the marvel value pack
>>98437310If they cut the 80s shit out of Duskmourn sure. I fucking love the lore of Marina Vendrell and Valgavoth and it was the one thing that made an entire plane being 1 haunted house actually work for me. I want to see more of them, I want more Rooms and enchantment support. But I want less cheerleaders and Sony Walkmans
>>98437313>UBtard can't spellTo no one's surprise
>>98437321Agreed. Duskmourn would have been a good set if they didn't put the anachronistic modern day bullshit in it.
>>98437292My turn 5 win with my voltron tin street krenko deck turning into a game loss in one fell swoop from a rakdos charm
>>98437491100%, yeah. I still enjoyed prerelease by completely ignoring all the moderb crap, but every time I pulled one, it was accompanied by a heavy sign or a laugh of disbelief. Fucking chainsaw.
>>98437310>Valgavoth invades Innistrad>locals shrug, say "another one of those days I guess" and go about their businessIf anything it'd be a net positive for them since they'd get access to more advanced technology.
>>98437292>What's the most memorable moment you have from playing this nightmare of a game, anon?Probably the time I played a game of Pauper where the back and forth was so intense I ended up winning the turn before I decked myself. It was such a good moment I ended up taking a picture to memorialize it.
>>98439062>no UB threadwhoops, my bad folks. Thought this was the regular MTG general. Ignore the loriens I guess.
>>98438514Fuck my life into pieces
These Mystery Booster Commander cards look so dumb. The "rulebreaker" text doesn't actually break any rules it's just templating for things that already exist.Like the otter lets you add instants and sorceries of 1 other color to your deck. but that's literally just Partner without having a 2nd commander to castAnd the angel lets you play angels of any color even though it's monowhite, but they could do the exact same thing if they put WUBRG in the text box
>>98441519
>>98444878I guess it's a way to make the card playable in the 99/59, cause if they all had wubrg, they'd only be playable in wubrg decks.
>>98444941Yeah they could have changed the rules for the draft but whatever.I'm more annoyed that there's 2 cards that are in the set that are exactly what I want. One is fine, no real complaints. The other though is exactly what I want and they went and made it fucking monored. I already have a monored deck and monored is really bad colors for what this new card is doing so I'm genuinely torn about whether to build it.In any case, the fact that these are all gonna be like $10 and unobtainable for a while due to limited supply pisses me off
>>98445108It's pretty upsetting that the seemingly "gift to fans" set is a limited event exclusive set, definitely. Like they couldn't convince Hasbro that existing fans actually wanted a new Commander Legends set filled with tribal dudes that don't have any commanders and referenced characters without cards. A love letter to lore fans abd smoothbrained tribalshitters alike. And yeah, I saw that girl too and was saddened that shit didn't have other colors or some rulebreaker thing going on.
>>98445201>I saw that girl too and was saddened that shit didn't have other colors or some rulebreaker thing going on.You have no idea man. I have wanted a well themed puppet commander for fucking ever. The options are surprisingly limited. I need it to be themed around puppets and be about controlling other players or permanents. No option has ever had both. Then the monkey's paw curls and I get this shit. She's clearly part of the fucking rakdos cult too, and her flavor text references a rakdos enchantment. The more I think about it the madder I get
>>98445307It's much more of a blue+red thing since red threatens and blue steals. Not much with regards to puppet members, though, but you can always proxy for theme.
>>98445548Black has a few cards that change control of thing, like Blim. There's also that Jasper guy from OTJ that makes creatures you control but don't own into mercenaries. I don't think there's a single good reason she couldn't be rakdos. The sad thing is she probably just goes in the 99 of better commanders. I'm toying with a decklist now and there's just nothing coherent I can make happen with it. Not knowing what triggered abilities you will even have to copy as you play her (if any at all) really sucks. And red isn't good at giving all your creatures triggered abilities like some other colors can. The best I can come up with is that you just play every variation of Fling, steal your opponents creatures with "until end of turn" red theft spells, and then sac them for value instead of giving them back. But even then, that would fit rakdos so much better than monored.>you can always proxy for theme.I don't proxy, and even if I did what would be the point? There's a different feel to an official WotC card. Anyone at any time could proxy their own spin on Secret Lair, but they don't, they pay out the ass for WotC to do an OFFICIAL proxy.
>>98445577Anyone at any time could proxy their own spin on Secret Lair, but they don'tI do.
>>98445647Year of autism diagnosis?
>>98445649Borderline, but no.
>>98445658I hereby diagnose you
>>98445577>There's a different feel to an official WotC card.I am sure you are genuinely gay enough to truly believe this over 10 years into literally no new cards feeling like real Magic cards.
>>98445723>over 10 years into literally no new cards feeling like real Magic cards.Save the histrionics for women, anon
>>98445758To be fair, somewhere around the starter commander precons, half the magic cards they make since feel wierdly course.
Platinum Angel got an upgrade
>>98447020Nah it's as overrated as platinum angel though. I have never seen a real (non youtube game) where someone being unable to win or lose made a difference. And for 9 mana that shit is going to feel reeeeeal bad when it gets StP'd or bounced to hand
>>98444878propably prepping us up for the hybrid change>>98445201oh yeah this not retail. thankfully like 90% of this is tribal shit but yeah some of this shit is gonna be expensive thanks to wotc's infinite greed to print unique cards in limited releases
>>98437292>What's the most memorable moment you have from playing this nightmare of a game, anon? When a guy at my LGS was opening his prize packs and throwing out the trash, he threw away a Shaman of the Great Hunt (intentionally; he commented on how shit it was). I had been wanting one for my shitty Mardu tokens deck (I was a kid at the time my deckbuilding was ass) so I took it out of the cardboard bin. Guy walks up behind me, takes it off the table, goes 'Hey I didn't say you could have MY card!' and tears it in half in front of me. I start crying like an autstic little bitch, he gets like a 6 month ban from the LGS.And before you ask yes, he did play Esper control in RtR followed by some other control shit in Khans block forget what the best variant was in Khans. Quintissential That Guy.
>>98439068since you did something kino I think it can slide.
>>98448199I'm sorry that happened to you anon, I hope you got your Shaman of the Great huntThat reminds me of a more positive story I had last year though>LGS gives you a "free" pack with table rent>guy cracks Aetherdrift>pretty common practice if you don't want anything you let the rest of the pod take a look>I pick it up>Bleachbone Verge>uh hey you probably don't want to get rid of this>"nah they're not worth that much right?">uh depends what you mean by "much"...about €8?>he looks it up>"huh yeah I'll keep it"Felt like my good dead of the day. I did want a copy, I wouldn't have lied about it but there's still that part of my brain that just goes "you had it, it was in your hands, it was free"But it matters to me more to be honest I guess
>MBC looks like the most anticipated cards of the year>it's all in-universe>Hasbro will still absolutely lie to the shareholders just like they did about people trying to vote with their wallets by buying more in-universe sets
>>98453238They don't have to lie because stock is so incredibly limited. They can also blame it on being commander-centric rather than it being in-universe.Shit sucks.
Imma build this guy, wish me luck
>>98457782you have some gimmick or are you just running generic exile effects?
>>98458760I don't like theft, but this could be fun for theft with a bit of chaos.Maybe run some Shifting Grift, Share the Spoils, maybe even Blim, just make everyone swap cards as much as I can.Afaik the previous theft options in grixis were pseudo-tribal. The pirate guy or the vampire woman
>>98457782Sadly there aren't too many cards that exile without already stealing themselves.
>>98437292lol I just proxy all my UB cards and slap whatever fantasy art I think Is cool onto them problem solved.
>>98459347You shoukd do some research and make them proper in-universe cards :^)
>>98457782so "clown" is its own species/race? like goblin, zombie or angel.Wouldn't it make more sense if it were like a class? Similar to warrior, soldier, rogue or cleric?
>>98459330No so.I can also think of off the top of my head Necromentia and Dispossess. There's an equivalent to them which does creatures, but literally 3 mana search your opponents libraries lol>>98459395Who fucking knows. Advisor and Ally weren't a problem for you?
>>98459880eh... I've been out of the games for decades. I played from 8th edition to 10th edition included. I just like to browse these threads and look at cards from time to time. But if I remember correctly ally and advisors were "class" and the creature were always human or something else
>>98460015In ye olden days their species wasn't a type
>>98460064yes, but they soon adapted it and changed it, the card you posted is now technically Creature – Human Rebel as per the rules.in a 2026 card, having "clown" as its own specie is a deliberate choice
>>98458912>make everyone swap cards as much as I canI built the new gonti just for that. I still haven't mastered to win with a strat like that yet altho I enjoy them trying to keep track of multiple piles of cards just to tax them mentally
>>98460335>I still haven't mastered to win with a strat like that yetI'm gonna dig for my opponents wincons with Jester
>>98460344godspeed
>>98460064Human as a creature type was one of the big mistakes of the game tbqh
>>98459395>>98460087It doesn't look quite human. You're right they should have picked a better species to represent it than using clown which would commonly be viewed as a class.
>>98445647I do this but UBs of UBs

>>98467013If she was a visually interesting old lady I probably wouldn't bother, but she's fat, oldish, ugly, and boring, so just nothing appealing at all. Also Tawnos is a cool dude.
>>98447020Goes great in my angels deck!Platinum angel is one of my all time favorite cards, just because it's so cool, and darksteel is one of my favorite concepts, so I'm happy to see them combined.

I was sketching more custom tokens for brenard food golems. is snake milk too raunchy?

just a couple left. what would be a good portal manipulator token? all I can think of is pic rel
>>98483153I don't get it.
>>98483153
>>98483934this was another but it's not a creature>>98483930idk he is manipulating his portal food comes out of. it's a stretch and that's why I want to replace it
>>98483934A, the block itself doesn't have momentum
>>98484100It could be a creature.
Why does nobody play this card? It's like 20 cents but it would be a good finisher in dozens of decks, especially token decks like Adrix and Nev
>>98487284It's green and blue. Also all of my decks are just engine builders, so having all of my creature be the same creature would not be good, outside of a couple of them like Blood Avatar, but that's not in-color
>>98487555I mean, there's a reason most copy spells either make you choose a non-legendary or simply do not say the copy is non-legendary so you have to make it non-legendary some other way.Sure a big part of copy spells can be the ETB, but there's tons of legendaries that become busted when there's more than one of them on the fieldSimic in particular fucking loves copies. But you could be running it in 4 and 5 color decks anyway
>>98487617I imagine part of the reason is also that it's the back of the card, and people don'tget that far.For me I have no deck, non, that would both benefit from it and has both colors for it, and I have a LOT of decks. There are definitely decks that could benefit from it, though, yeah.
>>98487284what the other anon said. I have exactly one deck that has blue and green (with black) and it doesn't really want everything being the same creature altho the effect is nice. I feel there needs to be a more specific reason to run this over say, a single non-legend clone that is more versatile since it stays aroundI'd even go as far as to say this side of the spell is a "win more" because it does nothing for a good while after a boardwipe
Guys I really miss set blocks. They didn't all have to be 3 blocks. Two was fine, and you can always throw in a spicy one block set now and then, but overall I miss them.
>>98488422>>98488623I'd put it in this for a start. >all my creatures are now a copy of the best legendary on the board>this side of the spell is a "win more" because it does nothing for a good while after a boardwipeI could accept not seeing its strength but this is a dumb statement. Thousands of cards do nothing after a board wipe. And you're in some of the best colors for casting creatures and making tokens, so it's not like it would take much to rebuild a board
>>98489759You wouod indeed put the clone effect in a clone deck, yes.You are right, it is a game ender and I suppose is underplayed (I don't have the stats) for the decks it does go in, but it really doesn't go in most decks that have UG. Would be huge in WU.
>>98437345>using UB memes
>>98490168>You wouod indeed put the clone effect in a clone deck, yes.You would also put in token decks which was also what I said
>>98489759that's the sultai deck I have too and the reason I don't have the spell in my deck is because I have noticed I almost never have more than 3 other creatures on board before getting got after protection, recursion and what not. this is because I don't create tokens but rather play creatures with effects I want to clone and that is slow. so as my commander already does the clone effect I don't REALLY need another card like that, let alone a version that clones legends to make a board "full" of volraths if that's the best legend. it would be what, like 4 or so -1/-1 counters and then I have to have more mana to make them something useful to make someone dead on that turn.all this to say you should run the spell if you are churning out a lot of tokens, yeah
>>98490703Are you running quasiduplicate and cackling counterpart? You should be
>>98490703>let alone a version that clones legends to make a board "full" of volraths if that's the best legend. it would be what, like 4 or so -1/-1 counters and then I have to have more mana to make them something usefulDidn't even catch this retardationBuddy you use 1 Volrath to copy something else, and then because that's a creature you control all your creatures become a copy of that, instead of making multiple Volraths and then having each of them use their ability??? Tf you even talking about
>>98490736not cackling anymore because the flashback is simply too expensive these days but used to have both>>98490748you see, these are the kinds of hoops my deck is not equipped to jump through, on top of the one extra mana and many more creatures instead of just one or two, the og volrath now needs to put the counter on something. this means going to combat so you can only cast the clone spell on second main or next turn, both too late. and if you are putting counters on useful stuff without him that's another card to this already 3+ card combo which is too fragile I feel. especially without a lot of tokenswhat I do run is naga flescrafter tho
>>98490847>he og volrath now needs to put the counter on something. Not if it's already there, and fortunately earlier in the year you got a set with an entire subtheme about -1/-1 counters and a -1/-1 counter preconLook man you're obviously the kind of guy who just enjoys inventing hurdles to allow you to keep on living exactly as you already are- it's fine, but just don't bother replying
>>98490897idk about the hostility but I feel you didn't read the reply fully as you ignored the need of even more cards to make the clone spell worth it. what comes to your new precon argument you enjoy inventing, there were like 2 new cards that do the whole counter placing thing and arguably only the reanimator is potentially a spell that could bring back creatures worth cloning. also it doesn't make the amount of cards any fewer to execute all this.if you feel like running away from reasons people are not playing the spell, it's fine too.
>>98490689If your token deck ran enough big boys to justify it, sure.
>you don't need an unlimited hand size, just keep the best 7 and discard the rest!I hate this advice so much and it always comes from oldheadsIt's retarded. That's not how cards work. There is no objectively "best 7" cards in a hand, it's a collection of various cards for various situations. Even something as simple as how many lands is a good idea to keep can change from moment to moment. And then there's situations where you keep the "best 7" for the time, and then the game changes and you wish you'd kept something else.I WILL be playing Reliquary Tower and Thought Vessel in every deck
>>98493019>I WILL be playing Reliquary Tower and Thought Vessel in every deckIf you aren't fairly consistantly needing it, there's not much of an argument for having it. If you don't ever need it in a game Reliquary Tower is a Wastes and Thought Vessel is the worst 2-drop mana rock that comes into play untapped. If your deck can handle that, that's fine, but +3-color decks really, really shouldn't. Even 2-color decks, honestly.Having them in your deck without a moderately consistant way to use them is like putting an enchantment boardwipe in your deck, it's just too specific to be useful 99% of the time.
>>98482273I’m so thankful for the trans people in this community, I didn’t think any other enlightened girlies hated universes beyond and loved furries as much as I do. I love you.
>>98493060I don't need a reason other than the fact I want an unlimited hand size.Maybe I get lucky and draw a lot, maybe someone plays group hug and I draw a lot, maybe they're trying to mill me out by draw. In any case versatility is valuable in this game and having more cards in hand makes me more versatile>+3-color decks really, really shouldn't. Even 2-color decks, honestly. If a couple colorless sources in your deck make it unplayable that's not the fault of those sources, you aren't running enough ramp and fixing
>>98493158>maybe maybe maybeOr maybe none of those and they do nothing, as is very often the case.>if it makes your deck unplayableNo one is saying this, but a colorless source with zero utility will make your deck worse. Not unplayable, but worse, certainly. You do you, man. Run your Temple of the False God too. None of them will ruin your decks, they will just make them worse.
>>98437321>>98437491>>98438514This is a good idea for a CUBE. Demonic/Horror cube
>>98493302>Or maybe none of those and they do nothing, as is very often the case.Need it and not have it etc etc etc>a colorless source with zero utility will make your deck worseLike Sol Ring??? >Run your Temple of the False God too.No see the difference there is TotFG taps for NOTHING if you don't have 5 lands
>>98493369>like sol ringThat'a hevay mana acceleration, but actually yes, don't run sol rong, not because it's weak but because it's strong.
How would you guys feel about a cube league? Are there any sims that would be good for this? How is untap.in?Post what kinds of cards/packages you think would be cool.
>>98496146I love draft even though I'm relatively shit at it, so a cube league sounds great.I'd love to see blocks, like a few sets from the same plane, or from the same storyline. My only experiance beyond fiddling around with shit by myself is in TTS, so I couldn't speak on anything else.
>>98496146Maybe following specific events or groups, like the Keldon.Or something like an anon previously mentioned, removing the trash from a setting like on Duskmorne.
>>98496146Limit it to <M15.
>>98496146Is there a site that resolves shit for you like Arena? I'd play but not if I have to get on mic and read cards aloud and rely on manual input to resolve correctly
>>98497826Do you exclusively play Arena? Cause that's exactly how in person mtg is played. My only issue with it being in a program is if the UI fights you to do things.
>>98498516>Do you exclusively play Arena? I don't even play Arena>Cause that's exactly how in person mtg is played.Yeah no fucking shit, if I'm playing online I want to take advantage of the technology and not have it played exactly like in person but now with the added disadvantage of having to wrangle something like TTS's jank-ass controlsI played Yugioh and Keyforge on unofficial clients and even they could automate card effects, it's not much to ask for
>>98498683I think the closest that we have outside of Arena and maybe MTGO (not sure, never used it) is FORGE, which is actually part automated player and part whole singleplayer videogame. I think it does work, but I haven't touched it in a long while. I think you can evem run drafts with it, but I'm not sure as I've never tried.>>98496146Maybe look into FORGE.
