So new Lizards soon. It's gonna be a pity hero for the end of the edition, isn't it?
>>98455323Well I mean first there's the tome pity herofor end of edition, we don't know yet. sounds like they're going to be pretty involved in the narrative, so they might get another toy or two
When is the 3 years up (assuming GW is sticking to the 3 year schedule)? Would it be a Death edition next time around since Skaven technically made this one a Chaos edition? I hope they add more granular weapon profiles, I feel no need or desire. to expand beyond my Spearhead as is.
>>98455323For the battletome, not the end campaign, but it's probably going to be very close to the start of the campaign books anyway.AoS's main rumormonger at the moment is an insufferable ESL, but this is what can be glimpsed from his ramblings:>named skink hero called tetaxi>rides a coatl>blessed by tepok, maybe sotek too>is an incredibly important prophet and seems to represent a new leader for all skinks>possibly even more important than some slann>he walked alone into the realm of chaos to find old ones ruins>actually his coatl steed is some kind of pterosaur with a serpentine tail blessed by tepok

>>98455389>death editionNagash I wish.
>>98455390>possibly even more important than some slannI know that Tetto'eko was renowned for his seer abilities back in Fantasy to the point where the Slann were impressed, but having a Skink that is said to be more important than some Slann is stretching it a bit. I'm sure he's a cool guy and it sounds like he might be some kind of hybrid character between Tetto'eko and Tehenhauin, but I hope GW doesn't jump the shark with him being so comparable to Slann. But hey more named Lizards is great anyway. Hope he looks cool.
>>98455423don't do this to man I'm at my limit :(
>>98455444From the sound of it it's a similar deal as mathaela>one day the declining slann/akhelians will be no more and so the skinks/namarti will have to step up and do everything >this character is the herald of that paradigm shift

>>98455230>hopesNothing, any hopes I had died with the 4e CoS tome.>fearsThey ruin any and every scrap of lore this setting has, utterly erasing the past decade bar some minor mentions. We turn AoS into Warhammer Fantasy but worse im every way. Azyr becomes basically non-canonical as it gets removed and never mentioned in a real way. We get "oh nooo it's so sad it died" without a real exploration of what it means. CoS somehow becomes the diet Imperium of Man.>expectations We meet somewhere in the middle where everything becomes lame and gay. Aqshy/Ghyran/Hysh/Ulgu survive basically unchanged. Chamon and Ghur become tiny tiny pieces of Aqshy/Ghyran respectively. Shyish is utterly fucked.

>>98455230What was even the point of Kragnos and the Era of the Beast anyways? He threatened one (1) singular named Free City and then got owned by a fucking portal. A portal.
>>98455548You know what would be the funniest shit? If gw released umbraneth in 5th ed and then wrote them as if they were always at the forefront of all events pf the past 10 years of aos, with artworks of them alongside fatcasts and whatnot, like iconic artworks edited to have some umbraneth in them.
>>98455689Something like that might happen. Show them working in the shadows pulling the strings of the mortal realms to some extent. Last time I heard about Malerion was him fighting (?) Tyrion and being worried for Morathi when she went for godhood. Nothing since then.
>>98455230>what are your hopes,That someone at GW grows a brain and fires whoever came up with The Last World. As well as everyone at the company who jumped on the bandwagon. Get them out. AoS will be permanently raped into 40k-lite and everything unique about it sanded off while the marketing teams high five each other and continue fagging up every single property GW sells.>and expectations?Pessimistic to say the least. If the rumors are this unified from every source, it's probably way, way too late to backpedal or right the ship. The books are already being printed and stockpiled. The decorations and cardboard cutouts are already being produced. It's fucked.
>>98455710>The Last WorldWhat is that? I'm not up to date.
>>984557185th edition gimmick where all the realms are merged into one, with the realms now instead serving as land-masses on same planet. Oh and Sigmar is now even less involved with Stormcast taking a backseat too in favor of CoS.
>>98455718It's the rumored name of 5th Edition, which will be a pseudo End Times rebranding for the game. Azyr gets nuked by Chaos and the Order gods are all killed in the process, the remaining Realms collide into each other due to the cosmic balance being disrupted, which creates a singular planet that the remaining mortals have to survive on. With the Realms devastated, magic dies out to mere scraps to make the setting much grittier, the remaining free cities become mortal empires that crudely imitate WHFB, and the setting itself is basically just WHFB 2.0. Stormcast are now a dwindling race because Sigmar is dead and no one can Reforge them (or make new ones) anymore, Chaos is sweeping across the continents because the Realm of Chaos remains untouched and can pour its warriors across the globe as it pleases, Order fractures into bickering free cities that all hate and distrust each other, and for good measure, humans, duardin, and aelves all go their separate ways out of growing prejudice, all blaming each other for Chaos's victory. The only good part about all this is that Nagash is perma-killed apparently.
>>98455734>>98455759So a soft death of AoS and a reset? You know what's hilarious? I got into WFB when they refreshed Dark Elves. The game died some time after. This past weekend I decided to get into AoS and ordered the Morathi Battleforce.I'm sorry guys.
>>98455663what did games workshop mean by this?
>>984556895th is a timeskip so it'll be thunderstrike only going forward
>>98455773It's a setting shift only from the sounds of it
Say anons I need some tips here, I'm working on my gluttons (still, holy fuck this is gonna be a stupid project.) and I was wondering, should I stick to the new spikey mouth styled stomach armor, or just saw off the front part of the new metal gut plates to put their old sewer potholes on top (and probably greenstuff a little belt)
>>98455773Do let us know what army you're interested in next mr harbringer customer, gives us all a heads upAnyway, it's not quite an end times tier drama. More on par with all the shit that happened between 7th and 8th edition of 40k. At first things did look quite dire, but the rumourmongers who leaked all this in the first place have already started walking back some of the more egregious news they were putting out at the start.I think unless you're playing CoS or stormcast, not much will change all things considered. And in the case of the former, they've already started going down their muh fantasy guard path from 3rd edition onward (unfortunately).
>>98455704Last I remember was when Morathi betrayed Sigmar and Malerion (alongside Grungni) still had Sigmar's back and even gave him some magic orb.
>>98455782the point was depicting them fighting, say, in the soulwars or realmgate wars side by side with the fatcasts of the time
>>98455799Gathering Storm pretty much ruined 40k for me, so even if this is "only" a Gathering Storm-type event it's still going to make me seethe like a motherfucker
>>98455773Eh, they ain't getting rid of any models. I'd call this basically just new edition gimmick like "THE PRIMARCHS ARE AWAKENING!" as opposed to an end times scenario. Just bump the setting forward, maybe Sigmar made a new planet in secret by condensing random bullshit from the realms then he gets "killed" by Archaon (killed in a way where we never see a body and only hear stories) and then some form of timeskip that can't be big enough to warrant named characters/designs/gameplay will remain the exact same.
>>98455823Fair enough, but I still think it's worth making a distinction between a change in "feel" of a game and a change in, well, everything, like happened with whfb->AoS
>>98455795No clue if they’ll update the lore, but gutplates are tied to the wealth and occupation of the Ogre. The new gut plates look rather well put crafted compared to the old ones, so I think it depends on whether you imagine your dudes as being wealthy or not (the back bling would suggest wealthy though)
>>98455675>comes out and makes a ruckus>shut down by BASED frog>just a part of the status quo now
>>98455839I've been kinda going for my guys being a bit more basic bitch. Main reason I'm even considering this is because I have 10 old gluttons to go with the 10 new ones, and I like more consistency. So having them all be relatively the same on that front would make my brain happy. Also as a little side note, I did use the spikey armor for my tyrant (also gave him a gnoblar lookout buddy)Though they are meant to be more of a merc force that I think doesn't want to be AS assosciated with the modern tribes. (Kinda like "look, we ain't as crazy as those fuckers. Pay us and feed us, and we'll keep things like they used to be.")
>>984556753e in general seems to have gotten completely and utterly fucked by COVID and the resultant retardation. When the edition first came out, things seemed to be hinting at bigger plans than what we got, but supply chains getting fucked and no one being allowed to go into work for like 6 months kinda ruined them
>>98455794I hope so.>>98455799I wouldn't mind if DoK were reunited with Malerion's guys and became one army like the Dark Elves of old. It didn't make much sense for them to be separate to begin with. Maybe I picked a good time to get into AoS after all?>>98455824Might have to grab Archaon and Nagash before this edition ends. Fuck.
>>98455884I'll say straight up, no way in hell they'd do a new model for either of those so only get 'em if you really want 'em. Nagash and Archaon will remain, the only thing I hope doesn't remain is Nagash being absolute fucking trash tier on the table in all 4 armys.
>>98455892I thought that they might get squatted actually and maybe refreshed years down the line. Nagash especially and Archaon is due for an update, maybe with Slaanesh included this time or maybe without the favor of any of the 4 Gods?
>>98455899If it hasn't happened yet I doubt it will happen anytime soon. If anything I'd expect those models to remain as is (since remember Archaon's mount doesn't get the heads from "Favor" it gets the heads on his mount from eating the champions of the gods and Slaanesh just didn't send anyone. He just has those heads because they're absolutely scuffed and powerful)Giant premium models like that I imagine GW will delay as long as they feasibly can on updating them, I'd bet more likely GW would just make a new Arkhan the Black model as a giant skeleton wizard type thing but I don't think he'd have the quad faction biz like Nagash. (And even then, GW I don't think is touching the mortarchs unless they all get touched up at once.) I spose my thoughts are: GW is always lazy and will delay as long as humanly possible on replacing shit as opposed to just making new shit.
>>98455773What have you done...
>>98455922>I spose my thoughts are: GW is always lazy and will delay as long as humanly possible on replacing shit as opposed to just making new shit. It's possible. I just don't trust GW anymore and I've been burned a lot by them removing old models. Even Ogors were hit recently and got the old Tyrant removed for no reason. He could've stayed as a variant but nope. Also the Mortarchs... these guys are definitely getting reworked. Fuck, have to buy them too...
>>98455939>He could've stayed as a variant but nopeI imagine he could have but my schizo theory is that the old fatcast helmet being a part of him doomed him. (Though I'll say, his head is old fucked up ogor proportion head) I love him and like the new tyrant too, ADMITEDLY I have both and kitbashed both to have a bit new of new and old so I'm happy regardless. Also my best advice for you, you can magnetize the mortarch kit easily, you can also kitbash them to be on foot versions easily, you do not need to buy 3 of that shitass kit.
>>98455551>Azyr becomes basically non-canonical as it gets removed and never mentioned in a real way.I think realistically azyr will just becomes the cosmos. If we're doing away with the realms they're going to have to redefine the cosmology somewhat anyway, because without hysh in the sky where do we get the day/night cycle from, etc. Azyr being shattered and not included in the merged realm might explains all the celestial objects in the night sky at least. My hope for azyr is that it gets shattered, but some of the main settlements stick around as celestial fortresses or some shit. I'm a sucker for the "space station but in a fantasy umiverse" trope, would love to see it around. We kind of have it currently with sigmarabulum, but like anything azyr it's not reallt explored atm.Anyway, could do some cool stuff with it. Could even leave it somewhat open, like the people on the ground don't really know what's going on up ghere. Maybe there's still stormies in there, fighting off occasional chaos invasions looking to steal whatever mcguffins these remnants of azyr hold. Imagine you're some fucking peasant living your whole life on your farm with a distant city vaguely visible in the stars, only for it to break out in chaotic dragonfire and stormcast thunderbolts one day.Fuck it I'll just make that the lore of my stormie spearhead anyway.
>>98455865I think the scrapyard (in comparison) look of the old gutplate could fit the merc life better. It would suggest they’re getting their gut plates from a different place than the regular tribes.
Ogre WIP, I usually do very colorful minis so this is outside my comfort zone.
>>98455689Well that's already the case. They aren't some mystery, Mal is a public figure etc. It's only WE THE AUDIENCE who don't see shadow people
By the way some more boole updates, regarding the 5e starter set rumours:>No, we have no news of Morghur>A long time ago, we said that 5E would be BoC and Skaven, but later we learned that was false information meant to mock us. When we actually got the real news about 5E, we were very angry and sadHe also said that he intentionally fudges up the rumours from time to time, in the same way one might blur up a picture leak a bit, to protect oneself from repercussion to some extent. Notably, he also claims TLW is the exception and he just gives whatever he gets straight up because of its importance. It seems like he gets the tlw stuff secondhand though.honestly seems like he's covering his ass for mistakes mostly but what do I knowFinally, when asked about the order of the final battletomes, he says he thinks seraphon will be last. Previously we assumed khazalids would be last in line, being a major release and all, so that's interesting. Find it kind of odd, you'd think they'd put a smaller release like seraphon between khazalids and ogres, so he might be wrong on this one. There's also still SoB with a relatively big wave too.Oh also, sad react on a guy asking for news about malerion or dark elves coming to tow, whatever he means by that
>>98456026If we tie the rumors together, it's "Big Story Faction Gets Last Book", like how DoK got the "last" book of second edition right before Morathi's Spergout or how CoS got the last book of Third Edition. Seraphon have their uper duper special skink priest who will be instrumental for saving the universe. So in they go as the last book.
>>98456045Could be, but dorfs are also supposed to be heavily involved in the EoE narrative as far as we know, so I guess it's a bit of a toss up really.Sons of behemat up next then, either way.
>>98455993not too shabby anon! I hope I can get start getting some WIP's once I get the rest of these gutplates installed.

Speaking about TLW and models being squatted/refreshed. What AoS specific models are in fear of being squatted? Not talking about stuff that's from WFB but about current AoS stuff.
is there any possible way they manage to pull TLW off and it not be a massive fumble? any at all?
>>98456297Effectively zero chance. A lore revamp this extreme is the kind that pisses off the existing playerbase and will never draw any of the TOW/40k crowd they're trying to please with the extra edgy plot twists.
>>98456295most of SCE you can expect to be gone.
>>98456218https://rumours-tracker.netlify.app/rumours-list
>>98456297no. Anybody who isn't interested in AoS isn't going to turn to it from yet another "revamp". At the same time, it's going to potentially turn away those who are already invested. Which is why it's very unlikely to be happening, it makes zero sense.
>>98456295AOS exclusive... Uhhh, not really anything. Most factions are barely scraping by with enough models, NH got fucked so I guess I'd imagine they'll somehow kill dreadblade harrows when the time for the hexwraith rebrand shows up.
So is cities the new poster-boy faction of AoS now? They're getting Space Marine level love these days, whereas SCE are old and busted.
>>98456351Not even close
>>98456236Reimagine how the army is supposed to play on the table, more units, and fix our existing problem units/heroes. Only 4 or so of our 12 heroes are actually good and Namarti suck. An army that copes with “high skill expression and flexibility” as an excuse for sucking is not an experts army. It just sucks and playing it comes with the knowledge that you’re going into a match handicapped. You simply can’t have an unwelcoming and unforgiving army on the table with a limited model range that is also neglected by the developers in both the model and rules departments. That’s a fast track to being squatted.
>>98456413>high skill expression and flexibilityMan you would hate the shmuck in charge of our local community, complain about any fucking faction and that's his excuse. Anytime someone brings up gitz he goes "They're fine."
>>98456236Everyone likes Elf Pirates. Reimagine the Deepkin to be less Aquaman in Atlantis, and more Elf Pirates. Seriously, Scourge Privateers are exactly what Deepkin should have been from day one.
>>98456295Half of the Stormcast range will be squatted when they introduce the new units in the 5e starter box :)
What’s the AI yall use to test colors on minis? I’m not happy with the armor colors and wanna see what some alternatives would look like
>>98455773It's all larp, I doubt anything is actually going away. All the "leaks" come from avowed AoS haters and the few manifestations that have lined up with said "leaks" thus far have been significantly different than described.

>>98456236I don't really follow the lore but can anyone explain to me how sea creatures fight land armies?
>>98456944cope
>>98456949They have a magical field that bends physics to allow sea creatures to swim in the air as they do under water. It also makes thick mists/fog, distorts the air, and slows down land creatures as if they were trying to move through water. It also works inversely for Idoneth, keeping them safe from the effects of cold and pressure at the depths they keep their cities and letting them breathe and swim or walk underwater.
>>98456949when they come on land, Idoneth bring with them an invisible magic sea that fuses with the atmospherein concrete terms, that means their sea beasts can fly in the air by executing a swimming like motion and all non-Idoneth on the battlefield will have a feeling similar to asphyxia (non-lethal) as if they were literally drowning in the open air
>>98456965Oh okay thanks
>>98456949They don't live in the actual sea because each Realm has its own sea, so that would strand them. Instead, the Idoneth live in the Aether Sea which is like a sub-Realm that connects to all other Realms... and stuff. Honestly my eyes glaze over every time I read an explanation like that because EVERY faction has the exact same "we have our own little pocket dimension with gateways to every other Realm" gimmick. Anyways, the Aether Sea is like Super Hell to anyone who isn't an Idoneth so they're very safe there, but they can't stay there forever because most Idoneth are half-souled because Teclis made them wrong, as a joke. So they swim up out of the Aether Sea (teleport, basically) and attack small settlements to harvest souls to sustain their lower, empty-souled servant castes. Does this make them barely better than Chaos? Yes. In fact they're arguably worse than Chaos because Chaos doesn't destroy souls, it devours them, but they can always be recovered. Idoneth *annihilate* every soul they drink because their very existence is like a bottomless sink into which soul-matter drains, walking spiritual black holes that will eventually annihilate every soul in existence if they're allowed to keep expanding and harvesting uncontested. But Order doesn't have time to hunt them down and kill them (nor do they have the magic to enter the Aether Sea very deeply without dying) so instead they hold them to contracts to help fight Chaos. I probably got some details wrong but that's the sparknotes.
>>98456984>They don't live in the actual sea because each Realm has its own sea, so that would strand them. Instead, the Idoneth live in the Aether Sea which is like a sub-Realm that connects to all other Realms... and stuff.Anon. That's ENTIRELY incorrect.
>>98456993So it is, upon re-reading my Idoneth BT which I again confess I skimmed very lazily. Disregard me
>>98456958"Notice me, Boole-senpai! Please favor me with your often incoherent, emotionally distressed ramblings and attempts at sounding well learned and clever! UwU!"
>>98456901it makes more sense if the tlw plot was always possible and always in motion, rather than something only done by a last minute deus ex machina
Did Boole give any more rumors after the whole enemies to allies thing?
>>98457003tbqh its a cool idea
>>98456949Idoneth can’t breathe underwater, so they use their magic to create bubbles of aethersea, something that blends the traits of water and air allowing them to control which apply to who, and bring it with them when they raid the land. They breathe it like air, their mounts float through it like in the sea, while their enemies feel like they’re swinging weapons through water. There’s undersea realmgates they have a monopoly on which lets them travel to all sorts of places and between realms, some even linking to aquatic realmgates that’re far inland and let them raid places nowhere near their enclaves.>>98456984Basically none of this is true but>EVERY faction has the exact same "we have our own little pocket dimension with gateways to every other Realm" gimmickI dont think literally any faction at all has this, anon, unless you count the realm of chaos.
>>98457432Yeah nothing this edition has had any buildup outside of the helsmiths being in the corebook, there’s a less than zero chance we’re going to get anything towards the end of edition plot in the battletomes. If the khazalid shit is real the first time we’re going to hear about them and how they suddenly unified will be in their tome, and the first we’ll hear about any end of edition shit will be the in the first book that’s part of it.

>>98455323It's a coatl
>>98455776they meant "buy more models"
>>98456295The most obvious army for this is stormcast. The remaining fatcast units (vanguard + extremis) will either be squatted or refreshed, though it's hard to say which exact models will get which treatment. Like for example with 4th edition, the lord veritant got a refresh while the lord castellant was squatted. Aside from stormies, we're now at a point where almost every army is comprised of a majority of AoS models (except maybe seraphon). I think it's fair to assume they'll start refreshing some of late whfb / early AoS "end times style" units. We're already seeing this with fyreslayers, who were AoS' third army released. Khorne is another obvious choice, lots of models with an aesthetic that doesn't quite match the newer stuff anymore. They're also primed for another big release in the future, as we know khul is coming soon™. It's also a matter of time before khornegors come to the game.
>>98456295>AoS specific models are in fear of being squattedOlder stuff. Wave 1 Ironjawz stand out. Brutes and Gore Gruntas. >THEY'D NEVER REFRESH THEM! They're older than Fyreslayers.
>>98458153Yes, but they are in destruction. They are beyond notice
