Anything odd or great about the community/culture of your LGS?

Same as the rest. Fat retards who don't shower populate the store, you get the average gamer dads in which range from obnoxious or pleasant.

I really wish people were normal.

Can someone share all of the ForgeWorld books published in PDF form please?

>>98441576

Haven't been to the LGS enough to see what the community is like, but it generally seems friendly. Saw some terrain that had some effort put into them to be coloured so that is a decent sign.

Did collage anon come to any ruling about the "game" part of the collage? Is it just ork corpses vs space marine corpses, or xenos and imperium corpses in general that count for the score? Do space wolves not count for the score?

>Mythology typically depicted giants as man-eating sociopathic monsters
>Emperor of Mankind has to decide what to make his superhuman race

Yea the few obsessors have rigged the game, just don't participate and wait until we replace the monthly collage manager.
>>
How close in size is the new Land Speeder to the old ones? I've got a couple of the old ones laying around, I could just take the missile pods off one and attach it to the one withe the assault cannon and it would have the same weapon loadout. But how close in size are they?
>>
>>98441622
You hate LGS owners that much?
>>
>>98441576
>TQ
There's this cult of personality around this clique of four 40k players. They pass around pretty much any girl that goes to or works at the LGS, have pull with the employees, and can ice you out of LGS. They even fuck with the MTG players, even though they only play 40k. Been shopping around for a new LGS because I somehow ended up on the tsons player's shit list and he's been trying to make my life difficult
>>
>>98441614
The idea is (I think) that there's a little game of counting the dead orks and space marines on people's submission to see which team wins. I don't know if that's part of what collage anon is doing, or if he's just doing the theme without the game.
People were also talking about the space wolves being a neutral army for the game, mostly so that this collage doesn't end up having a bunch of total SWigger death submissions.
>>98441622
The next collage manager's going to continue the tradition of permanently banning you from participating, anon.
Furthermore it's retarded that you're calling it rigged when most of the people who wanted it supported the idea of putting a rule in place specifically to prevent """your""" army from becoming the punching bag of the month again.

>Was the Emperor the source of humanity's mythology of giants?
How was he the source when hes just continuing a tradition that long predates him?
>>
>>98441637
The retarded chicken legged faggots fit the original fun crazy vibe of the setting perfectly though and are also more varied and interesting.
It also harkens back to the Martians from War of the Worlds and their tripods. Now I want a giant tripod mech

The Secutarii Axarch is cool sure but he's also just a human in a trench coat, I don't want the whole setting to be humanoids with extremely minor greeble differences, I want interesting varied stuff

It's a shame fags have coopted the stilt bois because they're a funny idea

I'm feeling the temptation to do marine-on-marine violence for my collage submission bros. the eliminators kit has nicely-posed models, and the bolt pistol looks cool as fuck. It'd just be a little scenic piece of a sneaky sniper, unaware of a sneakier sniper about to kill him with a bolt pistol and then take his position.

The experience with mine is fine, I haven't been there long enough to notice any off putting characters come through the doors yet. Pretty good. I live rural so we have a few farmers (including myself but I only have a hobby farm as opposed to a huge professional farm setup) mixed in with the average nerd types who frequent a game store. Less BO smell, more animal and manure smells that literally never leave them because no matter how much you wash yourself the smells are just in your clothing, even when it's clean. Still preferable to BO, ironically. IIRC a good chunk of the 40k guys also all go to the same church, which is how most of them got into it.

Depends on the kit;
Used by Chaos forces: Absolutely not, they are considered dangerous and corrupting to handle, because they are.
Used by Xenos: Keep it out of sight. Not considered actively harmful like above, but using it would be seen by most as a weakening in your faith to the Imperial Creed. A Xeno pistol is an abomination of technology forged by filthy hands that you have a duty to dispose of, but it's still a weapon you can use in a pinch.
Used by humans that are not explicitly chaos-aligned: Free game.

>>98441935
5th Edition? Unfortunately I don't know BTs for shit but it was nice to get flashbanged by this. The only issues I would consider are how to get your Terminators out of the open and into combat before getting lmao'd by gunfire even if they deep strike, and your lack of movement & range. Best I can tell the plan is for your army to move forward as a battering ram and make it the enemy's problem, does that track? The biggest issue for you is going to be someone happy to sit back and shoot.
>>
>>98441965
Yeah basically, and the plan for the terminators was just to deep strike somewhere they'd cause problems, I've got the land speeder to range ahead and cause some trouble up close too. This is for fourth.
>>
>>98441939
I guess picking up a tau pulse rifle wouldn't be super kosher then. Maybe if you were cut off from supplies somewhere in Imperium nihilus

Wrong. GSC being a fusion of a modern cult and Lovecrafts Deep Ones that are unknowingly calling to the Tyranid hivefleets, the one true lovecraftian faction in 40k is genius.
GSC disconnected from the Tyranids are just alien hybrids, sculking in the shadows, becaming a larger and larger percent of the total population with each generation. The cults day comes, they use their control over large parts of society to overthrows the world and destory governments....to do what?
Without unknowingly weakning a world from a Tyranid invasion then there wouldn't need to be a day of uprising, they would just say in the shadows forever and keep increasing like the parasites they are.

You know what could be cool? A null/blank Tyranid monster
>But it would be disconnected from the hivemind
Correct
>It would attack other nid organisms and be attacked by them
Hivemind could make them not attack the blank tyranid.
>How would it even exist
Blanks can be born like psykers, so they're biological so the hivefleet fires and egg before it hatches and it gestates planetside before hatching
>What would be the use
A tyranid version of an eversor assassin but for a niche situation of the enemy being a bunch of psykers. Like attack the Grey Knights at Titan for example.
A mindless berserker tyranid beast that is a null. I think it can work both in fluff and in game

The stress reaction/losing your mind from darkest dungeon is also how psykers should react when they feel the tyranid blank coming towards them.

because the method used to prepaint the plastic cannot reach the parts of the sprue that don't directly face the front or back, which is why it's ideal for the flattest things possible, but not for any bit that requires any sort of tridimentionality, because then you'd have to personally retouch all the areas of the bits that were facing towards the sprue frames

If eldarifags were in charge of the lore we'd have lone eldar guardians soloing armies of guardsmen, craftworlds would never be attacked because the eldar would see any attack coming from 100 years before it happened and they'd attack the enemy first and the avatar of khaine would never lose a fight and instead have killed the Emperor, all the primarchs and Calgar.
>>
>>98442629
It would be pretty cool if they killed Calgar though.

the reason they keep getting invaded is because they're one of the only locations eldar actually have. so when a writer wants to do a story about eldar as the target of invasions, its pretty much craftworld or bust.

Because gw sells more codexes when they're accompanied by a pity model, and they sell pity models better when they're accompanied by a codex, so at least one release per codex has become an obligatory step of every edition.

They grab the pity models from leftover assets from previous waves, test sculpts from prospective hires, or just whatever a sculptor fancies that specific evening.
Pity heroes in most cases are MANDATED to be "more of the same" instead of proposing new and interesting concepts because those are specifically held back for bigger flashier waves, or ones that accompany a narrative book.

The Kyn of the votann are fleshy and metal manifestations of their AI, like ants in a colony.

The Iron Men don't need to rebel, they're already running the show as the leaders and gods of the Votann Kin.

Votann society is what happens when the men of iron win. A gestalt robot overlord makes more robots with distinct roles and continues to manufacture biological humans but tailored to the needs of their society and only using pre-eatablished patterns from the clone skeins and their entire society is built around maximizing manufacturing output.
>>
>>98442829
>because the Votann can no longer run their society without these machines controlling them which are breaking down and will leave them utterly fucked when they're gone.
Necromundian squats already confirm they can keep existing without the cloning machines and the supercomputer directing them, they're not in a better state than their PC-master race cousins, but they're still in a better state than most humans.

What you won't find is supercomputers existing alone without squats on the other hand, so even if the votann computers are running the show, they are somehow more vulnerable than, and dependent on, their flesh puppets.

One possibility is that since the big machines act as psychic beacons for FTL navigation, and also eat the dead votann, it might be that eating the souls of fleshbags is the one and only way a robotic empire like theirs can stay interstellar.
>>
>>98442840
>is part of the design of the DAoT humans who created both.
The same guys who got shat all over by the Men of Iron, yes.

>>
>>98442840
>New Votann cores are being born/created. It's rare, but it happens.
Not him, but it's not just rare, it's entirely random too.
How it's described is that some Iron Kin will just start becoming more sentient or something and it eventually starts to like modify/turning itself into an ancestor core.
How that happens or what triggers it is entirely unknown and it probably is just random.
So yes, they can make new cores, but can't really force it to happen.
>>
>>98442861
>they can keep existing
There's like what 1000? Of them on Necromunda, and they live a ramshackle existence dependent on the Imperium hive city - which is not powered by a Votann core - to survive.

If your choice is "The Imperium way of doing things" or "the Votann way of doing things" and your best example is a Votann diaspora on an Imperium world that says something.

The Votann also rely on the power and size of the Imperium to shield it from the many hostile xenos in the galaxy

If the reliance on AI way was in charge of running the Imperium, it might do better against Chaos in the early days but it would have collapsed by this point against Tyranids

> they're already running the show as the leaders and gods of the Votann Kin.
The Votann don't actually govern the Kin, they just create cloneskeins and absorb their memories when they die. The Kin govern themselves. It's in fact considered extremely unusual if an Ironkyn is placed in a leadership position, since there's only one legend of that ever happening in their entire history.
>If anything it's shown the Imperium angle is 199% correct, because the Votann can no longer run their society without these machines controlling them which are breaking down and will leave them utterly fucked when they're gone.
There are Leagues that have zero Votann Cores and manage just fine. The difference is lacking a main archive of technology and something that can rapidly clone new, augmented Kin.

leagues without a core are described as declining. The necromunda squats are basically on a vision quest to recover their lost core, hidden somewhere on necromunda, and otherwise lost.

They've managed just fine for 4,000 years without their Votann, still doing the same things they were doing before then, mining for good ore and building atmospheric stabilizers to keep the planet going a little longer, and all that. They've even started to re-innovate and recover some of the tech they lost when their Votann got sucked down by the earthquake.

For regular 40k armies.
In necromunda you buy juves, gangers, their equipment, etc. Similar shit in mordheim.

Now imagine, instead of buying a single model with a gun, you buy a mob of boyz.

You just take the formula of "build and manage your dudes through an ever shifting campaign", but apply it to an army rather than a gang.

nta, but I do wish Kill team was more flexible in what you could bring.
My understanding is that you're constrained to a list of legal units for your faction, and at the end of the day it's still the same dull as hell point capture shit.
I want something like Battle For Macragge, where there's a single VIP model against waves of the opponent's chaff, super simple, helps new players learn the game in a low stakes first round, where the VIP model player wins if they reach the specified edge of the battlefield, and the opposing chaff player wins if they kill them.
There's a whole series of escalating levels of model intensity, that could each themselves be the foundation for a Kill Team style homebrew.

I think there's a place for a simple beginner module for 40k where players can get started playing, even if one player has only painted their first character model, and the other only has a box of cannon fodder.

>The kin are extremely jewish and it's doubtful theyj ust let people 'join' them for free.
As long as a Kindred proves itself useful, most Leagues have no problem with them joining. The harder part is leaving. Once you're bound by oath, that oath is expected to endure unless the League starts treating its Kindreds poorly (which would be the League breaking its oath to its Kindreds).
>They live on fucking necromunda
>That is not fine
They're pretty much the only people on Necromunda who are still thriving in spite of Necromunda being a dead world. Their treaty with Lord Helmawr means they get preferred diplomatic status in negotiations with the Guilds and Noble Houses, they have the planet's tithe grade by the balls being the only group that can still mine new, high quality ore from the mantle since the crust's ore deposits are all depleted, and except for Jardlan getting raped by Malstrains sneaking in the back door (it's rebuilding now though), the Ironhead Holds are basically unassailable fortresses that even the gangs know better not to try raiding.

>The reason being in the Galactic Core works is because the Imperium is currently taking a lot of the heat off the Votann from the Dark Eldar, Chaos, Tyranids, Necrons, Orks etc.
The votann hang out in the galactic core specifically because it is a inhospitable shithole by galaxy standards. All the gravitic anomalies, supernovas, and other astronomic events and goings on in the core make it too harsh of an environment for other factions to want bother going there. Orks obviously still manage because you know, they are orks.
The Squats/Votann manage it by having more advanced tech and by being naturally hardy. It's the reason why some squats have rock like skin, it's an adaptation from the cores making the Kin being able to survive better.
The votann also like to hang out in the core because of all the gravitic anomalies and other things, that make the core inhospitable to most life, are why it is so mineral rich and makes the area a very rich ground for all sorts of raw materials, ore and minerals squats like mine.

Do you think we will have the same amount of granularity that Space marines have but for xenos? Like some space marine chapters even have their own codexes with rules. I don't think any Necron Dynasty has a ruleset. I don't think any Tau faction does either. I don't think Tyranids do etc. So right now most Xeno factions are one ruleset. Why is it that space marines have differing rulesets?

These include weapon specifications, military theory, genealogical data, science, philosophy, and even Standard Template Constructs.
I can tell you haven't read the Votann codex because you're posting random shit that has nothing to do with the actual government of the Leagues. Hearthworlds and Holds are governed by the Hearth Councils, made up of the most elite guild leaders and Kahls. Most Hearthworlds and Holds do not have a Votann. It is true that sometimes the Councils will go to the Votann or a Fane and ask for advice for difficult problems, but the Votann Cores themselves do not have any interest in ruling the Kin, only in creating and assisting them.
>A relatively young League, it was founded less than a millennium ago when the Fane of Kôrynn's Kindred achieved self-awareness. This newly ascended Ancestor Core exhibited an aggressive drive for knowledge and demanding appetite for raw materials.
This also has nothing to do with the leadership of the Kronus Hegemony. Developing their own Votann gave them a huge boost to their productivity and influence, it didn't start ruling over them. This was my first color test for my Dixie Guard
I wanted the uniforms to be that reddish-tan "butternut" color, and used what I had on-hand to see how it turned out. 1 part Army Painter Dryad Brown, 1 part Pro Acryl khaki, 1 part thinner. I know my coverage and thickness aren't perfect (nor is my cutting off of mould marks and avoiding fat-fingering with plastic cement).
It's a bit too red for what I was originally after (the lighting I took this picture in bleeds out a lot of that color unfortunately), but overall I'm content with this color for the uniform itself before shading with something like AP Skeleton Bone. In future I think I'll try Baneblade Brown 50/50 with Screaming Skull or something along those lines. The slightly mismatched colors should help sell the Confederate theme a bit more as well.
I think I'll start with AP Uniform Grey for the armor bits.
Airbrushing makes base colors a LOT easier, everyone should have an airbrush, even if it's one of those cheap usb-charging ones to start with to learn what works.

I keep forgetting that a Heavy Intercessor squad is 5 models, not 3. I keep thinking it's 3. That means it's 15 t6 wounds for 100 points. 3+ armor, oc2, and another special rule that reduces damage. And all of their guns are heavy bolters, just with 1 less shot. GW is insane.

I play eldar, SoB, and guard, so every time I swap over to making a list for my marines and I look at gravis armor, I wonder if I'm crazy. Why am I paying 100 points for 10 t3 wounds with worse guns when I can pay 100 points for 15 t6 wounds with better guns and additional defensive special rules. Faith dice do not make up the difference lol, especially when you remember that the marines also have their own oath army rule. Like it's just insane. I feel like the crazy person in the room because everyone else just accepts gravis armor and doesn't seem to think it's weird.
>>
I wonder how varied the eldar species is. Like height variation, are there eldar who are considered abnormally tall? Like how humans are on average are around 170cm but can be upwards of over 2meters. What would they consider "abnormally tall"?
What about abnormally short eldar? Are there dwarf eldar?

GW heavily overvalues miracle dice and acts like Sisters aren't a t3w1 infantry unit army with their strongest anti-armor weapon on the field being s10 against nearly every vehicle they'd fight being t12 so you have to get lucky rolls to even get hits in the first place.
A lot of people just look at everything on paper and don't consider how it actually plays, especially GW.
11th launched with SoB's Bringers of Flame at 3 DP, and Firestorm Assault Force for Marines at 2. Both do the exact same things, but Firestorm does each thing better (12" range vs. 6" on BoF for the +1 strength on attacks, etc). Yes the DP value for BoF was reduced like a week ago, but it still launched at 3.
You also have to consider SMfags who think it's fine to have bullshit like that with whatever justification, such as (but not limited to)
>you have janky bullshit too
This is the one most cling to, they don't understand how other armies play so they never argue this well and it ends up being you both talking past each other because one party doesn't understand a perspective beyond his own.
>we pay for the whole game so GW SHOULD cater to us
>but -your army- was good in -previous edition-, let me have my time in the sun
>you can have 4 meltas in a 110 point squad
They don't realize how cooked the books are in their favor a lot of the time.

storage space
use space, ideally one that would not bother others in the house depending on the compressor

I used a random box something else came in as a backstop. I taped up the corners to prevent bleed out through the little gaps. In total I used maybe 3 cubic feet for all of my paints, brushes, airbrush and accoutrements when I started out.
>initial buy-in
My first "hobby" airbrush cost 45 USD and used a handheld compressor that charged from a usb cable. That's 2 dollars less than the price of Vulkan He'stan (from GW). Combined with airbrush primer and the cleaning supplies I bought alongside that airbrush, it was 62 USD. That is only 2 dollars more than the price of a single box of Tactical Marines (again, from GW). Hobby starter stuff like this is largely immune to funny money price shenanigans, as demand is rather low. You can probably find the exact products I bought years ago with a difference of less than 5 dollars in total between my price and now.
If you cannot afford 1 box of infantry's worth as a starting point for a massive leg up in painting (at least in convenience), you have bigger issues to worry about than money for Warhammer and should probably work on those instead.

granted, I’m a little biased because I don’t own an airbrush nor do I plan to any time soon, but wouldn’t it be the reverse? the other anon is claiming an airbrush is absolutely essential to paint hence it being a massive blunder to not own one as soon as you get your first minis, so therefore it would make way more sense to see the person who airbrushes every model to see why its essential vs seeing the models painted with just a brush which is the case for 90% of mini painters.

If you like the models, the lore, the game, and other aspects of the hobby, but don't have the patience or the skill for painting, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with commissioning an artist to paint your models for you. There are thousands of them and they literally make a living doing it. They want your business. There's a whole economy out there of artists who love painting and want to paint your stuff. There's a stigma against claiming you painted them if you didn't but otherwise it's part of the scene and it's a mutually beneficial business.

I painted most of my stuff but I wanted a couple nice centerpiece models and there's a guy at my lgs who paints really well and has a little painting side business and he was happy to have the business.

Painting your own stuff makes it fully "yours" so it's good at at least try, or do most of it. But I highly recommend just getting some help if you really don't like it or can't, or you have a nice centerpiece you want to do justice.

What do you mean by "mutated classic look"?

For me, I can understand misgivings over the shift in proportions... I'm fine with it on Boyz, and as it scales up to Nobs and Warbosses I think it gets worse. At the same time, I'm so damn happy that Orks faces aren't all clones anymore, don't have the awfully sculpted noses that are too pig-like, that in general they've got personality in their faces again. yes, all killa kans are gretchin dreads. Ork vees more like mechs with traditional pilots include:

gorkanauts/morkanauts (these have a few guys on the outside but a single pilot)

ork mega/meka dreads (just a single pilot)

stompas, gargants (these have entire crews, though)

black legion isn’t just made up of former sons of horus, it also includes other warbands they’ve conquered and integrated into themselves. there are also lapdog warbands like the children of torment who claim to be independent, but still follow abbadon’s marching orders which may include partnering up to other lapdog warbands or the black legion.

It would be nice to see how some Chaos Space Marine legions would fight together. Iron Warrior heavy gunner, World Eater Melee guy etc.
>>
>>98445418
Yes! The exact Chaos counterpart is the Black Legion (or a Chaos Warband / Black Crusade).
Chaos Space Marines do hate each other, but they set it aside when there's a good beatdown on the table.
The Black Legion: Led by Abaddon, they accept Space Marines from any background—Word Bearers, Night Lords, even recent Renegades. They paint their armor black/gold and combine their unique tactics (Berzerkers, Rubrics, Plague Marines) into custom strike forces.
Black Crusades & Mercs: Warbands routinely hire or pact with rival factions. Need siege power? An Iron Warrior Lord will gladly hire World Eaters or Red Corsairs for muscle.
The Catch: Unlike the Deathwatch's sacred brotherhood, Chaos "teamwork" is held together purely by fear, greed, and a strong warlord keeping them from slitting each other's throats. As soon as the battle ends, the backstabbing resumes.
>>
Okay but who's the Chaos Grey Knights equivalent?
>>
>>98445494
fuck off chatGPT
>>
>>98445502
Word Bearers.
>>
>>98445502
The Thousand Sons are the dark mirror to the Grey Knights.
Where Grey Knights are an all-psyker force dedicated to destroying daemons, the Thousand Sons are an all-psyker (or sorcerer-led) force dedicated to unleashing warp magic.
All-Psyker Warfare: Every squad is led by a powerful Sorcerer wielding force staves and warp fire instead of Nemesis weapons.
The Twist: Thanks to the Rubric of Ahriman, their rank-and-file troops aren't living Marines—they're dust-filled suits of armor controlled mind-to-mind by the sorcerers.
Honorable Mention: Word Bearers. If Grey Knights exist to purge daemons, Word Bearers exist to worship them and bind them into flesh (Possessed).
>>
>>98445507

>>
>>98445754
It's not a sergeant option, the regular crusaders get it. And their chainswords also hit on 3s.
>>
>>98445923
You know I'm looking at these crusaders. Are they just better berzerkers? Same surge movement ability, same melee, except they also get a lethal hits power sword and sustained hits on all their chainswords. And the berzerkers are 20 points more expensive? Only benefit the berzerkers seem to have is that 4 of them don't have a 4+ but honestly I'll take 4 slightly squishier guys for sustained hits on my chainswords.
>>
>>98445916
Templates definitely add clunk in terms of requiring you to space your models out but that's just a part of the game.
A big quality of life change I started enforcing when my mates and I started playing HH and using templates again was requiring you to roll the scatter next to the targeted unit, so much time saved because there was no arguing about an angle from a dice half a table across.

You haven't fully painted a model in over a year.
You haven't played a game with anyone other than your brother in years (If you actually are playing games with him and not staging photos of games)
You have admitted to being banned from your local gaming store
You have been ostracized from pretty much every corner of the internet, where even the hive of scum and villainy like 4chan doesn't want you around
You have lied through your teeth on several occasions and failed to provide evidence to back up your own statements on several occasions.
You've gone on constant tirades about things completely unrelated to 40k in these threads despite saying you'll stop on multiple occasions.
You are the only person to have been barred from community events such as the collage and have cause other community things such as the fridge to cease to be.
Your presence in this thread has cratered the already low reputation Space Wolves had on this site to the point where it will never recover
You have been banned over a hundred times to the point that even the moderators and jannies are sick of your shit.

>Fridgefag gives him a conditional chance to get put on the fridge if he behaves (multiple times at that)
>Decalfag refuses to change and continues to do Decalfag things
>Decalfag tries to weasel his way into the image by adding in pics of his models in manually in order to pass his fridge image as legit, people call him a fag for this of course
>Eventually Fridgeanon says fuck it and slaps a "No Sloppers allowed" sticker on the side of the pic, Decalfag has yet another melty
>Even the collage anon does the same thing and Decalfag refuses to change, he is banned for life (Permanent means permanent)
>One day the person who maintains the fridge gets a Permaban related to Decalfag (I think it was because they reported their posts or something) and posts a big "farewell" message, leading to them and several other posters saying "Fuck it I'm out" too
>Literally the only person happy is the mutant because if he can't have fun then no one can

I may have gotten a thing or two wrong here, but that's basically it. I think this is the last version of the fridge before they left.

On one hand, I could kind of see some inner circle secrecy bs happening where they are sitting on and utilising a stash of DaoT shit. OTOH they are still SM with all of the apprehension and outright hatred for xenos, so could go either way. There's no official lore of DA being more likely to use xenos tech though, and plasma is their shtick so feels somewhat wrong to take it away from them.
