>>98478314I've never quite been clear on whether it was "Page 8 AND image limit" or if it was "Page 8 OR image limit". Regardless, board is way slower these days than in years past so even page 8 seems a bit premature now. Hopefully we didn't bump a thread of any real quality off.
>>98478495>"Page 8 OR image limit"traditionally it's been thisinformally, if there's no rush to discuss something, jumping ship as soon as page 8 hits is hastywhat makes matters worse is that 4chan as a whole, and /tg/ in particular, slowing down to a crawl, so there's even less need of new threads as soon as possible
>>98478515I wouldn't call it a crawl, but sometimes these threads do slow down quite a bit. 40k is still fast as fuck whenever I peek in there though.
>>98478495definitely "or"We only really hit image limit when new reveal shows happen, stuff like that.8 has traditionally been the migration page, but like >>98478515 mentioned the board is slowing down so much so it's kind of up in the air right now. >>98478258OP's laziness is a weakness that I will exploit to force my own TQ into this thread :What armies do you think are getting squatted with TLW ?
Reposting cos accidentally posted on last thread:Man the Skaventide really should've just been in Azyr, the place is supposedly getting blown up next edition so would've been cool to see it now. Also would've fit the end of the Dawnbringer Crusades that they were both succesful but they'd completely forgotten about the home front which gets attacked by Skaven. Finally would've made the death company stormcast fit because it's a case of they're just sorta forcing them off the assembly line as quick as they can which leads to more reforging flaws.
>>98479071Oh shit niceHappy to be wrong
>>98479073>What armies do you tuink are getting squatted with TLW ?We've already had that conversation so many fucking times, it has been discussed to death
>>98479082>We've already had that conversation so many fucking timesNever as an actual official TQ
>>98479071Looks like it's 40k the week after as well
>>98479082I'm starting to thing maybe the schizo from last thread had a pointAnyway, no armies are getting squatted. I do expect DoK to be souped with malerion's elves though, like what's happening to fyreslayers this edition. Although dok probably won't lose any heroes.
>>98479071And that BL book is also coming out along with a Witch Hunters Omni
>>98479071Part of me is happy, but part of me also suspects based on the usual pattern that half of the new range will be sold out for a good six months or more.
>>98479096>Although dok probably won't lose any heroes. The one thing you can't say about DoK is that they have too many heroes. There's like what, one standalone foot hero kit still?
>>98479071Why is this a regiment of Renown?
>>98479071New dice too, we hadn't seen these yet right? Nothing special though. Also:>Here at Warhammer Community, we’re taking a closer look between the pages of the upcomingCodex: Orks, chatting with community members about the new Ogor Mawtribes, and catching a pair of exciting reveals on Monday. That’s right –two. We’ll see you thenTwo reveals, I'm assuming one is the rest of the ork stuff, but the other might be SoB.
>>98479115to get rid of excess warehouse stock
>>98479117>but the other might be SoB.Why do you assume this?
>>98479102Neat!>>98479115I would have preferred seeing the spearhead than this, but for a ror the models themselves are kinda intriguing. Rules are probably bad tho.
>>98479103Also, no spearhead release yet. With that in mind probably just gonna grab a box of hunters and maybe the hippo thing if it's not too expensive. I kinda want Reddit Maw but flipping through the battletome made me realize he's actually way bigger than the Hippo hero, so he's probably in that $150+ bracket and I'm not sure if I want him THAT badly.
>>98479123NTA. But the new maneater gargant sprue leaked in video form. So it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see it tomorrow.
>>98479123NTA, but it's not unreasonable. Ogors are out, which means there's nothing left for AoS that has been previewed and not released. Dropping a small preview while we wait for the next big reveal show is fairly likely.
>>98479123Ogres up for preview, mancrusher sprue has already gotten leaked, still a while before the next preview so they gotta start showing stuff on monday at some point.
>>98479102Is he Khorne or StD?
The man crushers are for underworlds
>>98479115Why not? It keeps the Beastclaw side of the army accessible. Though I can't see anyone running that combination of units.
>>98479146At last I truly seeActually now that I think about the monday reveal might really be for underworlds. Next warband was supposed to be tree related or something
>>98479142STD but Khorne-curious, IIRC.
>>98479142i didn't finish the first book but he was being led down the khorne cultist pipelin, specifically with a khornate mentor and i think he finds a khorne worshiping city. maybe he rejects khorne by the end, idk
>>98479071No spearhead?
>>98479125>Rules are probably bad tho.We have the rules alreadyYou get, uhhhhh...a unique prayer for the Huskard (+3 charge and retreat and charge for up to three units) and a transport ability on the Thundertusk. It's whatever.
>>98479174Gotta bait people into paying full price for the butcher first. Though to be honest, as someone who already has a fully painted Gorger unit and didn't especially want a second one, I might be OK with that, maybe. Gotta see the individual prices first.
>>98478993that's a cool throne, is that 3dp
>>98478993Limited edition character release. Was a rumor engine for like two years before they gave you a month to order him or forever hold your piece, too.
>>98479102Looking forward to this one. The first book had its rough points, as debut novels do, but it felt like it had a story to tell and was written with an earnest interest in exploring the setting.
>>98479222Sorry, meant for 98479220

>Friend wants to play WFB>I don't like the rules>Friend wants to play AoS 1st or 2nd edition>AoS 1st Edition allows you to bring all the various elf factions together under the generic Grand Alliance Order allegiance>MFW could finally play Host of the Eternity King like I've always wanted>Friend wants to play Chaos>WFB End Times in AoSThis is a dumb idea, right? Or is it pure SOVL?
>>98479267already know this is like 100 bucks or more on ebay.

>>98479268it's AoS as it was meant to be before GW ruined it in third edition.
>>98479278Cant be, theres blood and gore and skulls.
>>98479270Had the same reaction when i wanted the Half-King and all listings in my country were 3 times the price of a normal hero and some already (badly) painted
>>98479278>>98479300>Chinese Redd>he rides a couldron of cum
>>98479278Still undecided if I want to get this guy or not. Honestly, none of the new special characters are particularly inspiring for me. >Redd is uberpowerful and has kind of a cool model and I like wizards but I reaaaally don't want to run a full on mawseeker army full of gorgers and cleavers, even if Cleavers are inexplicably the best infantry in the army now. >Firefist has a meh model and there's no other maneaters to pair her with right now>Morga is super-boring both as a character and a model.>Beastclaw are dear to my heart but also kinda half-assed as a subfaction right now, with no leader character and the remaining lifespan of the Stonehorn/Thundertusk models cloudy at best and no Yeti's (for now)I think for now I might just ignore all the special characters and run a generalist mixed gutbuster/beastclaw army since that's what I have already painted anyway. I do want the butcher and the hunters, and the ranged cav, and maybe 1-2 boxes of the mawseeer infantry. Rhino is a maybe.
>>98479318Yhetee king incoming, trust the plan
>>98478955Finally back to painting after like a year or not since finishing the gore gruntaz
>>98479325He's dead.
>>98479330Fuck I forgot the pic like a retard
>>98479342Eyy I have those same ork heads, my friend bought em for me.
>>98479338It's encouraging enough that Yeti's still exist in the lore. I think looking at the army overall right now, there's only two really likely second wave/expansion options, and those are Maneaters and Beastclaw. The Gutbusters are basically fully refreshed, and supplemented by the new Mawseeker guys who I don't think have any real path to add more stuff to short term.Meanwhile Maneaters are completely missing except for Grell, and arguably the cannon still being around. They could easily just be a Warcry band thoughBeastclaw have no special characters still, a mix of old/new models, and some lore hints. I could see them making a comeback in a few years. Not soon though, I don't think Ogors are popular enough to get back to back waves.
>>98479370>Beastclaw have no special characters still, a mix of old/new models, and some lore hints. I could see them making a comeback in a few yearsThey'll do the thing wherein the rival to the main faction pops out in their own release.
>>98478955sloppin' these guys out (I think this brings the tally of painted plaguebearers to 50 now, man am I tired of them)
>>98479115I hope it's reasonably priced because some of the ones with Warcry units have been a joke
>>98479338I could see a mini wave with multi kit with melee/support builds and an alpha yeti hero
>>98479349I mainly got the screaming one for my shaman. They’re so good lol
>>98479485Not as bad as I expected.
>>98479268Illegal levels of SOVL
>>98479070it's funny that the breaching of azyr has been the looming threat/goal for several factions but it took too long and now by the time they finally get to it it'll be overshadowed by all the realms merging kek
sylvaneth will be the rape faction now that they're getting furries.
>>98479131Tbh you could probably kitbash a Red ezpz.Like I could:>buy the right base>tear apart my Mawpot for the pot>use the extra Ironguts and Gluttons I have from the old kits>make a Butcher/Slaughtermaster proxy for Red specifically>get jewelry chain and have all the other dudes pulling a Mawpot with some fat fuck on itI have so many extra Ogors now it's silly.
>>98479588Stormcast are already the rape faction, just ask any Chaos follower
>>98479638"Big butcher on pot" does seem like a pretty fun kitbash project
>>984795073 model unit same cost as a 10 man in other factions>not as bad as expected
>>98478993The fuck is that thing on the left?
>>98478258Anyone else think modern Gay Wokeslop sprues are a tad overengineered?
>>98479716Yeah the dynamic poses are cool and all but the lack of modularity removes so much of the hobby from the hobby. It's bizarre they're designing the models like this in 40k and AoS but pretty much everything in Heresy is interchangeable
>>98479687Kroxigor price; though at least kroxigors are quite a bit bigger and come with more options (compared to say ironguts).Still somehow cheaper than slaangors!
>>98479745Well, 95% of Heresy models are space marines, so the modularity is the result of almost every kit being the same with different colors.
>>98479071>3 named characters on launch>2 of them are Femogres>1 is readily identifiable as femaleAn odd choice for the fat fuck Mongolian army
>>98479687I didn't say the prices were good, they're just not rape level which sometimes happens with new releases. And yeah no shit Ogres cost more per model than regular human sized models.

>>98480025I've not played since 2nd. Loved being here for Malign Portents and the excitement in the general. Was Ghouls!-posting each and every thread, having a ball. I hear Spearhead is good these days, was thinking of picking up a cheap FEC box and the new Spearhead and giving it a go.
>>98479370Nah fuck that I'm glad we don't have any unique characters it means I can run my army with my dudes without losing out on all the cool things an army can do.
>>98480072Man second edition was so fucking peak and they've just ruined it more and more each edition. Only complaints I've ever heard about 2nd was "Muh heckin tournerino play"
>>98480072malign portents into 2nd edition into broken realms was the most hype this game (and general) ever gotGW has no clue what to do with the narrative and rules since then. but yes spearhead is fun, if you can find the old one it has basically all the new ghoul stuff from 3rd edition that you'd be interested in. the newer one is mostly old minis so you'll probably already have most of it
>>98479790What's there in 11th is good. But the mission structure has no variety what so ever, so you just play the same game over and over again.
>>98480129>>98480140It really was. The weekly short fiction being released and people talking about it on here, the videos and hints and teases. Man, it was really peak AoS.Everyone in the threads seemed so excited and optimistic. Sadly the narrative has completely lost me now. Feels like modern 40k where named characters are the thing all narrative orbits around, but at the same time no-one can die because it would invalidate buying centerpiece models. I'm going to give Spearhead a try. It seems very charming from the rules I grabbed off Warhammer Community.>>9848014311th feels like a game of League of Legends at this point. The points per dollar ratio of 40k does it no good either. I still have all my miniatures but have found myself more interested in AoS and working on my WHFB stuff instead.
>>98480140Not sure about the narrative, but they know exactly what to do with the rules. dumb it down to the max to lure in more new players and balance around competitive for fags who care about that more than fun or interesting gameplay
>>98478288>fuck Dragons
>>98480180my cope is that gw will keep expanding on spearhead and essentially make it the intro version to AoS that can be more shrimplified for a streamlined experience for newcomers (and tourneyfags), while then allowing AoS proper to get cookier in terms of fun abilities and list building optionsof course, it's entirely possible that gw takes the exact opposite approach and goes "hey, spearhead is really popular, I guess they would want the main game to be more shrimplified like SH!
>>98480194queen shit
>>98480219I think unless the different teams are on entirely separate wavelengths, wargear costs being tentatively added back into 40k is big for the prospects of granularity in Nuhammer in general. It feels like such an easy lay up to have rules for swords and spears both instead of them both being under a nebulous label.
I would like to politely request any and all of the Flesh-Eater Court Battletomes please. Thanks in advance!

>>98480554Thank you so much, great .gif too!
>>98479390Didn't she get folded back into team Morathi? And even if she didn't, who cares? She's effectively the head of a subfaction with a model range of exactly ONE that's almost guaranteed to see no additional releases because GW hates DoK.
>apparently the new Ogre book has two Spearheads in the rulesI wonder if that’ll become the norm. It seems like a neat idea for new comers to have a pre-made example list that’s notnecessarily the Spearhead box.
>>98480385I feel like in AoS those were mostly kind of redundant anyway. Weapon options are way more important when you've got a S/T system to think about, and since AoS has done away with variable melee range too there just wouldn't be a lot of point to em. Would probably just be a whole lot of instances of "sword hits on 3s and wounds on 4s, spear hits on 4s and wounds on 3s"What I want most is a better way to handle list building. It's just very boring at the moment. I know there's always kind of an inherent balance between choice in listbuilding vs choice in gameplay, ie the more important you make the former generally the less important the latter will be and vice versa. But imo right now listbuilding in AoS is just so damn boring when it's usually one of the more fun parts of the other gw games.
>>98480582>She's effectively the head of a subfactionThat's what i'm saying, she's a good example of setting up leadership for a subfaction. Just have John Beastclaw the guy who was fighting old ogor leader that Morga killed and maybe have him try to step in.

>>98480683
>>98480602What's the point of having a subfaction if you don't do anything with it? As an example, I like the idea of a subfaction within the DoK existing because they don't trust Morathi, and I like the idea of it being centred around Morai-heg. There's a lot of meat to work with there, both narratively and aesthetically - but functionally, it all doesn't mean a damn thing because that subfaction doesn't manifest itself in any meaningful way. It's like, cool, I can run a Croneseer list on the tabletop. What's it look like? Exactly the same as a regular DoK list, only you just swap Morathi out for Krethusa. I'm not asking for a lot, just two or three (unit) kits to add some flair to the subfaction. But if those kits are going to come at the cost of the general faction, I'd rather just not have them. I'd rather not repeat the 40k Dark Eldar problem, with the entire faction effectively being three equally ignored factions stuffed inside of a trenchcoat.>>98480667Ever never.

>>98484077Is it me or did neither orks nor space marines get lots of new stuff in this release?Off the top of my head orks got new boyz, nobs, grerchin, the two armageddon war machines, bikes, and a handful of characters. Don't get me wrong that's still a lot in a vacuum, but feels smaller than these usual post-launch release waves. Skaven got basically their entite range refreshed at the start of 4th.Marines feel even less impressive because they basically get a lot of alternate poses of units they already had.I suppose both these factions constantly get updates most of the time anyway, so there wasn't as much stuff left.
Do you think it was really TOW's popularity which caused James to go for TLW. I've heard it there and elsewhere but I've also heard there are they were going for that direction as far back as 3rd ed, back in 2020/2021. But TOW only got released and started to sell in 2025

Rolling up with a fully painted army, even if it’s not much more than bases, shades, and highlights always gets a good reception because it’s physical proof of your perseverance. There’s always going to be someone better than me, so worrying about that is useless. My personal point of pain is how slow I am at painting and that people can get equal or better results than me in a fraction of the time. I think that stems from me feeling that I’m not actually very artistically inclined and treating minis as a 3d coloring book. I realize I paint by the numbers instead of minis being a template for artistic expression, which is how I assume people get speed by knowing what colors work where and how they’ll interact to give off a certain appearance or style. >>98484817don't really care about thatI think what irritates me more is basically any tier of model is likely to get removed off the table in one turn now. The amount of lethality of the game is parody level since 4e. Units feel so flimsy and disposable, both in how the battle plays out and how attached games workshop wants you to feel to them.
>>98485813>The amount of lethality of the game is parody level since 4eExplain to me, a 1st edition player, what you mean. Examples etc. My buddy and I are going to play some 4th later in the year so he can play the Hellsmiths.
>>98485813Lethality is by far preferable to games turning into nerfbat duels where anything more valuable than a slaverat takes three full rounds to die but only if you actually focus fire on them.We saw what happened when GW tried to reduce lethality in 10th. All they accomplished was reducing the number of valid wargear options. Oh, except marines who got Oath of Moment so they could choose to simply erase any unit from the board they wanted.
>>98485831I was never a fan of high-lethality games, it's one of the main reasons (alongside several others, like weapon ranges) that turned me off of 40k and had me seek out variety of AWGs. As it is right now we have units like CoS Gallants who do nothing and die to stiff breeze, or Stormcast who overpay for their armor and save despite dying just as easily and hitting with noodle arms.
>>98485781The latter.

>>98485908Sovl
Lethality is a funny complaint that I genuinely don’t see gw ever resolving. You make the game less lethal you end up with games where no one does anything which in my opinion just doesn’t get any dopamine flowing. Now I don’t think the current lethality baseline is good either, it leads to fixed lists and all that, but you get feedback most of the time when you roll your dice. You could have rules like morality to influence in a game with less lethality, but for a game like Aos, and 40k especially, it likely gets ignored by a good majority of what sees actual play on the table, leading to some feels bad moments for a faction that actually has to play around it.
>>98485864https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrgv3D0sWc8
>>98486054Oh, and also, no one wants to play a pick up game that lasts longer than 3 hours. Granted for all the shit 40k has done a 2k game still borders on 4 hours unless both people really know their rules by heart. Granted, that was my experience with 10th. I’m not entirely sure if 11th has actually managed to make it where it doesn’t needlessly waste your time.
>>98486054I don’t know whether it’s actually lethality that’s the issue, but rather that stuff that should be tanky, isn’t. Biggest example is Stormcast. Hardly any of the infantry units will be tankier, or able to take as big a beating as something like soulblight skeletons or clan rats because those two units have recursion built in as their damage mitigation and can receive other methods of mitigating damage via debuffs to enemy units from heroes like Neferata/Lauka’s aura and additional recursion on top of easy access to a basic ward save. It essentially takes a lot more to chew through and finally put down a unit of either than it would something like a reinforced unit of Liberators who are 20 wounds on a 3+ with an occasional ward. You only need to fail that many 3+’s to lose the whole unit, which is easier than you might think under the weight of chaff attacks.
>>98486054>horde units regrow models and/or return from the table edges even more than now>large units are even tougher than they are now, but instead of getting too weak upon receiving damage you lose control of them so they start chasing/damaging units that aren't necessarily the ideal targets for their arms, or for your strategy>elite units don't regrow models (that much) and aren't (too) tough, but they get incremental bonuses the more they kill/the more they're damaged, to represent rugged or exalted champions >small heroes can't get damaged as long as they are accompanying a unit, except by other small heroes that can challenge/assassinate them
>>98486129how long does it take on average for you guys to do 2k point games in AoS? i'm relatively new to the game (about 5 full games and 15ish spearhead games) under my belt, and it can take like, 5-6 hours for me to get a game finished(granted, a lot of the time i'm also playing with someone new i'm introducing to the game)
