Having a complete STL for an Imperator and Warmonger titan makes me feel better about dropping a hefty wad on a 3D printer.

Is a 3k RG list with a saturnine, a contemptor (double fist), 10 seekers and a battle cannon Kratos too powerful for a friendly list? The rest is a pred, some tacs in rhinos, an outflanking land raider with five catas, mor deythan, forge lord, delegatus, and a squad of thallax. The main thing I could see being a problem is the seekers and the dual inversion beam satty but I also feel like a normal list should be capable of handling it.

What legions make the most sense fighting alongside psy titans?
Trying to figure out my main force for LI but only found Blood Angels from their time killing Eldar and Space Wolves obviously on Prospero. I think the BA scheme is ultimately boring to paint and a grey army for SW also sounds dull.
>>
>>98471056
None really. Legio Sinister has deployed their titans extremely rarely, and only on the direct orders of the Emperor himself. Psy-titans did fight during the Siege of Terra, so maybe IF or WS?

If you want heavy bolters to work, just take a HSS with ten of them. They can now walk and still fire 30 shots, or stand still and fire 40. Even elite infantry will start dying to such an amount of shots.

Having played heavy bolters in all three editions, I can say they have always worked. Always did a very appropriate amount of damage for the post cost. The problem in older editions was that nobody in their right mind would waste a precious heavy support slot on a cheap infantry killer, when you needed to fill those slots with shit that could deal with heavy tanks, dreadnoughts, terminators, automata, etc.

>>
>>98471115
They are more vulnerable to heavier weapons though, now that you are forced to allocated wounds from ranged attacks onto the rapiers first. Losing a HSS marine to something like an autocannon is not that much of an issue, but losing a rapier on the other hand...

Lernaean might be the absolute best terminators of this edition.
>>
>>98471146
true, but on the 40ppm gravis rapiers I dont know if its as relevant. HSS are what, 20ppm?

And its not like HSS take those weapons "well" either, theyre twice as durable vs lascannons, missiles and autocannons, but at the end of the day they still die quite well to them. And theyre a lot more vulnerable to normal weapons too, something like 3x the wounds from bolters.

Good day anons,

I'm setting up a narrative campaign themed around a Traitor R&D complex the loyalists must fight to and eventually breach and destroy. So far I've come up with the order for the missions and some of the theming for them (some of them being ZM for example, or my giant fortress wall print being along the center of the board for the wall breach mission, or some bullshit involving my warlord titan) but I'd like some advice on what effects I could have carry over between games/as a consequence of games.

I want to add the picrel SoC character survival table for all HQ and Sgt models (everyone will have a name) and I've also been thinking it would be cool from a narrative standpoint to have casualty replacement come from the ranks underneath (i.e. seekers take replacements from tacs who take replacements from inductii etc.)

I'd love to hear your thoughts/advice on what to do. I want to avoid 40k crusadifying this, so I don't want the stupid XP system and bonuses and whatnot .

Heres the order, with the campaign starting at 0 and then moving back and forth as teams win and lose:
+5 -> The Core
+4 -> the Labyrinth
+3 -> the Testing Grounds
+2 -> the Wall
+1 -> Industrial sector
0 -> Hab zone
-1 -> Agri zone
-2 -> the Fields of Mars
-3 -> Command Post
-4 -> Space port
-5 -> the bowels of the ship

GW+FW are incapable of maintaining a scale. They always succumb to bigger sells.
After the primaris relase i though that they would bring an order to chaos. It was promising, we got proportionaly very good CSM and a little bigger primaris. Then we got supermodel proportion SoB and IG with scales all over.
>>
>>98472490
>>98472623
Not sure why people care so much about scale. It's like everyone just missed the point that 40k and 30k are Heroic Scale, meaning abstract, larger-than-life, symbolic, it was never literal. Getting bent out of shape over a few millimeters between different infantry is retarded when Rhinos are literally half their actual relative size on the tabletop and yet nobody ever complains about this. The entire thing is fucking stupid. Getting mad at scale in the miniatures is like getting mad at art depictions that aren't photorealistic.
>>
>>98472672
>Not sure why people care so much about scale.
When it's all over the place it looks jarring and breaks the immersion, it's ok to have standards and consistency. Sure FW had some scale issues but it got much worse when GW took over. You must be willfully blind if you do not notice the scale difference.
>when Rhinos are literally half their actual relative size on the tabletop and yet nobody ever complains about this.
Yes fair point, but rhinos look even worse now due to the scale increase and even more of a clown car.
>Getting mad at scale in the miniatures is like getting mad at art depictions that aren't photorealistic.
False dichotomy and comes off as gaslighting, the problem is how awful the company does scale.
>>98472623
Yes but I suppose the scale was much less of an issue when Horus Heresy was astartes only, just look at the scale difference of FW solar aux lasrifle section and veletaris, and how they compare to FW resin space marines.

>>
>>98472672
>Heroic Scale, meaning abstract, larger-than-life, symbolic
That's not what heroic scale means, at all.

Consistency is important because this is a miniature game. "Miniature" isn't just some random word. Adjacent hobbies also have specific scales; if you look at ww2 models or trains they have "1/X scale" on the box.
>>
>>98471107

>>98472836
There is a Gigantic variaty among the sizes of HH era marines, even sometimes happens in w40k (Ranulf needing a custom Russ size armour, Haggar wearing a power armour with a chest plate taken from a contemptor dreadnought). Polux could walk up to Gulliman and look him dead in the eyes without lifting his head (which unnerved the primarch). The legions were full of genetic freaks. At the same time DA had officers (same with WB) who were highly augmented humans. It is good that there are different sizes for officers. I wish the troops were more mixed in size too.

>>
>>98472798
The scale was an issue since the start. We had the resin MK4 a MK6 with girly thin knees compared to say MK3. Sometimes, there were differences between the plain and legion specific units. MK4 helmets were narrower and with larger lenses compared to plastic MK7 and later plastic MK4, very jarring when mixing plastics and resin ones, problem dating back to IA4. But at least FW was selling pack of resin MK4 helms at one time.
GW was also guilty, their charactes also often had problems listed above, but with characters you could just mount the models on taller scenic bases to hide the difference
>>
>>98472672
>Getting mad at scale in the miniatures is like getting mad at art depictions that aren't photorealistic.

Collected Visions and Visions of Heresy are the same except for the addition of Neil Roberts and FW illustrations and extra filler fluff in the later. There's also multiple editions of Visions.

I like Collected Visions as a time capsule of the HH aesthetics before Neil Roberts and FW, but lore-wise there's no difference. They kept copy pasting the same fluff across editions even when later BL/FW had deviated from it.

How viable is a 5 man with 2 hammers and 3 glaives? I’m going to attach them to a cataphractii Warmonger and deep strike them directly. The plan is to unload with banestrike rounds and bait a Chante from the enemy since you can’t charge from deep strike anymore
>>
>>98473423
It could work your only issue might be engineering a situation where your enemy wants to charge justaerin instead of just shooting the shit out of them

I would recommend against power spears since they lose out on breaching and anything mean enough to want to fight the black bastards will probably have a 2+ save, if you need higher initiative attacks I'd use claws instead

>>
>>98472993
the scope, mag and bayonet are like the only parts of that disgusting thing not worth complaining about, dude
>>
>>98473423
Deep strike them next to/on an objective, preferable behind some terrain so they can't be easily seen, and the opponent will be force to deal with them.
Could give one of them a heavy flamer, should be able to deep-strike in range and can flame again during volley fire when charging or getting charged.

Don't bother with power spears. Justaerin are too slow to get to choose what ends up in close combat with them, and people will only send their biggest, heaviest hitters into them. Something power spears will be basically useless against.

>>
>>98473995
Cool. That's all the reason I need.

On a more serious note, speaking from experience with melee veterans they won't see much use. But at least the point cost is reasonable enough this edition that it doesn't matter much if you take them or not.
>>
>>98474043
Really? Volley fire seems to go off quite often.
>>
>>98474122
Sure, but generally veterans won't want to do volley fire when they are the ones charging, because often every casualty they cause will increases the charge range. And units aren't allowed to volley fire when charging out of a Rhino either, which is the best way to deploy power armour melee veterans.
Don't get me wrong, plasma pistols are cool and more people need to put them on their units. Just don't expect a lot from them is all I'm trying to say.
>>

Anon mentioned it but yeah, I wouldn't really go for pistols on despoiler vets specifically unless they're coming out a land raider or storm eagle and thus basically can't fail their charge.
Assault vets though, yeah I have a plan for 2 units of 5 with mixed power weapons and all hand flamers, because they're cool, thematic for word bearers, and likewise it's basically impossible for jump units to fail their their charge in 3.0.

Just a simple upscaling of the GW images shows a very similar mk4 suit compared to Raldoron's, with some details changed. It follows the same conventions as other mk4 characters except for the mk6 helmet.

I don't like Raldoron's pose and size, so this could be a good way to give him longer legs and arms
>>

I'd carefully make his face look more like an human skull.

The other issue is the winged arm's "biceps". They steal the focus of attention from his head, so they need a subdued paint job instead of the usual highlight of round surfaces.

I always just assumed that's a fancy MkVI. Chest cables can be hidden under the breastplate. MkVII, for example, has chest cabling, but they're under the breastplate.
>>98477876
This. MkVI style greaves have been shown on various suits ranging from MkIII to MkV. It's possible the design existed before the MkVI and it just adopted it. The same way MkV adopted its helmet from Indomitus.

>>
>>98478050
> Chest cables can be hidden under the breastplate
Yes, the mk7 style chestplates were originally a mkIV custom variant. As seen in that AL praetor and other models like pic related.
Later it became one of the parts combined in as mk7 (see the Armour through the Ages article in WD published during HH2)
>MkVI style greaves have been shown on various suits ranging from MkIII to MkV. It's possible the design existed before the MkVI and it just adopted it
Mk3 is a different case, because it uses a different tech and construction.
But yes, the "mk6 legs" were a mk4 variant that became part later of the mk6 standard.
Many mk4 models have them, like these AL and WB praetors, or the Ahriman mini.

While Mk4 is commonly said to be the newest and best mark, it was already half a century old by the time of the HH, and there were efforts to improve on it.

Single piece greaves are single piece greaves, no matter how and from what they're made. Point is that "MkVI greaves" does not a MkVI armour make.
>Ahriman mini.
I feel like Ahriman has them because his model is based on the old art. Back when "MkVI greaves = pre-Heresy armour" and artist slapped them on everything, along with studs and segmented plates.

Mk III greaves have extra single piece armour plates bolted to the front of Mk II segmented armour. It is not the same as later power armour greaves.

In the past 10 years

What is your definition of good?

There's more units and options viable than there has ever been in the history of warhammer, at the cost of a little flavour (which is slowly being reintroduced through journals) You can bring almost any kind of army and have a decent chance of wining, if you have the right game plan.
>>
>>98481507
Its a mixed bag, is it more balanced then 2.0? yes, does it have needless addtions that no one wanted or asked for? Like challenge system? Yes.
Did they make some piss poor choices at the start like 4 turn missions and only 3 fucking missions at the start with one of them ebing fucking ASS, yes.

Its not bad though.

Fun/enjoyable. Sorry, I deleted the question because I mistook this tab for the 40kgeneral one. I know HH is kino. Even post-shrimplification.

Though I do resent marines losing their legion trait when doing disordered charges!

it's more like a sidegrade of MkVI into what becomes the GK variant, though neither Rubio nor

>>98478219
MkiV doesn't even look like that until some guy made one from an assault marine for Eavy Metal in 2005

the Armour Through the Ages guy has a dangling flap on little hinges over his groin, which none of the other 1997 MkIV sculpts have (tho in fairness the others are clutching their bolters so close you can't see what's back there)

and marks II and III at that time are sculpted with the flap too, only larger and squarer

the design in pic related, which could pass for a BaC marine, is really a redesign or reinterpretation of what went before, and frankly, it's better; but they're both MkIV variants, while I can't see Rubio's as anything but modified VI even with the weird michelin man belly

Yes. The game is the best balanced its ever been, its not even close, and that in turn means build variety is high.
>>
>>98481547
>Though I do resent marines losing their legion trait when doing disordered charges!
I do not, because I do not want space wolves rhino rushing an extra 2 inches.

The rhino rush is already very strong, but it is balanced by the fact that you cant build to abuse it. No volley fire shenanigans or charge bonuses.
>>
>>98481547
>Fun/enjoyable
Anon this isnt exactly very concrete. Personally I think the game is really fun, things are balanced and listbuilding is varied, and I feel like theres a lot more possible creativity compared to (for example) 2e.

If your idea of fun is "special rules" however, you might not agree, because special rules have been largely cut down and flavor is expressed in more subtle ways/through basic unit functionality, rather than "and then they get an extra special rule to explain what theyre mean to do"
>>
>>98481704
Rhino rush is strong because they move the full distance and then disembark, not because their passengers are getting their traits.
If transports still moved only up to half distance before disembarking, then RR wouldn't be "too strong".

Not to mention the trait loss is selective: only the ones whose traits happen in the charge (EC/SW/BA/WE) are affected. Death Guard can use Rhinos just fine. Activate Heavy X and then charge no problem.

The problem here isn't Rhinos (it's transports in general). The problem here is that EC/SW/BA/WE don't get their traits during disordered charges, whereas all other legions never get their traits cancelled at any time
>>
>>98481540
>Like challenge system?
The challenge system is solid, and while 3e does have its weaknesses, this isnt one of them.

3e encourages (if not "forces") running lots of lower level characters, it also restricts the options consuls have meaning that character "variety" in terms of what they can and cannot do is larger than ever. A librarian is not a champion is not a centurion (even if you assume "always thunder hammer") etc. The challenge system is really good at adding granular complexity to these low level character combats

>some gambits are more generically good/more "optimal" in most circumstances
Yes, and thats fine. Between the legion gambits and circumstance you still have enough variety to go around.
>>
>>98481825
>Rhino rush is strong because they move the full distance and then disembark, not because their passengers are getting their traits.
Yes, its already strong. My point is that its strong enough to where you dont need or want some legions having it be even stronger. And the current disorganized charge rules help make sure thats the case.

>only the ones whose traits happen in the charge (EC/SW/BA/WE)
Dont forget SoH. Their bonus to volley fire is also negated by disordered charges.

>Death Guard can use Rhinos just fine.
Yes, in that they charge the same as anyone else (although if they want to use their heavy(x) they will be moving less than everyone else.

>The problem here is that EC/SW/BA/WE don't get their traits during disordered charges
Once again forgetting SoH.
And their traits are already strong enough WITHOUT having them proc via the easy charges a rhino rush allows.

Those legions get insanely powerful effects with the condition that they need a charge, which is normally rather hard. RR's let you have easy charges, but those charges dont get the same benefits immediately. Seems fair to me.
>>
>>98481940
It'd be nice if sergeants weren't excluded from the challenge system. It's so sad to create a whole system where (allegedly) anything could happen....then exclude the most common duelist out of it!
>>
>>98481951
Also: why SoH might be the most important legion to consider (despite the omission on your end).

They clearly have a "charge" legion trait. But theres basically no way to allow them to get it when RR'ing that doesent end up monstrously powerful (rhino rush destroyers anyone?). The current disordered charges are "punishing" enough to where theres counterplay, but still enable a powerful strategy that makes melee actually viable without land raiders. And that system would not work in any scenario where everyone gets their charge benefits (because that would lead to absolutely disgusting situations). So you would need to gut the base system and suddenly only the designate legions get to have any semblance of the RR for no good reason.
>>
>>98481955
>It'd be nice if sergeants weren't excluded from the challenge system
Master sgt. Also a lot of the more elite troops have their sgts be innately champions (varangyr, command squads, etc).

Plus, sgt chumping would be stronger than ever with the new system, because instead of refusing (and eating the disgraced status) you would just send a mook to die.
>>
>>98481955
Nah, that would just lead to people using their throwaway sergeants to tank a character's attacks for a turn.
>>

>>98481951
I would trade half of a Rhino's move for getting my trait back. I don't want strong, I want thematic. It is simply nonsensical for World Eaters to get a charge and not get the +1A that they used to get explicitly even when disordered back them.
>>
>>98481969
But on the whole I do agree that itd be nice if sgts could fight challenges, because sgt on sgt combat could be really fun this edition. Its just one of those things where by letting them take part, you essentially remove the system. A sgt vs a character is (outside of the aforementioned super elites) such a foregone conclusion, and it essentially means people would never "actually" have to engage in challenges.
>>
>>98481974
>I want thematic
For WE that means a footslogging horde of chain axe wielding berserkers running at the enemy. Which... their current trait promotes, that's crazy.
>>
>>98481974
>It is simply nonsensical for World Eaters to get a charge and not get the +1A that they used to get explicitly even when disordered back them.
Take hereticus then, since that gives a flat +1 attack when lost to the nails. If you want to represent that "we dont need to think or do shit, were mad berserkers" thing.

Disordered charges are charges made under less than ideal circumstances where doctrine cannot be properly carried out and the best laid plans cannot be relied upon, whether thats because dudes are springing a desperate trap at the last moment (interdiction cadre) or because warriors are trying to use a vehicle in a way it was never really designed for (rhino rush). Which is why units that would normally get a benefit for charging (whether thats through innate skills, weaponry, or their legion tendency) dont get their bonuses.

Its too manic, disorganized, short notice, and chaotic for the SOH to get their punishing volleys off, for the EC to practice their martial excellence or for night raptors to fully utilize their raptor strike.
>>
>>98481966
It's not so much about charge benefits, but rather about traits deactivating during disordered charges.
>>
>>98482015
The trait in this case being "charge benefits". Which a lot of legions (BA, SW, WE, SOH, EC) do have - in some way or another - to be fair. But theirs arent the only charge benefits, and im not sure why theirs should be granted in a situation where all other charge benefits are otherwise removed.
>>
>>98481969
>Master sgt
False equivalence. That benefit is twofold: it both improves a sarge's stay line, and lets him engage in the challenge system.
You shouldn't have to pay a ticket to enter, is what I'm asking.
>Players might throw in a sacrificial sarge
Ld test does away with target selection. Win, you choose who accepts. Lose, the enemy does. But shrimps seem to be allergic to throwing more dice than strictly necessary in this here DICE GAME
>>
>>98482015
And? All legion traits have situations where they have no effect or become useless. Be glad you don't have the DA trait.
>>
>>98482031
>You shouldn't have to pay a ticket to enter, is what I'm asking.
There ARE sgts that have champion unique (generally among bodyguard/retinue units mind, but still). But sure, I could see a world where sgts are just allowed to do challenges. Help give that lone power fist dude a thing to do.

>Ld test does away with target selection
Id have simply made it "if theres a character, they have to accept, if there isnt a sgt can". I think its fits with the general concept of "disgraced" and the challenge refusal mechanic that a line sgt wouldnt be standing in for a commanding officer (unless literally thrown under the bus NL style).

>>98482035
I will die on the hill that the DA trait is -in context - fine. Is it undertuned relative to the others? Yes, slightly so. But its generally useful (ignore the fear thing and realize its just the excellent WB trait from last edition and then some, sure routing isnt the literal death sentence it used to be but its still good to avoid it) and thematic (its their whole "stubborn & grim resolve, standing against the worst monsters in the galaxy unmoving" thing)

Its also balanced out by their excellent selection of aux detachments.

Challenge system is shit, its the illusion of choice, because 9/10 times you almost alwyas pick the same 2 or 3 gambits nothing ever else.

Wrost of all though, is the challenge system massively disrupts the flow of the game, its such a cumbersome and needless system. If it existed JUST for primarch level characters sure fine but having to do it for anyone who is a champion is just shitty.
>>
>>98482086
Anon +2" setup is fucking insane. Its incredibly powerful and makes charges so much more consistent, while also denying a lot of the possible counterplay charges normally have.
Maybe im biased as a NL player, since setup move counters my legion reaction
>>
>>98481940
Oh i forgot to mention terrain rules.
Terrain rules are so fucking bad in 3.0 that everyone just collectivly agreed to just say fuck it, and not even bother with them and just kept using 2.0 terrain rules lol

I think my group which is a group of like 10 or so dudes that play consistantly, we all played like 3 or 4 games at the very start of the edition using 3.0 rules and we all just said fuck this, this shit is awful, and went back to Good ol LoS rules and 50% obscured.
>>
>>98481951
>Not mentioning AL
AL is probably imo one of the strongest legions in teh game right now, especially if you are playing with the actual terrain rules of 3.0
>>
>>98482092
>its the illusion of choice, because 9/10 times you almost alwyas pick the same 2 or 3 gambits nothing ever else.
And? Yea, no shit "taunt and bait" is there for niche cases.
Under ideal "white paper" circumstances there are a couple gambits you generally always want (finishing blow and seize being the main two), ignoring any special gambits which tend towards the "very good" side of things - and therefore make riposte relevant. The fact that there are these generic "power gambits" which both players want is what makes the dynamic, because only one player can have any given gambit and someone gets first pick.

So yes, some gambits are "always good" and some are more situational, but thats fine because the whole point is that its always "a situation", theres always some context which changes what you do and pick.
>>
>>98482053
>I will die on the hill that the DA trait is -in context - fine.
Its not, its really really shit.
I have i dont even know how many games under my belt now its at least 2 dozen of 3.0 and in all that time the DA trait came up ONCE and only once, and that was specifically against a NL player, because there are very few things that can even bring you down far enough for it to kick in, since almost everyone is running either combat vets, or Master SGT, your stats are being bumped up to the point of needing something with like fear 3 in the game for it to kick into effect, which there are only 2 characters with that iirc, and both of them are NL characters.
Its really really bad.
>>
>>98482116
>Its the illusion of choice.
>Agrees with me.
>ITs still totally fine
Its a bad system anon, just admit its a bad system. Im not against the idea of a challenge system, but this one is just shitty because its filled with the illusion of choice and the reality is that majority of the time it all boils down to who wins the roll off..
>>
>>98482110
I didnt mention AL because their trait has no bearing on how they charge.

>especially if you are playing with the actual terrain rules of 3.0
Anon, I hate to break your heart, but it doesent have that interaction with "cant see through more than 3" of terrain". It affects the total distance from the enemy to you, it doesent add distance at any "specific point".

>>98482103
Having played with the terrain rules a fair bit? Theyre fine. The abstracted 3" LoS really helps make terrain actually really impactful, because now all those ruins with their big gaping doors and holes are actually blocking LoS rather than simply giving you a 5++. It makes shooting lanes a lot more restricted and makes mobility more important.

True LoS is more intuitive, but its fiddlier ("oh let me just make sure each dude is standing behind a pillar so you cant see them") and - obviously - very reliant on the actual terrain used.
>>
>>98482136
the terrain rule is not the only thing that makes AL insanly good. they can, if they want to, deny any cataphracii unit form getting into melee with a unit of theirs if they dont want to. They can completely deny a chata unit the ability to get into combat Its fucking nuts.
>>
>>98482125
>Its a bad system anon,
Youre going to need to present a better argument than "well some gambits are niche and that makes me feel bad".

>illusion of choice
The illusion of choice would be if gambit selection didnt matter, as if the outcome was always the same. Which is obviously not true.

>and the reality is that majority of the time it all boils down to who wins the roll off
Yea, no shit anon. In a system about people with identical statlines fighting each other going first is very important. What a criticism. Its almost like "who wins the roll off" is a central mechanic to how the gambits and weapons and shit work or something. Any other stunning insights? That it just comes down to whoever can pass their invuln saves?
>>
>>98482145
Im not sure if thats exactly how it works (as in "I would need to go read the exact wording on how charges are measured once declared - it wouldnt work for example for denying closing the distance with setup moves"), but yes, their range fuckery is really strong now that charge ranges are on average much lower. That 4" move does a lot of work for them. Good trait theirs.
>>
>>98482145
The cata terminator is 1" away from you. You move away 4".
They setup move 1", they are now 4" (6" AL trait) away from you.
They make it on a 6.

If you want to fuck peoples charges over, look at NL. Any charge that doesent make it in on pure setup basically autofails if they have reactions left.

There might as well just be four gambits: Mine, yours, Seize, and Finisher.
>>
>>98482217
>There might as well just be four gambits: Mine, yours, Seize, and Finisher.
And then guard up/test the foe for when the other guy gets to pick first and takes the gambit you wanted. Or riposte for when you need to disable their special gambit because its bollocks (NL), or grandstand for when you need to convert your outnumbering into actual damage somehow.

And oh look, weve reinvented the other gambits, weird!

The "generically strong" gambits set the paradigm, the niche gambits exist to work around the paradigm and serve the actual circumstance at hand.

Whos ever going to bother with a guard up any way, it pretty much garuntees you to go after them, which is basically a death sentence since you are are more then likely going to die in 2 hits 1 if its a named character usually.
>>
>>98483523
>it pretty much garuntees you to go after them
Nigga what? You roll a regular focus roll-of dice with guard up. Are you confusing it with finishing blow, where you have to roll two pick lowest?

There's plenty of situations where guard up is worth using. Easiest and quickest to explain not going to make a list, you seem very closed minded so not gonna waste any more time is a biomancy librarian. Makes the librarian harder to hit, and him hit more easy. Then slap the opponent into orbit with force'd up biomantic slam, which only allows 1 attack anyway.
>>
>>98483523
>>98482310
Guard up is solid. Yes, its less damage short term (only 1 attack), but its +1WS (big for defense most of the time) and also gives a hefty focus benefit next turn.
You use it to mitigate one turn of damage and then next turn go first with finishing blow. Remember, breakpoints being what they are often times just preventing that one hit is enough to stop yourself dying when you would otherwise die.

You arent picking guard up every time, but you are considering it a lot of the time when your opponent has the advantage, because it lessens it short term and turns it into an advantage for you on the next round. It also lacks a focus penalty, so it can often go before finishing blow.
>>
>>98482295
Yes, their 2e trait was broken bullshit and was rightfully removed. Their current trait is still very good and makes them an incredibly fast and reliable melee army.
>>
>>98482310
>I cN take i
On average? Yes: you can. Even with the +1A for going first, on average a praetor or centurion does not kill another praetor or centurion in one go. While with finishing blow centurion combats end in one hit and therefore on average do.
