>>98453372
I understand the new is old aspect of 40k design, but I think gw does a poor job of keeping the anachronisms at the same level. most of the guard aesthetic is ww2, but then the vehicles are like 80% ww1, except for the aircraft which are vietnam. it's like if you had a 12th century crusader and give him a futuristic laser sword that's cool, but if you give him a bronze age hoplite shield then it just looks confused.
>>
>>98454920
actually they're shaped like bags of sand

Work small and gradually. Sometimes you can sand and carve but for the most part epoxy is an additive process, so learn how to blend. Probably the most overlooked thing is good light and magnification.

Just finished this dude from the scouts Kill Team. It was also my first time ever using regular acrylics with a wet palette instead of contrast/speedpaints (I used a couple of those as base) and it was quite fun. I didn't really bother with many highlights and it's a far cry from what is usually posted here but i'm very happy with the result and I think it already looks better than most of the stuff I've painted with speedpaints.
I just gotta apply a couple of decals now but I'm gonna get some Micro Set - Micro Sol first.
>>
>>98455572
Looks good, but the spectral highlight in the foreground looks to be from a lightsouce too near to the objects for the scale. Pull it back a little and lower the ambient light a couple of notches to soften the effect of the backlighting and take the blue out of the midground overhead light. It's too cool for the background wall color.
>>
>>98455676
That looks great, look the contrast and material differencec
>>
>>98455695
It's all just lit with a single default HDRI right now. The plan when I'm ready is to dim that a bit and then light the scenes with intentional lights and keep the HDRI as a sort of baseline to add some interest to reflections.

Honestly I literally just eyeball it
I start by dividing the round kneepads in halves or quarters with thin white lines, then kept adding parallel lines, trying to keep the distance about the same

if you're painting over larger (and brightly coloured) areas like knight's shields and such you can use a thin pencil over gloss varnish to lay down a grid before filling it with your paints

Yeah, the yellow was Averland Sunset and I struggled a bit with its consistency but I kinda dig the rougher effect I ended up with. I'm kind of a lazy painter and I didn't feel like highlighting every nook and cranny.
And yes, Imperial Fists! I'm kinda nervous about trying out decals but I've consoomed a bunch of YT tutorials so I'm feeling kinda confident.

Basecoating with yellow can be a hassle
If you're going to paint a lot of imperial fists and don't want to bother too much, using a white or bone primer and imperial fists yellow contrast paint produces a good result

Really good colors, glasswork, and gemwork. Also cool frog. Idk if the wavy lines work on the main vial, I feel like the liquid would be settled. Where's the frog from?

Your phone camera is really fucking with your picture quality. The opencamera app can disable the inbuilt filters/blurring if you're using android.

Thanks. Still need to clean it up a bit. As for the main vial, I figured since she's running it would be jostling.

Thank you anon. This is with identical settings, but without whatever processing pass samsung has built in. It's still nowhere near a good camera but it's better than the bullshit I've been getting.
