Since DM has been getting so much attention in the Core sets recently, I wanted to try my hand at some more niche GX anime-only cards. This one is closer to pack-filler than I would have liked, but i think it's still kind of interesting as a stall/control tool. The gimmick of attacking your own monsters kind of needs to generate some sort of positive advantage to outweigh the built-in removal that you're giving up; maybe there's something more interesting than just card draw, but i thought that this genericality fit the literal classroom training theme.

Droll & Lock Bird has been a decisive card for a while, its desperate for a rebalance to curb the going first effectiveness, yet it struggles against decks that naturally play around it by milling or setting from deck. I re-worked this one from a one-time handrip that also essentially skips your turn to a floodgate with agency à la the Mulcharmies. Forcing either you to use your handtraps early or for you to wait for your opponent to generate some advantage before you can use this was intended to keep this from being too impactful. The lock on the activating player exists to make the choice to extend into this effect feel like an actual choice, rather than too auto-lose in the instance that the activating player has more handtraps waiting to double-punish any following plays.

not all the OPs are coombait, let's look at the last 10
>serena and the furry sluts (not an exaggeration, they really look like that)
>kitkallos happily waiting for her 3 instant fusion cups to cook (her guilty pleasure being cup ramen is a joke because she can be summoned by it)
>diabellstar in a cocktail dress, drinking (suggestive BUT her series had just been announced, thus why she's celebrating)
>genni looking for verre, not realizing she's under her bosom (we had just gotten confirmation that she would be in mayhem)
>maid verre (suggestive, but used because people thought she was being held hostage by KONMAI until next year)
>marka from the witchcrafters, whose proportions aren't exaggerated in the slightest
>a joke picture about red-eyes, who had just gotten more shitty support
>dristy and that one green alien cat from that "horror" game made by trannies for trannies
>literally just official art of red blossoms
>the dominus girls in bunnysuits (100% coombait, but spark had just been revealed)
>another picture of kitkallos with a instant fusion cup
and if we go even frther back, there's gottoms, zeus (again), raye and roze dabbing, the 4 original charmers jumping in joy (because quartet in bloom had been revealed, and it's a legitimately good card), a decades-old meme where a guy is lying on top of a bunch of cards as if he had just lost a duel, astellar and elzette offering chocolate (it was february), murakumo and a glitched out white rabbit (maliss and tearlaments are still being played in tournaments because of their art despite their pitiful state)
i've been making the OPs for a long while (i was a tad busy so i couldn't make this one), and while a bunch of the pictures i use are suggestive, i don't just shove anime tits there randomly

i'm not even sure why it bothers you, yugioh literally prides itself on being THE most heterosexual franchise ever, rush duel in fact is even lewder than the main game even though it's aimed to kids

To clarify, it's less the suggestiveness on its own and more it being the only thing that the image has for it when it does show up. Similarly, I was talking about the art posted in general over purely the OP.

The main core of my complaint is that a lot of the compositions are just...boring. There's a lot that are just sitting, standing, or laying down with often only 1-3 personalities total for each sex. Often falling into some lighthearted slice-of-life.

A lot gets posted, but because of that, I feel like I've also seen most of it before? Even without it being an actual repost.

I've found some good ones over the years. Something that cleaves away a lot of the bad ones is first checking if people duel in them.
There's a handful of ones that can do good with character interactions, but 90% of the ones who eliminate dueling are basically just embarassed to be involving Yu-Gi-Oh.

After that, you check the quality of one of the early duels. Duels are unironically hard to write in an engaging way, so if the writing there is decent with the plays and banter, then the rest of the story will be pretty good.

One that I found using these filters is King of Thrones:
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13438775/1/King-of-Thrones

It's not clear if it's updating anymore, but it completed multiple arcs and those are unironically peak. Especially with consideration to it playing out on hard mode by pulling in the Yu-Gi-Oh elements without any of its characters. They had to take the Game of Thrones characters and have them take a card game that just appeared magically completely seriously and have that be believable, and the author managed to pull it off.
>>
>>98491557
>I've found some good ones over the years.
How did you begin looking? I started on Ao3. Big mistake.

>Something that cleaves away a lot of the bad ones is first checking if people duel in them.
Totally agree. The smut all had this fault: no duels.

>Duels are unironically hard to write in an engaging way, so if the writing there is decent with the plays and banter, then the rest of the story will be pretty good.
VERY good idea. The shows proves that duels are hard to write.

>Game of Thrones characters
Sorry anon, that's a deal breaker for me. You were super close!
>>
>>98491631
>How did you begin looking? I started on Ao3. Big mistake.
Ao3 can work. But you need some key filters in place first.
You want to start with this "Yu-Gi-Oh All Media Types" page:
https://archiveofourown.org/tags/Yu-Gi-Oh!%20Series
Narrowing it down to specific series if you want a specific one or clicking on 'works' if you are ambivalent. Just using "Yu-Gi-Oh" or some variation in the upper right corner search just sends you to a really basic search function. By using one of these tags as a core, you get access to an infinitely better tag filter system.

From there, you'll see a panel on the right side with a bunch of categories. First things first to remove the smut (some can be fine, most aren't), use the Exclude section's Rating's category and click on Explicit. Then go into Warnings and also include all the sex related ones there for ones hiding under "Mature". Putting "Romance" in the other tags to exclude input also eliminates a bunch more, but that can also catch a lot of normal ones from how much it randomly shows up.

From there, go down to "More Options" and there you can designate excluding Crossovers to properties outside of Yu-Gi-Oh. You lose out on some individiual crossovers but this kills all the Prompt Collection.

Then, go to word count and in the "From" option put in 10000. You don't need to set an upper bound, but this will cleave out a ton of one-offs.

Then in language, put in "English".

With this basic selection of filters you go from ~34000 to about ~3700, before further narrowing for preference.

>Sorry anon, that's a deal breaker for me. You were super close!
Perfectly understandable anon. That one is just my go-to reference point because it severely pushes the limits on how far you can go with it while still managing to land it.

For a more series pure one though, here's a 5Ds one where Carly gets sent to Satellite before canon and the domino effects the result:
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6394164/1/The-Dragon-s-Ring
>>

Pleb. I honestly can't tell if this is the case of the dude is genuinely mentally retarded(not in the funny internet way, but genuinely slow since i've encountered some irl at locals who act like that), retarded in that he doesn't look it up himself or is just the classic guy selling his shitbox on marketplace going "no lowballs I know what I got". Either way, amusing
>>

>>
>>98491970
In that case, shift from 10,000 to 50,000 as the baseline and set the completion status to "Complete Works Only". Then go into Exclude -> Categories and exclude M/M to cut down on the fujos who can often write like maniacs.

Applying these on "All Media", you drop to about 250 novel length texts where you don't need to worry about new updates so all pages are useful to look through. You'll miss out on some stuff that is still labeled as in-progress but honestly complete, but you actually have use for the deeper pages.

I will mention that some descriptions are straight ass on the site and can hide some good stories because many of them get made when the first chapter is posted and never really updated so they convey only the most basic form of the story's concept. Because of this, sometimes you have to just go for it even if it doesn't sound the greatest in order to find the decent ones.
>>
>>98492160
I can't go full blast with a list at the moment because a chunk of the ones I know of are in the situation of being "I remember the contents, where did I read it?" hell.

Dragon's Ring at the end of >>98491949 and King of Thrones in >>98491557 would be two, at least.

For others I can recall, there's "One Card Short of a Full Deck" that is a crossover between DC and Yu-Gi-Oh that treats Yu-Gi-Oh cards as a Summer superpower, detemining cards by using booster packs.

If I remember right, this is the fourth iteration of the story concept because every single time the author was using the "Random Page" function or similar in order to determine the cards, they kept getting stuff that snapped the settings in two. With significant nerfs to how long stuff can stay around combined with the sheer number of options DC provided, the stories stopped falling apart by the 100k mark. Though even DC is sometimes barely holding on against even early 2000s booster packs because the abilities of spells/traps/monsters are partly informed by card art or descriptions rather than being as strict as possible.

From the very first iteration, the various monsters were treated as actual beings, so by this one the author has become pretty good at giving them all distinct personalities and fitting abilities.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/one-card-short-of-a-full-deck-dc-yugioh.972010/

For another, here's a crossover with My Hero Academia that's a bit of a monster at over 2 million words. I know that will probably drive more than a few away, but this one actually goes a bit hard because it basically turns the Duel Monsters card game into a Cosmic Horror. It steers hard into the Shadow Games and Season 0 type stuff.

The second chapter "Harsh Lessons" has the first duel and I do recommend at least checking that out to see the vibe if the idea of Season 0 style interests you but My Hero puts you off a bit.

No, they're just easier to find when you only remember a few details. Also there's one fanfiction that I utterly despise that led me on for like 200000 words without introducing anyone in its main villain organization and had no duels despite constantly hinted something, anything, would show up next chapter, and I don't want to accidentally post that one.

Anyway, here's one that does an alternate timeline in the wake of DSoD that goes over a timeline where things go very wrong at the last moment of the movie, even after Aigami is defeated:
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14327472/1/Yu-Gi-Oh-Minus

Same author as that one, this is a pretty good one from what I remember that blends Tag Force 4 with the Dark Signers arc and some elements from the other video games as well. The author has done stuff for the other Tag Force games, though while they started as a prequel, they've also become their own thing:

I've been playing MtG for about a year and recently got into YGO with picrel and have tosay I had way more fun with it than any wizards product.
This is certainly in part due to nostalgia, but I really have to commend Konami for making something so simple and (relatively) cheap be contain so much gameplay. Either that or WotC is actually horrible at what they are doing.
MtG seems like the mosre tasteful game at first, but imo YGO is way more enjoyable and diverse.

Welcome back to the game.

I'd recommend in the future when showing off a deck, you'll want to have an image form of it. You can create them using the deck builder on YGOPRODeck (https://ygoprodeck.com/deckbuilder/) or using one of the sims in the OP. You still want the text version so the cards are clear, but pic related can give a faster rundown for people that can recognize ones at a glance.

As for your deck, there's a few improvements you can make. One of the big combos people use with the deck today is:
>Normal Summon Sage
>Sage searches Maiden of White
>Maiden of White sends herself to GY to place True Light
>Link off Sage for Spirit with Eyes of Blue
>Spirit searches Mausoleum of White
>Activate Mausoleum of White
>Use Mausoleum of White's effect targeting Spirit to send BEWD from deck to GY
>Spirit effect to tribute itself and special summon BEWD from the GY
>Maiden of White's GY effect activates, summoning herself
>Synchro Maiden of White and BEWD into the Level 9 Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon.
>True Light effect to set Wishes with Eyes of Blue
>Activate Wishes with Eyes of Blue, searching (Roar of the Blue-Eyed Dragons or Majesty with Eyes of Blue) and (Sage with Eyes of Blue or Kaibaman the Legend)

Not perfectly familiar with where the Kaibaman the Legend line goes from here, but Sage:
>Use additional normal of Mausoleum to summon Sage
>Sage searches Effect Veiler
>Activate Roar to summon a BEWD from deck
>Synchro a second Spirit Dragon
>Spirit Dragon 1 tributes itself to summon Ultimate Spirit Dragon
>Spirit Dragon 2 tributes itself to summon Crimson Dragon
>Crimson Dragon targets Ultimate Spirit Dragon, returning itself to the ED to summon Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon

True Light is now protected by Stardust Sifr's continuous effect, and Ultimate Spirit doesn't die in the end phase due to the same effect.

Since people are looking for this combo, the main core of the deck looks a lot like this. This isn't including Kaibaman the Legend because he's a bit of a pricy bastard.

Monsters
>3x Blue-Eyes White Dragon
>3x Maiden of White
>3x Sage with Eyes of Blue
>3x Effect Veiler

Spells
>3x Wishes with Eyes of Blue
>1x Roar of the Blue-Eyed Dragons
>1x Mausoleum of White

Traps
>1x True Light
>1x Majesty of the White Dragons

Extra Deck
>3x Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon
>2x Spirit with Eyes of Blue
>1x Blue-Eyes Ultimate Spirit Dragon
>1x Crimson Dragon
>1x Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon
>1x Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon
>1x Blue-Eyes Tyrant Dragon

Don't really often see Mausoleum or True Light run at more than 1 copy due to how accessible they are. Roar and Majesty are similarly 1 ofs due to how True Light can get to them.

I didn't mention Tyrant and Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate in the above combo, but for turn 3, the combo to summon it is setup via something like:
>NS a light tuner
>Link off to make Spirit with Eyes of Blue
>Spirit tribute to summon a Blue-Eyes
>Banish Roar of the Blue-Eyed Dragons to use its second effect to equip Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon to the vanilla Blue-Eyes
>Banish both to use Blue-Eyes Tyrant Dragon's alternate summoning condition

From this base, a common direction is to go for a set of staples, with the most generic selection looking like:
>3x Ash Blossom and Joyous Spring
>3x Mulcharmy Fuwalos
>3x Infinite Impermanance
>2x Droll and Lock Bird
With these being the cards you tend to side in and out. They are included in pic related.

Adding those in gives 10 slots in the main to hit 40 cards, 5 slots in the Extra Deck, and 15 cards in the side deck for your individual customization from this core.
>>
>>98495631
Note that this core is laid out for Advanced format. There's also a new format by the name of Genesys where instead of Banned/Limited/Semi-Limited, cards have different point totals. Most cards have 0, but some have some significant points attached (ex. Crimson Dragon at 80, Ash Blossom at 20 per copy, Wishes with Eyes of Blue at 33 points per copy) and you can only have 100 points total in your deck. Additionally both Links and Pendulums are outright banned from the format.

These two cause significant shifts in how you want to build the deck in that format. Ones that even I'm not 100% certain on how they play out since I personally haven't played Genesys format Blue-Eyes before.
>>
>>98495419
Yeah the speed duel boxes especially battle city are fantastic and it's a massive shame they stopped the line of them. They're like the MTG duel decks but you get a bit more to work with.

If you want a step up in complexity and watched 5Ds as a kid try the "legendary 5Ds decks"
https://www.tcgplayer.com/product/657009/yugioh-legendary-5ds-decks-legendary-5ds-box-set?page=1&Language=English
$30 and you get 3 decks. The decks as is are ok except the aki/rose dragon deck sorta due to it being more of a shill for cards released in a set near it's release. You can cut some cards like the handtraps to bring them to 20 cards to make them in line with SD rules. Try your hand at deck building with them to be comfy within your SD play group.
I'm tempted to make a doc with some homebrew lists that can mesh with the battle city powerlevel so I can just throw it at people and you can throw it into TCGplayer's mass entry list to effectively auto buy the decks.

Unless i'm fucking stupid, doesn't the new DBP suck? None of the decks do anything too crazy, nor are they consistent enough to stand up to every single deck currently occupying tier 1. Raise moon doesn't even have a good pool of rank 7's to use.

Here's hoping they have absolutely zero impact in the meta, so i can pick up the cards for cheap just like i did with centur-ion and vaalmonica.

>>
>>98498817
No you're correct. The new DBP cards fucking stink. I can see Raise Moon seeing play the most out of all of them since it has a good HT for any deck that doesn't explicitly want to Search and a decent floodgate effect on No More Bets, but Xenovader just cannot work unless their second wave gives them a card that mass-banishes cards from main, and I can't see any universe where Sennet is worth anything outside of the circles of turboautists (probably like Gunkan Magikey) that WANT it to work.

You have to consider the unfamiliarity factor at the current time assuming you're playing against other people. We've seen time and again where bad decks will take a top early on in it's life and then never be seen again because nobody packed for it or just didn't know the choke points.
Also let's be real about some of these ennea tops for a moment. A lot of them are these roughly 100 person events (with one as low as 40 lol) and most of the tops are when the deck was fresh with release or support. But I guess if your goal is to top a 70 person regional then hey maybe you got a good shot.

You guys just aren't thinking hard enough

like first off, Raise Moon doesn't need a ton of light Rank 7s because thanks to Dark Ceruvim Irisfil they can rank up into a bunch of other light Xyz's like the Photon cards

Second off, both of these decks have fantastic plays going second. It is quite liteally impossible to extend if Raise Moon resolves. Mulcharmy against you and the xenos have multiple turn 0 cards along with cards that are just insane for the deck like Orochi

Like I dont even know what you mean by "Xenovder needs a card that mass banishes" they alread have that. It's Pot of Desires
>>
>>98500443
i get what you're saying, but ennea does have some higher profile tops from the past two months as well. top 8 at peru nats and catskill regionals are a bit better than a 100 person event. i dont think ennea is good at all, and thats after all the cards are out plus the extra support. once xeno and raise get the same treatment (as long as the rest of the cards aren't duds) i think they'll be at least as good if not most likely better. solid tier 2.5 or 3 decks, but definitely not hot garbage like vaal or magikey
>>
>>98500545
Similarly, Small World functionally reads as "Banish setup from hand, banish setup from deck, add nearly anything including something that can get both of those first cards back to hand"

Alos, one of the big things about most combo decks and meta decks ar their intense consistency from searching No More Bets turns that to purely random draws, as that on-resolution replacement is not a once per turn. A lot of decks can keep going, but it's more random and there's always good chances of drawing into cards you already used the HOPT effects on.

I would pretty firmly put both in "Wave 1; Hard to Evaluate". Always remember Radiant Typhoon with stuff like this.

So Raise Moon beats Xenovader by making them draw when they have no cards, Sennet beats Raise Moon by maintaining access to their consistency even when No More Bets is on the field, but how does Xenovader play around Sennet to complete the triangle?

I'm gonna hazard a guess with this and say that you just do not know what the game is like post-2022. We have a bunch of pile decks now thanks to a bunch of generic engines with 1-card starters that don't fuck with oneanother. If you stopped in ~2021 then it's like if Adventurer Engine didn't have restrictions. The thing that keeps those pile decks in-check is the simple fact that you don't have convenient access to the cards, but Pot of Greed at 3 in addition to the other aggressive draw cards we've gotten (Mulcharmy Fuwalos, Pot of Sloth, etc) throws all of that out the window.

You could have the card at 1 and it would change nothing. It's a bad card at 1 copy. You cannot have it at 3 copies.

This is b8 but a fun topic reguardless.

Monarch was actually seeing success in genesys with triple PoG because they could afford it. (So that kind of disproves the statement in the post that it would do nothing.) Though I should note that this is no longer possible due to the deck getting points.
The big issue with draw spells is the density of them that you're allowed to play and the restrictions they pose. Most often they are used in order to get to some sort of FTK, exodia most likely, which are extremely gay and actual solitare that boomers claim to hate too. Most draw spells they've made as of late are designed to prevent these deep draw decks or at least avoid FTKs like sloth is only for going 2nd and extrav/prosp put you under a condition.
Super early genesys did have some deep draw decks that highlighted that this issue still exists if you don't keep these older draw spells that lack this design in mind unchecked. Especially if people lack access to counter play either by it being legal/points allowing or by them simply not seeing it in their opening hand.

Will mention something that may or may not matter. On Ao3, sometimes there's authors that mark as only visible for people who have an account there. For some ungodly reason, there's these random ass huge collections of bots hat will massively spam different stories to break the kudos/comments/bookmarks/etc sections out of nowhere to the frequent annoyance of many writers. Setting them to be only visible to people with accounts and logged in helps dodge that all pretty often, apparently.

So can be worth it, even with the delays that getting an Ao3 account requires can sometimes take a week because of spam/anti-botting filters.

I have a shit ton of cards and I am looking for ways to actually play using them, even the random ones. I made a whole TRPG system but so far I found nobody to play with. I am also looking into doing something else, like a war game or something were you would have to use a lot of cards(something like playing a tactics strategy game but with the cards) but I am not really getting any good ideas. Any help?

Ever heard of Duelist of the Roses? Could use that as a basis for a tactical game.

I know I've seen some attempts to translate it to involve modern cards before, but those rulesets ended up disappearing for one reason or another. Something I can recall from at least one variant that you may use is that Continuous effects or ones that otherwise specify All (ex. Dark Hole) affect the whole field, whereas most other effects only are able to affect adjacent squares to a card.

Might also be able to somewhat replicate deck cost with Genesys's points, but those admittedly don't account for Pendulums and Links...which admittedly may be hard to translate anyway so could be saved for a dedicated expansion to the rules.
>>
the system I made already uses DoTR as a base. I am looking more for something you can simply pick up a binder or just have a bunch of decks and play in a table with two or more people. From what I got asking around after I made the TTRPG system, most people around me wouldn't mind another way to play with their cards.
>>
>>98509290
Really? You ever post it online anywhere?
Most attempts to make an RPG from Yu-Gi-Oh I've seen haven't really gone anywhere but it sounds like you have something.
>>
Well, first, it isn't in english(at least not yet), since it isn't my primary language. The entire thing is in a doc in my pc and in a program a lot of people in my country uses to play TTRPGs online.(Firecast). it was mostly made to be played online but with a table big enough I think it could be played in person.
>>
>>98509166
You could do something like the now EOS'd "Cross Duels" video game since you have a bunch of random bullshit and it doesn't sound like you know the actual game enough to make actual decks for some kind of battlebox.
Cross duel TLDR
>4 players sit around a square table facing the center
>Each zone is connected to a lane that you can place a monster and a S/T in
>Monsters move along the lanes by 1 node (the small dots along each lane, 3 each lane) each round.
>S/Ts are like support cards for those monsters in the lanes
>If 2 monsters meet in a lane, they both stop and begin a battle and do damage to the other each round including the turn they connect (I forget how it works exactly but iirc their DEF is like "health" and any diff in ATK is dealt to it, so the bigger ones kind of chips away at the other)
>If a monster dies the winner continues to move
>If a monster makes it to an opponent then the player takes LP dmg equal to the monster's ATK
>Hit 0 LPand you die, last man standing wins
It's a super simple auto battler but maybe that's all you want. Pretty sure a youtube video will have a better explanation of how the game actually plays and I'm sure I got some details wrong.

There really isn't a ton you can do with a bunch of random cards. It's just not really how the game works.

>>
>>98513526
after christmas, as a part of a core booster set, no they suck ass.
>>
>>98510172
Doesn't really compliment anything. The archetype expects you to run a high density of their guys, it wants the normal summon (to stick your first guy at least), and all it does is one big removal and OTK. Very few archetypes need these last things as something like accesscode exists to clear boards and hit hard.
But if you really want to pair it with something though, maybe an Adventure engine (rite of ara., water enchant, etc) to back your setup with a negate as you push through. You'll lose your normal summoned monster's effect but the rest of your names all special themselves so you're just going to have to sequence it right. But if you get the one extender guy to start then you're golden and miss out on basically nothing. And to boot if you discard water enchant for the extender's cost then it's really efficent. Maybe consider including some other discard outlets like forbidden droplet or twin twister to pitch her or immortal sun god too but don't go crazy. Those two would be enough at a playset.

>>98513526
>When?
TBD for the TCG. These reveals were also the announcement of the pack releasing for the OCG and it drop oct 31st for them. Meaning we'll likely see it about 3 to 4 months after that placing it around early 2027. Keep an eye out for the set code IMPH.
>How will it be sold?
It's a core booster set so it's packs. (Buy singles or maybe open a few packs, realize that opening packs is terribly inefficent, and then buy the rest of your singles)
This has a very likely chance of being high rarity to milk boomers going "IM GONNA LARP AS MARIK!!!" as they usually do.
>Will it be fun?
That's subjective. Personally I wouldn't because I like a bit more than big-number-hit-hard but maybe you're a Timmy who likes that.
Keep in mind that any amount of grave hate like a DD crow or ghost belle completely fucks you because you have to get Ra out of the GY. See my above stuff about the adventure engine and droplet to hopefully mitigate that though.

Oh, that kinda makes the deck thematically cooler, mixing egypt and jrpgs is what made yugi's decks cool.
Sucks that grave hate can so easily shut it though, and even adventure sounds kinda bricky for such a "my guys dense" deck, I thought maybe there was a better current theme that worked better to enable them, not just a "oh, yeah you can slap this".
I kinda hope the belle weakness at least makes them cheaper then.

About mitsurugi, am i really just missing some generics (impulse, crown, sloth, more mulcharmies, the new i:p target that is a robot girl) or do people play it mixed with some other deck?
>>
>>98515198
Few people play it pure since the cards that see play within their archetype act as an Adventurer-style compact engine. Except there's no restrictions. It also doesn't really see play as a pure archetype, but nothing stops you from doing so. Of note; People commonly ran Mitsurugi Sky Striker when LD26 dropped because it just works.
>>
>>98515198
Nothing hits quite like yugioh. I like digimon for the memory mechanic and building up your mons like hecatomb used to, but yugioh scratches an almost boardgame-like itch that doesn't compare to anything else. People complain about the powercreep, but yugioh seems like it skips the filler and drops you t0 right in the fray.
>>
>>98515198
So why not Magic?
>>
>>98515198
Yeah if you're looking to play mitsu pure you pretty much just need to fill out your staples and throw in some extra deck cards.
You can lean into the rank4 stuff a bit more if you really want to. They've rightfully hit many of the bridge cards that allow you to easily incorporate mitsu with other decks so it's a bit more limited now. So you kind of have to work in the opposite direction now and see what mitsu can enable you into.
Ygoprodeck is still the best decklists repo so maybe flip through some lists or at least titles for ideas.

Well he's not wrong. Even though it does show up in tops it doesn't have the best conversion and as far as I can tell looking through ygoprodeck it hasn't actually won anything. IE If I were to pick a deck to take to a tournament or place a bet on winning it, it's definitely not that one.
Also you're getting info and watching maybe the biggest faggot who's entire branding is him acting like a faggot. What are you expecting him to say?

He likely thinks we're getting either this OCG only product https://yugipedia.com/wiki/Original_Artwork_Duel_Set:_Yugi or the Demo decks they give out at comic con and other expos. Because we're not getting anything like that afaik.
But they can feel free to prove us wrong with some kind of source because there's nothing like that on the wiki's product timeline for TCG either.

Using it as an engine sounds lame. I don't like a lot of the decks it gets shoved into either.
>yummy
Stupid.
>sky striker
I don't like how the deck plays.
>ryzeal
2 level four monsters means duo drive, but ryzeal on its own doesn’t bridge to it anymore.
>clown crew
I don't like clowns. The little green girl is cute though.
>fiendsmith
Bridging to mitsurugi with fiendsmith CAN be done, but it's a waste of resources. Doing the opposite however is a cinch, exciton is a generic rank 4 that can be linked off into requiem, which grants access to the entire fiendsmith toolbox. This is the most sensible choice i think, plus lacrima is a literal succubus, how could i NOT try this deck?
>light and darkness
That's the deck i'm planning to buy next, but i'd like to play a few tourneys with mitsurugi first.

For now i think i'll just get my fiendsmith cards, my dominus impulse playset (incompatible with mitsurugi fiendsmith, but good lord just look at the card), and then add a few more staples to the deck until i feel like moving onto light and darkness.
>>98515295
Right? I've tried many, many other card games and yugioh is literally the only one that has a extra deck. Most games run on mana/energy systems too, which massively slows down the game. Yugioh on the other hand lets you shit out your entire deck if you can navigate through all the handtraps that get thrown at you.
>>98515988
I just don't like magic.
>>98519560
I'm talking about light and darkness, it's based on the pegasus VS yugi finals.
>>
>>98520079
Engineslop is just the name of the game these days. A lot of shit gets pimped out to ROLAD (the yugi deck you're talking about) just because it has a handtrap 1cc that doesn't interfere with most other builds. I've seen it run with combinations of Mitsurugi, Angelechy (turn 0 synchro floodgates, but only if you go second), sneedsmith, Azamina, pretty much combinations of every generic engine you could think of. It's friggin madness.

Like, it's not all bad of course. It's just that some of the sloppile decks can get really obnoxious.
>>
>>98520079
Oh and if anyone is wondering why i'm fine with fiendsmith, but not with ryzeal, here are my reasons.
>i can bridge both halves of the deck in mitsurugi fiendsmith, it's a complete hassle, but possible
>fiendsmith has a cute succubus
>fiendsmith technically has more starters (i'm not gonna use 3x of everything however)
>fiendsmith gets me a nibiru counter on exactly the 5th summon (extremely important, the rock is popular at my locals)
>fiendsmith has no locks whatsoever

Keep them, online sellers are crooks. I ordered a starlight RIRA apollousa for $80 on tcgplayer back when she got banned, they sent me a "pristine condition" that was literally bent in fucking half. The seller refused to replace it or give me a refund, and when i got tcgplayer itself involved he literally begged me NOT to ask for a refund or do a chargeback because "i'd ruin him", and in exchange he'd give me back a whole $10. After i sent the card back and he received it of course, which would cost me a lot more.

I got my money back and his store no longer exists, but that was the last time i ordered anything off of that site, i now buy local because i can inspect the card thoroughly, and i don't mind paying a little bit extra because i already get fucked in taxes and shipping costs anyway.
>>
>>98523886
So he was both greedy and a retard, huh? He should have went with at least $160 if he wanted to offer you hush money
>>
>>98523914
He just wanted to scam me and it didn't work. I've never sold anything there, but a lot of friends told me he wouldn't lose his reputation for refunding a client, he would in fact keep it if he was civil about it, since you can still leave a review. Tcgplayer doesn't automatically give your store a low rating UNLESS more than 50% of your sales have poor reviews and/or were refunded.
He likely knew a lot of people would want a starlight apollousa after the ban (since that's when she'd be cheapest), so he put his old damaged copy on sale and hoped he would be able to shift the blame to the company who shipped it.

radorii or radorī, its a long (i) sound denoted with either a double vowel or ī. 仔 is child but for animals whereas hatchling has a connotation of being more equivalent to a baby than a child. Radorī, Child of the Dragonmaids would be a literal translation, but if you wanted to localize it a bit you could call her a tweeny (the historic title for a younger maid in training), or you could interpret the 仔 to mean that she's the youngest of them rather than a literal child which might be localized to Runt of the Dragonmaids or something similar. happy now?

>>98528031
>happy now?
Yes.
I still think hatchling or something similar is better because you never see that kanji when referring to humans. So child or tweeny wouldn't work. Runt is better but that implies she's more like the weakest of her litter instead of just young. I only used hatchling because dragons come from eggs, obviously.

And no one really uses macrons or other accent marks in Japanese transliteration. If you can show me an English card with accent marks I'll shut up though.
>>
Laundry, Dragon Maid Pup sounds cute.
>>
>>98528084
then just use the double i. the issue with hatchling is 仔 is not an age range like toddler would be in english, its a binary between adult or not. anything that's not an adult would use 子 or 仔, beyond that its often used as a diminutive to refer to something small, kinda like calling a short dude kiddo or tyke.

Depends on the product.
Most core and DBP side sets are released about 3-4 months after but if they're some kind of odd side set then they usually have to find a home somewhere else or be held up until some sort of alternative side product is made to house a few of them within it.
Why? We've wondered for decades now. We're not getting a solid answer ever.
Inversely the OCG also sometimes suffers from this where they usually get a "world premier pack" once a year to import TCG exclusive stuff for them. Baffles everyone.
>Do they withold a card card for years
Yes they've done that in the past where some stuff was like "when is this coming to TCG?" but often times it doesn't go for too too long. And when it happens it's usually some anime adaptation garbage that hardly matters. The last time I think this came up was a couple years ago at this point now though

I still maintain that if you just threw these into Labyrinth of Nightmare as secret rare cards, they would have been trash and no one would have played them outside of gimmicky decks to do something silly at locals
Even in 2003 three tributes was absurdly slow for a monster that hardly has any protection
>>
>>98530217
Ra especially would be ridiculously terrible
It's just a beat stick. I don't even know if there were any cards that let you gain life points back then so it would either be tribute three for a monster with zero attack or tribute three and have 100 life points

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I actually enjoy how Ra ended up working with all it's support. Kinda like unlocking it's abilities as you go along. It wouldn't have worked out that way if he had been decent so I think something good came from it being a terrible card on it's own.

It has nothing to do with the fandom ratio and if you've ever tried to write your own, you will immediately discover why it isn't weird for us to have much fanfiction.
Duels are straight up just very difficult to write. Even for a very simple duel with DM era cards, by the time you've written out all the cards played and the dialogue talking about the effects, you're looking at a couple thousand words right there. If you start describing hologram interactions in detail, adding banter, internal thoughts, and in general increasing the number and quality of card interactions, you can easily fly past 5000 words.
And this only grows more intense the more modern the cards you use, with an especially big leap if you try to go for thematic card choices and timing rather than just booting up a simulator to make a replay.
All of this adds up to form a fairly unique subset of the Fighting Scene skill. While by contrast, porn is a pretty easily transferable skill as the biggest divergence would merely be some character design and mild specifics of stylization.
Unless someone is going for a Porn Duel. But I think I've maybe seen 2 of those in my life.

matchups are unwinnable sometimes with table 500 decks, mechaba is going to stop nibiru but oceanus banishing anything that touches the grave or ripping 3 extra deck pieces with aeon is going to do more damage to elfnote than a single negate, so there's no point in modifying your deck

It's for sphere mode, and it's the same in Speed Duel.
I wanted to incetivise summoning it to your own side instead, to differentiate from a Yami Marik Deck.
Since it's a "can" ability, you can still use it as intended and even return it immediately, Special summon Ra and have him be protected for one turn.
It might be a little overpowered but you can't mulligan with this skill, so it's not super consistent, unlike the other god-card skills.

You have a few options.

-

One of the top decks is Blitzclique which favors going second and maintaining tempo with some situations allowing OTKs. Additionally, it gives a slight taste of modern gameplay thanks to Crackle and Whisker who can make some strong plays on your opponent's turn if you draw both of them. It also doesn't really focus on the extra deck plays, and is instead something like 99% focused on the main deck.

Here's a sample decklist that won a tournament recently, points are slightly off as while it says 37 points, there's some cards that haven't been updated to the latest points adjustment on the site yet:
https://ygoprodeck.com/deck/blitzclique-727513

-

If you are more favoring control via flip monsters, Mimighoul would be the direction you want to go. It gets a bit more complex with some rulings due to them special summoning face-down to your opponent's field and the sequence their Flip effects fire off is very relevant to what "your opponent" is referring to at a given time. Here's a sample decklist, like above, you'll want to double check the points totals for any shifts:
https://ygoprodeck.com/deck/mimighoul-727532

-

A third deck would be Radiant Typhoon, a deck based around MST. It's a former terror of the Genesys meta, but it can still have some teeth to it even today. For this one you have to pay careful attention to what locks you and various effects being tirggered, as well as getting used to stuff like the summoning conditions for Krosea, Varuroon, etc. meaning they aren't chained to your quick-play spell but instead trigger on a new chain after one that a quick-play spell resolved in.

Here's another sample decklist:
https://ygoprodeck.com/deck/radiant-typhoon-727531

-

Of these, I'd most recommend Blitzclique. It is the most straightforward in terms of rulings and being able to figure out what you can do with the deck, while still providing a number of options for what you can do and having some solid matchups.

I like the set itself, but that price is atrocious and it being scalped makes it even worse. If it was $20 for a box and had no grandmaster rare scalper bait then I think it would be more welcome by people.
The Maestros one is going to suck to buy because I really want the Toons and those will be sought after by others too.

Ok so how the fuck do I get around this? My gf has a blue eyes deck and she's 100% going to be putting this in it. All I can do is try to beat over it?

Also she has a toon deck so I'll be dealing with that
>>
>>98546357
>unaffected by opponents card effects on their turn
Just run multiple copies of Shrink. Bait the attack and have something with 2300 attack or more. Now she's out 3 blue eyes from her deck and is probably crippled.

Then when the cats out of the bag, just set multiple Shrinks and bait out the third effect of destroying face down card

Don't let it hit the board in the first place, Kaiju, snipe the ED, cards that affect players instead of monsters (Evenly, Compulsory Escape Device, Share The Pain)

Fuck off back to r*ddit with that shit.
You wanted to complain about something, you were completely off, and then got called out for knowing nothing.
Also remind me who was butthurt enough to not check any info and to instantly come bitch about it. Who's actually miserable?

They did NOT reprint duoterion in magnificent monsters holy shit, but they did reprint several cards that came out less than half a year ago, even though they were easy to acquire and didn't need the rarity boost (they're from rather unpopular archetypes).
>magnet warrior is a literal who archetype too bro
The issue here is that duoterion only has 2 prints, the original from a decade ago (overpriced, $20 last time i checked) and another from roughly 6 years ago, which is a speed duel print.
Imperion needs a errata too, a PSCT to be exact since his omni is worded "during either player's turn" instead of "(quick effect)".

Is it just me or is the meta moving WAY too fucking fast now? I feel like I blink and there's like a new meta every month.
>>
>>98548941
I could see maybe that being true for genesys but what are you talking about if you're refering to the TCG? It's been some flux of KT, branded, elfnote, mitsu, and skystriker for the last few months with chaos ritual being the only new notable inclusion in the meta as of late. With KT being the above-all-others deck for most that time.
The decks topping shuffle a good deal but the pool is still only a handful. So maybe you're just not keeping track and only looking at what won these events so it feels like that.

>an only-spoken-through-cards story
>fuck off stupid fucking cunt
Bold statement when you, again, clearly don't know anything about the lore and continue to be wrong. Because there is more than just the cards. You need to learn how to swallow your pride and learn how to ask for information without coming off as an asshole.
And what makes me think you give a damn about etiquette and "people skills" if your immediate reaction is to start calling people some variation of fucking cunt?

Oh the puzzle cards turned out really nice. I was worried that you were just going to keep them as plain paper puzzle pieces from the one photo.
What did you land on for the player markers/pawns for the edge of the board again? Cards under the edges of the game board iirc?
>>
>>98552475
Thanks. I'll bear it with honour.
>>98552495
Thats was an idea, but I kept to using stand to prop a skill card up and added the rule that if you are in the Danger-Zone (striped spaces) while other players start a Duel you get removed from the board, skip your next turn and lose 1 card. You basicaly get penalized for "being in the way".

>>

I used to "collect" cards as a kid (my best card was first ed imperial order I pulled from Pharoah's Servant), but I've never played paper "seriously", though I do play Master Duel.
A local card shop invited me to their locals so I thought I'd give paper a shot on a budget.
>>
>>98556853
TLDR yes and that's a pretty good price for one of each too. Almost $10 off each's MSRP

If you get one of each you get a playset of just about every staple handtrap, namely the charmies, on top of other staple S/Ts. The cards in your pic is worth about half of that value alone (virtually speaking, consider the cost of taxes, shipping, and your time too. Not just their raw market value) and then you get 9 deck cores on top of that to pick and choose from.
I would recommend the mitsurugi or sky striker cores to build off of to start simply because they are the best build and strongest among the 9. While certain ones like the rose dragon and speedroid decks were kneecapped and built by someone who has no idea how those decks work or were lists built out of spite.
There's a ton of youtube videos or lists on "triple X structure deck" builds if you're not sure what to do too.
>>
>>98557102
I saw Cardmarket combined the Mitsurugi + Striker decks in a video, is that a viable strat?
>>
>>98557146
You caaaaaan do it but I wouldnt recommend it unless you kinda just want to play a meme-ish deck. Striker and Mitsu have enough synergies to make it work (Mitsu makes enough bodies to bridge into Striker via Camellia) but it's not the best version of either deck
>>
>>98557146
the only reason to do it would be card , both the striker and mitsu legendary modern decks are good value in that regard and you can smash them together instead of playing one of them pure with more non-engine.
>>
>>98557270
would be card prices*
>>
>>98557146
I honestly don't think you need to. The theory is that it lets you access a bit of endboard from each half if you draw pretty well but each of them are sufficent on their own.
It was mostly just a novel thing you could do.
>>
>>98554829
Ah, I see. Well, I do this boardgame stuff to get my friends and myself away from the screen. So someone else will have to pick that job up.

>>98558326
You'll just have to pick up one more of each of the charmies now as you'll only have 2x of each name. You can fill playsets in with the gy/banish charmies but the name of the game is consistency so it will really benefit you to play proper playsets down the road. Just rock what you got for now but keep them on your radar.

yeah it just wasn't a very good product if you were getting it for the decks inside it, but it still sold a shit ton because it had common purulia and fuwalos
the best deck in it is synchron and it would have given you a very basic shell of it, iirc a handful of main deck monsters and 60% of the extra, but you'd still need meister ($10 each, 3-of), armor, assault sonic, signal, zalen, ass2ass, dis pater, the upcoming starjunk and emergency, plus fydraulis which is a 3-of and $100

what are some budget options to add to 3 F&V structures?

just staples + garura, mudragon, starving venom, chimera and albion?
>>
>>98560773
Fallen of the White Dragon and Ecclesia and the Darkk Dragon are the cards that make branded good, consider building a deck around your 3 F&V instead.
